It's raining outside of the Krueger Corporation's CEO office
Today is Sunday and yet Albert is inside his office. Usually one would be at home on their weekend but well Albert is quite a unique man anyway, he's not like the "mediocre people"
"Huh strange I thought it should be sunny on a Sunday ": Albert thought his hands under his chin, sitting on his armchair. "Man I'm bored". Boredom is an inevitable thing in this life and its victims are everyone including Albert of course
"Maybe chatting with someone could help me ease this boredom. Oh right she might be the perfect one for that": Albert smirking with the thought. Who is he thinking about you might ask? Well you will find out soon enough~. With a snap of his fingers,a young woman appeared sitting on the armchair before Albert.
The woman has short black hair that stop at her shoulder and ebony eyes, she is wearing a long dark wine dress with a turtle neck on top. Her skirt is long and pleated which reach pass her kneecaps. She's also wearing black thigh high sock and brown boots. Her hair is adorned with a red rose accessory
"Wh-what the hell??!!!!!" The woman said shockingly, she didn't want to here at all. Anyone would be shocked if they just got teleported to a different place suddenly. She was enjoying her day off, reading a novel, drinking hibiscus tea at her apartment only to abruptly get sent to the dream therapist's office
"It's been a while since the last time I talked to you,my dear~. You missed me right, MC ?": Albert smiling all too cheerfully to the woman sitting before him.
"Ugh why would I miss a jerk who suddenly teleported me into his office without asking me. That would be considerably rude, Albert!" The woman or MC said sarcastically. "0h I apologised my dear~": Albert being the gentleman he is, apologized. Also Albert noticed something different about MC. If Albert remember correctly, MC's hair is usually long and tied in low ponytail with a ribbon or something. But this time, her hair is short and untied. Albert can help but blush a little "what?". Albert don't know why did he just do that.
"Um dear, why is your hair short now?"Albert asked curiously a little confused. Cause he knows MC like long hair,it would be strange if she cut her hair
"Oh my hair? Well I didn't cut it rather it was an accident that resulted in my hair got cut": MC said with a little bit of annoyance when she emphasized the word "accident".
It's the work of a certain lawyer in G4
"Oh did you get hurt?" Albert asked a little worried. Well she's his friend anyway. "No it wasn't that bad. I'm okay so don't worry": MC said, Albert didn't seem to caught on the hidden meaning behind her words.
To be honest, Albert find this woman rather special. She should've been dead by now. At first, this woman was just another patient of Albert. She met him first time in one of his dream therapy session. She was cold, rude and sarcastic to Albert when they first met. Albert greatly disliked her. He thought she was just another ordinary person. One that he shouldn't have pay attention to.Yet now she's the one he pay attention to mostly. Because when Albert killed her,she didn't died
"Oh my even I can't killed myself, what makes you think you can?"
Even though she was torn apart. She still managed to turn back to normal as if nothing has happened
"So why did you teleported me here? If I remember correctly,a dream therapy session is for when your patient is sleeping. Plus it's still daytime right now" MC said sternly, her face uninterested
"Oh you're quite demanding, aren't you~ Marie Antoinette?" Albert said teasingly knowing how much she hate being called by that name
"My name is Marinetta Carolina Carolois not Marie Antoinette!!!!!!! I'm not that "Let them eat cake" french queen!!!!!"MC said angrily. She hate being called by that name
.
.
.
"Your name is beautiful!!!! It really sound like Marie Antoinette~Maybe sometimes I'll call you that~"
"I find that awfully offending"
.
.
.
.
.
.
"Anyway I invited you here. So we can have a nice little chat~" Albert said smiling, seemingly doesn't care about her angry remark just now
"Why don't you just text me? Email me? Or use other social media like Snapchat, Facebook, Discord,Instagram? Hell why didn't just call me to come over or having a video chat?"
"Having a face-to-face meeting is better, healthier than using social media,my dear. I even teleported you here so you won't have to go out in the pouring rain. Aren't I kind~" Albert said proudly
"Ugh this egoistical bastard. He's talking as if he has never done anything wrong. His arrogance is making me sick!!!! I'm pretty sure a lot have been fooled by his gentleman and elegant facade"
MC loathes Albert. He's annoying, sadistic, arrogant, psychopathic and venomous. Abruptly teleporting her to his office without permission is just plain rude. Honestly she just wants to stab him with her pocket knife right now. His fake persona is easily see through to her when they first met. He looks all smile, polite and all, but internally he was actually underestimating her. Probably he thought he's superior to those beneath him
Huh how strange? Even though she's thinking such terrible things, she still has a calm, innocent and collected look on her face
But a part in the young woman enjoy spending time with this "psychotic therapist"
"Thank to you this new outfit I got won't get soaked because of the heavy rain so I'm grateful" She said with a sigh. With that bring a smile to the therapist's face.
"If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the that rose accessory? It's looks beautiful on you~"
"Oh this?" MC said as she touched the rose resting on her head. "This is a gift from my ex-boyfriend. He simply just wanted to get me back":MC said with a little disdain
"Ah yes his name was Jeff right?" Albert is a little annoyed when MC mentioned that guy
Albert is now deep in his train of thoughts
" Jeffrence Almindle, a renowned surgeon in G3 District. He appeared a lot on the medical magazines and a few interviews on TV. Not to mention his upbringing is very prestigious as well, being born in the family that runs multiple high class restaurants in every districts. He's truly a star in the medical field and a perfect man. But to Albert, he's a horrible man "
Albert met Jeff once, that's to be expected considering Albert is the CEO of one of the biggest corporation in the medical field. Well Albert thought they might have get along but their line of work are pretty contradicting, one's specialty is mentality and the other is physics and Jeff was quite condescending toward Albert being therapist. Saying that he's too awful, unbefitting and unstable to be a therapist so their relationship isn't on good terms
Albert thought Jeff was a foolish man for ruining the relationship with an amazing woman like MC
Knowing that Jeff was an ex-lover of MC and her first lover makes Albert feels a little jealous
..........
Wait
Why would he feel jealous?
..........
As far as Albert knows. He really has no reason to be jealous of Jeff. He's far more better than Jeff in every aspects so why ? Is is because Jeff was in a relationship with MC?
Hmm MC is a really mysterious woman to say the least. Albert can't really tell what kind of person is she. But she's very much interesting and remind him of Vincent a lot
" Maybe I has fallen in love with her? "
The thought suprised the therapist. To be honest, Albert is fond of this woman and he wants to know about her more. He may have developed a small crush on her. But love is something that has never cross his mind ever since he became the CEO, after all he has important work to do. But then again Albert is still a human and he needs to enjoy life right? Still does someone like Albert even deserve love? He's adored by many but that's not love but only attraction
With what Albert did and the kind of twisted person he is, is Love really something for him though?
MC is getting little weirded out with how Albert went quiet and appeared to be deep in thought
"Hey MC,do you have any love experience?" Albert suddenly spoke up and it was a little surprising to the young woman
Well MC doesn't really have any love experience. Yes she had been in multiple relationships in the past but there never really love in those relationships of hers. She only had them to fulfil her need and doing it for fun but in the end, it couldn't warm up her cold heart. Her first relationship was pretty messed up considering Jeff, her first lover, tried to eat her on their anniversary
Plus with her work, love is never really on her mind to begin with.
"Sorry Albert, I'm not one to ask about such a thing. Yes, I indeed had been in relationships before but those were pretty much because of my own attraction to my past lovers and my need to be honest": MC said nonchalantly
"Ah I see then. Sorry to bother you with a hard question anyway" Albert smiled apologetically
"Anyway do you want to do anything else or have anything to tell me? If not we can end our chat here and I'll see you next time"
A thought crossed MC's mind
"It has been a while since the last time I went on a date, plus this could help with the mission to eliminate this man. Getting his trust would be beneficial for me to get rid of him so why not ?"
"Hey Albert, you free tomorrow? Do you want to go on a date with me?" MC asked, smiling
"Wait what?" Albert is literally dumbfounded and shocked right now, did MC just asked him to go on a date? Really he never would have thought this could happen and this is really happening for real???
MC is immediately wrapped in a hug by Albert. "Yes yes!!! It's a wonderful idea my dear!!!! I've never been on a date before but I'm sure it's a really fun experience!!!!" Albert said all so enthusiastically
"Please it's just a date don't overreacted like that"
"It's my first and I wanted to make it special!!!!"
MC wrapped a hand around Albert's neck so it looks like she's hugging him

answers aa themed questions nobody asked because i’m cool and sexy
also i havent played the 5th or 6th games so
YOUR FAVOURITE…? 1. Favourite Ace Attorney game? honestly? phoenix wright ace attorney! everything’s fresh, there aren’t many weak characters, and the plot is remarkable (especially the fifth case). the whole trilogy is really good as one unit though 2. Favourite case? 1-4, 1-5, 2-4, and 3-5 are tied lol, i can’t make a decision to save my life. 2-1 is really really funny tho 3. Favourite defendant? as a defendant, lana skye. as a person, edgeworth 4. Favourite prosecutor? as a prosecutor, franziska von karma. as a person, edgeworth 5. Favourite ship? wrightworth obviously... ive probably put more thought into them over the last 3 years than any other ship 6. Favourite victim? probably mia fey or gregory edgeworth... but for non-relevant victims, neil marshall :( 7. Favourite murderer? shelly de killer, i LOVE that guy. but dee vasquez was very cool as well 8. Favourite assistant? maya fey!!!!!!!!!! but i like kay faraday a lot too (im so sorry ema) 9. Favourite witness? adrian andrews... or maybe iris? i mean i didn’t like iris but god what a person 10. Favourite quote? “It doesn't matter how many underhanded tricks a person uses... The truth will always find a way to make itself known. The only thing we can do is to fight with the knowledge we hold and everything we have. Erasing the paradoxes one by one... It's never easy... We claw and scratch for every inch. But we will always eventually reach that one single truth. This I promise you.” - Miles Edgeworth i made this one of my senior quotes :]
YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE…? 11. Least favourite Ace Attorney game? uh fucking apollo justice. literally what the hell was that 12. Least favourite case? turnabout visitor wasn’t very strong? i guess it’s fine as an intro, but it’s also wonky with the timeline of aai 13. Least favourite defendant? max galactica. he’s better in the anime though 14. Least favourite prosecutor? manfred von karma, obviously. i like every other prosecutor (who i know of) though, even winston payne is pretty funny in hindsight 15. Least favourite ship? “miles edgeworth/female oc”. there are a lot of bad ships though, mostly involving phoenix & his assistants. dont do that please 16. Least favourite victim? zak gramarye for kickstarting that shitty, shitty game 17. Least favourite murderer? again mvk... but also fucking frank sahwit LMAO 18. Least favourite assistant? i guess trucy 19. Least favourite witness? fuck everyone from turnabout big top unless it was the anime episode 20. Least favourite memory of Ace Attorney? repeatedly trying and failing to download the emulator for aai2 hbjsjhdb i eventually got it but someone had to send me the download fully pre-patched and i felt kinda useless DO YOU PREFER…? 21. Phoenix Wright or Apollo Justice? phoenix wright. fuck that “GOTCHA!” mechanic jesus christ 22. Maya Fey or Trucy Wright? maya fey. nothing personal against trucy but i just dont like aj hbjsdjhsdb also maya is really sweet and fun and she has the best sprites. she seems like she’d be a good friend, it’s too bad that she doesn’t have the time for them as a spirit medium and all :( if maya ema and kay got to hang out together itd be wild 23. Investigations or trials? trials are easier in my opinion because investigations have several things you could be doing without such a linear style, so if you miss something, you won’t really know until you wander around forever 24. College Phoenix or Hobo Phoenix? college feenie!!!!! he’s like trilogy feenie but more emotional and less witty. i like to pretend that hobo phoenix doesnt exist 25. Klavier Gavin or Kristoph Gavin? who would say kristoph 26. Ace Attorney or Ace Attorney Investigations? ace attorney but only because phoenix is in it lmao. im actually rewatching a playthrough of aai now, and playing aai2 at the same time, so while it is on the mind, i feel like the cases characters and mechanics - while loved - don’t hold up to the OGs 27. Apollo’s perceive, Phoenix’s magatama, or Athena’s Mood Matrix? i actually kinda like the mood matrix more than anything because it has a really good UI and the magatama is kinda grating. but FUCK the gotcha mechanic it is SO FUCKING STUPID and IMPOSSIBLE TO USE.  where is logic chess 28. Ace Attorney trilogy or Apollo Justice and Dual Destinies? you already know my answer to this one 29. 3D models or sprites? i do like the 3d models a lot but i like the original sprites more! imo original pixel sprites > 3D models > HD sprites. mostly bc the hd sprites are garbage (see here, here, and here) 30. Ema Skye as she is in Rise from the Ashes or Ema Skye as she is in Apollo Justice? rfta !!!!!! shes actually really nice as an assistant, esp considering the fact that we actually see her interact with her sister, which is something maya didn’t have very often. also her random appearance in aai was well appreciated by me
MISCELLANEOUS 31. Did you like what they did to Phoenix in Apollo Justice?
NO I AM SO FUCKING MAD WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT TO HIM ISN’T HE A LAWYER WHY COULD HE NOT JUST DEFEND HIMSELF FROM THE FACT THAT HE “FORGED EVIDENCE” IT WASN’T EVEN HIS IN THE FIRST PLACE SOMEBODY ELSE FORGED IT AND HE DIDN’T KNOW THAT, MANFRED VON KARMA GOT AWAY WITH A FUCKLOAD OF NONSENSE AND SO DOES EVERY OTHER LAWYER SO WHY IS IT THAT PHOENIX CAN SURVIVE EATING A POISONED GLASS NECKLACE AND GETTING HIT OVER THE HEAD WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND FALLING FROM A BURNING BRIDGE INTO A RUSHING RAVINE AND BEING HIT BY A CAR BUT HE CAN’T FUCKING DEFEND HIMSELF LIKE HE DOES IN EVERY OTHER CASE BECAUSE THAT’S THE POINT OF THE GAME AND ALSO HIS ENTIRE CHARACTER
32. Your opinion on Dai Gyakuten Saiban? haven’t played it! it looks pretty cool though
33. Do you think Dai Gyakuten Saiban and/or Miles Edgeworth Investigations 2 will get localised to the West? doubt it, since the creators have said that it won’t be. but the fan translations are pretty good, so i think it’s okay
34. Do you think Miles Edgeworth should get another Investigation-game or do you think another character deserves a spin-off? i mean he already has two, so i guess he doesn’t need another? like i love edgeworth but he’s not as fun without phoenix around. ngl i would play a franziska game. or a maya game, or any spinoff revolving around a side character. hell i’d play hotti game if it meant it took place in the trilogy era
35. Opinion on the soundtrack of the Ace Attorney-franchise? REALLY good. really really good. i love how each game of the trilogy has different composers but each track has the same theme and feel!!!
36. Do you like where the franchise is heading or did you prefer the atmosphere in the original trilogy? seriously absolutely completely prefer the trilogy. i’m sorry but the rush of youth and trust is way, way more enjoyable than whatever “i’m 35 and therefore middle aged” nonsense is happening in the 2020s
37. Capcom suddenly announces that Phoenix will no longer appear in the Ace Attorney franchise! Your reaction? He’s been replaced by Penny Nichols. Fuck you.
38. Capcom suddenly announces that the Ace Attorney franchise has ended for good! Your reaction? it was me i ended it
39. Would you like there to be another Ace Attorney/Professor Layton crossover game? i didnt play it but i really like the idea!!!!!! aa crossover games are really funny to me, i mean have you seen edgeworth in project x zone 2, lmao
40. Would you like an Ace Attorney anime? we have one now! honestly i don’t think it did a very good job of representing the cases, but it did do a good character remix of turnabout big top so that they’re not creepy anymore. they also did a really good job with the anime-specific cases, like the one on the train! it feels a lot better paced when it’s intended for that medium rather than just adapted.  also the childhood episodes made me cry
41. Opinion on anime cutscenes in Ace Attorney? like in 5 and 6? mm, the art style is kinda weird, and i don’t really like the voices, but i guess not everything can be pachinko and prozd
42. Would you want to play an Ace Attorney game where you take on the prosecutor’s role? YEAH ACTUALLY!!!!!! it might be kinda weird being on the right side of the screen though lmao
43. Do you like having DLC in Ace Attorney-games? uhhh i hate having to buy extra things, but i’ll admit that they are pretty funny
44. Opinion on Lamiroir’s storyline? i only played aj so if shes in other games idk but i thought she was fine
45. One thing you think the Ace Attorney games can improve on? stop having creepy characters please. also jesus christ if phoenix and edgeworth arent wearing rings in aa7 i will become the ceo of capcom myself
46. Capcom suddenly announces an Ace Attorney movie! Would you like it to be based on an already existing case or would you like an all new storyline? i mean the musical did a pretty good job of adapting existing cases, so it might as well be new. it would be kinda hard to balance the games’ timeline & character development without being repetitive or an au
47. Capcom suddenly announces an Ace Attorney movie! Would you prefer it being live-action, 3D animated or 2D animated? stylized 2D animation, probably? i would want it to feel more like into the spiderverse than an anime, though. in my dream ace attorney movie, they’d just need a high art budget, several plausible deniability wrightworth scenes, and prozd to voice edgeworth
48. If there could be an Ace Attorney crossover with whatever franchise you’d like, which one would you choose? (Does not need to be a video-game franchise) your turn to die is probably closest in characterization, although its premise is more “locked in a room” than the open-world investigation of aa
49. Opinion on recurring witnesses? (Wendy Oldbag, Lotta Hart, Larry Butz, etc.) honestly, i like them a lot! i don’t know why people hate them so much - i mean, i know lotta lied, and wendy is a horrible old flirt, and larry just kinda sucks all around. but they’re also pretty funny to have around! larry is a constant comic relief who reminds you how much better nick & edgey are in comparison, lotta is likeable as a general character (like in 2-4, although yeah, not remarkable), and wendy oldbag is really funny. she’s so fucking funny. none of you appreciate wendy oldbag’s quirks and you are SLEEPING ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
50. Do you think Dual Destinies deserved its M-rating? no idea, holy shit, it got an m-rating? i mean every game before it has had blood violence and very mild swearing, and since DD probably doesnt have anything too sexually risqué, i doubt it deserves a rating any harsher than the rest of the series
okay thanks thats all

Credit where credit is due, Gabriel did a nice job directing this episode. He had more screen time that I’m used to from actors pulling double duty, and he seems to have handled the extra workload well.
That’s not to say the episode was flawless. Yeah, by Season 9 standards, it was pretty good overall, but I mean. Season 9 standards.
We start off at home with Louis and Sheila having a terse exchange over tea as I wonder, yet again, why they’re together at all if they’re always so goddamn pissy about everything. Louis bemoans his demotion as Sheila irritably directs him to drink his rooibos and asks him what the big deal is, being that he didn’t even want the job in the first place (true). Louis parries that he only said that because Donna offered it to him the same night he found out about Sheila’s pregnancy (true), but at any other time in his life, he would have taken it (false). On the contrary, you may remember this fairly unambiguous exchange from “Pecking Order” (s08e02) between Doctor Lipschitz and Louis: “As I recall, you accepted Harvey becoming managing partner after Jessica left.” “That’s when I realized I didn’t want to be managing partner.” I suppose I’ve never accused this show of internal consistency before, why bother starting now?
Louis then delightfully compares himself to a ball-less cat and laments that though “the job wasn’t sunshine and rainbows, [he] was getting really good at it,” and excuse me but what? Forget that disastrous hearing that summoned Faye to their doorstep, his most recent acts as managing partner include trying to bully Professor Gerard into letting him be the keynote speaker at Harvard’s Ethic Conference to talk up his failing firm, and going completely off the rails trying to fire the poor IT guy for failing to digitally break into the New York State Bar Association. Louis sucked at being managing partner.
Next up is a reminder that I need to be careful what I wish for as Donna and Harvey discuss his reflexive support of her impassioned but quite incorrect argument against Louis trying to fire Benjamin, and how much she didn’t appreciate it. Turns out it wasn’t so reflexive; he did it because she thought she would like it, which is its own magnificently flawed concept—thinking she’ll get mad at him for disagreeing with her doesn’t say much for his respect for her integrity—but then Donna realizes that he’s afraid she’s going to leave him if he doesn’t unconditionally support her, and you just know the writers thought they were being real clever with this. (Wait, isn’t one of Harvey’s defining character traits his ability to read people? “You read books, I read people” was actually one of the first things he said to Mike in the pilot… Gosh it’s been a long time.)
As I was saying about this show’s internal consistency, two things about this whole exchange: One, all through Season 7, Harvey had no trouble calling Paula out when she was being ridiculous and disagreeing with her about all kinds of shit. Two, as recently as “Everything Changes” (s09e01), Harvey cooed that “[he’s] finally where [he’s] supposed to be” when he’s with Donna, to which Donna replied “We both are,” and like, are they a match made in Heaven right out of the box or what? His trust in their relationship is wildly inconsistent. Unless he wants to forfeit his autonomy for some reason? I don’t know, it’s weird and I don’t like it.
I also take issue with Donna’s dismissive “Oh, my god. Of course. Harvey, I’m not gonna leave you.” This has been an issue for him since forever, as she well knows, but rather than ask him what’s wrong—is he really afraid she’ll leave him over something so small?—or point out that he needs to go to therapy (if she wants to be tactful, she could ask if he wants to “talk to someone” about this), she treats it as an endearing character quirk, and someone needs to save Harvey from all this shit yesterday.
The interruption to this…reconciliation isn’t quite as cringy as the can opener bit from the last episode, but I’ve gotta call it out for being just some truly lazy storytelling. Gretchen appears out of nowhere to tell them they “need to go see Louis,” on account of his demotion, and Donna’s deer-in-headlights response is “Oh, my god. We need to go to him right now.” Yeah, no shit, that’s what Gretchen just said, except this framing affords Harvey the opportunity to mount his noble high horse and declare: “No. You go to him. I need to go see Faye.” Which he does, dramatic music and all, declaring that “dammit, not everybody has to do everything by [her] book,” and I must point out that she demoted Louis for trying to fire the employee who he asked to perform an illegal activity that he failed to perform only because he was caught; in what book is that okay? He then asserts: “You want consequences, I’ll give you consequences,” which is delightfully reminiscent of that old classic, “I’ll give you something to cry about,” in that it makes absolutely no sense, and Harvey, you adorable impetuous dumbass, if your goal is to convince her to leave, I think you might be going about it in a little bit the wrong way.
Roll title crawl! (No seriously, that was all just the cold open.)
Anyway Donna does go to comfort Louis, already treating herself and Harvey as a unit when she assures him that “if [he] ever [needs her] or Harvey during any of this Faye bullshit,” they’re there for him, and dropping the much more interesting detail that she has a much older sister she doesn’t want to talk about who “turned every man she was ever with into an emotional doormat,” which I don’t have time to fic right now but I feel like might explain a lot. Then Alex and Samantha have an endearing little exchange wherein Samantha proposes doing something to help Louis and Alex clarifies that it has to be ethical, and it’s nice to know that at least a couple of people around here aren’t completely insane.
Speaking of things being insane, I won’t fault Gabriel for this because the direction itself is fine, but from a writing perspective, the narrative construct of this next scene is terrible. Harvey shows up at a meeting with Some Guy whose nondescript company is apparently, thanks to his board and the company’s lawyers, being taken over (by someone) against his wishes, and the only hint of context for any of this is that “the people” orchestrating this takeover are “related” to Faye. The obvious conclusion to this exchange is that Harvey is going to help this guy, who is apparently the CEO of this random organization, sue the company by acting as a shareholder rather than a C-level employee, and I still have no idea what the fuck is going on.
Back at the firm where I do kind of know what’s going on, Susan the Associate approaches Katrina with a problem she found in the VersaLife case Katrina’s working, and as soon as they gave her a name in the last episode, I know she was going to be important. More to the point, it looks like Katrina’s got herself an associate! (Remember when senior partners were required to hire their own associates? It was a whole big thing back in Season 1, I think.)
Next up, Louis is having lunch with an old friend, Saul the Judge, who informs him that some other judge is retiring or being fired or something, and offers him a judgeship, and there is so much wrong with this scene that I don’t even know where to begin.
Yes I do. Since when has Louis’s lifelong dream been to be a judge? This is literally the first time he’s ever expressed any interest in it, at all. And another thing, that is not how judicial selection works.
In New York State, judges, depending on the court, are either appointed by the governor and confirmed by the State Senate, nominated by a commission and approved by the governor, chosen at a partisan nominating convention and elected by the voting public, or appointed by the mayor. Qualified individuals can apply to be considered, such as by the Mayor’s Advisory Committee, but there’s no one-and-done offer/acceptance transaction between someone currently on the bench and his lawyer pal, so either this guy is offering Louis a job that doesn’t exist or, more likely, the writers don’t know shit about the New York City legal system.
Moving on. Harvey shoves a recusal form in Faye’s face as he informs her that he “got” a case against her old firm, and he’s “taking it,” as though he didn’t go way out of his way to hunt it down in the first place. He then throws a stupidly juvenile hissy fit, claiming he’ll use whatever he fucking has to to “win,” and prove his system his better than hers, but he won’t have to cross any lines because she de-balled (second reference, just as charming as the first) the guys at her old firm so much that “they’re shaking in their boots” at the mere threat of lawsuit. This whole exchange is basically a showcase of Harvey acting like a spoiled child, and I know he’s a passionate guy but I gotta say, I’m getting tired of this whole act.
Back to that clusterfucking disaster of a judgeship offer, Louis fesses up to Sheila but admits that he doesn’t want to accept the drop in salary with a kid on the way, or leave his friends in the lurch, and she in turn fesses up that she asked Saul to make the offer in the first place because “being a judge has always been [his] dream.” (SINCE WHEN?) Louis is incensed until she tells him that it was basically Saul’s idea, but that if he doesn’t take it now, he’ll never get the change again, which… Why? Well, I guess they haven’t pointlessly manufactured any tension in awhile. Anyway, Louis promises to sleep on it.
Elsewhere, Samantha proposes committing conspiracy to get Faye out of their lives and Alex shuts that shit right away, and I’m actually really enjoying their dynamic right now. Susan asks Katrina what she should do about a smart, funny paralegal she clicks with; Katrina, having “seen that before,” recommends finding a new paralegal, and I’ve never had this question before but is Katrina anti-Machel for some reason? Doesn’t matter. Susan proposes reaching out to opposing counsel, who just so happens to be an old family friend, and Katrina wisely tells her not to, but somewhat less wisely starts and ends her rationale with “Because I know,” which I’m sure won’t motivate Susan to act in any sort of way.
Now, I’m no dream theorist, but luckily this show has all the subtlety of a Liberace action figure, so it’s not too difficult to figure out what Louis’s subconscious mind is trying to say: He wants to humiliate Faye (for demoting him and taking over his firm), he wants to bang Donna (and maybe also Alex), he thinks of Harvey as his peer but also his inferior (who he wants desperately to impress and probably also to fuck), and his confidence is mainly derived from the approval and admiration of others. Also he wants to have sex with basically everyone. Maybe not Gretchen. But everyone else.
Dr. Lipschitz, to whom Louis was evidently relaying the events of this dream, finds the whole thing quite amusing, but points out that if Louis takes the judgeship, he won’t have his friends around him anymore. Double-edged sword and all that.

So, I read through this post and it made some really good points! You should definitely go read it before reading any further so this makes sense.
People really will tell you that you can be whatever you want but then try to talk you out of (and even try to talk you into something else) whatever it is you said you want to do. I've noticed it in my own family (which isn't surprising) a lot.
Many people in my family would tell me that I should be a lawyer bc of the amount of arguing I've always done (and still do), partly bc I'm good at it and pretty good at trying to win you over but also, they were trying to be insulting. They didn't like me arguing (now, most times its bc I'm right). Don't get me wrong, I would be okay at it but there's so much more to being a lawyer than arguments and there's so much you have to learn! This was just the beginning of ’you can be whatever you want to be BUT mostly what I think you should be’ arguments.
Now, my mom is probably the only person in my family (well, was) that was fully supportive of what you actually wanted to do and didn't try to convince you to do something else. My mom was so supportive, she said she’d support me if I were a porn star (true unconditional love there, y'all)!
I've wanted to be a million things as a grew up and now I'm settled on my dream job (but I do have a plan B bc my dream job is pretty unrealistic). It's been fun to look back on everything I've wanted to be that's far more practical than acting, only to choose one of the least practical jobs to pursue! I've wanted to be a surgeon, a forensic scientist, an ob-gyn, a performer, a fashion designer, a human rights lawyer, a cosmetologist and so on.
When I wanted to be a forensic scientist, I can remember talking about me having a family when I'm older (though I was like 11 so we shouldn't be talking about that anyway) and my great grandmother told me I would have to stop working once I have children. I do remember saying there was no way I would work so hard for my degrees in science just to stop working all bc I had a baby. Nope! She's also the one woman in our family telling me, my sister and my female cousin we will all change our minds and want to have children. Of course, her brothers (my male cousins) don't hear any of this ’you will get married and have children’ talk.
My grandmother (mom's side) wants us to be doctors bc ’they make a lot of money’. I'm always sure to remind her that while money is important now, it won't be my main reason for choosing a job. Especially one you have to spend so much time preparing for! But, she often says ”doctors are stupid. They just read a few books and make money off making prescriptions”... Yeah, sure. Whatever you say.
My aunt doesn't support her daughter's dream of becoming a rapper. She said she won't support her unless she's going to be a Christian rapper. She and her husband want their daughter to be a doctor, lawyer or a nurse. She's also been told by her dad that ’her husband will rule her household’. Fun stuff.
I've told my cousin that even though I'm not fond of the nature of most rap music, I support her and will be there for her. That's what you do when you love someone, after all.
My dad thinks it's unrealistic to pursue acting when I could do something else I would enjoy that he considers more practical. Even though I have explained that acting is something you must focus on completely, as much as anything you really want to do for your whole life. He doesn't understand how I could possibly want to try while the odds are against me. I've explained that it's better to try than to not try at all.
The rest of my family thinks I can somehow become a successful actress in my small, poor state of Alabama. Do you think ”hey, that's where all those actors come from!” when you hear Alabama? No, you think of California or NYC and even places like Georgia and Florida. But mostly California and NYC.
I have to move to make myself known. That's okay with me but they don't seem to like it. Do I care? No, I'm moving as soon as I can afford to leave.
While this may look like a rant about my personal life, it still has much to do with the ’you aren't doing what I think you should be doing to be happy and successful’ mindset so many people have.
I'm a feminist. I believe in choice more than anything.
You want to be a CEO? Be a CEO! I'm sure you'll be great as long as you're passionate about it and give it your all. Wanna be a homemaker? Be a homemaker! I'm sure you'll be great!
Wanna be a musician? I'm with you all the way! Wanna be a veterinarian? I don't know how you can do it but I'm supportive! You do you!
Seriously, just live your life your way (as long as you aren't hurting anyone). Don't live according to how your parents want you to live. You will most likely outlive them and be so unhappy bc you did what THEY wanted and not what you wanted. Of course, if you have to live their way until you can get away, I understand. I have to do that too.
It sucks but I should be able to get away soon and I hope you can too! My aunt and uncle tell my cousin they won't pay for any lessons she wants to take (that relate to skills she needs for her rap career) bc they don't agree with it. They say they will pay for her to go to med school or law school.
My mom and dad didn't save up tuition money for me and my sister so we will have to take on student loans or hopefully get grants but that's looking less and less likely. My dad can't control me and my sister that way (and even though he is pretty controlling, he probably wouldn't go that far) so we got lucky there. My cousin obviously isn't that lucky.
So, I get having to live a certain way before you're able to leave. Just try your best to live your way in whatever way you can!
This turned into a much longer post than I meant for it to (what's new?) so sorry for that. I dunno, it is my blog but I had feel bad for some reason. Blogging is usually used to just put your unfiltered thoughts into the world so I guess I don't really have anything to be sorry for. Female habit (sorry reflex) I learned from my mom.
Anyways, that post made good points about the ’be what you want to be’ talk and these were my thoughts, experiences, and opinions related to the matter. Hope it wasn't a bother!

The First Call
By Wayne Lerner
THE QUIET ENVELOPED HIS MIND AND CALMED HIS BODY. Early morning time in the office was his favorite. No appointments on his calendar. No interruptions from unwanted visitors, no commotion in the hallways, no complaints from the medical staff, at least not yet. Just the opportunity to think and enjoy his first cup of coffee.
David cradled the steaming coffee like it was his only source of heat on a cold and snowy day. The bitter french roast, infused with high levels of caffeine, awakened his groggy mind. His favorite mug, a gift from his daughter, held his magic potion. Without the coffee, he found it impossible to jumpstart the day.
The motto on the mug reminded him how to approach the challenges which confronted him each day. Everything will be fucking okay, it said.
No way. This job’s killing me. How will everything be okay? I’m supposed to be in charge. Bullshit! Most days, I feel like a puppet whose strings are being pulled by everyone here.
He slammed his palm against his desk. The stinging pain brought him back to reality.
Oh, stop feeling sorry for yourself. Be a big boy.
This is what you asked for, so deal with it.
David looked at his calendar and cringed, then smiled. 6:30 dinner meeting with the employee advisory committee to discuss how to make the organization more patient friendly. That would be the only event he would enjoy that day.
Of course, there are assholes but there are good people too. They’re the ones who need your guidance and leadership. If you’re so fed up with the situation, then leave. Walk away. Find another place that suits you better
He opened his desk drawer and looked at his pay stub.
Can’t, huh? The golden handcuffs got you, don’t they?
And the rep of the place gives you creds others would just dream of.
With the good comes bad shit. It’s right there in the job description. Remember that. Have balls, would you?
The ringing of the phone reverberated throughout the office. You can tell who’s calling by the ring, whether it’s a good call or one which foretells disaster. The phone knows. Its voice sends you a message, You have to be smart enough, open enough, to understand its language.
When his Mother died, the ring was soft and sorrowful. When his wife called to tell him the results of her pregnancy test, after so many tries, the ring was loud and exuberant. When the ring hesitates and then continues, like a heart which skips a beat, it’s someone you don’t know, a wrong number or a salesman.
Today, the ring was jarring. The sound bounced off the walls of his office. It was an ominous ring. He knew there was bad news coming. Not just bad news, catastrophic news. The phone’s voice entered his body, pounding his head and hurting his ears.
His eyes locked on the caller ID and recognized the name. Linda was the chief legal officer, a holdover from the previous administration. Linda made it known to everyone that she didn't like him. Her pipeline to the Board Chair was a well-known fact. His quietude was over. And maybe, with it, this time, his career.
“Good morning, Linda,” he said in the cheeriest voice he could manufacture. “What can I do for you this glorious morning?”
This isn’t a social call. She never calls unless there is something wrong. And, with Linda, there's always something wrong.
“You got a call from the Feds! This morning? What did they want?”
He could see her face as he spoke. She was a dour woman who loved to zing him any time she could. If she was ever happy, he never saw it. Since she only saw the darkside of life, he knew this call meant something horrible was about to happen.
“They said they received an EEO claim against one of our senior officers? Which one?” “No, it can’t be true. We’re already investigating him for how he spent the funds in his budget.”
We’re just about ready to hammer that bastard with the evidence Linda and the forensic accounting firm compiled.
“Copies of the claim have been sent to the Board Chair as well! OMG! I don’t have enough trouble with him. Now this shit is happening!”
“I’m sorry. I'm not shouting at you. It is not your doing.”
“What do you mean it's mine? Gary was a holdover from the prior administration.” Just like you, you witch!
“And the Board likes him or at least they did.”
“What? There’s more?’
“The claim’s for sexual harassment? And the victim’s a person of color!”
Jesus Christ! It’s not even 8:30 yet. The shit keeps piling up.
“What do you mean, man up. You don’t need to tell me that there are no good days for a CEO, just acceptable ones.”
Linda reminds me almost everyday. If there's crap on the floor, it's mine, so pick it up.
His heart and breathing began to race as he felt himself losing control. He tried to slow everything down by practicing yoga breathing but nothing seemed to work.
The end of the line’s in sight. Now, my alleged supporters will rejoice!
David’s predecessor had been given a seat on the Board when he was cajoled into retirement. He wasn't thrilled with David and neither was the Board Chair. They wanted someone with a different background but David was the choice of the search committee.
“Linda, I have to go. The Chair is on the other line.”
“I’ll loop back with you when we’re done. Then, you and I can plot a strategy to deal with the EEO suit.”
“Yes, there will be fallout from the financial investigation. It’s not going to be easy but I’m sure we can find a way to minimize the damage.”
He heard Linda chuckle under her breath as she hung up
David’s shoulder and neck tensed as he picked up the phone. He knew this was going to be yet another miserable call.
“Good morning, Sam. How’s your merger negotiations going? The reports in the papers have been quite positive.”
“Yes, I know all about the call from the Feds and the letter we received on the investigation. I guess Linda must have called you, huh?”
That bitch! She has made it her life’s work to fuck me over.
“She and I will be meeting with our outside counsel in an hour. I’m confident we can settle the issues with little public fallout.”
“You heard about it this morning on the train?” David paused. “If I may ask, from whom?” “No way. I can’t believe there’s such a gigantic leak in the organization.”
“How do you think he heard about it?’
“His brother works for the government?”
So much for confidentiality.
“Yes, I’ll call you just as soon as Linda and I are done with our meeting.”
“Yes, I know this is embarrassing for you and the organization.”
“Yes, I know we are getting ready to go out with a big fund raising drive.” Christ! Being interrogated yet again.
“Yes, I know this will make the ask much harder.”
“We’ll have to control the message to remind them of all the good we do here.” “No, I’m not minimizing the impact bad PR can have. We’ll fix this, I assure you.” “Sam, Our biggest admitter’s on the other line, I’ll call you later. OK? Thanks.” “Hi, George. What’s going on in the Ortho world these days?”
“What do you mean you're leaving the hospital?”
You can’t leave, you asshole.
You're the chair of the department and just signed a new contract.
“We didn’t breach our agreement. We gave you everything you wanted and more! We’re building a separate building for you and have doubled the number of staff you can recruit.”
“We did not permanently reallocate your operating room time to general surgery.”
“There was no one on your room schedule at the time that a series of emergency cases hit the ER. We both know they take priority. That’s why we gave the surgeons permission to use the operating rooms, just this one time.”
“Yes, I know we should have called you first but this was an emergency. I thought you wouldn’t have an issue helping out a fellow surgeon and his patients.”
We can’t allow the ORs to lie fallow until you need them, you slime ball. You know that. You’re making a stand anyway. I wonder what you really want.
“This is what you mean when you say we breached your contract?”
“Sure, have your lawyer call me and I’ll connect him with Linda.”
“Don’t do anything rash, George. This misunderstanding is not one to take an action all of us will regret. It will be fixed.”
David slammed the phone down and tried to gain his composure. His administrative assistant came in at the sound of the noise.
“Jean, would you please cancel my next few meetings? I have a slew of problems to resolve and don’t know how long this will take.”
“Yes, get Linda on the phone. I need to start with her.”
“I’m sorry, what did you say?”
“Gail from Spencer Stuart called when I was on with George? Do you know what she wanted?”
Gail calls me when she needs a reference on someone or to jump the line to get in to see a doctor.
“Oh, she wanted to talk with me, said it was personal. I hope she’s ok. I’ll call her back before I deal with Linda.”
“Gail? It’s David. Yes, I’m doing fine. What can I do for you?”
“Can you repeat that?”
“Where’s the job opportunity? Can you tell me what I’ll be walking into?”
Neither you nor I knew the real lay of the land when you recruited me here. The Search Committee and the Board were not truthful with either of us, it turned out.
“Yes, you can’t manage an organization when your revered predecessor is looking over your shoulder and reporting every action you take to the Board Chair.”
I don’t want to jump from one fire to another. I need to make sure I understand the real culture of the organization, not the PR version.
“This place thrives on internecine warfare, Gail. You don’t know who is going to stab you first.” “Sure, I’ll meet with you. Tomorrow will be fine. Your office? 10am? I’ll be there.”
It's only 9:15 and I’m exhausted. Well, let’s get on with this circus and see if we can save it from itself.
“Jean, please get Linda on the phone and tie in our outside lawyers. Thanks.”
He reached for his mug but the coffee had gone cold. He rose to get himself a refill when the phone rang. Jean was on the other line so he reached to pick up the phone.
This time, the sound was quiet and smooth. Its voice entered his soul like Barber’s Adagio for Strings does every time he hears it. His heart rate slowed down and he began to take deep, cleansing breaths.
David picked up the phone.
“Yes, I’m the CEO. What can I do for you?”
The mug was right.

Long Post: An explanation about what anarchism is, why i’m an anarchist, and why it’s such a big part of my life all of a sudden
[[Since I don’t have much time before I need to get back to my homework, I am not going to edit this post super carefully to make sure I don’t sound like a dork or a narcissist. This post isn’t really meant for random followers, but people who know me irl. And I hope the people who know me irl don’t think i’m a narcissist and forgive me for being a dork. ]]
Beginning two years ago but not really taking root until a year-ish ago, anarchism became an idea in my mind with increasing pull and importance. As it has become a bigger inspiration and influence in my life/brain, I’ve brought it up in countless conversations and for the most part get blank stares, confusion, misconception, or the impression that the person i’m talking to wants to leave immediately because i’m scaring them or weirding them out or coming on too strong or w/e. I accepted, several months ago, that I can’t keep bringing it up if people aren’t interested. But recent weeks have made me realize that I should at least explain myself somewhere, once, in an impersonal setting, just to avoid constantly feeling like i’m weirding people out or confusing them.
A foundational value in my life, spanning all kinds of religious metamorphoses, is the concept/verse “to those who have been given much. much will be expected.” In left-speak, I’m a Person of Privilege. I have been given access to a lot of things and have not faced hurdles many others have faced. I do not believe it is fine for me to simply enjoy my life however is easiest or happiest for myself -- I believe I had a god-given responsibility, a sacred duty to the world -- to give back, not just tithe-percentages but wholeheartedly.
That core value has driven me, again, from a young age, to self-educate about how the world works, and to be keenly invested in caring about the welfare of others, especially those who are extra vulnerable, disadvantaged, exploited, and oppressed. As I’ve slowly learned bit by bit, my attention has changed -- instead of focusing, for example, on the problem of suicide itself, I now invest more energy in the systems which create and allow for suicides to occur in epidemic proportions. While searching for the roots of the problems and the places where impact can be greatest and change is needed most urgently, I’ve been compelled to learn more and more about government, legislation, and those in power. Politics. That word everyone hates and removes from their own lives, but is really encompassing everything we do/think/are, every day, all the time.
For a long time, the world of politics seemed like this enormous, hopeless, endless tangle of corruption and arbitrary interpretations of morality and justice and who has a right to what. It felt like there were good guys and bad guys on every side, that things were always convoluted, that no movement ever made sense for that long. None of it ever felt right, reliable, honest, trustworthy, or transparent.
And then, I learned about anarchism.
When most people that I know discuss politics, there are roughly two sides. Sometimes people are vaguely aware of a third of fourth, but still, it’s largely a dichotomy. But what makes a Republican a Republican? What is the Republican platform, philosophically and policy-wise? What is a democrat? if you were to sit down and try to write a paper on what democrat ideology is, or what republican ideology is, could you do it? Do you know where the economics come from? Where the sense of authority comes from? Where the morality comes from? I think most of us just have these really vague notions about them, like “Republicans like small government and democrats like big government,” or “Republicans are christians and democrats are atheist.” But even these vague notions are usually pretty wrong -- for example, Republicans LOVE a large government regarding social justice issues, and there are MANY Christian denominations that are more populated by Democrats than Republicans. So what are these parties and how did they get so much power in our nation that they’re the only two platforms that Really Matter? Why do we accept the power they hold? Why do so many of us register as one or the other, and then vote down the ticket pretty much all one or all the other? When we don’t even know what they are and can only pick or choose a couple issues here and there that we feel like we maybe have kind of gotten a grasp of, like gay rights or abortion or gun control.
So to explain anarchism and avoid that enormous mess about parties and what we think we accept even when we don’t understand it, let’s start at the beginning, and leave all preconceived notions behind.
Who do you trust to be an authority over the world? who do you trust to be an authority over your life? Why? The people in power are not a special breed of person -- they don’t obtain power because they are more intelligent, more discerning, stronger of character, or more stable. For the most part, they obtain power because a) they want it and b) they’ve decided to spend their lives figuring out how to get it. And so now we’ve found ourselves in a society with myriad arbitrary laws dictating whether or not we can buy raw milk, who is permitted to marry who, that we can’t smoke weed but we can drink all the alcohol we want, that it’s okay to prescribe opiates regardless of alternatives/risks, that mass incarceration happens, police brutality happens, occupying other people’s countries and homes happens, patriarchy happens, white supremacy happens, that healthcare and justice can be bought only by those with wealth, and that wealth dictates everything. Seriously, from the nutrients we eat to the ratio of time we spend caring for ourselves to the lawyers we can afford to the healthcare we can afford to the education we can obtain to the amount of safety we can purchase etc etc. The more you know, the more evidence you see that having people calling the shots about how your personal world/life should go either don’t have your best interest in mind at all or don’t have the information and position they need to be in in order to make good decisions for you. Any direction that you look in -- economically, socially, geographically, culturally, you name it -- the people in power have really screwed us all over, majorly. And those of us w/ a decent amount of privilege can get by okay, most of the time. But it’s a sharp ledge to fall off when your luck runs out, when you quit winning the life-lottery that put you in a position of relative safety. Everyone hits that patch at some point. They get sexually assaulted. they can’t pay a debt. they find themselves with a chronic illness or a disease. will the system have your back when it happens to you? Look around and see that it absolutely will not.
Okay, so, I’ve made a broad, quick case for why having a small subset of people in power over the rest of the world sucks. In anarchist lingo, we refer to that problem as being a problem of hierarchy. The idea of anarchism is to create a world without hierarchy. Again, PLEASE, keep leaving your preconceived notions at the door. Don’t bring up but what about X republican idea or X democrat idea and don’t bring up black masks and molotov cocktails, just hang back so we can keep working this out from scratch.
So what does anarchism suggest? It suggests that we should be able to directly make our own choices in our lives. It suggests that we, the people, know what’s best for ourselves and can solve our own problems and make our own decisions and call our own shots. In effect, that means, instead of having a CEO or board make decisions about what millions of employees do, employees make decisions for themselves. Instead of having a department of education deciding what curriculum is being taught to our kids/us, we get to choose what we want to learn. Instead of having a department of state deciding when to draft us and send us into combat, we decide how to protect ourselves and make ourselves safe. We get to decide where to live, who we want to live with, who we want to work with, what we want to belong to, and how we make our communities work. Anarchism hinges upon the idea that, despite the fact that hierarchies have hit our culture hard (intelligence/information/mental health/opportunity-wise,) people WANT GOOD THINGS and can make decisions for themselves. People are a social species. By nature, we love to work together. We have families, we have friends, we seek community and partnership. We succeed when we cooperate and not when someone else makes our decisions for us and we are forced to comply. By giving power back to people, to be self-determining, we will be able to make progress together. And that governments and economic hierarchies that pose as being for our benefit/motivation/safety are actually ultimately getting in the way, and need to be dismantled and replaced with more cooperative, collaborative, empowered systems in order for civilization to avoid its descent into a melted planet where a tiny group has everything and the rest of us/our ancestors either die or get effectively enslaved.
Honestly, the anarchist platform is kind of easier to understand than the Republican one or the Democrat one or the Libertarian one. It’s pretty simple. And we teach it to ourselves in all kinds of other situations. You know, all of that language about believing in ourselves and being empowered and being independent and knowing our worth and knowing what’s best for us and making or own decisions and respecting each other’s decisions and goals and dreams? We all talk about that all of the time! It’s just expected that if you’re a decent friend, you talk to your friends like that and you treat them like that. So anarchism really just takes what people sort of already understand on an internal/personal level and then expands that to encompass everything else, too. It’s not a big leap. Once you make it, it seems incredibly obvious.
And that’s why it’s become so important in my life. I mean, for one, it’s beautiful and optimistic. Two, it’s really not a change at ALL from how I already lived and thought, it’s just putting how I lived and thought into a larger context. Three, it has helped the world make so much more sense to me -- it’s like Occam’s razor. If you apply an anarchist perspective to almost any problem, it’s solved pretty easily and neatly. Respect autonomy. Mind your business. Help your neighbor. Work together. Don’t oppress anyone. Don’t push anyone around. Be independent. Build what you want and what you love.
So anyway. I’ll probably keep editing this post and improving it as time goes by because this is a rough draft on an important topic that will probably influence all kinds of things forever, unless I one day change my mind.

It All Started With Karaoke
This story will be told in first person. Readers name is Jolene.
-----
You know the cliché, “Your life starts when you take your first breath”? Well I call bullshit on that. My life may have begun that day, but I didn’t start anything.  As the years went on, the only thing I “started” was mouthing off, ditching school, drinking, and smoking.  I may have taken rebellion to a whole new level, who knows.
No, my life didn’t start when I took my first breath.  My life started when I was minding my own business on summer vacation, singing at a karaoke bar outside of New York City.  That’s where He happened.
My life started after I met Park Jimin.
And now, I hated him for it.
------------
You know, sometimes I like sitting blissfully ignorant of the things going on around me; the things that I’ve caused.
My mom was sitting at the table next to me, on the phone with the Dean of my school.
Apparently someone put over a thousand tadpoles in the court yard fountain.
Why they automatically blame me, I’ll never understand.  I’m a straight A college student for goodness sakes.
“They have you on tape, dumbass.” My dad says to me from his spot at the table.
I whipped my head around and look at him.
“Excuse me?” I ask him.
“You. They have you on tape dumping the tadpoles into the courtyard fountain.  Do you have any idea how long it’s going to take to get them out of there?” He asks me, exasperation evident in his tone.
“Do you have any idea how much I don’t care?” I ask him, raising one eyebrow at him.
“You know, when you were younger, this kind of stuff was amusing.  You’re 20 years old now, about to graduate from college.  Don’t you think it’s a little childish to keep pulling stunts like this?” He asked me.
Heat rushed up to my face.  I tried. I tried so hard to contain my anger, but alas, to no avail.
“Don’t you think it’s a little shitty that the ONLY time you two are in the same fucking room as me is when I’m in trouble? Don’t you think it’s a little ‘childish’ that I have to beg and plead with the two of you to acknowledge that I fucking exist?” I yelled at him, standing up abruptly.
“Knock it off, you’re not a child anymore.” My dad says to me.
“How would you know? You weren’t even there when I was a child!” I yelled at him.
The yelling had gotten mom’s attention by then.  She covered the mouth of the phone .
“Honey, we had jobs and responsibilities. You understand, you must. It got you all the things you have now.” She said.
I stood there, stunned.  After 20 years of life, my mother assumed I’d rather have money, cars, and expensive things, then my parents to acknowledge that I exist.
“Fuck you both.” I calmly told them, and then walked away.
--
I’d left my parent’s house two weeks ago.
I graduated from UCLA 10 days ago.
I’d turned 21 seven days ago.
I’d inherited money from my grandfather 5 days ago.
I’d bought a house 3 days ago.
I left it all behind today.
Well except some money.  I’d need that while in New York City.
--
I was currently on a plane from Los Angeles to New York City.  I always told myself that I’d go and travel when I had the chance.  Everything just fell into place, allowing me to do so.
My grandfather had passed away about five years ago.  He had left everyone in my family inheritances, myself included.  He put the stipulation in there that I was not allowed to receive the money until I turned 21 or graduated college, whichever came first.  Thanks to fast tracking of high school and college classes, the stipulations happened almost simultaneously.
I had a nice chuckle as I remembered when we had to go to the reading of the will.
My grandfather hoarded money, and played the stock market like a fiddle.  Along with that, being the CEO of some ostentatious Fortune 500 company allowed him to have more money than I could ever dream of spending.
At the reading, my grandfather left my parents, my aunt, and her husband ten million dollars each.  He donated 50 million to different charities and organizations.  When the reading of the will was coming to a close, my mom patted me kindly on the knee and stated that “its okay you didn’t inherit anything, we’ve still got your trust fund set up.”  Like she thought I cared about the money.  My grandfather was the closest thing to a parent I’d ever had, and he lived halfway around the world.  That’s really saying something.
The lawyer’s voice droned on for twenty more minutes before he looked around the room.
“And for my beautiful granddaughter, I leave 75 million dollars.  This money cannot be inherited until the age of 21, or the completion of a bachelor’s degree, whichever shall come first.” The lawyer’s eyes softened as he continued, whereas my eyes were popping out of my skull.
“Jolene, you’ve always been a hellfire.  I don’t expect any less when you truly grow up and find your place in this world.  Use this money. Don’t be like me and let it sit for 50 years and then be forced to leave it to your stubborn, obnoxious children.  Go sight-seeing, backpack through Europe, swim with the dolphins, sing drunk karaoke in New York City. Just, do something.”
The pilot coming on the intercom saying to buckle up pulled me from my thoughts.
I had a serene smile on my face as I buckled up.
I was listening to my grandfather.
I was going sightseeing, getting trashed, and singing karaoke in New York City.

The passion project
“You know, I still remember the moment the idea hit me” Will Wheatley stood on a podium, above a pool with the Silicon valley skyline behind him and all the people he respected and trusted in front of him. Will had e-vited everyone he knew, used the latest apps for spamming people who casually called themselves his friends and all the other people he had been boring the shit out of for the last six months as he had pursued his passion project “and you don’t need to laugh, because I’d been using the Ynspire app” there was a faux groan from a man in the audience and laughter around him. Everyone knew Bill Patton, CEO of Ynspire industries and creator of the app that made people want to make apps had been a big influence on Wheatley “and it just hit me, out of the blue” he grinned “because I know all of us have been in that bind. We wanna run our business. We need to get our passion project off the ground. But we need people. Only the people are asking too much. Funploy changes all that. Funploy finds you the cheapest people to do the quickest service. You want someone to iron your clothes? Usual guy cost too much? Funploy keeps you updated in real time so you get the most competetitive price possible” Will grinned as behind him stats of happy customers grinned back “this is the ultimate app for anyone who wants to make sure that their bottom line really is as close to the bottom as possible. For the little guy running a business trying to compete in a world of big beasts. For the mom and pop stores struggling to get by, to the young entrepreneurs out here in the valley today with barely enough cash to cover their rent – Funploy brings you the best workers for the best price – guaranteed!”
There was a polite smattering of applause and a few whoops from Will’s pals in the audience. Will looked around proudly. This evening was the culmination of two years of sleepless nights, of hard work, of burning through his savings and that of his parents with only this image lighting up his head. An app that would bring employer and employee together. Where when a worker woke up they could scroll through a list of employers as easy as a Tindr profile to find their day of work, no strings attached. Where employers left in the lurch could find anything from a PA to a bartender to a lawyer as easy as hailing an uber. Will knew it was an idea that would change the world. His only worry was that someone else would get there first, hence the sleepless nights spent coding, AB testing. Debugging. Dealing with the million and one problems that were part and parcel of every startup going back to the two Steves in a garage trying to change the world with a computer named after a fruit.
“now, ladies and gentlemen, before we get to the entertainment” Will gestured at the live band, a group who’d scored background music on a Pornhub-HBO miniseries and were on the verge of bigtime success. However before  that they’d been just a lo fi post hip hop nobodies who’d lived for free in Will’s spare room. This was the favour being repaid “does anyone have any questions?”
A sea of hands, some from known investors. Others from his friendship group, planted to ask friendly questions. However Will was feeling bold, and instead went for an actual journalist – the last of a dying breed and the human equivalent of using a polaroid camera or a VHS recorder.
“Shelly Ming, LA times” said the journalist, her e-glasses large and serious and channelling Margot Kidder era Lois Lane “this is a very slick startup you have here, and its already proved its success in California”
“sure has” said Will “next stop, the world”
“but how do you counter the criticism that you are creating nothing more than an app for undermining unions, destroying long term contracts and turning even white collar work into  zero hour no guarantee work for hire? You offer no employee protection, no rights, nothing” she paused “how do you counter the charge that you’re nothing more than a modern day robber baron?”
“Hey” said Will, his arms outspread “we’re a startup. My entire team is a couple of guys in a coffee shop. I’m no sweatshop owner or GM farmer” he looked incredulous “come on, this project is my passion. It isn’t about the money, it’s about changing the world”
That was the tagline that they’d be writing up the next day, the journalist realised looking up at Will’s earnest and plump face. That this was a project born of a passion to change the world for the better, a classic Silicon Valley dream made reality. Not to become rich, nor powerful. But just to see a human need and fill it. that was what Ynspire was all about, and that was what Funploy was about. It didn’t matter that Funploy gave its user (never employees, employees had legal rights. Users did not) lower wages by far than the national average, or offered no long term guarantee of work. It didn’t matter that it was driving employment agencies out of business. What mattered was that it made the world just that little bit more efficient, and therefore just a little bit better.
What was worse, as Shelly watched Will leave the stage, was that Will believed it all.
“you know, I’m not like that” Will had cornered the journalist by the edge of the pool where she had been trying to get a shot on her ancient Nikon of the reflection of the water and the circulating investors and brogrammers that were partying. Shelly looked up to see Will’s earnest face, slightly sweaty in the warmth.
“like what?” she said, straightening up.
“like them” he said, twisting a beer bottle in his hands. It was a GM craft beer, made from an entirely unnatural substance but by a pair of Oregon based farmers. Shelly had tasted it earlier, it had been as if someone made liquid donuts with a dash of milkshake. Not really her thing, she drank Bud because that was what hardcore journos should drink. Will gestured at the investors, at Patton who was laughing away with one of the Uber brothers over some complicated glow in the dark cocktails.
“well, pretty soon you’ll be rich like them” said Shelly “you should enjoy it. you worked hard, after all” there was an edge of sarcasm in her voice that Will ignored.
“I didn’t do it for the money. I’m serious. I didn’t” Will look intently at the pool “I don’t know if you know what it’s like. Having a passion” he looked at her Nikon, at the complicated pockets on her jacket with extra lenses, extra film. All the unnecessary accoutrements when you could wear a pair of glasses that could get better pictures that could be immediately tweaked, edited, improved and uploaded by software “okay, maybe you do. So you should understand” he looked her in the eye, his wide face serious “you gotta remember, I didn’t have any guarantees when I began this. I didn’t have no big investors. No mom and pop trust fund. I worked during the day doing any work that would pay me a dollar – hell, half the stuff I put into Funploy was based on my experience working like a dog. Not knowing if I was gonna have a job in the morning”
“well now we all get to experience that uncertainty” said Shelly, raising her bottle of Bud in salute while she stowed her camera away in its padded bag “thanks man”
“come on, its not like that” Will looked over at the investors who’d helped make his dream a reality. He lighted on Patton “all I had was a dream, and you know nine out of tern startups fail. That’s why it was so important to have Ynspire, else I would have given up long ago” he looked back at Shelly “even so my odds of success were hella low. If I’d just wanted to get rich I’d have gone into something safe. I didn’t need to take a massive risk on a new app. I did it because I thought I could make things better. You know I used to hang around with brocialists? That was a big influence, I didn’t wanna be some libertarian asshole. I didn’t wanna be some Peter Thiel or Lucky Palmer type fucking people over for money…”
“and yet here you are” said Shelly, her eyebrow raised. She nodded at Patton “you know, you aren’t the first guy to use Ynspire to make an app that makes people’s lives worse”
“what do you mean?” asked Will “Ynspire doesn’t tell you what to do. It’s like Eno’s oblique strategies. It’s a method to help inspire creativity and to take you from idea to reality and beyond…”
“yeah, I’ve heard the tagline” said Shelly. She was starting to feel a bit light headed. She didn’t like these places, but if you were going to be a serious journo you had to follow power around. Like Hunter S Thompson and the presidential elections. Being in the belly of the beast made better journalism, and it also attracted better sponsorship – especially is she got kicked out for being drunk and rowdy “just, like I say. You aren’t the first. Lotta people using Ynspire end up coming up with the kind of apps that are one step away from illegal. Like that guy who created the militia app, or the one for spotting illegal migrants….”
“lots of different folks use Ynspire” said Will defensively, thinking of the other apps he knew people were making “besides there’s a friend of mine making an app so’s people on the poverty line can find the cheapest deals without having to trek to the nearest megamart. That can save people dollars who haven’t got two to rub together”
“and yet that app isn’t here, is it?” said Shelly, looking around “and do you think it would get this kind of investment if it was?” Will opened his mouth to argue back but realised she was right. He’d seen the app his friend had been working on, and both of them had worked just as hard. Only Will had got lucky when his friend had not. At the time he’d thought it was just the luck of the draw, and that in the end you never knew how the wheel would turn. Now he wasn’t so sure.
“look, just do me a favour?” said Shelly, itching to go off and shoot some of the techbro’s now they were a bit drunk and more likely to say something horribly misogynistic “when you get super rich, just use some of that money to help people, okay? Maybe your friend’s app, yeah?”
With that she was gone, and Will was left even more uncertain.
“umm, hey Mr Patton?” Will asked the investor timidly “could we…could we have a word?”
“sure dude” said the investor of Ynspire grandly, his face flushed from cocktails and the adulation of the brogrammers present. Will lead them both over to a deserted end of the pool. The band were just finishing up and there would be some pitches by lesser developers, hoping to score drunken investment from one of the wealthy people present.
“so, what’s on your mind, bro?” said Patton. He was in his middle fifties but his trim shape and surfer like affability made him look two decades younger. That and the fact he could afford to blow a few hundred grand on cosmetic enhancement.
“its just….my app” said Will, he picked at the label of his beer which featured a picture of what the brewers imagined the taste would look like if you visualised it -  a hellish Wonka like confection with overtones of kids cereals from the days before the sugar ban “I just get the feeling. I dunno. That maybe its not what I want”
“how’d you work that out man?” said Patton, looking confused “you got a solid gold app. Its gonna be a smash. You worked damn hard to make it, you went the distance. You lived that app. How could it not be what you wanted?”
“its just….just when I used Ynspire, it just seemed a great idea. Now I’m not so sure. I mean, did I do the right thing?”
“look dude” said Patton, his eyes looking heavy and his voice slightly slurred “you wanna know the truth?”
“what truth?” asked Will, confused
“it’s a lie, okay?” Patton looked sly, watching for Will’s reaction “the passion project shit. Ynspire isn’t what you think it is. It’s not some life guide to help you fashion your dreams into reality. It works the other way around”
“umm, what?” asked will, unsure if this was a joke. Patton had a reputation in the valley for his odd sense of humour.
“well, it isn’t about turning your idea into a passion project. What it really is about is seeding a bunch of ideas we dreamed up but don’t have the time or resources to bother creating and getting you guys to slave away making them a reality”
“I don’t…” began Will, his lip trembling “I don’t know what you mean. I really believed in Funploy….”
“you didn’t. You don’t” said Patton “you were tricked into creating apps that fucked over other people. I mean come on, an app that allows employers to aggressively employ only the lowest paid workers? That makes ordinary folks fight to the death just to get paid a basic living wage? That isn’t anyone’s passion. Not unless you’re a sociopath”
“but…but its about getting the best results for employers” protested Will “and giving working people the freedom to…”
“no, no its not” said Patton “its about getting you to work like a fucking dog, thinking that you’ve had this great idea that’s going to change the world. Instead it’s an idea dreamed up by some executive on Wall Street that if they tried to pull would get them on the front page of the NY times and probably lynched on social media if they launched it themselves. But because you’re a  young guy running a startup everyone gives you a free pass. Because you have passion” Patton gave a twisted grin.
“but…but it was my idea” Will stood on the edge of tears, his beer bottle forgotten in his hand. For all his protests some part of him knew that Patton was right. It had been spooky how easily the idea had come into his mind, of course putting into practice had been all his own hard work. All those sleepless nights. The relationships it had ruined, the friendships it had cost to get the app first into alpha and then beta. The schmoozing it had taken to get it a favourable rating in the apple store “okay. Maybe not. But it was my hard work”
“sure” said Patton, patting Will on the arm “just keep telling yourself that, buddy. Your hard work, and you’ll get the reward. Well a decent cut of the reward anyway”
“what do you mean?” said Will, his confusion now turning to cold anger
“who do you think we bothered to invest in your app?” Patton said, knocking back another tequila and laughing “who took it from just some guy’s idea to a realistically funded prototype?” Patton tapped his chest “we did. Because it was our idea in the first place. You just worked on it, just like every other poor sap in this world. No one gets to own anything. Well, no one but us”
Will bunched his fists, imagining sinking one of them into Patton’s smug face. But then he struggled to control his temper, not least because it wouldn’t look good to punch a major investor at his own launch party. He was also curious.
“how’d you do it?” said Will, letting a fake smile move across his face. He’d hustled enough times to know how to fake it “cause I’m guessing a good chunk of the apps you’ve invested in have been your own ideas, right?”
“oh, its simple” said Patton, his face a picture of drunken malevolence “everyone who wants to be a bigshot developer downloads my app. Because they want access to quick cash and the buzz from other startups, right?”
“yeah, sure” said Will
“well, because no one ever reads the terms and conditions they don’t notice the small print. That the app doesn’t turn off, even if you delete it. we loaded it with subliminals and peripheral software so that whenever you look at your phone its sending input to your eyeballs. You can’t help but absorb the information. Advertisers use it all the time, only cause all of them do it doesn’t work right. If both Coke and Pepsi are equally hitting you with subliminals they cancel each other out. But for people already looking for that big idea that’ll make ‘em richer than a Zuckerburg? Its dynamite”
“wow, that is cool” said Will, already looking in his e glasses for the source code of Patton’s app. Naturally it wasn’t exactly legal to come by, but as a partner of Patton’s he had more leeway “imagine having that much power”
“it’s like having a permanent hardon bud” said Patton, staggering slightly as he tried to dance near the pool “and talking of hardons” he looked at one of the geek girls whose presence was meant to convince everyone that the famous Silicon Valley sexism was a thing of the past. Patton was about to prove this very wrong “I’m gonna sexually harass some of these chicks. Don’t get too cut up, not everyone can have great ideas, right?”
“yeah” said Will, who was already leafing through Patton’s code “I won’t get mad” will was trying to hide a smile. He’d had another idea, and this one he was pretty sure was his own. Because if Patton could subliminally lace his Ynspire app with ideas then Will could do the same. But Will had a more revolutionary intent, he hadn’t forgotten his time with the brocialists. Maybe this time he could change the world for the better.

BLAZE Your Financial Future: 5 Steps to Create Wealth in Your Life
These days, it seems that numerous people need some love that is tough it comes to their financial health. Every day I meet people who have become unemployed, have taken a pay cut, or are experiencing a period that is slow their business. Along with that, they have credit card and student loan financial obligation, and their taxes, food, and gas costs are all skyrocketing. Sound familiar?
These individuals don’t need a simple money bandage to get them through the tough times; they need financial heart surgery! If that’s where you are right now with your business and personal finances, you are not alone.
So let’s get certain. Following is a detailed, five-step plan I share with my coaching client on how they can BLAZE their finances back on track. But beware: like that heart surgery metaphor, some of these steps aren’t going to be fun. Some could even hurt. But that’s the point: heart surgery isn’t fun, but it will save your life.
• B – Build Your Budget
When most people hear the expressed word“budget,” they recoil like a turtle into its shell. But once you see how budgeting can save your life that is financial becomes fun. Budgeting is a three-stop process.
Step one: Document your monthly expenses. This listing of expenses must include EVERYTHING. So grab all your bills right down to the Starbucks that is last latte. The goal is to have an accurate—not an imaginary—look at where you are financially. http://clashofclanscheats.us/ Just what you see may not be pretty, but that’s okay.
Step two: Calculate your charge card debt. Grab your bank cards and line them up in your desk. Call each company and ask them what your current APR is. Then, you’re going to instantly save money by getting them to change your interest rate. Here’s what you say: When they tell you your card’s current interest rate, you simply say, “Excuse me? How much did you just say?” And after they repeat the absurdly high number, you respond with, “Okay, I need to know what you’re going to do about that. Every day I’m getting a wave that is tidal of card offers with rates way lower than that. I’ve been with you for a while. So I need to know your absolute best rate offer you can give me today.” Then be silent and let your charge card company fight to give you a better deal. It always shocks people when they see just how much better of an interest rate they can get.
Next step: Cut your expenses. Look at the luxuries that are little give yourself each month, such as going out to lunch. A week for 52 weeks, that’s $2600 in one year while $10 for lunch may not sound like a big amount, when you multiply that by five days. Yes, you have to eat, but can you trim back to eating out two or three days a rather than five week? Now look down your list of monthly essential spending—things like gas for your vehicle. Do the math. The money you’re spending on eating out is the equivalent of over 700 gallons of gas! What if you could take half of that money and pay down the debt you owe on your credit cards? That would be like making money out of thin air. So every time you plan a trip out to lunch, visualize an essential spending item where your money would be more productive.
• L – Live Below Your Means
Living below your means does not always mean taking a vow of poverty. Very shocking things I’ve learned working with CEOs and those who’ve earned mega wealth is how modest and frugal almost all of them are—not cheap, but frugal. In other words, when there’s something worthy of making a investment that is serious like building their business web site, hiring an executive coach, or investing in the most talented accountant or lawyer, they go premium and spend. But when it comes to less important things, they hunt for a deal.
For instance, the Mayor of nyc, Michael Bloomberg, may be the 23rd person that is richest in the world. His worth that is net is at over $18 billion. But, based on the New York Post, Mayor Bloomberg has been wearing the pair that is same of shoes for 10 years. A reporter asked his representative why that was, and the representative said that Bloomberg only owns two pairs of dress shoes. He said, “He could buy any shoes he wanted, but he likes these…He buys just what he needs.”
If you grew up without much money, maybe those trinkets and designer handbags are status symbols that make you feel secure. Perhaps you think that those designer dress shoes are a projection of your inner worth. But the reality is that those at the don’t that are top like that, and neither should you if you'd like to join them.
• A – Accelerate Savings
The great financial writer David Bach says that individuals often give excuses as to why they can’t build up a savings account. He asks people to consider the “Latte Factor,” which is the idea that if you gave up your morning latte and muffin for a year, you’d have several thousands of dollars to save or invest. Again, it’s more or less finding those certain areas where you aren’t living below your means, focusing on it, and remaining disciplined about chipping away at debt or waste.
• Z – Zap Negative Spending Thoughts
When you go through a money makeover, it’s common to develop thoughts that are negative your lack or desire to splurge and spend. People feel such pressure to “keep up with the Jones” that they run their lives that are financial the ground. So here’s a tip that is fast zap negative spending thoughts. If you’re anything like most people, every day your email inbox gets flooded with materialistic marketing offers from your favorite clothing designer, cosmetic company, home furnishings store…whatever. That daily bombardment that is visual of can make you hunger for things you don’t need. So here’s what you do: Unsubscribe from ALL of those email lists…RIGHT NOW.
The more you de-clutter your spending that is visual landscape the easier it will be to reprogram your money mindset. You don’t need that stuff anyway, so remove the temptation. And even if you think you can overcome the temptation, you still want to create a new mental construct that’s based on the fifth and final principle…
• E – Enrich Others Through Giving
Marc Hrisko, wealth coach and author of the written book Kangaroo Millionaire, says, “Money is a boomerang…it always comes back to you.” The more you give, the more you receive in other words. Now that’s not saying you give in order to get. It simply means that giving teaches one to live from a large amount mindset, not a scarcity mindset.
Now here’s the part that is best: giving doesn’t require money. You can go to sites such as , , and to learn how you can donate one of your most resources that are precious your skills, time, and/or talents. The greater amount of you do that, the better you will be at perfecting your resources that are own.
Perhaps the bible (Christian Doctrine) dictates that we share as part of our financial health. Tithing is a popular way to do that, whereby you share 10% of a needy source to your income. So ask yourself, what is your tithe? What can you give every day or month that is an expression of your confidence that is financial and to care for the world around you?
When you think about giving think of this: Most of us spend our lives working ourselves to death to get things. We’re taught: “Work hard if you want to live the life.&rdquo that is good What I’m saying is different: “Work hard on who you’re being in the global world.” Keep in mind, what you've got in your life is a reflection of who you are.
Take Control
Taking control of your finances requires commitment. Just what are you committed to? Whether you are committed to your problems or to your dreams, to avoiding responsibility or achieving success, to taking life easy or making a difference no matter what effort it takes, you are being whatever you’re committed to. Commit to BLAZE your future that is financial today you can have the the next day of your dreams.
