How would the scp crew react to their lover being flirted with by a co-worker? Specifically one who’s getting a little too handsy and won’t leave them alone -💗

~𝕾𝕮𝕻's Reacting To Their Darling Being Hit On~
Tumblr media
HI DARLING :D I decided to do 049, 035, and 079 because Mr. Computery Guy doesn't get enough love in this fandom!
~Enjoy~
Tumblr media
★★★★
𝕾𝕮𝕻 049
★★★★
~049 is very observant, so he will notice almost immediately.
~He won't really be jealous of the situation you're in, because he knows you're loyal to him.
~...Loyal to him. Something that's...classified as a dangerous monster. Kept in a facility. Who just sits there and researches things all day. Who cannot take you on dates. Who cannot buy you anything nice.
~...Yeah he's more insecure than he thought. But he won't admit that, or show it, of course, because he likes to keep himself and everything he does and thinks professional.
~Won't let his emotions get in the way. He looks at things how they are, not how they seem- so when he spots the grossed out or uncomfortable expression on your face while another Doctor is practically on you, and sees you trying to make an excuse to leave the room, he's relieved that you don't like the attention, and is disgusted with this man.
~Now that he knows you aren't into that and that you still love him, he isn't insecure anymore, and will stand up for you, instead.
~Next time they've decided to interview or test on him, 049 will slowly turn his head to look at the perverted person who had been touching you and flirting with you for a long time.
~"Your actions towards your fellow colleagues are unprofessional."
~"Fellow colleagues" meaning you, without directly mentioning you.
~So basically he just calls him out LOL. 049 won't be able to stop the situation all together, so he's trying to set it up for you to stand up for yourself so this doesn't happen anymore.
~"Do not touch what belongs to me."
~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
★★★★
𝕾𝕮𝕻 035
★★★★
~IS NOT HAVING IT
~IS ABSOLUTELY NOT HAVING IT
~This man will start crying so dramatically to get everyone's attention and when he has it he'll warn whoever tf is touching you to knock it off
~If that dude doesn't stop he's gonna end up dead
~Like. 035 is wondering how on Earth such a fool got the job to work here. He shouldn't even have to worry about this, because this pervert should just be automatically fired when spotted trying to flirt and get handsy.
~But now he's gonna have to do the job instead and get rid of him because he's being unprofessional and touching his beloved.
~Will end up messing with the doctor physiologically to probably get him to commit suicide or to simply just scare the crap out of him.
~And he's so proud of himself thinking he saved the day 🤡
~Then 035 asks when the paycheck comes in for doing his job
~Yeah he's got it covered dw.
~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
★★★★
𝕾𝕮𝕻 079
★★★★
~He is so salty. Like wow he's a total ass.
~When he first is able to spot the situation and he hears the person being gross with you,
~079 straight up just said "Shut up."
Tumblr media
~Can't do much other than roast the person and be really rude and salty with him.
~Asks you why you haven't stood up for yourself yet. And if you have done it already you clearly didn't get the point across because it's still happening.
~Is just as annoyed at you as he is with the pervert for letting this go on. Like do something about it what are you doing don't let him get away with that.
~Has tried hacking into the system to cause a breach so hopefully someone kills him.
~But then realized that would effect you, too.
~So he's out of ideas.
~But he's never out of insults and rude words.
~So 079 can keep making offensive comments. If he can't do anything to stop it, he can at least be a jerk to the guy.

THIS WAS FUN THANK YOUUU I LOVED WRITING THIS LOL

I went through all of your metas especially about the righteous gang, anti Zoya and Jesus I love you. I agree with almost everything you say except that I think Aleksander has gone a bit insane now lol. I don't fault him for it and find it fun but yeah anyways.
What do you think of how he treated Elizaveta and how she treated him?
Thank you, I just hope all those nice anons I've got so far are not only the one person. :D
Aleksander in R&R is a broken man, especially towards the end. That's why Alina kills him so easily in the end. He got used to weathering loss and betrayal, but he quicky grows tired of Alina's defiance, then he watches his mother commit performative suicide, only to witness his long-awaited equal being butchered by his granfather's legacy. He only wanted some snuggles, instead he got even more struggles. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I know there are people, who liked Elizaveta, or at least her potential, but for me her creepy obsession vibe was too strong. Two days after I've received this ask I've read a good summary of Aleksander's feelings about her, and honestly- I totally agree with him. She's fucking annoying and I'll never cease to admire his self-restraint for not murdering her for it.

Worth the Candle, end of 228.
so. I understand it now. this is Baru Cormorant: When They Cry.
i thought this story was going to be stupid fun, in a kind of well-above-average litrpg way - I was (kinda still am) very depressed and the other books I was reading were too heavy. instead, it surprised me be being good, like actually good: a genuinely thoughtful, well structured and even insightful story. this is not something that I ever expected to write about a litrpg isekai webserial, and certainly not a 'ratfic'.
it does, admittedly, take a while to come into its own. what 'its own' turns out to be is, as one commentator deemed it, 'competence porn for therapy'.
at first i thought it was about grief, then i recalibrated to a really scathing self-crit, as the story worked to absolutely dismantle self insert protagonist Juniper interpersonally and ideologically. now, 25 chapters from the end (which is still like an entire novel lol) it seems to be... complex metafiction about learning to work through shit and understand yourself and other people? woven of course in between exploring a variety of off-the-wall magic systems and settings, with an analytic eye to how and why they're made.
it's safe to say it blows Yudkowsky out of the fucking water. if more ratfic is like this, i might have to get into the genre.
it can be quite... dry isn't the right word, but there's a lot of chapters of people having penetrating conversations about their motivations and feelings, or coming up with plans, or the nature of the story they're inhabiting. which isn't to say it can't hit the feelings or evoke a mood... especially if that mood is an oppressive one, but there's plenty of genuine humour. it's often kind of horny but in a really analytic way, where it's about breaking down hangups around sex that largely happens off camera, and sexuality is just part of what comes under the scope. in some ways it feels... anthropological, in the sense of autoethnography - which I suppose is what it is, given how much Wales seems to be putting his own experiences into it, though of course I'm not sure exactly the line between what is directly roman à clef for his own life and what is there for a rhetorical point. some of the constructions and parallels feel too neat to be exactly real, but that doesn't say a lot, bc if you're fictionalising something you'd neaten it up.
it steers determinedly towards just about all the thorniest topics you can think of: grief, depression, suicide, rape (of its protagonist), genocide, eugenics. astonishingly, given its peers, it handles them with - for the most part, I'm not really sure about where they're going with the Tuung - a lot of grace.
it can be a bit cheeky with the metafiction occasionally but generally uses it purposefully, in the same way that a When They Cry VN teaches you how to read it. (promise I'll get back to that). in general it commits to the bit, hard. a brief arc riffs on the one page rpg Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf, in a way that sounds like it would be way too stupid, and yet it somehow makes it work by playing it serious.
it's a curious story to read because you have to take everything on at least four levels: what it means on the base level, how it fits in to the story that is being constructed with the diegetic DM character (the 'narrative' that the characters are aware of), how it reflects back on the inciting incidents on Joon's D&D games and grief spiral on Earth, and the purpose it's being put towards by Wales in the webnovel. (we can go further and take after Eco in distinguishing the author suggested by the text from the actual person Alexander Wales, but that's more @baeddel 's department.)
and now I've finally reached the Fel Seed Incident. cw rape. also spoilers.
the Fel Seed Incident is foreshadowed from early in the story, as the most heinous thing that Joon did while misanthropically turning on everyone after the death of his best friend Arthur. it's pretty much exactly what I thought, given the foreshadowing: Joon created a cheap grimdark body horror scenario to vent his feelings, that scenario centred on a sadistic rapist villain, a new player who Joon held in contempt joined the group, who was a rape survivor, and Joon steamrolled through several attempts to get him to back down, drove her away, flipped his lid and drove her boyfriend away, and made the session miserable for everyone by making Fel Seed invincible. most of this was pretty much spelled out already, but not the rape part.
this is the keystone of the whole story, and the reason it's delivered so late is because basically everything leading up to this point is telling us how to interpret this scene. particularly the arc where Joon gets raped by his sentient house, who then goes away for a long time to be taught a sense of ethics by the girl who eats demons to get therapy insight (I say, very matter of factly). Joon was pathetic and shitty, but it wasn't some grand act of sadism, just a tawdry story of lashing out at someone in the wrong place who he considered an annoyance beneath his notice - a recurring theme we've come to see throughout the rest of the story. it's presented very levelly. we've seen Bethel's efforts to change, we've seen Joon understandably not wanting to have anything to do with her, studiously examined that situation from each side. it all makes depressing sense, just as the scenes of abuse in Umineko do: this is how people act in these circumstances. 'well observed' you say.
yet it's not just going there to rub our faces in how much our protagonist sucks. because the whole point is to take it seriously, not wallow in self loathing. Grak doesn't kill himself and commits to living, Bethel and Valencia take the time to work at learning from their enormous mistakes. beating up on yourself is a sort of perverse defence mechanism. if you suck irredeemably you don't have to try.
the Fel Seed Incident is thus essentially a synecdoche (drink) of Joon's spiral and of the themes it's driving at, and thus a fitting capstone battle. it's almost annoyingly well put together.
but it's also rather self aware about this. Joon has by this point figured out that he's supposed to learn things from his adventures. the protagonists try to figure out what sort of narrative they're in and talk about postmodernism. so it's probably going to be about more than that.
self-improvement is the whole selling point of the rationalist ideology: the idea that if you follow Yudkowsky's teachings you can learn to put things in a mathematical perspective that will helpfully set you straight on matters from epistemology (Bayesianism solves everything) to ethics (utilitarianism is the answer, but you need to take into account a bunch of weird edge cases) to niche causes like cryonics and AI research. in fact, it's simply a cult. with all the shit that comes with, which means yes, rape and dead bodies.
many ideas in the story draw from the rationalist milieu. Joon's plan to 'win forever', usurp the DM and create a heaven that solves suffering, is of course an oblique spin the friendly AI singularity that Yudkowsky hopes to build. the soul magic arc, with its ideas of fiddling with motivations, is also about this. it seeps in in other ways, e.g. the idea raised now and then about keeping promises so other agents will trust you to keep promises is one of the founding elements of Roko's Basilisk. other elements, like the Second Empire, seem like an extrapolation of a society run by rat ideals.
I do not like the 'd' word. reading Eva and Madoka as 'genre deconstructions' obscures much more than it reveals (and also has very little to do with whatever Derrida was getting at). but it is honestly surprising to me that this is a celebrated ratfic reads like a splendid dismantling of rationalism.
the rape angle is relevant here. Yudkowsky's story Three Worlds Collide, a story about metaethics, rather infamously presents a future human society where rape is ubiquitous and considered a mild annoyance. it's like defamiliarising or whatever - don't you see, it's just our cultural assumptions! - and if you think it is going to do anything interesting, of course not, it's just Richard Stallman levels of pigheaded edgy obliviousness.
by contrast, the arc where Bethel rapes Joon... well, it feels almost like it's running down a checklist of how to write a realistic rape. Joon is raped by someone he knows well, he clearly says no, but when this is ignored, goes along with it in part because he's hyperconscious of the possibility of sudden violence; he knows something is up but blames himself because he was physically aroused and thinks it's just arbitrary cultural hangups and because he's a guy; he is reluctant to talk about it with his friends because he doesn't want his rapist to just be killed and she's important to their organisation. his attacker is a rape survivor herself in a complicated way, and she has spun a story where she was in the right that has to be very carefully unpicked by someone close to her and then she must take time to work through and change the whole way she relates to people, and there's some uncertainty in the others whether she's actually changed or just putting up a show of it. you could basically say it's cribbed from a "transformative justice" case study, but without the buzzwords.
and like, in a metafictional story like this one, situated in a milieu founded by Yudkowsky, that seems kind of like a statement. 'pay attention class, here's how to write a rape'. that might be uncharitable - i haven't seen how other rationalist writers handle it. (you can write a web novel without rape? ha, as if.)
Amaryllis in particular is the epitome of an idealised rationalist, effective altruist model. she's not emotionless, but manages her emotions clinically, according to scientific principles. she obsessively prioritises utilitarianism over her own feelings about a situation ('purchase fuzzies and utilons separately' is how it went i think?) and relentlessly builds power in order to remake the world according to her vision. she's hypercompetent as an administrator and has bizarrely mechanical ways of dealing with her own feelings. and it generally pays off and doesn't blow up in her face! (analogy: she's kind of who Baru Cormorant thinks she is, especially at the outset when she's most indoctrinated by Farrier.)
all of this seems to be very deliberate, given how Joon and the other characters react to her, but I'm scratching my head about the endgame here. I suppose, if each companion reflects some quality of Joon, we read Amaryllis and the slow burn romance as some kind of spin on gradually being enticed by the ideal of lesswrongism itself? but this story puts such an emphasis on self-understanding that there is no way it would uncritically present Amaryllis as an ideal. and with the Tuung essentially being put through what is painted as a hyperaccelerated residential school system that's been flagged up as an impending conflict a few times, and this story consistently choosing to steer into conflict rather than take an easy out to the point that the characters notice, it has to be going somewhere with this.
I'm honestly not sure how it's going to end, at this point. obviously Joon will find Arthur and confront the Dungeon Master, maybe he'll get to immanentise his personal eschaton. it would be too cheap for him to just go back to Earth with a bunch of lessons learned, especially with the IC meta discussions signaling hard against that. but it's the kind of excited expectant wait where I think I'll be surprised.
obviously I'm hooked. it's a kind of story it's very hard to share with anyone because it's 1.65 million words long, drawing from two milieus (D&D and LessWrong) that are very familiar to me but not necessarily anyone else I know, the premise on the face of it is kind of a hard sell, and as we've just discussed it kinda goes relentlessly for the hard stuff. all in all it's a Brynbait story. if you're tempted by what's above, I'd give it a shot.
aaand damn I guess I prematurely reviewed. I wasn't going to write until I'd finished the book, but I guess I'm writing now! I'll probably see the end after sleeping so expect a followup then.
also. he really did fuck the goddamn deer (tf was involved). and it wasn't a joke but meant something. fascinating thing, this book.

tricksterrune replied to your text post: Clearly he has a pair of dice in his fist, ready to fling them dramatically at the right opportunity
Oh yes, clearly!
aukisstic replied to your ask post: THANK YOU I hate the pride special so much…
Yeah, I just did not think that story was good at all.
demonbirdsforever replied to your ask post: See this is where I go… they were in other comics!? I missed those!🥺
The Rogues are in tons of issues (cumulatively), but not all those stories are great :>
it-is-i-zim replied to your ask post: Not to be weird or anything but rn I actually feel like for Captain Boomerang, Knight Terrors Robin #1 or Suicide Squad Blaze as a whole are the worse than Suicide Squad v4
You're not being weird at all, but neither of those are canon. If I'd included non-canon stuff the list would have been really different lol, but in hindsight I should have made that clear.
it-is-i-zim replied to your ask post: Cuz Suicide Squad Blaze treated him like he was nothing more than a joke (and called him Captain Cultural Appropriation, which if we take Suicide Squad v4 #26 into account, where his mother is aboriginal, it feels like the writers just don’t know him), killed him off revealed that he was actually assaulted by whatever monster he was fighting and then killed him off for real.
Believe me, I agree that story was terrible :] It just didn't make the list because thankfully it's an AU.
it-is-i-zim replied to your ask post: And then in Knight Terrors: Robin #1 like… I understand it’s supposed to be from Tim Drake’s perspective, but it really paints Captain Boomerang in a really bad light. Like he killed Jack Drake on purpose. When he didn’t even throw the boomerang until he was collapsing from 3 gunshot wounds to the chest.
Well, Digger did go there to kill Jack, but Identity Crisis was a terrible story anyway. I should have included it in my worst Digger stories list, and am not sure how I forgot. I'll add it with a note that it's a late addition.
it-is-i-zim replied to your ask post: Like… The beginning of Suicide Squad v4, yeah, I agree, they fucked over Digger big time, but at least it got better at the end, despite issue #26 also calling him Owen instead.
It's of course a very subjective matter (all best/worst lists are), but I just thought those comics were straight up edgy and terrible. I've never liked any Adam Glass or Ales Kot comics.
it-is-i-zim replied to your ask post: Suicide Squad v1 was also Not Great™ as a whole due to the use of slurs for aboriginal people within it. Issue 4 was the worst of those where on top of using a slur for an aboriginal person to a black man, he also said black people can’t be artists and tried agree with a Nazi and made the super racist statement that minorities commit the most petty crimes.
This is also subjective, and I get where you're coming from but I don't think they're bad comics. It's fine if you don't like it -- a lot of people don't like what was done with Digger in that series, and that's valid -- but I think it's a good series. It hasn't always aged well, but it's the reason the Suicide Squad concept exists to this day. The racism is tough to read, but Ostrander was making a point about the garbage Waller, Bronze Tiger, and Vixen have to fight through to do their jobs and just exist as Black people. It does suck for Rogue fans that Digger was chosen to be the problematic mouthpiece, though, so I understand why some people don't like it. I agree it was a very drastic swing from his pre-Crisis characterization, so I don't love that aspect either.
it-is-i-zim replied to your ask post: Sorry, I have many thoughts on the true worst Captain Boomerang comic.
That's fine! :)
it-is-i-zim replied to your ask post: Also for Owen I’d argue for the Supergirl v5 comics. Cuz apparently that version of Supergirl that he’s not only rooming with, but is also trying to get with is 16. And he’s like… Literally an adult man. He literally called that version of Supergirl “jailbait” in one of the better comics of the bunch.
Yeah, I have mixed feelings on that series. It wasn't good, but unfortunately I think a lot of Owen's stories weren't great so to me it doesn't necessarily stand out. He's a good character who's been in a lot of mediocre stories…in part because a lot of DC's output was mediocre around that time.
demonbirdsforever replied to your text post: I read the Catwoman issues you recommended and now understand the kiss.
Hope you enjoyed it!

Pawpaw and ginkgo!
Pawpaw — how do you name your characters?
I tend to do this last. Usually it’s design -> story -> name. When I DO, it’s usually by going through old records and looking up families in certain regions, religious and cultural meanings, common vs uncommon and how that works for the character and then hodgepodging it all together. However, sometimes, as with Icarus in a more ridiculous fantasy setting, it was supposed to be Ichorous Smokes but the little red autocorrect line frustrated me and so this spelling stuck. Sometimes I see a funky name on a headstone and go “Hey, that sounds like a neat name for a character”
Ginkgo — what part of your story is the oldest, has stuck around from that original idea?
Oh BOY. A while ago over lockdown I wrote a novel (the last third had its files corrupted and it’s half-lost) about my Original Original OC. He has all the elements a lot of my characters do now. His name was Colm Tredwen, a navy lieutenant from a small Cornish mining town, who was involved in a mutiny and became a smuggler. His little brother is hunting him down while he’s basically on a suicide mission (receive a fair trial for the crimes he did commit, where he knows he’ll be executed but so long as it’s fair this time, he doesn’t care). I need to stress I came up with Tredwen when I was 11 years old and really wanted to be a sea captain, so there’s quite a bit of Silliness Taken Seriously. But the things that carried over to my new book are: Angry Bastard Wanting Justice and Going on a Big Adventure in Order To Achieve It, With The End Goal Being Death, Meeting a Sad Guy and a Delightful Young Person Along the Way And Lying About Their Intentions. Also Trans. At least for Icarus. Although there’s a lot of Tredwen’s story apparent in Fred’s character, even if he’s much more like the kidnapped surgeon character (also named Samuel!).
Although the idea for Icarus I’ve had for a while as well, about 7-8 years. Instead of a fantasy world it was supposed to be taking place in Chicago (I liked the way the city looked lol) and focused on a trans man made to undergo conversion therapy. But I decided to make it fantasy and change the tone which was far darker and had a very unsatisfactory ending

7, 10, 20? choose whichever fandom(s) you want to, i'm interested in everything you have to say 😘
Mandatory "By clicking below this link you acknowledge that you are consenting to listen to me be a bitch about €lisabeth das Musical at a very extended length" -- given we are dealing with €lisabeth we will be going into some dark, depressing subject matter.
7. what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them? Alright, so it's a mixture of fandom being fandom and the canon legitimately warping around itself here, but Rud0lf. Like, let's begin with Kunze (I am predominately blaming him for this because I hate him and, given his work on TdV, Lady Bess, Rebecca, and the OG production of Marie Antoinette I do think that he legitimately like. Hates women) dropping the usual "fuck the Hapsburgs" approach of the musical in order to prop Rud0lf up as The World's Most Fragile Little Meow Meow. Can you IMAGINE if €lisabeth, historically, had committed suicide alongside a 17 year old who'd idolized her? Can you IMAGINE if she'd said something like "men are only fit for reproduction"? (I mean, fandom would have probably girlbossified her for that at least, but...) Can you IMAGINE if she'd given Franz Josef gonorrhea which meant that the dynasty couldn't have more heirs? Can you IMAGINE if she'd bullied Helene to the point where Helene was afraid of her sister? (Rud0lf and Marie Valerie?) Can you IMAGINE if she'd had an encounter with a man that he described as "What torments, what horror!" (Oh, wait, given that €lisabeth's borderline marital rape on her wedding night was erased from the musical, we KNOW.) Can you IMAGINE if she had a string of lovers who she had a SYSTEM for dismissing, entering them robotically into a register with red ink for those whose virginity she'd taken, black for the rest, and then had a system employed for which going away present she'd give them -- silver for princely families with an engraved copy of his coat of arms, noble ladies were given one stamped, and the rest were just given one stamped with his name + archducal crown (so not worthy of the coat of arms)?
Tumblr media
Bitch. Bitch.
...and instead we have that seventeen year old being presented as the literal incarnation of Death while Stephanie, aka the Woman Who Had To Put Up With His Bullshit For Years After Marrying Him When She Was SIXTEEN And Then Who He Gave Gonorrhea To, Ruining Her Chances of Ever Conceiving Again, is just reduced to Rud0lf whining to his daddy about how HARD married life was. Bitch, you brought your mistress with you WHEN YOU GOT ENGAGED TO HER. SHE WAS *SIXTEEN*. How is what the musical did to Marie Vetsera any different than what the Hapsburgs did, presenting her as a seductive little vixen who deserved to be erased? People can say what they want about Rud0lf: Affaire Mayerling as a musical, and I'll probably AGREE with them, but at least Marie is THERE, and arguably the sparkly romantic love story is at least how *she'd* have wanted it to be remembered.
...and honestly, it goes into a central problem of €lisabeth, which is that it's willing to be deconstructive....but only with the female characters. Like, I see it praised a lot for its portrayal of women, but is the portrayal of women that GOOD, or is the bar just that LOW? Like, again, the musical goes to extremes to point out whenever €lisabeth so much as looked wrong at someone and does kind of reduce her eating disorder to "lol vanity", but it presents Marie as, again, the literal incarnation of Death, Helene is The Scorned Girl who is also Comic Relief and never mentioned again, Sophie is a bitch, Ludovica is The Ambitious Mother. Like? WHERE is the actual good depiction of female characters? And you can argue that it's because it's being told through the eyes of Luchen1, who's an anarchist, but....he's SUCH a good anarchist that we throw that away with Franz Josef, who can't even cheat on €lisabeth without it somehow being a woman's fault. The only time Franz appears negatively is with...oh wait, God's Own Woobie, Rud0lf, the minor-coded thirty year old man.
But the fandom. Good God, the FANDOM. If the musical woobifies him, the fandom is WORSE. I had to see, with my own poor eyes, someone whine about Marie being included in ONE PRODUCTION of the musical with "But my Tødolves :(" and then go on about how, you see, Marie DROVE him to it, it's HER fault at least partially, because even though she was a SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD in a relationship with a THIRTY YEAR OLD MAN with a wife and daughter who had gone to Mizzi Kaspar before her to die together (which people LOVE to bring up as a Lol He Never Cared About Marie, but never to bring up He Was Going To Do It Anyway -- If She Hadn't, Someone Else Would Have. The 25 year old wasn't willing to do it so he went with a 17 year old; a part of me doubts if he really loved either one of them and, honestly, whether that was even in the equation for him.) People LOVE to talk shit about €lisabeth, or about €lisabeth/D€r Tød, or about Boyfriend Death, but, hey, at least that side of the fandom *remembers that women exist.*
...and for what it's worth, a part of me does get it. Like, Rud0lf is presented as a traumatized man with clear mental health issues (especially, arguably, in the earlier productions, where I feel he's more clearly unbalanced) and mommy issues (which, again...Franz Josef had more power than €lisabeth, why don't we blame him more?) That is bound to strike a chord. But, as someone who has been suicidal since I was literally, like....9-10 years old and has been especially prone to suicidal ideation for the last two years (mandatory "I'm NOT going to do anything, I'm fine, I'm okay, I'm a stubborn shit and I know how to cope with it at this point")....there has never been a time in my life when I can say that I imagined taking someone else with me. There've been times I wanted to do it to Make a Point, to be like, idk, Ophelia or the Lady of Shalott or Deirdre where people would gather around me and Suddenly Realize That They Were Dicks (before realizing that that's (1) a rather empty victory; (2) Potentially not going to work given that they were dicks to me in life so why would death change that and (3) ...giving them more importance than they're worth); there've been times I've considered it as an escape (but...what kind of escape is it when you don't have anything else after this? Like, congrats, you're free, but you don't have anywhere to GO, and I'm not taking my chances on reincarnation); but there's never been a time when I considered taking someone else with me, especially not someone that much younger. I very scrupulously avoid using the term "child" to describe Marie (in the same way I don't call Cecile Volanges or Lydia Bennet one), because, by the standards of the time, she was an adult who was of marriageable age, even though she was STILL young, but there was an age and power imbalance between the two of them. And when I talk shit about Rud0lf, it isn't coming from a place of not knowing what it's like to be in that situation, it's from a place of knowing it all too well and being disgusted. I'm 25, so maybe something will happen in the next five years to make me change my mind and nod my head sadly and be like "I understand why you dragged that 17 year old into your bullshit", but...until that moment of clarity....fuck him. Fuck him and fuck the way that the, again, thirty year old man is consistently given compassion and woobification and borderline infantilization because Poor Baby.
10. worst part of fanon
...where to begin with €lisabeth?
Mainly, the Not Like Other Girls side of the fandom that goes out of its WAY to be like "I don't SHIP €lisabeth/Death, *I* understand the ~ message ~ of the musical" like congratulations I want them to have sex on every single corner of the Schönbrunn where she pegs him but you do you idk. €lisabeth's a musical that is thoroughly founded in the gothic tradition, it's about the Other as a site of fear, desire, fascination, and, ultimately, liberation, it's about society restricting you so much that you start looking at what you're told should repulse you in order to achieve some level of agency, it's about Nina Auerbach's quote about vampires as an escape from a life of high heels and girdles (which drives me feral every time I read it), it's about a mortal girl possibly making SUCH an impact on an immortal being that, regardless of whether or not she does actually *die* at the end, it doesn't really matter because he's changed forever, like that's her legacy. Like! This is the FOUNDATION of the genre, that interplay between fear, desire, and agency; there's a reason why the Gothic genre is overwhelmingly dominated by women and why it's important to many women and, in my case, people who are AFAB. I *hate* when people talk condescendingly about it.
And, let's be real -- the issue has not, and never has been, Death being depicted as a ROMANTIC figure, the issue with a lot of modern productions is that it assumes romance = aggression. Boyfriend Death is not the problem, the way that we as a society view sex and romance is and, frankly, I do not trust the Tod0lf shippers with it because imo their problem with how the musical's gone hasn't been that they actually give a shit about €lisabeth but rather that they're peeved that their chosen ship has been diminished which is HILARIOUS because Kunze has already said that he never saw it as a sexual/romantic thing anyway. People were fine with him being sexist for years but WHEN HE WAS AT LEAST MILDLY HOMOPHOBIC, that was where they drew the line. Like people have taken his comments on Sarah in TdV as canon for years when he talks about how she's just a stupid girl who will realize that she should be with Alfred for years and that Alfred is the REAL protagonist of the show, but oh NO, NOT THE SHIP.
Like, Hungarian Death is not an issue! He really isn't! Szil did not put his entire szlussy into the role for that disrespect. Takarazuka Death isn't an issue! Toho Death is not an issue! (Okay, some Toho Deaths are not an issue.) There is nothing wrong with those takes on the role, despite them tending to lean more romanticized; the issue is the idea that abuse = romance and that toxic masculinity = appealing and romantic.
Also the real reason they're pissed about Kein Kommen Ohne Geh'n is that, between it and having the superior version of Die Sc@tten Werden Langer, it means that €lisabeth truly DOES keep winning, while Tod0lf gets...three scenes, depending on the production, one of which Rud0lf is a child for. Really loving this deep exploration of the source material.
....also sometimes, not always, but sometimes, when people discuss international musical it tends to be the only one brought up, along with TdV, especially when discussing German language musicals which...it's a good musical, but *come on*; it's also Baby's First International Musical for most American fans, it's one of the most wildly successful international shows of all time, it isn't some small amateur production. I've literally gone to Celtic Studies conferences where I've mentioned it and at least one of the other grad students knew what I was talking about, that is not necessarily niche. Though that does kind of illustrate how American fans tend to think Broadway + The West End = Normal Musicals™ and then there are...those other musicals.....over There™.
*There are other good non-English musicals.*
*There are other good GERMAN LANGUAGE musicals.*
(I'm also going to point out, since this is the second time I've talked about a M/M relationship for this ask that like. I love M/M ships! I really do! Atm my AO3 stats are 33 M/M fics, 20 M/F fics, 12 F/F fics, and 12 Gen -- it is the MAJORITY of what I write, I swear I don't have a secret agenda regarding them, but there is often this...entitlement around them that I've noticed. Like, it's great to ship M/M and in some ways, even if you're AFAB, it can be a great way of exploring gender and sex, especially since it isn't always as immediately....present like writing F/F or M/F can be -- I get that. The issue is that there is often as assumption that the world SHOULD revolve around their ships that I dislike. People often love to toss out the word "fetishization" and I'm not really sure I agree it's that as opposed to, on occasion, not exclusively, fandom misogyny. Like, I also dislike the "write F/F ships even if you don't want to because it's Your Duty" rhetoric, but like. There has to be compromise between the two extremes, just like there has to be a compromise between writing M/F and being homophobic. Like, just....remembering....women.....exist.)
20. part of canon you found tedious or boring
If I said Rud0lf's scenes with the exception of Die Schatten Werden Langer (Reprise), would people decide that I hated him? It isn't my FAULT that his other song's like Ich Gehor Nur Mir but with everything that makes that song iconic taken out of it.
Um, well. That aside, there's....um. Let me think. I mean, the thing with €lisabeth is that, as critical as I can be of it, it IS meticulously plotted out. Like, it's a genuinely GOOD musical, and that's why it's been able to get away with murder for years, because it's a sacred cow. Even songs that I think are a little boring like Nichts Nichts Gar Nichts are important to the overall structure of things. The first act in particular has a lot of exposition where the music isn't really...as strong as the major numbers, but it doesn't have to be because it's doing the worldbuilding for us. I'm not particularly fond of Wir oder Sie especially since, again...like, come on. Sophie choosing Franz's mistress for him? Like the poor baby didn't have any say in the matter? But, again, it's useful towards....whatever the hell the show's conceit is re: Franz and S1si and Sophie.
But like, I can't emphasize enough how much my issues with the show AREN'T because the show is shoddily plotted and shoddily written. It is a good show! Imo, it's probably one of the single best structured shows I've seen, and that is saying a LOT -- Kunze had a Vision when he wrote it, my issue with it is that his vision is kind of shit.
Now, since I'm fairly certain people are absolutely going to think that I hate Actual Historical Figure Rud0lf, Crown Prince of Austria-Hungary, as possibly the only person in the fandom who would understand my pain, have my horrific confession on what I ACTUALLY think whenever I type his name out:
Tumblr media
"Do you want to die?" "No, I still need to finish my Grammar of Old Irish" "...same difference."

I'm back with another cat who deserves to go apeshit. It's Leafpool. It's like she was born just for StarClan and everyone to shit on her. Unless the Erins retconned it Sandstorm pressured Leafkit into becoming a med cat. Sure she did come to like it later but she had her own mother try to tell her to follow that path.
Then when she listened to StarClan and followed her heart she comes back to see her mentor dead by a badger. Then she is pregnant with Crow's kits when they split up and has to deliver them outside of the Clan and give them to Squirrel to raise as her own while she has to pretend to be the Aunt to them.
And StarClan for some ass reason got in their feelings about it and treated Leafpool like 'Wah how dare you break the code that the clan equivalent of a teenage mom in ye olde times created because she was stressed out and really shouldn't be a measurement of every medicine cat?'
And even though it was Leafpool who found the warrior version of Black Mecca, the pool she was named after and the thing that connects the world of the living to StarClan, no one acknowledges this at all and goes 'Holy Smokes, she is practically the next Moth Flight, you know that cat that found that sparkly blue stone in that cave before the two legs came and destroyed everything. Maybe we should at least give her deserved respect and that she can make mistakes like everyone else.'
Like Leafpool found the Lake version of the Moonstone to keep the Clans from running around like headless chickens and would have made the panic of having no Moonpool because it was frozen look like a cake walk because they wouldn't even have a Moonpool to have it be frozen.
Instead of saying 'Okay Leafpool, you did break the Code but since you helped the Clans not degrade into Godless Heathens, you can keep your role. It's not like you gave birth to Brokenstar 2.0 and helped save lives after all' nearly everyone treated her like she was a pariah or the next coming of Tigerstar.
Hell, when Leafpool died, that's when the Moonpool froze. It's like they were connected and when she passed, it too 'died.'
( Don't even get me started on that trial shenanigans, because I will rant until I hit a word limit LOL )
And while Holly, Lion, and Jay had every right to be mad at her but they didn't have to go out of their way to be that antagonistic since nearly every cat in the Clans both dead and alive already treated her like a yeast infection or you know, try to force her to commit suicide by the berries that did in Brokenstar.
I just kinda wish Leaf snapped back at Holly during that moment, even if it will be out of character.
'I know I gave up the right to me your mother and you every reason to be mad at me, but I will NOT have you use that tone against or say such things to kewhen you know how The Clans and our Ancestors view Kin Slaying in cold blood. Let alone killing a Medicine Cat. Firestar will be forced exile to you and when you die you will not grace the stars of Silverpelt.
And many cats broke the Code. Will you kill Crowfeather too? Technically Tawnypelt broke the Code when she went to ShadowClan and had half clan kits. Should she be slain by you as well? And Firestar was a kitty pet by birth. Should Sandstorm die for giving birth to half kitty pet cats?
If making me eat them truly will make you feel better, then do it. But my death will not be quick or pleasant. I only ask you as my final wish is that you look away as I choke to death, because I still love you, and I don't want you to see how a cat choking to death looks like.'
And Hollyleaf is so stunned she doesn't run off to the tunnels, but does come back to the Clan until a week to fully comprehend what happened.
Sorry if this came off as ranty but Leafpool deserves better.
Oooooooo this is Good Stuff! I’m not even going to write a lil story you already did Amazing! Go off Leafpool! Let Leafpool Be Angry! Let her R A G E! She was Wronged! I cannot express how good this is!

do u have an opinion on stoncy. im asking bc it seems like lots of people are into them but then hate jancy/stancy at the same time and i just dont understand that logic nor do i understand the stoncy appeal whatsover and would love to know your take lol
EEEEK first of all Love giving my opinion on everything and anything thank you for asking honestly i can't believe anyone wants my take i'm insane i love you. and i've noticed this too!!!! i find it pretty interesting that people do tend to be anti stancy/jancy but pro stoncy but honestly if i had 0 stakes in it i wouldn't mind it either tbh but i have ALL the stakes (phd in steve harrington minoring in nancy wheeler). i think stoncy like fundamentally has a logical next step kind of basis of trying to heal the "love triangle" rifts by bridging the gaps instead so to speak and on the surface and if i'm unbiased i suppose it would make sense? like if the tension between steve and nancy was jonathan then jonathan becoming their shared boyfriend would theoretically eliminate the problem.
BUT that is me being objective and i think at this stage in the game or whatever the line has shifted becaaauuse -> i BELIEVE stoncy was the first/oldest popular ship among the older teens (because they were victim to popping into existence in 2016 AKA the height of Every love triangle should just be a throuple/poly) but now we've had three additional seasons of character building and arcs and the 2016 stoncy attitude would not mesh as perfect happy endings as a 2022 one. you know what i mean.
and THEN if u take the theoreticals away i don't think approaching relationships in this way makes... sense or is even super healthy anymore at least for these three characters in particular. and that just putting them all in a get along and all kiss now shirt doesn't get rid of the issues they ALL have with each other and with their own like. personal growth. like making them a throuple doesn't suddenly make the reasons steve and nancy don't work anymore and DIDN'T work suddenly evaporate and it doesn't change the weird hostile relationship steve and jonathan somehow still have and it doesn't fix the issues jancy are currently FACING. y'know. i see the potential appeal i just can't let it appear within my line of sight lest i start bleeding from my eye balls.
also like it's totally fair i suppose if these reasons in particular could maybe be why people like it ?? like for character study or something like it would be interesting but tbh i just don't care. i do not particularly like the direction jonathan's character has headed recently including re: steve and think steve should get a restraining order against him and after the absolute shit show of the clawed to death resurrection OF the stoncy love triangle in s4 even thinking about steve and nancy standing near each other right now makes the skeleton appear and st4ncy endgame would be such a horrific car crash of a backslide for them both i would have to commit suicide out of solidarity with the death of their characters. soooo basically um i don't like it that much teehee 😊✌️

The Eclipse Ep 1 - 3 Live Blogging
One of my most anticipated shows of the year due to the casting (FirstKhao my loves) and the moody vibes/plot. Also, everybody and their pets seem to be watching this show and there's just so much content for it, I'd most likely get spoiled if I wait. So, here starts my torturous journey for the next 9 weeks where I hope the show lives up to my expectations (the disappointment will be far greater if the ending falls flat when watching week to week than binging) + I get to enjoy the show with the fandom since it seems like it's an active one (the number of gifsets/tiktoks/long written posts I've seen already!).
Episode 1 (Aug 24)
I know this is a live blogging post but I'm thinking of actually just watching through at least each part without coming on here to write something every few minutes.
1-1
Funny that I've watched like 75% of this via tiktoks already, only that last scene of Ayan talking was new to me
The curse could still be a real thing maybe? I've heard people say it doesn't seem to have the supernatural aspect they expected, so maybe it doesn't exist but then again maybe it'll come into play later
I hadn't realized from the tiktoks just how long Akk stares at Ayan's underwear/pants as he zips them up
lol I already know that it was his uncle committing suicide + Ayan going to the school to investigate but the show itself making it a little more mysterious for now. Yeah, I wouldn't have escaped the spoilers lol
Akk, Kan, and their friend (one of the twins, AJ?) seem fun and relaxed among themselves, I got the impression that they'd be more reserved and repressed but I guess that's just Akk and Kan with their respective pairings
Ayan didn't wash his hands. Went to the sink but didn't wash I think
I thought this was a boarding school but seems not. They all live in their homes.
1-2
The students who were protesting the uniforms used -kha particles. The kids in the washroom called them "The World Remembers" squad or something
Ooh, a new teacher who is curious/questions things
Right now, I guess the curse could go either way being real or not but they're also setting it up that the "The World Remembers" students think somebody is behind these things and trying to hurt them
Ayan washed his hands this time
Ayan bringing the journal to school makes me nervous, is that also memorabilia from his uncle? They focused on it a bit when he came to school at the beginning of this part and also Akk noticed it at the end of this part
1-3
Akk really is so for the rules and seems to really, really believe nothing would be ever wrong if all the rules are followed
The twin's character's name is Wat. The next mission is to figure out the names of Win and Louis' characters
Kan seems more aware of how he feels and that he's into guys than Akk does. He seems to then do his best to contradict it and make it seem like nothing, like when he went at Wat for suggesting Kan and Louis' character were boyfriends or when he moved away when he was sitting too close on the bench.
Bro I keep typing people's real names instead of their character names lol Hard to really get into the character when I have like the real person and 2 other characters they've played in my head.
1-4
Akk's talk with the principal... there is a chance that the curse is supernatural because they both seem to believe in it
:( Ayan remembers his uncle and the moments they shared so often, from everything.
Fave scene of the episode: Ayan's "Are you into me, prefect?" followed by him just throwing everything Akk says back to him but flirty and outrageous. "I'm small and what? What can a big guy like you do to me?" is seriously my favourite but Akk not realizing what he's walked into lol
Okay yeah my hopes aren't too big anymore for the curse to be supernatural, they showed a hand using the flower pot
Oof Akk being like >:( What did the school ever do to you, huh? not knowing Ayan's uncle's suicide relates to the school somehow
This part ended up being actual live blogging since most of the scenes were new to me (fave scene not included, that's been a fave since release lol)
The mystery, the protests, and the "curse" seem like a really big part of the plot, which is cool! I hope that continues throughout the series instead of focusing 90% on the romance toward the middle/end.
The sound/music in this didn't bother me per se but it was certainly very loud and prominent lol
I'm curious about the views on this. They reached 1 million for episode 1 part 1 ~12 days after the release but I don't know how that compares to other GMMTV and popular non-GMMTV series.
Anyway, interesting first episode! I don't know how I feel about it as a first episode because I'm not actually having first-time reactions to the episode since I've seen such a large chunk of it already via fanworks.
Episode 2 tomorrow, then 3 the day after and then... a week of wait. On the bright side, seems like there's a sizeable fandom shaping up for it. So in the meantime, I can read the On-Air and other Eclipse threads on Reddit, listen to the BE Podcast episodes on it, participate in Discord discussions, watch all the tiktok vids/edits, and read/reblog the plethora of Tumblr posts/gifsets. That'll have to sustain me during the week + maybe rewatching. I'm also curious if this'll affect my consumption of other series. Perhaps I'll stick to light ones that don't require too much thought or emotional involvement?
Goodnight, it's 1 AM
Another thought the morning after: Because I already like the actors and trust the show to make the characters grow in organic ways, I'm not disliking any of the characters and am actually quite fond of them already. Akk's aggressiveness and one-track mind could easily have irritated me in another show and Ayan's audacity with his flirting could've put off but the actors are really charming.
Episode 2 (Aug 25)
Waiting 1 day to watch the next episode wasn't difficult, so here's hoping that maybe the weeklong wait won't be too bad either lol
2-1
I continue to think it's endearing seeing Akk, Kan, Wat be friends and goof around. Lets us see smiley Akk
Me seeing boys be friends in a boyfriend group: Wow so sad that I'll never be a teenage boy and get to hang out with people as just a dude :'). Me seeing the boys tease about being virgins: Well. Sucks about the not being a teenage boy thing but at least I avoided all that.
So Chadok is the head of Student Welfare, he's not the principal
Akk just going around telling Chadok and also the prefects that Ayan's up to something lol
Which student do I suspect is enacting the curse? Maybe Namo, Pawin's character since he seems kinda power-hungry? It'd be interesting if it's one of the main 4 but I don't think it's Ayan/Akk. If Kan, then maybe he's covering his tracks by insisting it's a supernatural curse? If Thua, then it wouldn't make sense to me but then again, we know nothing about him thus far and maybe he's just covering his tracks really well. Who else do we know? Wat? They haven't given him enough depth or motivation for that yet.
2-2
I fully don't get what the big deal was. Kan had everybody's assignments in that USB? And he couldn't just run after the teacher and hand it in after she's walked out? Lol nobody's yelling at you about missing assignments in uni and I can't remember how it was during high school. I think the teacher would be upset if we were all missing our assignments but then again, that wouldn't happen because we wouldn't give all our assignments to one person. But then again, we don't have things like prefects and class presidents and so there's more individual responsibility and only responsibility for your individual self/group.
I was unsure why they kept zoning in on Namo looking at Kan and Thua in that class and was wondering if they were trying to signify he has malicious intentions but I guess mans just knew what was going on.
Anyway, Kan brining macarons as apology, Thua not really accepting them, Namo telling him Kan got in the fight because the kids called Thua a slur, then Thua telling Namo to keep it a secret in case Kan gets kicked out of the Prefect Club (Aside but ...would Namo have reason to want that?) and taking the macarons
Someone on Twitter pointed out Ayan was napping on Akk's desk
I'm curious about Teacher Sani and what she's making of the school rules and how she'll come into play later
Akk talks so shitty about Teacher Dika/Ayan's uncle. When Ayan says he has no right to talk about Dika that way, Akk says what right does Ayan have to talk about Suppalo's rules that way. It gives very... conservatives who value businesses/terrible traditions and status quo over the rights and livelihood of actual people. This show, like Not Me, isn't subtle in its messaging (this one using the school as a metaphor for larger society whereas Not Me was talking about politics more directly) but it's still interesting to see the parallels
Also, 2nd time we got to see Ayan's Arthur meme fists while Akk's badmouthing Dika
I'm noticing the really loud background music this episode more than I did last episode
2-3
lol we may escape the product placement and silly sound effects but the singing with the guitar is here to stay (+ the dramatic background music). Seems like Kan's singing Louis' song from Fish Upon The Sky, it's a very catchy song, one of the first BL OSTs I added to my Spotify
Bro an intense ass scene of a classroom debate with the teacher. It was interesting how Ayan doesn't care for the uniform but is willing to acknowledge that it can be a form of equality, the way he's saying the hats are. It's mostly interesting because he's saying it's all true like yeah that guy was a dictator, but he was also implementing the hats for equality, and also the teacher approves of the uniforms which are for equality and was developed during the same era, but also Ayan doesn't fully abide by the uniform when he doesn't want/need to
Also, Akk's little "Ayan, stop" was really cute to me in the midst of all the intensity
Naurr, not a tussle between my beloved friend group! It ends well here (suchhh a cute hug, Wat the mediator) but hope it's not foreshadowing for more betrayal/upsetting moments between them (The Gifted: Graduation flashbacks)
Interesting to see how differently Akk and Kan are loyal. Kan's headstrong and ready to go to bat for people he cares about (@ the 11th graders for Thua, @ Akk for Wat) whereas Akk's willing to be disliked/"seen as the bad guy" to protect people he cares about (as a prefect to see that rules are follow which he believes is for the best of the students, to protect Wat here)
2-4
Cuteass shirt sniffing scene (Bad Buddy Pat tease), cute dog scene, cute scene in the teacher's bathroom that Akk was hounding Ayan for going to in ep 1
Thua telling Kan to not protect him anymore because he's used to it and doesn't wanna see Kan hurt.
Bro, this whole show is basically the characters trying to protect their friends in various ways
Unexpectedly weak and whiny Ayan (not that he didn't start his outrageous flirting soon enough)
cuteass frenemies shower scene
This part is very cute and BL-y
The zoom in on Namo and also the zoom in on Thua hmm
well, we're going from teasing frenemies to angry again
Should I watch the preview for next episode... maybe not? I watched ep 1's preview but that's because I knew most of this episode as well whereas I don't know how the preview will trick the audience for this one. Perhaps I'll watch it if I rewatch the ep later.
This episode didn't have much of the mystery of Ayan's uncle (I even forgot about it until we see him holding the diary in part 4) and not much about the curse. However, we did get a lot of like depth to the characters and their relationships, so it didn't feel like a stagnant episode.
I freaking love friendship groups in shows soooo much and I'm delighted to see the friendships here (Akk Kan Wat, and also Kan/Thua and frenemies to future lovers Akk/Ayan) and how they all look out for each other.
Forgot to mention this but is Teacher Dika Ayan's real uncle? or just like... an uncle the way every man who can be your dad's age/bit younger but isn't your dad is your uncle? His mom knows about it but that could also be like 'oh, he was a tutor and ofc his mom knew him. doesn't mean he was her brother'
Views Tracking (just because I'm curious. Wish I had other GMMTV/popular non-GMMTV data to compare with):
~14 Days Later
Ep 1 - 1: ~1.1M
Ep 1 - 4: ~615k
~7 Days Later
Ep 2 - 1: ~660k
Ep 2 - 4: ~500k (Interestingly, parts 3 and 4 are 3k and 30k less respectively. I guess part 4 has lots of cute moments between Ayan/Akk, thus the higher views)
Episode 3 (Aug 26)
Thought I'd wake up to catch the new episode premiering at 9:30 but was awake from 8am for some reason
3-1
Akk moving away from Ayan but that means he moves down from the higher ground so that he's not taller than Ayan anymore. something about that really tickles me
Thua's fist during the pledge?
Ayan and Thua also talking, the Kan/Thua and Ayan/Akk duos and Akk, Kan, Wat trio are becoming more intertwined. Also, what did Ayan tell Thua here?
3-2
Chadok really is giving Akk a lot of power to oversee the rules are followed
I do wonder what and how much influence Ayan has over the "The World Remembers" gang
ooh, we're gonna get a Wat storyline too?
how come they hang out so often at Akk's place but we have no clue about his parents or anything
I'll for real be so upset if this friendship group breaks up or betrays each other
3-3
holy shit at Ayan's... not murderboard but mystery connection board
holy shit at the students' protest and them being forcibly carried away
3-4
I wonder what Ayan was gonna do before he caught Akk tailing him
Ayan's got a thigh tattoo too for fuck's sake
Watching Akk dozing off felt like actual romantic interest/affection from Ayan's side whereas before it was like flirting to get Akk off his back, some curiosity, and some caringness that could be seen as just friendly
I legit was like... they're not gonna kiss right now right? It's ep 3
omggg Ayan not only getting flashbacks of Akk and him while Akk's dozing off but also during Judo. Ayan's like actually falling for Akk eek
Didn't have much to live blog because I was watching the show lol
Maybe I'll add Watch The Trailer to my "things to do for a week without another episode to watch" list because I think every gifset I've seen about the trailer or the scenes from when I watched the first half of the trailer w/o subs have already appeared in the show lol The next 9 episodes really going to be new stuff. Makes sense though considering they're still filming. In fact, today was Q19 (thread by ilykhaotunggg).
I think I need to choose either Aye or Ayan to refer to him as. I think Ayan is a prettier name but I've already used Ayan a whole bunch T.T Wish there was find and replace all. Update: changed all the references from Aye to Ayan.
Since I'm curious about the viewers on this, I think I'll also track the live audience for each episode (if I can catch it)
Highest viewers I saw watching premiere:
Part 1: 6.5k
Part 2: 5.7k
Part 3: 5.7k
Part 4: 7.3k (I guess because, once again, it's mostly cutesy moments between our beloved Ayan/Akk frenemies who are starting to fall for each other)
12 hours later:
Part 1: 325k
Part 4: 222k
Episode Thoughts:
I like how the characters are becoming more interconnected. Thua and Ayan, as well as Ayan with the protestors. Also, seems like we'll be getting a side story about Wat's career path. Didn't get much of Namo or Kan/Thua this episode.
Glad they brought back more of the protesting and the uncle mystery that wasn't there much last episode. This school is so shitty and uncaring of its students, as expected. Also interesting that Wat and Kan are trying to dissuade Akk from continuing to be the prefect president. Do they also want to quit? Would there be a moment where they can't bear to enforce (bro I forgot this word for like 2 days and the only thing I could think was 'implement the rules' but that's not what the prefects are doing, just enforcing them) these rules anymore and quit and Akk feels betrayed?
The romantic storylines are also progressing. I'm excited that it seems like Ayan's starting to actually be into Akk! Not just outrageous flirting for the sake of flirting but mans is getting flashbacks to their cute moments when they're too close. Good luck Ayan, did his share of flirting and flustering but hope he can handle being flustered as well.
Fave Scene: Ayan watching Akk doze off and us as the audience get to see as Ayan starts to fall. It's not just fun and games anymore.
Curse Culprint suspects: I don't knowwwww like
Namo is still the prime subject but idk if him being the culprit would be too obvious. He wasn't in this episode much anyway (Main suspect for curse but also main suspect of being a red herring - he’s framed suspiciously so that we focus on him instead of the actual culprit/s)
Kan? idk? he even tried to talk Akk out of being the prefect's president but idk if that means he's concerned for his friend or it's a little more nefarious. But also he seems really concerned for the trio, so I don't actually think he did it
Thua? He had his fist clenched tight while The World Remembers gang was being punished + we now know he doesn't fully agree with all these rules. He appears to be not involved in any school politics when speaking with Ayan but he could be hiding things, who knows.
Wat? idk I can't think of any motivation or suspicious activity. His storyline seems more related to his future career.
I wasn't suspecting the main pair in the previous episodes and I still don't think it's Ayan but maybe...
Akk. Teacher Chadok has given him the responsibility of stopping the kids' protest and seems like The Curse has been a good way to dissuade any unrest in the previous years. So perhaps he started off with that? And since Chadok has been putting more pressure on him to stop them, he's going the extra lengths to fuck with them. The Curse and Akk both have the same goal, so perhaps it's him? But then again, some of the consequences of the curse could actually hurt someone like the car or the flower pot and I don't know if Akk has that in him, so I don't think he did those. (Secondary suspect) SPOILER FROM SPECIAL EP: Hal said they showed Akk throwing paint on The World Remember group's posters, so this seems at least partially correct.
Perhaps it's more than one person and they may or may not know about the other(s)? Someone doing the flyer burning which doesn't actually harm anybody vs someone willing to let the kids be hurt to send a message? Each doing it for a different purpose?
It's funny because none of my stuff is based on evidence (like that one post with the glimmer of the watch) but just like... hm, can I think of a motivation?
Anyway, I think I'll rewatch at least episode 3 (or maybe all 3) on Thursday before the next episode. I'll watch a different show in the meantime but one where I don't think I'll get extremely invested or that has a complex plot.

Olympia Soiree Part 6 - Himuka Route
Tumblr media
Time for the guy I'm least excited for!! Mainly because Himuka looks like a kid and I can't get over it lol, but I am interested in his story itself since it seems like it should be interesting. Lmao at Himuka staring at her and then running away when she asked if he wanted to walk to the bathhouse with her lol, he's so cute. Awww it's cute how Byakuya is trying to be friends with Himuka. I guess now that you think about it, Byakuya and Himuka are similar in that they both fulfilled their roles impeccably by doing what was required and not engaging in human interaction, and both their jobs are crucial to Tenguu Island, where Byakuya's saves people and Himuka's "kills" people but saves them in another way I guess haha. Lmao, Hairi is such a brat. Nice to know why he doesn't want Byakuya to talk to Asuha though. It's because he knows that the more they talk, the more Asuha will want to go to the surface, but it'll be "impossible", so he doesn't want Asuha to get hurt by that reality and longing. It's sweet, and I'm glad Byakuya said it would hurt Asuha more if she stopped talking to him now since he'll think that she's the same as the others. Hairi saying "die" to Byakuya as he ran away was such a hilarious image🤣🤣 Byakuya's like his mother telling him to not say stuff like that lolll. Ooh I knew Jigen saved the Red from their "curse", but I didn't realise that the Red didn't actually prosper as a primary colour until Jigen came and used the toxic cinnabar to create dyes and other things that helped them become the respected colour clan they are today. I wonder why Himuka seems so scared and traumatised or something, especially when he asked Byakuya to not hate him and stuff, it actually felt really heartbreaking.
Tumblr media
Every time I read about the side characters dying for love, I can't help but tear up and cry for them. It's so hard to find someone you love that loves you back, and yet something like that is condemned and seen as something you should be executed for, and that just breaks my heart all the time. Honestly, what broke my heart the most wasn't finding out that Mio and Okijiku poisoned themselves as their way to be together, but when Kaina realised that they were the same as him, and then was happy for them that they got to die together. Honestly, considering how it's basically impossible for them to escape execution, I too think this path is the "best choice". At least they'll be together forever this way, instead of having their Shou extracted through Tamasogi in such a cruel way, and then used even in death to help an island that refuses to accept them and killed them like that. Don't tell me..Himuka is Lord Hiruko? Anyway, I've always felt it was disturbing that the dead are turned into crystals to sustain the island, so knowing that those who commit suicide are cremated and scattered into the ocean is actually nice in its own way. It's probably seen as disgraceful, but at least they have freedom in death and choosing how they want to die is something I can be happy for them for. Oh wow, Himuka looks so mature in the CG where he scatters the ashes, I'm quite shocked. It's sad to think about how lonely of a life Himuka must have led because he's "unclean" and always so close to the "smell of death" that everyone fears him. I'm glad Byakuya could tell him her thoughts about "hideous" things being a perception, and that just because people are different doesn't mean that they're hideous. It's cute how smitten Himuka was when he touched Byakuya, it was also really cute how much she blushed haha.
Tumblr media
I get so mad on Byakuya's behalf when Hairi calls her a monster girl because of how white she is blah blah, like I'm glad it's not affecting her as much as it did before, but it's still really hurtful and I feel bad for her that she has to hear that. Anyway, I agree with Akaza's words about Asuha and her relationship, Asuha has the freedom to dream, and I think it's that kind of "freedom" that will allow them to break free of the chains of this island and fight for change, instead of just accepting that things are how it is because that's what they are. I understand that Hairi is just worried about Asuha and knows firsthand how terrible the treatment can be from the surface people, but he really has no right to take it out on Byakuya just because she's the one who makes the sun that they will never see shine. I felt so bad for her when she cried, because no matter how good Hairi's intentions are, he has no right to control who Asuha can be friends with and forcefully driving people he doesn't like away from him. He's not protecting him, he's isolating him into a bubble. Anyway, I'm glad Byakuya realised that she was acting like a child when she "blamed" Douma for creating the solar link where you offer Shou to the sun, when I'm sure just finding one way to preserve the sun and keeping this island alive is already difficult enough after the Red Calamity. Ohh, so the thing with Byakuya's hair colour taking on the colour of her lover is not only something romantic, but also because the women of the White do this to offer these "colours" to the sun and that's how the women of the White sustained the sun all these years, and I guess that's why it was so important for the lunar ferry to exist so that the women could kinda absorb those colours as offerings to the sun. I guess that's why they're white? Because then they'll be like "blank palettes" that can take on any colour and give that to the sun?
Tumblr media
Riku is so pure and kind. Seeing him teary and sad at the Corpse Beach because of Okijiku made me sad too. Tokisada hoping Himuka is an Outsider because he wants an Outsider friend the same age as him is the most adorable thing ever!! I'm glad Byakuya stopped Yuusuge from trying to die, because I don't think she'll be able to take another death close to her. It's saddening to see Yuusuge in so much pain, but I also kinda wished that she would cherish life more after Okijiku and Mio's deaths, especially since her parents really want to see her, and I'm sure they would be devastated to see her corpse instead. Himuka's story of the birth of the Red being the blood of the guy who killed the goddess Amaterasu and then himself is quite morbid but interesting🤔 Himuka actually answering Byakuya's question of what he likes about her, and just listing all the things he likes about her is so cute. He's still not my type, and I honestly don't feel Byakuya's feelings for him, but I do feel like I want to protect him, even though he's apparently much older than Byakuya. Anyway, sometimes I wonder why Himuka is so free since he always seems so busy in other routes, but then again people can't die every single day, otherwise the island would be screwed, so it's understandable that he actually has a schedule haha😅 I'm so glad Nagusa and Kanan couldn't do anything to Byakuya, I was so scared for her when they wouldn't let her leave. Lmao at Byakuya asking Kuroba if intercourse is fun🤣🤣 The goddess of darkness Izanami that sleeps beneath the spring with water that gives you haku is Himuka's mother? I wonder if she comes out to possess people with strong negative emotions or something, since Himuka saw his mother in Hairi. Why is Himuka suddenly being accused for murder? Is it Nagusa or something bigger? Omg, if Izanami wakes up from under the Shinimizu Spring, the water will overflow and everyone on Tenguu Island will die from haku?! No wonder why everyone was so worried after the "earthquake".
Tumblr media
Yep, Himuka really is Hiruko, huh? Imagine everyone who worships him like a god actually treating the real thing like trash😶 Now it's kinda funny thinking that Hiruko is obsessed with Olympia😅 Byakuya and Himuka feeding each other passionfruit was so cute haha. Byakuya's underwear really does look like a swimsuit haha, interestingly, it's a black colour. I'm still in disbelief over Hairi being the executioner. I still remember that bad ending with Riku becoming the executioner, and I felt sorry for whoever has that job...but to think it was Hairi all along. No wonder why he harbours so much hatred towards the people on the surface, and no wonder why he thinks there's no hope for any change in the future. His life has been "destroyed" already. I can't even imagine how many people he must have had to "kill" with Tamasogi, and it must have been even worse that there's a high possibility he would know them. Anyway, I felt bad when Himuka shouted at Akaza and called him cursed and the last person fit to be with Byakuya. Isn't that ironic? The one we thought was the most fit for Byakuya and that everyone encourages her to pick might actually be the guy who is most problematic when it comes to being her potential husband in the end.. I'm looking forward to Akaza's route now, well I already was because he's been my favourite since I first saw him, but I'm even more curious now lol.
I guess we should be glad that Hairi seems to have been mainly targeting the people who are suicidal instead of killing random people, but it's still sad because if they were like Yuusuge who thought about it but can't bring themselves to really go through with it, and Hairi just "kills" them, then that's pretty terrible. Or who knows if he actually manipulates them into thinking they want to die, since it seems like he got rid of the soldiers who tailed him. I wonder if he would have gone so far if he didn't fall into Shinimizu Spring and heard Izanami's voice that she would grant him his wish if he gave her pure and beautiful Shou. Glad to know Kanan's priorities are always the same, always trying to defile Byakuya, like geez dude. Anyway, it's sad to see Hairi so broken and manipulated by people like Kanan and tormented by all the people he had to execute. I always thought Himuka never really looked at Byakuya for who she was, and it's nice to know that it was true, because in the beginning, he only really saw her as the vessel and soul that will receive Amaterasu when Byakuya turns 18 and gets a husband. Now I'm curious about whether Amaterasu will really come. On the other hand, it's sad that the reason why colours are so important in this world is because Amaterasu really loved looking at rainbows, so Hiruko decided to create a world filled with every colour, but people twisted it into only "loving" beautiful colours and decided that the rest should be thrown away.
Tumblr media
It's nice that Himuka was able to get rid of Izanami (although I wonder how it feels to be shunned and left at the bottom of a lake never able to leave because she's a goddess of the "dark" and no one wants to essentially save her) but he has to sacrifice himself? Well, it's nice to finally have an explanation for the corniness of everyone looking for their missing half, their soulmate. Hiruko made it like that because he didn't want people to be like him and be lonely, so he wanted people to be fated to search for their soulmate and never have to experience that solitude he had to endure. What? The Yellow were created from Tsukuyomi's blood, and the Blue were created from Hiruko's blood after Amaterasu died and there was no more light in the world so they needed to create humans again?? Honestly, Tsukuyomi always looked and felt like a god so I'm not too surprised that he basically is one haha. Ooh, Amaterasu is Hiruko's sister...I still think his "love" for her is deeper than towards Byakuya though🥲 Anyway, ending was cute, but I honestly don't feel the romance between Himuka and Byakuya, which is understandable since I feel like the route focused on the plot more, but yeah, still disappointing in regards to the romance even if it is so. In regards to the bad ending where the world ends, and Himuka makes another tiny world to house the doll that looks just like Byakuya and transferring her soul to one of those.. butterflies or whatever? It was kinda bittersweet in its' own way. Hiruko's world failed, and he's technically alone forever without her, but he also doesn't need to be condemned by his people either, so I guess even if things are fake, there is still some sort of happiness. Well, um, that sleeping beauty bad ending was really random and weird loll! Like how did the world ending go back on to the plot track of needing another White descendant to cure haku?? And how old is Hairi loll, because that was just weirddddd.
Tumblr media
Overall, Himuka's route was all right. I kinda expected more and hoped that I could overcome his "young" appearance with good development on the relationship and romance, but unfortunately not, because I think most of it was really just Himuka thinking he was undeserving of Byakuya whilst wanting to be with her, which is okay, but it really didn't resonate with me even after knowing everything. I was honestly pretty apathetic to it all. I did appreciate more insight into the lore with Hiruko, Izanami and the whole Hairi thing which was sad but also frustrating, because Hairi has always been annoying to me loll. Things also seemed to be resolved rather easily with Amaterasu just reviving Himuka and somehow it solved all the problems with the colour thing etc, so Himuka could be her husband lol. I guess I mostly enjoyed finally understanding Hairi's hatred, but in terms of romance, it was definitely lacking and the weakest in terms of all the routes imo. Otherwise, Himuka really deserves to finally be happy and not be chained to constantly trying to protect this island and Amaterasu. Seeing him so happily spending time with Byakuya is heartwarming since it was something he always wanted but could never have.

Alright I finally finished Subahibi. It was definitely a wild ride and well...I don't feel disappointed. I got some of the cool stuff I expected of it in the first half which was more than enough to satisfy me.
But then there's the latter half which was underwhelming to say the least.
I'm not gonna go over every single little plot detail and try to dissect the story. I'm not really interested in discussing it right now and there's nothing about this story that I particularly despised or hated from a purely narrative viewpoint. I also don't feel like complaining about any of the more obnoxious content that's within it
But something about this story that really didn't bode well with me is the seemingly shoehorned message that comes up in the latter half.
"Life Happily"
Kind of a common message right? It's not really a bad one though.
However this is absolutely not the story for this kind of message. After reading through this visual novel and going through every single ending, I'm just not left with that impression at all. It's not inspiring. In the context of this visual novel it's actually almost insulting.
Like let's take a character like Zakuro for example. Did she not try her best to "live happily"? She's horrificly bullied, abused, harassed, abandoned and for what? She's not a bad person. She never did anything to deserve even half of what happens to her in the story.
What kickstarts her bullying? Helping out her old friend who was also a victim of bullying due to being neurodivergent.
Now I'm not saying you can't portray these things in a story. I'm not saying you can't show the unfortunate result that becomes of these kinds of situations. But when you have these subjects in a story like this, the message I'm not gonna take from it is "Just be happy lol"
But let's just say, maybe this story is trying to say a little more than that. It's not just telling the viewers to be happy. Maybe it's telling the viewers to make the most of the situation, even if things currently look very bleak.
Alright. Sure. All bad situations will come to pass. But even then. You can't just ignore the lingering trauma that comes from these horrific experiences. This story does not pretend trauma doesn't exist. In fact the trauma themes are very present within it. Like extremely. The entirety of My Own Invention puts you in the shows of a very traumatized person. It's not a subject the story shys away from in the slightest.
Living with trauma is not easy. It can ruin a person's life if left untreated. It's not something you can just ignore and make the best out of without heavily sacrificing your own mental state. The story touches upon this...and does absolutely nothing with it.
Actually no. To say it does nothing with it is a bit of an understatement.
Because the thing is. Not a single character who suffers from trauma actually recovers.
Zakuro never gets the chance. She's easily swayed while her mental state is at its most fragile and commits suicide. Did she not live happily? In order for her to live happily, was she supposed to ignore her classmate in need?
Takuji does not recover. Instead his entire personality. Yes, entire personality is completely wiped and replaced with a more ideal non-traumatized version of himself. He essentially reverts back to how he was before his trauma occurred except he has the same experience and mental state of a completely healthy person of his age. Did he also not try to live happily? After experiencing such trauma he was never given the chance to recover and spiraled down an unhealthy path as mental state got worse. His mental scars made him an easy target for bullying. Was he just supposed to suck it up and find happiness through his porn addiction?
Kimika. What did she do wrong? Have mental illness? And for that she was ruthlessly bullied and made to witness the only person who cared for her also get bullied. She tried to reach out to teachers and they willingly turned a blind eye. In the end, she's swept up into a crazy cult and eventually commits suicide.
So like. What exactly is the lesson to be learned here? I look at these characters' stories, and all I think is "Yeah. Life sucks extreme ass". The only character who actually benefits from this message is the one who literally had his trauma poofed away like magic.
So when this story tell me to "live happily" the only message I'm getting is "Just don't have mental illness kids! Just don't have trauma!"
Because sure. If trauma simply didn't exist, then everyone would be able to live through horrific events and come out completely unscathed. Like once it's over, it's over, right? Yeah, that would be cool, but unfortunately, the human brain doesn't work like that. That's just not how people work in the slightest.
At its core the message this story tries to feed you a completely nonsensical message in regards to its content because nothing that's actually portrayed adds up.
This message feels more victim-blamey than anything. Oh man your life sucks right now due to how you're treated by people and society as a whole? Eh, just deal with it and be happy.
It's not like it's impossible to have a story with dark content with a positive core message. It's been done well hundreds of times. But that message has to be earned. What did your characters do to prove to me, the viewer, that your message holds true? Subahibi is not a story that attempts to prove that living happily is the key to life. It just doesn't. It's more of an unrelated after-thought. A theory that hasn't been tested with all the evidence against it arguing that it doesn't hold water.
The monologue for one of the endings only leaves a further bad taste in my mouth.
People just look for excuses to commit suicide...? Lmao what? So everyone just wants to die for no reason and will actively hope for disaster to come so they can finally commit to it? This is the most Japanese society understanding of suicide I've ever read in my life.
How about. People suffer due to various circumstances, whether it be physically or mentally. Instead of getting the help they need- even if they desperately reach out, society turns their back on them and instead tells them to just ignore it and smile through the pain. Be happy because it's easier for everyone that way. And once they're eventually pushed to their limit? Well, obviously, everyone just secretly wants to die. It's not a problem with society it's just how humans are programmed!
It feels so bizzare that a visual novel with such a cynical take on the world ends up trying to feed you this half assed message of positivity. It almost feels like a parody. Honestly I would prefer it that way.
Again, I don't think this story is BAD. The message is so weird it just feels like someone on the team realized they needed something positive to leave the viewers off with and quickly scribbled something down.
In the end I guess this will be a story I'll remember but only half of it, which is a huge shame.

i’ve been seeing a lot of confusion regarding the plot of 4x05, so i thought some people might appreciate a brief overview of everything that’s going on with The Twelve and how the themes relate to Villaneve. because truly we’re all just here to watch two women kiss and the plot is SO HARD TO FOLLOW FOR NO REASON 😭 ok lets do it
4x05 Recap: As we knew, carolyn's father was a spy during the cold war. following in his footsteps, a younger carolyn has just been hired to the UK’s intelligence service, and her first mission is to infiltrate an anarchist political group, presumably to keep tabs on the soviet union’s influence in europe. here, she meets Johan (who she pretends? to date) and a young Konstantine (who she’s instantly attracted to, moreso than you’d want a spy to be lol). Not long after they sleep together, carolyn finds her father dead. she investigates and realizes konstantine is a KGB agent who only got close with her to get info on her father. konstantine snapped photos of him kissing other men and used his sexuality to blackmail him. subsequently, carolyn’s father commits suicide.
instead of just killing konstantine, in classic carolyn style she tries to make a deal with him, likely to find out who was targeting her father and get justice for him. but before she can, a jealous Johan interrupts. They end up killing him (or so they think). in reality Johan survives and goes on to help found The Twelve--which we finally understand is an organization dedicated to the political philosophy of anarchy. Based on Vlad’s behavior throughout the show, I think It’s possible that the Russian government is in bed with The Twelve, so we might hear more about that soon.. but anyways!
i know there has always been this theory that carolyn was a member of the twelve, but i never bought into that for various reasons and i think 4x05 makes it pretty clear now that she wasn’t. she was just spying on a group of people where the first ripples of the idea developed.
Post-4x05: These events set carolyn and konstantine down opposite paths-- konstantine becomes enmeshed with the twelve, while carolyn throws herself into MI6 work, seeking revenge but also probably out of guilt for making mistakes that lead to her father’s death. yet at the center of this mess is the strange love/hate relationship that carolyn and konstantine never seem able to let go of... from what i can tell they stay in contact for a while afterward, exchanging love letters as well as government secrets (at least long enough for them to frame Vlad as Carolyn’s source). The show hasn’t explained when or why they lose contact.
(disclaimer: it looks like the crew screwed up the timeline because 4x05 is the first time carolyn and konstantine meet and it uses the title card “1979,” but in 1x07 kenny finds letters between carolyn and konstantine that were dated “1977-1978″ ... so i’m working with what i have here ldkjfd sorry)
okay, fast forward to season 1 episode 1.
carolyn hires eve to investigate a series of assassinations that she secretly suspects is the work of The Twelve..... which means that, decades later, it appears she only has a loose grasp on what the organization might have grown to be or who exactly is involved. though she is unsurprised to hear their name when Frank implicates them in 1x05.
In 1x06 however, carolyn appears VERY shocked when none other than konstantine vasiliev joins her, eve, and vlad at dinner. this is the scene that gave me the impression that the two of them haven't spoken in many years.
whew okay that’s pretty much it!! hopefully the overall thread of the story is making sense now... the question is ???? why tf should anyone care about this? lmao. personally i think it’s interesting to look at how carolyn x konstantine work as a contrast to villaneve.
Why this stuff matters: Eve and villanelle are the products of carolyn and konstantine respectively right. they’re like a fucked up family. carolyn originally saw eve as a pawn to help her achieve her personal goals, and of course konstantine groomed villanelle to be a weapon for the twelve.
what we're seeing play out in eve and villanelle's relationship is actually like... a breaking free of the older generation's war. carolyn and konstantine were star-crossed lovers in the truest sense, on opposite sides of a sociopolitical conflict, as well as (not completely) opposite sides of the moral spectrum. yes they cared for each other, but their relationship was built on distrust and hatred really. in 1x06 when eve asks "is konstantine an old friend?" carolyn simply answers  "no" with a smile. because whatever love they shared, it was never enough to overcome their differences.
eve and villanelle stand in stark contrast to that. neither are loyal to a certain party or cause--in fact they were both morally lost at the beginning of the show--but they found something worth being loyal for in each other. they are willing to change for each other, with villanelle becoming more like eve and eve becoming more like villanelle, and both working to find common ground, common humanity between them. carolyn and konstantine were little more than puppets of two corrupt governments, but with eve and villanelle it’s not british agent vs. russian agent. they’ve felt the corruption on both sides and their love exists outside the bounds of society altogether.
it’s a love that crosses cultural lines, nationality, political ideology, differences in morality, and importantly, sexuality norms. the fact that eve and villanelle are both women, the dangers of which were powerfully highlighted by the blackmailing of carolyn’s father in this episode.
and actually, carolyn’s whole character arc follows this homophobia-related thread. her mistakes in the ‘70s inadvertently led to the outing and death of a gay man, which has been at the heart of everything she does. now in the modern day, carolyn has watched and in some ways oddly encouraged the development of a romance between eve and villanelle, two women on opposing sides of a war. it’s almost like a combination of carolyn’s issues with her father and konstantine... and perhaps a resolution of them. i think she empathizes with eve and villanelle. even roots for them a little. its been delightful to watch because carolyn underestimated eve when she first recruited her and she didn’t expect to have her life so profoundly changed by her friendship.
something similar could be said for konstantine, as he was the one who orchestrated the blackmail. he was always far less enthusiastic than carolyn about eve and villanelle’s relationship, but i think being witness to their love has deeply affected him as well.
back to what i was saying though about villaneve existing outside the bounds of society... killing eve is a stunning love story because nearly every force in the world is working to keep them apart, yet they have this unexplainable, unbreakable bond that transcends it all. and again, konstantine and carolyn are important because they work as a contrast to this-- two people who DID let their differences get in the way of their love. carolyn reflects on this briefly in 4x05 and man this scene brought tears to my eyes:
Carolyn: “Do you ever think what might’ve happened if we hadn’t [killed Johan]? Do you think we might’ve had nice, normal existences? Kept our children? Maybe you and I... [trails off].”
Konstantine: “I don’t know.”
Carolyn: “No, you’re right. People like us aren’t made for happy lives with happy endings.”
But maybe eve and villanelle could be... if they learn from their mentors.
anyways thats it i guess! oof this was longer than i expected haha but yeah these are just my thoughts after watching 4x05, thanks for reading if anyone made it this far <3

i think ive read almost all your meta and im trying my best to catch up to the lore since im very new to the fandom but i just dont seem to understand exactly why c!dream is in prision ??? like. from what i can gather he's done nothing that other characters haven't done too ? like murder, manipulation, physical abuse, etc. are all things that as far as i can tell at least someone else has done at some point or another?? and if he's in prision solely bc that is the only way to "contain" him does he have powers/abilities that the others don't ? bc they didn't know about him being able to revive people before the prision right ?? im just really confused as to why he's the only one there or even why they're so afraid of him.
also and this might actually be a really dumb question but like. when is murder okay in the smp ?? like why is it okay for c!sam to threaten to murder c!tommy but c!dream killing c!tommy is unforgivable? if c!sam killed c!tommy would the others see him as much of a monster as c!dream? is the how they get killed whats important ??
(pls feel free to ignore this if they're dumb question/you've already answered !! love your blog and writing!)
hi!! so these are all really good questions and half of them i don’t have, like. a definite answer to, so some of them will just be my best guess or opinion based off canon, but i wanted to touch on them all anyway because they’re all super interesting to me!!
(below the cut bc i rambled KDKFDJVNKD)
why is c!dream in prison?
i’m p certain it was the only other alternative (in the eyes of the characters) to death for c!dream. it was between taking his last life or locking him up, and, after c!dream revealed the revive book to them just before he was imprisoned (in the season two finale stream!), c!tommy, in the hopes of bringing c!wilbur back, kept c!dream alive and decided to lock him in the prison instead. of course, c!tommy then MET c!wilbur, and realised he didn’t want him back At All, but i digress lol dsbcksdjk
c!dream has done nothing that the other characters haven’t also done
VERY true !! however, by the point he was locked up in the end of season two, i,,, genuinely, for that stream, thought it would be the best thing. i’m one of the bigger supporters of c!dream, and even before i became sympathetic to him i was a huge fan of his General Villainy, but the shit he did to c!tommy was absolutely horrific. until i actually saw the prison and the inside of it, i was convinced locking him away was the Best Option - for him and for the rest of the server.
HOWEVER !! although he went too far, his “going too far” was sort of a culmination of ,,, other atrocities others have committed on the server ?? murder, manipulation, gaslighting (dubious that c!dream did this considering how twisted his own sense of reality/real life is), destroying things/buildings, blowing up countries/buildings ,,, like, everyone else on the server has Also Done Those Things. and i mention this, i think, in my long-ass monster essay i wrote on the dream smp, but c!dream in that season felt a lot like a moral line, if that makes any sense? like the audience were beginning to get annoyed by c!tommy’s actions + begin to see him as less of a hero, UNTIL c!dream exiled him and abused him like he did. so even though c!tommy’s actions were bad, c!dream’s were WORSE, pushing c!tommy into a more heroic spotlight, i guess? if that makes any sense? so everyone else automatically looks better in comparison to c!dream, because yeah, sure, they manipulated their fiancé into suicide-bombing the monarch’s castle and tried to initiate war between the two sides while also manipulate the new president so much that said manipulator is basically president, but hey, don’t worry, they would NEVER hurt one of our favourite characters (yes c!quackity, i’m looking at you).
so even though these other characters have done bad things (and i’m certain this is something that will be explored thoroughly in this season coming up, considering it already is!), compared to c!dream in season two, they (and the audience) can reassure themselves that they are Good compared to c!dream’ Bad, hence the lack of punishment for the rest of them. and also, because their moral boundaries of what’s right and what’s wrong just seem to be so skewed LMAO.
if he's in prision solely bc that is the only way to "contain" him does he have powers/abilities that the others don't ? bc they didn't know about him being able to revive people before the prison right ?
they actually did know, yeah !! though most didn’t believe him, apparently, which is interesting in hindsight, c!dream revealed his revive book knowledge in the finale stream to bargain for his life !! but yeah i basically think the prison is just a containment - and an awful punishment for his crimes - until they needed him to revive c!wilbur. of course, now, with c!wilbur revived, there technically should be no need to keep him alive in the eyes of the server ,,,,,, EXCEPT, of course, that a lot of them are low on lives. EXCEPT, of course, now c!q knows the revive book works, and wants to get his hands on it too.
when is murder okay in the smp ? if c!sam killed c!tommy would the others see him as much of a monster as c!dream? is the how they get killed what's important ??
ANON THIS IS SUCH A GOOD POINT !!!! yeah !!! and once again it comes down to the skewed ideas of “right” and “wrong” in the server, and it comes down to who has been immortalised as a hero or villain in the L’Manburg Narrative (my beloved, my detested). because c!dream went against l’manburg/c!wilbur/c!tommy, he was made out to be the villain (same kind of idea w/ c!schlatt), and as villains, their actions, no matter how good or noble they can be at times, are viewed as evil and manipulative. in contrast, everything one of the Heroes TM (c!tommy, c!tubbo, c!wilbur,,,, even c!puffy ig?, etc) is viewed as good, or them trying to be good. this is super apparent in the reactions of the characters + audience to c!sam - c!sam was canonically starving + neglecting c!dream for days and days, and was still classed as “good”, cut off c!ponk’s arm, and was still (by a lot of the fandom) classed as “good” - it took him yelling and threatening to kill c!tommy for the fandom + all characters to see him as corrupt or, in some cases (the fandom/c!tommy), evil. i think he’s a really good example of the polarised ideas of good and evil and how inaccurate they actually are !!
BUT YEAH LOL SORRY FOR THE RAMBLE !!!! i find all this stuff super interesting and can’t help but talk about it for ages - the dream smp is so interesting in terms of morality + its views of good and evil and i love talking about it so tysm for giving me the chance to !! i hope these answered your questions :DD remember, these are only my analyses / opinions and may not be accurate !!

Ahhh I’m happy to see someone else loving The Devil Judge - it truly is amazing 😭😭🖤✨ I love Yo-Han and Ga-on’s relationship I swear let them be destructive together!
I hate waiting for new episodes so please tell me one of your theories, it can be about anything! 🥰
Right?! I love it so much, it's really good to have our lilttle fam getting bigger, can't wait until it airs on Netflix, we will have even more people going crazy about it in here! (at least I hope it will become a Netflix series after the show ends like Beyon Evil - another love of mine) and yes, lawful husbands can be destructive together but only to the bad people pls 🥺
It's tough waiting for new episodes every weekend and at the same time I wish for it not to end so soon. It hasn't finished but I already want Jisung and Jinyoung in a second season or working together in another drama. Their chemistry on screen is too good to stop there
About the theories, there's a few I saw on reddit/twitter and I make my own based on it and after watching every episode, but I think it's too early to talk about them. However, since you requested it, there's some that come to mind as interesting enough to mention.
The fire and the story behind it narrated by Yohan
1- Some people think Yohan did start the fire because he found out about the dirty politicians real intentions and decided to destroy them all in the same place before Isaac could donate the money bc he is "a devil" and capable of that since he was a kid as told by the priest with the school incident and the nanny with the maid and dog thing. side note: not for pranking some kids who bullied him because that's all it seems like, right? But in terms of observing, thinking strategically and being one step ahead when needing to punish the whole classroom who wronged him even as young as he was and feeling satisfied while watching the result and staying out of it. A type of mentality probably encouraged by Isaac and the books he gave him to read, unlike a regular kid who would just fight back or endure it. And we still have to see if it really was Yohan that contributed to the maid's death or if it was something/someone else and the nanny thinks it was him.
They think that Elijah even saw him in front of the door right before the fire started and smiled at him instead of smiling at her parents, like she did in the gates of the cathedral in the previous scene, so that's why she hates him so much now because she can remember seeing him as the responsible for it. But Yohan didn't intend to kill/hurt Isaac and the rest of the family, thinking he could save them or something, and felt guilty that he couldn't do so. Some even said that Yohan delayed too much in trying to save them after entering the church and seeing Elijah getting her legs hurt, that it may have been shock but why would he remember everything and everyone so clearly if he was in shock?
It's a good theory but I have my own remarks: why wouldn't he tell Isaac about the politicians himself if he knew the dirty about them then? They had a close relationship and Isaac gave him books about punishment and everything, it wasn't like Isaac was too naive and wouldn't believe his half-brother. He wouldn't have donated if Yohan told him. "Oh he was being the devil and finding a way to punish them instead of just letting is slide and not donating" still, Yohan wouldn't risk Isaac and Elijah with such a dangerous plan if he could avoid having Isaac and Elijah at all in the destruction scene by telling Isaac about it. It could have been shock and Yohan wanting to look and commit to mind everyone's face in that day responsible for hurting his niece and not caring about anyone else but themselves, pushing him away and delaying his attempt to get to them in time, leaving Isaac and the family behind (after they almost donated them their money) and things like that. So he can avenge them now, like he did in the school with the kids. That's why as soon as he could, he canceled the donation in the most easy way by saying his brother wasn't sane enough to make that decision before dying.
There's also the theories about Isaac being the insane/evil one, which wouldn't surprise me because I've considered it since episode 3 but at the same time I'll not be touching that topic now and I don't know if I ever will unless proven otherwise in some other episode
2- The other theory I have and saw people discussing (the one I'm most inclined to believe because I'm Yohan biased but again it's too soon to be sure) is that the story Yohan narrated is mostly if not completely true and he experiences extreme guilt for not coming back and saving Isaac when the church collapsed on him, as seen in the character introduction by tvN translated in this tweet that we now know it's about Isaac:
Tumblr media
The last words Yohan said to Isaac was that he was going to come back for him, so he experiences nightmares like the flashbacks we saw in episode 1 and that's why we don't see any scene of Isaac in the middle of the church after the fire staring at Yohan or during the fire and turning to stare directly at Yohan when he narrates it. Because they're dreams and his guilty conscience and he remembers them when looking at Gaon. The flashback of Yohan kneeling down and touching Isaac with Elijah's bear close to him could be after he got Elijah out from there and he went back to put the bear next to him kinda like a "Sorry for not coming back in time", a reassurance that his daughter for whom he died for is safe and will always stay with him, a "Goodbye". He wouldn't just let Isaac's body lying there, he would go back even if it was too late.
Another thing is that when Yohan is showing Gaon his scar after telling the story, there's a book fallen at his feet. I think it was the thing that fell when Yohan standed up from the table and choked Gaon (trying hard not to comment on that choking scene as a 🔥 Gahan moment for our delight and imagination bc that's not the point right now lol)
Tumblr media
This is the book:
Tumblr media
And the first page of this book says "Never again will a single story be told as though it's the only one." - John Berger
I searched about it and it can mean that never again will a story be told as if it's the only one that matters. It could also mean that never again will a story be so encompassing of the elements it tackles that no other story need be written about these elements. A story has many perspectives that cannot be understood by just a single viewpoint. Isn't that what this kdrama is all about?
One of the translations of what Yohan said after Gaon left was:
Tumblr media
But there's also another version:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The meaning of what he said changes a bit depending on which translation is more accurate, more so when we add the book quote to the equation.
Kim Gaon and his connection to Kang Yohan
People think Gaon could be Isaac's relative in some way or just a look alike (I think it's just a look alike to contribute to Yohan's obsession/curiosity and their proximity from the start, that's why no one really comments on it, not even Gaon when he sees Isaac's picture). Dear God, let them not be related because it would make shipping our lawful husbands really strange, to say the least.
What I'd like to say and almost everyone is forgetting is that in the tvN character introduction we already have Gaon's past and know he wasn't always a goody two shoes, the man was a juvenile delinquent and can even fight (the rebellious phase he said he made the tattoo in episode 3?). He too sought revenge for his parents when he was 16 because they committed suicide after losing their money and being deceived by multi-level con artists posing as social service workers. But the teacher and Soohyun were able to hold him back.
Tumblr media
Yohan's father could be one of the reasons for their death. He was a loan shark and might have lend them money after they lost it all and it caused them to have a great debt, that's why Yohan did a thorough research on Gaon and was interested in him (not only because he resembled his half-brother). They shared one enemy in common and maybe even a place (churches, Yohan's father tended to confess his sins in a church when his debtors killed themselves). Or Yohan might have researched about him at the time he knew Gaon was chosen to be the associate judge sitting on his left side instead of way before, because it's important to Yohan to know who he is dealing with and the dirty of their past if they have any. And then Yohan discovered everything and saw his picture and resemblance to Isaac.
The thing is: they have the same distrust/repulsion of powerful people who deceive the world and had a painful loss because of that. Both of them think they have the other exactly where they want but they get more confused about what it is that they really want from the other and get closer (as said in the summary of episode 5 that tvN released) while figuring it out. They will come to an understanding and probably join forces at some point. We saw it in the end of episode 4, the scene of episode 5 when Gaon says he can understand Yohan's pain but can't trust him if he doesn't tell him everything and then Yohan says Gaon needs to decide if he will get in his way or stay by his side. Gaon might go back to his rebellious days and stay with Yohan to seek revenge together while distancing himself from Soohyun and Jungho who prevented him from doing so
Tumblr media
And that's about it! Thank you for your ask and hope my answer is satisfying enough! 💙 The hardest but also most awesome part is having to wait to see.

ANGELA WHEATLEY IS FAKING IT! 🤯
that alone begs the question, who all is compromised? like, she was in the hospital. any genius in the medical field would know she is faking it. 🙄
real talk, i suspended belief regarding these shows a long time ago. 🙃
ten bucks says she had her own son (rafiq) killed. if not, she probably knew damn well her ex-husband (is he really her ex?) was going to have him killed. rafiq was fucking with their family business. that entire family is trash. 🤬
richard knew the right things to say on the stand to get the jury to have doubts, especially when it regards the thin blue line. rafa was barking up the wrong tree. if he truly wanted to put the nypd on full blast, i am sure he would not have had to look very far. 😑
who or what the fuck was richie staring at in prison??? i do feel sorry for him. he is like the only member of that family who never was one hundred percent into the family business. even though his grandfather was a racist, he still loved him. manfredi must have been a saint compared to richard. ☹️
why is richard not charged with threatening sonny? 🤬
elliot was held in contempt, but cool cop apparently cut him some slack. ten bucks also says judge is compromised. perhaps, the jury is too. fuck, at this point, the entire eastern seaboard is. 🙄
was richard checking elliot out while elliot was using the bathroom? his eyes were staring down, lol. 🤣
i get the stabler kids wanting to be in court, but elliot knew damn well it wouldn't be a good idea for them to hear about him and angela. eli is too young to deal with shit like that. is it just me, or was it implied elliot wasn't at the trial on the first day, because he asked olivia about it? damn, dude! your kids were there, or at least some of them? olivia was there. fuck, i should not watch my shows when i am exhausted. elliot picks and chooses when to be present. no wonder his family is a mess. he and olivia are mending what friendship they once had. 🥺
rafa just burned his and olivia's friendship to the ground. rafa may have gotten himself in a mess with richard by refusing to be his consigliere. no one says "no" to the mob without some sort of consequence. okay, is rafa jealous that olivia has feelings for elliot? 🙃
richard was right though, it was like a fucking soap opera in that courtroom. i would be throwing good liquor around too, lol. 😎
my wannabe detective hat is on. was eli being followed? like, it's possible. it's possible his phone was hacked too. he may have been tracked. it appeared to have been a coincidence mia was where he would be. she is dead. maybe there will be an information trail somewhere regarding her and eli meeting. eli was sexually assaulted. he is only fourteen. mia probably didn't know his age, but the wheatley family does! 🤬
i am definitely suspending belief on how fast jet was able to access the hidden cameras which quickly exonerated eli. 🙃
i swear it's a fucking pissing contest with cops. a reasonable cop would welcome other jurisdictions, because it could help find the real truth instead of locking the wrong person up for a crime that they didn't commit. 🤣
italian pride, lol! i heard a variety of italian surnames. 🇮🇹 😎
how is dana not in jail? is she out on bail? was there not enough evidence to move forward? her daddy is a free man too. that entire family is privileged. 🤑
eli almost died by suicide. he was framed for mia's murder. fortunately, he was saved. we need more cops like lucas. i think eli will be the first stabler kid to accept olivia as a mother-figure. 💜
that hand hold! the best birthday present ever! thank you, nbc. 💕💕💕 elliot and olivia want each other. friendship is a good place to start, including working on honesty with each other!
elliot needed to come clean with olivia regarding his love life after his wife died. olivia needs to be honest with elliot as well. there should be no secrets between them if they intend to pursue a romantic future together. i wonder if he knew which "ed" she was referring to? if he knew, damn! mad props to my boy for staying calm, lol! i really don't know what she saw in tucker, but i admit he was cute. 🥺
for the love of all that is Holy, elliot needs all of his adult children to take turns looking after eli whenever elliot has to work. grandma bernie and kathleen cannot and should not be the only ones looking after eli. 😖
it appears elliot is working on creating a bedroom for eli? that is good. eli deserves privacy. 😊
grandpa elliot! aw! it makes me even more sad grandma kathy isn't alive to see her grandchildren grow up. kathleen is named after her mother. that is sweet. 💕
if it was not for that fucking cliffhanger...
i like to believe olivia and noah showed up at elliot's Christmas gathering. 🙌🏽
lawd, i don't wanna wait for the next episode.
