Nyx Week 2023… Day 2: Storm!
I think these prompts for Nyx Week are just going to end up as little teasers for my new story I’m working on, it’s currently untitled and I’m still in the middle of writing the prologue but I have a lot of ideas for it ☺️
“Something’s happening” Nyx said as he watched the hive of activity coming to and from the Citadel. Their current vantage point was at the top of the Glaives training facility, he, Pelna, Crowe and Libertus were sitting on the roof that overlooked the Citadel’s courtyard.
“Look there’s the Captain” Crowe pointed to the familiar figure leaving the Citadel, “even from here you can tell he’s angry” the other 3 had to agree with her, Drautos stormed past a couple of Crownsguard who quickly moved out of the way or else the Captain would have probably knocked them over.
Nyx watched the Captain as he continued on his way back to the Kingsglaive HQ
“Something’s wrong,” Nyx muttered, “something’s happened in the Citadel, there has to be… he’s not usually that pissed after a standard meeting.” Just then their ear pieces crackled into life
“All Glaives” it was Luche “report to the briefing room in 30 minutes”
“What’s going on, Luche?” Nyx asked
“The Captain didn’t say, but he sounded angry, if I were you Nyx, I wouldn’t antagonise him further” after that their radios fell silent
“Well… you heard Luche” Nyx said as he stood up “besides it looks like the Captain isn’t the only one in a foul mood” he added as he nodded to the black storm clouds above the city.
Thunder rumbled loudly as the Glaive assembled in the briefing room waiting for their Captain, lightning flashed shortly after, causing long shadows to flicker on the floor. The Captain was due in, any minute now, so all of the Glaive were standing to attention; Nyx was standing next to Pelna, Luche was next to Tredd, Libertus was next to Crowe on the opposite side of Pelna.
“Luche, Nyx” the Captain’s voice came through their ear pieces “my office, now.” Nyx leant forward and made eye contact with Luche as another clap of thunder sounded above them, Luche nodded and broke formation, Nyx followed.
“I hope the Captain isn’t as angry as Ramuh is right now” Nyx whispered to Luche as they made their way to the Captain’s office
“This is the worst storm I’ve seen while I’ve been in Insomnia” Luche agreed “it seems like a bad omen”
