Germaine Lubin talks about her career.

Aged 75, the French soprano Germaine Lubin spoke in 1965 of her immense career which, between the two world wars, made her one of the stars of the Paris Opera under the brilliant direction of Jacques Rouché, and also saw her appearing at the Bayreuth Festival in 1938 and 1939.

Lubin Korrigan

Nose: Thomas Fontaine

Notes: cognac, saffron, juniper berries; ambrette, whiskey, lavender; leather, oud, musk, cedar, vetiver

Korrigan is a sticky caramel gourmand. After a minute the ambrette comes in, adding a little musky softness to cut the sugar.

There’s a “masculine” woody-amber aromachemical underneath, taking this to a “men in suits with scotch and leather-bound menus” place.

I find it cloying and obnoxious, like all the Lubin scents in fact. Far too sweet, and too chemically harsh.
