always weird to me when ppl talk about growing up on zelda bc before like 2 months ago the only zelda game ive EVER played was Link’s Crossbow Training on the wii which i had the cross bow accessory for, the only other media i ever consumed w/ zelda characters in it was super smash brothers brawl and ultimate which...did not very much prepare more for the vastness of zelda’s franchise

HW: all three timelines converged into one, bringing heroes, enemies, and more from each. The timeline guardian (is that Lana/Cia's title? I can't remember) is irreversibly split in two. It isn't actually Link's fault, yeah, but it's his 'adventure'.
OOT/MM: 'lived' in three different timelines; died in one, killed ganon in another, then left that timeline to a third. The goddess literally had to flood the world in the second timeline because it was so irreparable. They don't call him the Hero of Time for nothing I suppose!
ALLTP (and all the other games he's in - this guy can't catch a break): made a wish to fix what ganon had done, essentially saving OOT/MM Link back in his time, so that there could be the two extra timelines where he didn't die (fun fact. He's also named after himself bc of his oracle of ages adventure, at least in the manga adaptation).

OKAY I had a really vivid dream and then ideas stemmed from that dream and it was to do with legend so naturally the first thing to do is tell you said ideas right?
Yk how ever since tears of the kingdom was announced people were coming up with content to do with wild getting taken away from the chain to do totk before getting given back to them post totk? Imagine that, but with legend instead cause I think it would be fun.
So basically, everything is the same except to begin with, alltp link is there. So the chain is panicking because why the fuck is there a literal 10 year old here, this is worse than the 13 year old- etc etc. But them being them, they adopt this kid quickly, this is their baby brother and you can't tell them otherwise. Wind is happy there's someone younger than him tbh. The kids also really young, so where legend probably only talks about his adventures during his once in a blood moon lore drops, this child talks about them properly and actually has time to process. He's still traumatised from them but he's dealing with it in a healthy way and is surprisingly good at helping the others too.
Then during a world switch, somehow the kid disappears. He's gone for about... a month for them and then comes back visibly older, and more scarred and traumatised, sporting a fever to boot. For a while they can't get him to say anything about what happened but he's still a young kid so they do get him to talk about it. How idk tbf I haven't thought that deeply into it.
The same thing keeps happening after that. He helps the chain for a few months, disappears for a while and then comes back older and with a new adventure under his belt. By the last one they understood what was happening, and just.. waited for their not so little brother to come back.
I feel like this version of legend would be a lot less prickly than the one we all love because he had a proper support system after each adventure who actually understood what he was going through. Obviously he'd still be sarcastic as fuck but that's just who he is, after all that's a link thing.
I also think that they'd call lil leg some form of rabbit nickname or something to do with the pink hair.
anyways you're cool and this was a thing. Thanks for reading it b y e
FUN FACT!!!!! This is a fic!
I didn't write it, but I remember it was one of the fics that made me love Legend when I was first getting into the fandom!
It opens with ALTTP Link running into a random portal to escape the knights in his era and accidentally coming across the chain. warriors is actually like one of the first one's he meets, and because KNIGHT he goes into full panic mode. Warriors and the others help calm him down though, and eventually integrate them into their group. Wind and Warriors are debatably the closest with him, because Wind has a little brother now, and Warriors because after the misunderstanding when they meet, he kind of becomes Little Leg's protector and safe person.
And then Legend gets thrown back.
He thinks it's a dream, or he made it up to process his loneliness, but then after all his adventures, he finds a portal again, like he used to go through with his big brotehrs, and he's both scared and warily hopefull. He goes through, thinking they'll have grown and changed like him, that he's still the youngest.
He comes back on the same night he disappeared.
Nothing has changed.
They're still looking for him in a panic.
Naturally, Legend being Legend makes some comment about how they'll never find the kid they're looking for, and in a fit of protective big brother rage, Warriors absolutally loses it on him, thus forever imprinting the image of his big brother trying to kill him on Legend's mind.
They figure out what happens not long after, and of course Wars is apologetic, but Legend can now only see his protector as his attacker and a liar (Wars promised to never hurt him) and thus ANGST
The story is still in the works, but I would 100% go and read it! It's a real tear jerker!
.....I'll try and find the link, but if anyone else remembers what this one is called, please tell me, because now I ALSO want to read it.

🫶🏽 Hullo! We're the Bat Collective (🦇) the creator of Monstrous Fusion! We want to clarify that this is a Links Meet AU independent of Linked Universe or any other popular Links Meet AU. Our main account is @nebulapaws
Our Ask Box is; Open!
I ask that people be kind and respectful when answering questions. We are not a machine, we have a life outside this AU. You are completely allowed to draw fanart or write fanfics and don't be nervous to ping the account to show us! We love seeing what people have to create. We can't stop anyone from writing/drawing NSFW, we just ask that that not be shown to us. (This one is also common sense, but please do not write that about the children in this AU.) Thank you.
Detailed Synopsis;
Ancient forces have returned to the living world in the shadows of the divine. It struck before the goddesses can react and captured the goddess of courage, intending to spread their plague to the other three. Before she was fully imprisoned, she sent a warning to the goddess of Time; no one hero was enough, they needed as many hands on deck as possible.
Thus, the goddess of Time reached throughout the ages and pulled the heroes of old into one final adventure. They must battle the shadows of their past, present and future. One stumble, one falter or one wrong step, can lead to the end of the timeline and the creation of a new eternal age of darkness and despair.
Meet the Links (below the cut)
Artisan | ALBW/TFH (they/them) - A boisterous and adventurous young fellow. To the outside perspective, they can seem rather loud and oblivious--and they wouldn't deny it, either! What runs deeper, however, is a young person who has lost the deepest love, hoping desperately they can pick up the pieces left behind.
Engie | Spirit Tracks (he/they) - The Engineer is a smart young fellow. He's quite the boy scout--smart, kind and...a little too trusting for his own good--but he's terrible at fighting. He's shy, and not very people smart, but stubborn. In spite of his rather...poor sword skills, they've never heard the term "give up".
Eras | Hyrule Warriors (he/they) - In his prime time, he was the head of the Royal Guard, the most loyal soldier and best strategies. Now a retired war vet, Eras struggles in the shadows of the war. He's quiet, calculated but loyal to a deadly fault. He would do anything it takes, if that meant he could protect his family and kingdom.
Faye | OoT / MM (any/all) - A former hero that'd been turned into a monster upon getting lost in the Lost Woods. He's mistrusting of people, quiet and sneaky. If you aren't close with her, you'd think she's standoffish and unapproachable. Underneath that calloused exterior is a soft spoken child who wants to be loved. They just. Don't think anyone would love them enough to try.
Feathers | Skyward Sword (he/ae) - Determination is aer middle name. Feathers is confident, snarky and slightly egotistical. Ae had a taste of divine ichor and they're not afraid to drink from the devil's chalice again. Feathers is exceptionally skilled for a young man at his age. POTS has never stopped him, even if its gotten significantly worse since the beginning of this adventure...
Minish | Minish Cap / Four Swords (they/them) - Minish has never been one for talking. They're reserved and self contained but quite bright. As a system, they've never felt like they've had a place to slot into. Turmoil from their past still lingers as an echo in the back of their mind, and with the freshness of their adventure, even at the young age of 12 they have a lot to think about.
Mirror | alltp / Oox / LA(he/they/ze) - Mirror has had zer fair share of adventures--honestly, he was pretty sure he's seen everything. Once a glowing and legendary adventurer and mage, Mirror is quite happy to retire and settle down with Ralph. In their old age, they are snarky and imbittered. Though the hero's courage still rests deep in his soul, an inexplicable cowardice has taken hold--or perhaps it never left?
Tune | WW/PH (he/him) - Tune is a carefree sailor hailing from Outset Island. He's very intune with the winds, seas and the culture of his home. As such, he is carefree, reckless and a bit of a goofball, and that can often come off a bit childish if you don't know him personally. For someone his age, he's skilled with the sword and oddly nonchalant about the risk of hurting someone.
Rancher | Twilight Princess (he/she) - Though he is but a simple farmhand from Ordon, Rancher is exceptionally brave, often going out of his way to help those in need. Possessing a heart of gold and dogged loyalty to his greatest good, Rancher is the ideal hero. The only thing marring her perfect image is a shadowy form and a regret that boiled his blood.
Wild | Botw/Totk (he/him) - The traveler is a curious fellow. He's quiet, reserved and holds himself with an air of mystery that befuddles and intimidates those around him. He wears his life on his face and scars, yet no one knows much about him. Inside he fears the lack of control in his life. Though the shrine has cleansed him of his self imposed silent burden, he lapses occasionally into that silence. Under all that, he is quite the adventurous young fellow and enjoys a good challenge.
Zonau | 10k hero (he/it) - Zonau is a mysterious fellow. He is quiet, reclusive, and tired. Many years have passed since he had given up on adventuring. To say he is disgruntled to be on another adventure is...quite an understatement, really. In spite of that, he is not a barer of the hero's spirit for nothing. He adventures with a wild spirit, even if its been dulled over the years.

I found out that, when I'm in a creative but not quite drawing mood, recoloring characters that deserved costumes is entertaining. 👏My Lolians here DESERVED SOMETHING DIFFERENT TO WEAR👏
These aren't the best I'm sure and some may look bad (though in hw that still applies too) and I'm not the most knowledgeable with layer blending, but regardless here are the themes I went with:
Ravio: Link (albw), Link (botw), Agahnim (sprite), and Link (Bunny Link, alttp)
Yuga: His painting colors, Agahnim (concept/official art), Ganon (alltp), Puppet Ganon

🎭 and 👍 for the Zelda ask game?
🎭 When you play Zelda games, do you imagine being Link yourself, or is Link a separate character to you? Basically, are you Link, or is Link a separate character?
I see Link as his own character , mostly because I enjoy imagining the little twink suffering, but Id rather not yknow,, have my wife turned into a dragon
👍 Favorite Zelda Headcanons?
Ooo, hard one.
I really like ALLTP! Zelda and Link being siblings. Also LOZ1 Link being part fairy, or TOTK Zelda keeping dragon features after the game ends. Also making any character trans lol.

The Legend of Locked Land
Sometimes I wonder about the rest of the planet Hyrule is on. Hyrule has tens of thousands of years of history after the surface was destroyed by Demise, and there was a civilization then that could build fairly advanced robots. Not to mention time traveling devices.
So sometimes I think the rest of the planet, if there is anyone there, would be SUPER advanced. Or have long since self extinguished. Or both! But then how come they don't come into play within Hyrule? There doesn't appear to be any trade, there's no visitor to the 'medieval fantasy', there's no foreign aid whenever Hyrule gets destroyed again...
One scenario I sometimes imagine is that Hyrule is isolated magically. Nothing gets in or out of the immediate area, which would include whatever islands are involved in various games if you want.
Going with that, I love the idea that new iterations end up burying the old ones. You play with that idea and the depths may not have been originally underground; major geological features move around because why not? The new iterations are all new anyway; races that have disappeared may just still live in a lower strata! And come back later! Like the gorons being around in OOT but not ALLTP!
So anyway, this isn't one of the headcanon I'm consistent with. It's an AU even for my own imagination. But I really do think it's got mad potential. What about the people on the outside? What do they see? What do they think? What's their world like? You can have isekai of outsiders in Hyrule, or you can have someone from Hyrule managing to get out! Get... out of bonds!
Anyway, early draft of the start of a story set in this Locked Land AU below the read more. The setting is that Link needs a macguffin that's outside of Hyrule and finds a song that transports him there. The locals see what looks like a kid dressed up as an elf appear out of nowhere and figure they got to help him find his parents again, not to mention figure out what the heck happened to him.
This AU is open, anyone interested can go right ahead and write for it, I'd LOVE to see stories that use it! If anyone's interested.
And if the genre already exists and I just failed to find it, fic recommendations are appreciated. :D
Double Isekai Story
The boy in green is staring at my screen when I come in the room. He startles when he hears my steps and jumps back, looking like he's just been caught red handed.
He’s tiny. Judging by his face, I'd put him at about 12, 13 years old. His voice, not a child’s and just barely cracking anymore, would put him a bit older again, but he's the size of an 8 year old.
And the green, and those EARS... he couldn't look more like some kind of wood fairy if he tried.
No, that's not true. A fairy wouldn't carry a sword, shield and bow. We didnt’ even bother trying to take them away, we just activated our personal shields just in case they weren’t toys.
"It's okay," I say. "You can look at anything you want. I'm going to need you to pay attention to me for a bit, though, we got to figure out what's going on with you."
He blinked and frowned, obviously confused. "I'm looking for the Gods' Forgotten Stone," he said. "I already said that. I said it was sent somewhere out here a long time ago, remember? So what do you mean, you need to figure me out? I was waiting here because I thought you could help me." He sounded downright offended at the idea that not everything might line up for him in the most expedient and convenient way possible.
"I AM going to try and help," I said. "Sit." As I said it, I sat down myself on one of the two visitors chairs. The boy sat down in my own chair, on the other side of the desk. I let it slide.
"My name is Drankan," I said. "I'm an investigator here, and here's the thing. You're a child, and you're out wandering alone and nobody's seen you around here before."
He sagged slightly at being called a child, which I took as another sign that he was in his teens. "I've never been here before," he said. "I didn't even know this place existed. Most people I talked to said I couldn't come this way. And I couldn't, at first. I used the Song of Elsewhere."
He proffered an item from a small pocket on his chest, and the small gesture sent my heart racing again: he was showing me some kind of flute or recorder, adorned with some kind of symbols I wasn’t familiar with, and if I was understanding correctly, he was saying that he played a song on it to come here from somewhere else. And, even more distressing, the instrument was way too long to have fit in his pocket. And even MORE distressing, it matched the many accounts we had that he had just appeared out of nowhere with no portal in sight.
"Are your parents, or guardians, here too?" I asked.
"My... oh." His eyes widened. His ears moved as well from the motion. I tried to ignore it.
"You think I'm lost and need to find my parents, right?"
"Aren't you?"
He shook his head. "My parents died a long time ago. My aunt raised me, but she's still home. I'm here on purpose, I'm not lost, and I can look after myself. I just need to find the Stone."
"Okay, let's back up. Your name is Link. Right? Where are you from, Link?"
"Castle Town."
"I don't know where that is. Is the actual castle still there? What is it called?"
The kid's eyes widened again. "You don't know about us either!" he exclaimed. "It's Locked Land Castle. Where I come from is called Locked Land. It's West of here, past the Ocean."
I frowned and touched the translator on my cheek. Wherever he was from, the translation was coming out as Locked Land. I had no way to know whether that was the etymological origin of the name, the natural phenomenon called Locked Land, or whether it just meant he was saying he came from a place people couldn’t go to.
It was a bit unnerving that I wasn’t dismissing the possibility he was from Locked Land out of hand. But then he had just taken out a long flute from a small pocket and claimed to have traveled by song. Not to mention the ears. And the appearing out of nowhere.
I was clearly losing my mind. Locked Land was a geological oddity with a side of supernatural looking shenanigans seemingly designed to keep conspiracy theorists and other nutbars happy with countless theories and conjectures. I’d always figured that if its mysteries were ever conclusively solved, a lot of people would fall into depression from no longer being able to believe their wild imaginings of choice about it.

last night I was having im-not-sleeping-thoughts and I came up with this:
We like to characterize Legend as having nothing for a home; maybe he has his house, or Fable, or Ravio (its usually Ravio), but his home is always an empty place.  Cuz we like it when he’s lonely, right angsters?
But I have a different perspective.  In the alltp manga, Link has this apple orchard with his uncle and at the end his manga-only friend Ghanti comes and lives there with him.  And it gave me this idea, what if his home wasn’t empty, but full?
Ghanti, who loves walking in the orchard and playing with children.
His grandparents from the oracle mangas, who are still alive and well.  Their grandson needs them; he’s lost so many people (they can tell that at least) so they rent out their fields and move in with him.
Dimitri the friendly dodongo, Moosh the flying blue bear, Ricky the boxing kangaroo.  Link really did them a service back in Holodrum, it would be a shame to leave him alone~
The ever-present thorn in his side Ravio, who is still running business out of his house, but hey he keeps the hearth warm and makes a mean chocolate chip cookie.
Piyoko the magical talking cucco.  She may like Link a lot but she still has a mean peck!
And then the three oracles are always dropping by, Zelda loves to come for a moment of peace, Irene and Maple are always flying by to chat for a moment, Impa loves to visit and grump about the state of his house.
Even Seres sometimes knocks with a casserole, Gulley occasionally plays pranks on him at unholy hours of the morning, Ralph will drop in with Nayru and berate him.
And under his bed is a box, a box filled with things that bring a mixture of joy and grief.  The threadbare, child-sized clothes his mother made for him in the Dark World.  His uncle’s waistcoat that still smells of him.  An ocarina next to a pressed hibiscus that came from the bush newly planted next to his door.
He keeps them to remind himself that he was loved, that he was loved so very deeply and wonderfully.  And the pain of that love isn’t gone yet, but with every one of Ghanti’s steps, of Ravio’s smirks, of Moosh’s nudges, of every unique knock on his door, it lessens slightly.
Just—Legend being so loved.
EDIT: This is a series now!  Twilight  Time
