Yeah and at one point Dean gets told by a werewolf dentist that he has a shit ton of cavities because he’s no longer God’s special princess and he needs to be put under to get them all fixed so he has a vivid anesthesia dream where he’s doing a tap number and…hey where are you going? I haven’t even gotten to the part about the speculated symbolism of the lamp he’s dancing with!

It’s not a twist ending if there is no change or character development over 15 years, it’s just bad writing.

Dean used to think that if Garth was a werewolf, there was no hope for him, and he’d have to kill him. His idea of what is monstrous has evolved. It took until season 9 'Sharp Teeth,’ for Dean to start to accept Garth living in a happily domestic ‘deviant’ lifestyle, rather than think he literally had to kill him for what he was. The werewolves have always been a stand in for queerness, and like so many people in the 90s and 00s, it took realizing someone he cared for was one for Dean to accept that they aren’t all inherently evil.

When he sees Garth’s family again in ‘The Heroes’ Journey,’ Dean has finally made his confession prayer to Cas, has his drug induced lamp dance sequence, and is able to admit it to himself. If Garth can be a werewolf, and still have a happy family and that domestic apple pie life, then maybe Dean can want that too, even if his family won’t look like what he had imagined, even if he’s not straight.  

It was huge progress for Dean who always preached staying in the closet before, most explicitly in an episode appropriately titled, Patience.

How are you? All this has taken a toll on my mental and emotional stability, and I hope you’re doing well

thank you so much for asking! 

i can’t speak for the rest of the crew (most of them are asleep rn) but last i heard we were all doin a-okay. it can be overwhelming to get all of this information at once, but i’m lucky to have a group of great people to lighten the load. 

i’m really proud of our team. even when it gets stressful they dive right in and give everything their best shot. i couldn’t do this if i was the only person running this blog. there’s too much out there for one person to take in all on their own. (we’re actually looking to take on more staff members soon, keep your eyes peeled if that sounds like something you’d be interested in!)

we all need to take breaks from time to time, and i’m grateful for a team that can keep things running in the meantime. if you’re feeling overwhelmed by all of the stuff going on, the best thing i could recommend is stepping away from tumblr for a bit and taking time for yourself. make sure you’re staying grounded. we’ll be here when you get back to catch you up. 

thanks again for checking in. i’m really proud of what this blog’s become and i hope we can keep these good vibes up as we head further into the abyss of season 16 :)
