Izutsumi character study

#dungeon meshi #izutsumi #One of my goals for this year was to spend more time doing art studies. #What better way to start than with my favourite danmeshi character (not seen: a whole page of figuring out her features) #I feel like she is by far one of the most poorly understood characters in the series. Partially due to her 'late party member' status. #'She's abrasive and mean' - 'she's a picky eater' - 'she's a catgirl who acts like an asshole cat ' YES and that is the point! #Everyone in dungeon meshi is traumatized and messy about it but izutsumi is just less polite in how she tries to cope. #Izutsumi is a extremely traumatized teenager who has utterly lacked autonomy her entire life. #She is the epitome of a “If I can just have X thing then all my problems will be solved!” character. And the X is 'Freedom'. #Her epilogue was one of the best and wrapped up her character so wonderfully (WARNING: I WILL NOW SPOIL PART OF THE ENDING) #Because she finally gets her freedom! She can go where she wants to and she doesn't need anybody! Yet...it doesn't fix her. #She is so focused on doing only what she wants that she forgets her own needs. Sometimes you have to eat the things you don't want. #And sometimes you have to face the hard truths that you need more than just one thing to make you happy. #Life is not all about only seeking pleasures and avoiding pain. You need to be balanced in order to grow. #Eat your vegetables (including the metaphorical ones: I am eating more art veggies this year by doing art studies!!!)

so back in april i had the idea to draw ace attorney characters as if they were in fantasy life (so essentially combining two of my favorite games) but only finished phoenix then. tonight i finished up the page with some more, and since we know what the new lives in fantasy life i will be, i got the excuse to include vera as an artist :))

So I finished this portrait a few days ago and even though I very much didn't like the pencils I used I think it came out pretty neat 🙂

#my art #derwent coloursoft #i tried giving them their best shot by using an alcohol marker base and odorless mineral spirits #but the grainy crayon look the pencils give was inevitable #and turns out they're very water soluble even though they're not supposed to be 😅 #so i think all the colors got diluted when i sprayed it with a fixative #as an artist grade pencil i expected different #dont hate em im just disappointed #but on the bright side i think my first attempt at the blur effect was a success

Hey y'all! Do you have any advice about making smoothies? Like, what kinds of fruit and veggies go well together, what combos very much don't work, and especially if you have any advice on what frozen fruits or veggies work best. I am thinking about trying making smoothies but I know pretty much nothing about it lol

I just really want to be eating more fruits and veggies before I end up with Yet Another Vitamin Deficiency #(my body processes several vitamins and minerals Very Wrong so I have to take...a lot of supplements) #(plus I am on medication to fix some of them that messes up other vitamins. it's a process) #and when it comes to ways to eat frozen fruits and veggies smoothies seem to be the best way #or maybe not best but most efficient? #I tried with non-frozen fruits and veggies but the produce in Tennessee goes bad SO QUICKLY #or at least so quickly compared to where I used to live #so...frozen! frozen fruits and veggies

Before I go to sleep I leave you all with this piece of advice: sometimes you don't actually have to answer big political questions, sometimes you can just say "I am not smart enough to know that, I just know the small things I do to help." Like you can often times completely avoid making a fool of yourself if you just say you don't know.
