「まず、ジャニーと私の父・良一の出会いから話します。1950年に、父が歌手の笠置シヅ子さんと『ブギ海を渡る』を持ってアメリカ巡業ツアーをしたのです。8月11日にハワイ公演、9月1日から3日間はロサンゼルス公演でした。会場は高野山ホールという高野山真言宗の直営ホールで、当時の高野山真言宗米国別院の第3代主監が喜多川諦道氏。ジャニー喜多川の父です。
諦道氏は『ボーイスカウト第379隊』の結成に尽力したり、プロ野球球団『ゴールドスター』のマネジャーも務めていたという多芸多才な方だと、今回ネットで知り���した。ロスの日系社会で声望が高かったそうです。息子のジャニーは当時19歳。姉のメリーと共にコンサート会場を駆け回り、大人顔負けの接待役を発揮し、父や笠置さん、服部富子（叔母で『満州娘』の大ヒットで知られる歌手）、スタッフたちのマスコット的存在だったそうです」
「同じ年の6月に勃発した朝鮮戦争で、ジャニーはアメリカ国民として徴兵され、従軍するのですが、ある日、突然、彼が新宿区若松町の家にカーキ色の軍服姿で現れました。パパ（良一）と叔母は、それを見るなり『ヒーボー（ジャニー氏の本名・擴からこう呼んでいた）！ ウワー、大きくなって』と歓声をあげて出迎えました。
それから、何回か若松町に遊びに来ました。今でも忘れられない光景があります。玄関にうずくまり、軍靴をゆっくりと編み上げている彼の姿です。家族はそれを囲んで一言も言わずじっと見つめていました。それから彼は立ち上がり、私たちに別れの挨拶をするでなく、『あー、行きたくないなー』と一言。
今思うと、2世差別の残る戦場へ向かう彼の姿を中国戦線での慰問経験をもつパパと叔母は、どんな思いで見ていたのだろうと思います。ジャニーは朝鮮戦争から帰還し、その翌年日本に戻り、除隊後には米大使館軍事顧問団に勤務したといいます。それで再び、服部家に出入りするようになったのです」
「ジャニーはワシントンハイツ（代々木にあった進駐軍宿舎）に住んでいて、時々、お土産をもって服部家を訪ねてくるんです。ハーシーのチョコレートやハンバーガー、フライドポテト、アイスクリームなど。PX（基地内の売店）で手に入れたものでしょう。当時の日本は皆貧しいですからね、ハーシーのチョコなんて高根の花でした。うちは比較的裕福とはいっても、進駐軍の物資の豊かさは別世界です。
ある時、冷蔵庫が運ばれてきたのでびっくりしました。父が彼に頼んで買ったものでしょうけど、当時は氷を置いて冷やす簡易冷蔵庫しかない時代です。冷蔵庫・洗濯機・テレビが三種の神器と呼ばれて主婦が憧れたのは1960年代の初めですからね」
国民栄誉賞作曲家の次男がジャニー喜多川氏からの性被害を告白 「8歳の時に自宅部屋で…」

Who are your favourite guys from Johnny's?
Hmmm, there are a few but I do like Kamenashi Kazuya, I have seen a lot of whumpy dramas he's been in like Kaitou Yamaneko and Yokai Ningen Bem which I have enjoyed. But I also like Yamapi's works (he's got great whump stuff in In Hand), as well as Ikuta Toma who does amazing in Ouroboros.
But music wise I don't mind Hey! Say! JUMP, Kis-My-Ft2 and Sexy Zone, amongst others, but my music taste is significantly heavier than most groups Johnny's have produced, as they are mainly idol groups. I prefer Visual Kei and rock :)
