No one asked but I'm bored so here are my ratings of popular Stranger Things ships! (kind of a long post).

Disclaimer: Ship who you wanna ship. This is just for fun :)

Byler: 100/10, I love my boys. No notes.

Lumax: Also a 100/10. They're just so!!!

Elmax: 9/10. I love them with my whole heart but I'm a Lumax shipper first and foremost.

Elumax: 100000/10. Literal perfection. Elmax AND Lumax (and Hopclair, depending on how you view the ship dynamic)? Literally what more could you want?

Duzie: 7/10. They're cute and I really like Suzie. I wish we could've seen more of them, maybe Suzie will come back with a bigger role next season.

Henderhop: 6/10. Typically I HC El as a lesbian but I actually like this pairing. Definitely not a ship I'd die on but I enjoy interacting with the fan content.

Henderclair: 6/10. Listen, I love their dynamic. If I didn't HC Dustin as the token straight, I'd probably rate them higher. Platonically? Literally everything to me. Romantically? I'm not opposed.

Byclair: 8/10. I also like them a lot but I'm a die-hard Byler shipper. I do enjoy interacting with the fan content though!

Wheelclair: 7/10. They're silly and I love them but this is a particular dynamic I prefer platonic. I do HC that Mike had a crush on Lucas when they were younger though.

Mileven: 1/10. I'm just not a fan. I'm giving them a one solely cuz I enjoyed them in season 1 when I first watched the show in middle school, but I'm definitely not a fan of this ship at all. Platonically though?? Amazing.

Jancy: 10/10. I love them. I'm praying every day that the Duffers didn't completely fuck them up and that they'll be endgame.

Ronance: 9/10. I like them, they're cute. I interact with a lot of their fan content. Let's go lesbians.

Rovickie/Rockie: 7/10. I just don't know enough about Vickie yet to know if them as endgame is what I'm rooting for, but from what we've seen they're cute.

Stonathan: 10/10. I love them and I'm so excited for their interactions in season 5! They're the enemies to lovers.

Jargyle: 9/10. Love me some stoner boyfriends. They've definitely kissed before at least once.

Stancy: -10000/10. BOOOOOOO 🍅🍅🍅. They are not right for each other. Steve deserves someone who loves him and Nancy deserves someone she loves.

Stoncy: 3/10. If it's in the way that Steve and Jonathan are dating and Jonathan and Nancy are dating with Nancy and Steve being platonic, then sure. But if it's all three dating, nah. Steve and Nancy just don't work imo.

Buckingham (Chrissy x Robin): 8/10. I think this is considered a rare pair but I think they're adorable and I love the fan content around them.

Hellcheer: 5/10. Not my favorite but I have no issues with this ship. I see the vision of them as best friends mainly.

Steddie: 5/10. They're not bad and I interact with some of their fan content (some of their tiktok edits go hard), but they're just kind of okay, you know?

Jopper: 10/10. I love them. Been a Jopper fan since day one. They're so endgame.

i was tagged by @thatgirlwithasquid and @intothedysphoria, thanks y’all, I really appreciate it! 💕

1. ride or die ship/otp : Hellcheergroveton! every combination in this ship is adorable and it has all my favs too ☺️

2. most annoying ship : m*leven. I am beyond tired of watching a young disabled girl be taken advantage of and have it be treated as romantic. El deserves to live partner free, and M*ke deserves to go in the whole garbage can.

3. second favorite ship : Hollogrove. Since it’s not part of the core hellcheergroveton relationship, I’ll branch out a little and bring in my girl Heather. I love her and Billy I’m a relationship and can totally see them spending the rest of their lives together ♥️

4. favorite platonic dynamic : Billy and Max, or Dustin and Steve. Or Steve and Gareth. Cause I headcanon Gareth as becoming Steve’s caregiver after the events of the show leave him with cognitive and physical disabilities

5. underrated ship : Hollogrove, Cunningway, Pompompineapple, Stonathan, Cheerscoops, Calicheer, Rockie, Stargyle, Cammy, Kegboys, Steather, Argilly, and so many more but I’ll stop there.

6. overrated ship : Any of the fruity four (it makes me wanna gag just typing it) ships. I haven’t looked in the fandom tags for a year because it’s oversaturated with passionless, factory produced, carbon-copy fanworks that look like Harringrove fics put through ai to be rewritten as St*ddie, or Buckleway into r*nance. I’m sick of it. It’s boring. I’ll come up with my own steddie content, thanks.

7. one thing to change in canon : Everything. Not even joking. I’m going blorbo shopping and bringing all my favs back to my dollie house to play fix-it.

8. something canon did right : Um. I guess letting actors put in feedback and details of their own. Like Millie choosing for El to touch Billy’s cheek, Dacre giving us backstory on Billy’s mom and also on Billy’s disability (BPD), both he and Joe Keery refusing the original scripts, Joe Quinn improvising Eddie’s crush on Chrissy, and so on. All of the actor choices are the only good things about the show at this point.

9. a thing I’m proud of creating for the fandom : @disabledbillyandsteveweek! There's more information about the event over on the blog, but basically it’s an event starting in about two weeks meant to highlight Billy and Steve as disabled characters, through all kinds of fan works and different ships!

10. a character who is perfect to me : Christine Renée-Beth Cunningham. Nobody compares to my cheer girl.

11. the most relatable character and why : Also Chrissy. She reminds me a lot of myself, especially how I was when I was still in highschool, being timid and struggling a lot with my mental health. I wish she could have grown and gotten help and felt better since I’m on my journey to doing so right now, but I’m forever grateful to have seen a character with an eating disorder and an abusive family on screen, portrayed in a heartfelt and generous way- all thanks to miss Grace Van Dien

12. character I hate most and why : Neil, Karen (actually just the Wheelers in general except little Holly), Brenner, Owens, the lady that shot Benny, literally so many of them. Anyone who intentionally and unabashedly hurts other characters without remorse.

13. something I’ve learned from the fandom : To be patient, because even when things seem tough or impossible, we can make it. Together, with friends who understand us, and who share our pain, we can fight and keep going! Especially because this community will always have folks who understand and have our backs, we just have to find them ❤️❤️

14. three tags I seek out on ao3 : I actually don’t read fic on ao3. The extreme amounts of severely triggering content hosted on that site is just too much for me and I can never seem to avoid it. I only post to ao3 because I know people find it easily accessible, but I had one too many mix-ups that led to me being in a terrible state of mind, so I discontinued using the site.

15. a song I strongly associate with otp and/or favorite character : I’ll never shut up about “Time in a Bottle” by Jim Croce. Conveniently off the same record as Hop has on Vinyl and Cassette, it’s my favorite song ever because it’s so tender and loving and even though it’s old people music yall should give it a listen. It applies to any ship, but especially packs a punch with Harringrove. Also “Magic” by Olivia Newton-John.

@magazineswithmyself it’s honestly a mixture of random silly things, and then pretty neat things- the obvious enemies to friends to lovers, that usually has me weak, the potential they have to become much closer friends, them having to sorta move past high school, so the awkwardness, their jigs with kids (dustin for steve, will for jon)

the way Steve was the one who bought Jonathan another camera- even, as small as this is, the way Steve’s iconic bat was made by Jonathan, both their urges to protect close ones, putting others before themselves, Jonathan ESPECIALLY, Steve’s six nuggets dream, and how Jonathan’s main thing is family, the obvious trauma bonding (not saying that’s the only requirement for a relationship, but it’s sorta what kickstarted Jancys) and i’ll privally make a longer post about how amazing it is to me after rewatching some more or looking at an old slideshow i have on Stonathan

AND NOW HEADCANONS <3

when Jonathan showed up in the van, Steve stole him IMMEDIATELY to do his hair, he’s always wanted to do Jonathan’s hair, but now it’s longer and messier, and Steve just will not stand for that (no offense to Jon’s hair, i like it)

jonathan tries weekly to ‘fix’ steve and his music taste

he’s made/given steve several mixtapes with some of Jon’s favorites to listen to, but on Steve’s birthday, Jon gives Steve a tape of all his favorite music, and Steve is beyond excited because he got his own tape with his own things- and even more so, Jonathan KNOWS what he likes! jonathan is the first person to know what Steve likes, so he’s a happy lol boy

when/if Jon ever opened up about his past, or at least the having to be a parent, and having no childhood at ALL, steve makes it a point to take him to do something fun every week, to fill in the missing parts

Steve let’s jon and his family take movies for free, that’s another small way of Steve apologizing to Jonathan and trying to let Jonathan have more fun for free

at one point Jonathan stole Steves “Scoops Ahoy” hat and made fun of him

steve said he’d make Jonathan pay double for ice cream if he didn’t stop

jon ended up getting free ice cream for a weak

Jonathan is actually used to cuddling, he’d do it with his brother and sometimes his mom if she was there, he was usually big spoon, but Steve is touch starved, so when he’s little spoon to Jonathan, he MELTS

jon also loves being big spoon because it makes him feel like he’s protecting whoever he’s cuddling

but one time Steve was big and Jon was little, and Jon cried some, because he’s NEVER been held before and HOLY SHIT

one time when Jon was high he decided to put pink glitter in one of Steve’s MANYY hair bottles

Steve has now a full head of sparkly pink hair

jonathan could NOT stop laughing. he was LITERALLY rolling on the floor, clutching his sides, dying.

one time steve tried doing a ‘hot’ pose for jonathan for his pictures, he ended up falling and spraining his ankle

Jonathan has at least three books on the Victorian flower language and picks steve flowers according to their meaning

whenever jon does get flowers, their hand picked from the ground, not bought

jon and steve went as werewolves together one time for Halloween

jon is actually a very talented puppeteer, he loves making little puppet shows for his family

steve has a pet turtle he named Jomatham

steve likes it when Jonathan reads books to him, Jon does different voice for each character

both jonathan and steve tend to punch people if they sneak up on them, like Zed and Addison from Zombies

generally one of them has a bloody or busied nose every other week

they have a specific first aid kit with the stuff they use for the noses

because jon never really had people to talk to, whenver he gets excited, if it actually shows, he gets all rambling and quick like Robin

neither of them can sleep with the curtains open, so before they sleep, one makes sure to go and shut all the blinds/curtains

jonathan can’t sleep in the dark, and steve can’t sleep in the light, so jonathan buys him a bright pink eye mask with eyelashes

for the pinkier (?) pink, "I used to like them a lot more" refers to: before I jumped into the buckingham pit and have never been able to recover. buckingham is my fave, but I still love rockie a lot!!!! also the "they're exes" and the "angst" are potentials for scenarios where Vickie doesn't get involved with the UD shit and Robin doesn't tell her or does tell her but Vickie's not able to fully understand what Robin's been through because she hasn't gone through the same stuff, and they're just not able to make it through together. I read a great ficlet like that the other day that completely ruined me and I LOVED it. also forgot to cross it (wtf is wrong with me), but "part of a bigger polycule" is amazing bc can you imagine them + Nance + Chrissy??? they're everything to me, the other 3 would be so feral about protecting Vickie that girl would be so spoiled (as she should) I love them dearly

"The Definitive Byler fic rec list"

Literally no one asked for this but because I spent the majority of last year (...and 2019, and 2018...) reading byler fics and coping with life, I thought I’d make a list of some of my absolute favorites.

The other day I was basically starving for some byler fics and the angel @magicalfairy provided me with some of her faves so I thought I’d do the same, because I love reading, and I love all of these fics and I appreciate their writers💗 And fic writers in general, come on!

- This is a mix of long works and one-shots/short stories. - Everything is mostly fluff with a tad of angst and a lot of internalized homophobia conflict. - Every fic is completed, except for the ones I mention that they are not. - I try my best to lay out the stories in a way that I won’t spoil you the plot but also warning you of some stuff you might don’t like. Either way, all of these fics are correctly tagged by their respective authors/owners, so read at your own risk. For better understanding, in between brackets I denote Rating, Words and quantity of Chapters. - I feel like I should clarify, none of these are narrated in the singular first person. None of that “And I told him...”, no.

Long fics

a dream always the same (T, 99k, 35 chapters) What happened in those few weeks between the Battle of Starcourt and the Byers leaving Hawkins. Literally a satisfying and very needed fill in of season three, with a good dose of Mike’s thoughts and conflict. Mike’s characterization is specially amazing in this one. The writing style is amazing and I know the author put everything into making it historically accurate, and it was really sweet. You probably read it, it’s by the amazing sevensided here on Tumblr🧡

Spring Break (T, 120k, 14/15 chapters) The slowburn of my dreams. Lots of internalized conflict and conflict with each other. Conflict within the Party (uhh kind of), conflict with Mike and Will. Byers family has moved and the kids are visiting! Chaos. Characterization is on point. Yeah, I know it’s unfinished, but the fourteenth chapter actually serves as a pretty nice ending.

This is where it starts (M, 148.8k, 24 chapters) Aged up characters. The Party is in college and Will disappears again, but now it’s different. Mike knows he didn’t vanish from thin air, and the discovery he and the Party end up making is pretty insane. Mystery solving/fantasy/third dimension, throw in a bit of D&D and Mike realizing some shit, and you get this marvelous fic. It’s a breath of fresh air. The world building is definitely one of the elements that stands out the most, because it’s very nicely described, it sounds like a dream and it’s completely immersive. Absolute gem of a fic.

there’s a Starman waiting in the sky (M, 30.6k, 8 chapters) Do I need to say anything? Will is out there living his best life and Mike realizes that wow, umm, maybe his best friend looks a bit too nice with that costume... and wait, is he getting horny? It’s actually really fun and sexy.

The Evening Speaks (T, 23k, 7 chapters) In where Mike is a late-night college radio host and Will is the art student that stays up till late to catch up with Wheeler on the Mic. They flirt through songs y’all, this one is really sweet.

heads or tails? (E, 24k, 3 chapters) Aged up characters. I know most people don’t enjoy sex in fics and with specific characters but this one is insanely well written. It’s a slowburn that commits to the tension and with every word you are grasping and anticipating their next move. I think you can find the author here on Tumblr as yousaidyes🧡

The Man of Average (M, 56.7k, 5/? chapters) Aged up characters. No but you don’t understand, the writing here is absolute gourmet. The story is exciting as well, it’s super interesting. Weirdly enough, for being very aged up characters, they are well characterized but they don’t feel like teenagers. They are naturally Mike and Will. The author really captured Mike and Will’s essence. I know, it’s unfinished and it’s updated very rarely, but this is the typical fic you can’t believe someone just posted on the internet for free. I will say though, I think it’s definitely not for everyone. Read at your own risk.

Heartstrings (E, 82.8k, 24/? chapters) Aged up characters. By the same author of The Man of Average. A collection of memories, the road to Mike and Will’s happy ever after. And fucking hell!!!!! You’ll cry and get angry, you’ll cheer for them, then you’ll want to crash their faces together because god dammit you love each other!!! But yeah, same thing here. The writing and the way the story is laid out as a nonlinear narrative is brilliant. And I also think this is one of the best Will versions I’ve read. The author might as well be the og creator of this two characters tbh. You can find the author here as mylesimeblr🧡

Sinners behind the walls (T, 1.5k, 1/1) And because I can’t stop recommending this author, a little thing of Mike tormenting himself but also being too deeply committed to Will.

The Red Envelope series (T/E, 167K, two completed works) Something happens that Will thought was impossible and from there, pure drama and romance. Anything by this author has the potential to become your absolute favorite fic, but this series in particular is amazing. I doubt that any of you haven’t read this, but it doesn’t hurt to put it in this list. I’m pretty sure the author is serendipitous-magic on Tumblr🧡

A New Fight series (T, 91k, two completed works, one WIP) And finally the Star Wars AU that we all needed. But this isn’t your typical “Mike is Han”, “Will is Leia” and “El is Luke”, it’s way more interesting than that, and the author has appropriated the Star Wars world like no other. I’ll admit I’m not a 100% fluent in SW lore but this is amazing to me either way. This author is also on Tumblr, tea-for-one-please🧡

- Yes, most of these are (if not all), in a way, canon compliant/canonverse/canon continuation into fanon. (In a way)

One-shots and short stories

Sundae for Two, Please (G, 4.8k) Steve being the supportive friend and older brother these kids collectively need. (not Jonathan erasure, we love him). Steve is very sweet himself, and this little cute thing through his POV is gorgeous. Yes, it’s byler.

Backstage (T, 10k, 2/2) Jonathan, you forgot to mention to Will how hot your new band’s guitarist is, dude. Now he’s hyperventilating and weirdly flirting with him in the corner. Background Stonathan because why not.

102 Peach Street (G, 3.8k) Established relationship, but not only that, they are married :’’))) PURE fluff. Extreme fluffiness. Diabetes.

sweatshirts and bottled up feelings (T, 3.2k) Or, Mike thinks that the sweatshirt Will wears looks insanely good on him. And kitchens are for lovers.

kiss it better (T, 16.3k) Basically one of the best character studies of a few precise moments of Mike and Will’s relationship and feelings.

will wonders ever cease (T, 11.3k) #i ship will and happiness. Omfg what a beautiful piece of fanfic. Will centric, this kid really deserves all the good in the world.

The Calm After the Storm (T, 1.6k) Tooth rotting fluff, boyfriends in love. Boyfriends being lazy, cuddling, love words, kisses. Boys loving each other’s company... Basically, Mike and Will in their element. What more can you ask for?

neither of us ready to let go (T, 4.8k) That scene from season three, but a bit of a fix it.

Still in love (G, 1k) Domestic, married life au fluff. Y’all, I’m a sucker for established Byler, even if I can’t find many fics with it. But this is very sweet. It takes place in 2020, but I don’t think there are any mentions of the COVID-19 crisis that I remember.

I Nver Find Out ‘Til I’m Head Over Heels (G, 12.5K) Classic 5+1 fic. If you haven’t read it, where have you been? This is your moment. In where Mike keeps inviting Will to the school dances and Will thinks it’s just a joke until he realizes it’s not.

Before You’re Gone (T, 5.9k) Will is leaving Hawkins and Mike thinks this is a great moment for a confession. This one I discovered last friday, thank you friend @magicalfairy 💗

You’re weird Wheeler (M, 4.5k) Mike unintentionally starts a tradition of going to each other to talk about their sexual encounters just after they finish. Will keeps getting more explicit with the details he shares, and he makes his best friend interested. This one is really fun y’all.

Out-Of-Town Friends (N/R, 4.6K) It’s not rated. I haven’t re- read it but I’d say it would probably fall in a T rating. So cute!! Will has new friends and sneaks off every friday and the Party doesn’t know where he is going, so Mike decides to follow him and is surprised.

Snowed Under (G, 1.3k) By the same author of The New Fight series. Mike is spending christmas by himself in college because a snowstorm hits Chicago and Nancy can’t drive to see him, but then he has a surprise visitor. Ahhh just a lil sweet holiday fic. Super cute.

you love me anyway series (T, 7.1k, three completed works) Literally just the cutest thing ever. Established Byler. Will loves to take pictures and he loves taking pictures of Mike. It’s adorable.

you wanna be friends forever (i can think of something better) (T, 9k) This one is so amazing. So. Amazing. From Will’s POV, my kid deserves the world and he gets it.

okay not to be okay (T, 4.9k) Mike is a bit sad but then everything is okay.

can’t hold out forever (G, 18.4k) Y’all!!!!! 5+1 sweetness. Mike has been falling in love since kindergarten. And it’s long af, you’ll enjoy it.

even if it takes forever (G, 1.3k) College short AU, they miss each other, they love each other, they promise all to each other. It is sappy y’all.

clear as day (N/R, 18.4K, 4 chapters) It’s not rated, but I’d say it falls in the T category. Strangers to friends to lovers. And also, everyone is pretty gay; we have our dynamic trio Mike, Max and El as disaster lesbians (and gay). Will works at the library and he is also gay. Lucas and Dustin and Will are the best friends we needed. It’s very sweet and the Party is kind of formed here!

I went overboard with the one-shots, so you must have realized how much I love long one-shots and I favor them over long works lmao but they are all amazing!!! If it’s on this list, I probably read it at 2 am, sobbing in my bed. So. Hope you enjoy it☺️🧡

2. speaking of nancy, the kids literally do not trust her at all fjvkfmcmf lucas is like well nancy might betray us but the chief wouldn't!! and mike does not want to answer her on the radio at all he immediately assumes she's working with the government

3. the kids.... i adore them.... dustin is so fucking funny he interrupts clarke's date then IMMEDIATELY hangs up on him the second he has the information he needs

4. joyce and jonathan hold hands while el is looking for will and barb. i just think that's very sweet and soft.

5. nancy does not react that much to finding out that barb is dead gjvjfncm she's just like :0 and then she's fine. obviously she isn't actually fine but i think natalia took "pushing down her grief to focus" a little too far to the point where nancy just doesn't seem too affected

6. nancy and jonathan both look so good in this episode the fits are TOP NOTCH. however, much later on, they also just abandon the kids at the school without telling them, which is not sexy, but THEN they break into the police station and steal a bunch of weaponry, which is EXTREMELY sexy.

7. hopper just knocking out all of those dudes to get the kids off the bus ... sexy

8. hopper effortlessly tossing all those bags of salt to jonathan who's like struggling to catch them and lift them and keep up is so fucking funny

9. when tommy threatens steve steve literally rolls his eyes like okay king !! go off bitchy boy!!

11. i’ll be honest this post sat in my drafts for like three days and now i can’t remember what else i was gong to say so. here’s all i recall about “the upside down”

12. steve is the love of my life. when he goes back into the byers house and saves nancy and jonathan, he really does SAVE them. he single-handedly fends off the demogorgon with the bat, and then nancy and jonathan STAND BEHIND HIM as he defends them... it honestly fucked me up, seeing steve stand right in front of them, protecting them, no hesitation, nothing but a bat in his hands against a monster from another dimension...

13. the monster hunting trio really does steal the whole episode. the kids are pretty cute, too, and el is a badass and she kills like ten people which makes me very proud of her, but that fucking trio scene... fuck, dude.

14. dustin carries el around through the hallways when she exhausts herself killing the lab goons, and it’s the most precious shit i’ve ever seen.

15. the kids were really about to fucking DIE when el was passed out on the table in the school. they were fumbling around for ammo for lucas’s wrist rocket, and even though the demogorgon just presumably sustained gunfire from trained soldiers, they were just... standing there, confident that if they could just get the rocks out of their backpack they could fend it off with a slingshot. stupid kings <3

16. when hopper goes to put food in the dropbox in the woods for el, he puts like... a single small tupperware full of something and like two or three eggos. he gives her like a single meal’s worth of food. is he going out there two or three times a day? is he just feeding el like fucking nothing? why doesn’t he give her anything besides food? i get that for cinematic reasons they wanted to make sure we saw him very slowly placing eggos in the box, but like... bro. she’s a child living in the woods. stop holding out on her goddamn.

17. speaking of hopper the whole part where he and joyce trudge through the upside down was so boring and drawn out... maybe if the upside down had more going on it would have been engaging, but it was mostly just like ughhhh are they there yet???

18. one great part of that, though, is when joyce goes through the byers house and jonathan recognizes that it’s her. you can like see the colored lights reflecting off of the tears in jonathan’s eyes and it’s so good.

19. will was just puking up slugs at christmas dinner and i feel like they never. addressed that in s2. like he was literally vomiting slugs into the bathroom sink and they just forgot about it

20. STONATHAN STANATHANS LISTEN UP: we know steve bought jonathan the camera, but do we all recall that steve was IN THE HOUSE when nancy gave it to jonathan? they were both in the wheeler house. steve intentionally asked nancy to deliver the camera to jonathan and not mention him. they were in the same house. perhaps even the same room. yes these are scraps but this is what we thrive off of

Byeler Head cannons

[WARNING: long post ahead but if you love Byeler as much as I do you’ll read]

The Halloween of 1984 starts with a new feeling after their ‘crazy together’ promise and it was also kind of a confession

“Crazy together?” ‘Crazy together’

Mike and Will kiss behind the bleachers and then Mike asks Will to be his boyfriend. Will was the one to ask Mike to meet him there, Mike immediately panics and is ready to apologize but Will shuts him up with a kiss. Will knew Mike would act all weird after what happened over the weekend; they had sex -happened during their sophomore year over the summer- Mike felt horrible about it, not because regret doing it but because he wished it had happened in better conditions, he wanted to go slow because it was the boy he loved and because it was Will. They had done it in the clearing near the tree house there were fireflies

They love horror movies they devour them, making conspiracy theories linking them all together, they made fun of the characters and how fake the blood and special effects look. Meanwhile Dustin is chanting a frantic ‘lalalala’ while covering his ears, Lucas tries to act tough but flinches with every jump scare, Max and Jane are under the blankets

To one up the others Mike ditches last period and comes back once school ends and everyone is leaving, he comes back with a CD player playing ‘Africa’ by Toto is blasting with Mike singing right along with it, and even though they planned it together, Will can’t help but blush and silence Mike with a kiss

They totally have this, “I’M GOING TO SCREAM TO THE WORLD THAT I LOVE YOU” ‘Mike no-’ he comes closer and whispers “I love you” ‘what? I thought you were going to-’ extreme blush ‘Mike’ he scolds and buries his face in Mike’s chest while he’s laughing, thing going on / Also, the, ‘I can fit the whole world in my hands’ “Will that’s impossible, do you know how big-” Will cups Mike’s face and kisses his nose ‘you are my whole world’ and leaves a very flushed Mike behind, thing

First kiss? They were in the school way past hours -Will forgot his art supplies and Mike his notebook and he couldn’t afford another 70- they almost got caught and hid in the janitor’s closet. Their hearts drumming with adrenaline from almost getting caught and being so close to each other. Maybe one leaned down and the other had to tip-toe a little but they made it, they were kissing slowly, just testing, experimenting. Until Will encircled Mike’s neck with shaky arms and Mike passed an unexperienced arm around the others waist. When they couldn’t breathe nor hear anything but their beating hearts, they opened the closet door. Mike offered to take Will home but all the way there an uncomfortable silence settled between them because, what were they supposed to say? So, when they awkwardly waved each other goodbye Will was the one to stop Mike, cup his face and kiss him, either goodnight, goodbye or thank you it didn’t matter. Other kisses? After that first one the others are a little more awkward -them being a little more self-conscious- is butting noses and awkward eye contact but they still can’t help but blush and feel millions of butterflies / I gave him a huge smile and kiss his lips. I feel him smile into the kiss and grab my waist, pulling me into his lap. He continues to kiss me while I play with the hair at the back of his head; he pulls away and immediately hugs me

Byeler forever staying in the honeymoon phase -and while at it Mike couldn’t help but talk non-stop about how amazing Will is “Ew! Dude that’s gay!” ‘It’s not! It’s true!’ “Truly gay”

When they fight, they go for r e a l s, draws a glass of water ‘here’ stamps it on Mike’s face ‘drink up pretty boy’ gets up and starts to leave “fuck you Byers!” Flips him off ‘you would love to wouldn’t you?/I’d love to see you try!’ / ‘get your shit and leave!’ “Fine!” Puts on coat and carries Will out the door ‘Elmax: did he just-’ / they are fighting over a movie, Will thought he had already seen it but Mike said he didn’t. Will was ready to physically fight so Lucas and Dustin were restraining him, he told Mike to get out -the party couldn’t believe it, he even yelled at Jane for trying to interfere and Max stood up for her gf but Will gave her such a cold stare that froze her in place, Will was always coping with Mike’s bullshit to go nuts over this- so yeah this has been their biggest argument. But they also have fights that look more like flirting ‘you learned your lesson?’ “Oh, yes, I’m sorry, please don’t beat me up with your flowers and paintbrushes!” ‘You better run’ / “what? No! Whatever” ‘whatever what?’ “Whatever you say” ‘whatever I say?’ “Shut up” and kisses him / “and where do you think you’re going mister?” He says raising an eyebrow. He releases my arm and I bolt upstairs. He chases after me due to him being so much taller than me. He grabs my waist and pulls me into him in a hug. He lifts me up and swings me over his shoulder and he walks back to the basement

Songs? ‘I stole your love’ by Kiss, ‘Africa’ by Toto, ‘Stay’ by Hurts, ‘how deep is your love?’ by Bee Gees, ‘We are gonna be friends’ by The White Stripes -it’s the first song Mike learns in the guitar-, ‘Moon dust’ by Jayme’s Young, ‘I’ve got a huge crush on you’ by SNCKPCK -Will knows how to play the ukulele-, ‘I like you’ by Dandelion Hands -is the follow up from Mike to Will’s song-, ‘Just fine’ by Spookyghostboy -Will —> Mike-, ‘Sleepover’ by Hayley Kiyoko -Mike <—> Will-, ‘Wild’ by Troye Sivan, ‘I melt with you’ by Modern English

Dancing in the kitchen? Yes, all the time more in the mornings when Will is lazily cooking breakfast and the radio is softly playing on the background -the others usually watch with heart eyes and refer to them as mom and dad- Will and Mike are slow dancing to imaginary music and the rest watching from the living room, they start to kiss ‘Ew! Mummy and Daddy are kissing!’ Jopper comes in all confused because they barely got up when Hopper sees what’s going on he gets all protective and separates them “better keep your distance Wheeler” he threatens and Mike gives a loud gulp and Will pouts with his arms crossed over his chest

Prom? “Nice tux Byers, who picked it out for you? Your mom?” ‘Why, well thank you, and yes she did should I send her your compliments?’ Wraps his arms on Will’s middle and whispers to the shell of his ear “Yeah tell her she gave birth to a damn fine son” fake gasp ‘Wheeler!’ Everything is flirting and that was just the begging of the night

First time saying ‘I love you’? Mike and Will are kissing on the outside picnic tables -Fags!- Will rolls his eyes and stands up ‘come say it to my face!’ -bet you’d like it better if I said it to your asshole- ‘what a coincidence I was just talking to one’ eyes him up and down, silence, the bull clicks his tongue and leaves with his hands in his pockets “wow Will you shut him up real good” ‘I’m just tired of being everyone’s punch bag’ “I love you”

They hold hands under the table

Confession? “I really like you” ‘really?’ Nods ‘holy shit’ laughs and leans in to hug him and kiss the other boys’ forehead

When they chill in Mike’s basement usually Will is under the coffee table drawing and Mike is on the couch with his feet propped on the coffee table -they are a creative duo- Will draws and Mike makes the new campaign

Moving out? They get their own little place at 20. They’re too lazy to unpack so they place a blanket on their empty living room and have dinner, they dance to ‘rebel yell’ and are filled with happiness because this is theirs. When there is, nothing left to do, they throw themselves on their mattress and look at each other. They move to New York, there having good universities for both, they don’t go to the same one though, but Mike’s always there at the end of the day

First date? They’re shy and awkward, they spent their first date in castle Byers cuddling and talking softly ’til three in the morning. Other dates? They wanted to go to a roller skating ring, instead they slid on the Wheeler’s kitchen floor with their socks, and they put any song and can sing any song at the top of their lungs. When Nancy goes down to yell at them she sees Byeler slow dancing with Will standing on Mike’s feet as they sing an off-tune Sinatra to themselves and she can’t seem to bring herself to be mad / They typically have afternoon dates in the others house, they kiss, hug and laugh. They tell each other bad jokes and watch black and white movies with no sound so they invent the dialogue / Once Dustin joked about Will having a girl’s body and they took it too literal trying to dress Will as a girl to go on an actual date so they asked Jane and Max to give him a make-over. Jane was excited and Max was skeptic at first but still helped. When Mike came to pick his date, he was really nervous “oh sorry guys I didn’t know you guys had someone over” the girls giggled and were recording everything Will giggled and got up ‘it’s me Mike, do I really look that different?’ Mike saw the sky-blue dress with white pock-a-dot dress and the wig that went to Will’s waist with a single braid on the back and he soon started blushing and stammering compliments. Stonathan was casually coming in and said ‘careful Mike your heart eyes are showing’ but didn’t comment on Will’s make over. The girls thought it was cute and wanted to try so they dressed Jane in Will’s clothes and they went out together

Pet names? For Will: baby boy, babe, cutie; For Mike: baby, grumpy, freckles, love, bae

Shopping? Mike thinks he is so smug and actually places small snack on the shopping kart and Will either pretend to not notice or puts them back -because even though Mike is smug he is much better- the face Mike makes when they’re in the cashier is just comical but Will is weak and can’t see his lover sad so he buys him a candy bar. When they go to the mall Will always laughs at Mike’s outfits decisions and criticizes him

Their last Snowball before High school they wanted to slow-dance but they didn’t want to be judged so they went to the restroom and slow danced there -they were a little awkward at first and blushed by seeing their reflection in the mirror, it was the first time noticing their height difference. They danced to ‘how deep is your love?’ And it kind of became their song

‘I’m so hungry I’d sell you for a pizza’ “what kind of pizza?” ‘Meat and pepperoni’ soft gasp and glittery eyes “babe”

‘Mike it’s just one weekend’ pouts “too long” he holds onto Will’s bag -his family was going upstate for the weekend and Max and Steve were bugging the others to stay-

Will underestimates himself and can never seem to talk back, he just lets other people walk over him and never saw himself as good looking. Mike, whenever Will is feeling that way towards his body, he puts him in front of a mirror and points all of the things he likes about him and makes sure to kiss him and complement him

“Get a room!” Seems to be everyone’s one liner for them. Once while riding on Jane’s Beetle -they had to sit on each other’s legs, Mike and Lucas totally don’t mind- “Max, can you go faster before they start making out next to us?” ‘Max, could you go slower so me and Will can make out next to them?”

Once Will calms down from a nightmare and neither want to go to sleep they talk science -the cosmos, technology and books- they are total nerds and one night they learn cryptography and send each other encrypted love letters in class

School? in middle school they took every opportunity to sit together, they do homework together -even if they don’t have classes together- they hog the line for hours, they secretly held pinkies in the hallway and if Mike is feeling brave he kissed Will behind his locker door -they keep doing that in HS- / in Hs they don’t have any classes together until Junior and Senior year / They go to the rooftop and Will has some pictures of the scenery and Mike has a few of Will drawing the scenery / They tutor each other and also use that time to make out a little

If they don’t like a food they just give it to the other, also Mike has this thing where he feeds Will it always confuses the other but Will low-key loves it

Dominance? Everyone would say neither in an instant because they influence each other’s decisions so much, but it all depends on whose angle you see it, and what you mean by it

Valentine’s day? Yeah Mike doesn’t believe in it, he says it’s a way for the companies to make more money, so they don’t celebrate it not the day they wait a week or so until the candy is half the price and then just chill in Will’s room listening to romantic mix tapes and lots of cuddles and make out sessions

Hugs? Since the height difference is really noticeable Mike holds Will by the waist and Will holds him from his neck. I put my arms around his neck, pulling him closer. He returns the hug and placed his arms around my lower waist. I put my chin in his shoulder and breathe in his scent. I feel him trying to pull me closer. ‘If you try to pull me any closer, I’ll be on your lap’ he giggles and holds me tighter “I wouldn’t mind that” he said in a flirty tone

Cuddling? Will had his head in Mike’s chest with his arms curled up next to him and Mike has one arm wrapped around him

Collages? Will has a wall full of pictures and on another wall, he has a ‘who wore it better’ wall. It all started when they shared a red sweater and they each took a picture with it, in the middle of the wall there is a picture of Will with a black skirt and a blue plaid shirt. They have pictures of all the party since they share clothes quite often
