Karen Babcock , it was a pleasure seeing you today and catching up from our amazing years at St. John Bosco Wilderness Camp days! Also going down memory lane with your love or infatuation with fish n chips on our 3 week public relations tour promtoting St John Bosco Camp, which i still don't get it:) Karen, a BIG congratulations on your recent appointment as Director, and in my opinion, Bosco has hit the royal jackpot with you at the stern. I can honestly say that you and Father Albert LeGatt have been 2 of the most positive influences in my life and I'm profoundly great full to have you and @Archbishop Albert Legatt as such a positive presence in my heart!
Much love and continued success, my friend

Truro region works through Fiona triumphs four days after storm
Days after post-tropical storm Fiona hit the region, trees continue to be hoisted out near Truro homes, and the areas high elevation appears to be the blame for the extensive damage.
"I was here for hurricane Juan and we didn’t have it quite this bad," says resident Matt Redmond.
Power crews have been equally as busy as the area suffered hundreds of snapped polls and several fallen lines.
Redmond says he is being realistic with restoration expectations.
"Yesterday we heard it would be Oct. 1 and today we’re hearing maybe this evening, but I’m not going to hold out hope for anything, if it comes it comes," says Redmond.
In Victoria Park, many popular hemlock trees have fallen down.
"People are asked not to come here, it’s dangerous. A significant shift and just a breeze can cause a tree to fall and there are trees leaning on other trees. We’re bringing in a professional logging company to do harvesting and deal with damage," says Mayor Bill Mills.
The local arena and high school also suffered damage due to Fiona.
"The Colchester Legion Stadium is closed indefinitely and as far as, Cobequid Education Center, which is one of the largest schools in the province, I don’t see that opening for the foreseeable future just because there’s no power, no polls, nothing," Mills says.
Mary Legatte operated a souvenir and gift shop in Glenholme, N.S., for nearly forty years. When the storm hit, it was gone in a matter of minutes.
"I’m actually quite shocked to see how it had fallen down with the two trees. I’ve got to think about it. I need time to think as to what to do, it was quite a shock to see the way it went down," Legatte says.
After almost falling off the roof of the former church in Great village, N.S. Friday, the steeple has been eased to the ground with hope of remounting.

Pope visit: Archbishop offers to pay for residential school survivors’ trip to Alberta
The Archdiocese of Saint Boniface is offering to take residential school survivors and representatives from First Nation communities in Manitoba to Alberta for the Pope’s visit this summer. Saint Boniface Archbishop Albert LeGatt confirmed he is extending invitations to the chief and council of seven communities where the Archdiocese has ministries – Poplar River, Berens River, Bloodvein, Little…

Rating: 4
Recommended for: high school students, parents/family of high school students
Genre: education, nonfiction
"Our stress and drive to achieve is not our fault. From the time we're small, we're taught that college is competitive, important and waaaaaay expensive. If we let them, the financial and emotional pressures can easily overwhelm us."
Dr. Aviva Legatt is a former UPenn Wharton admissions officer who writes a powerful narrative on what it's like to apply to college, the emotional and social pressures to achieve results, and more. Her background as a student in a high-achieving high school and applying as one of the "lackluster" students in comparison to her peers also adds insight to how the pressures of the college process have no indication on how well you will succeed later on in life.
Legatt also offers exercises in each part of the book to help the reader expand what commonly is a narrow-minded view of their future. Too often are students' futures dictated by their parents, and the author certainly proves an effort to allow the student to widen their horizons. She further provides case scenarios of various successful individuals throughout the past few decades (i.e. NYT author Adam Grant, her personal clients) as evidence on how they transformed their applications into the best representation of themselves-- remaining authentic to themselves on paper.
Despite all these great points, what I liked best out of everything in her book was the few pages she dedicated in selecting the perfect college. Where many students prioritize prestige, she offers insight on other aspects of higher education that often remain overlooked by applicants such as a college's culture/character, their strategic goals for the upcoming years, how they structure their curriculum, and more. These parts of the application process are important, and Dr. Legatt highlights them here clearly.

WARNING: This story contains distressing details.
The archbishop of Manitoba's St. Boniface Catholic diocese says he completely disavows statements made by a priest which included casting aspersions on the motives of Indigenous people who made residential school claims.
"I'm not just sorry, or regret, and I hope more and more people will come to that place," Archbishop Albert LeGatt said in a nearly 11-minute address posted to the diocese's Facebook page on Thursday.
LeGatt was responding to controversy which erupted Thursday after CBC News published comments made by Father Rhéal Forest during sermons over weeks of services at St. Emile Roman Catholic Church this summer.
The sermons were part of services live streamed and posted to St. Emile's Facebook page.
In one of them, Forest accused residential school survivors of lying about being sexually abused so they would receive more money during the settlement process with the federal government.
In another, Forest joked about shooting those who wrote graffiti on churches.
