his mbti is infp (which fits him sm bc of how like. caring. and idealistic he can be) and his enneagram is 6w5 (the guardian) which, again, SO fitting for a man like him. so loyal but also very pensive kinda guy. analytical one might say.

🌴 PALM TREE — does your oc have a green thumb? do they enjoy gardening?

i never really thought abt it before but. god he DOES have a green thumb actually!! his apartment is full of plants because he still feels weird being in night city and wants to remember being outside (even tho "outside" is a desert). i think he also grows plants to manifest the future he wants, aka being at peace in a place that's connected to nature and had NOTHING to do with night city. he also gardens i've decided just now bc he can't stand all the factory foods (which is gonna be a useful skill when he DOES get his little haven away from everything!!)

💯 HUNDRED POINTS SYMBOL — share three random facts about your oc that others may not know.

– finley is trans!! it's a ripperdoc in the bakkers that did his top surgery a few years ago and there were some complications (normal thing to happen in the badlands methink) so his scars are now a little jagged and strange, but he loves them nonetheless – was taken by raffen shivs as a kid to be sold or eviscerated. he ended up killing and maiming his way out of the camp with a scalpel and running away before being found by some bakkers scouts. – sometimes, when he can't sleep in his apartment, he goes down to the garage and sleeps in his car. it's something that's more familiar to him and it soothes him despite the grief that comes with it.

🐈 CAT — does your oc prefer a wide circle of friends or a few close friends?

he definitely prefers a few close friends. doing what he does—infiltrating the project at eden's gate years ago and now juggling his allegiances as best as he can—, it's much safer to only rely on a few friends he can really depend on rather than risk being ratted out by hanging out with too many people. he's also very slow to trust, so he's never even had a wide circle of friends, even as a child.

🤍 WHITE HEART — what are three of your oc's neutral/questionable traits?

– maxwell is an excellent hunter. he learned as a child with his uncle and his big brother achilles. he never liked it. – tends to be quieter in most situations, only there as support for whoever he's with (be it jacob or eli). he doesn't take sides during fights, which is why he's so conflicted about the reaping and its factions. – doesn't listen to much music. idk if this counts as a trait but there it is!! my poor underdeveloped boy

🍝 SPAGHETTI — what is/are your oc's favorite food(s)?

he likes homemade foods, no matter what that food might be, but the food that brings him the most comfort is saltines and peanut butter. it's just a little snack he used to get as a kid when they were a little tight on money and it brings back a lot of memories, good and bad.

💚 GREEN HEART — does your oc prefer being inside or outside?

outside!! carter grew up on a spaceship, so being outside on earth is one of his favourite thing. i mean, there are trees, flowers, rivers, lakes, animals, bugs!! so many things to see, so many beautiful colours, so many different smells!!

🍦 SOFT ICE CREAM — what is/are your oc's favorite ice cream flavor(s)?

strawberry,,,, he's a very strawberry and banana kinda little guy and strawberry ice cream is just so sweet AND pretty. all pink. important also to note he hates pistachio ice cream (projecting that on him rn)

🎶 MUSICAL NOTES — what type of music does your oc like? do they listen to music very often?

carter listens to all kinds of music!! growing up with peter quill as a father, he ofc listened to a lot of music from the 70's and 80's and they're what he listens to the most nowadays, but he also enjoys pop music a lot and the shrek 2 soundtrack!! he's also a BIG fan of dolly parton

Celestial Primate ! MK

[One of the Alternate Universes that can be requested for people who like alt-first meetings!]

tldr; What if MK was born in his demon form and never met Sun Wukong or trained under him.

(Kinda half-headcanon on MK's origins, half-what if scenario.)

His Celestial Primate name is Zodiac Clay Monkey /Shengxiao Ni'hou although I don't know any chinese so it is up to be changed, I wanted to keep the four character naming scheme the other Celestial Primates have.

He still answers to MK, as it is his preferred name, but Celestial Primates are kind of a big deal, and suddenly finding out a fifth one has been living among those the mortal realm is also, kind of a big deal.

MK hasn't been properly trained, nor does he have Monkey King's staff, unless someone goads him into picking it up and releasing DBK. He fights a bit more feral, tooth and nail, and uses his electric and technomancy powers to do most of his scrapping, but he's not one to pick fights.

He wants to be a regular noodle delivery boy for his Dadsy like in canon, but its kind of hard when your one of only five of your kind and people keep giving you weird looks or trying to kidnap you and drain your power.

Shengxiao was carved using clay from Flower Fruit Mountain, with fragments of Sun Wukong's stone mixed into the mud, along with other creatures based on the Zodiac and other constellations like Ursa Major. Shengxiao is the only figure to come to life. This gives him access to the same powers as the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, though they're mostly dormant.

Before he was finished being created, the celestial realm attempted to destroy him, causing him to be incomplete and fractured spiritually. This storm also knocked him off Flower Fruit Mountain and sent him to the mainland, where Pigsy took the still underdeveloped monkey demon in and raised him as his own.

Also I'm working on a Spicynoodles fic in this universe [tho you have to be logged into Ao3 to read it sorry ^^;]

"REALISTIC" AU

that name doesn't really feel accurate i just literally don't know what else to call it but its my AU where MC is from miami (aka self-insert au ig?? even tho its supposed to be a self-insert anyway?? idk idk) and i just kinda wanted to explore the ramifications of an MC that knows a Miami that's very different from the one that miguel is in, not only bc its the 80s but also the criminal element and also the general areas of miami that i grew up in are very different from where miguel grew up... i also wanted to do HEAVY research about miami in the 80s (maybe i can show off my reading list lol) to get a more "authentic" portrait of the city ??? SO LIKE all that mixed together would kinda end up changing the plot up bc like ofc it'll still be romantic bc im a simp BUT bc im writing like a narrative with other themes and an "OC" and not a romantic visual novel, the elements i'll steal from CMIM are more like the skeleton of the plot and not a scene-for-scene remake, ykwim? so bc of that, i also imagined it shorter and also like a movie script - three-act structure and all that jazz SO!! its an action/adventure/crime/romantic/comedy taking place in 1980s miami!! ALSO U WENT TO SEE A MOVIE AND GOT SUCKED IN SO LIKE i wanted to explore that and the "man out of time" angle that the visnov can't rlly get into bc it can't assume anything about what time period ur from without breaking the self-insert illusion AND ALSO i rlly wanted some ängst re: if this is all real or if everything is gonna end once the "movie's over" ya kno i just love that drama spice of "do u love me bc ur supposed to love me, is any of this ur choice, what will happen when i wake up" and all that jazz 🤭 heehee hoohoo

Again on my Hot D bullshit, this time re: Daemon. I’ve been trying to sort out my feelings on this character, and it dawned on me that I love him, but in a very different way people usually love him. But also kinda, a little bit in the same way people usually love him. It’s complicated, okay? Basically, on the one hand, he’s a lot like Larys for me - yes, he’s horrible, of course I would loathe a person like this irl, but like... He’s not real. And on screen, he’s pretty hillarious? Daemon and Larys both are evil pieces of shit, but I wouldn’t have them any other way (except for the choking and foot fetish scene, those just suck and I hate them together with the people who wrote them). His conversation with Rhea’s cousin was great, “he can keep his tongue” simply iconic, not to mention the Crabfeeder bait thing? The Dragonstone temper tantrum??? Hell, I almost want the “heir for a day” thing to be said in the douchiest way possible, except I am not sure about its effects on his relationship with Viserys...

Which brings me to the other thing: Daemon’s relationship with the few people he actually likes and respects. And honestly, in this way, the show’s writing has been kinda dissapointing. There are kernels of something truly fascinating in every one of them that elevate Daemon above the funny evil man, but... The execution tho... - Viserys. Okay, that one was actually fine, for what it was. It could’ve been better developed, but you know. It didn’t have to. Considering the show couldn’t be Magnificent Century lenght, they gave us enough to chew on. - Rhaenyra. Hooo boy. That daemyra ship is truly something. Starts out as weird incestuous bonding over feeling underappreciated, by Viserys mostly, but also the world at large. I get the sense that he is way more into her than she is into him, but that’s just my headcannon. After all, Daemon’s main appeal is that he’s funny, and honestly what’s funnier than a thirty-something man simping over a teenage girl who has a vague crush on him, but if he doesn’t want her, she could go for her hot bodyguard too, because she doesn’t care THAT much? Anyway, he still loves after years of marriage to some other woman, while she... Well, she doesn’t. But boy does wish she did, because in hindsight he seems appealing. So when he comes back to her life just when they both suffered the loss of their significant other, they get together as naturally as two opposite poles of magnets. And they are happy! For a few years, they are genuinely happy together! But his toxic masculinity gets in the way of him supporting her emotionally when she’s at her lowest point, and he mistakenly thinks that fighting for her instead would suffice, and... Hey, what’s that? He’s still hung up on her dad, who hasn’t factored in their relationship for decades? In fact, for him, she’s the emotional substitute for her dad? And this thing, that hasn’t been alluded to and absolutely ruins an otherwise perfectly good and interesting relationship for the sake of another one that is just completely over narratively and was good as it was... This was worth giving us a scene of domestic violence against the fucking queen that goes completely unpunished (she doesn’t even so much as shout at him, what the fuck?!), that is actually kinda out-of-character and that utterly demolishes a perfectly good relationship??? OKAY, THEN. FUCK YOU TOO, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. (All else aside, domestic violence just isn’t funny. I fully support all of Daemon’s atrocities, but only as long as they are funny. Going back to my Larys comparison, I had the same problem with the foot fetish scene.) - Laena. Honestly, that one was just too little too late. I have absolutely no idea why the fuck show!Daemon married her, that’s the first problem; but also even outside of that, the relationship is criminally underdeveloped. Now I could headcannon myself into oblivion, but ultimately the fault lies with the writers. They should’ve given us so much more than they did! - His kids (and stepkids). Look, I was just as hyped for daddy Daemon as anyone, but “loves his kids, but isn’t good enough in sincere emotional expression to bond with them”... Well, I can get behind that. The fact that they cut so many nicer moments of him with his children still leaves me salty. - Velaryons, Corlys and Laenor especially. Honestly, this show needed more Velaryons, period. Like, seeing Daemon with actual buddies was so nice, I wish we got more than a little sprinkle here and there around their relationship. Their reactions his marriage to Rhaenyra are not shown, the failure of Daemon’s friendship with Corlys skipped over, the fact that Daemon and Laenor have been fighting together for years and that Laenor kind of respects Daemon completely ignored... Just. Tons of absolutely fascinating character stuff thrown in the bin, because our best boys and girls don’t deserve the attention payed to Aegon the Trashy wanking. Again, fuck you.

Basically, Daemon works very well as a funny evil man with some hints of psychological issues, but I wished he as a character could be developed beyond that and he just... Wasn’t.

I have pros and cons to the places that Ai has been to and/or likes

Hell:

Pros:

Her house is actually pretty nice looking. And surprisingly safe.

The Sins are around and really don't mind providing support for Ai's children when needed (Eliza, Siran's daughter, was basically a test run so it's nothing new to them)

Living in hell would quickly help them find their sense of purpose; if they don't get their shit straight, they're getting pushed aside by the rest of society

Would give them a really good understanding of religion

Ai would be around a lot more and she wouldn't constantly be freaking the fuck out because she knows her surroundings

No one would fuck with them

Cons:

Ai can easily hide all the bullshit she's done from Alexi because he's never been to hell. If they're there a majority of the time, Ai would either have to get herself together (which wouldn't last long from what we know rn) or just let herself be an asshole and become a bad example

The weather. The fuckin weather 😭 half of the time it isn't Ai's fault either it just sucks ass

It can get hot. Like really hot. Not in the house tho

Nash. Aquinas. Showing their true colors.

Politics get mad stressful and they'll probably get looped into it too early

Speaking of which, they might mature too quickly 💀 hell isn't the place to have a calm life

High expectations

Pros:

Atlas and Orion are usually kinda patrolling when Ai isn't around. They wouldn't really be the worst babysitters either

Safe for the most part

There's little to no conflict ever

They get scary dog privileges from Nash and technically Ai too

Cons:

If anything negative were to happen, it would literally shatter the world and send everyone into panic. They're not used to potential conflict so they haven't prepared for big things like that

Prejudice. It's easy to shove it under the rug for a while but really, what happens when the world isn't used to people being different? There's hate. Nostea is still getting used to the existence of hybrids so that might become a problem

They might even become spoiled

They might struggle to make true friends but the chance is kinda low

Everday Havens or Twilight Rifts:

Pros:

So fuckin calm. Like if the cottagecore aesthetic was perfect. Like it's fuckin amazing

Heavily magic based realm. Ai probably wouldn't want her kids to get too used to the mundane anyway

Everyday Havens specific: The weather is always nice

Neutral:

It's pretty empty. It's not like the place is unknown, it's just hard to get there for people who haven't been there before, so there's only going to be a few people around and the houses are really spaced out

RANDOM GRAVES. It's not like they're just lying about and you're gonna step on a dead body or something but you could be running around in one of the big fields and randomly see "Rest in Peace __" like okay girl...They're not that common...but they're there so I just put it as a neutral

Twilight Rifts specific: Questionable weather. Like it can get pretty damn bad when there's rain or snow, but it looks beautiful when it's sunny out

Everyday Havens specific: Its never really sunny out. 70% of the day is just a few hours after midday or sunset and the other 30% is night time.

Cons:

Fairly underdeveloped area so there's not much going on. Better get used to walking because there aren't any cars unless you magically conjure one up

Sometimes there's too much magic. Like shit will just break or randomly become created for like no reason. Usually there are warning signs around where it would usually happen, but there aren't signs for every area

Power can go out pretty easily

People have a very fast moving way of life. That can be good and bad depending on the person who's asked

aw man im so baffled with the amount of utahime content that the majority revolves areound gojo while everyone is collectively forgetting that she's so underdeveloped and only is there to serve and push the plot forward but it doesn't change the fact that she's secondary character and will simply remain that and that the end of the manga you will see the lot of them fisting the wall because their non basis pairing didn't have even an infinitesimal chance of becoming canon smh because they only thing it had going for them is the hcs fans created in hopes to make utahime a different person aka a tsundere

its kinda concerning that people love to build relationships on problematic behaviours and no respect whereas you have shoko who utahime greately respects and loves, as proven and stated in her character profile aswell where for gojo its stated that she "hates" him rather seriously so yeah, reminds me when you said that they will use even the smallest of detail to confirm their ship

they simply don't contrast each other at all, they have no way of serving the plot in any thematic nor relevant way, let alone for gege to connect them like that, why are people so obsessed with typical prelevant stereotype where woman has bad feelings about a man = peak romance is beyound me, do girls or women love being teased by men like that? constantly disrespected? have they forgotten about the patriarchy in JJK that gege doesn't shy away from pointing out? to say that utahime can handle gojo is an understatement, she only handles him because she has to, and gojo's whole 'not respecting your elders thing' the fact that he said it doesn't matter to him when she said that he should respect her because she's older? astonishing, if only someone would bother to look past the romance goggles and realize that not every relationship builds on annoyance and if he's mean to me he likes me crap >> and this got long but i just wanted to share my observations regarding utahime in this fandom thats all

wasn't going to answer anymore asks abt gohime since ppl veered into offensive vitriolic territory in my askbox when i repeatedly stated over and over i don’t have problems with the ship but instead utahime’s problematic characterization and the tendency to misconstrue no as yes and the prevalence and problematic aspect of this trope especially as it’s used in shoujo manga (and shoujo jjk is not) i will answer this one tho since u made several legitimate Good Points that i agree with

but also i have to counter with the fact that a majority of fandom IS making things up that aren't there to begin with (think rarepairs) and it’s not going to stop. im sure there are good believable gohime fics out there that actually do justice to the small amounts of utahime's characters we do see where she isn't a tsundere and gojo actually addresses his disrespect towards her. some people just like the character dynamic and think it would be interesting some people just like the characters. i don’t necessarily think people have to justify it or anything. in the end all i care about utahime being done dirty by the fandom by making her into a caricature....ppl will latch onto utahime bc she’s a canon character that has little development and is virtually a blank state for people to project onto and ship with gojo aka someone who they like. it’s nothing really new. like still no hate but atp i just think they should make an OC or a reader insert 😭

Overall, I really enjoyed the episode. The stakes are high and I’m glad the other relationships are getting screen time. The balance was good this week, I wish it was like this every week. My only issue is how underdeveloped the plot was this episode, but beside that it was pretty good.

Hello there, popping in to say I really appreciate your thoughts on Wanda re: her role in MOM and most especially, brown hair being superior for her. While the ginger color actually looked nicer than usual in the trailer, brunette Wanda is my Wanda lol

But I think that anon saying Wanda might have brown hair underneath the red may actually be right. I thought they were just confusing her hair being in shadow as brown but there's a shot of the back of her head when she's by the tree where there's a very clear divide in color in the strands of her braid. It's an interesting way to show her hair going back to brown but I'll personally take anything at this point.

Also, what's your take on making Wanda a villain in the 'right' way? I keep seeing people say that just making her possibly possessed/corrupted by the darkhold is a cop out and they should give her agency in these decisions to make a better character, and if Wandavision didn't happen I'd be inclined to agree. But it would be complete regression to go from freeing Westview at the expense of her family... only to (allegedly lol) start murdering a bunch of people to get her family back.

Like, as much as the darkhold is a copout, to me, at least, it's preferable if they HAVE to make Wanda this big scary villain. Wanda making a choice to go full villain after WV is the real regression. Being possessed puts her character in stagnation, not ideal since we won't get proper development until the next project she's in, but at least I can shrug my shoulders and say 'well at least she doesn't MEAN to murder people, it's the demon book making her do it'. Guess at this point I'm really trying to have this mindset about it going forward so I can just sit back, relax, and try to enjoy Wanda being evil and looking cool and beautiful doing it.

I think the problem is multi-faceted

- Wanda was already introduced as an antagonist, in Age of Ultron. And her motivations there were underdeveloped enough as they were. a Stark brand missile = lifelong murdergrudge against Tony Stark and the Avengers instead of the conveniently unspecified faction that launched the missile in the first place? do we really think the conveniently unspecified faction that launched the missile that killed their parents wouldn't have just launched a generic brand missile if Stark Industries didn't exist? i digress but u know they shot themselves (and wanda fans..) in the foot right then and there with all that and the hydra stuff

- But she's clearly been trying to move forward from that shady backstory and use her powers for good to redeem herself. If interviews are to be believed, she wants to be whatever she thinks the side of good is

- Aside from her lowest point in WandaVision, which she specifically emerges from, which is specifically meant to be a big deal for her arc, you never see her toy with the idea of... let's be a lil bad, as a treat. There's no Walter White descent that she never rises back from. WandaVision could've laid stronger villain foundations, but it seemed like they wanted to have their cake and eat it to. Had us question her morality for a hot sec and then went like "oh she was just being blinded by grief but she's obviously still GOOD because she's giving up her fantasy life". and the narrative even goes as far as to coddle her with Hayward being an absolute Joke and Darcy/Jimmy/Monica collectively going out of their way to sympathize with her

- and all of that, only for her to go evil and/or possessed all along? narratively, that's a nah from me. Both options would still leave me calling it bad storytelling. Possession is cheap directly after a story specifically about her agency. Willfully turning child-hunting neck-snapping dimension-destroying levels of evil also seems cheap after the same story went out of its way to tell us she's Still Good Yep Still Good. But her story is unfortunately already rooted in kinda bad storytelling, so would it surprise me if they went with that anyway? noooo...

- anyway I'm already expecting it to be kind of bad, because Raimi doesn't have a great track record with writing complex powerful witches, and it feels like MCU (Marvel in general,,) as a whole doesn't know what her throughline is supposed to be. They're kind of making her up as they go, with different projects and teams (Whedon vs Russos vs Schaeffer vs Raimi) doing different things. The moment I simply accepted this as My Truth, the happier I became eating up the cool shots and scenes and independent moments and visuals for what they are. It's all capeshit,, always has been,,,,,,,,

(i will print this entire wall of text and happily eat it if multiverse of madness ends up being a masterpiece (or at least Not Bad) for her character)

Surprise surprise I have Thoughts about Peacemaker ^-^ (and how he neatly ties up the themes of freewill in WoF arcs 1 & 2)

//spoilers for like. all of the first 10 WoF books but esp the very end of Darkness of Dragons

god my feelings about the end of the second arc are Numerous and Complicated and basically revolve around the three obvious Things; Peacemaker, Qibli-Winter-Moon love triangle, & Anemone saying lesbian rights. Lets start off with that first thing tho:

-full disclosure I actually like Peacemaker ngl. Like its smart Kinkajou got her moment to shine (fucking FINALLY) etc etc. But I also don't think it was, like, a morally good or fine thing to do? But! I also think that was kind of the point!! kinda?

-(also even more important disclosure, I honestly don't like Darkstalker much at all, though if it wins me any favors I do think he's interesting and complex and all!)

-Ok listen so the series is like,, basically about freewill, right? It's kinda the central thesis of the series (or at least the first two arcs lmao that's all I've read lmao); is destiny something made for your or something you choose. Ya know, is Tsunami destined to be queen because she's the lost heir, are Animus's destined to loose their souls, if Peril is 'choosing' who she's devoted to is that freewill and/or how do you develop independence when you've never made a choice before, can Turtle avoid all the bullshit of the world by trying to keep his head down (no <3) was Moon destined to release Darkstalker all along, if you've been under mind warping mind control shenanigans' is your mind really your own and are you capable of making choices, etc etc I can do this with like most characters its REALLY prevalent in the series lmao.

-Anyway! the question posed by the series is 'can you choose your destiny or is it made for you?'. in the first five books there's one obvious massive driving force for this; the prophecy. Sunny is the only one really invested in the prophecy itself, Tsunami thinks it's all bull and is basically offended by the notion, Clay thinks they should just do their best, Starflight believes the prophecy will happen regardless so he's chill, and Glory is disillusioned and apathetic about it.

-Then they reveal that the prophecy is hogwash, and Sunny still believes in it anyway because it's what her whole life was based around and without it her life is meaningless. So her whole arc is finding another meaning in life with Thorn and the Outclaws and then choosing to do her best to fulfill the prophecy anyway, because someone has to and no one else will. So she chooses to do the prophecy, but it's a fake prophecy so it is her choice not something predestined for her, so there. Free will exists and is good and prophecies don't because no one can tell the future end arc

-then you start the next book with a protagonist that can tell prophecies For Real, and you get a little scared they're gonna backpedal or retread the same ground, but don't worry because the definitely-not-evil voice in her head and conveniently knows all about her powers so he can assure everyone that prophecies are not set in stone, just some most likely futures. Free will still exists Tsunami stans, dw

-And they can do that because the prophecy is not the question of the second series- Darkstalker is.

-The thing about the Darkstalker conflict is that it's about Utilitarianism, ya know? Like, he comes out and he says 'I can see all the futures, and I can tell for sure exactly which outcomes make the most dragons happy, and I have the power to not only see them but manifest them'. He doesn't care for other dragon's freewill- as long as they're happy or content or powerful, why would it matter if they got helped along there a little bit?

-OKAY so took us a hot second to get here! But! Peacemaker!

-It's valid and interesting I think because it kinda pushes the whole conflict into a paradox; they can't let Darkstalker carry on like he is, because he thinks he knows best for all of dragonkind and will do anything to get his version of a happy ending. But the only way to stop him from being a god emperor who's fundamental flaw is his lack of care about other dragon's free will and agency. And the only way to stop him and get an ending that's good for everyone is to take away his free will.

-It's the Batman no killing rule. it's that one DLC from Fallout 3 that's actually kind of good. If they're all in 100% on the 'free will matters above all else' angle, they can't stop Darkstalker because he doesn't want to be stopped. It'd be a utilitarian move, putting the needs of the many over the needs of the few, which goes against the Whole Entire Thing

-But! Darkstalker is also delusional and a narcist and an aspiring all powerful god emperor bent on wiping out or driving other tribes into hiding forever who just sucks, like, so much. So of course they turn him into a literal child without power lmao it wasn't really a question, it's just the ideological battle happening in the background. And it's what makes peacemaker so interesting!

-first of all, it's Kinkajou, the one who was most recently under a mind altering spell that she loathed. She hated anemone for even thinking about it and is still a little bitter, but when push came to shove, she's the one that did that to Darkstalker. It wasn't even just a 'make him the same dragon fundamentally but without the trauma and magic'- she changed his body (by turning him half Nightwing) and planted interests in his head (strawberries) and (is at least implied?) to have made him literally incapable of much evil. Like Moon confirms that in his head he isn't the same dragon at all.

-And like I get it! She is, very understandably, erring as far on the side of caution as physically possible! I'd do the same! It's not a diss or anything, and I’m certainly not saying that Kinkajou is just as bad as Darkstalker or will/can go on to be so! Not even a little lmao

-it's just. Interesting. Like, if you think about it, they did the same thing Darkstalker was doing to Fierceteeth for Clearsight, after everyone was loudly and visibly repulsed by it. It's the same thing that happened with Pyrite and Hailstorm, except entirely irreversible. Like that isn’t Darkstalker there anyway you slice it, for all intents and purposes he’s dead. but it's ok because he was a 'bad dragon' with no friends or family that would miss him in that form.

-Basically the first arc said 'free will is always the way to go and there's no justification for taking it away ever' and the second arc spent all of it's time building up to 'sometimes sacrifices have to be made'. So like everyone complains about it being tonally dissonant and out of character and a crop out and everything and I get that and I'm not saying that's objectively wrong or a bad take or anything! And, like most things in DoD, it was admittedly rushed and at least mildly underdeveloped lmao. But that's my first hot take, and hopefully my longest lmao

okay now im wondering something: what would ray be like if his mother was, you know, actually a good person (or at least less awful to him)?

oh boy a Lot of stuff would be different... i think hed still be that reserved introvert type, but definitely a lot less uptight (tho he is hardworking almost by nature? so its not like hed be Easygoing either, just not so serious)

she gives him a whole lot of different kinds of emotional damage so i think hed be pretty much unrecognizable personality wise. a lot of it is self worth issues and emotional underdevelopment/repression, plus discouraging him from being sociable in general making him so unhealthily withdrawn. and theres also uh! other stuff i havent told most of you about yet.

he would definitely be a lot more of a team player, and more straightforward about caring for others rather than having this tsundere streak we all know him for. less feelings of general unworthiness but thats not gone completely since not meeting his father also kinda messed him up, just not as much as his mothers whole Existence. he would be generally more cheerful from being more encouraged to pursue things he actually has passion for, and his obsession with everything being predestined wouldnt exist. probabably would be a lot more naive too, since he wouldnt have seen certain things

tldr, mommy issues are a very integral part of his character from a psychological standpoint so hed pretty much be a different person ghfvfbj

1. see the thing is that 90% of my hcs can’t be described with words bc they’re just.. feelings.. aesthetics.. vibes.. vague scenarios that make me feel some sort of way… the dark au has a certain Feel and i just stick a bunch of domestic concepts in there and shake it all up and that’s it shshsh

3. i was fully serious that one time i said on twitter that voldemort’s no.1 priority after taking over the wizarding world was doing sth about his snace (snake face) so yeah. first things first he’s not as fugly in the dark au. as mentioned previously he just looks like mr. ralph and probably wears ornate haute couture power suits

4. the public doesn’t actually know who the augurey is for YEARS… they know whoever it is is voldemort’s second in command and sure there’s rumors that he has an heir but nobody knows it’s delphi. this way she doesn’t have to be reclusive and hide away, she just lives her life, studies and trains, masters the art of dark magic, hangs around town etc, and no one suspects anything bc who would think this tiny super friendly innocent looking girl is the dark lord’s kid — her identity isn’t revealed until she’s deemed Ready to publicly take up her position. and when she is revealed it’s a Big Moment bc she’s a drama queen and lives for attention

5. delphi is taller than bellatrix

6. speaking of bellatrix. she’s presumed dead after the battle of hogwarts which turns out to be a cool bonus for the dark side. any leftover resistance? she’ll take care of that and they’ll never see her coming. tbh this seems a lot cooler in my head bc movie bellatrix would not be stealthy enough to stay hidden for years she would probs trip over something and accidentally commit arson within a few days. but yeah sneaky assassin sounds sexy. plus to be super honest i imagine bella is a teensy bit more collected than in the films... no shade at helena y’all know i would die for her but there are in fact things i would change about her bella. so yeah for a while the only people who know she’s alive aside from her immediate family are probs rod and the malfoys

7. hm so. the malfoys…. much to think about. narcissa did lie to voldemort’s face during the battle so logically he should have killed her the moment he realized she knew harry was alive all along. but this is a soft dark au so let’s pretend bellatrix was like hey dude don’t kill my sister maybe and voldemort was like k. i mean no harm done, harry potter is properly dead in this universe after all

8. but seriously tho. the only reason voldemort didn’t yeet narcissa into a wall was for bella’s sake. he’s nice like that, he probably promised her at one point that he wouldn’t violently murder her family. peak romance

9. delphi is surprisingly close with both her parents although with voldemort it’s more of a mentor-student relationship than a parent-child one bc he’s Like That. growing up it was always bella who insisted they treat delphi more like a child and less like a weapon and voldemort wasn’t always happy about that bc he’s emotionally constipated and also never had a childhood. also he’s, like, evil. so yes, reminding voldemort that delphi was her daughter too sometimes got bella in trouble bc we all know of voldemort’s superiority issues. but no bella didn’t stop insisting that delphi deserved an actual childhood and in the end they compromised like functional adults and delphi turned out pretty well for someone raised by 2 of the most terrifying people alive

10. but yeah that’s not to say voldemort and kid delphi never had soft moments. they did. he even picked her up every once in a while. everyone was surprised, bella most of all. she probably cried in the bathroom later bc the softness overwhelmed her. i’m not sure if i mean that in a sarcastic shitpost kind of way or if she was really moved to tears. y’all decide for yourselves

11. delphi looks very very much like bella but she has tom riddley eyes.. so dark they’re nearly black. and soulless. maybe they even flash red when she’s enraged. and she has very aristocratic very controlled tom riddley mannerisms. it’s not until you piss her off and she goes off the rails that the bella side of her personality kicks in

12. delphi gets along really well with the malfoys (except lucius. she thinks he’s pathetic and likes to tease him. in a friendly way but it’s still harsh. she gets that from her mom) esp scorp. scorp thinks this makes him cool at school bc he gets to fist bump the augurey and not get murdered for it

13. speaking of hogwarts. umbridge is scared shitless of delphi and it’s always a school-wide spectacle when the augurey drops by unexpectedly on official business and umbridge starts stuttering and quivering. scorp sometimes makes a point to approach umbridge and delphi when they’re talking and act all chummy-chummy with his cousin just to make himself look powerful and Cool in front of umbridge and the other students

14. i still don’t know whether voldemort would call delphi ‘delphini’ or just ‘delphi’… i imagine he’s a strict stick-up-his-ass kinda father but who knows. he does call bellatrix ‘bella’ but that’s different i guess

15. but THEN AGAIN he does have a gigantic soft spot for delphi too. maybe he slips up every so often and calls her delphi. i’m literally making this shit up as i go along i’m just smashing my mf keyboard and occasionally glancing at my messy hcs notebook. I TOLD YALL i don’t have solid hcs i just have VIBES and AESTHETICS. the only way you’ll get specific hcs out of me is if you ask very specific questions

16. weirdest brotp is delphi and rodolphus. nobody knows where that came from but they get along so well and it confuses everybody

17. we been knew that bella is batshit crazy and criminally insane or whatever but against all odds she is a surprisingly good mother. she’s always been soft for family (narcissa etc) so it makes sense that she would legit die for delphi. they have this super casual bantery relationship YALL GET ME bella is so proud of delphi she’s literally that “my little baby off to destroy people” meme!!! honestly mother-daughter relationships are my goddamn weakness i would die for the two of them

18. delphi has a gf (underdeveloped oc time!) who, for the longest time, doesn’t know who she is dating bc delphi is obviously not allowed to say. she finds out the truth eventually and she is properly freaked out for a very very long time. and since all of these hcs are stupidly soft we’re just gonna keep making them softer: the gf is terrified of delphi’s parents at first (obvs) but they’re both extremely fond of her (well, bella is, voldemort probs doesn’t care all that much about who delphi is dating so long as she’s not of subpar blood status or secretly spying for the opposition ya know. as long as delphi trusts her he does too)

19. no but really voldemort trusts delphi and bella implicitly. with delphi it’s bc he raised her and he trusts her to be loyal bc she knows no other way, she was meant to be an extension of his power etc. but with bella it’s something he learns over time, to trust her judgement bc despite her many many flaws she’s very perceptive and usually right

20. voldemort probably makes more horcruxes. still haven’t decided how this ties in with the fact that he’s now safely immortal again and neither delphi nor bella are. who knows maybe they all do the do and split their souls. much to think about. feel free to send ur thots and ideas my way

21. ya know im basic and always on my bellamort bs and therefore: as the years go by voldemort warms up to bella. not that he wasn’t already extremely fond of her before but he kicks it up a notch. i mean, he’s already taken over the world so it’s high time to start experimenting with other wilder things like Feelings. 80/90 years old isn’t too late to experience Love or whatever. might as well wake up one day and realize you’re completely and utterly in love with the woman you’ve spent the last 50+ years with whew. 28. going back to #6 — when the public finally finds out that bella’s alive they obviously start to wonder about her and voldemort and connect the dots re: delphi etc but nobody ever gets any concrete answers bc there’s never any public pda.. any sort of affection is limited to when it’s just the two of them. and obviously it’s not like voldemort gossips about his private life in tabloid interviews or whatnot. ALSO the whole Bella Is Alive reveal isn’t nearly as dramatic as delphi’s big moment.. it’s more discreet and insidious in that way it implies that she was there hiding in plain sight all along. and if the ministry can keep sth this big a secret, what else are they hiding.. ah classic intimidation tactics of an authoritarian regime

29. i dont think this is ever stated in the CC but in terms of politics and bureaucracy i imagine voldemort has a fancy office in the ministry and spends 99% of his time there and rarely spends any time out and about. he’s almost never seen by anyone, rarely attends events etc. delphi’s the one who handles the day to day shit in the wizarding world. she’s like.. the public relations manager.. between the public and voldemort

30. bella is of similar status within the ministry but that’s just bc people are scared shitless of her. she doesn’t actually hold any political power and she most certainly does not want to, that is not her area of expertise at all

32. re: #21 it’s like. as voldemort warms up to bella, she in turn chillaxes a bit with the whole blind devotion thing and becomes bolder with him like. she’ll outright question his decisions or tell him what he should do, make judgement calls etc. and it becomes a regular thing.. turns into this casual companionship ya feel.. i won’t say they become equals bc that’s just unrealistic but he certainly stops treating her like his inferior. he recognizes her value and i daresay her authority and stops treating her like shit all the time Wow Romance Is Alive!! (this sounds like some sort of “douche fuckboi changes for his poor mistreated love interest” schtick but it’s really not that bc they’re both monstrous people who do not deserve any pity so jot that down. they’re horrible and they deserve each other and they eventually do make it work and i am so so happy for them)

33. it is never outright stated that voldemort can’t love. jkr has said that he doesn’t understand love and that it’s just symbolism!!! that he’s the child of a loveless union and grew up without knowing love!!! BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN HE PHYSICALLY CANNOT LOVE thanks for coming 2 my ted talk. i wasn’t aware of this until a few months ago and i was thrilled to find out my soft hcs are not entirely ooc after all

THEY ARE A SEMI-FUNCTIONAL FAMILY and i just really love soft domestic scenarios so sorry jkr but the dark au is the only canon now and it belongs to me. everybody has feelings and everything is soft. i’d like to pitch an idea for a kuwtk style reality show but it’s these 3 sociopaths under one roof navigating family life and wizarding world politics

37. bella and voldemort never get married. obviously, because that’s a disgustingly romantic and pointless thing to do. it’s sentimental and unnecessary (well, voldemort thinks so, bella might just disagree but she’s not about to force his hand) BUT that’s not to say they’re not basically an old married couple anyway. AND as much as voldemort thinks love is weakness or whatever he knows this, that they’re about as close as two people can get. SO if he just so happens to gift her a ring.. well it’s a purely symbolic gesture but the implication is definitely there
