I'm not sure if this is weird, but when I watch a piece of media, I tend not to go in judging who is "the bad guy" or "the good guy". I usually just sit there and soak in the human experience of being that character.

which is why when I see people shoving barrels of unadulterated hate to characters and calling them nasty things, I kind of get, idk protective of those characters. Like i get that everyone consumes media differently, but a lot of times the character that attracts hate aren't really deserving of it. It's okay to recognise that a situation is unhealthy for all parties involved, but it doesn't feel okay to pin the blame of the entire situation on a single character. And like, looking at the situation from a bird's eye view is so much easier than actually living through it. We can certainly say that "x was such a cruel thing to do" but if it was the best option the character (who is usually in the midst of a very traumatizing experience/emotional breakdown) could see at that point in time... blaming them for it just doesn't feel right.

Im not tryna gatekeep anyone frm consuming things the way they want to, but just, if ppl could consume from a place of understanding and not judgement, the world would be a much more comfortable place.
