Tomura Shigaraki

The vile and hateful leader the diabolical League of Villains, Tomura Shigaraki was born with a special super power (or quirk) that was all but destined to lead him down the path of super villainy. This power enables him to turn any solid object that is within his reach to dust, including both inorganic matter as well as living tissue. He additionally possesses a host of augmented physical and intellectual attributes.

Growing up with a highly abusive father, Tomura cultivated a harsh, nihilistic attitude. He came to hate the world around him. In particularl he hates super heroes, especially All Might for being the so-called symbol of peace. During his battle against the heroes, Tomura expresses his deep hatred against society, stating that they did not help him when he needed it most. Tomura also hates anyone who admires All Might like Izuku Midoriya. He and Izuku would go on to become arch rivals of one another.

In his earlier appearances, Tomura wore a unique costume composed of thirteen disembodied hands that covered his face and acted as a type of armor about his body. Although not explicitly spelled out, these hands seemed to symbolize both his past experiences of childhood abuse as well as how his hatred acts as a kind of shell or armor that hides the sad and traumatized soul within him.

Actor Kōki Uchiyama provides the voice for the villain; with actor Eric Vale voicing the character in the English language dub. Tomura Shigaraki first appeared in the twenty-eighth episode of the My Hero Academia anime, airing on July 15th, 2017.

JujuFes 2023 with Orchestra

Matsuzawa (MC): What was everyone doing when you came on stage? Enoki: Since we're collaborating with an orchestra today, we'd strike an "orchestra pose"... At least that's what I thought. Things got a little strange after Hanazawa came on stage. Hanazawa: I thought I'll portray someone who's not in an orchestra. Somehow a DJ came to my mind. Ogata: You don't find DJs in orchestras. Enoki: Isn't your turntable a little too high? Ogata: Plus don't you think we have too many percussion instruments? Enoki: You played the drums just like he did. Komatsu: No, I wasn't playing the drums! Enoki: You weren't? Komatsu: I was playing the marimba, since I've learned that as a kid. Enoki: Then there was Uchiyama who was the last to come on stage... Hanazawa: Uchiyama was the best. Uchiyama: Did something happen?

Top Shows I Watched in 2023 (not of)

SPOILERS!

7. Loki (Season 2) - 6.5/10

I don't have much to say about Loki other than I loved the final episode, Natalie Holt deserves some kind of award for her music and it makes me cry.

6. One Piece (Live Action) - 6.5/10

As everyone has already said, this should not have worked. I didn't have much faith in it, but I chose to watch it anyway. And I'm glad I did.

Though there were moments of stiff acting and/or line delivery, I still like it overall.

Though I still liked Roger's anime death more than here.

5. My Beautiful Man/Utsukushii kare (Season 2) - 7/10

I don't remember much considering I watched this months ago. But I do recall wanting and waiting for this for a WHILE. I was not disappointed and Utsukushii Kare stands as my favorite BL series. Minato's Laundromat would've been on the list, but it failed me, Utsukushii Kare hasn't. So yeah.

4. Jack O' Frost (2023) - 6/10

I have issues with the whole "an MC has amnesia" plot and considering this has happened 3 times in the same year is crazy to me.

But do recall I Fucking LOVE the music! OOOOHHHH, Shit! I love it. As soon as "Winter Days" started playing during episode 2 or 3, I immediately started looking for the soundtrack.

I also have yet another celebrity crush in Kyoya Honda.

3. Taira no Kiyomori - 8/10

This is unfair given the fact I started this last year and left for a month, making me finish this in January or February. But I still finished in 2023, so it counts!

As per my previous review, I was fucking bored with the first 6 to 9 episodes. After them, however, I loved this show. I love the music, I love the characters, and I like some of the comedy. There are so many great moments that I absolutely love.

Despite knowing how it ended, historically, I was still upset at the characters' deaths.

2. More Than Words (2022) - 6/10

I heard this was a Japanese BL, my favorite type of BL, and I guess. But as others have said, it's mostly about the relationship between Makio and Mieko. Though perhaps not for the second part of the story...

Anyway, I loved this show. It fucked me up, but I did stay up all night till 12 or 1 am to finish it, and I couldn't stop thinking about it for a month. So yeah, despite the score, I am putting it up here.

1. Kamakura dono no 13 nin/13 Lords of the Shogun - 7/10

HERE COMES THE MAIN MAN HIMSELF, KŌKI MITANI!

The main man himself, the man who wrote my favorite Taiga Drama, SANADA MARU! No wonder I was fucking addicted to this show. For first time in A WHILE I watched and finished this entire show in a week.

I was drawn into this show by the fucking neck. I just was.

I remember seeing You Oizumi as Minamoto no Yoritomo and thinking, "Nah." I couldn't get behind him, I simply didn't see it at first. Then he died and literally episodes later, I was missing this man.

All my favorite characters died. ALL! And since I don't know much about the Heian nor Kamakura period, I was taken out. Fucking Kazusa, dead; Minamoto no Yoshinaka, I knew this was so it's my fault, but dead; fucking Wada Yoshimori, I fucking loved him, and I didn't know it! DEAD!

They killed my pathetic twink, Minamoto no Sanetomo. And he was gay! FUCK! I was heavily upset.

And the fact that it ends with Yoshitoko's death via his sister not giving him his medicine and watching him die! Gods dammmmmnnn!

Kōki Mitani you heavenly fucker! Ah!

I also love the music, one of my favorites Taiga drama themes.

Now, that wasn't all I watched, but simply all I felt should be on the list. I refuse to put ten shows up here if I don't care enough for them.

Here's to another year.

Furihata, a college student strapped for cash, finds a part-time job working at an upscale restaurant as a waiter, and one fateful evening an Adonis of a man is sitting in Furihata's section with the epitome of a middle-aged businessman. Somehow conquering his gay panic, Furihata serves the two men. Polite and courteous, the young man may be but his companion is brusque and rude not only to Furihata but to the redhead. Grateful to fulfill to leave, Furihata quickly goes to input their orders, when he returns a few short moments later the businessman looks sufficiently defeated and cowed. The young man sits triumphant, in control, and naturally terrifies Furihata to his core. How could someone, seemingly his own age, change the viotile atmosphere so quickly in his favor? It turns out - from the black credit card he paid with - Akashi Seijuurou could.

For better or worse, after multiple repeat weeks it seems that Akashi-san arranges work dinners at this restaurant and prefers to sit on the deck for a better view of the Tokyo cityscape or perhaps it's for the brief refreshing company of a specific server he wishes to know better?

For weeks, Akashi-san keeps arranging work dinners in the restaurant where Kōki works. And each time, the former always, always, always specifically requested the latter to serve him personally.

One day, Akashi-san is having yet another work dinner with a particularly loud, foul-mouthed & rowdy business partner. Said business partner keeps making rude gestures & insulting comments about everything. He swung his arms wildly that he knocked Kōki off-balance, causing him to stumble & spill the other customers' foods & drinks he was carrying.

But of course, since the business partner is an unreasonable jerk, he blames Kōki for not being careful enough & demands responsibility from the waiter. Kōki wants to protest, but he can't afford to lose his job, so he just endures it.

Thankfully, his co-workers, manager & the other customers saw what happened, so Kōki knows he's not the one guilty. But that doesn't stop the business partner's rants & tantrums. If anything, it only provokes him further. The manager eventually has to call security guards to escort him out.

A few hours passed & it's closing time. Kōki switches the lights off, locks the back door & exits the restaurant. He turns to the side & spotted Akashi-san standing in front of the restaurant's now closed entrance.

This, of course, makes Kōki nervous. But at the same time, he couldn't deny that a small part of him was actually curious about the whole thing. Was Akashi-san waiting for him? What could possibly bother him so much that he was willing to wait until the restaurant closed? Oh God, did he somehow offend him so much without even realizing it?

But all those worries & anxiety were for naught when Akashi-san approached him & the first thing he asked Kōki about was his well-being.

They talk, and, much to Kōki's surprise, he found himself actually enjoying Akashi-san's company. The businessman even offered the waiter a ride home, seeing there are no more trains operating at this late hour.

So when they reached Kōki's place, he felt somewhat reluctant to say goodbye to Akashi-san, but the latter assured the former that he's looking forward to having another work dinner at the restaurant.

As a bonus, Akashi-san gave Kōki his business card, with a handwritten number on the back (which Akashi-san confirmed as his personal number - the printed number on the front is his work/business number).

Kōki felt like the happiest guy on earth.

to say that kinji was annoying was an understatement. he was less a walking, talking pet, and more this ever-breathing thorn in kōki’s side, seemingly designed specifically to get on every single one of his nerves. if it’s not one thing, it’s another. if it’s not kinji taking or breaking things to get on his nerves, then it’s kinji following behind kōki oh his way into one place or another just to bug him the entire time. today, it was the little fox all but breathing down kōki’s neck while he was moving someone’s supplies to the docks, already being paid for the task he never had any intention on finishing. after the first trip, kōki had already stopped what he was doing, moving to sit atop a roof, perched on the corner as he watched some nameless soul do the job for him, convinced that they were kōki. he’s soon bored with the little charade, snapping his finger and watching as everyone in his line of sight promptly began to descend into the brewed chaos he’d let fester since before he’d even met kinji. ‘ little fox, ’ he thinks, voice cast directly into kinji’s mind, gaze shifting to the other. for at least the past ten minutes, he’d trapped his kitsune in a massive flame in response to the pestering questions. ‘ kill them. ’ / @hiisfire liked.
