The thing about writing fanfiction for me is that once I start a multi-chapter fic (tho I've only ever posted a grand total of 2 ever lol both still unfinished rip OTL) I apparently never brainstorm enough. Or too much! 'Cause by nature I live for "what ifs" and it's wrecking me lol, I can't move on...! But this is a Modern AU setting and now I can't stop developing Shibi and Shino in a general sense (and Shibi's involvement is very minor compared to other characters too like I need to chill??) But I guess this goes for my Modern AU in general, so here's are some thoughts no one asked for!

One big HC I have is that Shibi is a well renowned musician, and Shino also has a lot of talent in music as well. This is because in my head, though Aburame and their hive can communicate to some degree, they're also known to be affected by their respective Aburame's emotions. And they audibly buzz and get excited by it all and I seemed to unfailingly liken all that to vibrations, like of musical sounds, and then it kinda leads up to that fidgeting a person might do when they get very emotional or passionate but can't voice it because they need to stay quiet or simply don't know how to talk about something. In general I think both Shibi and Shino are decent enough communicators when it matters, but they ARE pretty quiet people. And I feel like one of the best ways to release and express otherwise pent up emotional tension and energy is by straight up blasting music to drown out everything else. And it feels even MORE satisfying by the end of it when you're the one who was actually putting out the notes!! Anyone can make noise, but truly inspired music is such a trip! Every single note accounted for (even the "rest" notes!!) symbolizes 1 kikaichu and so just the idea of being able to read and produce music and bringing it all to life just makes complete sense to me and fills me with serotonin when I think about Father/Son jamming sessions between them...!!!

And! And despite this being a Modern AU HC thing, it looks like Shino's actually been shown to semi(?)canonly play an electric guitar, and I've become fond of the idea of Shibi's first instrument being a bass guitar too~

Of course if that's the case, OBVIOUSLY Shibi would be a multi-instrumentalist. Obviously. And what I've been thinking is that by the time Shino is an adult. Shibi'd be a seasoned Film Score Composer. I feel like unless you're quite the music or movie fan, or work in the business, you probably aren't gonna be super into the composers in comparison to the actors and directors that work on the same movie lol So to the general public, Shibi Aburame isn't a name that brings out stars in anyone's eyes. But if you know, you know, and boy does Shibi have his work cut out for him. He's in demand for lots of those box office hits.

Also YES Shibi can sing, and he knows it, the man isn't the least bit shy to acknowledge it! But he never committed singing as a major part of his career as much as playing because that's just the kind of guy he is. These days he won't sing unless it serves a purpose in brainstorming for his next project or if he's in the privacy of his car/home, but even then it's more just soft but super accurate harmonizing on his part to a radio or stereo or whatever. But if Shino ever needed comforting, especially as a small child, he'd never hesitate to lull Shino back into calm with songs that he either liked or maybe made up together if the situation was appropriate. And ocassionally he'll start to sings at Shino as a means to annoy his son because why talk when you can sing to get your point across?? He's not always a serious guy, sometimes he can get soft too...!

Shino? Can also sing and play well without much effort at all. Though Shino didn't take it up as a career like Shibi did, and not as many instruments, Shino is definitely his father's son and is just as musically inclined. He could've if he wanted to but found he a had a strong preference to percussion and string specifically, and even then prefered plucking and strumming versus bowing strings, but his favorite bowed string is a cello! And being part of the newer generation, he might mess around with a laptop software/button pad/launchpad if he's feeling particularly inspired or wants to challenge himself a little more. But his bestest baby is the first electric guitar he bought on his own ;o;

Shino is more likely to sing at any given time in comparison to Shibi, but he's still usually alone, whether wiping off the board after class, doing chores, or maybe grading papers. Kiba and Hinata have both caught him doing so since they first met him, and Hinata compliments his talent when she does, but Kiba starts to dis his choice of music when he realizes Shino sings a lot older or obscure music "like a fucking hipster!" Shino doesn't dis Kiba's personal taste in music as much as disses Kiba for his lack of open mindedness and it makes Kiba rethink everything when Shino is able to play the melody of every song Kiba throws at him the first time he comes over to his house. Shino is very eclectic in his taste of music, but some of Shino's favorite genres for singing are indie pop, blues (especially older ones), and the occasional toned down but no less accurate musical number or power ballad just imagine him whisper singing fcking "Jukebox Hero" while he's scribbling notes vvvvrrmm.

Unlike Shibi or Shino, Torune isn't so big on making music as he is listening and writing poetry/lyrics DON'T TELL ANYONE SHHHH FCKIN SH. It's not that he doesn't have talent, he can also sing rather well and owns karaoke night, he is karaoke king! It not quite a discipline problem as it is a drive thing as he never seriously touched more than two instruments. He can manage about 4 chords on guitar, just enough to impress, but oddly enough he was drawn to and became terribly enamored with Shibi's vibraphone. He studied that thing profusely and whenever he comes back to visit from college and after, he always comes back to it and plays it as if he never skipped a day of practice. Will probably own his own vibraphone at some point for sure! So scratch that, it's simply a Family Jam Session I guess!

hey so remember this fun little ditty i wrote a while back--

--that was actually the pitch of @adreamingofguns but i latched my nasty little teeth into it and ran off into the landfill sunset slobbering and flailing my head around???

anyway so i don't remember exactly how much of the pitch was Nick's doing but the point is that i grabbed it and ran lmfao and thus, If Happy Little Bluebirds Fly

i actually re-read my own fics a lot, especially when i'm stuck. i've always been REALLY PLEASED and PROUD of how i wrote If Happy Little Bluebirds Fly so i'll go back to that and try to siphon The Juice from it. well, i was reading it recently (and i tweaked a name in the third chapter for fun Suggestion - can u find it?) and i was ho-humming at the end of the fic.

i'm not really sure if readers understood entirely what happened at the end there, and i never did anything with it - and honestly, i'd never planned to. .. not really, at least. the idea was there. i thought maybe it'd be a fun thing to pursue sometime after GOOMT but hEHh,

i'm like. well. what IF, indeed. and ofc this is another AU that'll probably never see the light of day outside my vivid hallucinating while trying to go to sleep or staring into the wild pale yonder (very disco of me tbh), BUT LET'S WORKSHOP IT TOGETHER EH

anyway uh if you haven't read the fic that's chill idk if anyone cares about the ~spoiler~ but SHRUG

RUNDOWN of the fic (in 3 easy chapters i pwommy) is that Harry and James initially meet waaay back in the day when James takes Mary to go see Mary's favorite pianist in concert. (that pianist? Jodi Mason. really makes u think) James and Harry literally run into each other during intermission, small chat, hi Mary! then they go back in. after the show, while James and Mary are waiting for the elevator, the Masons show up to ruin lives and the snowball keeps rolling down the hill.

James and Harry meet in SH and together, bring Heather home. they raise her together, though their relationship is extremely tumultuous, rly kinda toxic lmao, really just. riddled. with Bruh and love and it's disgusting. they love each other and their daughter but there is A Lot that's suggested. ends with them celebrating their anniversary (which is, coincidentally, Heather's birthday!!!)

but i gave a peek into Mary and James's relationship (and touched Jodi and Harry's relationship on the nose) and that was a lot of fun :3

naturally the au takes place when James and Harry figure this out. 'Silent Hill Is On Its Bullshit' Senses Tingling.

now, quick note is that neither of them were IN Silent Hill the first time for very long at all. their time there overlapped and it was and wasn't meant to be intentional by the town. i don't think it knew what to do with the timing. it was great but also hhhhhhhh in its "eyes" but anyway, point is, James's got a Leave ending with Harry and baby Heather, he didn't get any conduit nonsense going on, he was probably in the town upwards of a week and a shake before he met up with Harry.

Harry, on the other hand, was probably in SH for a little over a week before he met up with James. James hadn't even really.. "finished" his arc..? which is important when they realize what the fuck just happened and oh god DAMMIT they gotta go to SH to get their fucking daughter back

i'll admit, this AU is certainly Dark. like, a&s is dark, but if you take into account what this one entails, oh buddy MAN is this one gonna be a rough fucking ride LOL like look

these two love each other to their depths but their relationship was havoc at times. i alluded to it, but there was a suicide attempt that Heather unfortunately got to see, and was probably dug up in therapy at some point. they argued and Heather remembers James not coming home some nights, or weeks, or months, and yeah, there was cheating from both James and Harry, they did NOT learn how to cope lmfao and did NOT process their wives' deaths very well, ESPECIALLY YOU, JAMES--

-- since he didn't get to have that closure like at the end of SH2. his and Harry's plots got mashed together, and Harry's took all importance with the Alessa/Order problem. as you can imagine, James has a LOT of unfinished business in SH.

they DID, though, see a lot of each others' SH and baggage, which is super important ofc to how they lived out their lives, and their lives together as a family and as fathers. stuff to keep in mind too, there are A LOT of unresolved problems between the two of them and a LOT of things repressed; and it's really just sad how much Heather actually remembers from her childhood that she'd've preferred remained stomped doooown down in the ground

Harry's Jeep is still crashed and fuckin pwnt in SH, and James's Pontiac is still at the observatory. they actually try to go in through South Vale i think to the observatory but ARE BLOCKED (!!!!!) on the road

a trucker

unfortunate business really :( this guy, this poor trucker's got his trailer in the middle of the road, taking up both lanes, looks like there was a minor accident here :( he apologizes to them and says that he's trying to get a hold of someone to help him with this, awful sorry. he redirects them instead: they can head in via Central Silent Hill, or they can go in via Shepherd's Glen. ur choice.

the trucker's a really sweet dude this Travis Grady, what a darling, obviously from Alabama, he's good humored and all but man. man there's something about him that's just. hrm.

well they decide to try to get in through Central Silent Hill though it means they'd have to go AAAALLL he way around the lake again (fuckin Toluca Lake) and ignore that Shepherd's Glen is closer, but agree that Travis had Weird Vibes and that the blockage seemed intentional which Great. Love That. Super Duper.

I ALSO DON'T THINK CYBIL WAS THERE THE FIRST TIME AROUND

ACTUALLY,

i think she's going to show up THIS time instead. which DOES mean older lady cop Cybil B) ur so welcome for that

SHE'S probably in SH herself looking for someone, or following a lead. not sure. something tells me it has to do with Alex? they might pass each other on the drive, so they see/pass Cybil's car heading in and take the exit towards Shepherd's Glen and she saw them on passing ofc.

things are TENSE the entire time bc i think that the discovery of Heather's kidnapping really was just a Bad Feeling and so they got up from the piano and went to her room and 404 DAUGHTER NOT FOUND

her phone was still on the bed tho, and the call was still active. Harry goes to pick it up and listen to the line and ask who the fuck's there and just hears someone sigh on the other end and hang up

(later, Harry's like, that situation was very Liam Neeson in Taken wasn't it lmfao wish i had the monologue memorized and James is like yeah now that you mention it. holy fuck lmaooo)

after that, Heather's phone bricks/locks itself up good and tight and useless to them. while they're really starting to panic, a radio turns on!

i’m liking tfatws, the second episode was veryyy intense imo but WANDAVISION IS SO GOOD😭 i knew it was going to be my favorite from the really old trailer but it’s really good and i promise it’s not just sitcoms, girl especially cuz you’ll have all the episodes already out- we were having to wait every week😭 BUT ITS SO GOOD I PROMISE HDJSHDJSH lmao reading this i was like “i- the episodes aren’t an hour long” but i feel that, it’s hard for me to watch tfatws bc they are an hour long and i’m like 😐 but wandavision episodes are less than 30mins bc I KID YOU NOT they have the damn 10 MINUTE CREDITS DHDJSJ no i don’t think we’ve talked about this b4 lol but it all depends on the series for me. i binged love island uk in less than a week bc i was so invested and LITERALLY LOVE IT but uh those episodes are like an hour and a half, but say i was binging tfatws (it’s so hard to type that ohmigosh) i honestly would not be able to do it bc of the intensity (you may be like what intensity but if you’ve seen episode 2 by the time you’re reading this.......... isaiah and the scene afterwards is all i have to say, esp me being black it was so tough :/)

for example i could say Einführungsveranstaltungsteilnehmer (which is not underlined with red by tumblr because it is a grammatically correct compound word (i think that‘s what they‘re called?)) which is the words introduction + event + participant, so that word just means “participant of an introductory event“ but instead it‘s one word? i hope that makes sense? dkdkkdksks i mean it makes sense in german but idk if it makes sense to you cause idk if i‘m explaining it very well lmao,

I used to watch all of my series in German (like H2O) bc obviously they were on german tv so they were german- and i knew that most of these actors i saw on tv were american and i was always SO fascinated that they all learned german for this show??? Whether it was messaging Crystal about nothing, or replying to her tweets with nonsense, Gigi spent almost every minute she was online interacting with her. Despite the fact she made her crush on her new friend incredibly obvious, Gigi refused to actually acknowledge it. Jan and Nicky were the most determined to try to get Gigi to crack, but the most Gigi would say that Crystal is just really nice and funny, and would change the subject immediately. Crystal, however, made this promise extremely hard to keep. As unfamiliar the feelings Gigi had whenever she talked to and flirted with Crystal were, she liked them. A lot.

Gigi came to realize that this made her feel vulnerable, which she was also not used to in the slightest. Gigi loved to pretend that she did not have feelings, and if she could, she would keep up that facade for the rest of her life.

On top of all of this, Gigi felt guilty about keeping this from Jan. Jan had a handful of flings and even a girlfriend since they had become friends, and she told Gigi every single detail about the various girls and the experiences with them, and even cried to Gigi for days when said girlfriend broke up with her. Gigi wanted to give that energy back.

Gigi weighed the pros and cons of telling Jan. The only con was that Jan would know that Gigi is capable of feeling emotions, which she didn’t like, but she was able to convince herself that it wasn’t that big of a deal. So, when Gigi had gotten home from cheer, she enlightened Jan.

Gigi did not tell Crystal that weekend. She didn’t tell her the next weekend, either. There were a couple of letters Gigi had written in her notes app confessing her feelings for Crystal, but they never made it out. Every time she went to copy it to send to Crystal, she backed out.

Crystal had noticed the shift in Gigi’s energy almost instantly. The girl who was usually confident and witty almost always seemed nervous and somewhat irritated, and would always deny it and change the subject if Crystal mentioned it.

Crystal couldn’t help but be upset about this; she was extremely emotional and took almost everything to heart! Her brain had instantly come up with the conclusion that Gigi figured out she liked her, and was uncomfortable with it. Deep down, Crystal knew this didn’t make sense, as Gigi would still flirt with her occasionally. Gigi would’ve stopped if Crystal liking her made her uncomfortable, right?

The old Gigi came back one day. It had only been two weeks since this had started, but to Crystal, it felt much longer.

Crystal grinned. She wasn’t sure why this in particular made Gigi go back to normal, she found it extremely odd but she was not going to complain. Crystal had missed this.

When she headed to the store to get the hair dye, Crystal updated Gigi on everything happening; the stray cat she saw, the fact that the only non-natural hair color available was neon green for some bizarre reason, even the fact that Crystal knew the cashier from school. Gigi knew Crystal was doing this because she had missed feeling close to her, and Gigi loved every single minute of it.

Crystal stopped updating her when it was time to actually dye her hair, saying she didn’t want her phone to be green. Gigi understood but was sad; she wanted to keep talking to Crystal to make up for the two weeks they had gone without talking for more than ten minutes at a time. She told herself that it was okay, they were back to normal and as long as she didn’t fuck up again, she could have Crystal back for good.

A couple hours later, Crystal finally returned.

When the image loaded, Gigi’s stomach dropped. Not because Crystal was ugly, she was the complete opposite. There was no doubt that Crystal was beautiful, even her teeth were perfect. Her brown eyes were rich and soft, and her hair was shoulder-length and very curly. The neon green looked great on her. She had even found a filter that put little dinosaurs on her rosy cheeks, Gigi thought that filter was made for Crystal.

ok so first of all it’s just a badly written episode. like chibs my dude my bro my pal why the Fuck did u think having the master just Exposition at the doctor for 40 minutes was a good idea. why did u think that i would care about any of the 4??? side characters (i can’t even fuckin remember how many there were!!!) when they are just. complete nonentities. why should i care about obi-wan ko sharmus sacrificing himself when he’s just. There. and his backstory gets explained 5 seconds before he dies and it’s not even that interesting. wHyYyyy would u leave Time Lord/Cyberman Hybrid for the last 5 minutes and then have them just stand around doing nothing!!!! why on GOD’S GREEN EARTH would u take the genuinely interesting concept of a cyberman zealot/cult leader and then just be like ‘ye so he wants to be a robot and also he has a big Death Bomb now for some reason’. like having the master point out that it’s a dumb plan doesn’t make it any less of a dumb plan aaaahhhhhhhhh

1. where the kid came from, which honestly...... isn’t that interesting a question bc it’s either like another planet/dimension or mayyyyybe it’s some sort of stable time loop thing idk but like. yawn. sorry maybe other people find that exciting, it sounds extremely boring to me.

and 2. we don’t know the full extent of what the doctor did w/ the Division (which. god i can’t stop thinking about the video game whenever i see that name) but like........ ok let’s say maybe the doctor did Bad Shit when they were w/ those time lords. that’s kind of the implication right? either they were forced to do bad shit or they initially voluntarily did bad shit and then rebelled and that’s where ruth!doctor comes in. like that seems the most likely trajectory that storyline takes

“oh but morbius doctors explained!!” u think the casual audience knows or cares about the fuckin morbius doctors??? im not a casual viewer and i don’t even give a shit about the morbius doctors. im sure people do!!! i know people do But God Jesus Christ the last thing dr who needs to do is continuously go back into its own history to fix plot holes that really aren’t important to any of the characters at all. it’s a 56 year old show, there’s gonna be inconstencies and unless “““fixing”“““ those inconstistencies leads to actual interesting stories i Just Do Not Give A Shit

and like i get the feeling that this whole thing was smth chris chibnall has had in his head since forever, like this was his Big Bold Plan when he was a young guy watching classic who. and like. i get wanting to do that story now, but... the show has moved on, the world has moved on. he can do whatever he likes, but things have in fact happened, and sometimes you gotta adjust your big dream story to account for those things that have changed. sure, every showrunner is completely entitled to do with the show what they want, BUT the audience is still experiencing the show as one continuous story, and you gotta take that into account unless you want it to be super jarring for them! you want the master to blow up gallifrey, but gallifrey has been blown up + brought back in very recent history? find another way. this story could easily have been done without destroying gallifrey. i mean, have the master kill some time lords, sure, whatever. but keep them around! have them react to the doctor finding out the truth, have them confront each other!!! isn’t that a much more interesting story, anyway?

here are my main points:

- like the cartmel plan before it, it takes away far more mystery than it adds. it takes the vast and endless Unknown and turns it into like... a “mystery” plot the size of your average scandinoir thriller. before, the doctor’s life before an unearthly child could be anything you want. now it’s.... this

- the actual execution of it is bad. the dr sits in a cage for 40 minutes and is shocked and then she gets over it in that same episode

- it robs the doctor of a certain kind of agency and accountability. instead of a privileged time lord who got better through their travels and companions, now they’re an abused, adopted child who was always an outcast. and that’s not like..... an inherently bad story!! i get why that resonates with people, i do. BUT BUT BUT....... why does that have to be their story. why does that have to get shoved into the doctor’s backstory when that could be the story of a companion? why are you replacing one story when you could be creating new ones?

i think actually that’s my Main Gripe with all of this.

why is this the doctor’s story?

for an era that is supposed to be all about inclusivity and diversity and Space For All, why is the end result that the companions get shoved to the side in favour of doing gallifrey and the master again, in favour of Lore, in favour of the fuckin morbius doctors? why would you dangle jo martin in front of my face and then reduce her to the Magical Black Woman trope in this ep? why does the character who has up to this point been portrayed by 13 white men and 1 white woman, get the backstory about being an adoptee, why are you making all these past doctors people of colour and of different genders, instead of just... acknowledging that doctor who’s past wasn’t very diverse, and forging ahead with NEW stories instead.

doctor who thrives on change, but this isn’t.... like it’s not going forward. it’s looking back and prioritising the past instead of focusing on the present, on the new generation. i didn’t like s11 much, but not using any past monsters was a good refreshing choice! no, they weren’t all great, but we got stuff like demons of the punjab and ITYA out of it, stories that were genuinely great and new. and in many ways s12 was an improvement, but going so full-in on classic monsters and stories... it felt like a step back.

i want new stories. tell me about yaz. tell me about ryan. tell me about places that aren’t england or gallifrey or other places we’ve been to. tell me about monsters that aren’t the daleks or cybermen or time lords. tell me about new mistakes the doctor makes. let her fuck up now, in the present. let her make bad decisions, let her do shitty things now, not lifetimes ago. let graham, yaz and ryan fuck up. let the fam clash with each other, really clash, not this half-assed stuff we had this season. tell me new stories with these new characters, that i still feel like i barely know despite having had two full seasons with them.

How I feel about this character

A+ captain 👌. He puts up with so much shit and loves his team so much and he’s such a good character okay, so much respect. That whole arc where he quits basketball and Kiyoshi has to convince him to play and you can just Tell he still loves the game he’s just been severely discouraged (”I know that! that’s why I’m so bored every day!”) that was *chef’s kiss*. I also love the bit where he asks Riko how he can make shots under pressure and she threatens to break his shit for every one he misses and he Actually Agrees like goddamn. That’s dedication. Also this absolute NERD collecting army general figures (people pass it off as him forcing a new hobby when he’s quitting bball but he actually does seem to love them and know a lot about them and I love that). He’s so good. His relationship with the whole team is so good and his ability to lead them and keep even the uppity freshman duo in line is perfect. Quality organic senpai material.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Riko (100% canon team parents and that one valid straight ship. I love how they can be this terrifying evil duo and still so sweet with each other, how they support each other and get on each other’s nerves and still have each other/the team’s back at all times. wholesome af)

Kiyoshi (their whole relationship is amazing, from the way they meet and Kiyoshi’s pestering and Hyuuga refusing to acknowledge that he’s right and they work well together, and then finally getting his shit together and that Promise he makes when Kiyoshi is injured?? good shit good shit. I also like him, Kiyoshi and Riko as a poly trio.)

Mibuchi (I MEAN. Mibuchi’s interest in Hyuuga is canon and the way he’s so flirty with him is actually pretty adorable. I’d love for them to actually be a couple with Hyuuga trying to be the stoic unfazed cool guy and then Mibuchi opens his fucking mouth and he turns into a blushing stammering mess)

Izuki (what can I say I love ships that come with banter. these guys have got some long-standing history too, and I’m always a sucker for that. Izuki would drive Hyuuga up the fucking wall but they’ve also got some major camaraderie and obviously care for each other a lot. it’d def never be boring when they’re together)

Sakurai (get that apologetic mushroom. the dynamic between these two is so odd but it kinda just works for me, esp Sakurai’s sulkiness trying to prove he’s better that he doesn’t really show anyone else)

Kasamatsu (give me them good captain ships hells ye. I feel like Kasamatsu’s really come to respect him by the second Kaijo/Seirin game and they’re both such tough unyielding characters I’d love to see them get to be soft together)

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Kiyoshi (I can’t have a non-romantic OTP without it also working as a romantic ship can I) what can I say, the reason they work so well as a ship is also the reason they work so well as friends. The history and mutual trust between them, the determination and the promise that binds them together, they’re just such a good pair no matter how they fit together. They’ve also got a healthy dose of exasperated teasing banter about them and you know I eat that shit up.

My unpopular opinion about this character

Blond Hyuuga is valid. *braces self*

LISTEN my kink is long hair ok and even if he’d gotten it cut again I kinda wish he’d kept the color the bleached blond works with his eyes. Fight me.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

Guy wears rimless glasses and plays basketball and you’re telling me he never gets them broken even once? It’s not so much a suggestion for improvement as much as a nitpick for realism’s sake, but it was the first damn thing my roommate pointed out about him and now I can’t stop thinking it.

Izuki

How I feel about this character

ALL HAIL THE PUN MASTER. Tbh I kinda wish I spoke some modicum of Japanese just so the majority of this guy’s jokes wouldn’t fly over my head, but still, even from what my ear and the subs have been able to gather, game recognize game. Izuki’s just an enjoyable character tbh, the way he puts his all into basketball with the rest of his team, the way he’s been playing the longest out of all of them and polished his skills over time, his intellect, his good jokes and absolutely TERRIBLE jokes and the way he harasses/bonds with Hyuuga, he’s such an all-around good egg and I don’t see him get enough love.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

This list will be pretty short bc there aren’t all that many people... he interacts with one-on-one in canon? Which is kinda a shame tbh.

Hyuuga (As I said above, they’ve got history, they poke each other and get up in each other’s space and still have a rock solid foundation of support and trust for each other they’re a pure ship)

Kiyoshi (who on this team wouldn’t love this big lug to pieces? these two seem to be the only ones in Seirin with any common sense [at times they’ve also both got their fair share of nonsense to be sure] and have their own respectively odd personalities that would probably mesh really well together)

Takao (I talked about their birds-of-a-feather dynamic before in my list for Takao and I stand by it. they’re a good match with lots in common and the sass would be Endless)

Hayama (the ONE PERSON he gets to laugh at his jokes. they’re such an unlikely fit but I love the idea of the two of them just wreaking havoc as a couple)

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Koganei (say whaat at last a purely platonic relationship for this question). They’re such good bros tho, idk if I could see them as a couple, per se, but the way they play off each other is always hilarious and the way they each do their part to work together and support the team is fuckin wholesome. The arc of them working with Kiyoshi to form Seirin’s team in the first place is quality, and the shenanigans they get into over the course of the show never fail to delight me. Just a solid, good friendship that I’m here for.

My unpopular opinion about this character

LET HIM MAKE PUNS. This is more a disagreement with the characters in the show itself than with the fandom, but this guy is fuckin witty (even if his jokes are often groan-worthy, the wordplay itself, from what I’m able to understand, is really clever and that shit’s not easy to come up with on the spot). I respect his efforts and enthusiasm, at least, and as someone whose personality also revolves around lame jokes I will defend this guy to the grave.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

We get the briefest, barest mention of him being the one who’s played basketball since way back in grade school and therefore being the most experienced player, but it’s way in season 3 and is never really explored in any depth. Can we get some more backstory/growth for this guy, please? He doesn’t suffer from a lack of screentime (none of the Seirin guys do really) but I think a few of them do suffer from a lack of character development, and this guy’s got the foundation for something great I’m just not sure it was followed through on as well as it could’ve been.

Tbh considering how well all the characters — even minor ones — in a show like, say... Haikyuu!! are fleshed out and given time and ways to grow and change, I just wish some of KNB’s supporting characters got the same love. It’s one of the show’s main weaknesses and while it doesn’t necessarily detract from the experience, there’s definitely some room for improvement there and I’m just kinda sad we didn’t get it.

MCs background chapter 8: Resurrection

Honestly, this chapter is just as nonsense as it was in my head. It took me awhile to write it bc what the hell. How did I even wrITE THIS DJWJW. I’m sorry if it doesn’t make sense bc honestly idk what was going on in my head. I still loved the idea tho. Plus, i don’t even know exactly what happened and I wrote it. So, I’m just gonna go with what Julian said from The Arcana...It’s mystical malarkey! As in, no one has ever experienced that and don’t know how it happened, so there isn’t exactly an “explanation”. It’s just kinda bs XD. Anyways enjoy! Plus, there is some information at the bottom.

Zosk and Sarah had gotten really close. He had wished he was alive once more. She was 14 and strong. She was in 8th grade and dealt with all of her anxieties. She would talk to him about them in her dreams, even if she didn’t remember what he told her when she awoke. She was happy to be with him as he was with her. He didn’t know why he suddenly felt like this. Why did he get close to her? He never got close to any other person he visited. To be fair, he hasn’t visited many people. He couldn’t remember what happened after he died, but he just awoke one day and knew he had to pass on his power. He visited around 8 people? He always stopped when they were 25 or sometimes even younger. So, he knew his time was limited. He had been like this for 200 years, so he may have found his person. Or maybe not. He would have to wait and see.

“What happened today?” She jumped up and down. They were standing in a forest area once again. They were at the same bridge she was at when she was 8. He would bring her here sometimes, to see the fish and calm her down, or just talk to her about magic. “I went to school and I met a boy!” Zosk immediately laughed. Was he going to have boy talk with Sarah? That made him uncomfortable, but he would wait and see if it came to that. He hoped it wouldn’t. He isn’t good with emotions since he rarely feels them. He only feels them with he was with Melody and Sarah. That was it. It was weird, but that’s how he felt. “Hmm, and what happened with this boy?” She blushed and curled some hair around her ear. She did that from time to time when she was nervous or shy. “Nothing really, we just talked and stuff.” Zosk smirked at her. “You feel feelings already?”

Sarah laughed. “I don’t know yet, but I do like to be around him, and my heart does race when I’m around him.” She looked at him with a confused look. “What is that feeling?” He sighed and thought for a few moments. It could only be love. “Love. But, you better ask your mom. She’s better at feelings than I am.” She nodded and hugged him. “Thanks for doing this.” He hugged her back but looked down at her. “Doing what?” “Talking to me and being with me. I wish I could see you in real life. It would be a lot easier. I wouldn’t even have to forget you!” He got a bit sad at that. She would have to forget him. He couldn’t let her know about all he was yet, and all about magic. Her mother wanted to keep it away from her, so he would listen to Melody. He may have been an empire ruler, but he was a nice man. He sighed and ruffled her hair. He couldn’t tell her the truth just yet. “Yeah, I guess you wouldn’t.”

She pulled back from the hug and they both began to walk back to the beginning of the forest, still holding hands. It was something that never changed. They always held hands. Well, not always, but he held her hand for her comfort, but he couldn’t deny that it was also for his comfort. It just kept him grounded and at peace. He wished he could really be with her. Not just to make his decision, but to spend time with her. He’s been dead for so long, and with no one to be with him, it began to become lonely. He didn’t know what he would do when he had to leave her. He shook his head. It wasn’t the time to think of that. For now, he just needed to enjoy the moments he did have with her.

A few months had passed and Sarah kept asking about magic. She always seemed to want an example or a tale of Zosks. It wasn’t that weird since she did ask from time to time, but it was more persistent recently. He just took it as her growing up and wanting to know about magic. She was a very curious kid, just like her mother, so it made sense. However, it just seemed...out of nowhere.

Sarah was in her room, sitting on the bed, crisscrossed, and Zosk was sitting in front of her doing the same position. “Why do you want to know so much about magic?” He asked her. She looked away and began to curl some hair around her ear, uncurl it, and repeat the process. “Sarah?” Zosk said, with a serious tone. She looked at him and sighed. “It’s because you want to offer me your power, and I don’t even know what it does. I’m worried that I might mess up, or I might do something horrible because of it,” she said, her voice getting softer after every word. She looked back down at her lap. “I feel kinda scared. It’s why I want to know more about it so I don’t mess up what you might give me.” He looked at her and could hear the vulnerability in her voice. She was scared. Really scared. She’s kept it down for so long and dealt with it, but now has gotten it out. It made his heart ache that he put this much pressure on her and anxiety. But he couldn’t help it. This much power would cause anyone to have anxiety and worries. However, he did feel a slight relief. He was a bit happy that she didn’t remember everything when she woke up. Happy that she didn’t have this burden on her 24/7. Now that would put him in pain.

He got closer to her and pulled her into his lap. He now felt like a father helping his daughter. “Well, if you decide when you’re older, then I’ll help you. I’ll teach you about it, I’ll tell your family, I’ll help you through it. You won’t have to do it alone. I promise,” he said to her, and he meant it. She was scared and he hated it. He wanted to help her and protect her and he would do so as long as she’d let him. Sarah felt tired and her head fell onto his chest, her eyes closed, and her breathing relaxed. He knew it was almost time for her to get up, so he put her back to sleep. “I wish I had the power to bring you to life once more,” she whispered to him. He felt like crying. She was too pure and innocent, and she was wishing for the impossible. He can’t bring himself back to life, and no one else could either. He had been dead for too long and didn’t have a body. He felt his shirt get wet and looked down and realized Sarah was crying.

However, something was different.

Her tears...were bright yellow. Like a sun drop. He’s seen her cry before, and they didn’t look like that, but now they did. It was weird and he didn’t understand. He’s never heard of that happening before. He looked back down and saw more tears of yellow colored falling onto his shirt. They seemed to dissolve and he saw his skin start to turn back to a color. It wasn’t shadowy anymore, it was turning back to regular skin. He looked at his shoulders and noticed his hair coming back to a color as well. It was blue and just past his shoulders a bit. His clothes seemed to come into color as well. His long robe coming back into his view. However, it all seemed so big to him. As if it didn’t fit him. He looked down at his body and realized...he was a child. Well, he had a teenager sized body. He stared at his body in shock and horror.

“What the hell, what the hell, what the HELL.” He said. His body was back completely, and he noticed Sarah wasn’t crying anymore. Did her tears do this? She was just a human, so it didn’t make sense to him. He shook his head and knew he had to go somewhere else. To Melody. He watched over her and knew she wanted to see him again. “I guess this is as good as ever to see her.” He put Sarah back under her covers and he closed his eyes and ended the dream. His body was back, so he felt the cold air of the room when he entered Melody’s room. Melody woke up and looked at him. She didn’t have a choice to not wake up, since whenever he enters someone’s dream, he wakes them up instantly. “Who are you?” She looked at him with a look of confusion.

She got up and walked over to him. She poked his arm and didn’t feel a shadow. She felt an actual arm. She looked at him with confusion. Before she could say anything, Zosk spoke. “It is Zosk, but your daughter, Sarah, did this. I’ve been with her for a long time. I never told you because I thought you would get mad but now Sarah has done the impossible and I didn’t know who else to come too.” He was rambling. Melody looked at him with so much confusion. She wasn’t really angry at him. He didn’t really have any control over who he discovered. It just happened by chance. She nodded but stared at him. He was a teenager. A literal fucking teenager. She didn’t know how Sarah was able to turn him young again, but she did it.

She started to pace as she thought. She didn’t know how this was possible either. Sarah was a human, while her siblings were all magicians. She assumed that this was caused by light magic, but she didnt have any! It didn’t make sense. Maybe she really did have magic? Melody didn’t know. She just sighed and looked back at him. “Let’s just say, it was a miracle. I can’t think of an answer, and if you’ve never heard of it, then it’s most likely never happened before.” He nodded and looked concerned. “What am I going to do?” Melody suddenly got an idea and smiled. “Well, we first have to tell my husband, then we get you a makeover. These clothes don’t fit you anymore.” Melody giggled into her hand. Zosk seemed irritated but he was excited about a makeover. He didn’t want to admit it, but he didn’t really want these clothes anymore.

He was an empire ruler in the past and didn’t want reminders of it. He looked at her and nodded. “Tell your husband when he wakes up?” Melody looked at him. “How? You only enter in dreams.” Zosk shook his head. “I’m real now. I’ll have to come back in this body. So, when you wake up, I think I’ll be there.” Melody looked at him for a minute. She had to make sure she woke up before Gabriel. She didn’t want Zosk to get hurt because her husband didn’t understand why a random teenager was in her house. She didn’t even know if he’d believe her about all of this. She shrugged and just went with the plan. She hoped it would work.

She woke up around 7 am and looked in the corner of her room. She saw Zosk, sitting on the floor, sleeping. He had a peaceful look on his face. “I bet he had girls swooning when he was younger,” Melody said with a little laugh. She looked over and saw Gabriel, still fast asleep. She didn’t want to wake him up, but knew she had to. But first, she had to get the kids up for school and then do the talk. She got up and got the kids up and did everything for them. “I love you!” She said as she kissed them all on the forehead before they ran outside to the bus. She sighed. It was very difficult waking them up in the morning, but she still dealt with it. She basically ran back into her room and let out a sigh of relief as she saw both Gabriel and Zosk sleeping. She walked over to Gabriel and gently shaked him. “It’s time to get up, baby.” He groaned and looked up at her. “Why do I need to get up? We’re both off today, why not join me in bed,” he said with a suggestive tone. She laughed but knew this had to happen. “No, I need to talk now, please?” She gave him the same puppy eyes she did when they first met. She always pulled them out in case of an emergency.

He sighed and sat up and rubbed his eyes. Melody walked over to Zosk and woke him up too. “Hmm?” Zosk said to her. He opened his eyes and noticed her in front of him. For the first time in a long time, he felt sleepy and wanted to continue sleeping. However, he quickly realized the situation. He saw Gabriel looking at him with a shocked face. “I know you’re shocked but we have to talk about something. You’ll probably think I’m insane after I say it.” Gabriel looked at her, then at Zosk, then back at her. “Who is this kid?” “That’s what we have to talk about, and he technically isn’t a kid.” Melody walked over to Gabriel and sat in front of him, grabbing his hands to hold them. “You know about Zosk right? The powerful black magic magician? You told me about him a long time ago,” she told him, rubbing her thumb on his knuckles. He nodded and looked back at Zosk as he got up and walked a little bit closer to the bed. “Well...this is him,” she said. He tried to speak, but was cut off by Melody panicking. “Yes, I know I seem crazy, but you have to believe me. Also, you need to believe me when I say that Sarah did this. She brought him back to life, but as a teenager.” Gabriel just stared at her. He saw her honest expression and tried to believe her, but it was so hard too.

“Are you sure you didn’t hit your head?” “She’s not lying, I promise,” Zosk said. Gabriel looked at him and seemed irritated. He did sense a power coming from him, so it’s obvious he wasn’t a human. But being Zosk the Unconquerable?? It seemed impossible. Plus, how was he supposed to believe that Sarah did this? She was human and that was that! “Are you sure you didn’t do anything to my wife?” “No! He’s been with me since I was young, and now he’s moved on to Sarah. He needs someone to pass his power on to and he went to me when I was young. I said no and that I didn’t want it. So, he must’ve went down the line and just chose Sarah.”

Melody and Zosk spent the next hour talking about their pasts and explaining it to Gabriel. Gabriel just sat there, taking it in, with a few questions sometimes. He didn’t understand it, but he knew she wasn’t lying. Melody never lied to him and he had to believe her. Plus, Gabriel asked questions that almost no one knew the answer to, and he knew that only Zosk would know the answer. He answered them all correctly and just had to believe them. “So, you’re back again? And you’re stuck here with us?” Zosk nodded. Melody smiled at Gabriel and kissed him on the forehead. “Thanks for believing me and taking this better than I thought. I wanted to tell you when we got married, but I didn’t want to seem insane. Plus, he went away for some time and I didn’t know he was with Sarah, so I assumed I didn’t need to tell you.” Gabriel looked at her as she rambled on and kissed her forehead. “It’s fine. I’m just glad I know now. Especially since it involves our child.” “Well, we were close in her dreams, is it possible that we will still be close? Even if she doesn’t know me?” Melody and Gabriel both looked at him. “Only one way to find out.”

Sarah came home around 3:15 PM. Christopher came as well, but Alexandra and Jacob had to stay because they had a club meeting. Sarah and Christopher were too young to be in a club just yet. They were at the end of the year for 8th grade, so next year they would be able to join a club. However, that didn’t matter. Sarah and Christopher came into the house and saw Gabriel and Melody still talking to Zosk. Sarah looked at him and got excited. She loved to meet new people, even if she was very shy. Christopher looked at him and just looked confused. Why was there a random person in their house? Melody looked over at them.

“Guys, this is Zed. He just moved here. I think you’re gonna make great friends.” Sarah walked over to him and held out her hand. “It’s nice to meet you!” Zosk looked at her and smiled. He shook her hand. “It’s nice to meet you too, Sarah.” His wish came true. He was alive and able to be with her. Hopefully he will be able to protect her like he promised.

Yes. Zosks new name is now Zed because I believe that he would just call himself that to Sarah instead of Zosk. Also, I didn’t say it in the writing I think but

Zosk doesn’t get to choose who he goes to. He just wakes up in their dreams. Fate chooses it.

NO Zosk does not feel romantic feelings towards her. I keep thinking that people will see it like that, but I don’t mean it to come off like that. I just want to show that he wants to be close with her and protect her. Like a best friend bond sort of. It’s creepy to imagine them together. A 200 year old magician in love with a 14 year old girl? That’s called pedophilia and disgusting so no.

Also, when they do get older, they both gag at the image of them together. It’s just a fact I decided throw in here to.

Yes. Next chapter there is gonna be more sibling love! All of the siblings are gonna be shown more and stuff. They weren’t shown much in these chapters because I was just explaining the beginning of Zosk and Sarah and how Zosk (or Zed whatever fnwb) is involved in this. Plus, idc what canon is, I imagine Zosk as an actually nice guy. Very kind XD.

I don’t mean Zosk to come off as weird or creepy. He is bound to people when they’re young to see how they will grow and change and handle situations. It wasn’t really his choice. It’s just what happens. He just needs to see who is actually worthy of his power and what they would do with it. It’s just the only thing I could think of. I mean, being bound to someone when they’re like 25 and already grown and stuff wouldn’t exactly benefit him. I just fjsjsj. I just needed for him to somehow be close to her as a child so this was the way I could think of. Plus, it was just my original idea, but I didn’t mean for him to come off as creepy or anything.

Anyway, I’m sorry if this was bad. My writing is kinda bad in this part bc explaining this part of her backstory is kinda weird. It’s just hard to write so I hope this is good!

this is a real long post sorry normally i break these up and this time i didn’t

and finally, off we go to a new province

this time im making its tower my first stop, since i can see it from here

i tried to paraglide across the river but i didn't have enough height so i landed on the cliffside and ITS RAINING!!!!! for fucks sake

i cant believe this game actually got me to hate rain..........

not only that but when i died in the water it didn't reload me back to where i started to glide from but a bit of cliff i stood on lol so #struggles right from the first minute

rain for the next 3 hours.......and i gotta climb it in the rain....jesus

i guess i could fast travel but i'd have to walk all the way back there :/

hmm. maybe the gae's throwing me the rain on purpose. an npc mentioned this river was notoriously difficult to cross :///

yep as soon as i turned away: it cleared. Great

well i see some bridge-like things further downstream i guess i'll check that out

lol jk i managed to glide across a different part and climb

like i saw my forecast change but then it changed back to sun so w/e i'll take it im up here now

no matter what happens, no matter how sad the ending - i mean hell, in this very game, link and zelda LOST

no matter what though, it's guaranteed that they'll see each other again

over and over and over without end, link and zelda are gonna meet and be together for awhile while they defend hyrule again

and frankly i'm perpetually offended that they don't develop ganondorf the man more like they did in wind waker...that was the Peak tbqh

i love how present the current here is, like with the stuff floating down the river, thats a NICE touch

like i can see the spirit of the princess/goddess being high key miserable about those circumstances but i wonder if the spirit of the hero is maybe secretly glad

because part of him will always yearn for the next adventure

he never COULD be happy settling because this is what he was born for

WE love doing this again and again and again, maybe it's not such a stretch to think the spirit of the hero does too

or maybe i'm projecting so hard onto him because undertale has so successfully blurred the line between the player and the game for me LMAO
