I put together an appreciation post for the casting on The Night Mothers, since the SAG strike is not yet resolved (but hopefully will be by next week. Hopefully), I thought I'd give these artists some extra appreciation in their extraordinary supporting roles.
Their screen presences left a strong impression as they portrayed Witches of Dathomir in live-action for the first time. Very mysterious and powerful. These three characters were crucial to the world-building and atmosphere on Peridea surrounding Thrawn.
As others have pointed out, the names Aktropaw, Klothow, and Lakesis evoke the fates of Greek myth, Atropos, Clotho, and Lachesis.
Aktropaw - portrayed by Jeryl Prescott
Jeryl Prescott has a long IMDB cv, working on many shows including The Walking Dead. She has a PhD in American Lit.
Klothow - portrayed by Claudia Black
Claudia Black is known to a lot of people as a sci-fi legend. She was in Farscape, Stargate, and a lot of other things. She was born in Australia and has also done stage work such as playing Portia in a touring production of The Merchant of Venice.
Lakesis - portrayed by Jane Edwina Seymour
Jane Edwina Seymour also has a long list of IMDB credits in various shows, films, and shorts, and did the body acting (with voice by Alice Krige) for The Borg Queen in Star Trek: Picard season 3.

Unpregnant (2020) - Movie Review
Based on the novel “Unpregnant” by Jenni Hendriks and Ted Caplan
CW: Subject of abortion.
Veronica Clarke (Haley Lu Richardson) is a 17 year old high school student who finds out that she’s pregnant, however based on the laws in Missouri and growing up in a very religious household, she decides to travel out of state to potentially take care of the situation. She enlists the help of her former best friend Bailey Butler (Barbie Ferreira) because when rumors fly and your current friends are at the center of the investigation, you kinda need someone on the outside that you can trust. The two then set out on a road trip to really test who they are as humans.
Now I did not read the book, but I had heard of it and seen it at the library, so I knew it was becoming a movie, I just can’t tell you whether it was true to the book or not. Here’s what I can tell you though, Unpregnant was a decent teen buddy movie. It’s a “let’s get the old gang back together because the current situation ain’t it and I need real people,” kind of movie. It’s also fairly honest about people with uteruses and the length they may have to go to for bodily autonomy, especially before they’re adults. Note: This movie and it’s book were made before the overturning of Roe vs Wade, however I think its subject matter is just as timely now as it was back in 2020 and way before that.
I think most people will agree with me when I say that one of the better parts of the movie is that most of the good and safe people in the film were all either POC or LGBTQ. Of course that’s putting a lot of the saving of the white woman on POC and LGBTQ people, for me though, it just gave more of an irony vibe that I could smile at. Like yes you should trust the cool lesbian friend or the random guy you just met and the Black man who is hiding from the government.
To go along with that, this story is still riding on a ton of privilege. They poke a lot at the “safeness” of the road trip that these girls are on, to get us to laugh, but we all know that in real life the danger of a trip like that, for the reason they’re taking it, is so much more elevated and less comical. Not saying that it wasn’t an enjoyable film, just that it was done through a lighter YA book lens and we have to grade the curve on that. There are very serious chunks of the movie that are done fairly well, but then there are also BIG comedy scenes (probably to break the seriousness up) that kinda bring things down a little bit.
Unpregnant is in most part about friendship and conquering fears. It fits in right along with other teen, coming-of-age movies that have been made in the last like 8 years or so and if you’ve enjoyed any of those I think you’ll like this one too.

Soundtrack Single Shout-Out:
I Love Me Too - Kirby
I realized that before anything else, I’d actually heard of this movie by way of the artist Kirby doing an episode of The Terrell Show and introducing me to her and then this song being introduced to me shortly after. Basically I’m just here to shout out the fantastic Kirby, who’s written many of your favorite pop songs and that best song on the Unpregnant soundtrack. I love this song so much and if you need a new self-love anthem, you are more than welcome!

All the Black Femmes || The Walking Dead
I really didn’t do tags for all of the uncredited and/or one time appearances, and I ONLY used IMDB for the set, so if they didn’t have a photo on there, I didn’t include. Still wanted to put them on the list though.
Similar to the Star Wars ATBF POST, I’ve provided the BFCD links to the characters that are featured on the blog and also the actresses playing the roles, if I found any content for them. I didn’t bother with the nameless characters, as I definitely didn’t have the energy to search for their content in the various TWD tags, but I still included the links to their tags for this blog, in case you’d like to see their faces again (since most likely their The Walking Dead portrayal didn’t get a lot of screen time).
Characters with existing content:
Annie | Arat | Bertie | Connie | Cyndie | Jacqui | Max | Michonne | Nabila | Nora | Sasha
Wikis for those who I couldn’t find content for:
Briana | Dr. Stevens | Jeanette | Jenny Jones (Morgan’s Wife) | Jocelyn | Maya (Alexandria, Listed only as “Woman” on IMDB) | Maya (Meridian) | Sally | Vickers | Zia
BFCD Links to The Stars: Content will be added as becomes available
Danai Gurira | Sonequa Martin Green | Lauren Ridloff | Angel Theory | Elizabeth Faith Ludlow | Medina Senghore | Tamara Austin | Nadine Marisa | Margot Bingham | Karen Ceesay | Sydney Park | Jeryl Prescott | Rutina Wesley | Donzaleigh Abernathy | Brianna Butler | Yvette Nicole Brown | Ciera Payton | Sharon Conley | Shellita Boxie |
