"Ambient Buddhism" TAKEO SUZUKI | Japanese Ambient Music
TAKEO SUZUKI, who is also a Buddhist, has created this album under the concept of "Ambient Buddhism", carefully selecting more meditative and Buddhist tracks from among his past ambient tracks.
The album contains 12 tracks, all of which are long tracks for meditation and mental concentration.
Buddhism is a philosophy of liberating one's mind rather than a mystical one. We hope this album will make you interested in Buddha's philosophy even a little.

Japanese ambient pioneer Hiroshi Yoshimura follows 1982s Music For Nine Post Cards with Pier & Loft. Originally self-released released on cassette only in 1983 Pier & Loft didn't get a vinyl release until 2017. Without the internet Hiroshi Yoshimura might well still be unknown outside of Japan, Light In The Attic's reissue of Music For Nine Postcards in 2018, the inclusion of the track Blink from the album on the LITA compilation Kankyo Ongaku: Japanese Ambient, Environmental & New Age Music 1980-1990, and the reissue of Green in 2020 has helped increase his recent popularity in the west

Storm Stereo 73: View From My Window: Kankyō Ongaku
A journey into the soothing world of Japanese environmental and ambient music. It blossomed during the ’70s and ’80s thanks to corporate sponsorship of the arts. It would become a symbol of Japanese prosperity. For its creators, it would become a vessel for a deep artistic practice, rooted in a cosmic sonic philosophy. For its listeners today, it offers a window into a uniquely creative period in…
Hiroshi Yoshimura, who has become one of the most recognizable figures of kankyō ongaku (environmental music), was a scholar of sound and music that considered study to be just as important as creating, much like his close friend Satoshi Ashikawa. Throughout his long career, his music has been featured in advertisements for makeup, packed in with cosmetics purchases, on the floor of department stores, and as art installations. GREEN, which is an algorithmic favorite and a work Yoshimura considered to be one of his best, was recorded in his home studio in the mid-’80s. The album was created with a Yamaha FM synthesizer, chosen for its exceptionally clear and defined tones. Yoshimura writes for the liner notes that the title was chosen to represent “the comfortable scenery of the natural cycle.”
An album of Buddhist ambient music released on bandcamp in 2023.
This album was released on M&H SOUND Studio, an ambient label for listening that TAKEO SUZUKI personally established. It is an album of carefully selected tracks created through trial and error of Japanese-style ambient music. It is a meditative and mystical sound experience.
