Felt a bit nostalgic watching RT shut down…Here are the og faves again for old times sake 💙

#rvb #agent washington #agent Carolina #lavernius tucker #michael j caboose #epsilon #my art rvb #ahhh a lot of feelings…of course I stepped away from rt as a company a long time ago #but RvB is special to me!! it was my first fandom experience ever #and the community here on tumblr specifically was so instrumental to me growing up #I really could not have asked for a better community of artists and writers to grow up in. I know it sounds like platitudes when I say #that everyone was super nice and talented but REALLY. People were so kind to me and somehow I became well known despite #my art and writing and me in general still being immature and hashtag cringe #I found my creative legs and #people would respond to my stuff with walls and walls of support in the tags and we would do exchanges and events every year #I made my first lyric comic and it’s still doing extremely well on YouTube even today!! my dad who passed away recently always loved it #and my favorite RvB writer came out of hibernation to write me a bunch of text wall asks about it #I’ve never had another fandom experience quite like RvB #I still keep in touch with many of my friends from that time period even though we’ve all moved on the other things #these guys will always always have a place in my heart #so long reds and blues….

so this is the unintentional part two of that summary post i made with geoff talking about the end of achievement hunter. for this post, i'm going to try my best to sum up what michael, trevor, and joe (but not alfredo because he was sick at the time 😔) have said about what will happen in the future on the penultimate episode of off topic, #403. there won't be a transcript this time as i am busy with schoolwork and stuff, so i'll try to make this summary as filled with as much accurate information as i can to make up for it :)

so basically,

trevor starts off by saying they'll be doing the last of various series to wrap everything up. he also notes that some of these finales will be "more nostalgic"

one of the series finales that's up right now is vs episode #150: joe vs BK. the game they played is cooking mama!

after the series finale of off topic (#404 lol), the final AH video ever will be a let's play in the remastered version of burnout paradise, and the cast will consist of geoff, jack, trevor, and michael. this is a callback to the first ever AH video they did back in 2008, and it's already been filmed! trevor says it was more emotional then he thought it would be :')

michael explains that the video will essentially be a ~70-minute podcast. in it, they'll talk more about the end of achievement hunter, where the cast members have went/what they've all moved on to, and new projects that they'll working on. he also says that he thinks that people will call this video "cathartic" while comparing the vibe to their old gta v series, sunday driving

not as important, but michael said that he was mindlessly driving and turning in burnout paradise in the same way that he'd run and jump in minecraft because he "fucking hated" playing minecraft lmfao

as said before, they decided to close AH and start something new with dogbark instead of continuing like they used to. michael acknowledges that in the last few years, most of the crew had already left rt in some way or moved on to other stuff within the company, leaving just michael, trevor, alfredo, and joe as the most consistent on-screen talent by the end. *bonus bit that wasn't mentioned until later, but alongside these 4, jarren from the post team will be their channel manager for dogbark :)

as this group makes videos for dogbark, michael says that their stuff will be both "tonally different" and "very fluid" as they're still figuring it out as they go, noting that they were balancing it and AH/let's play content at the same time

michael also talks about how he's been doing what he's wanted to do at AH for a long time, but there were some things he still couldn't do within the constraints the AH crew had put on themselves

while there will be some gameplay stuff on the dogbark channel, as mentioned in this episode and the channel trailer, they will primarily focus on live action content. trevor makes a point by saying that the style/theme in the trailer will "not be pervasive throughout the entire brand", and michael adds on to that by saying the trailer "is at 100, but every video won't be at 100"

michael and trevor make a point by saying that there will be more variety, as in "a dozen little formats", not necessarily like the shows/series they made at AH, with joe saying that they're not trying to "tie themselves down" to strict uploads and such, like they were when they were previously fitting into a mold at AH

trevor says that he has seen achievement hunter, and rooster teeth as a whole, having a unique challenge ahead of them. he refers to making content that appeals to an audience who had been following them since the early days while trying to also find new faces, both out there in the audience and internally at the company, in order for AH to stay around

he also points out how difficult it is to do that with a long-standing brand that has had different eras of content, since there would be an audience with differing expectations for them. with that, it became hard for the AH crew to balance said expectations with the authenticity they tried to show in the content they created. the crew has changed as people alongside their audience, and the stress that came with it was challenging

michael stresses that the group not only chose to make a new channel completely, they also had to fight for it for a while, and wanted to slow down on AH content before properly closing/archiving the channel to create dogbark. beyond the struggles of creating something new from scratch, they now have the challenge of preparing the audience for the jump from AH to dogbark while thinking about all the pros and cons before going forward

this week (the week of september 18th) and next week (the week of september 25th) are the last weeks of new AH content. after that, there will be a 1 or 2-day break before dogbark properly starts making new content on october 2nd. trevor feels like people will get a better idea of what dogbark is after a month or two of them uploading content

finally (subject to change, of course), they want to aim for full uploads every monday and friday, with patreon-like exclusive videos with rt first every wednesday and saturday. one of the confirmed things to expect is a first-exclusive podcast. the first week dogbark officially starts, all that content will be public as a sample of what to expect, and every week after that will follow that schedule

okay something I need to mention about the ending of Rescue Team

When you first encounter Rayquaza and he attacks you, he does so because he believe that Pokemon that cant fly should stay on the ground, and that the opposite holds true aswell. He even boasts about having never once descending to the ground and having vowed never to do so.

BUT

Once he realizing about the Big Freaking Meteor that you came to ask for his aid about, he immediately asks if you are certain because you might die if he breaks it at this range. The guy does a compete 180 once he realizes he messed up.

Theres also the fact that after getting dragged through the afterlife(???) by Gengar (who may or may not be trying to save you? idk its vague) you just wake up back at the Great Canyon.

So not only did Rayquaza purposely ignore Hero and Partner's (+ potentially Absol and/or Magnemite) plea for help, but once he did realize why they were at Sky Tower he showed genuine concern for their safety only for his earlier willful ignorance got them - as far as he knows - KILLED.

you can also recruit Rayquaza and bring him to ground level, thus breaking his earlier vow.

i think that heinrix is probably pretty vain about his appearance

there's a line from his fellow acolyte on epitaph that mentions it

and that makes sense to me, given how he saw himself after having his imperial knight implants forcibly removed, which left him missing part of his skull (and with a paralyzed arm), and removing his own psyker implants, which lost him an eye (and gave him nerve damage)

he calls himself a mutilated freak and says that calcazar was only interested in him for his sorcery. heinrix is the one who decided that he'd be more useful if he could look human again because, as he says, he's a psyker

"the very fact of my existence is anathema and can only be excused by my usefulness"

his appearance is a reminder he's allowed to exist. it makes sense he might be a little vain about it

every time rwby stuff gets recommended to me i remember how fucking obnoxious i find it that that fandom has quarantined off all criticism into its own tag. i’m so happy rvb is a hater fandom and we put all our grievances in the main tag i think i’d die otherwise

the thing abt rooster teeth kicking the bucket is that truly is the death of an era. maybe. they can pull a smosh and survive but i seriously doubt it, they're operations are wayy to big to do something like that and they don't have the supportive fanbase for it anymore. ultimately i just hope whoever ends up with the rights keeps the content circulating, and that everyone who just lost their jobs makes it out okay

watching rt come to a close the last two months has been so surreal… i’ve mostly stayed away from some stuff because i’m afraid of the reaction i’ll have (gus, barb, and gav on the last rt podcast + the founders playing halo), but this afternoon is their last livestream and i’m going to regret it if i don’t watch it but i’m tearing up just thinking about it 😭😭 they’ve been a near-constant in my life since i was in high school. it’s gonna be so weird when it’s gone for good

Gengar with Twig because she understands the intense guilt and self loathing that comes from survivors guilt and feeling like a coward for reacting the way a child naturally would in that situation.

And Calypso with Ark because he understands what its like to have an identity crisis of biblical proportions, brought about from thoughts and feelings he felt weren't his.

halo 3-era rvb is definitely the best looking.. this is almost entirely just due to the game itself but like. i dont think the halo 4 armor looks very good, it’s overly complicated and very chunky in a way that looks awkward in machinima, and the colored undersuits are cool in theory but kind of just end up muddling the shapes of the upper body armor.

halo 3 on the other hand looks nice and crisp and clean and i think it does colors really well. everything is vibrant and the r&b’s armor colors really pop, it’s pleasing to look at them all together. i think halo 3 (and by extension halo 2 since they have the same mark vi armor, but halo 2 looks a lot more muddied) also has the best armor design- it’s got clean, clear, pleasing to look at, and imo very fun to draw.

there are definitely some cool halo 4 armors- felix’s scout helmet looks better in 4 than in 3, imo- but you’ve also got like, carolina’s halo 3 rogue helmet being absolutely butchered in 4 and having to be replaced by the recon helmet, which looks Fine but not nearly as cool.

(also, seasons 8-10 had monty oum animation, soooooo..)

however in conclusion halo infinite has the visual advantage over every other game though specifically because you can get kitty ears

#i do also have some thots abt halo 4 rvb’s animation..#like it all has a very weird sense of weight and movement to it #and an overarching awkwardness. like tucker’s run in s12 looking like he has a stick up his ass #EXCEPT for the s13 opening with felix and locus which i think looks a lot better than the rest of 12&13s animation for some reason???#anyways besides the animation stuff this is basically entirely in engine stuff so im not like. this isnt a criticism of rt’s choices in this #particular case. im just talkin

actually used r*ddit for the first time in a thousand years just to comfort a self proclaimed 'grown ass man' regarding his feelings about feeling lost and grieving over the death of RT.

I usually stay away from commenting on public forums and the like, but he was clearly confused and didn't understand why he was hurting and it was frustrating him. it genuinely makes me so sad that a lot of cis men deeply struggle with allowing themselves to feel sadness if it doesn't directly relate to someone close to them dying.

and so I kind of said as much. told him that just because RT wasn't a real human doesn't mean that the decades of comfort it brought him didn't matter. that the brain doesn't differentiate between the loss of a person vs. the loss of something intangible that was still incredibly important.

told him to give himself the grace to grieve and be sad that something he loved was ending and that he wasn't the only one feeling that way. and surprisingly he replied and said he really needed to hear that, as did a couple of other dudes. which made me glad I said something. it sucks that they feel like they need permission or a reason to feel hurt/grief tho

there's definitely a strangeness to feeling grief over the end of media. but if it impacted your life for the better, then of course you're going to feel sad and lost. especially from folks you've been watching the better part of two decades.

#[static]#putting it under a read more because im being long-winded about it #RT was a big part of my life in the 2010s and i met a lot of great people because of it #i stopped watching around 2019-2020 due to life stuff and the controversies going on #but then f**ckface showed up and it's been one of the few podcasts that i genuinely enjoy and make me feel safe and comfortable #the content they made became too much for me to keep up with so i stopped for the most part #but f**ckface was the best of it all and brought me back to the good old days :) its hard to describe but it just felt magical #anyways i think ppl should be allowed to grieve even if there was 'writing on the walls' or whatever #RT is not without its issues for sure but a lot of them grew as people in to genuine good folks and that's awesome #and even though i only partake in a very small part of RT nowadays i too will be very sad to see it go #im going to watch the livestream in an hour and keep an ear out for if folks end up working on new projects
