One month : One Guitar . 🎸: Gibson Traditional Les Paul 2013, Nashville . Years ago, I was lucky enough to already had put my hands on many guitars, and own a nice numbers of toys, but most of them were kind of middle range stuff (the luthiers ’ones aside of course) and I never owned any emblematic historical “big brands” instruments. My lovely GF heard about it (how couldn't she...) and thought this would be the perfect collective 🎁 for my sweet 30's🎂. So here it was: I got a super nice voucher to spend on a guitar - which I wanted, at that moment, to be a Les Paul. Since we were in 2014, it was logic about getting the Standard LP of this year, but well.... I didn't want the phase/out of phase/split/full HB or the robot tuner. I didn't want either the Gibson 120th anniversary inlay on the 12th. What I wanted was a regular LP, not chambered, with 2 regular HB...And so my choice went logically toward a Traditional LP. There were not much choice in shops at that time, because they all moved to 2014 models - which I avoid. I found out a shop displaying 2 of the wished instruments - which I tried. One was the typical cherry or so burst flamed open book top while the other was plain top – which looked strange at the first glance. The plain top sounds the best, and to me, the Caramel Burst looked better too. And so it became mine (for less money than the “new” model of the year). So what can I say more? This is a LP made in Nashville: warm tone, heavy on shoulders, rounded 50’s neck, a pair of 57 Classic (Plus) pups, great with gain. In the effects loop, I have a Ibenez Soundtank PH5 Phaser, a Donner Yellow Tail delay. For destortion, I have 2 more Soundtanks, a CM5 ClassicMetal and a TM5 ThrashMetal pedals. For overdrive Ibanez Tube Screamer Mini. The distortion and overdrive pedals in front of the amp.
