GENERAL JAX HCS
mix of a bunch of stuff, probably going to be writing random stuff while waiting for requests to come in so i have something to do side note i never actually felt a knot in my neck form, only wake up with them after getting them in my sleep... until today, felt one form right in the back of my neck while i was just. standing and oh my god it sucks so much i hate knots but actually feeling it. develop. right there. sucks more i think anyways this is a mixed bag of just basic jax hcs + stuff that can tie in with other characters or the reader, we'll see since i write these notes before doing anything else
Tumblr media
would this really be a jax hc post by the silly corner if i didnt mention the fidget headcannon? literally the hc that i bring up the most in my posts when theres readers who have accessories or tails or what have you?
i think hes going to mess with anything he can get his hands on; usually passing them between his hands or perhaps tossing them around in the air and catching them.. if its something bouncy hes going to be bouncing it along the ground while he's walking.. i think sometimes with other characters, he does try to mess with them out of habit (plus given how he snatches zoobles arm it kind of. shows hes comfortable doing that sort of thing, you know?)
sometimes messes with ragathas bow, or zoobles antennae (though with zooble its more on purpose and to annoy them).. i think you get the idea
speaking of ragatha i think they would be good friends, i mean i personally think if ragatha didnt like jax she would keep her distance from him (though to be fair we still only have the pilot so far + i think ragatha would still be polite if she didnt like him)
as for his dynamic with zooble i think they kind of egg each other on, but on the rare occasion they do agree on something they do so begrudgingly
i think his ears twitch when hes thinking or when hes irritated, not huge movements... mostly little... twiks, you know?
i dont think he really has fur personally, and if he does its really short and smooth... in my opinion he looks like he would be made of the same material as those small squishy animal toys
Tumblr media
these ones, i got a handful of them and theyre genuinely so soft and squishy, me thinks jax would feel like these things
on the off chance he needs to cook for whatever reason, hes a terrible cook. like i think he can make one meal but outside of that hes a disaster in the kitchen... also doesnt make a good kitchen partner because hes going to think its funny to hand you the wrong thing when you ask him to pass something
malicious incompetence but hes doing it to annoy you and will probably give you the right thing after a few rounds of messing with you
no one is safe from his antics, assuming he and ragatha are good friends, shes still subject to his jokes at the bare minimum
so.... if youre friends with him youre at least going to go through the same thing
i dont think he would be a good secret keeper most of the time. like yeah sure if its something serious and important i think he would put aside his douchbagie-ness for once and keep it
but if its something outside of that? yeah no you're have more luck confiding in caine, who imo would pounce on the opportunity to gossip
probably shouts random stuff, like "hey caine, (reader) thinks youre (insert outrageous lie)!" just to mess with you. does this to other people, usually ragatha or gangle... sometimes does it to kinger, i think... only reason he doesnt do it to zooble is because they will get his ass, and hes giving pomni a 'grace period' before he decides to drag her into his shit
hes an ass but i dont think he would just jump on someone/j
speaking of, while he can be mean to some people i do think he has his limits, like hes not going to kick you while youre already down or make fun of you for something you cant really control or manipulate you by hanging something over your head (see the secret keeping thing, while he will tease you about more basic stuff if its something serious hes not going to do it imo)
you know?
though i do think hes the type to steal something from someone in order to make them talk to him; especially if he has a crush on someone... hes just a little shit like that
has this LOOK on his face when the person comes to retrieve their thing, and tbh... i can also see him waving it around over their head (hes tall, and if they can still reach it he probably jumps.. gets on his toes.. stumbles away and holds them back ect) just to keep them around for just a little longer
whether this is actually successful in getting with the person romantically depends... personally it wouldnt work for me but hey, some people find that behavior endearing and/or will be able to eventually pick up on what hes doing
does not like being vulnerable, this goes for really anything regarding feelings as he thinks it ties in with weakness (spoiler, it doesnt)... probably has a "eeeewww feelings..." mindset (though might still let you vent to him... will act uninterested but if he really didnt care hed just walk away.. more actions than words, this one is)
rarely talks about how he actually feels about things if the feeling in question is anything less than indifference or amusement... though hes not opposed to expressing anger or annoyance... will let you do what you will with that information...
naturally because of him being weird about his feelings, romantic feelings fall into the "eeeeeewww feelings..." category so hes not going to be blunt, again, actions over words here... and even then the actions here are mostly him messing with the person and trying to get them to spend time with him as a result (even if its not... hanging out..)

If you were Kafka, what would you change in BSD
Sorry, this question has been sitting in my inbox for a very long time. I think it’s kinda hard for me to answer this question, because to a certain degree I’m tempted to say “I wouldn’t change anything at all”. Like, for all that I criticize media like Bungou Stray Dogs for various things, I also think that the media we consume shouldn’t be required to be so perfect that there’s nothing to criticize. If anything, criticism is a major part of what drives discussion in fandoms. Moreover, as much as I may feel “Kafka Asagiri shouldn’t have done X”, I’m not really inclined to want to change X about the series? Maybe it’s just because I approach it from the mindset of a reader, not an author, but I think that its OK for me to disapprove of certain aspects of a series, and still not want anything to change about it. Like, if I was given full control to change anything I wanted, it probably wouldn’t be the same Bungou Stray Dogs at all, starting with Mushitarou’s awful hairstyle, BTW. Honestly I might just kill the guy off if it was up to me, I don’t really like looking at his face……. but I digress!
Tumblr media
Having said that, I still do think certain aspects of the series could be changed to better appeal to myself. But again, I don’t want anyone to think that my opinion is more “correct” than what Kafka Asagiri himself decided for the series. This is literally just my personal thoughts on the matter, just like how if it was up to me Oguri Mushitarou and his slimy hair would not exist in Bungou Stray Dogs, even though, objectively, he’s fine and well written and nothing really needs to change about him, except I really want him to sue his plastic surgeon, and his hairdresser, like hello? Way to make a guy look unrecognizable, I guess.
Sorry, I’ll stop trashing on poor Mushitarou. I’m serious though.
The two major changes I’d make are the role of female characters in the series, and also the way that the concepts of self-sacrifice and “honorable suicide” are presented. I think these aspects are the biggest gripes I have with the story, but I also think that, especially in regards to the latter, the series wouldn’t necessarily be the same, or even “better”, if it was changed.
I’ve never really made a post going in depth about how I feel in regards to BSD’s female cast, but I’ve mentioned before that I think the fandom really underrates most, if not all, women in Bungou Stray Dogs. But in retrospect, I can’t really blame it all on the fandom’s general misogyny; the way that Asagiri portrays women in his story doesn’t really do anything to discourage the lack of appreciation for his female cast. The thing is that she’s almost always the side chick. She’s an accessory to hang off of his arm. She’s motivated solely by him, whether that be his goals, or just because she—and it’s never really explained why—is deeply and hopelessly in love with him. Who is this “she”? Who am I talking about, in particular? Literally every female character, barring maybe Yosano, might fit the descriptions I gave above. That’s how bad Kafka Asagiri is at giving his female characters agency.
It’s okay to have a character with a plotline that’s intertwined with another character. It’s okay to have a character that’s motivated by external forces. It’s okay to have a supporting character who doesn’t really do much except move the plot forward. It’s starts to become annoying when all of these characters are women, while their male counterparts get the better end of the deal.
Sometimes I hear people say that Kafka Asagiri is good at writing women, and I think, in response, that shounen anime has truly brought our standards down, six feet under the dirt where every interesting female character to exist in animanga is buried. Yes… Asagiri doesn’t shy away from writing female characters who can fight, and even, gasp! Fight well, but this is literally the bare minimum, especially for a magical setting that takes place in the modern age. Asagiri can create female characters with interesting traits and a lot of potential, then subsequently assign all of her traits to serve a male character’s narrative, while actively sabotaging any potential she had by utilizing her as a plot device.
And maybe I would be less annoyed if it went both ways. Kyouka has saved Atsushi quite a handful of times, why doesn’t he worship the ground she walks on and dedicate his entire life to helping her fulfill her goals? Actually, on this topic, the reason why is because Kyouka doesn’t have any substantial goals outside of being Atsushi’s sidekick for life. Now, I absolutely adore Kyouka and Atsushi’s relationship, found family is still my favorite troupe ever, but it’s noticeable that while Atsushi’s search for self-esteem and a so-called “reason to live” is the literal narrative core of the series, Kyouka, who had found herself struggling with a similar internal conflict, is by comparison, almost never explored further. When was the last time the story checked back up on Lucy, and how she’s feeling? Yeah, she’s in a better place now, but isn’t she still haunted by her years at the orphanage, under the Guild’s thumb, being treated like a pawn on the chessboard, just as so many male characters have been shown to feel in wake of their own traumatic experiences? Doesn’t she struggle to find a new purpose in life, now that she’s no longer stuck doing someone else’s bidding just to survive?
We only ever see a brief glimpse into the thoughts and feelings of BSD’s female cast, before the door slams shut, and they’re relegated to some background role where it doesn’t really matter how she feels, she just wants to help the guy who saved her life, that’s all we really need to know before we can start advancing the plot again. Well, I want to know more.
It would also be great to have more female characters who are motivated by something other than her desire to help or hurt another—oftentimes male—character. How come he’s allowed to delusionally seek world domination, and she isn’t? How come he’s allowed to desperately want to save everyone in spite of a cruel reality, and she isn’t? How come he’s allowed to be motivated almost solely by his selfish need for the validation of another, and she isn’t?
Which brings me to another avenue to consider: characters like Akutagawa and Rampo are shown to be fanatically devoted to another character, to the point that Dazai or Fukuzawa could say “Jump,” and they’d be in the air even before asking “How high?”. But here’s the thing: Akutagawa’s devotion is entirely self-centric, and it’s examined as such. He doesn’t selflessly want to help Dazai, no questions asked, he craves the peace of mind that Dazai’s affirmation would bring about, and consequently does anything he can to gain that validation. Not only that, but it’s portrayed as unhealthy and a problem when Akutagawa blindly does whatever Dazai asks of him, but somehow, this doesn’t apply to Louisa and Fitzgerald, Teruko and Fukuchi? Hmmmmmm!
Simply put, there’s a double standard here, and I’d like it to change, because BSD really does have a female cast with a lot of potential, if only Asagiri cared to utilize it.
***
In regards to Thing I'd Want To Change #2, I remember tag-dumping about this awhile back, but it somewhat bothers me that in order to pass the Detective Agency’s entrance exam, Atsushi and Kyouka were required to put their lives on the line to save another (even though, in Atsushi’s case, it was all staged). This might not have been a problem for me if the Detective Agency weren’t the good guys in this—or even if it was emphasized in some other manner that it’s OK to save yourself first, like c’mon, that’s just common sense, they teach you such in elementary school during a fire drill. But unfortunately, not only was Kyouka’s feelings on the matter never expanded on, Atsushi continues to believe that he needs to save people to deserve to live.
However, I do think that there’s still room for development here. Bungou Stray Dogs is not a completed work, so who’s to say that Atsushi won’t have a different outlook on life by the final chapter? Moreover, I think that in the situation where Atsushi first reached this conclusion (on the subway with Yosano and Kaji), Atsushi was probably in a worse mindset prior. For him, he felt that he wanted to live, but that he didn’t deserve to, so therefore, in order to justify his own existence, he grasped a “reason to live”, a motivation to not simply give up and perish right then and there, alongside a train full of innocent people. It was a very “in the moment” kind of thing, that would serve as a foundation for later developments. Again, I think it’s fine that this is his way of thinking now, but someone genuinely needs to tell this boy that it’s not a matter of “reasons” or whether he deserves to or not, living is just something we do without really thinking about it, so its okay if that he lives in that kind of unapologetic manner.
Still, the Detective Agency’s exam is kind of harsh, yet I don’t think it’s necessarily something I would do away with completely, as much as I would reframe it to better fit the message I would want to send. The thing is that working at a superpowered organization that regularly gets into scuffles with the local mafia is in no way safe, and your life insurance probably won’t cover it when you get magically killed and dumped in the river. So it is understandable if a minimum requirement for becoming a member is that you’re okay with getting caught in life or death situations on a semi-frequent basis. It may also be a desired trait that you’d be willing to rescue civilian lives at little benefit to yourself, though not necessarily always in the context of self-sacrifice. Sure, it’s a crazy way of interviewing for these attributes, but it’s not like people don’t lie on their resume, and also, the Detective Agency was established early on to be full of crazy people. You must be this bugfuck insane to join, if you fail the vibe check you die, sorry!
In all seriousness, I think the concept of living, and in particular, having a reason to live, are a major part of Bungou Stray Dog’s themes, and changing it to suit my own opinions better would probably drastically uproot whatever message Asagiri wanted to send, whatever feelings and opinions of his own that he injected into the characters of Atsushi, Dazai, Kyouka, and the like. Even if I myself do not fully agree with the narrative, I still think its okay to have media that tells a different feeling, shares a different experience, and presents a different opinion.
Anyway, this got really long, sorry I was too lazy to include many embedded pictures to break up the text walls. If you read this far to the end then I appreciate and love you dearly, hopefully I made some degree of sense and didn’t just sound like I was rambling out of my ass.

Those Economics/Architecture Videos I've Been Bingeing
But eating less bandwidth than the previous version of this post.
This post has 100 links, because that's how many tumblr lets me add before it refuses to save the post anymore. (Legacy editor allows up to 250, but then I would have the colors.)
A lot of these are about NYC, because that's my personal main focus, but there are a few others. Also, I have absolutely no training in this field and only started watching these a few days ago but Ya Girl Is Bingeing and Really Loves Edutainment. All the descriptions are my own, btw. I'm not looking to gain clicks or references, I want you guys to know what you're getting into.
I was not involved in creating any of these videos, but it did take me over a week to watch them all and decide which ones to include, how to organize, and how to describe the contents.
I cannot speak to a lot of the deeper issues touched on, and do not agree with all the political or economic points brought up in these videos (as this is a wide range of people and topics), but they are by and large a good look at much of an industry that most people, myself included, don't know enough about, considering how crucial it is to our lives.
I'm open to channel/video recs but there are a few I ran into that seem well-done but have an audio quality I can't work with, so that's... unfortunate.
Stewart Hicks - Chicago-based, professor of architecture at the University of Illinois
Why Skyscrapers Are Losing Their Tops - Stewart Hicks - The general history of architectural styles for skyscrapers from the 1930s to the near future.
Why Do Architects Insist on Using Flat Roofs? - Stewart Hicks - Compares and contrasts the strengths and weaknesses of flat vs gabled roofs.
How Buildings Changed After the Eiffel Tower - Stewart Hicks - Thirteen minutes of history on structural engineering in bridges and skyscrapers.
The Bewildering Architecture of Indoor Cities - Stewart Hicks - Goes into the planned and unplanned variants of this phenomenon, which ranges from giant buildings intended to act as an entire community, to the unplanned network of underground tunnels or overstreet enclosed walkways that let people cross blocks upon blocks of a city without having to step outside.
How This Tower Barely Touches the Ground - Stewart Hicks - Addresses the engineering behind 150 N. Riverside in Chicago, and the zoning laws that caused its rather unique Y-shaped base in the first place, along with the requirements causing things like custom giant I-beams and necessitating a barge to host the crane since they had nowhere to anchor one on the ground.
How Chicago is Being Unbuilt: Back to Nature - Stewart Hicks - Explores the ways in which Chicago is undoing prior urbanization, and implementing some new eco-friendly infrastructure and various projects.
Why We Should Live in Our Office Buildings - Stewart Hicks - More and more office buildings are standing empty. With movements towards more mixed zoning and the return to walkable city models, some of those office buildings are getting retrofitted to be livable spaces and mixed-use locations.
How Architects Design for Less Lonely Living - Stewart Hicks - In a lot of places, like the US, the way we interact or avoid other people is impacted heavily by the organization of the buildings we live in.
House Sizes Are Getting Absurd - Stewart Hicks - Just a fun romp comparing the range of sizes (from the bare minimum of capsule hotels to the absurd mass of some modern estates) for various dwellings. Lots of very deliberate visualization.
Shopping Malls are Getting Desperate - Stewart Hicks - Discusses the decline of shopping malls, and the 'tricks' they employ to try to keep people happy and coming by.
The Architecture of Curb Appeal - Stewart Hicks - There's a lot that goes into making a house look good in a way that gets it sold. A lot of people hate it.
The Controversy Over Accessory Dwelling Units - Stewart Hicks - In many places, it's illegal to build a smaller livable space in your backyard. You know, places you put an adult child who wants their own space, or your mother-in-law, or just rent out to college students for the next ten months. But, at least in a few places, it's not going to be illegal much longer.
Toilets Need to Change - Stewart Hicks - Plumbing is such an important part of our daily lives, and it's still evolving!
The Hidden Meaning and Logistics of Fountains - Stewart Hicks - This one is just fun. 😊
The Genius of 2x4 Framing - Stewart Hicks - So apparently the US is a bit odd in how much of our architectural/construction industry uses light wood framing as a standard.
The B1M - Hosted by Fred Mills (British), more generally about construction, rather than just architecture
Why America Is Tearing Down Its Highways - The B1M - Explores the history of the interstate highway system, and how much of it was used for redlining and general segregation, along with the challenges faced by the plans to tear those highways down.
The $1.2 Trillion Plan to Rebuild America - The B1M - NGL I'm like. Ludicrously excited about this one. There's a lot going on! I hope it works out!
Why a Billionaire Tried to Stop This Bridge - The B1M - There's a new bridge being built between Detroit, MI and Windsor, ON. This bridge is going to help with the ongoing trade between the US and Canada; these two cities are already a major hub for one of the largest trading partnerships in the world (the largest where one side is not the European Union), so building another bridge is a reasonable undertaking. However, the new bridge will be just a few miles down from an existing bridge that is currently owned by a billionaire who makes a killing over his control of a major portion of this bottleneck of the trade route. (Also, more engineering challenges!)
The Statue of Liberty: Building an Icon - The B1M - Someone actually asked me about this recently and anyway you should all go learn about how the Statue of Liberty happened, she's a gem.
Why New York’s Billionaires’ Row Is Half Empty - The B1M- The usage of NYC luxury housing as a semi-liquid asset used as investment by the megarich, along with the rights acquisitions that led to their building in the first place, the gentrification they contribute to, and the tax write-offs they get for it.
Why Our Cities Are So Expensive - The B1M - How infrastructure investment by governments can and does frequently lead to gentrification. Focuses on London's Battersea Power Station revitalization plan.
Why New York's Skyscrapers Keep Changing Shape - The B1M - This is actually an exploration of more than just New York, covering much of the same topics as the above 'history of skyscraper design' video, with a great focus on the Chrysler building.
Why No One Wants This New York Skyscraper - The B1M - Investigates the ways in which the development of Two World Trade Center has been delayed over the past decade and change, along with a handful of other projects in the area.
The Wild Story of New York’s Abandoned Skyscraper - The B1M - There's a half-finished skyscraper on the western shore of Manhattan, and due to the errors in laying the foundation, there's an 8cm tilt in it. The parties involved in construction are duking it out in court about who's at fault, and until they're done, that thing is just... sitting there.
New York's Latest $3BN Skyscraper Explained - The B1M - Another stupidly tall skyscraper for midtown. You know. Because we need another one.
The $7BN Plan to Save New York's Most Hated Train Station - The B1M - Explores the history, current state, and planned upgrades to Penn Station of NYC.
New York's Most Hated Highway is Falling Apart - The B1M - The issues hitting the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, and the difficulties in repairing it.
The Secret Subway That Could Save New York - The B1M - Hey do you want to hear about how we might finally be getting that Queens-Brooklyn line that doesn't need to pass through Manhattan first?
The Tunnel That's Failing New York City - The B1M - The tunnel that handles a massive amount of the human traffic between NJ and NYC is starting to break down due to age. This one included a line that actually gave me feelings: "Look, it's a 110-year-old system, you know, it's done its job. Like, we really can't ask any more of it." It did its best! For a long time! Thank you!
The US Government Wants to Destroy These Towers - The B1M - The federal government just wants to demolish some Historic Skyscrapers in Chicago, no biggie.
The Secret $4BN Tunnel Network Under Chicago - The B1M - Since the 1970s, Chicago has been building an absolutely massive set of tunnels hundreds of feet under the surface to handle regular flooding from storms and the climate crisis.
The Fight to Fix the Tilting Millennium Tower - The B1M - There's this skyscraper in San Francisco that's leaning a few centimeters to the side, which doesn't sound like a lot, until you learn that just a few more will mean the plumbing and elevators stop working.
The £100BN Railway Dividing a Nation - The B1M - Goes over the political, economic, and environmental arguments and concerns behind the highspeed rail intended to connect London to the North of England.
Inside London's £19BN New Railway (and its Nightmare Station) - The B1M - Genuinely fascinated at the number of Train Problems that England seems to be having.

China's Skyscraper Boom is Officially Over - The B1M - Just learned that China is outlawing most skyscrapers. There are a few cases where you can still maybe make one happen, if you can convince the government it's needed, but in most cases... nah. They're cutting you off.
The Unstoppable Growth of China's High-Speed Rail Network - The B1M - [insert gif screaming about trains here]
The Insane Engineering of Tokyo's First Supertall Skyscraper - The B1M - While the focus is ostensibly Main Tower, the video covers a lot of ground regarding earthquakes and the necessary engineering to resist the incredibly frequent occurrence. (Warning: Came out shortly after the Feb. 2023 Turkey-Syria earthquake, and contains references to the event, urging people contribute what they could to help. The video was already almost finished when the Turkey-Syria earthquake happened, and rather than delay it for fear of it being in bad taste, they decided to use it to encourage people to help the victims.)
Japan’s $64BN Gamble on Levitating Bullet Trains Explained - The B1M - Let's talk about maglev, pros and cons.

Egypt Built a Supertall Skyscraper in the Desert - The B1M - Egypt is straight up building an entire city in the middle of nowhere, primarily as a new seat of government, because Cairo is overcrowded... and a frequent site of protests.
Top 10 Projects Completing in 2023 - The B1M - Some impressive, expensive, and possibly unnecessary projects that are happening.
Tomorrow's Build is a second channel under The B1M, also hosted by Fred Mills. It's more focused on hypothetical, future projects than ongoing ones.

The Hidden Crisis With Renewable Energy - Tomorrow's Build - Storage of energy from renewable sources that are not consistently available (e.g. solar is only available when the sun is out) is difficult, so here are a few options.
This Nuclear Plant is Built in 3 Months - Tomorrow's Build - Mail-order nuclear power is going to be a thing.
Greece is Turning its Olympic Ruins into a Casino - Tomorrow's Build - [good for them dot gif]
This Could Stop Construction Everywhere - Tomorrow's Build - So it turns out we're running out of sand. Which is important, because we need sand for concrete, and the easiest stuff to get (desert sand), doesn't work for that, which is why Dubai has to import sand for construction. So uh. Kind of a crisis. Sand pirates are a whole thing.
Architectural Digest - channel for the architectural magazine that dates back to 1920
Architect Breaks Down 5 of the Most Common New York Apartments - Architectural Digest - Just what it says on the tin! An architect explains brownstones, classics, railroad apartments, and loft/studio apartments. Lots of history, specifically that of the late 19th century tenement buildings and the art community and subsequent gentrification of SoHo.

Architect Explores New York City's Greenwich Village | Walking Tour - Architectural Digest - What a beautiful and inconvenient neighborhood, full of so many dead bodies.
Top Luxury - Despite the name, is about construction in general, including critique of megearich projects, so don't go in expecting it to be About The Luxury
World's Most Useless Megaprojects - Top Luxury - Did you know there are entire cities lying around empty? I already knew that, but there are just. So many giant projects that never got finished, ate up a lot of money, and are just kind of sitting around now.
5 Skyscrapers that Never Existed - Top Luxury - Some of these never got past the concept stage, and some ran out of funding, and at least one got turned into a fish farm by locals after it was abandoned.
Biggest Megaprojects in the World - Top Luxury - Exactly what it says on the tin! Guys, there are so many giant projects happening, and so many of them are controversial As Heck.
Why these Megacities are Still Empty - Top Luxury - Not entirely empty, but yeah, there are some megacities designed for one purpose or another that are more Ghost Town than Bustling Metropolis. Other than Naypyidaw, though, most of them are expected to gain larger populations soon, particularly Nusantara (which is being built specifically due to the sinking of Jakarta).
The Most Terrifying Bridges in the World - Top Luxury - Like half of these are in a specific region of China that just has. So many mountains.
Most Expensive Construction Mistakes in the World (Part 3) - Top Luxury - Have you ever fucked up so incredibly that it cost six billion USD to fix?
Not Just Bikes - Canadian living in Europe; city planning with focus on N. American car-centric zoning
Why City Design is Important (and Why I Hate Houston) - Not Just Bikes - Do you want more ammo to show people when they try to argue with you about walkable cities?
America Always Gets This Wrong (when building transit) - Not Just Bikes - How zoning and city planning needs to adjust in order for mass transit to actually work for people.
Suburbs that don't Suck - Streetcar Suburbs (Riverdale, Toronto) - Not Just Bikes - So there actually are good suburbs in the US and Canada, we just can't build them anymore because zoning laws make it impossible.
Stroads are Ugly, Expensive, and Dangerous (and they're everywhere) - Not Just Bikes - So there's this really popular and horrible form of street/road in the US and Canada that is bad at its job.
Would You Fall for It? - Not Just Bikes - 1950s pro-highway propaganda (which is referenced in many other videos from this channel), and the ways in which it was misleading and effective.
These Stupid Trucks are Literally Killing Us - Not Just Bikes - This video actually did numbers on tumblr a few months ago. You know those stupidly big SUVs and Pick-ups? Yeah! They suck!
Cities Aren't Loud: Cars Are Loud - Not Just Bikes - With a few small changes, you too could live in a city that doesn't make you want to wear noise-cancelling headphones every moment of the day.
IT'S HISTORY - Various historic places... mostly NYC
Why can't you visit the Statue of Liberty's Torch? - IT'S HISTORY - Has some confusing image choices (photos from the early 20th century while talking about events from the 18th), but delivers on a fun history of the Statue of Liberty (and includes some facts that the other Lady Liberty video didn't get around to).
What's Left of New York's Lost Reservoir? - IT'S HISTORY - Apparently it turned into Bryant Park.
When Chicago built the Tallest Building in the World | The story of Sears Tower - IT'S HISTORY - Just what it says on the tin.. Big building, big history!
The Secret Tunnels Beneath New York - IT'S HISTORY - NYC has lost so many tunnels? Lost track of, forgotten, rediscovered... it's ridiculous. Half of these are for TRAINS. Those are HUGE. Led to me making this post (which contains a meme or two, but also a very important trigger warning).
Other
The lost neighborhood under New York's Central Park - Vox - Explains the history of Seneca Village: a primarily-black community of newly wealthy, often first-generation-freed peoples that was destroyed to make way for Central Park.
The Rise and Fall of American Malls - Bloomberg Originals - Covers the factors that led to malls becoming so common, and the many things that are contributing to the move away from them.
Megastructures: Building the Burj Al Arab | Dubai Engineering - Reel Truth Science Documentaries - This is fifty minutes of engineering and architecture, and really well done/presented. Mostly steers clear of the larger political controversy in favor of focusing on the math, though it can't entirely avoid the political and economic conflicts due to direct influence on the design by a the Crown Prince.
Why Venice is Europe’s Worst Placed City - Real Life Lore - We all know Venice is sinking, but this explains why and how (it's not just global climate change).
Why Wyoming is VASTLY Emptier Than Colorado - Real Life Lore - More of a general history lesson than architecture, but still fun.
Why Engineers Can't Control Rivers - Practical Engineering - I've had a few classes touch on this topic, but it was mostly back in high school. This video has some really good visualization on the main elements, and addresses that there are some places working on actual fixes!
Why Construction Projects Always Go Over Budget - Practical Engineering - Goes over the process by which costs are estimated, the limitations of those processes, and the risks that inevitably force the budget higher.
Czechia's Incredible 1960s Supervillain-Lair Hotel (And Why Its Architect Got Banned By The Regime) - The Tim Traveller - There's this really cool hotel that recently got refurbished.
Why Egypt Is Building a New Capital City - neo - Another video on the new city in Egypt, but with more in-depth exploration of the specific planning choices (where certain buildings are, especially).
The Forgotten Story of Modulex: LEGO's Lost Cousin - Peter Dibble - LEGO had a brand called Modulex that was used for architecture and city planning for a few decades. These days they mostly do signage.

How would you rank the Pokemon champions and villain bosses?
1) N: The most written character in all of Pokémon.
2) Guzma: Nothing in Pokémon made me feel things as much as first visiting Po Town did. That plus his background tidbits form a very sympathetic loser I care for a lot.
3) Lusamine: The tragedy of her family is delightful on all of its members, but Lusamine is certainly the weakest link to it due to being more of a perpetrator than a victim. I also love both of her designs, with her Nihilego form being easily the second-best-looking Pokémon woman, behind on Valerie.
4) Maxie and Archie: Accidental comedy duo. Their goals are stupid in the most endearing and memeable ways, and their reactions to the consequences of their actions somehow still manage to be a resonating moment. Ranking them separately is silly, but if I had to, Maxie is the best for his general pretentiousness, inside jokes, and being the Jouji voice in Master Sex.
5) Blue: The rival becoming the Champion for 5 minutes is a perfect endpoint of a rival arc and every one of Blue's successors, even the ones that are better characters than him, suffer from not being the one who pulled this off. Raticate-based content is also often good.
6) Alder: A cool design can carry you a long way. Seriously, he nails the wandering monk aesthetic so neatly. Volcarona, Reuniclus, and Chandelure are also sublime picks. And I love how his contributions to the plot are meaningful advice rather than the more distant and professional company that Wallace and Cynthia offer.
7) Rose: Funny anxiety man, arguably cuter and more memeable than the Hoenn villains, only lower than them because of how messily the Galar finale is delivered. Immense bonus points for his part as an accessory to Bede's character.
8) Wallace: Like with Alder, a cool design can carry you a long way. Milotic as an ace is also an immense plus. I suppose Emerald also makes him useful, but if that was a major factor, Cynthia would have been a lot higher.
10) Lance: Having the second-to-last boss become a sequel final boss always has a big feeling of downgrade, but that's offset well enough by making him cool in the Red Gyarados arc and his relationship with Clair.
11) Cynthia: Infodump character for Sinnoh mythology, which is not nearly as interesting as it should have been. Gets some points for the generally great choices of Pokémon and for actually feeling powerful in gameplay.
12) Kukui: Funny professor with a lot of presence but none very memorable. Being the Champion fight, and a surprisingly challenging one, is a big shock, but nothing really amazing on further thought.
13) Archer: Pathetic underling, therefore immediately more interesting than his nothingburger boss.
14) Leon: Dude that game insistently tries to sell as cool but never actually gets to be cool. Only above Steven because he's the one who gets to make the poignant commentaries on Sword/Shield's themes and because he's genuinely good as an accessory to Hop's arc.
15) Steven: Generic champion that never gets to be interesting, but gets points for only having cool Pokémon in his team.
16) Cyrus: Gets points for being memeable but not enough to compensate for how unfun his actual character is. Being soulless by design doesn't make it meaningful when the Sinnoh games are not saying anything about emotion.
17) Ghetsis: Plot device to make N innocent. Only above Giovanni because I like some Pokémon in his team.
18) Giovanni: Just a yakuza boss without any fun projects. The Gym Leader twist was a wow thing on the first run but never amounts to anything, like with Kukui being the Champion fight. Did he ever interact with Silver? Not in anything I played, I think.
19) Diantha: Has the bare minimum story presence and doesn't even use it well.
20) Lysandre: Has one of the stupidest villain plans, made even more ridiculous by the version differences between X and Y, but his aesthetic and delivery are so bad that it manages to make it not funny.

hi bed 🥺🥺🥺🥺 hiiiiii hiiiiiiiiiiiii hiiiiiiiiii ~
ill give you a few to choose from <3:
what are your band's love languages and how do the others show/give/receive it?
what are their favorite place(s) to go n visit in cyber world? least favorite places?
favorite accessory from all three?
when/how did they learn their magic?
hi jello hiii [: thank youse 🥺
[Places] (aside from the shop/wherever each other are)
SWT: previously fond of queenie's mansion, it has a lot of... complicated feelings with the place, now. really likes scrapyards and recycling/dump areas though! also a huge fan of empty venues/places with super reverb.
CPN: enjoys the amusement park. (he is banned from the prize booths.) if not that, then the tops of buildings, so to speak. huge hater of the city and all its blinding lights (alongside the atmosphere/"personality" of it sometimes).
CKS: highway lover! ...in moderation! the city is cool; it can also be pretty badly overstimulating and distracting for hymn, so the open fields are a bit nicer than worrying about stepping on maice or bumping into anything.
[Magic]
magic is something innately known: it is the heart of the system. from cycling breath to performing any given motion, the workings of all joints and functions in tandem. for machines, it is the electricity and magic inside their chassis, the latter serving as a barrier of protection for internal components (while also assisting the course of coolant).
when materialized as an output, this is something that can and often is "specialized/themed" around the being itself (physically and/or based upon SOUL).
SWT. as a wee little speakie squeaker, it was taught early on alongside its twin once they were reared by other speakers. there's only so much depth-perception with an eye (with hardly any peripheral, at that!) — which means having to practice navigating their surroundings with sound and projecting its voice (which helped with living with chamber who's blind). it also had a lot of energy them and now that needs to be released... kind of like a pipe bo- ⠀⠀
CPN. had some difficulties learning as a kid due to being a machine and their addison father already being a bit bad at explaining crap to it. ("ya just feel it, and... bang!" "?") so... it came a bit intuitively whenever he got into some fights; didn't get refined until way later when he befriended manager. ⠀⠀
CKS. had to learn as a kid and was guided generally under genesis (former caretaker before being adopted); hy struggled with controlling its own strength, so it had to learn some bare minimum healing in order not to cause too much damage to themself (or others). the other aspect of their magic was learned when they got into the band and discovered more things they could do as a result [: !

Thanks for the request, anon! I messed up answering but thankfully I had a screenshot lol. Here it is:
If I say it's act services it can be seem as cliche, but–
I think that Alfred is actually a mix of acts of service and gift giving
Now, this doesn't mean he'll give you lavish and extravagant gifts. No, Alfred is the gentleman type that think that well-thought acts go a long way, genuine and simple.
Small gifts, big differences.
And isn't he right?
He'll remember how you like your drink, because of course. A cup of it will be expecting you, always; nonchalantly. Alfred won't comment on it.
Will bring you lunch if you so forgot. Doesn't matter how far you live/work. Prettiest plating you ever saw in a lunchbox.
Doesn't vocalize y'all friendship. But he'll listen to you talk your voice off.
You casually mention that one button of your favourite shirt fell down – not really expecting anything from it – and it'll be perfectly sewed back into the place next morning
Being methodical is the bare minimum for him
Brings you books and accessories and anything he thinks you'll actually use
Dry humour and being sassy with him is a love language on its own. Always gets him raising his eyebrows and ever-so-slightly smiling.
The posher he sounds, the sassiest he's being.
It's the details, really. Won't let anything you dislike near your plate, remembers your whole routine like the back of his hand.
The more time pass, more he'll let you stick around while he does his things. Another showing of love, really.
Alfred spends a long time catering. The only way you can make him rest is outrunning him in the tasks.
Oh, he doesn't gossip. That wouldn't be very gentlemanly of him. But did you see that dress? Mixing silk with satin?? Silver, gold and bloody pearls. Poor soul must been dropped as a baby.
Caught you both in the corner of some gala, scrutinizing everyone silently.
Being once-over-d up by one of you both – or, heaven's forbid, both at the same time – is probably worst than death.
Once again, a ✨love language✨
You don't know how to make tea? Or can't quite grasp the details on how he likes it? He'll teach you, of course.
Now you can bring him tea too!
But his kitchen? When he's cooking? Sacrosanct place. Don't interrupt him.
And if you burn something after claiming you knew how to cook, he won't quite trust you near his pans. Just don't lie if you can't cook.
Stick around somewhere you won't be a trouble and maybe peel potatoes together.
Ahh I think that's it? Thanks for the asks anon 🥰 hope this is platonic-y enough, it's the first time I wrote something like this

Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 164
Tumblr media
Finally, we come to the last notion of duality between Erza and Wendy for this arc.
Both of them have lost the person that meant the most to them, not by any fault of their own, but simply because it was where they were meant to go. It was for their own good, but that wouldn’t change how much it hurts.
While Wendy cries loud and visceral, begging for everyone to not go--- Erza had painful, heartwrenching silence before willingly surrendering Jellal to the council. And Wendy cries loud, wailing, sobbing, in the presence of all her friends; while Erza did so alone in a corner, silently, where no one could see.
Even their clothes continue to remain parallels, with Wendy having the most patterned clothing of the group while Erza stays in cloth with almost no patterns at all. Erza has sleeves and shawls and accessories, Wendy has only the bare minimum of a comfortable one-piece.
Both of their hairs are sleek, straight, and left down. That frame of Erza being behind Wendy almost seems as if Erza is approaching a younger version of herself.
And while they’re both deeply hurting, they’re both kneeling down, weak and broken-- Erza smiles, so Wendy can, too.
Tumblr media
Essentially, both of them were ‘abandoned’ by their Jellals to this foreign, unknown place, and they latched onto the first person they saw.
To Wendy, this is Erza losing Grandpa Rob. To both Roubaul and Rob, this little girl was the light of happiness in their lonely, forsaken lives, and they did everything they could to give them love. But Rob was withered without magic despite being alive, while Roubaul was full of too much magic while only his soul remained.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In its own way, this is Wendy’s moment of realising that she has been living in ‘false freedom’ this whole time, false reality. It’s kind of like the butterfly-- it was all too good to be true.
Except, for Wendy, she genuinely needed to wake up from this ‘dream’ and go back to the world of real humans. But Erza needed to stop longing for the dream (her old Jellal) and go home to Fairy Tail.
Tumblr media
And Erza sees all of this. That’s why, in this moment, she is the only one not looking at Roubaul when he speaks. She already knows what’s going to happen, and what needs to be done.
Natsu called her home last time, so this time, she does it for Wendy.

"Her aesthetic is platinum, with an array of subtle colours. Picture fine particles of glitter that catch the light and refract into a multitude of colours"
Do you have any *idea* what a yarn crafting nightmare this is? I have some ideas but I've finally decided on a long bodied frame I can put multiple dresses on so I can experiment. Unless I find the perfect embroidery thread for a mini......
In any case-
I fully believe the future of Princess merchandise for Fazco lies in makeup/costumes/dress up merch, and hard bodied dolls. Think like, american girl, barbie, monster high, ect. Ball jointed things with every accessory under the sun. The castle, by nature of its built in narritive, would be downright tone deaf to not merchandise towards pretend play. And fazco has two predominate plush styles. The chunky kind (think plush baby) and the long bodied kind (sun and moon AR plushes). While possible for them to redesign the plush's from the ground up, the infrastructure for assembly already existed from the pizzaplex. The attendant's hips are also a plush nightmare. But liberties are probably taken to emphasize other features and leave them the long body plush bodies.
Now you can either market the princess as a unit with the attendants, giving her the long body type, or independently, reusing the chunky plush style, which has far less detail and is printed felt. Actually given her size, and encouraging imagination play with the knight plushes (no doubt chunky), making her a chunky plush in sky blue (guarentee it would test better than grey. Might even end up in like a cream cause little girls would dig it as wedding aestetic) is most likley.
*having said that*
I personally would prefer her in a long body, to preserve her elegance.
So that's def what I'm doing.
after my current project, which unfortunately is slated for a few months worth of work given my limited work time, I'm definitly going to bare minimum rough out a body and face. Time to order all the armature wire ever.
(A mental image, of a small girl repeat customer, who obsessivley ships anyone but sun with the princess, and makes direct eye contact with sun while making her toys kiss. She probably has a crush on sun)
Nelly I'm so sorry I was just trying to give you more informationnnnn Basically I'm saying her palette is really minimal so she'll look great in a bunch of colours and I TRUST ANYTHING YOU DO I PROMMIE
I totally agree that dolls would be a huge hit later down the line when the Castle gets more popular. Doll!Princess would be a similar shape to the Glamrock action figures to encourage cross over play. Glamrock Chica and Roxy having girlie sleepovers with the Princess, small replicas of the Castle made ripping off Barbie's Dream House.
(Also that little girl with the Princess toy doll making them kiss everyone, that's me. That's my self insert. She's got a big ol' crush on Sun but keeps making doll!Sun smooch literally everybody.)

i dont know if horse ranch is worth it at all. like the build/buy stuff is really good & i love the little goats & the nectar making stuff but.. how tf did they drop the ball this hard around the whole subject of the xpac: horses
only a few activities/gameplay surrounding them. they supposedly went to ranches & shit to look at horses & its insane to me that all they could come up with was contests (& not even all of the contests you can enter horses in lol)
no new careers, no new woohoo places, no new deaths (that last one is particularly fuckin stupid. could have just added a death of a horse beating the shit out of your sim with its hooves)
there is literally so much to raising & taking care of horses but they did less than the bare minimum. as a person who grew up taking care of horses & riding horses, the gameplay surrounding the horses is fuckin nothing lol
they couldnt even add a ton of accessories for the horses which are, again, the god damn subject of the xpac

Bleach Shadow Redux Part 6
Bankai Ryujin Hebimaru,
Renji and Rukia quickly flash stepped as they appeared next to Akari, Yumichika and Ikkaku. "Are you guys, okay?" Renji asked.
"We're fine." Ikkaku growled. Akari got up as she watched Kenpachi began to clash with the shadow hallow. Kenpachi swung his sword down on the hallow's head. It didn't leave a mark. Kenpachi's eyes widen in surprise. The shadow hallow bucked Kenpachi off. Kenpachi landed on the ground and Yachiru hopped off from his back, landing with the others. Kenpachi quickly flash stepped striking at the hallow repeatedly with his sword. With each strike did barely any minimum damage as his sword bounced off the hallow's diamond hard skin. The shadow hallow used one of its legs to smack Kenpachi away and the soul reaper captain smashed into one of the resident buildings.
"Damn it." Ikkaku hissed. Akari was about to charge at the hallow but Yumichika grabbed her by her shoulder stopping her. "Don't. If you get in his way, Captain Zaraki really will strike you down. He doesn't like to have his fights interrupted."
"He doesn't know how to defeat it!" Akari shouted. Kenpachi growled as he pushed some of the fallen rubble of the roof off of him and stood up, glaring at the hallow.
"Come on! Let's us help!" Akari called out.
"Don't interfere!" Kenpachi shouted at her and he darted towards the hallow, attacking it again.
"Don't worry, Kenny's got this. There isn't anything he can't cut." Yachiru told her. "Just don't get in his way."
"I'm not so sure about that, sweetie." Akari spoke. Yachiru blinked at her. "What do you mean?"
"It's skin is hard to penetrate. But it does have a weak spot. You have to hit it hard in the center." Akari said. Yumichika and Ikkaku turned back towards their captain.
"Captain! Listen to her!" Ikkaku shouted at him. "She knows a way to beat this thing!"
"I told you guys to stay out of this!" Kenpachi shouted, furiously. Akari stepped up. "Just hit it in the center. Hard." She told him. Kenpachi frowned then turned back towards the shadow hallow. He quickly flash stepped out of the way as the hallow raised one of its legs to strike Kenpachi with it. Then Kenpachi quickly reappeared above the hallow, bringing his sword down directly in the center of the hallow's back. The hallow let out a shriek in pain. A small crack began to form. It quickly raised one of it's arms and knocked Kenpachi off it's back. Kenpachi used his sword to block it's arms and crashed into the ground. Akari frowned.
"Looks like I don't have a choice." She started to walk over to the rampaging hallow. Rukia called out to her to come back.
"What are you-" Yumichika's eyes widen in shock, along with Ikkaku's, Rukia's and Renji's when they heard the words she spoke. Yachiru stood watching her, silently, in awe as well.
"Bankai..." Akari slowly pulled out her zanpakuto.
"Eradicate, Ryujin Hebimaru." A light purple blinding light released from her zanpakuto, engulfing Akari within it. Her sword began to turn vibrantly red, growing and extending longer. A red flower hairpin appeared in her hair, followed by a ripped white cape appearing on her right shoulder with a golden dragon accessory connected to her upper arm. White cloth appeared on Akari's hips, wrapping around her waist. Then three flaming wheels floated near her acting like shields.
Akari quickly vanished before everyone's eyes and quickly flash stepped in front of the shadow hallow, slamming her sword down on it's head. The hallow let out a shriek and Akari fell, slamming her sword into the ground, creating a crack. The ground began to shake, knocking the hallow off balance. Akari quickly jumped into the air, floating above the hallow and began to spin downwards, straight through the shadow hallow's center. The shadow hallow let out one final cry before it dissolved. Akari stood up, placing her sword back into her sheath and turned back to the others, who were staring at her in shock, completely speechless.
"Hey, you were holding back this whole time!?" Kenpachi shouted.
"The last time I used this, it caused a lot of destruction. That I had to clean up for weeks. It was not a fun day." Akari sighed, tired. She wanted to sleep.
"What the hell happened!?" Everyone saw multiple soul reapers, wearing ninja masks quickly reappear, surrounding them. The Squad 2 captain appeared in front of everyone.
"Captain Soi Fon!" Renji spoke. "There was a hallow and-"
"It's gone now." Akari finished.
"A hallow did all this?" Soi Fon narrowed her eyes, eyeing the damage from the ruined houses and the ground.
"Not an ordinary hallow. A shadow hallow, like I told you and the other captains in the meeting. But you guys have your hands full already-" Akari spoke before she was interrupted by Soi Fon.
"This is a serious threat. I'll have a talk with the head captain to see if I can send out patrols." She quickly disappeared along with the rest of her squad force before Akari told talk to her anymore.
"Now about our fight-" Kenpachi spoke before Akari interrupted him.
"You're really still going on about that? Listen, I would love to fight you." She told him then her eyes drifted over to Ikkaku and Yumichika. "Especially, you two. But I'm exhausted. It's been a long day. I'm going to have to take a rain check on our fight for now."
"Fine." Kenpachi huffed.

Ni unpacks some design comments on the new 02 group's design.
(because all i wanted was just one person's motivational boost to make this lol) (i got three. extra dose of motivation boost)
This is kinda a thing i like the most -- i love do design characters and coloring, so i'm always studying character reference sheets for the sake of learning bits and improving my own art 👀
So, we recently had more details (even if bare minimum) for Digi02: The Beginning, and i'd like to write a post analyzing their clothes and the coloring. Also their hairstyles too (hello Miyako, Hikari??)
So, let's roll!!
Daisuke's design!!
Tumblr media
Ok, i had talked about this one before (when we had the sketches of it revealed at Digimon Con lol) and I'm super duper happy with this color palette invoking Daisuke's original human world's clothes. Not only the style, BUT the coloring too!!
The first thing I notice is... He got pants now. Well, it's funny because since this movie is set in the Winter... 02 Daisuke had shorts on winter!? Okay, some people were also surprised by it too, no kidding. Anyway, this seems to be very comfy! And has the coloring of his iconic shorts hehe.
He did not ditch the dummy sunglasses, THANK GOODNESS I LOVE THEM SO MUCH! Also i find funny the shoes are the reverse of his iconic boots -- White with orange details. His socks are the same color as his DW's socks (which were the same blue-color of his jacket, i'm not kiddin')
He got a cool vest that has the same colors of his vest in 02 😭 But this one has more details and is probably made with some extra layers for winter (i guess) -- and he's wearing a cool hoodie! Idk what is that stamp, but it has its bottom part colored in orange? Or is it a pouch? Haramaki...?? Who knows...!
Ken:
Tumblr media
No ponytail aw... But i find him pretty with his short hair -- I'm really loving his short hair that i have to remind myself his hair was long when he was a kid orz
Whoa classy! Ken-chan continues to wear the finnest clothes as possible. He's really bringing some smooth detective style 🤔
His new friend, the hair sprout is still there and strong, I guess he's still a dummy like his other five friends lol. I love this little sprout, better he never cut that lone warrior or i will be upset.
There's not much to talk about here, only that he's very formal and classy. Ok, he's still wearing neutral colors but at least they're having not so sad like the grey uniform in 02.
I love his face tho, he's really pretty.
Miyako:
Tumblr media
No headgear this time, my dear!? Wow you're so pretty without any accessories on!! I love her new glasses! Still round and Miyako-ish 🥰
I like the color palette of this outfit! The pink poncho with the cyan pantyhose/tights are a nice touch! Also wow those boots are so pretty 👀👌
I also noticed her hair is still curly and got some bangs hehe. I hope to see more cool Miyako's hairstyles in this movie -- Kizuna already was so precious about those two hairstyles 😭
Since the poncho covers a good part of her design, i can't say much about it. Anyway, maybe in the movie we see this one without the poncho... I hope so.
Iori:
Tumblr media
Are we finally seeing Iori without a school uniform!? Wow, and he's pretty stylish somehow huh... Since Iori is a reserved and polite person like Ken, his design only differs from the fact is a bit more casual than Ken's classy detective coat.
Iori also likes neutral colors if you check his outfits in 02 & its previous movies. So, a grey jacket it's very in-character for him. His shoes have some interesting patterns and color scheme. I like the blue with black-purple and salmon colors. It suits Iori's personality imo.
Ah, he got a... watch? I wonder what kind of watch would fit Iori's personality... Analog or digital? 🤔
(also, i wonder if he's a little more taller now...)
Takeru:
Tumblr media
I dunno why, but this one design reminds me 02 as well, but the yellow consumes a good part of the jacket, forming a "T" with the black accents on the upper body.
He got... a beanie now!? Wow, it's a cute beanie and the color matches with the entire design i think (the colorist of those design is a mad genius i love their color game) -- and he got some cool off-white sneakers with light gray, blue and orange red details 👀👌
I think this is very Takeru-ish. Ah, is he wearing a necklace under his jacket? Because I can see a necklace cord there...?
Hikari:
Tumblr media
Hikari's a pretty lady. And by that, i mean we saw her outfits in Kizuna were a bit more sophisticated and comfy than stylish or simple. I feel like she's getting a good fashion game here and might be my most favorite of out of the six characters.
I love her sweater and pants. They're pretty and cute, and her coat is a nice addition to this design, especially its color. Hikari's color palette is more neutral than her 02 outfits (where Pink was almost in some part of said designs, even if by just one cloth piece of that color) and i think it shows how mature and pretty she became.
Also, we can notice her hairstyle is changing a little too! Her hair is getting longer enough to have this cute ponytail. Some strands are longer on her back too, and I'm in love with this new change of pace.
Stay cute and cool, Hikari-chan 💖
BONUS: Rui's design!!
Tumblr media
Since he's a new character and it's his debut movie, there's not much to talk about his design, other than his spiky purple-grey-ish hair makes me think about Ken's late brother.
His palette has too much black, and some grey and white. I feel he's a sad person at this point... I don't know how to interpret this, since we know basically nothing about him and his possible partner Ukkomon. But, i think it's an intriguing character design.
I've seen a press' screenshot of the scene shown at the event, and seems like under that bang covering his eye... He's wearing an eyepatch?? Really, who are you Rui? I want to know more about you asap!!
That's all everyone!! I hope you enjoy my silly analysis of those seven characters 😊
Peace~✌

Got this as part of a review on To Tommy With Love, what do you guys think?
my only advice istake it or leave it; it's your storyis to keep OC's to a bare minimum. remember; your audience is here because we are attached to the characters from the show. it's impossible for us to have that same relationship to a character that is thrown in and completely foreign to us. we don't know them-and don't love them-like you do. like the ones we came here to see. now; that's not to say that there aren't exceptions to this. (ie; children of the rangers, parents of the rangers that were lil more than mentioned in the show, a friend, coworker or ex partner; people who's purpose only serve to be a filler for dialogue or just to further the story but not really be a significant role in it, villains; etc) more like props or accessories rather than meant to make the audience identify with them and develop a relationship with them; if that makes sense. my point is; even well developed OCs can often ruin a perfectly good story in fanfiction simply because they dont quite belong outside of the few exceptions; to which should still be approached with caution. my 2 cents for what its worth.
