‘Lovecraft Country’ TV Review: HBO’s Modern Classic Depicts Our Society Through Past, Present, and Future. HBO’s “Lovecraft Country” is one of the most ambitious TV series in recent years. It’s a true art of storytelling, which is supposed to be challenging by showing us who we were, who we are, and how we can become better. There’re lots of elements inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s writings, but creator Misha Green and producer Jordan Peele turn these inspirations into something you’ve never seen before. “Lovecraft Country” reveals the historical wounds of culture, slavery, violence, and sexual assault. The series also portrays how these wounds shape our culture and continue to hurt the Black community nowadays.
