i plugged the first paragraph of My Immortal into a few portrait ai generators... for reasons

artflow is fine, couldn't figure out the hair though.

nightcafe couldn't do "seventeen" and also struggled with the hair but i regenerated a few times and got better results. ended up publishing the middle one on my profile on there

then i found deepai, and holy cow, i am stunned (this one is the Renaissance painting option)

this was the cyberpunk option on deepai, and is absolutely now my headcanon face of Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way (which, btw, my autfill now completes when i type ebony)

They’ve been caught using generative ai for a handful of their blanket designs. “By independent artists” my ass. I am very much not interested in AI generated images, every time I see one I feel like the last jolts of motivation I have left in me are dying, and anything “AI art” related from making it to sharing it is very harmful to real human artist who have spent years developing their skills (and not just few hours to generate an image from stolen artworks) so if you support it in any way please unfollow me because it’s clearly not a place for you.

Seen a couple takes on this and I'm going to say my peace.

Do not use AI to "create" ANYTHING.

No concepts, no prompts, nothing. Every time you use it, plugging in words and ideas, you're teaching it. You're making it evolve further. And you're encouraging the people pocketing money from it to continue to steal from real artists. Because yes, your "harmless inspiration" is still STOLEN ART.

There's hundreds of prompt generator websites out there that provide random phrases or sentences. Hell, there's tons of blogs right here that provide random drawing prompts all the time.

You need to put down a concept? Stick figures.

Do not use AI. Full fucking stop.

(also if you're using AI in any way you're going to be instantly blocked by 99% of the site. So just don't.)
