Cane Hill Debut Devilish New Video For “God Is The Enemy”

Rounding out their impressive three-track Krewe De La Mort collection, New Orleans noisemakers Cane Hill have just unleashed their killer new single “God Is The Enemy.”

Elaborating on the punishing new track which follows previous releases “Power Of The High” and “Kill Me,” vocalist Elijah Witt states, “‘God Is The Enemy’ is an honest comment on contemporary Christians and their skewed views of living Christ-like. From the hypocrisy of the church shielding its abusive history (and their present), to the blatant racism & control of women's bodily autonomy using the bible as a scapegoat -- it's obvious that the followers of Christ have gone astray.” 

Witt adds, “‘GITE’ implores you to imagine how the religious world would react if someone claimed to be the son of God again.”

NEW MUSIC:

After releasing their latest single “That Won’t Save Us,” Against the Current dropped an acoustic version of the track. The video was directed by Jade Ehlers, who also photographed the single’s cover artwork.

Enter Shikari released a new music video for their song “T. I. N. A”., which comes off of their latest album Nothing is True and Everything is Possible. The music video was directed by Matthew Taylor.

Good Charlotte released their first new music in two years, an emotional song titled “Last December.” Their last music was released in 2018 in the form of Generation Rx.

Cane Hill released their second song since becoming an independent band, titled “Kill Me.” The track follows their previous single “Power of the High,” both of which will be featured on what is presumed to be a new album called Krewe de la Morte.

Beartooth released a remixed and remastered version of their second album Aggressive. After selling out on vinyl almost instantly, the new version was officially uploaded to streaming services.

Mayday Parade released a new Christmas song, titled “I'm With You.” The band went on to perform the song live from the Decatur City Church in Georgia.

After releasing their album Sudden Sky last year, Crown the Empire debuted a new music video for their song “Red Pills.” The band recently put out another visual for the song “Blurry (Out of Place).”

The Maine’s John O'Callaghan released a new song under his solo project John the Ghost. The song, titled “Live Once,” follows the previous single “Rolled Down Window,” which was released earlier this year.

TOUR ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Jimmy Eat World announced a new concert series, where they will be playing numerous albums in full, titled “The Phoenix Sessions.” The band will be performing their albums Surviving, Futures and Clarity.

“A Bowie Celebration: Just for One Day!” was recently announced, organized by the late singer’s longtime pianist Mike Garson. The lineup features The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan, Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale, Jane's Addiction’s Perry Farrell and Yungblud.

After performing a livestream of their debut album White Noise in full, PVRIS announced they will be playing their second album in full on January 9, 2021. The album, All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell, was first released in 2017.

To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their album Hold Me Down, You Me at Six will be performing two special live events. The shows will be held on July 6-7, 2021, at Pryzm in Kingston, England.

Lizzy Farrall performed a cover of The Beastie Boys’ classic hit “Sabotage” during her set at Five4Five Fest. The singer released her full-length debut album Bruise earlier this year via Pure Noise Records.

OTHER NEWS:

Waterparks released a new “pop-up event” educational video for their latest single “Lowkey as Hell.” The informative video is packed with random facts about the band.

After 178 days, Twenty One Pilots ended their never-ending video for their single “Level of Concern.” The video in question recently set the Guinness World Record for the longest music video of all time.

The Teenage Cancer Trust revealed details of a special Christmas raffle. The Christmas Rocks giveaway features prizes donated by Bring Me the Horizon, Don Broco, Enter Shikari, Architects, Bullet for My Valentine and Twin Atlantic. 

I Don’t Know How but They Found Me reached the No. 1 spot on the U.S. Alternative Radio chart. Their song “Leave Me Alone” knocked All Time Low’s “Monsters” off the top spot, which they held for several weeks.

- Tabernak! Nous voici de retour avec un nouvel épisode “On a rencontré”, on le sait, ça vous a manqué, tout autant que nous ! Une partie de notre krew a monté la tente à Montréal, chez les cousins, et il faut dire que la scène électro n’est pas des moindre. Avec un peu plus de 30 clubs à son actif, des événements en-veux-tu en-voilà et une invasion de festivals en tout genre l’été, Montréal est une ville qui bouge, et qui fait les choses bien. Cerise sur le gâteau, nous avons retrouvé sur place nos confrères du label Kizi Garden Records qui ont eu l’occasion de booker notre père spirituel à tous, S3A, ancien résident de la Concrete et grand adepte de la house, french touch oblige. En passant par Philip Glass, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Chez Damier et même France Gall, l’artiste nous dévoile ses inspirations... et sa vision sur le monde musical d’aujourd’hui.

Le Disquaire : Salut S3A, bienvenue à Montréal! Comment tu te sens?

S3A : Bonsoir ! Il neige dehors, -14°C c’est la fête ! 

LD : On t’avait prévenu, le Québéc hivernal c’est une autre paire de manche! Tu nous disais que ce n’était pas la première fois que tu venais outre-atlantique? 

S3A : Ouais, non, j’étais venu à la Bacchanale, on avait fait Salon Daomé aussi, ça s’était super bien passé, on avait passé une très belle soirée. J’étais pas prévu pour passer autant de temps mais, au final, j’ai joué presque toute la soirée. C’était vraiment un bon souvenir, le club était cool, les gens super sympa : expérience au top.

LD : Excellent. Tu sentais les gens réceptifs? 

S3A : Absolument, j’ai pas eu longtemps à me chercher si tu veux. Il y a des endroits où tu as plus besoin de chercher les gens, jauger le public, tenter des choses, mais à Montréal c’était assez naturel, super agréable. 

LD : La scène se développe de plus en plus ici, ça se sent. On va faire un petit flashback, d’où te vient cet amour pour la musique? 

S3A : Mon père je pense. J’ai été élevé dans le rock progressif, jazz, rhythm & blues - le “vrai” R&B je veux dire, pas le récent que nous avons aujourd’hui. Puis après j’ai croisé mon truc directement dans les 90′s avec la techno à l’époque et plus particulièrement la rave anglaise. C’était une musique décérébrée, festive, exactement ce que je voulais. J’avais 13 ans, et j’avais besoin de me défouler. C’est un truc qui m’allait très très bien à l’époque - et qui me va toujours d’ailleurs. 

LD : D’où te vient ce nom de scène, S3A (Sampling As An Art)?

S3A : De Marc Leclerc, alias Akufen, un mec qui compte beaucoup pour moi en terme de musique. Un jour, je suis allé le voir au nouveau Casino à Paris, ça devait être en 2002. Et je me rappelle, il avait un t-shirt orange avec marqué en blanc “Art of Sampling”. Et moi j’ai toujours aimé les comparaisons à l’anglaise “As Something...”. Du coup, je l’ai adopté en créant l’acronyme S3A, c’est resté depuis, ça me correspond assez bien. 

LD : Une belle histoire plutôt originale. Côté inspiration, quel est ton secret? As-tu des mimiques particulières quand tu dig des pépites? 

S3A : Alors, ouais. Quand j’ai commencé le projet, je prenais tout ce qui était funk des années 74-79 et le rythmique comme la disco entre 79 et 82. Après, au fur et à mesure, le son change, il devient numérique et c’est moins authentique. C’est pas du tout la même vibe, j’aime moins, et je préfère conserver cet aspect authentique. 

LD : J’ai vu que tu avais fait un edit de France Gall, tu es un amateur de pop française 80′s? 

S3A : L’edit de France Gall c’était un peu spécial. J’ai fait ça au Sucre pour Radio Nova, j’étais content de la faire. A la mort de France Gall, je me suis dit “c’est quand même bête, j’ai toujours dit que j’aimais bien ce qu’il faisait Berger” (Michel de son prénom, nldr). J’ai réécouté Starmania avec Besoin d’Amour et, pour moi, elle manquait de patate. Je l’ai travaillé super rapidement, en 2 heures à l’hôtel, sans analogique comme je fais d’habitude. Le but était de le passer le soir même, ça aurait le mérite d’être retravaillé mais je suis content de l’avoir fait.  J’aime beaucoup ce qu’écrivait Berger en général. Quand tu regardes ce qu’il pouvait produire en 3 semaines... Pour moi c’était une façon de lui rendre hommage.

LD : Bien joué, ça rend super bien, et on a vu les foules s’extasier au Sucre ! Qu’est-ce qu’on peut trouver dans ta collection de vinyles?

S3A : Vraiment plein de choses ! J’apprécie beaucoup le rock progressif, le jazz, un peu de musique brésilienne et le reste de la house, un peu quand même ! (rires) Par contre, je n’ai pas un disque tant que je ne l’ai pas en vinyl. Tout ce que j’ai en vinyl, je me numérise presque directement une fois à la maison.  Pour reparler de ma collec’, je suis pas super spécialisé. Aujourd’hui, je trouve qu’être spécialisé, c’est perdre du temps. La vie est trop plurielle, il y a trop de belles choses à choper à droite à gauche pour uniquement se confiner dans un style. Tu peux pas juste aimer la bière blonde, je ne suis pas comme ces DJ monostyles et hyper spécialisés. J’ai besoin de jouer autre chose. 

LD : Un vrai puriste, c’est ce qu’on aime. Quel type de son aurais-tu aimé produire?

S3A : Que j’aurais aimé produire? Raw Cuts 6, de MCDE, dans son premier album. Ca m’a foutu le feu. C’est le genre de son qui a contribué à la naissance de S3A. Il y a eu un espèce de combo entre l’EP de MCDE et un dîner avec Chez Damier, qui voyait bien que j’étais en train de marmonner mon truc et que j’arrivais pas à avancer. Je voulais un truc en plus, un autre projet, puis il m’a dit “Don’t try to be the red point for the red room. Be the white point in the white room. Be a different point by yourself.” 

LD : Quel est ton son du moment? Tu nous parlais de rock à l’ancienne, est-ce que tu restes authentique ou tu surfes plutôt sur la nouvelle vague? 

S3A : Je vais avoir besoin de plusieurs secondes... Après il y a ce que je peux mettre sur un dancefloor, et ce que je peux mettre en soirée, qui sont pour moi deux choses bien différentes. Je peux pas me permettre les mêmes choses, à moins d’avoir les gens vraiment dans la poche, mais c’est infaisable sur 2 heures de set - ça sera plutôt sur 3 ou 4 heures.  Alors, je vais te parler de Marc Leclerc, avec Akufen ou Horror Inc, c’est un artiste que j’ai souvent dans les oreilles. Le bon juste mélange entre notes et musique électronique, c’est même ce que je recherche à faire avec S3A, et mon album sera comme ça.

🎙“TU PEUX PAS JUSTE AIMER LA BIERE BLONDE, IL Y A TELLEMENT D’AUTRES CHOIX. JE NE SUIS PAS COMME CES DJ MONOSTYLES ET HYPER SPECIALISES.” S3A

LD : Sur le même sujet, tu te sens inspiré par Philip Glass, étant donné que tu es un grand fan?

S3A : Ah bah oui, je suis ultra ouf de ce mec. Tout a commencé en 1993 lorsque j’ai entendu la musique du film Candyman, dont Philip Glass avait fait la BO. On était en famille, et les quelques notes de piano m’ont absolument transporté. Ca m’a particulièrement touché, je ne comprenais pas pourquoi j’avais autant aimé ce film là. Et un autre jour, j’entends une autre musique dans un autre film, c’était le Truman Show, la musique de fin. Et là, je me dis “c’est marrant, ça y ressemble”. J’ai ensuite fait le lien et je me suis bouffé tous ce qu’il a pu produire, des BO aux opéras. Ca m’a vraiment pété à la tronche lorsque Aphex Twin a fait le remix de Philip Glass et je me suis dit “bah voilà, comme quoi, j’étais pas fou!”. Je suis un grand fan de musique d’ambiance, de film. Ca tire sur les cordes sentimentales et les émotions musicales, c’est du génie. 

🎙“JE SUIS PAS UN GROS DIGGER, LE GENRE DE MEC A PASSER 8 HEURES POUR UN VINYL. SI C’EST RESTÉ DANS LES BACS, C’EST QU’IL Y A UNE RAISON AUSSI. C’EST PAS PARCE QUE LE MORCEAU EST RARE QUE C’EST FORCÉMENT BIEN.” S3A

LD : Super cool. Et la suite de tes projets? En commençant par une date à Montréal demain?  

S3A : Yes, date à Montréal demain avec l’équipe de Kizi Garden. Après il y a un Eureka (label japonais, nldr) qui va sortir bientôt. Un nouveau label appelé LionZoo orchestré par Paolo Valentino, puis un S3A Records qui va arriver. Quelques projets par an c’est bien, il ne faut pas en abuser. J’avais fait 6 projets en une année et c’était pas assez raréfié, pas qualitatif. J’essaie d’avoir un certain format quand je joue mais aussi d’être détaché. Si je veux faire un morceau à contre pied, je le ferai, pour sortir un peu du moule.

GOOD CHARLOTTE DEBUT SOMBER NEW SINGLE “LAST DECEMBER”

For the first time since 2018′s sensational LP Generation Rx, Good Charlotte has returned with brand new music. 

Written as a way to cope with the hard times as of late, guitarist Benji Madden says of the gloomy new single “Last December”: 

“2020 being the 20th anniversary of our self-titled debut album really made us feel like we wanted to release something for those fans who’ve gone on this journey with us. The holidays can be a rough time of year - thinking of the ones we’ve lost and longing for moments that have passed us by is definitely a part of the joy and melancholy. For us, this song speaks to both sides of those holiday feelings and we hope it brings some solace to anyone who needs it.”

Great news AFI fans! Looking to follow up 2018′s five-track EP The Missing Man, Davey Havok and Co. have shared news regarding when you might hear some new music.  

Taking to their socials, the band collectively shared: “With the end of a year that has been, at best, challenging for all, we have news that we hope may bring you some joy. Very soon, new songs shall be yours. Before the year’s end, our 11th album will follow. We could not be more happy with our latest work and hope you will feel the same. As if a brand new Deftones album and 20th anniversary version of White Pony wasn’t enough, Chino Moreno concluded his 2020 with a brand new release from his thought-to-be-dormant project ††† (Crosses).

The song, which is a cover of Cause & Effect’s 1990 track “The Beginning Of The End,” is Moreno and guitarist Shaun Lopez’s first offering since their 2014 self-titled record.

FOO FIGHTERS DEBUT SECOND NEW SINGLE “NO SON OF MINE”

Continuing their promotional push for their forthcoming tenth studio album Medicine At Midnight, Foo Fighters have released their second new single. 

Titled “No Son Of Mine” (and no, not an Every Time I Die cover), the latest from the hard rock staples leans much more on the louder side than their previous single “Shame Shame.”

FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE GO “BLUE” FOR NEW EIFEL 65 COVER

It’s not everyday you hear an Italian symphonic death metal band cover an Italian techno group but here we are.

Ending their 2020 on a colorful note, noisemakers Fleshgod Apocalypse released a stirring rendition of the 1998 hit “Blue (Da Ba Dee)” -- yes, you read that correctly.   

Commenting on the mind-bending cover, frontman Francesco Paoli said, “After the amazing response over our latest single ‘No’ we wanted to release something that could make the end of this shitty 2020 a bit funnier for everyone. That’s why we took a popular dance track from the 90s and made it the heaviest, angriest, bloodiest party song ever.” 

“We’re ready to blast your ears again in 2021,” Paoli noted, “stay tuned!”

AS IT IS DRUMMER AND FUTURE FIREMAN PATRICK FOLEY DEPARTS FROM THE BAND

Bummer news As It Is fans: Founding drummer Patrick Foley has decided to step away from the band to take on a new heroic role as a firefighter. 

The band took to their socials to share: “Our brother and friend Foley has decided to step back from As It Is, to pursue a brand new career as a fire fighter. We could not be more proud of him (and are keeping him on speed dial for when we next use pyro in a live show). All love, Patty, Ali, Ronnie x”

CANE HILL DEBUT DEVASTATING NEW SINGLE “KILL ME”

2021 is shaping up to be a busy year for Cane Hill. Continuing to churn out head-pounding singles, the New Orleans act recently released their blistering new track “Kill Me.”  

Vocalist Elijah Witt commented on the song saying: "I think if this year [2020] has taught me anything, it's that this dreadful voice of negativity in my head is loudest when my life is quiet. Just like everyone else, my mental health has taken a steep decline this year, and giving life to that horrific voice was the easiest way for me to try and combat it. ‘Kill Me’ is what I feel in the parts of me I can ignore when life is normal.” Witt adds, “‘Kill Me’ adds another chapter to ‘Krewe De La Mort’ that continues to bring Louisiana folklore to life. Building upon the visual intensity we established with ‘P.O.T.H.,’ we worked closely with Dreamseeker Productions in further exploring elements of witchcraft and the occult while staying true to these Cajun tales.”

Geralt de Riv est un personnage étrange, une bizarrerie de la nature, un mutant qui, grâce à la magie et à un long entraînement, mais aussi grâce à un mystérieux élixir, est devenu un meurtrier parfait. Ses cheveux blancs, ses yeux nyctalopes et son manteau noir effrayent et fascinent. Il parcourt des contrées pittoresques en gagnant sa vie comme chasseur de monstres. En ces temps obscurs, ogres, goules et vampires pullulent, et les magiciens sont des manipulateurs experts. Contre ces menaces, il faut un tueur à gages à la hauteur. Car Geralt est plus qu’un guerrier ou un mage. C’est un Sorceleur. Il est unique.

tome 1 • Le Dernier Vœu (Ostatnie życzenie) (1993) • 4/5

Un recueil de nouvelles avec un fil conducteur qui traverse des thèmes qui me tiennent à cœur : le fameux homo homini lupus, la rivalité entre hommes et monstres, la solitude, la stérilité… Dans un contexte de Dark Fantasy, Sapkowski explore des problématiques qui nous parlent. De plus, Geralt est intéressant et son évolution le sera aussi, aux côtés de la magnifique Yennefer. J'adore !

tome 2 • L'Épée de la providence (Miecz przeznaczenia) (1992) • 5/5

Déjà que j'adorais le couple particulier formé par la sorcière Yennefer et le sorceleur Geralt (tous deux passionnels mais déchirés par la fierté), un petit bout de chou vient s'ajouter et voler mon cœur : la petite Ciri ! On sent que Sapkowski a installé son univers et va pouvoir passer aux romans, narrant l'histoire de cette famille tiraillée (et que j'ai hâte de suivre).

tome 3 • Le Sang des elfes (Krew elfów) (1994) • 3/5

Un tome qui sert de transition et qui manque de souffle par rapport aux deux recueils de nouvelles, mais au moins, l'histoire est lancée pour quatre autres tomes qui promettent de nombreuses péripéties, et elles seront riches en émotions.

tome 4 • Le Temps du mépris (Czas pogardy) (1995) • 4/5

De gros rebondissements dans Le Temps du Mépris : des révélations viennent mais uniquement pour motiver le lecteur à poursuivre sa lecture, juste pour espérer que Ciri, Yennefer et Geralt seront enfin réunis. Les Weasley peuvent aller se rhabiller : j'ai trouvé ma famille littéraire préférée ? Il y a un contexte politique qui peut rebuter un peu, mais rien d’insurmontable.

tome 5 • Le Baptême du feu (Chrzest ognia) (1997) • 5/5

Des changements relancent le rythme de lecture : de nouveaux personnages (Angoulême et Regis sont formidables), des nouvelles situations… On délaisse la politique et on revient aux sources de la saga : la question des monstres parmi les hommes. Bref, je ne m'en lasse pas !

tome 6 • La Tour de l'hirondelle (Wieża Jaskółki) (1993) • 3/5

La conclusion est amorcée : il y a quelques temps morts, l'enchaînement que propose Sapkowski est assez perturbante, mais à la fin de la lecture, tout devient clair (un tome du Sorceleur ne se lit pas avec des pauses de plusieurs semaines, sinon le fil est perdu !). Enfin bon, j'avais pas envie de ça se termine, moi...

tome 7 • La Dame du lac (Pani Jeziora) (1999) • 3/5

Une conclusion un peu en demi-teinte : elle est très curieuse, et plus j'y réfléchis, plus j'y vois des qualités, mais aussi des défauts. Ciri est une adolescente avec tant de pouvoirs secrets qu'on ignore si la fin de cette famille peut se comprendre vraiment. Happy ending ou fin tragique ? Le lecteur décide par lui-même. Heureusement qu'il y a le tome bonus et les jeux, car cette saga est géniale !

tome HS1 (0.5) • La Saison des orages (Sezon burz) (2013) • 5/5

Ce tome qui se place entre les deux recueils de nouvelles permet de continuer la saga pour ceux qui, comme moi, réclament toujours plus d'histoires du Sorceleur. Et je dois dire que ce spin-off est un coup de cœur ! Nouvelles créatures, l'amour suggéré entre Yennefer et Geralt, aventures inédites… Et une conclusion que j'ai préférée par rapport à celle de la saga : bien plus émouvante.

The Offspring announced their first album in nine years, titled Let the Bad Times Roll. The new LP is scheduled to be released on April 16 via Concord Records.

AFI announced the details of their new album titled Bodies. The record will be released on June 11 via Rise Records and will feature the track “Looking Tragic,” which they dropped soon after the announcement.

After days of teasing online, WSTR released a brand new single entitled “All the Rage.” The song marks the band’s first new music since the single “Filthy” back in 2019.

I Don’t Know How but They Found Me released a cover of the classic Beck hit “Debra.” The cover marks their first new music since their debut album Razzmatazz dropped back in October of last year.

Cane Hill returned with the third and final piece of their Krewe de la Mort collection titled “God is the Enemy.” The song follows their previous tracks “Kill Me” and “Power of the High.”

Tilian, the moniker of Dance Gavin Dance frontman Tilian Pearson, released a new song titled “Anthem.” The song follows on his previous single “Dose,” which was released last month.

Waterparks revealed some of the details of their new album titled Greatest Hits. The album is scheduled for release on May 21 via 300 Entertainment, and will feature their recent singles “Lowkey as Hell” and “Snow Globe.”

Doll Skin released a brand new track, their first as a two-piece, titled “Control Freak.” It follows the announcement of former members Nicole Rich and Alex Snowden’s departure from the band in December 2020.

TOUR ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Slam Dunk Festival announced it will now be taking place in September, after being previously scheduled for May 29 and 30. The first of the two dates will take place in Leeds on September 4 and the latter in Hatfield, England, on September 5.

Enter Shikari released a new performance video of their song “Warm Smiles Do Not Make You Welcome Here,” recorded from home. The song originally comes off of their album A Flash Flood of Colour.

Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance revealed he will take part in “Unwound and Unplugged,” an online concert and panel focusing on mental health and wellness. The event will be taking place on March 2 on the Sound Mind social pages.

Reading and Leeds Festival confirmed that this year's events are still set to take place as planned. The event will feature performances by YUNGBLUD, Neck Deep, Hot Milk, FEVER 333, Nova Twins, Queens of the Stone Age and more.

I Don’t Know How but They Found Me performed their hit track “Leave Me Alone” on Ellen last Tuesday. The duo previously performed the track on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

2000 Trees Festival released a statement revealing that this year's festival will still be going ahead as planned. As of now, the festival is set to be headlined by Jimmy Eat World and Thrice.

Creeper revealed that their previously scheduled “Sex, Death and the Infinite Void UK Tour” has been postponed until the end of the year. The tour will now begin in London on December 15 and end in Leeds on December 21.

Download Festival confirmed that this year's event will no longer be taking place. They then confirmed new dates that will be taking place in 2022 with KISS, Iron Maiden and Biffy Clyro headlining.

Bring Me the Horizon's track “Mantra” was certified Silver in the United Kingdom. The track appears on the band's last full-length record Amo, which itself hit Gold certification at the start of the year.

Machine Gun Kelly’s song “My Ex’s Best Friend,” which features Blackbear, was certified Silver in the United Kingdom. The song marks his first certification since “Rap Devil” hit Silver back in September 2020.

“All My Favourite Songs,” the opening track on Weezer's recently released album OK Human, crept into the No. 9 spot on Alternative Radio. The song surpassed Foo Fighters' most recent single “Waiting on a War.”
