Prodigal Dragonborn AU
Thinking of a timeslip AU where due to Misadventure, Lucien from PD ends up in some other timeline where time went another way, and he and Miraak didn't meet.
Started out as a Gol Hah Dov AU, and that would be interesting, Lucien seeing a timeline where Miraak has not only hooked up with someone else, but met Lucien, even got on with him, but never showered any of that obsessive devotion on him that Lucien First Acolyte of the Cult of Miraak got without even trying. Not to mention Chry reacting to a Lucien that has Slept With His Husband In The Other Timeline, and GHD Lucien losing his mind and panicking.
However, I couldn't actually write that as GHD is very much not my fic... but I could do one without the GHD elements, and a straight up AU of PD where Melinda fell to Miraak who successfully escaped Apocrypha. And because this Miraak is, to put it mildly, very much still a Dark Lord Dragonborn, he sets out to conquer the world, and two years or so after escaping, has killed Ulfric and taken over Windhelm and the Stormcloaks, legalised Talos worship after acknowledging Talos as an honoured and respected precursor Dragonborn worthy of worship, and is now High King of most of an independent Skyrim.
However, there is a resistance movement. A Certain Someone did not take too kindly to his partner getting killed, and raced back to Whiterun to raise the alarm. And so Whiterun is still independent under Jarl Balgruuf, but it's also home to the resistance militia known as the Merry Men, who wear jester outfits to hide their real faces and carry out guerrilla attacks on Miraak's cultists wherever they find them. No prizes for guessing who they're led by.
The only reason Whiterun has held out against three dragons, Bend Will and the massed ranks of the Cult of Miraak and Stormcloaks is down to Cicero having hit up Madanach, and seeing as the Reach's Jarl bent the knee to Miraak, the Forsworn responded with aid and a magical shield to keep Bend Will at bay. The jester masks are likewise proof against mind control magic.
Anyway PD Lucien finds himself in the midst of all of this, dressed in his First Acolyte robes, probably fell through an Eye of Magnus-caused anomaly. He doesn't fully realise anything's changed - but his resonant sphere isn't resonating, and he can't feel Miraak in his head any more although the bond is still there. Weird and suspicious, but fixable potentially so back to Winterhold he goes. He gets back to Winterhold hoping for tea, a nice cuddle with his husband and the attentions of his cat. Walks into the longhouse... no cat. No Morrigan or Argis or kids. Just Jarl Korir and court, who see the robes and mask, assume he's part of the cult and do at least make him welcome, wanting to know if he's with the High King.
Lucien is looking around at a longhouse still heated and lit with naked flames rather than the steampipes and electric lights he's used to, and is almost afraid to ask what happened to the College. Turns out the Saarthal dig never happened, Miraak nixed the expedition on arriving in Winterhold with his troops, partly to ingratiate himself with Korir and partly for some reason Miraak never did fully explain... as if he knew what they might find there. Anyway, Aren still leads the College, which has accepted the regime change quite easily. Attitudes to magic have undergone a dramatic shift what with a True Nord Dragonborn High King Who Legalised Talos Worship wielding it as capably as any College member.
Lucien just stares mutely at the falling-apart bridge that Miraak never bothered fixing... and with no siege at the College, never needed to destroy either, and resolves to go to Windhelm.
He's let in, cultists looking at the robes then wanting the mask removed, and on looking at his face, look very confused and wonder when he left the city, weren't you at the palace with Our Lord?
"Clearly not, you should take me back there, he's probably missed me!" Lucien says cheerfully. Inwardly he's panicking, because they recognised him?? King Miraak knows Lucien Flavius??
Apparently so. King Miraak is masked and robed, no one ever sees his real face. But he starts on seeing Lucien, especially the robes, because why is Lucien wearing robes like his.
"You are a guest at my court, Lucien, but do not presume more than that. Even Archmagister Viidost doesn't have robes like this... wait, did she enchant these???"
Viidost is summoned and denies ever having seen these in her life, in fact Mr. Flavius is upstairs having tea and studying some Dwemer volumes acquired off Calcelmo in Markarth right now, he's been there for hours. And then Miraak looks closely at Lucien and realises the vennesetiid do not behave normally around him At All, and that he's from a different timeline, and suddenly Miraak has All The Questions.
"Keep Mr Flavius occupied and ensure he does not come to find me for the next few hours. I have a... visitor to entertain."
The resulting conversation is enlightening for both. Won't write it all out, but the main plot beats are this:
King Miraak is not the tyrant he seems. He's actually been quite the enlightened ruler, with schools of Jhunal opening in his territory and the study of magic becoming a little more respectable among Nords.
The Bards College regularly send students on placement to Windhelm to learn history from King Miraak.
The Butcher of Windhelm got caught within weeks of Miraak taking over Windhelm, and the Grey Quarter's been renovated. Argonians and Dunmer are allowed in the city, as are the Khajiit subject to skooma and stolen goods searches.
The Jarls serving him are actually mostly loyal. Laila Law-Giver was restored to Riften after Season Unending's events, and Maven was Bend Willed into submission. That led to Mercer Frey's execution and the return of the Skeleton Key, and Karliah is now a loyal agent of Miraak's. The Guild operates along similar lines to Ankh-Morpork's now. ;)
With Cidhna Mine no longer a prison in Markarth, the Reach is rather more peaceful and the Forsworn are haemorrhaging recruits. Miraak's yet to fight them full on, but he's got plans.
Miraak smashed the Dawnguard questline, brutally slaughtering Harkon personally. He's got Auriel's Bow mounted on his wall but rarely uses it. Serana lives at his court and is one of his closest friends and advisors. Isran is Miraak's right hand in the Rift. (Karliah's the left.)
Alliance agreement signed with Morrowind, who recognised the Free Kingdom of Skyrim and have an Embassy in Eastmarch.
This timeline's Lucien arrived at Windhelm not long before PD Lucien, hoping King Miraak might assist with an expedition to Solstheim to investigate Dumzbthar. This timeline's Lucien is a lot more naive and sheltered and innocent, and fascinated to meet a timeline traveller! Still less a version of him! Goodness, you must tell me all about it.
PD Lucien gives an edited version to his counterpart... but he tells Miraak the truth, seeing the man's not all evil, and even attempts to flirt with him, reasoning it's not cheating to get close to his timeline's equivalent of his husband, is it? It doesn't quite go according to plan but while sex doesn't happen (Lucien is secretly OK with that), an emotional tie does form.
Plot Twist! This timeline's Lucien was working for the Merry Men, hoping to lure Miraak out to Dumzbthar in person where Cicero is lying in wait, waiting for revenge.
Alas for PD Lucien having warned Miraak about what's down there, and that Melinda's partner was an Imperial redhead named Cicero who was an ex-assassin who owned a jester's outfit. Miraak instantly sees the Merry Men connection.
Plot Twist number two - Miraak never died so he still has a lot of Daedric corruption going on. The reason he never removes the mask is that he's got sickly pale grey skin with mottled black blood vessels and completely dark eyes with blue irises the only relief. His tongue and gums are black as well as his blood. Hardly anyone's seen it but he'd not survive long if his real face was ever seen. Miraak rips the mask off to show PD Lucien this after he tries to chat him up, but when Lucien reacts with genuine sadness and kindness instead of revulsion, that's when the emotional barriers give way. A strong friendship forms, and Miraak tells PD Lucien his husband is lucky to have him. Miraak's sense of honour places PD Lucien off limits romantically and sexually, for which Lucien is frankly relieved. But Miraak, after receiving a positive reaction from one Lucien, starts looking thoughtfully at the other one.
Not entirely sure how it'd all work out, especially as I don't normally write the Forsworn as antagonists, nor Cicero, who, let's face it, isn't surviving this.
I'm thinking PD Lucien somehow managing to persuade the other Lucien to switch sides and share his intel on the Merry Men. Dumzbthar trip happens, Cicero joins the party not realising Miraak knows who he is, turns traitor around the Oblivion Gate and PD Lucien gets in the way of the knives just as the portal opens behind Cicero and the last thing he sees before passing out is two Miraaks, one of whom is slaughtering Cicero while the other is healing him and telling him to hold on.
PD Lucien wakes up and suddenly realises the bond is there, and he can feel Saviik, and then realises GRIGIO is purring on his chest, and opens his eyes to see his perfectly healthy husband holding his hand, tears in his eyes.
Took Dumzbthar the longest time to get a lock on the resonant sphere's plane of existence, but Saviik had faith Lucien in any universe would wind up at Dumzbthar eventually and so it has proved. This timeline's Lucien managed to get the facility under control, and now King Miraak has a mighty Dwemer army plus the Liisunvaar at his disposal.
"Doesn't that bother you? I mean, isn't that bad? Aren't you afraid what he might do with it?"
Saviik laughs, wiping tears away. "Niid, lokaali. My first impression of him was you moving to save his life, and him saving yours with his healing magic. You are clearly convinced he's not beyond redemption, and he clearly treasures you. Also we have spoken. He speaks very highly of you and sees you as a true friend, and reassured me he has not taken advantage of you. In return, I have told him the Reachfolk have his daughter and grandson living peacefully among them, and also pointed him Matriarch Keirine's way. If he goes in peace to her, and promises to spare her people, she might help him be healed."
PD Lucien goes home with Saviik to live happily ever after. King Miraak sees him off with the other Lucien at his side, who not-so-secretly hero-worshipped the dashing First Acolyte who was smart and brave and heroic and all the things he's not.
King Miraak is a bit surprised to hear this, telling him he, Lucien of this timeline, is the reason Miraak now has a submarine and automaton army, and that while PD Lucien's stories may have inspired, who is going to help him bring steam power and electricity to his domain once it has peace, hmm?
"What... you don't mean me, do you?" Lucien gasps, going pink, and Miraak nods.
"Yes, Court Scientist Lucien, of course I do."
Lucien is delighted, accepts, wait, he's not going to use the machines to level Whiterun, is he?
No, in fact it turns out with a lot of the Merry Man leadership dead on Solstheim, the militia band falls apart. Balgruuf is a pragmatist at heart and a secret Talos worshipper to boot and agrees to talks now he doesn't have a psychotic motley-clad widower in his court to worry about.
As for the Forsworn, it turns out Madanach is ill and dying and the Forsworn are on their knees. Keirine is the one to agree to a surrender in return for their lives and help for her brother.
One Dwemer oxygen tank for his breathing, and Miraak is able to craft a Shout to sort his mind out. Madanach is, if not pleased at realising he's got to talk terms with Igmund, at least grateful for his life back, even if this is going to require regular shipments of cylinders for the breathing apparatus and regular restoration treatments off Miraak personally to really fix his lungs. How much is this going to cost... all you want is a few hours to talk to Morrigan? Sold.
Keirine's fascinated by the Daedric corruption, but is unsure how to fix. She's never seen anything like it. Still, there are many kinds of Daedric corruption, and a ritual to fix another kind might work on this too. Off to Morthal's summoning circle for a reworked version of the vampirism cure, and Miraak's unstained once more.
Lucien was along for the ride, for science of course, and is delighted Miraak's cured, but also a little sad.
"I suppose you'll be going unmasked more often. Everyone is going to want a piece of you now. Goodness, you're probably going to get suitors! I... oh."
Crestfallen Lucien, who's barely been away from the High King's side since the other Lucien went home... only when Miraak returned to Windhelm and Lucien stayed at Dumzbthar to research more, and they wrote constantly even then. Lucien had seen the stains, and like his counterpart, reacted with sympathy... and a cuddle. Miraak had immediately given him Hugging Privileges and Lucien had enjoyed being in the Inner Circle very much, even if it was blindingly obvious First Acolyte Lucien was definitely the handsomer, smarter and more accomplished of the two of them.
"He is that way because of my influence," Miraak had told him once, smiling at him. "Shall we see what I influence you towards?"
So far, other than long, lengthy discussions about Dwemer engineering, the Dragon Cult, and anything else Lucien had questions about, he wasn't sure exactly what that had entailed. But Miraak had seemed to enjoy keeping him close by and taking him with him when travelling. Mostly to mind the Dwemer machines but Lucien had sometimes wondered.
Regardless, Miraak had seemed to want to spend most of his free time with Lucien, and Lucien had loved the attention... except if Miraak got married, Lucien supposed the new queen might not want the Court Scientist showing up to talk her husband's ear off until the early hours of the morning.
He needn't have worried. Miraak saw all too clearly and asked gently if the idea of Miraak getting married to another and having no time left for Lucien bothered him. Lucien nodded sadly, and then Miraak smiled, leaned down and kissed him, fingers caressing his cheek.
"I already have an heir, and don't need marriage to cement alliances with three dragons at my disposal. In fact, the only power I would ally with that is not already in touch is the Empire to the south. Do you think they would listen if word reached them one of their young nobles was going to be my consort? Do you think your family have enough court influence to persuade the Emperor to be reasonable?"
"I'll ask," Lucien breathes, pink and tearful and oh goodness, the High King just kissed him and proposed. Which is all a bit too much, a LOT too much... but of course he wants to, he's spent months staring at the First Acolyte version of himself getting cosy with the High King and the two of them seeming quite happy together, with Lucien wishing he was even a tenth that cool. Apparently the High King seems to think he's halfway there already.
"This isn't just because the First Acolyte got away, is it" Lucien has to ask. Miraak shakes his head.
"No. He was never mine to have. I was always intrigued by him but I knew he was pledged to another version of me, and knew he'd be thinking of that other man the whole time. I enjoyed his company and friendship but never took him to bed. You though. You're not pledged to anyone. You could be mine. I have been thinking that even while he was still here, but was never sure if you felt the same. Until now."
Lucien isn't sure what to say to that, so settles for a hug instead, accepts the proposal on condition they take things slowly in the bedroom, to which Miraak actually agrees.
Peace talks happen. His mother's instrumental in the whole deal. A treaty and trade agreement eventually result, and peace comes to Tamriel at last. And of course, Lucien gets legally united with Miraak, and physically reunited with his cat.

I just had an au idea heavily inspired by Shamat and Riiju-lei….
Im half awake and on my phone btw pardon any typos or if it’s incoherent
Yknow Nerevarine becomes Nerevar and it’s the 4th era and all that. Except Nerevar and Voryn last left off on a really bad note. Voryn was already super corrupted by the heart but Nerevar thought he was at least semi-lucid. And Voryn had pretty harshly told Nerevar he hates him and never wants to see him again. That he’ll kill Nerevar himself to finally be free of him. And post killing dagoth ur this still fucks Nerevar up
He’s not evil Nerevar he just has. Bad ptsd from everything along w insomnia and psychosis (I have psychosis and I like writing characters with it) and he’s convinced that while he was madly in love w Voryn and tried to use that love to convince him out of the fight in the heart chamber… Voryn never really loved him. They were only friends for convenience on Voryn’s end and Voryn probably began to hate and resent him early on in the friendship but had to stay close bc Nerevar was king and could pose a threat if he let his real feelings show so he’d rather act like he enjoyed Nerevar’s company and subtly manipulated him just to survive
So when he finds Voryn’s reincarnation injured and low it’s… it gives him many mixed feelings. He’s happy to see Voryn’s face again, and also believes Voryn wouldn’t want Nerevar anywhere near him reincarnation or not. He feels guilty enjoying his reincarnation’s smile and laughter and sweet voice. But he tells himself over and over that it’s just for his sake, he would send the reincarnation somewhere else if he could but Nerevar is the best person to protect him at the moment. It’s just temporary and he’ll let the reincarnation now somewhere outside of Morrowind where he’ll actually be safe. He kept his distance enough that it’s not a super painful goodbye on the reincarnation’s heart, but he does wonder why he feels so cold and empty leaving. Nerevar wishes him good luck and sets him off to Skyrim
Where dragonborn shenanigans happen and alduin is slain. And then the gang goes to Solstheim where cult shit (outside miraak’s) happens and oops. Dagoth ur and Voryn Dagoth are both trying to get in that body. It’s a chaotic mess. Most of the cultists are dealt with but Neloth calls in Nerevar
And Nerevar. Well. He’s not happy to hear it at all but he comes running and does know the solution. He and Divayth were working on making sure dagoth ur never returns—Azura prophecized his reincarnation after all, and Nerevar interpreted in the most dire way possible assuming she meant dagoth ur and not Voryn. (To Nerevar of course she wouldn’t bother just telling him about Voryn coming back because it’s not like it concerns him. Voryn would want nothing to do with him, and hated him arguably more than the tribunal did. So she must be warning dagoth ur would be coming back)
The mask ritual is what they came up with to banish dagoth ur. But divayth warns him since he hypothesizes Voryn’s soul is completely bound to dagoth ur, a reincarnation choosing to banish dagoth ur will banish Voryn’s personality, memories, etc with it. He’ll truly never see Voryn again and won’t even have the chance to talk to him abt what happened and apologize. Nerevar says that’s definitely for the best, because as much as he wants it he doesn’t want to hurt Voryn either.
He would have done it on the reincarnation at the temple to be safe but his reincarnation seemed so sweet and lovely, he couldn’t bear the thought. The ritual is likely going to be painful and miserable and he didn’t do anything to deserve it, he didn’t choose to be Voryn’s reincarnation.
But he assures team dragonborn this is their best bet and if they encourage him he’ll be able to fight it off. He doesn’t tell them about his close relationship with Voryn or even that any bits of Voryn in him will also be banished because he doesn’t. Really think it’s relevant their friend is suffering trying to fight it off himself. And he’s in a bad way fluctuating rapidly from classic dagoth ur insults, screaming, confused screaming, and begging for Nerevar to help him—team dragonborn initially confused on who Nerevar is.
And the ritual is a success! Only it didn’t banish Voryn but instead made all of it surface in his mind and he’s out cold processing it for several days. It all seems to have worked though and he can’t sense dagoth ur’s influence on him in the slightest. Makes sure to get him all set up with healers. Though he still tries to keep his distance despite team dragonborn being like “hhhhhey db seemed to know you and kept calling for you to help what was that” and Nerevar laughs it off that he knew the man dagoth ur used to be as they were political allies for a time and basically coworkers AND he helped the reincarnation when he was injured one time so it probably all bled together. Hey he and divayth are going to be the only two ppl alive now who know there’s more to it than that his reincarnation doesn’t need to know how much bad blood there really was between them more than absolutely necessary. He’ll probably already be upset about dagoth ur and everything he doesn’t need to feel guilty about what Voryn said (and Nerevar does believe Voryn was probably in the right on that one). He does spill though that Voryn’s personality and memories will be gone AFTER the ritual is finished, but he tries to do that to reassure them that almost everything should be back to normal and they can forget this all every happened really
But uhhhhh yeah. Dragonborn wakes up with Voryn’s memories crying and demanding to go to morrowind to speak with Nerevar. Team dragonborn reassured him that Nerevar is already here on Solsthiem bc neloth called for him to help with the whole tribunal cult and weird possession shit. Lucien probably is like “he said he and your previous incarnation—well before dagoth ur—was your coworker of sorts. But that not to worry, your won’t remember anything from that man either!”
And the dragonborn has to deadpan “a little late for that. I remember everything” or smth along those lines. Just feeling absolutely awful for what he said to Nerevar before Nerevar was forced to kill him. And then gets told “he said you were political allies and coworkers” and has to go “COWORKERS?! WE WERE CLOSR FRIENDS FOR CENTURIES. THE CLOSEST OF FRIENDS. I TOLD HIM ALMOST EVERYTHING WHAT DO YOU MEAN COWORKERS?!?!” Before it dawns on him that ohhhhhh god neht actually thought this ritual would banish all of Voryn’s memories too and he’d never remember Nerevar again. But was willing to give that up to truly free him from dagoth ur’s influence like he couldn’t do so long ago. He’d rather lose his closest friend and the man he loved for a THIRD time than risk Voryn losing himself again.

Omg pls talk more about your skyrim or were-joe aus!!!
~ fan-mans
Tumblr media
I AM HERE TO DELIVER YEEES ✨
Hiya Fan-Mans!
I’ll give a few facts for both!
SKYRIM AU
Dragonborne blood has (very) recently been discovered to reach several vessels/people. The Greybeards even believe that one dragonborne can bless others with dragonborne blood through magic.
The current dragonborne in the Age of Alduin are:
The Player/The Dragonborne (Little Mac):
A mysterious young traveler having just arrived in Skyrim. Having just escaped Helgen, he traveled to Whiterun in order to warn the Jarl, and soon discovered his power.
Samuel (Sandman)
A very strong, and very intimidating half-orc man. Having discovered the power of the Thu’um, or shout in an old cave, he travelled to the Graybeard’s to discover more. However, he learned of a second dragonborne, and thus both were taught. He assists the first Dragonborne with his/their work whenever he is asked. His greatest wish is to defeat Alduin and save Tamirel.
However, the roads of Skyrim are filled with both horrifying creatures and powerful allies. Sometimes, you might even discover that both of these things aren’t completely separate.
Some monster sightings in the region include:
The Elder Blood, a group of vampires lead by a frail pale man, with beautiful hair as red as the blood he feasts upon. 🥖
The Seven Scales, a horrifying combination of man and snake that lives in the wilds of The Reach…and feasts upon any unfortunate travelers that stumble into his cave. 🍀
The Moon’s Cursed Mage, a mage who has been cursed to morph into a cursed feline-like monster every full moon in Tamirel. 🐅
The King’s Gambit, a horrid mash of man and dwarven machine that has been waiting to be unleashed in the ruins that have held him for centuries. 🥾
The Siren’s Song, a mixture between Lurker and Man, a horrid spell cast upon a traveller who visited Solstheim. Yet another attempt by Miraak to end the dragonborne’s life, he now wails a cursed sea song. 🏄‍♂️
Many more lie in wait…whether you make them friend or foe, is your choice.
WEREJOE 🥖🐺
Ever since being bitten, Joe has been eating more meat. Too afraid to eat it raw, he tries to incorporate every meal he makes with cooked meat in order to quell the extreme hunger for it.
Joe howls at the moon, even when it doesn’t trigger his transformation. It has woken up MANY of his neighbors, and has even resulted in some noise complaints. Joe has answered his door only to be requested to calm his dog down, and have to painfully explain that he does not have a dog.
WereJoe!’s fur is supernaturally soft for a lycanthropes. It feels like a well-taken care of dog’s fur.
If WereJoe gets wet in the times he has shifted, he will smell like wet dog. It’s guaranteed.
Werejoe’s bites can turn another person into a werewolf. He makes absolutely sure to stay away from anyone he can when he shifts, especially his friends.
Joe always wakes up exhausted after full moons, not even coffee can keep him awake.
That’s all I got for now! Thanks so much for the ask Fan-Mans!! 💃✨

I was tagged by the wonderful @miraakulous-cloud-district to play this lovely game about what kind of music Miraak and my oc, Jia, would listen to in a Modern AU. I had never thought about it until now, and it is so cool, so here we go! 😍😍😍 As for Jia, I have a hunch that she would listen to either rock (love) ballads and/or progressive rock – her favorite song would definitely be 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen with Freddie Mercury being her most beloved artist. But, I believe she would be a lover of blues too, Gary Moore, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher, etc. You got the picture!
And as for Miraak, I think he would listen to dad rock e.g. Led Zeppelin, and mostly heavy metal e.g. Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Judas Priest (see what I did there?😂). Also, I have a mental image in my head right now, of him listening to 'Snuff' by Slipknot, lighting up, and smoking a roll-your-own cigarette...

My #1 post of 2022
Okay so I'm doing a Stormcloak playthru and I'm going thru all of Ulfric's dialogue and like, yeah he's a racist bastard but when it comes exclusively to the war with the Empire and the effects of the Empire in Skyrim Ulfric has a fucking Point
Like the High King has been in recent history chosen by the Emperor and backed in the moot by jarls who were paid off by the Empire, and Ulfric says Skyrim should have the right to choose their own ruler who supports their province's best interest and not the interest of their own pockets.
Like yes Ulfric gunning for the throne is backed by entirely selfish desires and he only believes he knows what is best for Skyrim, but like in abstract he has a Point.
Which is why I love the idea of an AU of him talking to Torygg instead of killing him because like... HE HAS A POINT.
Imagine a High King Torygg backed by Ulfric's ideal of a free Skyrim and the combined force of the loyalty they hold over the people of Skyrim. The Empire would be ran out of the province, not easily, but a lot easier than the current war, and they'd be able to focus their combined strength to prepare for the true enemy: The Thalmor.
And Hammerfell is just to the west of Skyrim. Imagine a newly liberated Skyrim signing treaties with Hammerfell to use their combined strength to fight the Thalmor.
Does this completely ruin part of the Dragonborn prophesy? Yes. Do I care? No.
I just love Ulfric redemption AUs because his character has SO MUCH POTENTIAL outside of the bland 2D racist character he's portrayed as.

The Worst AU: skyrim is a shopping mall
Gonna go for Miraak/Laat again. Love a good Capitalism AU. Hmm have any of you played Outer Worlds? There's a guy in the shopping centre there whose got this stupid moon mask on and he's not allowed to take it off.
So! Miraak in the shopping centre bookshop with a weird Lovecraftian themed uniform. As always, he never seems to leave - in fact, Laat catches him napping on one of the armchairs once. He responds in only corporate approved advertisements and logos and says nothing else. Laat is determined, as an agent of chaos and devotee of their fun uncle Sanguine to break his cool. They stand just one step out of the shop and constantly attempt to talk to him.
This naturally results in uhh unsolicited use of the back room on company time.
At least the other holds in a bunch of the other chain stores in the shopping centre. The tired people constantly talk about unionising against the jarls. Laat is the only one who doesn't directly work there but just wanders round and causes problems. Technically they're a customer but no one has seen them buy anything. There's an absolute shitfest of drama brewing because the new money local Ulfric is trying to buy up the shops and force a monopoly. The previous fading trading Empire has been laying off a bunch of people as a result and there's a lot of discontent. Naturally, this will result in near total lawlessness Purge Style when people get fucking pissed off and rise up because property is worth more than human lives and fuck trading one king for another 😌

A brief explanation on all of your AUs
I-dude-fam- that's, that's a lot of AUs. So, so many AUs. I'm currently planning on making a massive text post for just my eternatus centric AUs. Do you want crossover ideas too??? You know what, I'll just start throwing AUs out here and if you want crossover concepts as well you can tell me. Buckle up, it's long post time.
Legend of zelda. Set in the downfall timeline, focusing on the hero of time. After being defeated, the goddesses bannish his soul to termina expecting his soul to be destroyed by majora. They didn't expect for him to not only defeat majora, but also absorb both majora's and the fierce deities essence. Now Link has crawled his way out of termina and has 3 things on his mind: tormenting ganon, killing ganon, and then picking a fight with the goddesses. Everyone is terrified.
Another one about majora's mask; majora is actually the goddesses of time, who has been driven mad by a curse.
Loftwings are still around post skyward sword. (I like loft wings, ok?)
Fandom: Loz. Setting: unspecific era. When link is born a shadow link manifests at the same time. The two view eachother as brothers. Through a series of events the two get adopted by a nice lade and are happy for many years. Events Happen^tm, Shadow's memories are wiped, Link is nowhere to be found, and somhow shadow has the triforce of courage. He doesn't know this. All he has from his past a a locket he can't open. He ends up living in the forest near where the master sword is. Shadow meets a young princess zelda, they become friends, one day zelda gets attacked by a boss monster, shadow draws the master sword to defend zelda. Now shadow is being forced to save the kingdom. Oh, btw shadow is a shy flustered mess and Fi is back.
I have been on the "fierce diety is a good dad" team since the first time I saw him, so you bet I have a gazilion AU ideas that all boil down to FD adopting link.
Speaking of fierce deity, AU where fierce gets revived in botw hyrule pre the calamity. He doesn't remember anything and takes of mercenary work. He's just a chill teen with a big magic sword who can casually kill boss monsters. Hyjinx insues.
Zonai fierce diety????
That one idea that started out a a plausible theory but then spiraled out of control into AU territory. No I'm not explaining that here, that would take way too much time. What I will say it the goddesses are evil and demise, majora, and the fierce deity were once a single godess that got shattered.
2 player botw. This was inspired by something I did with friends and will someday make a post about. When link wakes up in the shrine of resurrection, there's someone else in his head. That someone is majora. Both have lost their memories. Two chaos gremlins in one body, hyrule is not prepared for what is to come. Majora acts as Link's guide, as despite losing all of their memories Majora still has the extensive knowledge of a god. Also majora is dead set on restarting the post office in hyrule.
Botw au: the chosen hero is a shadow link. He is here to help zelda unlock her powers, be snarky, and vibe check both the calamity and the king.
Alright that's enough loz AUs, lets do other fandoms.
Detroit become human: connor is an android dog, was built much earlier, and saved Cole's life.
Skyrim: miraak was freed from Mora by a bigger scarier unidentified god. Said god gives miraak one order: protect the last dragon born.
Harry potter: through a series of events, Malfoy actually becomes friends with Harry, and both Snape and the Weasley family are petitioning to adopt Harry. (Seriously, what was Dumbledore thinking when he left harry with the dursley family???)
A few Pokemon AUs:
Due to a miscalculation and misunderstanding, team rainbow rocket abducts the galar champion thinking they are the villain of the region. The champion decides to role with it, plotting to destroy team rainbow rocket from the inside out.
Opal is actually a legendary pokemon who got turned into a human. Thus why she is an absolute cryptid.
Some traner/champion manages to find all of the legendaries/mythical pokemon that exist due to evil scientists and adopts ALL OF THEM (ie mewtwo, genesect, type:null, ect)
This list could go on and on, but I'm going to stop myself here.

Hey guys remember my Skyrim-ESO-Oblivion-Morrowind character Aghella who us always the same character through ages thanks to time paradoxes and Elder Scroll time travel who was a teen during Morrowind and a young adult during Oblivion, got kidnappes and sacrificed to Molag Bal in Oblivion and resurrected centuries earlier on Bleakrock Isle due to Time Paradoxes and that Oblivion is a timeless place and has people of all ages coming, and then found an Elder Scroll and wished to return to her time period with it but went to far and found herself on Skyrim caught on the border and found out she was destined to be Dragonborn and ended up liking it here and stayed there getting married and adopting 6 kids and making a lot of friends while remaining Neutral AF on that war ?
Well I thought of 3 AUs. 3 AUs about what if she never did all these time travels and forever remained in Oblivion. The Dragonborb Prophecy still needed to happen and Akatosh would still need someone to beat Alduin. So seeing that nobody came to free her or freed someone else in Oblivion, Akatosh sighed and planned "welp guess I'll have to put a Dragon Soul in someone else when the time has come. Ugh when I think I planned for her a legendary journey" angrily tears into shrieds the tapestry of her fate
So there would come 3 Alternate realities I had thought of but not enough yet for more details, 3 depending of whose ancestor could have lived after the events of ESO, from 3 different outcomes, if Aghella forever stayed in Oblivion
AU in which the Ebonheart Pact still won/had an advantage, just not with Aghella but with someone from their time period : the Dragonborn descendant would be a Dark Elf named Ipora, siding with the Stormcloaks (ironic...) and overly onto laws (like Destroying the Thieves Guild, killing Skooma sellers etc) while also being super friendly with a friend aura a few can resist (befriending both Paarthurnax and Delphine, actually marrying Miraak...), hates some Daedras but naively trusts some
AU in which the Daggerfall Covenant won/had an advantage : the Dragonborn descendant would be an orc named Crushes-the-Stars (he was raised by Argonians), siding with the Empire but really only dor becoming High King and kicking the Thalmor and become a dictator, and very unscrupulous, greedy, abusive even to his family (submitted his husband too much and has a lot of lovers and other side spouses, and adopts kids he raises only by using their anger and fueling it and encouraging it like Braith, Aventus... so they could be obeying emotionless soldiers), cunning, manipulative, born naturally evil, loves to steal, torture and kill, wants yo submit everyone to him so kills Paarthutnax to show he is stronger than dragons, Greybeards and dragon priests and have a Blades Army like the Emperor (he already sees himself as such), obeys all the Daedras like a bootlicker hoping they would all fight for him in the end and then kill themselves and he would be above all of them
AU in which the Aldmeri Dominion won/had an advantage : the Dragonborn descendant would be a high elf named ???, siding with the Thalmor as a big patriot ; he is the most recent one so I didn't think of more for him yet
Once I will be done with Aghella's game, I will do one of these 3 and so on

Fictober Day 19: Death
A/N:  Okay so I really wanted to write this scene since I have since changed my plans for the later fics so this is 10000000% au where Cara is the high queen of skyrim (its a long story come bug me about it in my ask box if you'd like) but i enjoyed this idea so much i figured i'd put it here!
Cara placed the Jagged Crown on her brow, the weight of it, making what was about to happen seem that much more permanent. She felt Miraak at her side.
“You do not have to do this, I know you do not want to.”
“I know your thoughts on the matter.”
“That does not mean that you have to do this.”
“He tried to kill me, if I let him live, who am I? Certainly not a queen. Not one that can lead her people anyway.”
Miraak gently grabbed her jaw to have her look at him, his eyes worried. “You have a gentle heart, dii lovaas. We all know this, no one can fault you for staying your hand.”
“It’s because I have a gentle heart they don’t take me seriously. It will break my heart, but,” she paused, stepping away from him, squaring her shoulders and raising her chin. “This is something that must be done.”
She left the tent without another word, and Miraak followed.
The wind whipped at their robes, the camp silent as Cara, Miraak, and their honor guard walked through the cliffside camp.
A large crowd had gathered, some of the Jarls that had ridden south with them to fight the Thalmor, some lords and knights of the Empire.
Cara’s gaze snapped to that of her mother, her sister, and two brothers.
“Carawen, please I’m begging you, please pardon him.” Her mother implored, fighting the grip of two of the honor guards that were holding her back.
“Please, escort them out of here,” she adverted her gaze from her family. “They don’t need to see this.”
“You traitorous bitch.” Her older brother, Koredil swore, spitting on the ground at her feet.
“King Voriiel will put your head on a pike for this.” Nelaril added.
Cara stared at her brothers, sadness in her eyes. “I know you will never forgive me, but I’m sorry.”
Her sister was crying into their mother’s shoulder, but the guards took them away as she had asked.
Cara brought her gaze to the man kneeling in the center of the circle that had formed.
“Lord Falnar Direnni. You stand accused of attempted murder, and attempted assassination of the High Queen of Skyrim. How do you plead?”
The Altmer in front of her stared at her, venom in his blue-purple eyes. “I only regret that I didn’t throw you to the sea when you were a child, graxifalas hulkynd. You’ve been a disgrace since your mother birthed you.”
“Before I sentence you, father, I would speak for myself for once, not as Queen, but as your daughter.”
“You are no daughter of mine.”
Cara smiled. “You have said that all my life, but my imperfection comes from you, your bloodline. For years I thought, like a stupid child perhaps one day we could reconcile. But now I know that would never be the case.” She paused, letting her words sink in. “You are right, though. You are not my father, not really. I share your blood, but you do not share mine. Auri-El gave me my soul, Mara blessed it. I am the Last Dragonborn, I am of the Dragonblood, and that still doesn’t matter. All that matters is, I became the very thing you didn’t want me to be. And that is enough for me.”
The elf shook his head. “I pray for the day you die, even if it is not by my hand.”
Cara let out a deep breath. “Lord Falnar Direnni, I, Carawen Direnni, Arch Mage of the College of Winterhold, Stormcrown, Laat Dovahkiin, and High Queen of Skyrim, sentence you to die for your crimes against Skyrim and her people.”
“You won’t do it. You’re weak.”
“May the gods have mercy on you, father.”
“MUL QAH DIIV!”
Cara’s spectral dragon form settled over her shoulders, a blanket of black, gold and violet shimmering against her robes. Regal horns formed and fanned out from her brow, great transparent black wings settling on her back.
A realization settled over the old elf’s features as she took several steps towards him. “It wasn’t a lie, you really are-“
“Dovahkiin, geh, bormah.” Her Voice made the sky rumble.
Cara saw the fear in his eyes .“I’m sorry it has to end this way.” she murmured, no one but perhaps Miraak understanding her through the rumble of the sky.
“KRII LUN AUS!”
Her Voice rang out into the night, and Falnar slumped over into the dirt without a sound.

okay but i’m obsessed with this concept so have this highly specific au featuring @skyrimlesbian‘s rasara
hermaeus mora as king triton except Horrid.
aldra, pining after the pirate queen? it’s more likely than you think
miraak as ursula. that is all.
miraak belting poOOOOR UNFORTUNATE SOOOOOULS
aldra gets fished out of the sea by rasara’s crew after miraak turns them mortal
they have three days to make rasara fall for them, or else miraak keeps their voice (and more importantly, their demi-godhood)
hijinks ensue
aldra, who has no idea how mortals work, staring at a parrot: Ah Yes, This Must Be The ‘Dogs’ I’ve Heard So Much About
‘kiss the mer’ instead of kiss the girl
featuring jak as sebastion except he actually supports his sibling
MARTIN AND JAK AS BEAUTY AND THE BEAST BUT THAT’S A WHOLE DIFFERENT THING. BUT LIKE URIEL AS MARTIN’S RATHER ODD DAD AND SELFLESS MARTIN WHO GIVES HIMSELF  UP TO SAVE HIS FATHER, AND ELDRITCH MONSTER JAK LEARNING TO LOVE --
ANYWAYS.
armel as flounder
rasara starts, gods forbid, getting attached to this weird voiceless altmer she found
lots of Pining on both ends but Lowkey
they end up falling in love by the third day and narrowly avoiding the third sunset
thanks for coming to my tedtalk
(imagine for a moment, flounder killing ursula. with mel, that’s the situation we have)

Ok ok ok ok, so I just finished rereading Dragon Kin and I am,,,,, in love!!! You included so much foreshadowing and nuance and going back and rereading again after having read Asylum and knowing a lot more about Young Ones and what happened to Ysmir in childhood I love it even more!!!!! And I am so curious where this story would go from where you left off with Jyggalag and the Amulet of Kings bc I,,,, really need Miraak and Ysmir facing down the Elder Council. I NEED IT. Anyway thank you.
This made my day, you have no idea. :D Jyggy has big plans, both in Asylum and Dragon Kin, and part of that is having a Dragonborn on the Ruby Throne again. Whether Ysmir takes her place on it like her father did in the Asylum AU is still up for debate.
It means so much to hear people are still reading Dragon Kin, thank you!

wishlist
Storyline involving conflict with Delphine over Paarthurnax’s fate. (Because let’s face it, none of us like how Delphine treats the LDB like her little puppet).
Storyline with General Tullius, regarding the threat of a second Great War.
AU storyline with Ulfric Stormcloak (my character is still with the Legion, but he wants to have a discussion with Ulfric over Skyrim’s strength and maybe work something out that benefits EVERYBODY, without involving the death of Ulfric or General Tullius.)
Exploration of the “Tiber Septim reincarnation arc”.
Werewolf shenanigans!
Early “I’m the Dragonborn, I guess” stuff.
“I’m the damn Dragonborn. Deal with it!” stuff.
Dragonborn --> HIGH KING OF SKYRIM???!?!!!?
GREYBEARDS! GREYBEARDS! GREYBEARDS!
Dragonborn stuff with Miraak. Because the Divines are weird, and so are the Daedric Princes.
Crossover/AU things with LOTR + GOT characters.
ALL THE THINGS.
