Watching old episode of John Oliver talk about Alaskan town having a bet on when a tri-pod on the melting ice falls to the river, and all I can think about is that someone needs to tell them about Finland's "how many people will drown this midsummer" bingo army surplus store does.
Finally finished this! ^u^ Made it to celebrate the premiere of season 11 of Last Week Tonight!!
Believe it or not, this was my first time drawing Mickey, so I'm very happy on how he turned out!
John's current hairdo took FOREVER to draw, even with using as many references as I could (and even then, it still kind of looks like he has bangs, but you know what? I don't mind. l miss when he had bangs anyhow.). Also, drew him in his outfit he wore at the Emmys because that outfit was fabulous.
Also, I know my shading might look a little wonky, I'm still figuring that out. I did try to cel shade, but it wasn't coming out quite like I had imagined. Something to focus on another time!
Here's to the next 3 years of Last Week Tonight!! ^u^
(Made in Clip Studio Paint! Constructive critiques are appreciated!)
I wanna know what the meeting with HBO's legal team was like before John Oliver's Elon Musk episode.
"So we're gonna get sued again?"
"Oh, most definitely"
"And harassed, and Elon Musk might try to buy HBO?"
"Yeah, probably"
"And we're doing it because...?"
"For some reason the same channel people subscribed to for uncensored dragon mommy bewbs is one of the last bastions of in depth, uncensored news about powerful people and organizations who cause harm"
*Sigh* "fine. But next season you don't get any new fursuits"
"Oh, come on business daddy, give the people what they want" *acts like an otter*
while I do not fully agree with or even particularly like how he covered this, I very much appreciate that he did cover it and talk about it. all the other late night hosts have been completely and disgustingly silent. now of course john oliver waits over a month to talk about it -- now that the public outrage and pressure for a ceasefire is so widespread -- he was silent as everyone else for the last month until he sensed that the backlash for continuing to not talk about what's happening in gaza would be greater than any potential backlash for actually talking about it. don't get me wrong, i'm not naive, i totally see how and why he waited and covered this topic the way he did. but you know what, i think him using his platform this way is overall a collective good. sure, he leaves a lot out and refuses to call it a genocide or say the words Free Palestine, but the way he talks about what's going on will undoubtedly convince at least some additional people to care about the crisis and maybe motivate them to take action to demand it end. while i despise his previous silence, at least now he is talking about it and using his platform for some good. and i do genuinely think this will maybe change the minds of at least a few people
right now john oliver is the only late night host with any moral decency and for whom i have even a scrap of respect.
Community movie reveals that “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” is actually just a social experiment created by Duncan to see how trusting Americans are of the british accent. It quickly got out of control and he now has no clue how to stop it (plus he likes all the praise and awards)
I know we all came here to get away from Reddit, but this is very important. https://reddit.com/r/Art/comments/14bdnd0/poll_decide_on_the_future_of_rart/
