hey darlin’s ♡ welcome to my first “review”
ALBUM SPOTLIGHT:
Blood Was Never Thick As Water
by Pouya
2021
personal rating:
💜💜💜💜🖤 4/5 hearts
favorite track:
“Why Do We Get High?” Is so lit. I find it to be the most memorable song on this entire album.
least favorite track:
I’d have to say “Dying Slowly” even though I do understand it’s probably just meant to be an intro🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻
Notes:
so I’ve been listening to Pouya since maybe 2016(or 17?) and seeing his evolution as an artist has been awesome. really, if I go back and listen to his older stuff (i.e his earlier work with $uicide boy$ or Underground Underdog) you can see how much he’s grown even through the lyrics alone. The works I just mentioned are reminiscent of a kid just trying to make it big, flex, or create a sick track for whoever wants to listen: whichever comes first. Meanwhile Blood Was Never Thick As Water definitely feels more heartfelt and real. It feels like a mixture of the artist just genuinely wanting to share his thoughts and feelings with the listener while somehow at the same time still carrying the intention of “making a sick track for whoever wants to listen.”
anyway, you could say I’m a bit biased since I did go to the Blood Was Never Thick As Water tour (which was a crazy experience in itself? …for uhh context I introduced myself as my instagram spam account multiple times and almost beat a creep fat kid’s ass he pushed my small ass down in the pit FOR WHAT😭) anywayyy atmosphere was great, mosh pits were lit, and everyone who preformed fucking killed it. I only regret not getting merch but shiiii that merch was mfkin expensive as all hell, but I get it 🤷🏻 homeboy gotta make that bag.
Notable Tracks:
- “Leave Me Alone”
- “Walk In”
- “I’ll Always Be Around”
“It's never you against the world, it's you against the mirror”
