it was insane—and i cannot stress this enough—insane!!!!!! the way my brain has flipped a switch and is now in full lokius mode after just one episode. they didn’t have to have mobius putting his hands all over loki they didn’t have to have loki say if i don’t make it back they didn’t have to have cute little banter scenes between them they didn’t have to have mobius risk his life to save loki they didn’t have to have mobius say give him more time when loki had just told him that all he wanted from sylvie was time no not at all

Thinking about my Tails canon. Thinking about how close me and Eggman were, how much I went over to his house for breakfast or lunch and talk about mechanics and science and sometimes how annoying Sonic could get... and how Sticks wasn't actually crazy, sometimes she just heard or saw something and thought it was something else.
Knuckles was pretty smart in my canon, and he always liked to watch me tinker with things and fix my robot dog. I forgot his name, but I know that he's in the comics. There were a lot of characters from the comics that lived in the area, like Honey the Cat. World-renowned singer, kinda like the Taylor Swift of Mobius.
Sonic and Shadow 100% were gay for each other, but they never confessed. Sometimes me and Eggman would plan an "attack", just to get them together in the same area. They'd get so mad and flustered, and Sonic would end up chewing me out on occasion, but seeing them together just brought me a sense of pride and joy for those two...
I miss my wife friends, man. I miss them a lot.

If you liked Young Royals because of the queer represantation, then I'm gonna list a few shows I've watched that have it (some more, some less), gonna list them and explain them a bit if you wanna give them a go!
SHOWS I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND
Don't look deeper, don't wanna spoil it too much, but yeah black bisexual lead and the story is just so freaking awasome!? Also a trans character played by a trans actor (my thoughts when I watched it) it's a short post tho lol
Tumblr media
New Amsterdam, has A LOT of representation and talks a lot about things that fucking matter, a lot of lgbtq+ characters in almost every episode (some main leads are part of the community too, but ngl the story has gone a bit down hill for me but still really great seasons) casey they did u so dirty i love u and miss u
Tumblr media
The Dragon Prince, IF THERE WAS A SHOW I WOULD RECOMMEND STRONGER THAN YOUNG ROYALS IS THIS BEAUTY, in s3 two out of the three couples that become canon are queer (mlm and wlw) and we see one of them have a very deep kiss and there's also a non binary character who uses they/them in s3. Overall the show is AMAZING, great characters, voice actors, story, animation, music,... Just give it a shot please honestly it's so. Fucking. Good. I was in aw with this show when watching it, just like Young Royals
Tumblr media
Teen Wolf, just rewatched it a few months ago and honestly forgot how funny it was agsndvsjbd and the queer rep isn't that much either but man there's is A LOT of bisexual energy from the main characters (mainly Stiles and Scott lmao) corey and mason my beloved
Tumblr media
The Good Place, amazing show and talk about important things too, and yeah a lot of bi energy haha
The Owl House, main character is biracial, bisexual, bilingual and gnc, and quite possibly the most adorable character EVER, parents of one of their bffs has two dads and her mentor is also queer and she is in love with a non binary character who she dated in the past (animated me is Luz, 100% agskdvdjbd)
Tumblr media
Yuri on Ice, the only anime I've ever seen and honestly laughed so fucking much, it's HILARIOUS and like every single character here is gay/queer lmao (also a lot of fans headcanon yuri as ace and I honestly see it)
Tumblr media
Shows I'm listing because there is rep but the show wasn't that mind blowing for me
Bojack Horseman, mainly because of the asexual representation (cause yeah, there ain't much out there) and I just LOVE his character (full disclosure, the show is fucked up and has a lot of trigger warnings, but still has funny parts)
Tumblr media
Gen LOCK, genderfluid character that is so freakin badass, but this show is very meta and might not be for everyone, haven't watched s2 yet tho (Cammie is also so freakin adorable and I hc her as ace lol)
Tumblr media
Loki, genderfluid and bisexual, canon in the tv show and quite fun story line (I ship Loki and Mobius so freaking much ughhhh manifesting in s2) SPOILERS but theres an undertheme or smt that he likes his clone and huh yeah that made me uncomfortable so just sayin, those parts made me cringe so much I had to skip them, that's why I placed the show down here haha
Tumblr media
Love, Victor, only watched s1 and heard there was a love triangle in s2 so gonna wait till s3 comes out to see if it's worth it lol but yeah, yall probably know it takes place in the Love, Simon movie universe (in the same high school too) although Victors situation is more complicated and not that accepting, he's gay and Half Colombian/Puerto Rican, and I think at the end of s2 a girl is like plainly shown to be bisexual but idk and yes im putting the hug between victor and felix here because felix is such a supporting friend and just pure sunshine and deserves the world

the only reason i think lokius has like a 1% chance of becoming canon is because the director (screenwriter? I forgot who lol) is bisexual herself and that gives it a higher chance of becoming canon rather than if Loki were written by a straight person. other than that if marvel writing would tell me anything it would be that sylki is 100% coming true :/
I honestly don't know what to think about it anymore either. Ever since the "Sylvie will betray Loki" theory I'm no longer convinced that Sylkie will be a thing, cos Sylvie is just very suspicious to me right now. But again, Loki and Mobius would be VERY bold and this is Disney after all. They're not known to be bold about LGBT rep.. like at all. My only hope is season 2 tbh. If they see how beloved this pairing is, maybeeee it has a slim chance. The fact that we got a proper hug with these two and not just a bro-slap on the back like Marvel loves to do it gives me a teeny tiny piece of hope. They're just really good together and the writers gotta see that too. They have the chance to FINALLY give us a gay couple in the MCU and I just hope they take it. Can't believe it's 2021 and we still have yet to see a same-sex kiss...makes me sad.

Any thoughts on the Loki premiere? (Assuming you’ve seen it; if not, feel free to ignore this :))
I have now finally seen the pilot! Yes, there are several more episodes to get through, but it's both the NHL playoffs and my poor Mets are playing games-per-day > 1 and so TV is something for those weird days when neither is happening because I cannot shed my father's rule about no non-sports TV before dinner despite being in my forties.
Thoughts on just the pilot:
* I love the 1960s aesthetic. I'm young Gen-X and can recognize it by sight because it was still part of my childhood. I'm sure they chose it intentionally and I could look up why, but I choose to believe it's because Marvel hit its modern stride then. I'm sure the actual reason is far more pedestrian, like someone watched Mad Men.
* I'm used to Marvel's comics universes having time watchers and omniscient bureaucrats with an inability to see trees while trying to preserve the forest. Welcome to the weirdness, MCU.
* I love the casual diversity of the TVA; Marvel TV/movies are crap on that front in general and tends to send up flares when they do something token (see: first canonically gay character in the MCU... is a no-named NPC portrayed by a Russo Brother) and in Loki it's just there. Eugene Cordero (Pillboi!!!) warmed my heart because the dude's got a niche and Wunmi Mosaku being badass and larger than sample size and Gugu Mbatha-Raw is just always a treat. I hope it continues.
* Owen Wilson's a genuine joy. I am always, always going to stan the unflappable competent character who isn't a superman. (Or, why I spent years writing SGA's Lorne and love MCU/Ultimate Clint Barton.) I look forward to what else Mobius has going on.
* I'm still ruminating on how the show navigates Loki's character. The entire premise hinges on a few facts that don't hang together well at all: (1) Loki was the most popular character to come out of the first Thor movie and thus his return for The Avengers; (2) Loki is an unrepentant villain for the latter and not any kind of anti-hero even if he's a fandom woobie; (3) the MCU tried really hard to massage Loki into an anti-hero as Phase 2 and 3 progressed; (4) the show returns us to the unrepentant asshole from 2012 and erases the massaging and 'growth' the character exhibited. We might have come to like the Loki who died by Thanos's hand, but we're stuck with the asshole who wanted to vaporize a Holocaust survivor to shut him up.
The pilot had to spend quality time addressing the fact that Loki did objectively awful things by choice. Bucky Barnes and his sense of responsibility versus what his actual responsibility is is a far, far easier topic to handle. Loki's arc is darker because he made choices on his own and while some of them were in emotional extremis, he had time to sober up and reflect and stop his bullshit. Instead, he chose to double down on those bad choices and that's always been something to reckon with with the character.
Loki's mischief is occasionally really effing malevolent and that's the case before his life is upended with the revelation of his Jotun origins. The first movie portrays him acting out of a reasonably wise place: he recognizes that his beloved brother is not ready to be heir apparent even if their parents don't see it. He loves his brother and his parents and Asgardia, but he thinks he's cleverer than everyone and he's willing to prove it even if it costs lives because it will save more lives. But he's not going to any of the funerals because he's doing this for science! And then his life and his identity and everything he believed in is blown up and he lashes out. At some point, it stops being a crime of passion and starts being murder.
Loki didn't have a redemption arc per se in the pre-variant timeline. Thor never forgot what his brother had become and Loki never pretended he hadn't done those things or wasn't likely to keep doing similar things, but it got kind of pushed to the side that he'd done those things. They team up because it's expedient and because Loki's had enough time to process events that he can have emotions beyond rage when it comes to Odin and Frigga and Asgardia. But Loki's never redeemed-redeemed. He's on a path toward it, perhaps maybe, when he gets killed. But it wasn't a sure thing.
The show's pilot has to get us from MCU Phase 1 Loki to MCU Phase 3 Loki or else none of this works. He doesn't have Bucky's lack of control -- he doesn't even have Frank Castle's TBI-induced lack of control. He hasn't had time to process his grief in 2012 -- that 'what if I am a robot?' pause is hella meaningful -- and the writers have to expedite that. I'm still not sure how much it worked. Loki seeing his own foreordained death after seeing proof of his indirect responsibility for Frigga's death and proof of his return to the bosom of Asgardia's royal family with his presence at Odin's side for his passing... it requires a lot of wish-fulfillment on the part of the viewer. A lot. Loki is fresh off mass murder and assuring us that he doesn't really enjoy hurting people (but is willing to do it anyway) and really does love his Asgardian family... we want it to work. I'm not sure it does if we're not already pre-sold on it working. Maybe this is developed in subsequent episodes. I hope so.

hm. hm
#loki spoilers (like all of them)
hhhhhhhhuh. that sure. happened
gonna be real honest here i hate the fact that they kissed
i hate how unclear they’re being about whether sylvie is Really A Loki or not (there was so much hinting that she wasn’t really loki. where did all that go. was it just a red herring they just kinda forgot about to go into “WE’RE THE SAME” instead)
i FUCKING hate how badly mobius got sidelined. they had a really interesting dynamic going with him and loki and even if they didn’t ever like Get Together it was still a good dynamic, i was invested in mobius as his own character already, and they actually had loki and sylvie outright state “im bisexual” as clearly as they could have without literally saying “im bisexual” and then like... shoved them into a forced really uncomfortable heterosexual romance??
like yes bi people can date different genders. you can be a bi man with a bi girlfriend. there’s nothing wrong with that. that’s not what im saying. but the fact that they Completely sidelined the potential gay subplot, to the point of neglecting a major character and confining him to “oh yeah, that guy’s still here somewhere” , right after noting loki and sylvie are bi, to ENTIRELY shift the focus on this weird forbidden straight loki romance that feels uncomfortable and forced is. a bad look
and why the FUCK!!!! would you want LOKI in charge of the entire all the timelines. why would you do that. i liked He Who Remains and i can buy “hes been doing this for so long he wants someone else to take it over its exhausting preventing the multiverse from erupting into war with a thousand of yourselves” and even the. whole thing being some fucked up willy wonka situation of trying to find who could be the new. timekeeper, or whatever, but WHY would it be LOKI. it’s not just “loki was the only one able to get this far” it was specifically “two lokis, or loki and whatever sylvie is, who only just barely trust each other, specifically described ‘she can’t trust and he can’t be trusted’ are the ideal to be in charge of the entire universe and all of time”
weren’t we spending this entire plot on why loki never succeeds and is actually at the end of the day not meant to rule
and i dont like the whole “we could rule the universe and time and everything Together Forever” thing as if loki and sylvie are somehow cosmic soul mates. their dynamic is ok. i can buy Loki Has A Crush. the blanket thing was cute. but other than that it feels one sided like she Cares about him, somewhere in there, i think, which probably means a lot for someone like her, but i never had the impression that she was like, His One True Love and it feels fucking weird to suddenly make it into this dramatic destined love story thing
i dont know. i dont like the direction this has gone in at all and mobius no longer knowing loki at the end there made me unfathomably sad
anything where its like “a person who was important to you No Longer Knows You/No Longer Remembers You” really upsets me any time it happens lmao

Author Recommendation List (2017)
In the spirit of Fanfiction Writers Appreciation Day I’m going to do one of my favorite things: putting together a list! And not just any list, but an accumulation of writers I follow and admire.
In the past I’ve done numerous versions involving fanfics (and more of those are coming later, don’t worry), but I really wanted to do one of these since I’ve apparently never done one before? Ever? In my entire life? Which just won’t stand. I think it can be easy to forgot about the people behind the stories and, being guilty of this myself, I want to rectify that a little bit here. So, in alphabetical order:
@aggybird: [AO3] [LJ] [Web]
Although Aggy Bird has written some unparalleled Teen Wolf fanfic, I actually know of them through their original works first and foremost. So it’s a little bit like cheating that I’m starting this fanfiction writers appreciation day list off with me gushing about their personal writing. But this is my post and it’s my list and there’s no force on this Earth strong enough to stop me from mentioning it, so I’m gonna.
ANYWAY, that’s the reasoning behind the ye-old-Livejournal link up there because that’s how I check back on their stuff like FrankInLove and Make the Yuletide Gay. They also have a fictionpress account if you’d rather support them there, but a post on their LJ account has the comprehensive list as well.
Not to mention how over the moon I was when I read their announcement that a short novella of theirs was being published. Without any preview to the story or being familiar with the publisher’s website I made an account and pre-ordered Recipe for Magic the second it was available. Now having read it the story deserves it’s own recommendation post, but for here I can assure everyone that it’s absolutely worth the investment.
@carvedwhalebones: [AO3] [Tumblr]
I’ve been an avid fan almost since the dawn of their Dishonored days, and if readers love that video game series they should be pleased to note Carved is still actively writing for it! I’m particularly in love with their Outsider headcanons, and how naturally those theories are implemented into their writing. They probably have some of the most interesting and varying takes on the character overall.
I don’t know them personally, but Carved also seems like a super chill person and is very active in the Dishonored fandom (and others!). They’re the driving force behind five - count them, FIVE - events, of which people can check out at @carvedwhalebones-events if you’re curious.
@demishock: [AO3] [FF.net]
I’ve been friends with Demi for a time that I can no longer measure and besides being one of the coolest people alive, they’re also one of the best innovative authors I know. It’s been an honor to watch them grow as a writer, and being able to enjoy what they’ve shared is often a pleasant trip down memory lane.
To me, Demi will probably be best remembered for their contributions to the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom (darkshipping in particular). But their recent foray into writing for Final Fantasy XV is not to be ignored, if followers of mine haven’t already seen my senseless fangirling over the stuff. So much care, consideration, and research is packed into each piece that it’s sometimes easy to mistake the stories for excerpts from canon!
@glyphenthusiast: [Tumblr]
I was first introduced to Glyph’s writing...by them, hah hah! They wrote a companion piece to one of my own, and have sent me one other of their works since then. Thankfully there’s more where those came from! They post exclusively to Tumblr as far as I can tell, so the only way to enjoy these hidden gems is to check out their writing tag on their blog.
They dabble in several different areas, but they have a wide array of Final Fantasy fare to choose from: Final Fantasy XV, Dissidia, Tactics - even Mobius, I recently discovered to my eternal happiness. There’s so much more, so if readers are an avid fan of video games like Overwatch, Dishonored, or the Souls series then odds are there’s SOMETHING to be enchanted by.
@ukefied: [AO3] [Web]
An oldie but a goodie, Mina was a huge influence to me as an aspiring writer back in my days as a wee-snarechan. They have moved on to other junctions (including getting published!!!!), but I fondly look back at their writing when I’m feeling nostalgic. Some works don’t even exist outside what I’ve saved over the years on my HDD, but there’s still a sampling on some archives floating around if you want to be transported back to the days of Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter x Hunter, or the like.
Aaand that’s a wrap! This is by no means a comprehensive collection of my favorite authors, but it’s what I could throw together on such short notice. If my followers want to add their own suggestions please do! I’m very interested to see who out there I might be missing out on.
