I have a question! I'm looking for fanfiction where Hermione and Severus have to marry, this is after the war, and both work at Hogwarts. Their marriage isn't a secret and they both sort of have a sexless marriage until a redhead teacher joins the staff and starts flirting with Severus. Hermione winds up in the bedroom and overhears him defend their marriage to the other woman. Do you guys know that one, its AO3.

Honestly, I've been looking for this for weeks because this is right up my alley. But I'm struggling. I'm going to put it out there and see if any of our readers recognize it?

Can we talk about how awesomely written Ominis's blindnesses is? The fact he uses his wand to guide himself around and isn't seen as stupid and is capable of taking care of his friends and himself.

Yes, I love it so much! It's not the focus of his character at all. It's just one part of him. It has little to do with his storyline, which I honestly adore because it's awesome to have a character with a disability whose motivations and interactions don't revolve around that disability. It's never hidden or disregarded, but it's never the center of who he is either. There's so, so, so much more to him than that. And it's not something that's tragic or ever portrayed as a negative thing. It doesn't hinder him. He can hold his own in a fight easily and he isn't treated differently by anyone. But it also isn't shown to be a strength either. It simply is what it is which I love. And I like that Ominis appears to be very neutral about it. It makes sense. He was born that way. He's never known anything different, so to him, it's just normal and he treats it as such.

Ok. First of all, I am obsessed with Lionheart. You are amazing and I could sing your praises for hours. However, I have a question regarding Wolfstar. Your fic was actually the first time I came across that ship. (I know now it's really popular). However, I would love to hear more about your thoughts on Remus and Sirius. Whether it's canon or your interpretation of them. I always found Tonks and Remus to be a strange couple in the HP books. Was that your impression as well? How do you think a romantic relationship between the two characters changes them, if it does at all? Thanks!

I think Remus and Tonks getting together suffers from the same thing that a lot of canon relationships do, i.e., that JKR doesn't really know how to write romantic chemistry. There are very few times in the books where it feels like there's genuine sexual or romantic tension happening on the page. So that's layer 1.

Layer two is that Remus and Tonks aren't themselves on the page for most of Books 5-7, so their "love story," as such, is 90% exposition. The only scenes we get of them as a couple are Tonks scolding Remus for not dating her and Remus guiltily shooting her down. It also seems out of character for Remus, who is defined in many ways by his attachment to the past and who has been living out of Sirius's pockets for two years, to show little or no apparent grief at the death of his best friend of twenty years, not to mention one of the last people alive who loved James Potter. Harry grieves Sirius more than Lupin seems to, and Harry knew Sirius for about five minutes compared to Lupin. That's not to say that grief always looks the same — it's different, and I'm sure Lupin compartmentalized it for the war effort — but it should, in theory, stop you from jumping into a high-intensity relationship with your dead best friend's niece. (If you look at the timeline on Tonks and Lupin's relationship vis-a-vis Sirius's death, it is absolutely wild.)

The Wolfstar in Lionheart is subtle, but as overt as I thought was realistic for two men who hadn't seen each other in years and are also, by necessity, only seen by the reader in the presence of their thirteen-year-old godson. I wanted to capture the energy of "closeted on-again off-again lovers in the 70s and 80s before having a VERY messy breakup" (which, believe it or not, is a broader demographic than you'd think), both because I think it's a fun way to write them (the vibes! the possessiveness! the old-married-couple meets shy-first-relationship of it all!) and because it explains why Lupin is totally alone before Prisoner of Azkaban — in particular, why he never made an effort to contact Harry. It's hard enough to be a closeted man in Britain in the 1980s; throw in a case of lycanthropy and an insane amount of personal trauma, and what you've got on your hands is the kind of guy who'd go totally radio silent on everyone he knows for 13 straight years.

#the fact that harry never once wonders why lupin didn't reach out to him before 1993 is 'haha dumb funny' until it's 'oh fuck me sad' #because you realize. harry thinks it is totally reasonable for people to not want to talk to him or see him. #harry does not ever question why people in his life leave him because in his mind he is not worthy of being kept #why would he be? he was raised by people who couldn't wait to get rid of him #he probably doesn't blame lupin for trying to pass the buck #i go into this a little in The Climb (my severitus novelette) #but basically i think dumbledore puts harry with the dursleys because it's predictable and dumbledore can control them #he can intimidate petunia and he knows for a fact both dursleys are afraid of magic #whereas once the marauders are gone dumbledore doesn't have any leverage over lupin #none that he's willing to use anyway — the werewolf thing is probably a non-starter #but the werewolf thing also means lupin's location and occupation is unstable and he would always be scrutinized by the ministry #and dumbledore knows that it is a Very Bad Fucking Idea to let the ministry know where harry is #until it's time for him to come to hogwarts where dumbledore can protect him. ANYWAY

Demetrius has been hanging out around the Bell Tower Courtyard for quite some time now. He is waiting for @ask-garreth-weasley and the only reason the wizard came here earlier was that he had nothing better to do, his classes done for the day. The weather went from simply cloudy to rainy to almost sunny in a short period of time. The little alcoves on the left-hand side after leaving the tower sheltered him from the rain while it lasted.

Not that Meech is bothered by the rain. His broom, however, is already in a rather miserable state as it was put together from at least two completely different brooms. As of right now Meech is sitting not far from the wall, his cloak is thrown to the ground: Demetrius does not particularly care if it gets wet while he is tinkering with the broom.

To somebody who is not familiar with the flying brooms, this one might seem rather normal. Meech made sure all the wooden components are fitted snuggly into the metal coil surrounding the head of the broom at its base. A dark red rope is encircling the lower part of the handle to make it sturdier until Meech saves up enough coins for a better saddle. Not a thread out of line, not a twig the wrong length, not a speckle of dirt present. The only problem with his broom now is that it cannot actually fly. Not yet.

With an old but rather sharp-looking pocket knife in his capable hands, the Gryffindor is carving out a barely visible intricate pattern on the handle, his mind elsewhere.
