Things I LOVED from NATLA Episode 5 - Spirited Away
Katara creating a water version of the earth disks!
Small moment, but Sokka and Aang don't jump until Katara is there and grabs their hands to lead them off in the jump onto Appa
Love that Momo's the one who picks up the acorn to give to Katara - he's so cute!
Katara calling on Gran Gran's teachings <3
"Seeds for the future, not past mistakes" - bringing back up the themes around needing to let go of past guilt so you can step into the future
Big brother Sokka 😭😭😭😭
Pipenpadalopsikopolis!!!
Zuko is such a sassy dick to Lt. Jee XD but like, kinda deserved atm as a girl with ice is kinda, really, something that should raise some flags.
But damn, Jee's face - it makes the next episode all the more satisfying
"Water the most promising seed" ooooohhhhh
"Not self-serving flattery and coy whipers" oooohhh BBUUUURRRNNNNNN
Though it burns all the more as we know that children want the approval of their mentors/parents and it's unlikely Azula has ever gotten that organically, so she feels the need to prompt it.
tHiN pLaCeS????? Sorry, Bruce from Dungeons of Drakkenheim has just primed me to fear that phrase and what it will bring.
Jumpscare where I really thought Sokka had just been yoinked into the Spirit World by that tree branch XD
Aang and Sokka bickering because Sokka can't stop talking and Aang is trying to concentrate - love the group dynamic here
Sokka's little "sshhhhhhh" in the back
Katara practicing her forms!!!
Blue Aang!!
Sokka being absolutely not here for a Spirit World journey and Katara quickly accepting it and just enjoying the ride
"When have I ever caused trouble?" 🙄 "When indeed." 😐
The most AWKWARD and NOT SLICK questioning by Zuko 😩 failing to smoothly slide the money pouch over the counter, just…he's SOOO BAD at being 'nonchalant'! He wants to just scream at you and demand you obey his orders, damn it!!!
Just Dallas' whole performance here - so fucking funny
Pirate mention! Canyon guide!! Stopped the volcano from erupting!!!
All those side quests get nice little mentions <3
Iroh's little run as he chases after Zuko throwing his tantrum 😭
JUUUUUUNNNNEEEEEEE!!!!! NYYYYYLLAAAAA!!!!!!!!!
Omg perfect. So perfect. Perfection. Gorgeously perfect. Did I mention perfect?
Zuko and Iroh's little slap fight XD
June noticing Iroh is cute 🙌
And Zuko's disgust at that 😂
Love Aang always mentioning Gyatzo and all he taught Aang - and Katara really wanting to soak in the knowledge
I like that they brought the entire Gaang into the spirit world here so we could have a natural in-road to deep character work
WON SHI TOOOOONNNNNNNNNGGGG!!!
Nice birdie!!!!
Also great touch with only Aang being able to understand him here, humans just can't
Pretty eye shot!!
Azula's blue fire!!!!!
Really like the choice to let us see her progression to the blue flame - more character development is always a good thing in my book
"Everyone knows you're perfect" "That's not good enough" - smash cut to Zuko
SOOOOO GOOOODDD - seeding her fear that if she doesn't prove herself adequately, her father will treat her like he did Zuko
Showing not telling, people! This is what that means!!!
Zuzu!! Being disgusted - love it
Love Iroh trying to seed his lessons in with pai sho anecdotes
I'm sorry, this scene is hilarious and I cannot unsee it being Iroh trying to prep Zuko for the news that he and June are a thing XD "I know it's unexpected, and she's much younger, but open up your mind to new ideas! There's much you (I) can learn from a dommy mommy."
Again, reinforcing that Zuko has a strong sense of right and wrong - right now, that's leading him down the path of following the Fire Nation's rules, but that very same integrity will be what makes him change sides
Ugh, Iroh's lessons wrapped in pai sho terminology are soooo gooooddd
Creeeeeepy spirit world!!
HEEEIIIII BBAAAIIIII!!!
Who's a cutie patootie panda bear?? YOU ARE!!!!
Oh no, Sokka!!! He went flying.
Suspicious 3-tailed fox!
Her talk about pain right here is so poignant not only for this storyline, but the future one with the ocean spirit
"Do you always make jokes when you don't want to talk about something?" - cutting right to the heart of a lot of Sokka's humor as a coping mechanism
Just… everything with Katara's spirit vision
Her getting to see her mom again and hug her, the women joking around about braiding and Kya encouraging Katara with her waterbending
The absolute gut-wrenching horror as Katara knows what's about to happen, the viewer knows what's about to happen, but the helplessness you feel as you have to watch it play out
Katara trying to save her mom but not being strong enough - it's so well done and we see why the trauma is so very deep when it comes to her and waterbending
Omg Koh's introduction was sooooo terrifying
The sounds, the way he senses despair - it's everything I love about the spirit world
Hakoda!!! DX
Bato!!!!!
I like how we're getting to see that Sokka's feelings of inadequacy as a leader and warrior aren't unfounded - he DID struggle, it didn’t come naturally
I don't blame Hakoda in this moment - he knows the war is coming and he's going to have to leave Sokka in charge - he knows it's not fair - he knows it's an impossible situation, and he's desperately trying to exert some control over the uncontrollable
It makes sense that he'd want Sokka to be magically perfect, that way he could feel marginally better about abandoning him and the village - it's not like he has a choice to stay, everyone is in impossible situations and wishing your kid could be the perfect leader when you know it's going to be forced on them anyways is totally rational
Love that Aang immediately clocks the vision as not real
Despite wanting nothing more than to go see his home and people again, he's a master of the spiritual side of his nature - he knows how to rein it in.
It hurts all the more when we get to Gyatzo and there's the initial distrust - completely founded
Koh's lair!!!
Creepy centipede boiii
Love their chat and I like to think that Aang's past lives subtly let him know not to show emotions with Koh
The whole situation around Koh's face that opens and closes - thanks, I hate it.
It's well done. And I hate it. Please get it away from me. I do not like. Please, kill it with fire. Thank you.
But Gyatzo!!! He waited for Aang for 100 years!!!!!!!!!
I'm gonna say it again - everything with Gyatzo is pure gold. I'm so glad they expanded more with him being Aang's first mentor, even after his death
Gyatzo trying to relieve Aang of his guilt over not being there for the fire nation attack ): It's something Aang really needed to hear and I'm glad it was someone who was present who told him that, not someone just trying to make him not feel as sad.
Aang leaving Appa and Momo in charge of watching over Katara and Sokka!!! So sweet
Gyatzo's monologue is great - how sometimes it feels like we'll always be alone, the only thing keeping you company is your own pain
It ties into every single character of the series and it's such a great through line - they're all suffering in different ways. They NEED people (even Azula)

A comparative study of dating dudes vs. chicks
Steddie | T | ~11.3k | AO3 link | now complete!
Featuring: Misunderstandings, Fake/Pretend Relationship (but not really), Mutual Pining, First Dates, Getting Together, Light Angst, Tooth-Rotting Fluff, Humor, Confessions, First Kiss, Friends to Lovers, Boys Kissing, Dorks In Love, Happy Ending
Eddie takes Steve on a date. For research, of course; or at least that's what he assumes from the start. He's just satisfying his straight friend's strange curiosity about gay dating, nothing more. The only problem is, Eddie's never been on an actual date in his life. And the guy he's taking is someone he's been pining after for months.
And yet now he thinks about today, about picking up the guy who’ll probably be wearing a polo shirt with a pristinely pressed collar, and having holes in his own shirt suddenly makes him feel even more inadequate than he did all week.
***
Eddie stares at his reflection in the mirror, spots a hole at the side of his T-shirt, groans and pulls it off over his head, throwing it in a corner with such a force as if the shirt has personally offended him. This is the third time he's changed shirts in ten minutes. It’s so fucking stupid; he's never cared about that sort of thing before. He didn't have much stuff, and he got used to wearing his shirts until they were threadbare; but it never bothered him, it felt like part of his whole metal, anarchical look. Why buy new stuff, when the old is still perfectly usable? Fuck consumer culture, giving money to companies who keep trying to convince you you absolutely need new things all the time.
Subconsciously, Eddie knows it’s not about the shirt. It’s a little too late to be thinking first impressions when someone’s seen you at your worst, with holes not just in your clothes but in your actual body. Covered in blood, your own as well as multiple otherworldly creatures’, and several days old grime, and some disgusting contents of your stomach that couldn’t handle the agonizing pain. Probably smelling like a fucking landfill site, too.
So yeah, really, it’s not about the state of his shirts. He’s just so out of his depth he’s spiraling. That’s why everything feels wrong, even his own clothes.
He never should have agreed to this. But what was he supposed to do, when Steve Harrington batted his pretty long lashes at him and suggested Eddie took him out?
***
It really was Eddie’s own fault. After listening to both his friends for several minutes - Robin gushing about how she and Vickie finally kissed, Steve about some girl he went out with, who was nice but they haven’t really clicked, apparently - when they asked him how his own weekend went, the devil on his shoulder prompted him to blurt out, “Actually, I was on a date too.” Was it jealously? Trying to belong? A stupid hope for some reaction from Steve? Who the fuck knows.
After guiltily coming up with some bullshit to answer Robin’s excited questions - yeah it was fine, yeah they did kiss, no they didn’t know the guy (at least he didn’t have to lie about that part and invent a girl; it was still a bit surreal, having friends he could be open with in that way) - a customer came in, and Robin, having lost a silent game of rock-paper-scissors with Steve, headed over to help him look for a movie. Eddie was left alone with Steve, who’d just been silently looking at him until that moment, an unreadable expression on his face.
“So, like… You didn’t really say, what did you guys do? Where did you go for your date?” Steve asked, leaning forward on his elbows against the counter, something like genuine curiosity in his voice.
“Uhm.” Eddie blinked, eyes darting around the store for something, anything, like an idea. With all of his dungeon master improv storytelling experience, his mind was suddenly blank.
Steve, thankfully, interpreted his silence in his own way.
“Shit. Sorry, dude, like, I didn’t mean to pry. I guess I’m just…” He rubbed the back of his neck, shrugging sheepishly. “I don’t know, just wondering. If it’s any different. From going on a date with a girl, I mean.”
Good question, Steve. Wish I knew, because I’ve never actually been on a date, and it’s kind of pathetic, which, in hindsight, is probably why I lied to you guys.
Thankfully, Steve’s last sentence gave him another bullshit excuse idea. He quickly compensated his inner turmoil with a huge grin.
“Well, I wouldn’t know the difference, Stevie. Never romanced a lady myself,” he said, pressing a head to his chest.
Steve laughed, a little awkwardly.
“Right. Good point. Sorry.”
Despite still grinning on the outside, Eddie felt terrible. As if it weren’t enough, the guilt of lying to his friends, now he was making fun of Steve for asking a genuine question. Something he should be fucking grateful for. He was very aware of the fact that few straight guys in this world would be such close friends with a dude they knew was gay, much less try and engage in an earnest conversation about the queer part of his life.
But what else was he supposed to say? Admit that his dating life was actually a fucking joke? So of course he hid behind the familiar shield of humor and teasing.
“You’re the one with some background for comparison, though.” Eddie tilts his head, tongue peeking through the teeth in his playful grin. “Maybe you should get a guy to ask you out. For research, you know. Write a paper about it someday. A comparative study of dating dudes vs. chicks, by Steven Harrington, PhD.”
Steve laughed at that, his cheeks suddenly tinted a pretty pink. And then, he looked up and all but stopped Eddie’s heart with his response.
“Huh. Yeah, maybe I should.”
Eddie must have been silently gaping at him for way too long, his brain struggling to process the words, because Steve hurried to add with a teasing smile, “For research, of course.”
“Of course,” Eddie replied dumbly.
“Lucky for me,” Steve continued, dropping his gaze down to the store keys he was fiddling with, “I actually know a certain someone who dates guys. Unless, I mean, he’s committed to seeing the mystery man from this weekend.”
Right. Super committed to dating an imaginary dude. Eddie dropped his head, trying hard not to laugh at the absurdity of it all. When he finally looked up, Steve was still looking at him expectantly, getting visibly nervous by the minute, like he was worried he crossed a line in their friendship, or something.
“Just to clarify, Steve,” Eddie spoke, trying his best to sound casual. “You’re suggesting that I should take you out.”
Steve looked down for a moment, biting his lip, then back up to Eddie.
“Yup. You should.”
“On a… date.”
“Uh-huh.”
“For research.”
“Uh.” Steve looked taken aback for a moment, but then, he chuckled. “Right, for research. It’s not like they make movies about that sort of thing. How else am I supposed to write my paper?” He grinned.
Eddie regarded him for another moment. It was a terrible idea. It was bad enough he was having more and more trouble keeping a proper distance from Steve, never letting his occasional flirting falter outside the somewhat acceptable appearance of friendly teasing. His brain screamed at him to shut this whole insane plan down, but his heart was screaming louder.
Actually getting to experience a date? With Steve, of all the guys? Even if it wasn’t the real deal? Yeah, there’s no way he could turn that down.
“You’re a really weird dude, Steve Harrington.” Eddie shook his head, a resigned sigh escaping his lips. “Pick you up next Saturday? Around, say, three o’clock?”
“A daytime date?” Steve raised his eyebrows, and Eddie panicked for a moment. Had he fucked up already? Did people only do dates in the evenings?
But Steve smiled and added, “Cool. I’m excited for whatever you’ve got planned.”
“Get ready to get your mind blown, Harrington!” Eddie called out, backing towards the door in a way he hoped didn’t look like running away.

Wrong On The Money (40)
part 40 of ?? | 1108 words | Teen+
Blackmail fic on Ao3 | on tumblr
Summary:
When Steve gets back from dropping off the kids, Eddie is waiting for him on the front porch.
40.
When Steve gets back from dropping off the kids, Eddie is waiting for him on the front porch.
No, not waiting for him. He happens to be there, smoking with the porch light off, sprawled on the near end of the couch he and Wayne had salvaged from their trailer. His has his socked feet propped up on the bottom rung of the porch railing. but he gives a little wave as Steve walks up and drops them, an invitation to pass by and sit if he wants.
“So, how was your first foray into Dungeons & Dragons?” Eddie asks. He booms the name of the game in a low, dramatic voice that makes Steve have to smother a laugh.
“Oh, uh,” Steve says a few beats too late, remembering that he’s supposed to answer. “Yeah, it was . . . kinda confusing? But also, uh, interesting.”
Eddie spins slowly to look at him, eyebrows reaching up towards his bangs. “Confusing . . . yet interesting. That’s some complex feedback, Harrington. Care to elaborate?”
“I don’t. . . .” Steve frowns. He feels like Eddie is making fun of him, big dumb jock who couldn’t get into college—except that doesn’t make sense coming from a three-times high school senior.
But also, Steve isn’t sure what elaborate means. Is it like explain?
He’s just going to try and blow past it. First step: slumping onto the empty end of the couch and putting up a hand, palm up. Second step: “Whatever. Can I bum one? I’ll pay you back.”
Eddie tsks around his cigarette. “What did we decide about owing, dude?” He knocks a stick out of a beat-up pack into Steve’s hand though, and offers his lighter. “I’ve got weed, too, if you’d rather have some of that. No charge. Because,” he continues before Steve can get a word in edgeways, “it’s more practical this way. You make lunch, I share smokes. . . . The barter system is a hell of a lot simpler than quantifying every little thing into cold hard currency.”
“Oh.” That does sound simpler. Steve blinks, takes the lighter, then hesitates. “I . . . kinda would, then. Long day, you know?”
Just like that, the cigarette and lighter are whisked away again. Eddie thumps his feet down onto the porch and leans forward, a tin in one hand now and rolling papers in the other. “Cool. You mind sharing? Don’t think there’s enough in here to roll two.”
“S-sure.” Luckily it’s dark enough to hide whatever Steve’s face is doing—he knows it’s something, probably something embarrassing. And now he’s watching and thinking way too much about Eddie’s lips, the way they purse around the last of his cigarette while he rolls the joint. The joint that he’ll touch to those same lips, then hand to Steve to do the same.
Jesus, he’d never had this problem while smoking with Tommy. Or smoking with pretty girls, for that matter, but that was different. He could’ve kissed those girls anywhere. With Eddie, he can only let himself look for rationed amounts of time, not wanting to be too obvious or get too . . . invested. Steve knows himself, knows he has a tendency to go all way too fast, and doesn’t have a good sense of where that line is.
Maybe he shouldn’t be doing this, actually. Getting high with Eddie could be a bad idea, put him too far out there and offering too much of himself like he always does.
It’s already happening though.
When the joint is ready, instead of handing it to him, Eddie glances up and cocks his head to one side.
“Hey, you’ve got. . . .” He reaches, and just as Steve is about ready to demand if there’s a bug on him or something, Eddie pulls the joint out of his ear. “Tada!”
Surprised, Steve laughs and takes the joint when Eddie offers it to him with a flourish. “How did you do that?” (Again, he thanks the darkness for hiding the fact that both of his ears are now burning.)
“Picked up some sleight of hand as a kid,” Eddie says with a grin and a shrug, holding up his lighter but this time flicking it on for Steve to lean towards the flame. “For legal reasons I have to tell you that I wanted to be a magician when I grew up. Got a little more into that side of it after I moved in with Wayne, but only as a hobby. Now it's just something to entertain the kiddies with when I’m old and gray.”
It’s not just the lungful of smoke that’s making Steve feel warm on the inside, though that helps. Hanging out with Eddie, talking like they’re actually friends, feels. . . .
It feels nice.
A while later, when the high’s had time to settle in, Eddie asks, “You did have a good time, though, right?”
Steve blinks at him. His eyes have had plenty of time to adjust to the dark, and he can actually see Eddie pretty well, he thinks. The long line of his neck and the faintly gleaming shapes of his rings for sure. “Yeah. It was. . . . Well, too nerdy to be cool. But I had more fun than I expected to.”
“Good.” Eddie stretches, and Steve doesn’t even notice his own head lolling to better follow the motion. “‘Specially since you did it for Will. I’m glad you got something out of it for yourself, too.”
The words make his head snap up. “Uh. Will?”
With a shrug, Eddie explains that oh yeah, kid’d walked in shy as hell and Steve had done nothing but build his confidence up all afternoon. Like it’s nothing, like it doesn’t completely floor Steve that he’d noticed. Why would Eddie notice? That was quick, adding Will to his collection of ‘sheepies’ already.
Not that Steve is one to talk. He’d come out as bisexual to the kid not twelve hours ago, and that was something he’d only ever said out loud to Robin before.
But Eddie is smiling at him, and that warm feeling is back, only it’s bigger now. Thick and syrupy and welling up and up and up, like the panic when he’d found Dustin cradling Eddie in the Upside Down only good, and. . . .Oh. He recognizes this feeling from the weeks before he’d first kissed Nancy, not quite in love yet but hopeful, always thinking maybe. Out of self preservation, he hasn’t let himself do that this time. He’d tried to clamp down on it hard, as though if he could starve it of oxygen the embers would die out—forgetting that love isn’t a fire, it’s a battlefield, and Eddie has been sneaking up behind him this entire time.

ARE YOU SATISFIED, SHAN???
Tumblr media
Current favorite character: This question is hard. It's probably Minato from Minato's Laundromat because I get him. Also probably Segasaki from My Personal Weatherman.
Current WIP: I have been kicking around a post on how I introduced my friend Emily to BL and turned her into a regular viewer as a guide for some of the new folks. It's super short, but it feels like I'm missing something.
Tagging @shortpplfedup just because I know she's busy, @ginnymoonbeam because she's always secretly watching something and I'm curious, and @warningtothecurious just because I still see you around and want to wave.

I Promise Always (11)
Robin was worried sick. Y/N had been missing for 2 days now. She stared at the phone in the video store while stocking the shelves. She kept dropping everything she tried putting away so she eventually went behind the counter. Dustin was on the floor doing some kind of homework that was beyond her comprehension.
Steve started to stock what Robin dropped and sighed,"What do you think happening?"
"Isn't it weird that Eddie also disappears every time y/n does something?" Dustin called from the floor.
Robin looked back at Dustin's hair full of curls and her mouth made a singular O shape.
"She's not like that Dustin. She hardly looks at Eddie anyway."
"Bullshit," Robin retorts," She looks at him a lot."
"Eddie's always looking at her. " Dustin leans his head back and looks at Robin trying to fill in the blanks.
"Has anyone called?" Steve sounded reasonable though he was worried too.
"I forgot to get her number..." Robin murmurs sheepishly.
Steve flicks her forehead gently," You got my number and Dustin's. Even...." His fingers are quick as he picks up the desk phone and dials some numbers gently.
Robin and Dustin look at him confused.
"Hello Mr. Munson, Is Eddie avail- No. No. there's nothing wrong I was just wondering if he's Okay? Right. Okay, I'll let him know when I see him."
Robin and Dustin both straighten up trying to hear the other side of the phone.
"He's not at home," Steve says gently hanging the phone up and looking at his friends.
"That settles that." Dustin closes his book and gets up from the floor. He randomly starts shoving things in his bag.
"What are you doing?" Steve asks to cross his arms instinctively.
"Im going to go get Mike and Lucas and we're going to search for Eddie. We have a D&D session c coming up and I'm getting sick of our Dungeon Master Going missing." Dustin set his face in a hard line like he was angry.
"Can't you wait?" Robin asks quietly thinking perhaps that she should have Steve drive her to Y/N place.
"Nope. But I will Check Y/N place." Dustin reasoned and Steve put both hands on his shoulders.
"Do you know how to check on a girl?" Steve sounds so sincere.
"Dude I've kept a Girlfriend longer than you." Dustin hisses and pushes out the door.
"He does have-" Robin is smiling
"Do not Finish that sentence, Buckley." Steve interrupts and they both watch Dustin wheel away.
***
Eddie was sitting asleep against her bedroom wall. He had woken up late in the night to find her sleeping on his chest and he couldn't help but think of the last letter he had stowed away. He laid they're trying to imagine the hurt of her rejection when she woke up, but all he could think about was kissing her and holding her. That's when he got a boner, crawled out of bed, and sat on the wall looking at her as she slept. She'd murmured his name occasionally or Japanese he didn't understand.
So when sunlight streamed into the window and her dad came in to check on her and found him on the floor looking at his letter he smiled.
"She's not up?" he asked taking a seat beside him.
"No... That normal?" he asked tucking the letter into his jacket again. Not sure why he couldn't just read it.
"Sometimes it takes two days for her body to catch up and fully relax. " Her father reasoned offering Eddie a glass of bourbon.
This seemed like an honor taking a bourbon with her dad felt like he was the patient boyfriend. Eddie was confused but he still took it and sipped carefully watching her.
"You sell weed?" Her father asked nonchalantly like he knew.
"Don't tell Wayne please." He sputtered," I promise I won't let her near any of that." Eddie was suddenly feeling less worthy of the glass of bourbon in his hands
"Long as you don't tell her I smoke it, and you never let her touch it." There was a collected smile on his face,"you're the perfect guy for her."
"How do you know that?" Eddie's eyes grew wide and he took another slow swig of bourbon.
"I assume you read the letters? "
"Guilty as charged." Eddie swallowed hard.
"Then you know the last person she trusted died taking her to the hospital. He was in full drag, some assholes followed him from the hospital and beat him to death." Her father breathed setting his glass on top of his knee carefully.
"So she wouldn't tell anybody after that. She's scared. I get it but I don't get what that has to do with me being her perfect match." Eddie whispered looking at the bourbon as it swirled in his hands.
"Because you know what it's like not to trust people. You know what cruelty happens and you'd knock heads around if you had to keep her safe." Her dad chuckled
Eddie stared for a second at her father. He was the opposite of Wayne he was lean and muscular and he had resources Eddie didn't
"I don't have money like you do." Eddie reasoned softly," she deserves flowers and jewelry...."
" She doesn't want that. She wants someone to count on. Someone who isn't afraid of doing what's right when things go wrong. " Her father smiled as he finished his bourbon. "I believe you can do that."
The doorbell rang and her father got up ruffling Eddie's hair as he went.
A few quiet minutes passed as Eddie looked at the glass of bourbon and the ice cube. Then he heard a side sound and downed the rest of it in one gulp.
Dustin and Will walked into her doorway and Eddie stood quickly shuffling them out the door before they could really look.
"You idiots. What are you doing here? "Eddie pushed the door of her room closed and stood in the hall with the two boys half terrified they had seen her hooked up to the big printer.
" Im gunna radio Lucas and Mike. " Will smiled and went toward the stairs.
Eddie grabbed the boy and his walkie-talkie and pulled them in front of him.
"Neither of you is doing anything." Eddie's voice was harsh, and both the younger boys looked at him confused.
"Are you afraid we're gonna tell someone you got la-" Eddie popped the side of Dustin's head lightly.
"I am not getting laid you, weirdo." Eddie hissed.
"What are you doing here then?" Will asked the most potent question.
Eddie wanted to just scream but he also didn't want to wake or disturb the household so he hung his head and then looked up the two boys who seemed eager for his answer.
" I am just checking on her. "
Dustin scoffed," you are wearing the same clothes you wore 2 days ago. I'm not stupid."
Eddie wanted to throttle the kid but instead, he grimaced and shook his head." No, you're not. She ended up at my house and got a cold so I brought her home and figured I should explain how she ended up at home. "
" uh-Huh. " Dustin crossed his arms looking at him like he could just smell the lie
"Steve and Robin are looking for you guys. " Will stated calmly holding out the walkie-talkie
Eddie sighed and took it," You guys are brats."
"Eddie here.-over."
Steves's voice crackled to life on the tiny device.," Your uncle said You need to clean up the dishes in the sink. Where the hell are you and have you seen y/n?"
Eddie looked at the two boys and rolled his eyes," I'm coming to the video store -over"
"BRING DUSTIN AND WILL." Steve's voice was loud enough that he had to cover the incoming receiver.
Eddie looked at the two boys in front of him and asked," What do I need to do to keep you guys quiet?"
Will smiled and Dustin hooked his arm around Will," FINISH THE CAMPAIN." They said in tandom and Eddie nodded defeated.
"Alright. You guys put your stuff in the van I'll be down there in two minutes."

Y/n was laying in silence her eyes slits she could hear the printer but her head hurt. So did her muscles. When she heard the door open she didn't think a thing of it instead she closed her eyes and felt a gentle kiss on her forehead and someone making sure that the covers had her covered up just enough not to make her hot. She could smell the cigarettes but she couldn't place what else was hidden behind the smell. But a thought of Eddie crossed her mind and she smiled. Content to go back to sleep.

Sword Oratoria 13
Tumblr media
Author: Fujino Omori
Illustrator: Kiyotaka Haimura
Label: GA Bunko
Release Date: 14 February 2023
My Score: 5/5
English Release: This series is currently being released in English by Yen-Press under the title of Is it Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon? On the Side: Sword Oratoria.
Usually the Sword Oratoria volume numbers match up with the main series for where they take place in the story but this one does not take place during Danmachi 13. Instead, it takes place during and after the events of Danmachi 18, the latest volume. The war game is mentioned, as is Bell becoming a level 5 adventurer.
After the events of the last SO volume, Lefiya has changed. As you can see on the volume cover (which is lovely), she’s cut her hair, changed her outfit into one that’s easier to move in and resembles Filvis’s outfit, and she’s now weilding Filvis’s sword as well as her staff. She’s also convinced Bete to train her so that she can be more of a magic knight than a mage. Worried about what will happen to her if she continues to try to become Filvis, Loki decides to send Lefiya to the School Grounds to recruit new members for the Familia after they suffered losses from the last battle. Bell is also mentioned to be going up to recruit new members for the Hestia Familia so that will be the plot of Danmachi 19.
The School Grounds is kind of like this air ship that trains people to fight. The ship comes to Orario every 3 years and the familias send one of their members to it to recruit new members. Lefiya herself trained there and was recruited by the Loki Familia three years ago. This volume is split into two timelines: the present in which Lefiya goes to the School Grounds and is asked to help instruct some of the top ranking students, and the past showing why Lefiya left her forest and how she ended up in the Loki Familia.
This is a volume showcasing Lefiya and I love Lefiya so I love this volume. I really liked seeing Lefiya coping with the loss of Filvis and seeing how much she’s grown and how much she has left to grow. There are a few new characters introduced here and they’re all pretty interesting, mostly with how they interact with Lefiya and become perfect foils for her. I think this one kind of suffers because it came out a month after Danmachi 18, which was such an amazing volume that this one doesn’t really live up to. It’s still a great character study for Lefiya though and I really appreciated it for that.
I’ve already got Sword Oratoria 14 and I may read that next. I tried to read Watanare 5 but my brain seems to want to stay in Danmachi land for the moment.

Eddie felt out of place. He had always felt out of place, but it was so much worse walking through the doors of Hawkins High. All of the older kids had already found their friends, and everyone his age still had their friends from middle school. But not him. The only people that talked to him in middle school were, well, still in middle school. And he didn’t know anyone here. He didn’t have any siblings or older friends like everyone else. So, yeah, he felt out of place.
He just barely passed last year, but he swore high school was going to be different. He wasn’t going to skip. He was going to focus. He was going to study. He was going to work harder. He wasn’t going to coast on the line of failure.  So, he found himself sitting in his first period class, listening to all of his classmates talk amongst themselves as he sat somewhere close to the corner, picking at his cuticles while waiting for the morning to start.
Tumblr media
The hallway felt so loud, yet so silent. It, like the classroom, was filled with students talking amongst themselves while Eddie clung to the wall so as to not draw any attention to himself. He noticed a very…happy girl coming towards him. But, who was he kidding, she was probably walking towards one of her friends who just happened to be walking directly behind him.
“Excuse me!” Her voice was cheerful, another thing that Eddie noticed. He just wished that she was not talking to him. “Excuse me! Are you new here?” She waved at Eddie with a bright smile. She was most definitely talking to him.
“Yea,” he caught himself on his word, “Yes.” He didn’t know if she was some stuck-up about manners and how words were said. Better to be safe than sorry, he thought.
“Oh, great! Your face wasn’t that familiar, so I was just wondering. I’m Mary Robinson,” she reached her hand out towards him, “what class do you have next? Oh, and what’s your name? Sorry, I get carried away sometimes.” The entire time she spoke, she held a smile on her face. But, Eddie couldn’t complain. It seemed she was just trying to be nice.
Eddie took her outreached hand for a simple handshake. “M’names Eddie Munson,” he paused to take out a sheet of paper, checking his schedule, “got Mr. Campbell’s class next.” Truthfully, Eddie had no idea where any classroom was. He only found his first period because he overheard a group of kids mention the teacher’s name.
“Do you need help finding his room? It’s no problem for me,” she offered. This very well may have been the sweetest girl in the entirety of Hawkins. Nearly everyone else was walking with someone, and he was practically the only one not. That very clearly meant he should not be spoken to. It meant he was no good.
Eddie contemplated her offer. He had no idea where this class was, but he was also terrified to embarrass himself. However, he remembered his vow. No skipping. “Sure,” he agreed.
“Great! You can follow me.” She motioned at Eddie to follow her, and he did. No skipping. “So, do you have any interests? There’s a lot of good teams and clubs here if you do.”
“Don’t think any school would have a club for what I like to do in my free time.” Eddie worded that very wrong. He realized it as soon as he said it. Stupid as usual, Eddie, he thought.
“Oh, God, you don’t, like, murder people on the side do you?” Her eyes widened as she spoke. Well, she went much darker than Eddie did.
“No, worse, actually. Dungeons & Dragons.” Eddie doesn’t know why he mentioned D&D. He knew she would immediately be repulsed and leave him to find Mr. Campbell’s room by himself.
But, then, he heard a giggle. Her giggle. She wasn’t leaving him to fend for himself in the jungle that is Hawkins High School. She found him funny. “Well, you might be surprised to find out we do have a club for that. ‘S called Hellfire. The,” Mary paused for a moment, “Dungeon Master is really nice. You should check it out!”
Eddie was in pure shock. A school like Hawkins High? Have a Dungeons and Dragons club? It just sounded too good to be true. “I’ll check it out sometime.” However, he wasn’t going to hurt this girl’s feelings. She seemed genuine.
“Great! I’ll tell Kim!” She pointed to an open door already filled with students with more filing in as they stood. “Here’s Mr. Campbell’s class. All the other 9th grade classrooms are in the area, so you should be good for today and tomorrow. Bye, Eddie!” She waved at him before turning around to go wherever she needed.
“Thanks for the help! Bye, Mary,” Eddie mirrored Mary’s final words before turning on her heels.
Mary turned back on her heels, now walking backwards. “No problem!” And she went back to walking normally. And Eddie went to class. No skipping.
Tumblr media
By lunch, Eddie had still only spoken to Mary. Truthfully, he was terrified to speak to anyone else. What if he said the wrong thing? What if he comes on too strong? What if he comes on too soft? What if they just don’t like him? And, normally, Eddie wouldn’t care about such a thing as whether people liked him, but, for some strange reason, he wanted to be liked.
So, Eddie found himself sitting in one of the boy’s restroom stalls, eating away at his stale bread peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Wayne had apologized profusely for not being able to afford a new loaf of bread this week, but Eddie didn’t care. Wayne tried his hardest to support Eddie. He always did, even though he didn’t know he was going to end up with a 10 year old so suddenly. But that’s what mattered to Eddie. Wayne loved him. And this peanut butter and jelly sandwich was made with stale bread, peanut butter, jelly, and, most importantly, love, as cheesy as it sounds.
However, the bathroom was loud. Very loud. Groups of teenage boys coming in all through lunch just to fuck around and mess up the entire bathroom. Poor janitors, Eddie thought.
“Knock, Knock! Who’s in there,” one of the many boys banged harshly on the stall door. The door lock rattled from the force, and Eddie wondered just how strong these jocks, he assumed, could be.
“Probably some lame ass freshman with no friends eating all alone,” another voice jeered. That’s exactly what Eddie was. Some lame ass freshman with no friends, eating all alone. These guys must have some good intuition, Eddie thought.
“Or some guy taking a massive shit.” The group erupted into laughter at this. Maybe they didn’t have good intuition.
Eddie didn’t dignify them with a response. He may not have been smart, but he definitely wasn’t dumb.
“What? Cat got your tongue in there,” the original voice spoke again. Eddie simply rolled his eyes and continued to eat his peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
After a few minutes of simply goofing about, the group eventually left and Eddie eventually finished his sandwich. Although, he waited just a few more minutes in case they were waiting outside before leaving.
Tumblr media
By the time his first day was officially over, he thought about stopping by the Hellfire room, since he was told they were having some beginning of the year meeting. Maybe he should just talk to the leader some other day instead of barging in on their meeting. Mary told him this meeting was where anyone interested in joining could visit, but he would still feel like an intruder, so he simply walked out of the school doors, and made his way home.
As he turned the corner, he noticed a yellow car slow next to him. "D'you need a ride, Eddie? Looks like it might rain, and it wouldn't be good to get sick right after the first day, right?" Mary leaned her head out of her car with a bright smile. Truth be told, he didn't want anyone to find out he lived in the trailer park. He was perfectly content living there, but he was scared that if anyone found out he'd be tortured for the rest of his school days.
"No, I'm good. Thanks for asking, though," he smiled back at Mary as he spoke.
"Are you sure? It's no big deal if do want a ride, but I won't press on it." As the last word left her mouth, Eddie felt rain fall onto his head. Knowing Hawkins, it was only a matter of minutes before Eddie, his clothes, and his books were all soaked. Having one person know where he lived wouldn't be that bad, right? And Mary seemed like she wouldn't tell anyone. "Well?"
"On second thought, it wouldn't hurt." Eddie watched as Mary unlocked the passenger door of her car.
"Alright, get in," she let out a small laugh as she spoke. Eddie walked over to the passenger door with haste, opening the door and practically jumping in the car before he could get anymore rain on him or in Mary's car. "Thank you for choosing Mary's Taxi Services! Where are you headed," she asked, putting on a fake New York accent.
Eddie paused before he spoke. He was already in the car, and it gave no use to lie. "You know the Forest Hills Trailer Park," he asked. He noticed Mary's eyes light up as he mentioned the trailer park.
"Know it?" She chuckled. "I live there too." Eddie certainly was not expecting that, but it definitely gave him some relief. He never would have thought Mary lived where he lived. Her clothes looked nice and her hair was neat. "You look shocked. What? No other kid in Hawkins can live there except you?" She poked him for emphasis.
"No! No, it's just that, just that you look really nice. Like your clothes and hair," he tried to defend himself quickly. He fiddled with his nails after he spoke, nervous as to how he might have upset her.
"Just messing with you, Eddie. The clothes used to be my older sister's and, truthfully, I just use water for my hair." She smiled as she ruffled Eddie's hair.
Shortly after that, Mary turned into the trailer park, letting Eddie out just before the first trailer. Eddie walked up to his front door, taking out his keys to open the door.
Tumblr media
Wayne was sitting on the couch with tea in his favorite mug when Eddie opened the door. He was already dressed for work, which he would be leaving for in the next couple of hours. Eddie hated being alone at night, but it’s not even a small price for the bills being paid. And Eddie needed to get a job soon anyways.
“How was the first day, kid,” Wayne asked. Wayne cared, even if he didn’t know that much about Eddie and what all he liked. He knew Eddie was a sweet kid and he knew he cared for Eddie like he was his own child, that’s about it.
“Fine, didn’t have much trouble finding my classes,” Eddie answered. He let his accent run a little loose at home. His wasn’t as thick as Wayne’s or his dad’s, but he had picked up a slight twang in certain words. But, he did try his best to mask it at school, and he didn’t quite know why. As much as he tried, though, the accent did come out when he got excited.
“Congratulations on the first day of high school, kid. Practically all grown up now.” Wayne was happy to see Eddie blossom into the young man he had become over the years. It seemed like just yesterday he was looking into Eddie’s big baby eyes wondering how in the hell his very immature, 17 year old brother was going to take care of this fragile baby. Now, he could see his wonders were very much valid, but that baby was very much not fragile.
Just as any normal day, Wayne left for the plant just around 5:30, leaving Eddie on his own for dinner. So, Eddie made his way to the kitchen, reaching for a simple microwavable dinner to fix. Eddie hated cooking with all of his heart. He was sure he would blow up the entire trailer park if he were to cook without supervision.
As the microwave buzzed, Eddie made his way to his room, pushing his Sad Wings of Destiny tape into his radio, blasting it to the point where the entirety of Hawkins must be able to hear. But, Eddie didn’t care. The music drowned out the silence, and the beeping microwave, which Eddie forgot about very quickly.
He all but ran into the kitchen hoping that his dinner wasn’t already cold, and thank goodness he hadn’t forgotten for long. So, he brought his dinner to the couch, chomping away at the heaven that was artificial macaroni and cheese. All alone.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon -10-
Tumblr media
You can't put a premium on this adventure.
Tumblr media
With the completion of the main story, I have now unlocked two options: New Game + and Premium Adventure. New Game + allows me to start the adventure over while keeping my progress for most combat-related achievements, like levels. I can also start a new game or new game + on a higher difficulty, which apparently greatly boosts my battle rewards. I've never been a huge fan of New Game + in a video game... IDK why. It's not something that's ever appealed to me, and I'm especially not sure why I'd want to do it for a game that doesn't offer me much choice to begin with. But perhaps I'll regret my decision when it comes time to do the grind.
Tumblr media
Premium Adventure, on the other hand, is essentially an "endless play" mode. The game dumps me back into the game world in the exact state I was right before the credits started rolling, and I can do pretty much anything I want. Upon loading my Premium Adventure save, I get notified that I have unlocked the "Final Millennium Tower", which is apparently a post-game dungeon of sorts. The trophy list indicates that there is also a "True Millennium Tower", whatever that is.
Tumblr media
Speaking of trophies, this is essentially what I am going to use Premium Adventure for: trophy hunting! I feel pretty confident that I can get the Platinum Trophy in this game, so I decide to start hunting ASAP. The first thing I do is get a trophy that I could have easily gotten earlier in the game: a trophy for changing Kasuga into eight different jobs. Oops.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next trophy I go for is the Sheep Sheep Slapper trophy. This requires that I complete all of the Seagull Cinema movies without falling asleep. Going to the movies with a party member gives you and them bond points, so I take this opportunity to grind out Joon-gi and Zhao. The actual minigame itself isn't too hard -- the only movie I "failed" was the very last one, but I was able to get through it on my second try. With an S rank! (it wasn't displayed on the trophy screenshot, but trust me -- I got it)
Tumblr media
With Joon-gi now at max bond level, I decide to view his final Drink Link. I go to Survive only to find that he's not here... The bartender informs Ichi that Joon-gi got a phone call and hustled out of the bar. Suspicious! Ichi assumes Joon-gi must have gotten a call from the Jingweon mafia and rushes after him.
Tumblr media
Of course, Joon-gi knows Ichiban is following him -- and he's glad, because he actually would like for Ichiban to give him some back up. The two head to a strip club on the other side of town, where the Jingweon mafia appear. Being the haters they are, they spew haterade at Joon-gi for impersonating their late boss. Angered, they decide to give Joon-gi a piece of their mind.
Tumblr media
But given that Joon-gi is about 40 levels ahead of the Jingweon, I'd say they picked the wrong person to mess with.
Tumblr media
After whooping their asses, Joon-gi explains to the Jingweon why he continues to serve as the boss' body double: he wants what remains of the Jingweon to come to Ijincho so they fight the person impersonating their leader. Then, the Geomijul can take this opportunity to provide them shelter and acceptance into their family. Touched by altruism, the Jingweon mafia members shake hands, and Joon-gi's Drink Link ends.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, my husband is having a dilemma: Mabuchi is back in Ijincho, and Seong-hui is surely going to kill him if she finds him. Zhao relays to Ichiban that he wants to help Mabuchi escape from Ijincho and away from the Geomijul. Mabuchi might be a dick, but he's still like a brother to Zhao.
Tumblr media
While speaking to the others in the bar, I got the offer to grab drinks with Saeko. Thinking nothing of it, I accepted, which led to a very interesting scene.
Tumblr media
While talking over drinks, Saeko discusses Ichiban's love life. She questions if he's ever though about finding a girlfriend, to which he replies that it would be nice, though he's unsure if he'd ever find a girl that could love an ex-felon. Saeko forgoes all pretenses and makes it very clear that she really, really wants to fuck Ichiban. And Ichiban, as dense as ever, questions why Saeko doesn't have a boyfriend yet.
Tumblr media
Ichiban heads upstairs to take a nap. While sleeping, he is visited by Saeko, who dotes over him then proceeds to give him a big kiss -- which wakes Ichiban up. Saeko expresses confusion when Ichiban asks about the kiss, leading him to think it was all just a dream. The lipstick mark on his cheek says otherwise. Very... interesting.
Tumblr media
In any case, the other big task is to play a few rounds of Dragon Kart. This is a minigame I neglected pretty early on, so hopefully I can pick it back up pretty quickly.
Tumblr media
Now that we're sitting on a cool 12.7m yen, I decide to just go balls out with the upgrades and get all 3 cars up to max. Cause why not?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the most part, the tournaments aren't too difficult. In each cup, you are effectively racing against one of the three rivals introduced earlier in the story who I completely forgot about until now. But it never feels like you're truly competing against them. With my maxed out carts, I pretty consistently was getting 4-5 second leads over them and never dipped below 1st place once. The real issue I had was the controls. Maybe Mario Kart spoiled me (okay, it definitely spoiled me...) but I found the controls extremely stiff and unresponsive. But once I got used to them, the minigame became pretty easy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The real challenge comes after completing 3 of the 4 tournaments. To unlock the final Dragon Cup, we need to defeat all of the rivals in head-to-head races. Each race takes place on a different track, with the added gimmick of there being a heavy fog effect on every track. This was really more of a test of how well I memorized each track, and I think I memorized them pretty well. I defeated each rival on my first try. Defeating the rivals unlocks new vehicles, which you have to purchase and upgrade. In total, I spent millions of yen purchasing and upgrading the vehicles. Ouch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Defeating the Data Drifter leads to a very funny interaction between him and Akira, where the latter calls the former a virgin. The Data Drifter then complains to the Dragon Kart organizer about being a virgin... Bro, wtf is this interaction lmao.
Tumblr media
This interaction does unlock the next rival race, however -- against Akira. The race against Akira is definitely a little more tense. It's still a fog-covered course, but Akira actually kept pace with my fully-upgraded vehicle for most of the race. He never overtook me, but it was still too close for my comfort.
Tumblr media
Completing Akira's rival race seemingly unlocks another rival race, however. Just how many more rivals are there? This guy's manner of speaking makes me think he'll be the final one before we unlock the Dragon Cup, so that's what we'll have to do, I guess...

Welcome to the Familia, Ticketholders!

This is how everything in my life changed. I'm reminding you of how it all started because I'm going to be visiting new universes and I thought I would remind you of how everything started.
I've pretty much changed everything in the RWBY and Dragonriders of Pern universes, so I'm going to start visiting the Monster Musume and DanMachi or Is it Wrong to Try to Pick up Girls in a Dungeon, universes.
I will be going back to the RWBY and Pern Universes from time to time. I still have a few more things to do. But with more time on my hands, I'm going to visit different Universes.
Prologue/Authers Notes:
This is what I would like to change ‘if’ I could go to Pern, from “The Dragonriders of Pern” series by Ann McCaffery, and The RWBY Universe, by Rooster Teeth. This is the daydreams of, 'if’, I was able to travel to different universes and had powers given to me by way of CYOA’s (Create Your Own Adventures). Nothing here is official or canon. It is all what happenes (or what could happen) IF you gain powers/abilities and can travel to fictional universes that you read about or watch, and want to see how it would be to live in these alternat universes and have a chance to make some changes in them. Hopefully for the better.
Many of the CYOA’s give you companions/waifus. So, there are many girls from the CYOA’s. This does NOT mean anything untoward is going on. So, get you mind out of the gutter.
Chapter 1
I had decided to take a drive in the country. It’s something we did when I was younger. We’d all pile into the car and Dad would drive us around in the country. It’s something I hadn’t done in a long time, so I decided to do it today. Something to do to get out of the house.
After driving for a while and looking at the countryside. The last thing I remember of the drive is a tire blowing and the car skidding and flipping. Then everything went black.
I had to be dreaming or hallucinating, because I heard a voice in the blackness. A voice I had never heard before. “Your wish, your dreams, your fantasies. Whatever you wish to call them are given you.” It didn’t make any since, because at the moment, my wishes or dreams were to not die.
There were flashes, images and bits in the blackness but I couldn’t remember what they were.
Waking up I found myself on the ground, laying in the grass on my back. Opening my eye I saw the sky, right before it was blocked from my view by a cute face. Typical reaction, I had died and gone to heaven, but that really didn’t seem right. Looking at the girl standing over me, I knew I should know who she was. But how or why I should know her, I didn’t know.
She grinned at me. “You can get up Eilwyn. Your okay.” (She pronounced it El-win.)
Slowly moving my arms and legs, and when nothing hurt, I sat up. Then I took a closer look at the girl. Even though I was sitting on the ground and she was standing up. It looked like she would be shorter than I am. Maybe 5 feet tall. The sun was hitting her hair and giving it highlights. Usually highlights are red or blond, but her highlights were red, blue, teal, peach, and purple, with a metallic sheen to them. Titanium came to mind.
Eilwyn! Why would she use that name for me. It isn’t my real name, and I’ve told only one person about the reason behind that name. I looked to where my car was. It’s not in the greatest of shape. Broken out windows, the roof buckled in on one side, and both tires on the side I could see were flat. Not sure if it would be totaled or the insurance company would repair it.
I had just been thrown about seventy-five feet from my car and nothing was broken, nothing hurt and no scrapes or cuts. I turned and looked at the girl again. The girl that looked so familiar, but I still can’t figure out where I’d seen her before. “H-how do you know I’m okay? And how do you know who I am?”
She giggled. “I’m, 'Your Own Familiar’ your Companion.”
'My own Familiar, my Companion? I have a Familiar?’ I thought to myself. 'How could that be possible. That was a CYOA I had created, 'Your Own Familiar’.’
*Yes, you have a Familiar and I’m her.* She cocked her head to the side. I heard her in my head. *I can hear what you're saying in your head, and you can hear what I’m saying in my head. You know, telepathy.* She sent to me, grinning.
'My Familiar/Companion, and I can talk to her, telepathicly. I started running ideas though my head. It couldn’t be… could it?’ I thought.
*Well, I’m here.* She sent to me.
“Or I’m dreaming, or hallucinating.” I replied.
My car is probably totaled so I figured I’d try a test. Still sitting on the ground I reach my hand out towards my wrecked car. Holding my hand out in front of me, thinking of my car, I close my hand into a fist. As I did, the car twisted and crushed in the sides. Making it totally undrivable and a total wreck.
I remember what the voice in the darkness said. 'Your wish, your dreams, your fantasies. Whatever you wish to call them are given you.’ I looked back at the girl and a name comes to me. “Taima? Your Taima?”
“That’s me, and it looks like your dreams have come true.” Taima said sitting down beside me.
I had to remember the dreams, or wishes I’d had. “Could this be about the folder on my computer titled CYOA’s?” I asked out loud to myself.
Taima giggled. “It looks like it. I seem to know that I have only been here for a couple minutes, but I have memories farther back than that, OOHHH! I hear sirens!” She said and put her hands over her ears.
I could hear the sirens also.
“If this is all true and I’m not insane, dreaming or hallucinating. You can change into a wolf, right? Change into a Timber Wolf. I don’t think we need them seeing you right now. Well see you in human form, anyways.” I looked at Taima beside me. “It’s going to be difficult enough explaining all this without another person to explain about.”
The next moment Taima was no longer the cute youngish looking girl, but now a Timber Wolf.
I motioned to Taima and told her. “Go on over there on the rise. It’s going to be difficult enough convincing the cops that I’m not hurt without having to explain how you were in the wreck and didn’t get hurt as well.”
Taima trotted up the rise and looked back at me. “Can you make it over the fence?” I asked her.
She looked at the fence, then I hear in my head. *No problem.*
As I watched, Taima “Blinked” to the other side of the fence. Blink is a short distance teleportation, no more than 100 feet in distance and in line of sight.
“That answers that question.” I said.
She cocked her head to the side. *What question is that?*
“How we are going to get home. At least I hope we can teleport home.” I could see a cop car just down the road with it’s lights on. I’m guessing it’s a Sheriff’s car, since we are in the country.
I didn’t want to, but in this instance I had to. I tried out my new mind control abilities to make the sheriff’s deputy believe I wasn’t hurt, which I wasn’t, in the accident. It is the truth, but how do you convince someone that when the car you wrecked in, is totaled and you walk away unharmed.
The Shariff called for a tow truck. While we were waiting for the tow truck to arrive, the sheriff took some pictures of my car. I asked him to send copies to me so I could use them for my insurance.
After my car was on the back of the wrecker and headed off and the Sheriff was on his way. “I need to get home, now.” I told Taima.
*We’, need to get home.* I heard in my head along with a giggle.
“Sorry, this is going to take a little while to get used to.” I looked over at Taima. “We need to get home.” I looked around. “I don’t think flying would be a good idea. I think I need to practice some place no one will see me. Besides flying would draw too much attention.”
The wolf Taima 'Blinked’ to my side. I looked down at her and scratch her head between her ears. “Let’s give Teleporting a try, shall we?” I pictured my back yard. No need popping into the front yard where anyone could see. I imagine myself being there. I look down at Taima. “That is how you do it, correct? Picture where you want to go, concentrate on that location and 'will’ yourself there?” I asked her.
Taima looked back at me and just nodded her head, yes. Which is funny seeing a wolf nod it’s head like a human.
The next moment I or rather we, were in my back yard. It took a moment for me to re-orient myself.
“Wow! That was interesting.” I looked around, to make sure no one saw us 'port’ into the back yard. We started walking to the front of the house. “This is… 'our’ house.” I said to Taima.
Taima trotted beside me. *One of them.* She sent, and I heard giggling in my head again.
I stopped walking and looked down at Taima. “Yah. If this has something to do with my 'dreams’ then there should be at least one more house. If it’s what I think it is, I want to wait a little while before I - we,” I nodded towards Taima. “go looking for it.” I started walking again. I reached into my front pocket and pulled my keys out, to unlock the front door.
Looking over to the garage. “I guess I’ll need to get another car. I’ll wait and see what happens. I think I’m going to be busy for a while figuring all this out. But then, with all the abilities I’m supposed to have now, I don’t really need a car. If I’m not dreaming or hallucinating, that is.” Unlocking the front door, I held it open for Taima to enter first. After I’d entered the house, I shut the door. “Human form please.”
Yes master. Taima giggled. “I am your Familiar after all.” She was back in the human form, she had been in after the wreck.
I staired at Taima for a couple seconds. “I prefer companion or friend. "I know we are connected, and you pretty much have to do what I tell you. But I prefer you to be more of a companion. I’ll try to let you make a lot of your own decisions. With us being connected or linked telepathically, I’m guessing you’ll know what I want as soon as I know.” I shrugged my shoulders. Being connected that way I wouldn’t know if what she did was her own idea or what I was thinking or wanting. I’d just have to let things run their course and live with whatever happens. Although I did know that if I didn’t treat her well, she could leave. That is, if any Familiar wasn’t treated well by their 'master’ the Familiar can leave.
I went online and checked my bank account to see how much money was in it, because one of my “dreams or CYOA’s” gave me some money. Well, quite a bit of money. And yes, there was quite a bit more money in my account than should be. Well quite a bit is another understatement of how much more money was in my account. There was enough for me to live off of for the rest of my life. As long as I didn’t go crazy with it. No, I lie. If I’m correct, I have immortality, so the money would not really last very long, in that since. “I should go in and put most of the money into a savings account, or invest it.” I said talking more to myself than to Taima.
There should have been more money in my account. But thinking of what I had wanted. The money could be divided between three accounts or three places, but that would have to wait before I could check it out.
Sitting on the couch, I leaned back, rubbed my eyes and face with my hands. “OH, this is a lot to get used to.” I looked at Taima, who was smiling at me. Then it hit me. I didn’t have my glasses on. Yet, I could clearly see her. Well, I can see better than I could 'with’ my glasses. I heaved a big sigh. If this 'is’ about my 'dreams’ then I don’t need glasses anymore. I went into the bathroom. I wanted to see what I looked like. My reflection was close to the same as before the accident. But my gray hair was gone. I was the same height as before, but some of my facial features were a little different. All my old aches and pains were gone as well, and my hair was thicker and fuller. It was dark brown but there were blue highlights. BLUE highlights! And my eyes are now a bright teal color. Where did those colors come from! Thinking about it, I did know where the colors might have come from. But it’s still a shock seeing myself with these changes. And the real surprise was I had a full set of teeth. I’d had them removed because of how bad they had gotten. But it didn’t matter any more. My skin tone was a little darker. It’s a little darker than a light tan. It looked like some of my ethnic heritage was more prominent than they used to be.
I looked about the same, so anyone that knew me would probably recognize me. But I looked different enough that I could pass as my own brother or cousin.
Taima came into the bathroom, and saw the shocked look on my face. “Isn’t this what you wanted. What you dreamed about?” She asks.
“I guess so. But dreaming of being able to do things like this and REALLY being able to do them, are two different things. Along with the changes in my looks. AND this is NOTHING I thought would really happen to me. I guess it’s like living from paycheck to paycheck and suddenly winning the Power Ball. I want to believe it, but is it real, or a dream. If it’s real I don’t want to go running around using my abilities all over the place. That would make me a target for all sorts of people… And I’m not sure what to do next. I should probably take a few days to get used to what’s happening, get used to what I can do, and get used to my new looks.” I looked at Taima. “And get used to having someone else around all the time.” I headed to the kitchen. *I’m getting something to drink. Do you want anything?* I said in my head, seeing if Taima would hear it.
*I’m not Thirsty.* Taima sent back. She had followed me as far as the doorway into the kitchen.
“I’m not… thirsty… either.” I stopped and looked at the refrigerator. “I’m not thirsty.” I walked back and looked at Taima. “I’m not thirsty.” I said again, sounding like a broken record. “That’s because of you right? Sustenance?”
Taima giggled. “Or Endurance. Could be either one or both.”
With Sustenance I don’t have to eat, drink, breath or sleep. But I can do all of those things if I want to. Endurance lets me work or run all day without needing to rest, and I don’t need to eat.
“I’m not thirsty.” I said again. “BUT, I’m still getting something to drink. Do you want anything?”
“I’ll take the same as you, sweet tea.” She replied.
I went back into the kitchen and poured two glasses of tea. I took them back into the living room, and hand one to Taima. Then I sat down beside her. I stood back up and fished in my pants pocket. Pulling out my keys, I saw two new keys on my key ring. Holding them up so we both could see them. “For the other house?” It was a statement as well as a question.
Taima looked the keys over. “I believe so. Should we go and take a look?”
I put the keys back in my pocket, and sat back down. “Not yet. I don’t think I’m ready for Thread and fire breathing dragons, quit yet.” At least I believe that is where the new house will be. I took a drink of my tea. “I still want to get used to everything before I go traveling to other universes.” I took another drink of tea. “I wonder…”
“Where your weapon is?” Taima finished my sentence. I gave her a dirty look, and she giggled. “Sorry, I know I don’t have to finish your sentences for you, just because I know what your thinking. Right?”
“Right. But yes, I wonder where my weapon is. Is it, in the Armory or in the little storage pocket dimension?” I finished.
Taima looked thoughtful for a moment. I heard her thoughts, but I ignored them. I didn’t want to always be listening into what she was thinking. “Well since you don’t have it yet, they could be in either the Armory or the storage space (Meaning the small personal pocket dimension about the size of a large closet).”
I cut in. “But since I can summon it to me at any time. I could probably summon it to me now. Right?”
Taima nodded her head, yes. “Any time you want too, if I understand how it works correctly.”
“What to do, what to do.” I said more to myself than to Taima. “I can’t really do much in the light of day.” I thought for a couple minutes. “I’ve been wanting a fence around the backyard. I could practice my Earth Control by putting up a stone or earthen fence-wall around the back yard…” I started, but before I could finish my thoughts, there was a knock at the front door.
I looked at Taima. “I’m not expecting anyone.” Getting up, I go and opened the front door. Standing on the front porch was a girl. Any female younger than myself or under the age of 55, the age I was, I call a girl. And this one looked to be around my age. Or at least my 'new’ age of 20. Like Taima, she looked familiar. “Hello.” I said.
The girl looked at me for a moment. “I was told you were looking for roommates and to come to this address. I am called Robbie.” She gave a weak smile. “I was told my name was a joke, but I don’t understand it.” Robbie is about my height, maybe a tad shorter. Her hair is a Silver/grey color. If that’s really a hair color. Her hair is short, a bob cut is what I believe they call it. And blue eyes.
That is where you remember her. Taia said in my head.
“Ya… uh… ya. I remember something about roommates.” It wasn’t the truth, but then it wasn’t exactly a lie either. It was part of one of the CYOA’s. “Well this isn’t the place you’ll be staying. I’ll have to…” A car was pulled into the driveway. I watched it pull in. “Another one?”
Robbie turned to look at the car. “Another one?” She asked, confused by what I had said.
“Ya, I believe it might be another 'roommate’. I don’t know of anyone else that would be showing up right now.” I told Robbie.
The car came to a stop, and the driver’s door opened and out stepped another girl. A name came to me, as I heard Amber, in my head. I looked at Taima and nodded my head, in agreement, as the girl walked up to the porch. “Amber? Your Amber, right?” I asked.
“Hi, big brother. Long time no see.” Amber said and laughed, as she stepped onto the porch. She reached her arms out and took me in her arms and gave me a hug.
“That’s something else I’m going to have to get used to, a sister.” I said returning the hug. I released her and stepped back.
Watching Amber, I saw that she is about my height maybe a bit taller than myself. Reddish-brown hair, that reached her shoulders and I could see she had green eyes.
A little sister that is taller than I am. She’ll probably rub it in. But then I do have an advantage I can use if I need to, or want to.
I don’t really know how all this works with Amber being my sister. That was part of the CYOA, where she was my long-lost sister. My/our parents had adopted her out when she was a baby. But that was all part of the CYOA not real life. Yet here she is, my long-lost sister. We might be coming close to a paradox.
Turning slightly so I could see Robbie. “This is Robbie, another roommate. Robbie this is my long lost sister Amber.” Then I motioned for Taima to come out onto the porch. “And this is Taima.” I invite them into the house. We all found seats and get settled. “There should be two more. Well… several more but I’m hoping the rest will be at Tel Aviv Hold.”
“The house is in Israel?” Asked Robbie.
I chuckled. “No, It’s not in Israel. I just call it Tel Aviv Hold. And a Hold is from the Dragon Riders of Pern books.” I explained. And there was another knock on the door. “I’m guessing that’s Mercedes, if it’s another roommate, because Yuki can’t knock. At least not yet.” I said. Standing up, I went to the door and opened it. Standing there, is yet another girl. “You would be Mercedes?” I asked. She nodded her head, yes. I invite her in. “You’ll love the lab. You can’t blow it up. But I do have a few things for you to build once we’re at the new house and settled in. And not questioning your skills, but if your not sure how to build what I want. There will be books for you to read through to give you all the information you’ll need.”
Mercedes nodded her head, with a bit of a surprised look on her face. “I guess I can do that for you. What do you want me to build?”
“Sorry didn’t mean to over load you like that. I’ll tell you later when there’s more time.” I offered her a seat then introduce her all around. “I’ll explane everything once Yuki arrives. No need to repeate myself several times.” I said.
Mercedes looked like the typical tomboy. She is several inches taller than me, with light brown hair cut short and a little spikey on top, with hazel eyes.
Amber piped up. “Who is Yuki? Another roommate?”
I grinned. “Yes, she’s the last roommate of this group. But she’s a bit, shall I say, different. She’s a ghost.” I held up my hands to keep everyone quiet. “But if she has a place to live and to call home. She will get her physical body back. So then, I’m guessing, she will be alive again. It’s a bit strange, but not really any stranger than everything else that’s going on right now.”
Amber grinned. “We have our own ghost? It’ll be like one of the Hogwarts school houses, with Yuki as our house ghost.”
Everyone laughed. “That is probably closer to how it will be than you know…” I started.
As if on queue, the head of a woman popped through the door. “I’m Yuki and I was told you were taking in roommates. Am I at the correct place?” She asked.
Yuki’s taller than me by a few inches. She has long black hair, that reaches the middle of her back, and brown eyes. Her skin is pail, but then she 'is’ a ghost.
Almost at once. “Yes, it is.” “Looks like it.” “You're the last one.” “It appears so.” Everyone broke into laughter.
After getting the laughing under control, I said. “Yes, your at the right place Yuki. Well it’s the place everyone is meeting at. The new house is in another place. And I guess it’s about time I take you there.” I introduce everyone to Yuki. Then I motion everyone to follow me to the back yard.
You wanted to practice. Taima said telepathically.
Ya, but I didn’t expect to be inundated with roommates, either. I replied. I had planned on waiting a couple days. But it looks like my mind has been changed. I kind of chuckled.
I lead everyone out to the back yard. Then turning to the group. “About every ability I have is new to me right now. So taking everyone to the new house is also new. I’ll set up a portal to the house and send Taima through first. She’ll let me know if it’s in the correct place. Then we’ll all go through.”
Taima gave me a dirty look. “That’s right, use me as a guinea pig.” She said out loud so everyone could hear, then she grinned and giggled.
The others looked at each other as if they weren’t sure about any of this.
“Okay, let’s give this a try.” I close my eyes and concentrated on the universe the new house should be in, and the time I want it to be there. Then think of a doorway between this universe and that one. Opening my eyes there is, what looks like, a hole in the air in front of me. The edges of the hole shimmer as if the light is bouncing off of different surfaces. In the middle of the hole is a building, a house, that looks like it has a graveyard in front of it. There are also some trees and bushes that don’t look like anything I’ve ever seen before. “Your up.” I told Taima. “And keep an eye out.”
Taima took a step towards the opening then turned back to me. “I know what to look for.” And she tapped her head by her temple with a finger. Turning back to the portal, she walked through. We could see her looking around, then she headed to the grave yard and out of sight.
Waiting to see if everything was good, I turn to my new roommates. “It looks like the right place. It should only be a minute or two before we know.”
“Where is this place?” Yuki asked.
“It’s a place called Pern. It’s kind of backwards. The people are in about the late middle ages. There’s even dragons, but they aren’t anything to worry about. They work with humans, they don’t hunt or fight humans.” I told them.
“If it’s that backwards. What am I going to do there? I’m a mechanic and they didn’t have much for mechanics to do back then.” Mercedes asked me.
“They are backwards right now. But in about a year, their time, they will be learning a LOT of new things. Right now they are working on something like a telegraph. And in a year, or what they call turns, they will find a computer that will teach them HUGE amounts of modern technology. Or at least more modern technology than they have now.” I explained.
Robbie looked confused. “How do you know all that will happen? Can you see the future, or are you guessing?”
I chuckled. “I can open a portal to any real or fictional universe.” I motioned to the portal. “And this portal goes to the universe of Pern. Where they ride dragons and live in a middle ages type of world. I’ve read the books so I know what is going to happen. At least to a point. I’m not sure if once I get there if I can change the story line, or if it runs according to how it is in the books no matter what I do there. But I’m hoping I can change the story line. There’s not a lot I would want to change on Pern but there are a few thing I want to change.” I said.
“And I plan on going to the RWB*Y, pronounced Ruby, universe later on. And there I plan on changing the story line quite a bit, if I’m able to. I’m guessing that any changes I make will only happen in that Universe and not in the books or DVDs.” I finish.
“So, you want to go to places you’ve read about and change what happens in the story?” Amber asked me.
I grinned. “More or less, yes. RWBY is an animi show not a book, but that doesn’t really matter.” I told her.
“How can you do that?” Amber added.
I shrugged my shoulders. “I’m not really sure how I can do it. All I know is I’ve been given some abilities and one of them is traveling to different universes, both real and fictional. And once I’m there they become real.” I said.
After waiting a short time. It looks good. Bring them through. Taima sent to me. I nodded my head. Then to my new roommates. “It’s all good to go.” At the look on a couple faces, I know they were a little concerned or worried about what they were walking into. “Don’t worry, it’s safe. I’m new at this, so I just wanted to make sure I opened the portal to the correct location. And Taima just informed me it’s good.” Taima walked to where we could see her on the other side of the portal and waved at us.
Making a sweeping motion with my hand to the portal. “Ladies, after you.”
Looking around at each other, Robbie moved first, and walked through the portal. There was a slight shimmer, then you could see Eve standing beside Taima. Mercedes followed after Robbie, then Amber and last, Yuki. Once I walked through the portal I turned around and close it so no one else could come through. Don’t want anyone just walking through the portal.

Manga the Week of 5/11/22
SEAN: The week of Mother’s Day, and what manga will moms be reading?
Yen On has a 5th volume of Bofuri: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense.
The Yen Press debut is Mizuno and Chayama, a Comic Beam title that is done in one 2-volume omnibus. It’s Romeo and Juliet, only they’re both teenage girls, and the setting is corporations vs. the government.
MICHELLE: Hm. Potentially interesting!
ANNA: This does sound interesting.
ASH: I agree!
MELINDA: What everyone else said!
SEAN: Also being released: Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? II 2, The Saga of Tanya the Evil 16, Solo Leveling 4, and Star Wars Leia, Princess of Alderaan 2.
Viz Media has Death Note Short Stories, which is exactly what it says.
ASH: It’s been quite a while since I’ve thought about Death Note; the series is among the earliest manga I read.
MELINDA: Wow, what could this possibly be? I’m actually a little curious.
SEAN: We also see Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai 2, Fly Me to the Moon 11, Mao 5, Pokémon Adventures: X•Y 2, and Requiem of the Rose King 15.
MICHELLE: I’m quite far behind on Requiem of the Rose King now!
ANNA: Alas, me too.
ASH: I’ve been saving up volumes to read all at once.
MELINDA: I am also behind, but omg!
SEAN: Tentai Books sees a print release for From Toxic Classmate to Girlfriend Goals 1, I Kissed my Girlfriend’s Little Sister?! 1, and There’s No Way a Side Character Like Me Could Be Popular Right? 3.
SEAN: Three new titles from SuBLime: Change World 2 (the final volume), Finder Deluxe Edition 11, and His Favorite 12.
ASH: Oh, somehow I didn’t realize His Favorite was still ongoing!
Square Enix manga has the 5th volume of My Dress-Up Darling.
ASH: Another series that I’m behind on, but I really enjoyed the early volumes.
MELINDA: I’ve heard good things about this, and I feel like I need to get into it!
SEAN: From Seven Seas we get The Ancient Magus’ Bride: Wizard’s Blue 4, the 14th and final volume of Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka, Mushoku Tensei: Roxy Gets Serious 7, and Wonder Cat Kyuu-chan 5.
ASH: I’ve mainly focused on the main series, so far; I need to catch up on the spinoffs of The Ancient Magus’ Bride.
SEAN: Kodansha has a print debut, coming from the ever popular Shuzo Oshimi. Devil Ecstasy is an early Young Magazine title about a brothel filled with women who may be killing men with their sexy skills. It’s also a two-volume omnibus.
ASH: Oshimi’s work is frequently disconcerting, but generally worth taking a look.
MELINDA: I’ll let Ash be the one to take a look, haha.
SEAN: Also in print: Battle Angel Alita 6, Ciguatera 2, My Boy 9 (the final volume), The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse 3, and The Seven Deadly Sins Omnibus 4.
Digitally our debut is This Vampire Won’t Give Up! (Vampire-sama ga Akiramenai!), another josei title from Comic Tint. Our heroine has to work with a handsome but rude man, but then finds out he’s also the author of her favorite childhood book about vampires. What’s his secret? (Take a guess.)
MICHELLE: Snerk.
ANNA: I don’t know what the secret is, I might have to read it and find out.
ASH: Ha!
MELINDA: The title is kind of hilarious, right? It’s the exclamation point…
SEAN: There’s also Ace of the Diamond 37, Apple Children of Aeon 3 (the final volume), The Fable 2, A Kiss with a Cat 3, Our Bodies, Entwining, Entwined 3, Police in a Pod 12, and Ya Boy Kongming! 7.
ASH: Ya Boy Kongming! is now more fully on my radar since I’ve been hearing good things about the anime.
SEAN: From J-Novel Club we see The Apothecary Diaries 5, Black Summoner’s 6th manga volume, Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill 11, My Daughter Left the Nest and Returned an S-Rank Adventurer 4, and Sorcerous Stabber Orphen: The Wayward Journey 17.
Ghost Ship debuts It’s Just Not My Night! – Tale of a Fallen Vampire Queen (Yo ga Yorunara!), a Magazine Pocket series, shows us a hard-luck vampire queen forced to find part-time work – some of which is very sketchy!
They’ve also got SUPER HXEROS 7.
Already out from Denpa, who just put it on their website, is Black Tights: WIDE, an artbook featuring, well, girls in tights. It features “some of the best artists in Japan” and also a lot of good-looking gams.
Dark Horse Comics debuts Cat + Gamer (Neko Gurashi Gamer-san), from Shonen Sunday S. the gamer is Riko, an office lady who doesn’t have time for socializing when there’s games to be played. Then she picks up a stray cat. Can games help her figure out how to deal with a pet?
ASH: This is supposed to be pretty good.
MELINDA: I mean, it has a cat, so it automatically wins.
SEAN: Dark Horse also has Gantz’s 9th omnibus.
Lastly, Airship has, in print, Classroom of the Elite 11 and How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom 14.
The digital-first debut is Modern Villainess: It’s Not Easy Building a Corporate Empire Before the Crash (Gendai Shakai de Otome Game no Akuyaku Reijou wo Suru no wa Chotto Taihen), whose gimmick is that our reincarnated villainess is not in a world of nobles and princes, but in Japan at the height of the economic boom! Can she use her future knowledge to avoid her fate and avoid the upcoming bursting of the bubble economy?
ASH: Too soon?
SEAN: And also in early digital: Classroom of the Elite 11.5 and The Haunted Bookstore – Gateway to a Parallel Universe 4.
What are you getting mom? Devil Ecstasy? Tales of a Fallen Vampire Queen? Or perhaps something more wholesome?
