Chapter Eight: Be Still
Tumblr media
Would You Call That Love
Pairing: Chris Evans x Raina Morrison (OC)
Rating: PG to PG-13 (Might be 18+ for some chapters)
Story Summary: There was always that one person Chris Evans tended to turn to when he was not in a committed relationship, Raina Morrison. He could confide in her about things going on in his life that he did not feel comfortable talking to his family or close friends about. Chris and Raina were able to establish a way to openly communicate with one another, but also being respectful of the other’s time and needs. It was the only constant “relationship” he had, but without all the nonsense of trying to build a life together. A “friends with benefits” situation. However, what happens when Chris starts rethinking his “relationship” with Raina and if either are willing to pursue something more?
Chapter Summary: Raina and Chris are having trouble dealing with their time apart. Long-distance relationships suck.
Chapter Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Word Count: 2,258
Author’s Note: I was having trouble with this chapter. I had to end up rewriting it because I was not feeling the first draft.
Italics represent flashback conversations.
Sadly, I do not know Chris Evans or anyone in his family, and this is just a fictional take on his life. I do not permit this fic to be reposted on other platforms.

Three months. That is how long Raina and Chris had been apart. She continued to star in the Broadway version of Moulin Rouge as Satine. Shows were constantly selling out. Reviews were acclaimed. Unfortunately, Raina was feeling bored. The same routine was beginning to annoy her. She didn't like that there was no room to change things up. Being in a Broadway show was vastly different from her concerts. Raina knew it would be.
Jerry had warned Raina that Broadway was a whole different ballgame than what she was used to or experienced. "You won't be able to change or add things from show to show. It is more rigorous than what you are used to, kid," Raina remembered Jerry telling her one day before she accepted the role.
Raina wanted a challenge. She wanted to do something different. There were times where Raina felt stagnant in her career. Plus, Raina was now considered an aging pop star, so she had to begin the process of branching out into different fields of entertainment.
"You should do the voice," Jerry would always suggest, which Raina repetitively turned down. It wasn't that Raina looked down on voice competition shows. She didn't want to open that door to be on television every week for months on end. She was a performer, not a judge.
Again, three months. Three months since Raina had physically seen her boyfriend. They talked on the phone and skyped regularly, but it was not the same as being in the same room. She missed Chris terribly. And he missed her.
Chris had been pretty busy himself, first having to take Dodger back to Boston before getting ready to go to Toronto. With Raina's busy schedule, she would not have been able to take care of the canine. For a week and a half, Chris would attend the Toronto Film Festival to promote the movie Knives Out. Raina wished she could have gone with him. Chris wished she could have gone with him.
After the film festival, Chris didn't have much downtime. He rushed into working on A Starting Point with Mark to outline the website and coordinate interviews with politicians.
Raina made it a point to steer clear of conversations about ASP. Truthfully, she didn't find the idea appealing or exciting. Yes, Americans needed to be informed about certain aspects of politics and important issues. But many outlets already offered what Chris and Mark were trying to do. She asked Chris one time what made ASP different from the others. She was surprised that he wasn't quite able to come up with a sufficient answer. Raina knew Chris meant well.
"Chris," she spoke up one day before he left the City, "You know I will never bullshit you, and I won't ever blow smoke up your ass. That has never been the kind of friendship we had. Nor is it how we want our intimate relationship to go."
He looked at Raina and told her to go on. "Sometimes, I have noticed, is that you tend not to be able to look outside of your privilege, Chris. You know what I am saying?"
Chris turned to his girlfriend. He was confused about where she was getting at. "No. What are you saying?"
Raina sighed. She could tell Chris was on the verge of getting defensive. "Nothing," she said, throwing her hands up in defeat. "Look, let's no…argue about…stupid stuff, okay." Raina pleaded and walked up to Chris to put her arms around him.
He reciprocated by doing the same. Leaning in, Chris captured Raina's lips. "I don't want to argue either. Especially not before I have to leave," he whispered in her ear.
There would times when Raina would look back on that exchange between her and Chris. She felt weird about how Chris became so defensive. Yeah, she could have worded things better; however, why should she?
Truthfully, Chris was a privileged white male. If he took the time to recognize his privileges, it would make him a better ally to those who represent underprivileged groups. Raina was worried about any possible backlash Chris could face with a project like AS, which was not what she wanted for him. She understood that this was a passion project for Chris and Mark as well. Raina only wanted Chris to make sure that everything was in order and that nothing would be thrown at him unexpectedly. She knew Chris wasn't able to take criticism very well, even when it was constructive, mainly when it came to projects he was enthusiastic about; she understood as she was the same way.
With their time apart, Chris had to miss her birthday, October 19. Chris made sure to send Raina an enormous flower arrangement he could find, along with an array of goodies from Dylan's Candy Bar store. Chris knew the gifts would something Raina would appreciate. However, he still felt guilty that he was not with her to celebrate her birthday in person.
"Hey, birthday girl," Chris greeted Raina through skype on the day of her birthday. He laughed when he saw that she was holding the cupcake pillow he got her.
"I love it!" she exclaimed happily. "And I love my three-tier candy cake. I can't believe you got me that," Raina pointed out as she adjusted the laptop camera to show Chris the candy cake. "I won't be able to eat all of that."
"Yeah, you will," he laughed.
"I miss you," Raina said to Chris. "I didn't think being away from you would be this hard."
Chris sighed, "I miss you, too, sweetheart. But we'll see each other for Christmas, right?"
"Yes, of course. I made sure to schedule that time off. I still plan to come up to Concord for Christmas. My dad has already made plans with Diane for not only Christmas but Thanksgiving as well. So he is taken care of," Raina revealed. "Speaking of Thanksgiving, what are you doing?"
Shifting in his seat, Chris shared that he would spend it in Concord with his family. He noticed the slight disappointment on Raina's face and shift in her demeanor. "You don't want to come here and spend the holiday with me?" she asked solemnly. She didn't want to press on the issue but wanted to hear Chris's reason.
Raina understood that Chris always liked to spend the holidays with his family, but deep down, she hoped he would change it up this year. "It's just been two and a half months since we saw each other," Raina began but stopped. The last thing she wanted to do was to make Chris feel guilty. "Do you have any time off before then?"
"Like you, I'm completely booked up until Christmas. Mark and I are still working on the website for A Starting Point for the rest of October, then when November comes around, it is all press for Knives Out and premiers. Trust me; I would rather be with you than have to do press junkets or walk red carpets," Chris acknowledged.
Raina grabbed a piece of candy from her three-tier candy cake. She just sat back in her chair, not looking at the computer screen. Raina focused on the candy. She didn't want to look at Chris because if she did, tears would begin to form. For some reason, missing Chris and wanting to be with him felt like the equivalent of homesickness. It was a feeling she had never experienced when it came to another human being. Even when she was a teenager touring across the world, she never felt homesick. Her relationship with Chris brought along a whole new set of feelings for Raina, and part of it scared her.
She suddenly asked herself, 'Am I becoming too dependent on Chris?' The last thing Raina wanted to be, was co-dependent.
Raina shook her head and sat up in her chair. She looked at Chris and smiled. "I'm sorry. I know you're busy. I don't mean to pressure you or make you feel bad."
The two continued to talk a bit longer until Chris noticed Raina yawning. "Okay, sweetheart, I will let you get to bed."
"No, I can still talk. It's early," Raina whined like a child.
"It's a quarter after eleven, and that is now your fourth yawn in the last fifteen minutes," he pointed out. "You need to get to bed."
Raina sighed, "Alright, boss. I'll get to bed. Talk to you later or when either one of us is available. Bye, honey. Love you."
"Love you, too. Bye."
Tumblr media
Thanksgiving rolled around faster than Chris expected. Time flies when one is busy. He continued to talk to Raina via phone or skype. However, Chris was also beginning to get frustrated at their time apart. Currently, he was home, sitting in his living room with his brother and brother-in-law, watching a football game between the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys while his mom and sisters prepared dinner. Lisa would poke her head from the kitchen, asking the boys for help from time to time. His niece and nephew were running around playing with Dodger, who appeared to love the attention.
It was almost perfect, except one person was missing. Raina. He called her earlier that day. She shared that she was celebrating Thanksgiving, Chandler Bing style, with some of the Moulin Rouge cast.
"What the Hell is Thanksgiving, Chandler Bing style?" Chris asked, confused.
"Damnit, watch friends, Christopher," Raina scolded teasingly. "Chandler Bing doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving. Because that was the day his parents told him that they were getting divorced. So, instead of all the turkey fixings and stuffing, we have grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup, and a family-size bag of Funyuns as an appetizer. We have lots of booze, so don't worry. Oh, and pumpkin cheesecake. Good times, right."
Chris only laughed. "You're living the dream. I don't think what Ma is making could compare."
"Just be sure to tell her to make her spaghetti for Christmas dinner. Or at least make a small pot of it just for me, okay."
"She's planning to, so don't worry. What are you watching? I hear gunfire," Chris enquired.
"I'm watching my husband, Tommy Shelby, shoot at the Italians," Raina informed as she watched Peaky Blinders. "I love Tommy Shelby. I tell you, Chris, if Tommy Shelby showed up at my door asking me to marry him, I would most likely say yes."
"Is that so."
"In a heartbeat. Sorry, hon, but Tommy Shelby, the things I would let him do to..."
"Thank God he is a fictional character," Chris interrupted.
"Not in my dreams he isn't," Raina taunted.
"Okay, I'm hanging up now."
"Alright, I'll stop lusting after my fictional husband while I'm on the phone with you," said Raina and switched topics.
The two continued to talk until Chris was ordered into the kitchen by his mother. It was his turn to help.
Chris was chopping carrots and celery when his mother asked how Raina was doing.
"She is doing fine. Raina wishes she could be here."
However, Lisa could tell something was bothering Chris. He could never hide his emotions from her. "What's the matter, Christopher?"
Chris continued to chop the vegetables until he stopped to look at his mother. "I didn't expect being away from Raina would be this hard, Ma."
"Of course it is. You love Raina," Lisa stated as she continued cooking.
"I do. But in the past, I had girlfriends who I loved and had to do long-distance," Chris explained. "None of those worked out."
"Because you weren't truly in love with them," Lisa pointed out. "Don't compare what you have with Rain to your past relationships. Every relationship is different. What you and Raina have now is not something you have experienced before, which is real love. True love. Everyone always knew that you two would end up together, except you and Raina. You both are so cute but also clueless at times. You both will get through this. The work commitments will die down. You both will be reunited. Everything will be fine."
Chris took in what his mother was saying. He knew she was right. He had things to look forward to beginning the start of the new year.
"Raina is the first person I dated, well since Jessica at least, that I have really begun to think about marriage and kids. Part of me is scared because it's all so fast. We have only started dating back in mid-July. I don't want to rush anything. I don't want to scare her off. I don't want her to get bored of me," Chris confessed honestly.
It was heartbreaking for Lisa to hear. She gestured for Chris to sit down at the kitchen table. "You need to stop, Chris. You are allowing your anxiety to get the best of you. Just take a deep breath, okay," she instructed her oldest son. "Raina will never get bored of you. She loves you very much. Don't think about the past; only focus on the future. You and Raina will be fine. More than fine. Yes, there will be hard times, along with good times. It is normal for every functional relationship. You can't have the good without the bad, the sad without the happy, the ups and the downs. The universe needs balance."
"Okay, Oprah," Chris joked. "I get what you're saying."
"Do you?"
"Yeah, I do, Ma."
"Good. Now get back to chopping," Lisa ordered, and Chris went back to cutting vegetables for Thanksgiving dinner.

My Everything
so I’ve been working on this bad boi for a long time now (even though it doesn’t seem like it) I’m also gonna dedicate this to @i-write-fanfics-to-procrastinate because she was my chat buddy while writing this and I love her.
Pairing: Kacchako
I really hope you all enjoy this!!
Minor sexual activities implied (very implied)
---
Uraraka glared at the drink in her hand. The small ice cubes were slowly melting away and she hated her drinks to be watered down, yet she couldn’t bring herself to care. Her mind was stuck in an endless void and not even the party surrounding her could bring her out of her funk. She really should be enjoying herself at the yearly pro hero gathering. Sure, she was excited to be there, any one who made it in the ranks would be thrilled for an invitation to this event but even in her beautiful gown, her normal smile hardly showed and she could tell that her fake smile was diminishing fast. It was like the weight of a building had crashed onto her heart and she could barely feel its steady beating.
When she first arrived to the event, she was content and tried to focus on the party at hand. She surrounded herself with her normal group of friends like Deku, Iida, Tsyu and Todoroki, all who have climbed the ranks over the past few years. As the years of hero duty traveled, she secured a spot in the top ten and currently held the fifth position. She was in the prime of her time and she couldn’t be more proud.
Life was great for her. She was a top hero and was a known figure across the globe and was seen with amazing pros. She even started a program for underprivileged children and had her own scholarship to offer for graduating students. But the past year had slapped her across the face and drove her confidence six feet under.
She took another sip of her drink and let her eyes roam around the room. All around her were the pro heroes she looked up too since she was young and now she was one of them. She tried to keep up in her friends conversations, adding in her own two cents every so often but for the majority of her time she had just been people watching.
Another sip of watery rum coated her throat, her eyes had traveled to another section of the filled area and she instantly recognized the group. Spiked up red hair, a familiar black streak on blond and the jet black hair all belonged to the sensation trio of Kirishima, Denki and Sero. It wouldn’t have bothered her to see them, no she loved her friends and even offered a small smile as Denki waved to her but she knew that with the tight knit pack of them came another member. She desperately tried to avoid contact with him but the crimson eyes of an explosive hero caught her in a trap she couldn’t avoid.
Uraraka tensed up and felt her stomach turn in on itself. That crumbling building in her chest had collapsed once again and the depressed wave she kept pushing down was rising at an unsteady rate.
The memories came flooding back as he tore his eyes from hers and yelled something at his friends. All that pain, all the suffering, was because of him.
It was all over the news when the public learned about the private relationship of Uravity and Ground Zero. Every tv station, interviewer and reporter tried to get their hands on the couples life. They had become a dynamic duo and fans everywhere were heavily invested in their relationship. They got support and hatred from every side but tried to keep it as private as possible, Bakugou didn’t want the media up their asses and Urarka enjoyed their life behind closed doors.
He was sweet and kind in those private hours. The whispers he would leave on her skin drove her wild and they had adapted to a semi-domestic lifestyle. He was everything she wanted, yet it ended all too fast.
The world seemed to stop the moment Bakugou pulled the plug on them, leaving fans and even their close friends in the dark, even Uraraka herself. If it wasn’t bad enough for their hard break up after two years of bliss, the tabloids hounded down on the young heroes. Bakugou easily got rid of them but for the pink pro hero, her lips were sealed but her face gave away every detail. She became tormented by the public and instead of asking her about the rescue or mission she finished, Ground Zero was the only thing on anyone's mind.
She had been in past relationships and they had ended as well, but this one seemed to burn into her heart and scar her beyond belief. It was pure tourture to hear the words be uttered from his lips as he turned and left her in the dust, no explanation of why he did it, no signs, nothing. It was like the last two years didn’t happen and he was blowing her off just like he had done to others in their years at UA. Even after six months, she was still completely in the dark.
So when their eyes locked, he quickly looked away and grumbled, turning on his heel and heading for the back door. She felt a tug in her heart, like a repeat of the event. She hadn’t seen him since that dreadful night and she must have been hit with Ms. Jokes quirk if she actually thought she was over him, what a cruel joke that was.
She had given him space and all the time in the world, hoping that he would come back to just say why he did what he did, he owned her that at the very least, right? But he never did.
Her fingers tightened around her glass and her vision turned red.
“Does he really think he can just walk away again?” She thought she whispered but she turned her head to see a very worried Todoroki taking the glass from her hand and setting it back on the table.
“I don’t know what exactly went down but maybe you should make him talk-” Todoroki started but she was already storming after him.
“I think that's her plan.” Tsyu chimed in as they watched her leave.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen her this angry before.” Deku shivered and the group agreed.
“She has the anger in her eyes, one that resembles my hatred for my father.” Todoroki stated.
“Babe please.” Deku sighed as he tried to stuffled his laugh.
--
“Hey Uraraka!” Denki called as she marched past. She wasn’t in the mood for another chat but they intersected her walk way.
“Hi boys kind of busy right now.” She muttered but Kirishima’s hand on her shoulder made her relax a little.
“Hey, we are on your side.” The redhead offered a small smile. “He never gave us an answer and you know how persistent we can be.” Kiri gestured between the three of them.
“Rip him a new one!” Sero cheered and for some reason the encouragement of her friends made her quest to find the blond bastard even more prominent.
 --
The cool air of the evening pricked her skin the moment the double doors opened, she didn’t realize how stuffy it was inside and kinda thanked him for walking out here instead of another room. Anger pumped through her as she promised herself not to cry. She deserved to know why he left her and she was going to get the truth.
She stood at the center of the garden. Spinning around in her dress and heels wasn’t the most comfortable thing in the world but she ignored the shifting in weight as she walked towards the hedge maze trying to catch up with the explosive hero.
After walking around for about ten minutes, she finally caught the back of who she was looking for. Determination was coursing through her veins as she caught up with him. He looked peaceful as he walked on, his glass was still in his hand and she didn’t know why that pissed her off more.
“Bakugou.” His name felt forigen on her tongue and when she shouted it, she could see the man's shoulders tense but he made no sign of stopping his pace.
Annoyed, she called him again. A bit more fire to her tone but he refused to turn around.
“Ugh” Her temper was rising, something a certain someone had rubbed off on her. Looking around she saw a big rock next to a tree. She bent down as best as she could, ignoring the way her dress rose up. Her strength had tripled since UA and she lifted the massive rock with ease, even in her four inch heels. A small grunt escaped her lips as she hurled it at him until it hovered above him. She had activated her quick on it.
“Release!” She commanded and the piece of Earth plumented in front of the blond and blocked his path.
“What the fuck! You could have killed me!” He jumped back and blasted it with his own quirk. Finally he turned and although that's what she wanted, she wasn’t ready for it.
She didn’t know that the simple act of looking into his eyes would trigger her heart to beat that rapid or for her tears to threaten to release. It was the first time in six months that they had looked into each others eyes this closely, and it was beyond painful. The memories of their arduous past hit her hard and her head began to spin into the whirlwind of emotions he had caused her.
Every since that day she refused to even look at him in the media. Every poster with his face, new story or interview was kept from her eyes. She had a constant reminder of him and she hated that she couldn’t escape him, even if it was just his image. Avoiding him was the only way to heal but the wound was still bleeding.
“What?” He spat. His signature scowl was rested on his face and he seemed more on edge than usual.
Her fists curled at her side. “We need to talk.”
“There's nothing to talk about” He huffed but they both knew it was a lie.
“All I want is an explanation.” Her voice grew solid and she stood firm. “That's it.”
He thought about it for what seemed to be an eternity. “No.”
“W-what?” She stuttered. Disbelief could not describe the situation. “No? Why?”
“Because I don’t have too.” He bit back as he took a swig of his drink and turned on his heel to continue into the maze.
His tone antagonized her. Did he not have any remorse? Was their relationship nothing to him? There was too much pain in her system. She felt like she would combust of rage and she wasn’t leaving until she got her answer.
“You’re a fucking coward you know that?” She screamed. “You’re pathetic if you can’t even answer a simple question.”
“I’m not a coward Cheeks.” He shot back in a growl and her heart twitch at the sound of her old nickname. “Just leave me the fuck alone.”
Her eyes widened as she watched him leave and her armor fell. Panic settled in and she would curse herself later for being weak, but right now, she needed to know. She could feel herself slipping away. She was still angry at him but her desperation got to her core. Before she could think, her arm was on his pulling him towards her. “No.”
“Bakugou, please.” She pleaded. She couldn’t take it any longer as she felt her tears break and slide down her cheeks. It was mentally killing her.
Night after night she had stayed awake trying to figure out why he had left. She couldn’t understand his reasoning and everyone said that time would heal it but they were wrong. It kept creeping up on her and startling her, destroying the confidence she worked so hard to build, the one he helped create. She broke herself apart, ruined and lost herself in tears and became reckless in her fights. The missed calls and unread messages drove herself mad and she begged for him to come back to her. It was pure hell and right now, she was with the devil.
She couldn’t let him leave, no, not without the truth. At the last moment she stuttered. “I'm sorry.”
The minute the words left her lips, his muscles tensed under her grasp. “What the hell are you sorry for?” His body turned and he faced her.
She didn’t expect that. She thought he would say something like ‘good’ or ‘you better be’ but he didn’t. Instead he looked at her like he was reading a map of solving a puzzle, he was trying to solve her and unravel her question. “What do you mean by that?” He demanded but there was no bite, it was honest.
The back of her hand came to her face to wipe away the tears and break her sniffle that escaped. She took a breath of air and brought her eyes to the ground, now it was her avoiding him.
She shook her head and looked around as her lip quivered.
“For not being a good girlfriend.” Her voice was a meek whisper but he heard it clearly.
“I'm sorry that I wasn’t enough for you. I'm not mad that you broke up with me but I understand that I'm the reason and you’re right.” She let out another sob and turned around. “You don’t have to tell me. You don’t have to tell anyone. ``I-I’m just sorry.”
As Bakugou watched her tears spill, his gut twisted up so tight, he thought he might throw up. Nothing has ever made him feel less than being the reason why she cried and even though she had acted like she was fine, he could tell the past few months had been tearing her down and she wasn’t alone. She was right, he was a coward.
In all honestly he had seen her in the news. He watched as over the months her body had grown smaller and her face had paled. Those night she spent crying herself to sleep he spent staring into an endless void. A void that he wanted to be sucked up into.
“Uraraka.” He whispered and his hand reached out to grab hold of her arm. “Do you actually think that I broke up with you because of you?” He asked and she could hear the crack in his tone.
“There’s no other reason.” She sobbed out.
“Well you’re not the fucking reason so forget that stupid shit.”
Her eyes met his again and the scene was almost unbearable. She ripped her hand from his.
“Then why Katsuki? Why? Why did you ruin a good thing? Why couldn’t you just tell me-“
“I’M NOT GOOD ENOUGH!” He yelled, face turning red and tears slipping out the sides, his back turned in shame. It was a confession he had been holding on since that day and only now were they both hearing it.
She took a step back. It wasn’t his outburst but the words that shook her to her core.
“Good enough?” She whispered and she saw it now. She could see the truth written on his face and light puff under his eyes. He had been crying himself to sleep every night since then, she was sure if it. She knew him better than anyone else.
“Im. Not. Good. Enough.” His teeth clenched and he didn’t trust himself.
She couldn’t tell if she was heartbroken from the actual break up now or for his reasoning. The pain and doubt was stamped on his forehead almost in big red letters. Bakugou reeked of confidence but right now there wasn’t a drop in him. Just a hollow shell of vulnerability. A shell of a great man she once loved.
“Katsuki” He felt her delicate hand on his shoulder and all he wanted to do was spin her around and tell her he was sorry. “You were more than enough.”
He was used to praise and people telling him he was the best, that’s why he stood at the number one spot but coming from the woman he caused too much pain too, he couldn’t believe it. He didn’t deserve to believe it.
“No I’m not. You deserve someone better than me. I’m not soft and sweet like Deku or polite and poise like Iida. Hell I’m not even as funny as Dunce face.”
“I know.” She stated. “That’s why I dated you.”
He finally turned to face her, a solid look on his face and she gave him a small smile through her tears.
“I dated you because you were the first person to believe in me. You made me feel powerful and strong. You gave me this confidence to be a great hero. And never once did I ever think you weren’t good enough for me. Only I get to make that decision and I was by your side because I wanted to. You were my everything”
“Ochako, I-Im not this sunshine kind of guy. You are this perfect, kind and loving woman and I’m, I’m just a pro hero with a good quirk.”
She took her hand back and turned. “Even in our darkest moments you made me feel loved and cherished. Standing next to you during our work was some of my proudest moments, because when they pushed me down and made me out to be only a love interest, you saw me as a hero. As an equal. And I attached myself to the thought that I was.”
He stood silently at her declaration. There were thousands of words her could have said. No amount of pleads or whispers could amount for the pain he had caused her. And as if he were a child, all he could muster out was “I’m sorry.”
She nodded. “I know. And it's funny.” She let out a laugh in her sob. “Because even though you broke my heart. I never stopped loving you.”
“I love you.” He said. She felt his arms wrap around her waist and she allowed herself to close her eyes and take in his scent. “I truly am a fucking idiot.”
“Kat, you doubted yourself, its okay.”
“That's not an excuse for everything you went through. I watched you on the news, I saw just how much of a fucking asshole I was! I just wanted to be good enough for someone like you.” He turned her around so she face him. His finger tilted her chin up and he kissed her cheek softly. “I don’t know if I even have the right to ask for a second chance-”
“You were scared, you didn’t cheat on me or do something stupid like that so please for the love of fucking All Might, I forgive you, now kiss me.”
He didn’t need to be told twice. He brought her closer to him, pulling her softly as if she were a delicate flower. Usually he would kiss her fiercely, taking in all of her essence and commanding the space, but that's not what they needed, not now.
She waited for his lips to set on hers, but there was a hesitation as he gazed into her eyes. He brought his hand to cup her face and for a moment he forgot how to breathe. She was beyond perfect and he was an utter fool for ever doubting them, for doubting himself.
“Kat.” Her whisper brushed his lips and their proximity brought him back to those days.
The days they would spend tangled up between the sheets, lavishing in each others presence and even if the world was crashing down around them, their little slice of heaven was perfect.
She felt the heat of his tears fall down his face and he pressed his lips to hers. It was soft and delicate, like testing the waters again. But as seconds passed on it was like the world clicked into place.
A soft moan escaped her lips as he deepened the kiss. All thoughts of uncertainty vanished from his mind and was replaced with the pureness of tranquility. Their bodies pressed unfathomably closer together like the pull of a cosmic force.
They pulled away but their lips still brushed as they regained their breath.
“I love you so fucking much.” He muttered against her lips. “There's nothing I can say or do to make up for those months.”
Her arms wrapped around his neck. “You can take me to dinner.” She grinned. “And tell me how pretty I am.” She batted her long eyelashes playfully.
A slight smile grazed his lips, one that practically melted her on the spot. It was a tad unusual for him to be this soft and quiet, quite a contrast to his explosive and lavish personality.
“Yeah dinner sounds good.”
She could sense the hesitation on him. It was foreign for him and she didn’t enjoy it either.
“Katsuki listen to me.” She sighed. “I know you are overthinking everything. You feel horrible for what you did, and you should.” She mumbled the last part. “but-I forgive you. I don’t want this to hang over your head so please honey, I’m okay.”
“You’re so fucking good with words.” He grumbled as she pecked his cheek.
Heat rose to her cheeks. “You’re much better at expressing your feelings other ways.” She avoided his eyes and the response clicked in his head.
“Geesh Cheeks if you wanted me to fuck you all you had to do was ask.” He winked and although it was dirty, she was glad that his playful attitude was coming back.
She slapped his chest playfully and wrapped her arm around his and began walking. “Dinner first.” She laughed and his signature smirk she loved so much popped onto his face.
“Anything for you.” he stated. “But i need to get your ass back for throwing that rock at me.”
“Hey you didn’t turn around, I had to do what was necessary.” She shrugged and a deep laugh came from him.
“Oh god I’ve missed you.” He said and she could finally feel the building in her heart rebuilding itself.
They reached the edge of the patio. The party was just behind closed doors but they made no rush to enter.
“Ya know Cheeks. We could blow this off and go grab that dinner I owe you.”
“Really? You don’t want to stay for the announcements? I’m sure you want them to call your name for the number one spot just so you can rub it in Deku’s face.”
“Normally I would, but I got my prize right here.” He tapped her nose and a sense of pride rushed through him as her cheeks turned pink. “So what do you say love?” He smirked and she giggled and grabbed his hand.
“Lets go!”
---
The pair ended up in an old fashioned burger joint miles away from the event. It was their best bet to keep away from the cameras and reporters. The last thing either of them needed was for some guy to pry on their relationship, again.
It was like no time had passed since their break up. Bakugou shoved a few fries in his mouth as he watched her eat her burger. Underneath the table, their legs were slightly tangled and he realized just how much he missed her presence.
They enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and the comfortable silence between them. The ring of her cell phone brought them out of their daze and she wiped her mouth and answered it.
“Hello?” She said and Bakugou could barely hear the mumbling of the voice on the other line.
“Oh yeah, no I’m okay. yeah , yeah I’m with him. No, we left. Uhh an hour or two ago-Deku you’re talking too fast.”
The phone was snatched from her hand and he pressed it to his ear.
“Oi Deku you’re ruining our date nerd.”
“Kacchan.” Deku gasped on the other line. “You better be making it up to her got it?” He said sternly.
Bakugou eyebrows raised and he locked eyes with the woman across from him. “You have no idea how much I’m going to make it up to her. You need to kick my fucking ass for all that time.”
“I’ll do it.” he heard Todorkois voice in the background and he held back yelling at the duo haired bastard.
“But I will say this one time, and one time only. Thank you.” Uraraka furrowed her eyebrows at his statement. “For taking care of her and being by her side. I couldn’t forgive myself if anything were to happen to her. You’re a good friend nerd and I promise I’m going to make sure her smile never leaves her face every again. Now shut the fuck up and leave us alone.” He ended the call harshly and slid her phone back to her.
Normally she would scold him for being an ass to their friends but her heart was thumping at his words.
“I mean it Cheeks.” He took his straw between his teeth. “You’re never gonna have a frown again with me.”
She felt the tears prick the corner of her eyes and she nodded. The check was placed on the table and he threw a chunk of money onto it.
“Now let's go back to my place so I can tell you how pretty you are.” He teased her but she took his hand and smiled as he led the way.
She knew that their relationship would take a little time to mend completely but when he placed his lips on her again, everything shifted into place and she felt whole again. She found herself forgetting all the painful and lonely nights. The darkness in her mind was beginning to find its light again. She knew she shouldn’t be rushing in so fast, that maybe she should of made him work for it again but the simple bliss of being around him was much more appealing then spending another night alone.
He could feel her heartbeat against his chest and hoped that she had faith in his promise. He was Katsuki Bakugou, number one hero and never did anything half-assed and his relationship was no different. The taxi brought them to his place and the moment the door opened, their lips never parted.
Her dress was long gone by the time they reached his bedroom and his suffocating tie was being flug by the woman in his arms. He couldn’t remember his own name as her scent filled his lungs and sent him into bliss.
The tension in the room rose when she laid underneath him. Catching her breath from his passionate kisses and he marvel at his love beneath him.
“God you’re beautiful.” he said as another kissed caressed her skin and he flourished in the noises escaping her lips.
In no time he was rocking into her, sending her into purified lust as her back arched to the heavens and she was thanking her lucky stars that she had followed him.
The only noises heard from the depths of their love was the faint pants and praises as he worshiped her body like the goddess she was and never stopped aiding her every desire. It was all about her and proving his worth to the lady that even spared him a glance. She was in control and even if he was above her, she commanded his every move with a lustful gaze and when she caressed his cheek and told him how much she loved him, he came undone and fell back into her hand like putty.
They came down from their high with a mixture of sweat and tears and carefully lifted her up and pampered her as the water from the shower rained over the pair of lovers. After the murkiness from their bodies was washed away, the sheets had twisted over them as he held her close to his chest, afraid that she would be gone if he left her go.
“Kat?” She said and he was grateful that she continued to address him with nicknames and endearments.
“Hmm?” He hummed and he tried his best to not let sleep overcame him.
“Does this mean-” She knew the answer but the fear hung over her head but it faded quickly as he brushed his hand on her inner thigh and kissed the back of her neck.
“Oh you’re stuck with me Cheeks.” He growled in her ear and a shiver ran up her spine.
“Okay good.”
“You don’t think I’m going to lose you again right? I’m not an idiot, I plan to marry your sweet ass.”
Her body tensed up and her eyes widened and filled with tears. She quickly shifted until she was hanging over him. He stared up at her with his hands now behind his head and he tried his hardest to not let his eyes lower to her naked form.
“Y-you want to marry me?” She asked and her voice almost gave out.
“Tsh of fucking course I do, that was my plan the first time…” He looked away as red formed on his cheeks.
She brushed a piece of hair out of his face and his expression softened from the gesture. “I want to marry you too.” She confessed.
They sat in silence, not knowing what to do now.
“Do you want me to propose?’ He asked her. “Because I got a fucking ring.”
“W-what? N-no not now! Wait you have a ring?”
He was about to speak but she waved her hands in her face. “Wait a minute, wait a minute. Were you going to propose but instead you broke up with me?”
“No I bought the ring a month ago...just in case I won you back.” He avoided her gaze.
“Oh.” She whispered as she sat back.
“And for the record I would never propose like this.” he gestured to their position. “Its tacky and never gonna happen unless its proper and perfect.” He bucked his hips up and she let out a small yelp as she fell forward and their foreheads touched as he grabbed her forearms and brought her close.
“You deserve the best and I’m going to make sure of it.” Bakugou smirked and she bit her lip as she smiled playfully.
“I do deserve the best don’t I?” She teased and all she got in response was a hasty kiss on the lips and a light tap on the ass.
-----
“Thank you so much Uravity!” The woman cried as she held her child in her arms. “I can’t thank you enough.”
Uraraka gave the woman a hug and made sure that they were all okay. She had just lifted a collapsing building off the street that crushed a nearby school and luckily no casualties had occurred.
“You truly are a great hero.” The woman continued to praise her and thanked her once again.
Their conversation ended a little later once the reporters came to the scene. She was extremely proud of herself as it was one of the biggest saves she’s ever done.
The reporter was a tall man and greeted her proudly. Usually interviews weren’t her favorite thing but this time she was patting herself on the back and was proud.
“I’m here with pro hero Uravity! That was quite the rescue!”
“Thank you I-“
“Now everyone is dying to know” he interrupted. “What’s your current relationship status?”
Her face fell and anger boiled inside of her. “E-excuse me?”
“You heard me! Some sources say that you could have many suitors. Rumors say that after your break up with Ground Zero almost nine months ago, you have been seen with him outside of work.”
She was used to this. She was used to her work being pushed aside and asked sexist questions, but today, she was at the end of her rope. A class of children almost got crushed to death and all people wanted to know was who she was banging. Sure she had repaired her relationship Bakugou but that didn’t mean that it was anyone's business since they hadn’t gone public even after three months of dating.
Uravity tried to keep her composure as the reporter kept trying to pry.
“Her relationships are none of your fucking business.” Ground Zero growled as he came up behind her.
“Well as a reporter-“
“As a reporter you should be fucking respectful and maybe ask about the mission she just did. The one where she saved those kids? Yeah so why don’t you shove that mic up your ass and don’t bother her unless you have a serious question.”
The reporter stood shocked at the anger from the other hero. Suddenly a smirk slide on his face. “I think we have the answer to who Uravity is with.”
“Yeah and?” She shot back. “My relationship doesn't concern you and maybe if you cared about the children's lives who were just saved you wouldn't be up in my business about Katsukis and I’s relationship. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go to my job so I suggest you do yours too.” She stormed off and towards the ambulance.
The reporter turned in shock at the announcement of the relationship and Ground Zero smirked triumph at her outburst. “God I love that woman.” He stated but his frown came on as he looked back at the reporter and stomped off.
“Well you heard it here folks! Looks like the infamous pair of Uravity and Ground Zero are back together again!”
Bakugou heard the reporter declare that to the camera but he couldn’t find a bone in his body to care. The world knew now who he belonged too and he couldn’t be happier at the news. He finally found her sitting on the hood of a police car getting ready to take off back to her agency.
“That was quite the statement Cheeks.” He smirked and she sighed and dropped her face in her hands.
“Ugh I feel awful for yelling at him but it's just- UGH.” Bakugou laughed and kissed the top of her head.
“Nah don’t work about that fucker, he deserved it. Plus I don’t think he cares now that he got his answer.”
“Answer?” She asked and looked up at her boyfriend. She paused for a second until it clicked. She jumped to her feet and accidentally activated her quirk on herself “Oh my god Kat I’m so sorry! I didn’t realize I said that!”
He let out another chuckle as he grabbed her arm to keep her from floating away. It had been a long time since she had gotten this flustered but he thought it was the cutest thing in the world. He pulled her down until she gained her composure and whispered “release”.
“Sorry? The world can know for all I care. I just enjoy calling you mine.” He said as he pulled her into a kiss.
“Mmm you're not usually one for pda love.” She commented and he shrugged.
“What can I say, that outburst was hot.” He gave her a devilish grin.
“Oh my god.” She rolled her eyes and pushed him away playfully. “I’ll see you after work, dinner at 7?”
“My place.” He answered and watched as she walked off.
He stood for a while as the clean up crew came to fix all the demolition the villains had caused. After being sent back to his agency, he was currently at his locker pulling off his hero uniform and wrapping his head around the idea that they were “officially” together.
A smile tugged at his lips as he scroll through the images on his phone, each one cuter than the last of his girlfriend.
“Tonight” He whispered and picked up his bag and went to his apartment to get started on the most important meal of his life.
---
“Hey babe.” Uraraka greeted him as she walked into his apartment. “Oh it smells so good!” She cheered as she entered the kitchen and saw the table set with her favorite foods. The table was decorated with a pretty tablecloth and wine glasses filled with red wine. The flames of candles danced and Bakugou stood next to it with a smile on his face.
At first she didn’t notice it. It was hidden among the things but the small twinkle caught her eyes. She let out a gasp and her eyes shot to his. He smirked and her eyes grew dark with desire and small tears. She hesitated at first, not knowing what to do or say but he gave her a nod and that was the end of it.
Her bag hit the floor with a thud as she ran as fast as she could and jumped up, catching Bakugou off guard and sending them straight to the ground. The wind was knocked straight out of him but he didn’t care.
All that mattered was the woman sitting on him.
“Yes! Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!” She cried as she took the velvet box from the table and slipped on the perfectly fitted ring. It’s nicely sized diamond sparkled against her finger and she couldn’t contain her sobs.
She looked down and realized that she had completely trampled Bakugou but he looked as smug as ever. She grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him roughly up until his lips met hers.
“You didn’t even let me ask.” He chuckled against her lips but they both knew this was his plan.
She pulled back from his and let her forehead fall against his. “Then ask.” She said in a breathy tone.
“Cheeks will you marry-“ but he was cut off with another passionate kiss that sent him back to the floor with a smile.
“yesh.” She mumbled as her lips were still stuck to his. “I love you so fucking much Katsuki.”
“I love you too. Thank you for loving me.” he kissed her hand and another sob came from her lips. “Thank you for never doubting me and believing in me when I couldn’t and giving me a second chance.”
“Oh Kat, you will always have my heart. You are my everything.” She kissed him softly as to seal a promise that he had her heart tomorrow, forever and everything in between.

I hope you enjoyed it!!!

I sent Tumblr user rainhadaenerys why she might like the show Dark Angel, and I thought I might as well also post it here since I never shut up about it (for anyone curious)
So, I think there's a chance you might like the show "Dark Angel" (at least the first season. The second season had some good ideas but bad execution. But while most people prefer the first season, the second season fans are more vocal online. Probably because Jensen Ackles is in it).
The first season came out in 2000 and takes place in 2019-2020 (the second season is 2020-2021 and came out a year later, after 9/1 in real life, which is why season two toned down some of S1's themes). The show is about this created/genetically engineered girl, Max, who was designed to be the perfect soldier and who--alongside those like her in her unit, who she sees as “siblings”--was tortured by her military creators (such as her main traitor and surrogate awful father, Lydecker), until she and eleven others of them escaped when she was nine. From there on out, she's on the run, staying under the radar so she doesn't have to go back to where she was created and had been kept (Manticore).
In the year 2009 (the year Max escaped, when she was nine) terrorists set off this electromagnetic pulse, that basically wiped out all of America's technology and turned it into a third world country over night (so this is part of how Max is able to keep her head down in this world). But because of all of this, there was anarchy and bad people overtook the good ones and stole their positions, returning things to the law of the jungle (there's a lot in this show about corrupt political figures, police brutality), etc.
At first journalists tried to report on all of this, but then they were silenced. But one--Logan Cale--went underground as "Eyes Only", an anonymous cyber journalist who hacks into people's broadcasts and tells them the truths being kept from them, and is seen as a terrorist by those he'd try to expose.
At the start of the show (2019), Max works in Seattle as a bike messenger (also in the city where Logan is), which is the worst job you can get and the only one the underprivileged can (many of these being people of color) and steals things from the rich to give to a private investigator trying to help her find her siblings.
Eventually she tries to steal something from Logan (not knowing he's Eyes Only, but she finds this out here). And there's an immediate attraction, because they get into this conversation while Logan's holding her at gun point--trying to keep her there until the guards come--because they realize they have something in common (like admiration for the goddess Bast, which is the statue Max was trying to steal), and Logan is actually happy Max is just a thief because he thought she was an assassin.
This one drug company is acting like they're selling the drug to people--that will save their lives--but is really just selling them candy, and selling the real thing for a higher price overseas. And a woman who knows this is going to testify about it, and Logan is keeping her and her daughter at his apartment until they can get to a safehouse.
Max eventually bolts, and Logan sees her use her powers in doing so. He tracks her down, partly to see if she's going to be a danger to him, but also because the audience can begin to see that he wants to enlist her help. The two of them debate about morality, about how Logan wants to make a change and give people choices again. But Max is skeptical that he wants to get it back to the "good old days", where people still died of diseases they didn't need to and spent obscenes amounts of money redecorating their homes to match their cat. She leaves again when he questions how she jumped out of, like, an eleven story window unscathed.
They meet up one more time, and Logan kind of seduces/tricks Max into letting her see the barcode on her neck (that all those from Manticore have, as its encrypted into their DNA. He’d gotten an anonymous tip about Manticore years ago and put two-and-two together that Max was one one of the escapees), and Max is hurt by this (as she had really liked him and feels hella betrayed here. I think Logan for sure liked her, but he's just way too focused on his mission above all else at first, and that's one of the flaws he has to work on).
He bargains with Max that if she helps him get the woman and her daughter into witness protection, he'll help her find her siblings. Max understandably disagrees, since so far she's gotten by by keeping to herself and wants to keep it that way.
Logan tries to do the mission by himself but it fails. He's shot and ends up in a coma for a time, and is paraplegic in the end. And the little girl is kidnapped, but the mom makes it back to Logan's apartment. Max sees all of this broadcast on TV and feels guilty, and actually goes to see the unconscious Logan at the hospital (and tells him how she's not sorry and sees it all as his fault, even though she doesn't), and saves him from another assassination attempt. She runs into the little girl’s mother (the little girl’s named Sophie) and promises to save Sophie, and does so rather impressively.
She even gets Manticore, that had been on her tail the whole episode, to fight for her--by getting the address for the girl's location on a line that she knew was tapped and that Manticore was listening in on. And there's a chilling moment at the end where Max, wearing a mask, walks by Lydecker while carrying Sophie and he realizes at the last moment that it was her. Edit: They also bring all those who were duping people--and selling them candy, so that they ended up dying because of it:(--to justice.
A few months later, Max visits Logan at his apartment and he's back in the fight for the less fortunate. Max ends up asking if he thinks he can really make a difference, to which he says he thinks he can with her help, and Max agrees to his deal and this is where the show really starts.
And it's just... so good. I like the political commentary, that I could see you really getting into (and I'm sad they tone it down in S2, after 9/11), but my favorite bits is the stuff with Max, Lydecker, her siblings, and all things Manticore that I barely even touched on here.
Most of the transgenics (those created humans) are PoC, too (including Max) to show how they're oppressed.
And Max is just SUCH a good character (who's even a chosen one in S2), with such great development, who has to be one of the best characters of all-time (especially for female heroes).
And in S1, there's so much showing of how men can be awful, and Max is like the hero to women from them (beating up many of them and even killing a few. It reminds me a bit of Daenerys. And is why I say claims against Dany--saying that when she did things like Max, it was hints of her madness--is bullshit. They'd probably do the same to Max if her show had come out today, but it didn't and instead she got to be the awesome hero she deserved to be).
She also eventually stops stealing altogether--even though I was okay with her not being a goody-goody hero--unless it's from the bad and for the poor.
She also becomes a leader...
There's also so much fun swapped gender role stuff with her and Logan (with her being the superhero and him the sidekick, her being the brawns and him the brains--though Max has equal brains, too, if not even more than Logan--and her doing comic book type things, like super speeding away and Logan getting irritated by it: usually it’s a guy hero who does this, and a normal girl annoyed with it... and Logan can even cook exceptionally, and is always cooking for Max, and she can’t even boil water, etc.).
And speaking of which, Max and Logan are my favorite ship of all time. They're so interesting... and fun (but there's loads of angst there, too), and are SO good for each other. Logan helps Max become more selfless (which really, she always was and wanted to be) and she helps him to chill. And they're both liberal lefties.
The first season of this show is my favorite show of all-time.
Edit: The character, Original Cindy, is also one of the first lesbians on TV (maybe even the first, and before Willow in Buffy). And the show tried to have a positive story/episode with a trans character (with, once again, this stuff was huge for the time... There were some definite misses there, but they at least tried). And disabled representation on this show! And the disabled person eventually winning the heart of the superhero girl!

Not The Time (Pt.2)
Summary: After not seeing Bucky Barnes in what felt like forever you find yourself with him in the middle of a chaotic situation. Definitely not the time to reminisce about your past with him.
A/N:  A bit of background on reader and Bucky’s weird dynamic lol. I am really enjoying writing! I really thought nobody would read the first part but thank you so very much for your likes and your reblogs! i am seriously over the moon! So I’m entering this fic to @violentlybarnes nes 3k challenge! The prompt I chose will appear soon!!
PART 1
Tumblr media
You had lost track of the hours that had passed by. Had it been days? Hours? You couldn’t tell as the only thing racing through your mind was helping the maximum amount of people as possible. You had called many of the victims here to attend your health fair. At the time calling this fair had seemed like the right thing to do; to serve an underprivileged community and provided basic health services that they might not otherwise receive. You were so proud of the way your team had come together to organize the event to the very last detail. You were sure that you would be making a positive impact in their lives and yet now here you were treating victim after victim for wounds that would have not been inflicted on them if only you hadn’t called them to this hotel. If only you had just decided on another date or another place.
You had been under pressure before. You were a doctor, so of course you had dealt with pressure. You had never dealt with guilt as a doctor, though. How could you treat the very same people you had basically summoned to this damn explosion? It was hard not to focus on this. So hard to look into the eyes of those wearing those little buttons your team had prepared for them to wear during the fair. Those brightly colored buttons that Maya, good friend of yours and surprisingly talented graphic designer, had so proudly designed. How could you come up to them and treat them for wounds they wouldn’t have received had you simply not organized the fair?
You felt your body drain from all energy as these thoughts just kept going through your head. You had no energy left to hold them at bay.
“Doc? Maybe you should take a break. We can handle this while you rest. There’s plenty of us here,” you heard Josh, a member of your team, say. He looked at you with worry in his eyes that grew as the time passed by and he saw you running from one patient to the next without stopping. His brow furrowed as he tried to keep his voice low and almost calming, like he was actively trying to lull you to sleep.
You turned to him and smiled weakly, “No, I’m good. I can keep going.”
“Oh, trust me I know you can,” he chuckled, but you shouldn’t force your body like that. Trust me. Go rest for a bit. It’ll be ok.”
“You sure?” you asked.
“Yes, come on! Have some faith in us,” he laughed.
“Ok, ok! I’ll go. I’ll be back in 15 minutes, though, so start your stopwatch because I won’t be gone for more than that!” You turned to walk away as you heard his quiet laugh. Hoping to find some place to sit down and close your eyes for a while you scanned the area you were in. There were rows of victims laying down or sitting down. As they waited to be taken to a proper hospital you and your team had been administering first aid on the wounds they had on their bodies.  You continued to scan the area and then you caught sight of a far away corner where an almost fort had been created as people had pushed away some unneeded medical supplies and machines to create room for more victims. You hopped onto what seemed like the comfiest chair you had ever sat down on, leaned back on the wall, and finally closed your eyes.
You HAD woken up 15 minutes later like you had promised Josh but he had formed an alliance with the rest of your team. They worked together basically blocking you from returning and instead sent you off to get some food. Annoyed, and secretly very grateful, you had left the triage and walked to whatever store you could find that was open.
You walked a bit until you found a little deli that seemed to sell very appetizing sandwiches. How long had it been since you’d eaten? Time was still fuzzy. As you went into the store you heard the little bell over the door and saw the cashier turn to you. He greeted you quickly with just a nod of his head and he turned back to look at a tv that hang on the wall beside him. The news was playing and they had images flashing on the screen of the explosion and what seemed to be interviews with witnesses and authorities. You froze as you realized what other images the news was displaying. The Avengers were here, you’d almost forgotten, so of course the news played images of them entering the hotel and helping victims out. You watched as Sam flew across the screen with Tony. Then you saw as Bucky appeared on screen, carrying wounded victims out and towards safer grounds.
I’ll come find you when this is all over.
He had promised and you let yourself think about him for the first time since he had uttered those words.
It seemed the Avengers were still figuring it all out. They were probably chasing down leads on the possible culprit. You walked up to the cashier and handed him the sandwich you had picked out, with a few others and some snacks for the people back at the triage. You handed him some money and he hurriedly handed you back the change wanting to get back to the news as fast as possible. You thanked him and walked out of the deli.
On your way back to the team you couldn’t help but have your thoughts wander off to Bucky. Was he ok? Had he rested? Had he eaten? He was a super soldier but that had never stopped you from worrying. Even after all this time you couldn’t stop worrying about him.
You kept walking and your mind wanted to make sure you couldn’t think of anything other than him. You hadn’t let yourself freely think of him in a while so when your mind noticed your wall had come down it flooded you with thoughts of Bucky.
Your mind flashed to the time you met him. He had come into a tiny restaurant back in New York with Steve and Sam in tow. You frequented the restaurant as it reminded you very much of the food your mother made. You had heard Sam’s loud laugh and had looked up from the book you were reading.  You couldn’t help at becoming starstruck at the trio that stood in front of you. Of course, you had immediately recognized them. Who hadn’t heard of Captain America, The Falcon, and the Winter Soldier? People under rocks, that’s who.
“Quiet down guys! Come on!” Steve chastised them. “People are trying to enjoy their food.”
You had secretly hoped they took the table next to yours because, who are we kidding, they were gorgeous and a delicious meal with a nice view wouldn’t hurt anybody. To your incredible luck, they did! They pulled out their chairs and a waitress, who obviously had the same reaction as you, handed them their menus.
You sat at the table beside them waiting on your food and subtly observed them by peeking over your book.
“My name is Sasha and I’ll be your server today,” the waitress introduced herself as she blushed, “Let me know when you’re ready to order.”
“Thank you,” all three of them replied.
They began scanning over the menu while quietly talking amongst themselves. You saw as they all looked over the menu bouncing options off each other.
“I think I’ll get the steak. Simple, easy, can’t go wrong with that,” Sam announced.
“Uhh, I’m leaning more towards the salad,” Steve said, “Look this one comes with apples!”
“Barnes, what about you? Any idea?” Sam looked over at Bucky who sat across from him.
Bucky shook his head, “No, I’m not sure yet. Nothing sounds good.”
“Well hurry up! Sasha will be back soon,” said Sam.
Just then your waiter arrived with that glorious bowl of soup you had ordered. A simple bowl of chicken noodle soup had sounded so delicious and you couldn’t deny yourself that small treat. The waiter placed your bowl down and the aroma quickly filled your senses. You put down your book and took a deep breath. It smelled amazing! This soup was never bad to you. It always hit just the right spot. You thanked your waiter as he began walking away.
“That looks good,” Bucky whispered to Steve as he subtly pointed to your bowl, “But where the hell is it on this menu?”
“Ask her, she ordered it she has to know where it is.”
“No, its fine. I’ll find it myself.”
“Dear Lord just ask the girl! Sasha is coming!” Sam butted in.
“Fine!” you heard Bucky’s loud reply.
You turned towards them at this loud response and Bucky cringed a bit. Sam could be overwhelming sometimes, and he couldn’t help but yell at him sometimes.
“Sorry, ma’am?” he shyly asked you as he leaned to close the distance between you a bit, “Sorry to bother you but your soup smells amazing and I can’t seem to find it on the menu.”
Steve looked like a proud dad. Bucky talking to strangers was a marvelous accomplishment and he looked at his friend with a smile on his face.
“Oh, yeah!” you laughed, partially out of nervousness because OH MY GOD SERGEANT BARNES WAS TALKING TO YOU. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t almost swoon at his voice. He was so handsome, and your heart ached for everything he had been put through. “Its actually not on the menu. You can just ask for it, though, and they’ll make it for you.”
“Why don’t they have soup on the menu?” Sam asked, “Its not like some super-secret food nobody knows about. Cool foods go on the secret menu, not soup!”
You laughed, “I don’t know, actually. I come here a lot and wanted soup one time and noticed it wasn’t on the menu. I just asked, and they made it for me.”
“Weird,” Sam added.
“Thank you. Sorry for bothering you,” Bucky said.
Sasha arrived back at their table and you heard Bucky order for the soup you were eating. A little smile threatened to appear on your lips. The Winter Soldier had just asked for a bowl of soup after timidly asking you about it. The whole thing just seemed adorable for some reason to you. You picked up your book again and continued to read it. A few minutes had passed by when you heard whispers from the table next to you.
“My god, ask her!” You heard Sam say again. You turned back to them again and this time Steve cringed a bit.
“Sorry ma’am, I know we bothered you before and you probably just want to eat in peace but your book,” he pointed, “ I heard a bit about it,” Steve asked with a hint of a blush on his cheeks.
“Yes, it’s called Homegoing, I think it was on the New York Times Best Sellers list a while ago. My name is Y/N, by the way” you replied with a smile hoping to keep him from calling you ma’am again. This could not be real! You could not be talking about an amazing book with Captain FREAKING AMERICA just after talking about soup with BUCKY BARNES AND SAM WILSON! What was this day?
You spent the rest of your time talking to all three about books. They all shared their favorites and you also recommended a few of your faves. Bucky spoke a bit, but he mostly observed. He noticed how kind you were and how fondly you spoke about books. He saw how your eyes seemed to light up when you shared your book recommendations and how they seemed to exude warmth as you looked at him and his friends. Their food arrived, and he felt the soup you had recommended pulled him towards you even more. It had been a while since he had felt a connection with another person that was not Steve or Sam. He couldn’t deny he thought you were beautiful and loved the sound of your voice. He had just met you and barely knew your name, and couldn’t understand why, but he knew he felt there was something there. Maybe, if he just hoped it enough, he could have you feel it too. He couldn’t get his hopes up, though. He was still overcoming his past and it was not the time to think about anything else. He wouldn’t think about it, but maybe he could hope for it. It wasn’t the same thing, right? He looked on to you as you laughed at something Sam had said. He replayed what you had said earlier, “I come here a lot” and stored it in in his hope chest.
Not the time, but maybe someday.

When We Collide (Part 40)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Assistant!Y/N/CEO!Luke
Rating: NC-17
Masterlist: Here
Summary: He is the definition of high class smart ass, swimming in Dom Pierre Pérignon champagne and has never seen the shadow of poverty. She is underprivileged, lives in a messy dorm room on sale and struggles working as an assistant after being thrown out of college. But how will they collide when Luke makes Y/N pregnant after a drunkenly one night stand
When We Collide on Wattpad
“Air Canada Flight 759 just landed in Newark Airport. Remember your luggage and we wish you a pleasant stay in New York.”
The female voice over the speakers almost sounded mechanical. In every airport it was a different voice but this was all too familiar.
You looked up at Luke who threw his bag over his shoulder after grabbing it from the conveyor belt. When the female wasn’t speaking she was replaced by calm music that could compare to something from an elevator.
“You need any help?” You asked just to be sure but he shook his head quickly and headed towards the exit.
There was no place like home.
If a plane flight could have been compared to a roller coaster this would have been the right one to get the tingling burning sensation in your stomach.
With a 25 hour planned flight with only one stop in between in Toronto, you would have sworn it wouldn’t be able to get through. With the mix of turbulence and a kid screaming at row 53 it didn’t even matter if you were sat at first class.
That kid was able to scream at the top of either his or hers lungs until blood would leak from your ears.
It didn’t help that Luke clumsily had spilled wine all over his pants during the bumpy ride. You weren’t even the one to laugh because after attempting to take a nap for twenty minutes you had given up completely.
Safe to say, you were both lacking sleep and it was shown by the way you were acting towards one another.
“Have you called Patrick?” You had probably asked this for the fifth time but the lack of sleep erased your memory. Better ask more than once than forgetting about it all.
“He said he would figure out what to do. It’s afternoon even though in our minds it’s something way different,” He ran a hand through his hair and ran it down his tired face afterwards.
“Hopefully our body will fight the jetlag soon. Otherwise I won’t be able to meet up for work tomorrow.”
You stopped in track by his words and made sure to block his way from walking forward.
By the way you were looking at him he could tell that you didn’t think it was a good idea. You had the whole weekend off where he barely needed to work and after so many hours on a flight the last thing he could do was to go back and sit in front of his laptop and desk.
“Y/N it’s fine.” He commented lowly to the point of just wanting to give up already but he was still stubborn.
“You say that all the time.” You mumbled and once again blocked his way when he started to walk.
It was a good thing there weren’t many around you in the airport. Some still and waited for their luggage while others stood in line to the bathroom or sitting on the benches trying to kill time.
“Because I mean it...” He shrugged like it was no big deal but the bags under his eyes showed differently.
It didn’t change the fact that he had been sitting on the plane for almost twenty hours just making work. It was a luck the plane had internet otherwise you had no idea how he would be able to kill time.
“It’s not my first time catching a long flight and afterwards coming home for work. I’m trained into it. I will catch up with sleep later.” He pressed both hands on your shoulders and carefully moved you out of his way.
“Next time I will use the bump excuse that’s for sure.” You mumbled under your breath and lifted up the handle of your suitcase to start rolling it again.
Luke shook his head by your words and leaned down to remove your hand from the suitcase and without hesitation pushed it away.
You looked up at him with a quivered eyebrow but being too tired to argue about independence you allowed him to take the suitcase. It wasn’t that heavy after all but could be complicated to roll at times when you had to get through a mob of people.
“You want something before we go out?” He asked and you shook your head instantly, “No? Water? Juice? Cold coffee? Anything. When we get out I don’t think we have the time for it.”
You furrowed your eyebrows not understand what he was speaking about but made a final shake with your head. You weren’t thirsty and it wouldn’t take much to make you want to pee.
“Okay, fine.” He nodded his head and sighed heavily as you walked out of the exit doors.
You almost stopped in track and your eyes widened in surprise but it was soon followed by a hand to cover it up.
Blinking lights were coming from everywhere but at first you were confused to what it was. It wasn’t until you heard Luke’s name being repeated you figured out it was flashing lights from cameras and a swoon of paparazzi was standing in front of you.
You looked up at Luke who was standing with a tight line on his lips.
“Care to explain?” You asked, you could tell that he knew just well enough what was going on but still seemed annoyed about it.
The answer to your question was replied by someone else or most likely the high pitched scream of a voice that stood out from every other sound in the large airport hall.
“Welcome home!” Holly screeched and waved what even you could tell was the Thailand flag instead of the Australian one.
You looked up at Luke again sincerely hoping it was all just a joke. You were too tired for this, you were too tired to even start a conversation with Holly just the sight of her made you want to turn around and take the plane back to Sydney right away.
“I have to.” Luke sighed and let go of his luggage to stop everything in track and prepare for the welcome home hug the paparazzi was desperately waiting for.
You wanted to just yell at him right away that he didn’t but you just shook your head in disbelief and crossed your arms. There was no way you would be joining this so instead you planted your ass on the suitcase and watched from the side.
“Long time no see, honey.” Luke greeted and wrapped his arms around Holly.
You were so sure your eyes would be ready to fall out because that was how many blinking lights there were. You knew it was all set up because it wouldn’t catch such attention unless the word had been spread.
“How are things going with the two of you?” An interviewer asked, clearly desperate to get his job done.
“I’d say pretty great.” Holly smiled and looked up at Luke just to get confirmation and he did with a nod.
“Things are definitely going forward.” He agreed and kept the arm around her.
“What about your small trip to Sydney Luke? What separated you apart?”
You almost wanted to roll your eyes by how much they wanted to dig into it. Nobody wanted to read about them in the magazines anyways.
“Well to make sure I full filled my job and Holly also got a bit of time with herself I decided to bring along my assistant Y/N instead. She’s always there for me when I need it and I thought she might need a bit of a break during her pregnancy.”
By the mention of you he looked over his shoulder and sent you a glance. You weren’t sure how to analyze it to be honest you had no idea how to read his face.
Attention was drawn towards you but the questions seemed faint in your ears. They were asking about the father, asking how things were going but to be honest the only thing you could feel was a bit of pain in your stomach.
“No questions will be answered about her. For the safe of her privacy.” Luke was quick to say and nodded for you to follow him and Holly.
You looked at him confused but decided to go for it anyways. You had no idea what he had in mind maybe this was just a small entrance welcome thing between them just to show that they weren’t a completely dead couple.
It had been a blessing the last couple of days.
Not having to witness the two of them and it was obvious Luke was starting to grow annoyed with her. He didn’t have the same tolerance he had before and it could take nothing to make him irritated and rejecting.
But now it was like everything had been pushed away and forgotten.
He wrapped his arm closer around her and walked through the paparazzi, a hand in front of his face just to block it out a little bit.
You shrugged off the weird feeling of being completely crowded and followed them behind. You weren’t informed that Holly was going to pick you up you had assumed it would be Patrick as per usual.
What they wouldn’t do for the PR stunts. To be honest you were questioning both your daughter’s life and your own by the thought of having Holly behind the steering wheel.
“So are you ready?” Holly asked but for once Luke looked confused and didn’t understand what she was talking about.
“Ready for what?” He asked back and quivered an eyebrow.
“Come on Luke don’t be silly.” She laughed quietly but you could tell that she was getting tense because he didn’t understand what was going on. People were still standing around you so it wasn’t like they couldn’t hear their conversation.
They were trying to speak quiet but it was obvious ears were everywhere.
“You know what I’m talking about.” She explained with a fake smile and moved closer to his face, “The deal we made with Peter, remember?”
She was speaking as if he was supposed to understand what was going on but he still had a blank face as expression. He sincerely tried to understand what she was talking about but he was clueless.
“Holly I’m not catching up.” He stopped in track and moved his back to let it face the paparazzi instead.
Unaware of what was going on you nearly knocked yourself into his back but stopped in track to hear what was going on. So much for the lack of sleep because you didn’t understand what was going on around you.
“For god sake Luke! Peter explained that we needed to go out on a date today when you got home because we were ‘apparently’ starting to die out and the news needed some good old fresh stories about us!”
“Out?” Luke had to double check just to make sure what she was talking about, “You want us to go out now?”
He clearly wasn’t up for the idea at all. He was repeatedly trying to open his eyes fully but the puff in them seemed to fight against him. He didn’t want to sound rude because of the people around you but he was having a hard time.
“Yes, we have to!” Holly almost exclaimed but lowered her voice, “Peter told us to! That’s the reason why I came along in the first place besides seeing your pretty face.”
Luke sighed heavily but wasn’t up for the argument. The last couple of months he was taught that he could pick his own fights. This wouldn’t be worth one.
“Is it okay with you?” He asked but you almost wanted to reverse the question.
“Yeah that’s fine...” You shrugged not really feeling like your opinion mattered anyways.
“I’ll appreciate if you just drive me home please and thank you.”
“Oh, we can’t do that.” Holly was quick to reply and you lifted your eyebrows.
“I took the car that my mother gave me for Christmas.” Holly looked up at Luke, “It only has two seats so I can only take you with me.”
Well that was enough to ruin your night even more. At first you believed she only said no because she didn’t want you to tag along at all because of the paparazzi but for once she had a decent apology.
“I’ll pay you a cab.” Luke quickly came up with an idea but you weren’t much for it.
“Yeah I think I will just take the subway. Will make things a whole lot easier.” You shrugged not trying to seem bitter or tired but it was all coming onto you at once.
Luke could tell that you weren’t up for it and he looked over at Holly with a questionable face. He didn’t say anything you could tell he was clearly confused and had no idea how to solve it.
“I don’t want you to go home on your own.” He said more quietly to you than Holly.
“It’s okay. Enjoy your date.” You shook your head and grabbed the handle of your suitcase, “I’ll see you later if I haven’t fallen asleep in the sub.”
He almost wanted to roll his eyes by your attitude but he had learned when you were like this there was no time to argue. You wouldn’t get anywhere with it and in the end it would be completely pointless.
“Call me when you get home.” Luke explained and wrapped his jacket closer to his body after grabbing Holly’s hand to be lead outside.
You nodded your head but didn’t say anything but stared at him turn around. The mob of paparazzi followed quickly outside the door as Holly and Luke left the airport to get to wherever she had planned they would be eating.
A heavy sigh came from your lips because of the sudden silence. Now it was only people’s voices around you and a bit of peace hit you.
Until you felt a weird feeling in your stomach.
It had been coming and going for the day but now it was starting to become worse. You weren’t sure of what it was at first you believed it was only because you had been eating too much but you were starting to question the theory.
Trying to shrug it off you shook your head in disbelief and started to move forward.
Luckily enough there was a get through to the subway if you just walked to the other end of the hall. That way you wouldn’t need to go out and walk in the weather that could never be compared to Sydney.
But that was when you stopped again. The pain grew worse by each time you were becoming rather worried.
It didn’t last for long but it felt like a minute each time. You weren’t sure what was going on but the redness on your cheeks showed your discomfort already.
You bit down on your lip unsure of how to handle it. You were so stubborn you didn’t want to but your hand came before your mind as you were dialing his number quickly on the phone.
“Luke, something is feeling wrong.”
“Yes, something is.”
Looking over your shoulder confused you saw as he was standing right behind you. He was panting a bit spoiling he had been running to get to you, and you moved your phone away from your ear.
“Leaving you now would be the stupidest choice of mine. I told Holly to drive home and quit the date. I think the only thing we will do is to get a cab, drive home together and make sure we’re both as safe as possible.”
His words were kind and came from the heart but they were faintly heard in your mind.
A whine came from your lips and you hovered over your knees to try block it all out.
Luke’s eyes widened in surprise and he quickly placed a hand on your back wanting to know what was going on. It was like his mood changed 180 degrees and he finally understood why you had called him.
“I thought you called to scold at me for the wrong decisions.” He exclaimed and grabbed your hand to lead you to the side by the benches.
“What’s going on?”
“It hurts.” You whimpered and tried to shrug it off. It was clenching and tensing it was hard to describe but it sure was an unfamiliar feeling.
His face literally showed the word ‘again’ and he bit down on his lip as he looked around for any source of help.
“Come with me.” He explained and without doubt you followed him.
At first you had no idea where you were going because it was a part of the airport you hadn’t been at before. It wasn’t until the fancy cirscumstances changed you knew it was the department of business travelers and such.
He was very gentle with helping you sit down on the couch and within seconds he got someone to call over the speakers for a doctor, midwife or anything close to help.
You were amazed how calm he was behaving because at other times he would freak out more than you did.
But there was nothing. It didn’t feel like he didn’t care because you could tell he did he just tried his utter best to show that he was there to calm you down and everything was going to be alright in the end.
“I was called to help.” A voice said as the door opened and Luke stopped in track from standing in front of the water machine.
“Thank you so much for showing up on such short notice.” Luke quickly said and gave you the ice water hoping it would help just a little bit.
“My flight to Transylvania was cancelled so I had some spare time of mine. My name is Andreea and I have a Bachelor’s degree in midwifery, nursing and others in the health-related field.”
You shook your hand in hers and watched her grab a chair and roll it over to sit in front of you on the couch.
“So tell me, what’s going on?” She instructed and made you lie down so she could get a feel of what was happening inside.
“Oh what a kicker.” She was quick to comment after having a feel, “They are active that’s for sure.”
“Yea she loves kicking me.” You agreed and watched as Luke made you lift your upper body so he could take a seat next to you.
Your head fell back onto his lap and you looked up at him to see his eyes fixed on your stomach. He was desperate to wait for an answer.
“Where’s the pain? Is it here, or are we talking about downhill.” She asked and as she did poked you a few places just to get a reaction.
“It’s like right here.” You explained and pointed down at your stomach just to illustrate what was going on.
“It kind of hurts but then it goes away after thirty seconds. It’s not much it happens but now it’s really starting to hurt and I don’t understand if it’s prelabour or what so ever.”
“Do you have your journal with you?” Andreea asked and watched as Luke leaned over to grab your bag, “I assume you do since you’re at the airport and seem pretty close to not being allowed to fly.”
“It’s right here.” Luke explained and gave it to her.
Andreea grabbed the papers and made a scan through it. She wasn’t doing much with her expression and she wasn’t reacting with a furrowed eyebrow so you assumed everything was as it should be.
“Okay seem from where the pain is and how far you are in the pregnancy I’m gonna tell you that the pain your feeling isn’t prelabour and there’s nothing to worry about.”
“But what is it then?” You asked and bit down on your lip a little bit nervous.
“It’s nothing major...” Andreea shook her head and gave back the papers, “It’s what we call Braxton Hicks. It’s when the the muscles of your womb tightens and you can actually feel it when it happens.”
“Oh my god I thought she was going into labour.” Luke more likely whispered to himself but you both heard right away.
“It’s not, but it’s something that makes her prepared for it.” Andreea nodded her head and stood up from her chair.
“But how can I tell the difference?” You questioned and sat up on the couch to stand up.
“Well with labour contractions everything is heightened. It’s more painful, it’s more frequent and it’s more regular. They are noticeably, and increasingly, longer.” She explained as she pulled her jacket over her shoulder and wrapped her scarf around her neck.”
“I think it’s a mom thing. You will know when it comes.” She said the last sentence with a wink and leaned over to shake both your hands.
“Thanks for showing up without any notice. It’s people like you who should be appreciated in this world.” Luke said sincerely and she nodded her head.
“And it’s fathers like you that deserves to be seen instead of the ones leaving their children.”
Your breath hitched in your throat by her words as she waved a final goodbye and walked out of the door.
You stood frozen not really knowing what to do or what to say because it was for one moment that you felt a little bit scared of everything. How would you be so sure that you would feel when it would come up?
“I don’t think I can do it.”
Luke looked up by your words pretty confused by the thing Andreea had said but it was completely pushed back by you.
“Wait what?” He asked just to get you to repeat the words.
“I don’t think I can do it Luke.” You shook your head in and held your hand in front of your mouth.
“I don’t think I can grasp the title of becoming a mother.”
He sighed heavily by your words and leaned forward to get you on the couch.
This wasn’t the first time and far from it. He knew that deep down you were still panicking, there was still something that held you back even though you were looking forward more to this than ever.
“Come here.” He explained and sat down.
You sighed heavily as well and took a seat next to him. He wrapped his arm around you and let your legs be over his lap so you could get as close to him as possible.
“No one says that you will become a mom in just one day. Some has the title from when they are born, some learn with age some learn with realization. Maybe it won’t be until she is in your arms that you will realize but I can promise you one thing.”
You looked up at him by his words and at the same time he looked down at you.
“You will know when you become a mother because it’s right inside of you. And I know for sure that you will grasp every part of it you possibly can to achieve the best for your daughter.”
You smiled softly by his words and at the same time looked out of the windows that showed airplanes ready for takeoff.
“Our daughter.” He said more quietly and leaned his head on the top of yours as an airplane was ready to start and be like a shooting star in the night sky.
