#Marvel #Marvel comics #Marvel Zombies: Black White & Blood #Moon Knight comics #latest release #Moon Knight #Marc Spector #Khonshu #so yeah this is yet another story that ends on the incredibly bitter note of Marc fully handing the reins over to Khonshu #(with the added bonus of being zombified and eating former comrades) #but idk this page in particular got me thinking (on multiple things) so bear with me #firstly I find it increasingly interesting how in these short stories a reoccurring theme if the creators are going for the horror angle #is Khonshu taking full control and yeah that’s terrifying considering how much of modern MK comics are about restoring autonomy #both in the literal sense (shaking off Khonshu’s influence and kicking him to the curb) and in a more ephemeral sense (proving that #while categorically neurodivergent MK’s not just «some loony» but a dependable hero in his own right #so I guess it just gets me that in this case it’s a matter of sacrifice #that Marc would give up something he fought endlessly hard for to save civilian lives (although the creators succeed in making this #still feel like not a complete victory) #the other major things for me is Khonshu’s «faith has never needed rationality» which is…something I take personal umbrage with #that’s a common understanding of the term but arguably the strongest faith is born of rationality #the idea of logically coming to the conclusion that «I have combed through everything on this Earth and determined that there are something #outside the human understanding and thus I’ll hold strong to a faith in something not of this world #the fingerprints/evidences of which are still apparent even in this world too» #thus personally I see Khonshu’s statement there as another example of his oft-used manipulation: his attempts to convince Marc that #his mind and consequently Marc himself are unreliable and useless without Khonshu’s guidance #(i.e. overbearing and uncaring control) and tbh that’s pretty horrific

okay weird q incoming but what ways do you think speedsters can get sick? Like to my understanding, they can’t really come down with normal virus’ like the flu, right? But they could get things like chronic migraines?

NANOBOTS!!! This is one of the best pieces of canon lore ever. I did a whole post on it but TLDR: normal human metabolisms have so much shit going on that they don't even notice nanobots in their body BUT speedsters have hyper accelerated metabolisms that are the equivalent of the straight A's overachiever in school on meth. So speedster metabolisms do notice nanobots and they attack full force, triggering all of the body's defenses and responses.

But the nanobots are metal so it obviously doesn't do anything. It just leaves the speedster lethargic, feverish, vomiting, dizzy, with a headache, sore muscles and a runny nose, ect. It's basically an allergic reaction.

Now, poisoning them can work depending on what the poison is/what the dosage is. You would need a 100% fatal poison and you would need a fairly high dose. Because speedsters heal fast and they have a hyper accelerated metabolism, so any poison that is based on toxicity (alcohol poisoning for example) would be out of their system faster than it could even take effect.

But poisons that can't be cleared out/processed by the body (take cyanide for example, it binds with the chemical receptors in your body making it physically impossible to use oxygen) wouldn't really be affected by their metabolism at all. So while the speedsters could heal the damaged tissues from these poisons fairly quickly (making it seem as though they were only slightly affected) they would ultimately need time to do so, time they would not have if it kills them first. This isn't technically what you are asking because there would be no substance that 'makes them sick', there would only be 'fine', 'not fine for like a minute and then fine again' and 'dead'. (... unless they were hooked up to a steady supply of the toxin)

Likewise, (this is getting more into theoretical territory, less canon) there might be some illnesses that would affect them? Not for long but if you got something super fucking fatal like Rabies, it might make them display mild cold symptoms for a day or something.

I don't know though. They have really fucking good immune systems. And even super fatal diseases can be fought. Take my example of Rabies, while it is commonly thought to be 100% fatal once symptoms show up there actually have been cases of people surviving it. Rabies is a very stealthy and fast disease, so the main problem with treating it is that your body's immune system isn't fast enough to stop it. People have survived by being placed in medically induced comas (slowing their bodily functions and thus the disease) for long enough that the medication can eradicate it. So for a speedster? That's gone in a minute tops. You would need an insane disease that I'm not sure even exists.

There's also like... pregnancy and menstruation. Growing pains, muscle pain from running is a BIG ONE, being dehydrated/starvation, blood loss, ect. Lots of ways to fuck with a speedster in a way they can't immediately fix.

There are also speedster specific ailments. It's basically 50/50 if a natural born speedster gets a weird highly fatal aging disease. Sometimes speedsters can be born without a kinetic energy shield which makes using their powers at all incredibly fatal to them. All speedsters will have connectivity issues at some point that can be fatal. Sometimes Time Gets Bad™ (shout out to when Barry kept chronically stealing time from people/things every time he used his powers). Sometimes they have too much energy and can't maintain human form (shout out to when Wally didn't know what the speedforce was and was accidentally cosplaying Ghost Rider). Velocity 9 is a highly addictive drug that works on speedsters and makes them display typical addiction behavior (and withdrawal). V9 can also cause a speedster to 'overdose' (burst into flames/lightning/energy). They all have the constant urge to yeet themselves into the speedforce. Ect.

#here's the thing: they are made of speedforce but its not a skin deep thing. you feel me? like their CELLS are made of speedforce #so all shit still affects them #i keep saying that they don't need oxygen or food to survive and thats true but its only if they're actively compensating with speedforce #cause they can get energy from the speedforce or they can get energy from oxygen and food or both. they can't do neither #and they don't really *know* or understand that theyd be fine with JUST speedforce energy. they still think they need oxygen and food #so if they were suffocating or something they might instinctively crank up the speedforce to compensate but they're also very stupid #so they might just die. idk it really depends on who it is how much they know and how much SF they're drawing on #cause like... energy beings need energy yo #i hope this makes sense #the muscle pain one is interesting cause Wallys early runs are really big on the whole hitting the wall thing #he would hit a wall that he physically couldn't break through and it caused him a lot of pain. #some of that was not being hooked up properly cause Wally wasn't hooked up properly until he was an ADULT #because he is FUCKING INSANE and he just went 'huh i guess this is my limit and i will stay below it' liKE AN INSANE PERSON #anyway some of it was SF issues and some of it was mental but he actually got really really hurt anytime he got close to the wall #REALLY bad muscle pain. and like... it was potentially extremely fatal. 'breaking down your body into little bits' fatal #he doesn't get that anymore because hes properly hooked up now but jfc that man treated 'entering the death zone' like it was #the high score to beat at his local arcade. he took it as a fucking challenge. absolutely insane dude right there

best concept I came up with: Quentin Quire clone who's a cis girl (because he's trans) and is basically everything Quentin was both before he transitioned and before he. became Quentin (as in post Genosha/Jumbo Assassination/Finding out he's adopted/etc Quentin) and he HATES her because she's everything he left behind and everything he doesn't want to be reminded that he used to be (a girl, a loser, bullied, insecure, not cool enough, a nerd, even though he still is some of these things its very much more OBVIOUS on her than it is on him right now) and he keeps trying to push her into realizing she's trans and into becoming Him but once he realizes she just isn't going to do this and is happy as a girl (because being trans is not an inherent genetic thing fuck you!) he actively avoids her because it just straight up causes him dysphoria and emotional discomfort, and he doesn't want to be reminded that he used to be like that, doesn't want to be reminded of his old self and doesn't want HER to ruin HIS reputation. Even though literally nobody cares and probably half the people around him don't even know he's trans or remember what he was like before the Pink Mohawk.

I wish strong feelings and emotions had a better way to feel like they translate to physical space. For me, personally, I get that shit cranked to 11 and if I can't get that shit out there and verbalized or shown it ends up making me cry. Fear about loss and change and thinking 30 years into the future? Cry. Have so much love in your body at once and can't let enough of it get shown to those who matter to you? Cry a whole lot. I used to put it towards art and especially personal poems or made up song lyrics or something but idk. I can't be staying up sobbing at 4 am due to random thoughts. Its always when I feel like I'm doing my best that this happens, idk if its just processing everything.

I know my emotional regulation skills aren't the best and I often go from a thousand yard stare to crying or a laughing fit or something. I don't want to be like this really, and often times this does happen when I think about loved ones a lot when I'm alone and I just end up wishing I was around someone I can feel loved by and love so much. Maybe I just want to be anywhere besides this 'home' where I know I'm actively seen as a nuisance and treated as a lesser person.

#my advice #but this saying is sooo true #i know some people at uni who study for exam so long and hard but then fail or just barely make it :( #like what are you doing? i don't mean this in a mean way but it doesn't have to be this difficult #i don't understand how some people can study for an exam for 2 weeks or even a month and still fail and i don't think they're stupid #or i don't see myself as particulary smart #but i guess they just waste their time a lot and i realized studying effective is so important #now everyone is a bit different and has to find what works best for them but there are certain techniques which are proven to work well #there is so much information on the internet on this look it up seriously #it made my life sm easier i never struggled in uni like i did in school and i get good grades #and if i ever struggled a bit it was because i started so late it was almost impossible to pass 😂 #which is why to do both is still best 😂 #but i actually always made it and i never failed an exam at uni (which i studied for) #(two i was fooled into to just try without studying bc it's easy lol) #i mean i shouldn't speak too soon but i already made it through some of the most difficult of my studies #ofc it depends on what you study how well this works but i'm speaking for myself #i once passed an exam with a B studying only 2 days as one of the best students while others studied 2 weeks #and got worse grades or failed #still studying only 2 days is stupidity don't do it 😅 #so the techniques i find very helpful are ofc exam questions probably the best one #if there are none make your own #then blurting for which there are different ways but i like to just go over a topic and then write down everything i remember #then fill the gaps #quizlet is also great it's an app which allows you to create cards and then tests you in creative ways #videos can be helpful as well for summaries and using summaries in general is normally enough it saves you sm time #normally you don't actually need to know everything but you should be careful it's not a bad summary leaving out too much 😅 #and i also like mindmaps bc i'm a very visual person #but all those tipps are mostly for remembering information so it doesn't work so well for other fields of study #well i hope this is somewhat helpful idk 🙈 #oh and reading texts over and over again is the most useless in my opinion i don't remember much at all and it takes sm time

I think it’s gonna have to be dependent on whether how much he knows about them. He would definitely have to know them pretty well and just generally trust them. However I do think he’d have self-esteem issues that he masks with a tough persona.

I do think it's funny when Brazilians complain about Europeans being unhygienic or stinky for showering....only once a day. Because........ In most cultures this is a regular amount of showering. Like...it's not just Europeans. 2/3 times a day sounds nice, especially if you live in a mostly super hot country. I also gave myself the luxury of showering twice a day when I lived in Spain in summer - because - and this is essential - I took my showers cold/lukewarm. In winter showering more than once a day means spending tons of gas on heating water. I also shower twice a day in winter sometimes as a luxury, just because it's nice. But like. This is rare because it literally impacts your energy bill significantly. And is bad for the environment. And isn't really necessary. Again. Most people don't sweat a ton or get grimy doing mild mannered activities like grocery shopping and sitting behind a computer in cool weather. I also think it's interesting that it's such a european-focused disdain...I've come across it like that multiple times. Again. Unless I'm wrong, North America also has so many people who shower once a day. I don't think this is different for most of Asia and Africa? Or Australia or. Brazil is statistically uh the country in the world in which people shower the most.

sort of just dawning on me how i still have like, the levels of caution and paranoia that was sort of necessary back in like 2014-2018 tumblr where you could say Anything and you'd immediately get someone in your askbox misinterpreting it very angrily and violently, but the number of asks people send has gone down so much that i literally do not even have to worry about that anymore as a small blog. like it is literally a non issue. in 2014 i had like 5 followers and i'd get anon hate for saying something someone disagreed with and now i have 2.6k followers and no on gives a shit i get no mean asks anymore, but i still carry the anxiety from when it was the wild west out here
