One thing I kept expecting to see towards the end of OUATIW and was disappointed when I didn't was Cyrus and his brothers recognizing and struggling with the fact that their mother turned evil while they were cursed.

One example of how I expected this to be incorporated off the top of my head, when Amara killed like 20 enemy soldiers at once with their own blades. That's not weird at all for Cyrus to witness?

Honestly I still haven't decided if I like the reveal that Amara was Jafar's mentor and Cyrus' mother. Something that made me uncomfortable when we just knew the first part was her taking in Jafar as a child and then having a romantic/sexual relationship with him when he became an adult. We could've cut that, have their relationship strictly sorceress/apprentice, and there can be much more interesting angst about maybe Jafar feeling disconnected from another parental figure because she's so focused on getting her other sons back, maybe Amara has angst about him being a replacement, a constant reminder of what she lost or something.

I love evil women, but my problem with Amara is that her character arc feels incomplete, rushed, disconnected, and forced. I know, after the reunion, the characters had a lot of stuff to do to defeat Jafar before the finale, but surely something could've been changed to fix this. Every decision with what to with Amara feels lazy.

I think Amara's character could've been more interesting and more actualized, Cyrus does the heavy lifting in getting me to sort of like her.

Which shouldn't be the case, she's an evil sorceress! Who is motivated by the love of her children and joins the good guys for them! Who loves snakes!
