Also, I tried to do dog breeds that aren't used often! Both as a personal challenge and also to find dogs I think that fit better.

Ghost: Akbash. Huge lifestock guardian. They're nice to family, but extremely protective, often clashing with strangers. Safe around kids, but not other dogs.

Soap: Scottish Deerhound. They're one of the few Scottish breeds meant to take down deer. Strong, athletic and the hair... y'all get it

Gaz: Belgian Malinois. They're common working dogs and well muscled. Most intelligent dog and Gaz is one of the smartest.

Price: German pointer. He's a working man, so he's a working dog. Pretty self explanatory

Alex: Australian Kelpie. Versatile, intelligent, one of the smartest dog breeds as well.

Farah: Afghan Hound. Before her country was taken over, she came from a well off family. She's incredibly strong and pretty and I feel it suits her.

Laswell: Blue Lacy. They're multipurpose and excellent at any job they're given. Also, they're such pretty dogs!

Graves: Bluetick Coonhound. They're literally hunting dogs who like sniffing people out, work best in packs and they're known for having pretty coats.

Alejandro: Hardest to pick. Still not happy with it. Anatolian shepherd dog. They tend to make packs and are wonderful pack leaders.

Rodolfo: Calupoh. Basically Mexican Wolfdogs. Fiercely loyal, stable and known to have a lot of tolerance. They also are distrustful of strangers.

König: Bernese Mountain dog. They're big, meant for hard work and rather sweet. I've heard before they're susceptible to anxiety but I can't find anything that backs that up.

Horangi: Basenji, this one was suggested by my friend! They're known as wild dogs and they kill their prey by jumping straight up to get it which is unusual for dogs. They also don't bark, instead they more scream.

Chuy: Borzoi. I'm not going to explain.

Reyes: Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. They're Canadian, energetic and intelligent.

You're right for telling people who have/pretend to have DID to keep their information private. If you're not diagnosed with a disorder like that and you receive tips or other income from people because they believe you do have it, that's fraud, and people like myself love to make sure that people who scam others out of money by lying about having DID get arrested for fraud and theft by deception.

So if you or anyone else is making money from claiming to have DID, you should probably make it harder for us to report you for fraud. It won't matter because you will eventually be found out and arrested, but since it's such a common scam now....

Idk, either you and people like you can stop lying and scamming people, or try a VPN to see if it prevents any consequences to your actions. It won't, but you can try.

Hi there anon. Who exactly are you addressing with this ask? I don't know who you mean with "you and people like you".

First of all, I make posts about Internet safety and privacy because a great proportion of people in online OSDDID and RAMCOA communities are minors or vulnerable in some way. Lack of information safety has been a massive problem in these spaces for years. I want people to be safe online and save themselves the trouble of broadcasting their trauma to Discord servers full of strangers. I don't encourage Internet safety so that purported "scammers" can prevent consequences of their actions.

I have a few years' experience in scambaiting. Since when is faking DID "a common scam" and since when are people getting arrested for it? I'm pretty sure the authorities are more concerned about bank fraud, hacking and ransomware, money transfer scams, and scam call centers impersonating the IRS, Canadian Revenue Agency, the FBI, Homeland Security... the list goes on.

Look, even if I was faking a horrific trauma-based disorder, I wouldn't be making any money off of this blog. Have you heard of DissociaDID, though? Prolific DID (and other disorders, like CFS and PNES) faker who makes a living off of it.

Hey Holly, any music you been keen on lately?

I've been listening to a lot of jungle & other similar electronic / dnb music lately. Lot of 4hero. Had some friends introduce me to their stuff and I've been chewing through their discography. (IDK if you remember that one "Tom & Jerry Maximum Booty Style" vid that was going around a while back - Tom & Jerry was one of the aliases 4hero used for their work sometimes, haha.) I had another pal recommend the "Jungle Fatigue" series of albums - real fun compilations of work from modern jungle artists. Liking them a lot!

I've also gotten back into Autechre recently because I realized I've only really listened to like 2 of their albums. I've heard a few singles but never went out of my way to listen to the albums they were from for some reason. I'm kicking myself a little for not doing that til now, but the second best time to get into something is always "right now", y'know? Plus it's fun to remember there's new things to listen to from artists you like. LOL

There's a Canadian jazz trio I like called Local Talent (James Hill AKA "Projectwhatever", Rich Brown, and Ian Wright, if those names mean anything to y'all) that I come back to every now and then. "Higien​ó​polis" is one of my favourite albums ever made. They have a second album called "REMOTISM" that I keep forgetting to listen to. Gonna do that tomorrow (or today if I have the time), but I liked the one song I heard off the album already, so I feel like me enjoying it is a foregone conclusion.

I’ve not heard of that at *all* and im generally pretty caught up on publisher news, so I think theres a pretty big library-shaped hole in my sources lol

All righty, a couple disclaimers here. One, this is from a Canadian library perspective, so idk how well it applies to the US. Two, I don't work in the collections department at my library, so I'm basing this off what I remember from class years ago

(also clarifying that I'll be referring to ebooks and audiobooks collectively as digital books just to make it easier)

But in short, the Big Five publishers only very reluctantly put up with libraries having physical books, and one of the reasons they do that is because only one person can have a physical book at a time. Digital books, though? Why, if a library has a copy of one of those, hundreds of people could read it at a time! That's profits they're losing! How terrible!

But, well, selling to libraries is still a sale, so the companies sell to them but restrict it as much as possible. One, libraries pay much more for digital books than your average consumer. I don't have the exact number, but it's significantly higher. Two, unlike a physical book, which a library can have rebound if it's popular but hard to find, and which could conceivably last years if it's hardcover or paperback binding, digital books have severe limits on them. Maybe the library can only buy one "copy" of a digital book - i.e., only one patron can use it at a time. That digital copy artificially expires after 20 loans or 2 years, whichever comes first. Got a waitlist of 50 people waiting to read the latest Alexander McCall Smith book? Too bad! 30 of them are gonna have to go without! Do you have a moderately popular book by Danielle Steel, which gets borrowed every couple of months? Sorry! You've had it for two years, so it's gone now! Better buy a new copy!

Now, this is the case on digital platforms like Libby/Overdrive. Each digital book acts the same as a physical book, except that most of them go away after a certain amount of time. Certain public domain books might be a one-time buy for libraries, but for the most part, every loan, every week that goes by is chipping away at a digital book's life. Certain digital platforms - Hoopla, for example - have what's called "simultaneous use" policies - maybe you only have one ebook copy of a book by Agatha Christie, but every library patron can read it at once. The trade-off for this is that my library has to pay a certain amount for every person currently reading or listening to a book on Hoopla. We have a daily budget that can't be exceeded. Every week we field calls from people who, one afternoon, wanted to open up Hoopla, but were told they couldn't take out any books - because too many of my library's 40 000 active patrons had also decided to enjoy a book that day. And not every publisher even allows simultaneous use licenses, or they don't allow it on all of their titles

A final reminder to this very long post: please do not boycott Libby or Hoopla over this, I beg of you. Your libraries are pouring a lot of money into them because they're being used. Instead, put pressure on the big five publishers to make their digital books accessible, and vote in your municipal elections to get libraries more funding so we have more budget to put into those items. An easy way to increase your library's funding is just to spend a bit of time a week in there. Hang out with your friend for a few hours, just walk in and look at the shelves, or sit there and use their free wifi to play games on your phone. Digital books are here to stay, and libraries are important for getting those books into people's hands

The green number denotes seeders, while the red number denotes leechers. "Seeders" are the number of people uploading the file, while "Leechers" are people downloading the file. I haven't really talked about my goals or current numbers on here, in part bc I was worried that if that was one of the first things I posted, whatever flagging bot gets used on here (I know, it's mostly crusaders who go thru the tags and mass repo blogs that gets us distapeared) would see those things and I'd be on their no-fly list immediately

plus, there's something to be said for the fear of saying something out loud, when I've not been the sort of person to stick to hobbies and things before

BUT

last week, I hit a goal of $125.4 (iirc), which means I hit a simultaneous goal of a 'healthy' -$5/month for 15 months straight, for a total of -$75.00 from my starting balance of $200.00

which, I honestly was having trouble being excited about hitting that goal bc of our common habit of rounding up, so any decimals next to that number it feel like I hadn't actually hit it, and I had worked REALLY HARD to get there, including a multi-mile treadmill walk and everything

BUT

my check in day is monday (start the week off informed!); on tuesday the monthly obnoxiousness started, and most of us who experience that will skip check in days that are close to it bc it messes with our bodies so much, so our measurements will be inaccurate

then, last week was spring break for my internship, but it's only two days a week, so I spent two days last week almost entirely sitting at my computer, working on my course work

meanwhile, in the same week, I clocked THEE MOST hours at my almost entirely outdoor, moderately physical job in about six months aka since about mid-fall, as late fall thru early spring is our slow season and things are now picking back up; I spent the week planting seedlings, repairing fences, running around after babies, and doing deeper cleaning now that things are warmer and deep bedding isn't so much of a priority

which, I spent last summer consistently dropping without thinking too much about it, tbh, and I'm pretty sure now that it's bc of this job (there was other stuff like switching from regular ice cream to halo top, etc, but on the whole I wasn't doing things like counting and I hadn't even made this blog yet)

and for meals this week, I seemed to average just about 1k; some days were higher and others were lower, some days I felt like an unwilling black hole and others I was just... fine after eating a small lunch/dinner (I keep weird hours, it was the final meal of the day for me, idk); plus, no semi-fraught Easter lunch with my family

that brings us to today's check in

officially, for realsies, under that $125.00 goal, and also the amount I claimed on my drivers license bc I thought it was funny and it was only a little lower than my actual amount BEFORE UNIVERSITY, AND very genuinely really close to a secret goal I've had since I heard it as a song lyric in 11th grade: $120.00

I know, it's such a silly thing to base a goal off of, and really highlights just how pervasive unrealistic body standards are, that some man stated it as the measure of a fictional grown woman he was writing about who you KNOW he envisioned as being 'curvy' and taller than a literal child

but I'm still gonna hit it

and yep, I'm once of those people who have reduced their goals over time; you think a number sounds really low, and then you find out how much people who look the way you want to measure in at, and realize that if that's where you wanna be, this number isn't going to have you looking like that unless it's mostly muscle, and I'm for sure not mostly muscle

anyways, introspection on societal pressures out of the way, this morning's breakfast was a 1/3 of a cup of egg substitute (50), two low f 'canadian bacon' slices (20 each for 40 together), a slice of lite toast (45) with lite country crock spread (about 1/2 a tblsp, so half of 35), and my coffee (25), so that's a relatively high f and protein breakfast for just under 200 (and of course we round up to the bigger whole number!)

I was hoping to feel satiated from that, but it's not quite hitting like yesterday's grilled cheese did; ah, well, just one more data point to take note of!

now, fingers crossed I can finish this presentation before work this morning!!!

okay advice time for travel + tattoos under the cut bc it got long

oh yeah I was gonna say you're from canada right? I think going through customs is a bit easier for US/Canadian citizens traveling between the two countries, but still good luck with the lines. other advice I have for traveling in another country solo... while you might consider getting your currency exchanged, almost everyone and everywhere takes card these days so as long as you have a card that can be used internationally (I believe mastercard and visa are pretty much usable in every country, although I'm sure if it's just between the US and Canada most cards are fine, just make sure to check). but also if you do wanna do currency exchange, wait until you're in the US to do that or else you'll get ripped off. once you're in the US just go to an ATM and withdraw cash from your bank account, and it'll come out in US dollars without the additional fee you'd get from going to a currency exchange place

OKAY TATTOO TIPS

I think most tattoo artists these days use second skin after giving someone a tattoo. it's basically a sticky thin sheet of plastic that the artist will put on top of the tattoo after it's finished, and usually your artist will instruct you to leave it on anywhere from 24 hours to several days. any artist worth their salt will properly explain how long to keep it on for, what to expect and look out for, etc. the second skin will protect the tattoo so you won't have to worry about it rubbing against fabric in the initial few days after getting it. although I'll say taking that stuff off is a BITCH it's like peeling a bandaid off but so much worse

however, your artist might not use second skin. out of my five tattoos, only two of the artists I've been to used second skin which is apparently unusual because from what I've heard from tattoo artists is that it's pretty much standard at this point to use it. however because only my latter two tattoos used second skin, I didn't realize that I have reactions to second skin that make it not suitable for me to use. you might have a reaction as well and that's ok! for me at least my reaction wasn't anything bad, it's just that I noticed a lot of redness around the second skin and when I took it off (earlier than I was supposed to) it left marks around my tattoo that didn't go away for 6 months. so yeah in the future if I go to an artist and they want to use second skin, I'm going to refuse because I've healed 3 tattoos perfectly fine without it. so if your artist doesn't use second skin (and tbh even if they do because you'll need this once you take the second skin off) buy some aquaphor. your artist is probably going to instruct you to wash the tattoo with antibacterial soap 2-3 times a day, and afterwards you should put a thin layer of aquaphor on top of the tattoo to protect it and soothe any dryness or scabbing. it might seem annoying to wash a tattoo so many times a day, but trust me once it starts scabbing you're going to want to wash it because it itches and the aquaphor calms it down.

having the tattoo on your ankle might be tricky since it's too cold to wear shorts, and the hem of your pants might rub against it. try to wear pants that are looser around your ankles (no skinny jeans or leggings) so that the fabric doesn't irritate it. and try to wear socks that don't touch the tattoo.

above all though, your tattoo artist should be able to tell you everything I just told you. don't be afraid to ask them questions. they want your tattoo to heal nicely bc that's their work! and just in general don't be shy to talk to your artist. my first two tattoos aren't bad by any means, but I don't love them because I was too anxious to properly communicate with my artist about what I wanted. don't be afraid to ask them to change something in the design, or if they put the stencil on and you want a different placement tell them! your artist is there to work with you so just talk to them :)

My music tastes are kinda everywhere(i listened to 86 genres this year!), but recently I've been really into indie and alt rock stuff :) my absolute favvvv band right now is The Happy Fits, they have really great high energy songs that I just wanna move to! Their song Too Late is the BEST I have it on like. 3 or 4 seperate playlists rn. I'm also a huge fan of like soft and sad music? Idk what the actual genre is. Think Renee Rapp and Conan gray.

I would really love the see the happy fits in concert(I think they just finished a tour recently too) but they don't tour internationally :( Renee Rapp does tour internationally(one of my friends went to her concert and sent me videos!!!) But I don't live in the two(2) canadian cities that artists go to soooo.... yeah. Tbh I would also really love to go to a one republic concert(they were my #1 on spotify this year!) For some reason even their new songs feel super nostalgic to me, idk but I'm sure it would be a blast!

Though I have seen lots of comedians in person, the only concert I've ever been to was Marianas trench like... 6? Ish? Years ago?

My thoughts on the ZB1 lineup.

Not proof read.

So while I don't HATE it, it's not the greatest. All the boys in lineup besides two are Korean. They dont even have a Japanese member. Keita and Jay were robbed fr but anyways. Here are my thoughts on the members, and just what I have to say about the group.

lets see if yall can tell who I'm probably gonna ult just by reading this lol.

P01 - Zhanghao: Honestly, ever since the 3rd elimination I was rooting for him to take over shanbin's spot just once. I thought it would be funny, iconic, and legendary if he did it. One thing I didn't expect was for it to happen in the finale. HOLY CRAP i was shocked. The first ever non Korean to win 1st place in an Mnet survival show, and one of the only few who in survival shows in general (from what I have seen anyways). He caught my eyes from he start, mainly because of his adorable ears that stick out. he wears them proudly and i love him for that. truly an icon. He doesn't suit Korean beauty standards, he was the nugu center, he had no prior fanbase, and he worked himself up from the bottom to the top. I am SO excited to hear his voice shine be itself in a solo song, and standout amongst the rest of the voices in ZB1 (I was bouta call them bep1er no joke). Charisma Zhanghao!!

P02 - Shanbin: I mean we all new he was debuting. He is the Korean center, hes been popular since day one, he is extreamly loveable, talented, FINE oh my gawsh (go look at the recent photoshoot he did omfg sir) He did a great job maintaining his 1st place spot until the end, and I salute to him forbeing able to hold it. I can already see it. The 5th gen IT boy! Or prince. Idk there are like 3 different titles he could have. He could also be the 5th gen ace or visual. Which one do Y'all think?

P03 - Matthew: I have been rooting for matthew since day one. As soon as i saw there was a Canadian on the show I jumped (as I am also Canadian lol). It was my lifes mission to make sure he debuted. After Haruto (my original 1 pick), I knew I was switching to Matthew and Jay ( I have been supporting Jay since 2019 it only made sense for me to continue so I voted them on seperate devices). Matthew has always just been there to make my day. Just looking at him makes me smile. I am so happy we managed to get him back up higher i the top 9. He was shocked when he heard his name, and so was I. I cried happy tears with his sister lol. I like spammed her in instagram congratulating her. it was an emotional 10 minutes. DESERVED MATTHEW SEOK

P04 - Ricky: I was not expecting to see him sky rocket that high. When I first heard his name I was like "His one pick was that strong!?". I didn't see many people voting for him online other than a small group on a discord server I am on. Don't get me wrong he was in my top 9 but I really didn't expect his fandom to come through at all. I am so proud of him, and so happy he ranked as high as he did. He truly deserved it.

P05 - Gunwook: While I was expecting him to debut, I didn't hink he would ran so high. I was expecting maybe between 7-9th area especially because he has never been above rank 9 before, but his 1 pick came in clutch. I know he has had a solid fanbase since the beginning of the shw, I just thought other people would make it in front of him? I almost cried when I saw he was called. I was like "Holy shit he actually made it!?!?!". Proud mother moment fr.

P06 - Taerae: to say I was shocked. I mean 3 days before he was 11th place!? I was not expecting his 1 pik to sky rocket THAT MUCH. I mean deserved! ZB1's highnote boi!! I love his vocal tone, and though he wasn't in my top 9 he was very close to it. He was like my 10th/11th pick I can't remember anymore, all I know is i am sad none of his other wakeone boys made it in the group with him and i really hope he adapts fast. He isn't as close with a few of the members from what i know but i am sure he will warm up. CONGRATS TAERAEEEE.

P07 - Gyuvin: Tbh, he didn't catch my eyes. I didn't hate him, I actually thought he was really cute and funny, I just though other people were a bit better than him. That was a while ago though. Over the past 3 weeks, Gyuvin grew on me a lot. While he may not be the most rounded, he is def talented and def deserved a spot in ZB1! I am very proud of him, and I as quite shocked considering he has dropped to 16th before. I didn't have much hope in his 1 pick, but I was pleasently surprised. SLAY GYUVIN!!!!!

P08 - Jiwoong: I knew he was going to debut, I just didn't know at what rank. He has always been one of my picks, ever since i first saw he was going to be on boys planet. I have watched his past dramas, and heard much good stuff about him. I am vry happy a BL actor has made it in the group, just because it can open so many oppertunities for zb1 in the western audience and really just any audience, jiwoong will also soon be staring in a new drama I believe so look out for them! I really cherish Jiwoong. I think he is very talented. The groups hidden all rounder if you would. I can see him or ZHanghao being an amazing leader, but I thik I would perfer Jiwoong be leader.

P09 - Yujin: Just like Gyuvin, he was kinda just there for me throughout the show, but I am sure as he gets more screen time and we get to see the real him, he will grow on me more. I have never at any point ever hated any of the trainees. they are all sweet to me in their own ways, and some more than others. I am very proud of Yujin, and in my op he isn't too young to debut. I could argue that here for hours but I would rather just leave it at this and if you are curious to as why I think that just ask me in the comments. Also, seeing Yujin and Jiwoong harmonize the other day...man... that kid has a voice, hes just a teenager lol, so ofc his voice is gonna crack and change and sound weird at times. I think he deserved this spot a lot tbh, he is a great maknae for the group!

SO overall, I do really like this lineup. I am def going to be ulting this group, I know that for sure. 6/9 of my picks made it (Matthew, SHanbin, Zhanghao, Jiwoong, Gunwook, ricky)

keep in mind though, since this is 5th gen, they may just discard the whole "position" thing and have them all do a bit of everything considering they all have very unique voices (especially Hao, Taerae, and Jiwoong. Somewhat shanbin) but if we are following your usual 4th gen 9 member group structure, i think these would be the positions.

now... line distribution... well.

Most to least:

Shanbin 30+ seconds

Taerae (he will have a lot of adlibs) 17-20 secs of acual lines +10 for adlibs

Zhanghao 24-27 seconds

Gunwook 20-23 seconds

Matthew/Jiwoong (back and fourth it depends) 15-17 seconds

Gyuvin/Yujin (same with Jiwoong and Matthew) 14-16 seconds

Ricky (I just have that really good feeling hes the Xiaotng of the group) anywhere between 8-17 seconds (hes's mostly last cuz he will vary)

I don't know how much it has merit but the angle of Alfred at first being ecstatic about the transfer of New France to England's 'care' thinking that Quebec would simply be incorporated into existing colonies and instead being met with that 1774 Quebec Act: No you may not extend your borders further that land does not belong to you. It's your brother's. His people are free to speak French and keep their religion. Civil and private law remains French; common and public law are English. Does this work in practice? Good lord no but the rhetoric has an impact nonetheless. The message is heard - He's not the same as you.

This acknowledgement of the purely pragmatic 'how does one stop the French Canadians from rebelling too much post defeat' laws that the English introduce can be read to Alfred as Matthew getting special privileges. He doesn't have to conform as much as Alfred does. Meanwhile Arthur's bending over backwards (doing the bare minimum in reality) to keep this wee one's people quiet.

So then it becomes this sort of... weird jealousy thing where Alfred expected Matthew to become part of him, potentially beneath him even, only for Arthur to cobble together some desperate and probably short-sighted declaration which ensures that Matthew will remain distinct and separate from his brother for years.

For Arthur it's just the pragmatic and slow application of integration into the new state of being. They're finally safe and all is as it should be. He's got both his boys with him now whatever needs doing to keep them by his side is the right course of action right? Like Fine you can use the seigneurial system again you funky wee lad. Yes, you can have the land that France gave you... What do you mean Alfred thinks that land should be his?

And then for Matthew it's a confirmation that maybe his father isn't as monstrous as he's been told. That actually Arthur can act in Matthew's people's best interests (when in the right mood) and these declarations of rights and privileges are a reassurance. Like of course it's not good particularly but it could have been worse? Or so baby Matthew tells himself. Besides, papa gave you up so easily and just for some sugar. Father fought a war to get you. What would you think in that scenario? The one who fought for you is now letting your people for the most part continue on as they had. Is that done put of respect? Love? Something else?

For Alfred... it's just another coercion (born of proto-tolerance oh the irony mwaa). And the fact that Arthur wasn't even thinking of Alfred at all when he did it stings even more. Alfred? Not being the centre of attention?? Impossible. That attention instead being gifted to Matthew? An intolerable act. He doesn't see it as Arthur trying to do a balancing act, no, for Alfred it's Matthew being rewarded for contributing nothing and being preserved as different and distinct from him. When it should all be Alfred's anyway. There's such an entitlement there.

Idk. I just like the idea of an Alfred who gets easily jealous and resentful when he thinks Matthew is even for a second receiving more care and attention, even if from Arthur's point of view England is acting more for pragmatism instead of any preferential treatment towards Canada. Matthew meanwhile is sort of still reeling from so easily being handed over that he's just trying to figure out what to think of Arthur. How much of this tolerance is kindness? How easily is it taken away?

Matthew (and by extension Alfred) would probably get his answer before the decade was out.
