I guess I better make y’all aware of them before Disney comes to break my legs!
I’ve been steady developing a disco-era adult (age, not rating) Luca fanfic as a passion project since late 2021. I think it’s safe to say it’s consumed my life but I regret nothing!
I’m more active on IG (same name) but I’m going to try and participate here more.
Lots of “TED Talks/ramblings”, design notes, and art here.
Ok so Luca Clips have been showing up on my TikTok fyp and it’s mostly the start of the movie, which has me thinking about the start and noticing little things… anyways
Alberto seems to already know about the other sea monsters’ fear of the surface/humans as he is not at all surprised by Luca’s overreaction to the change, just nonchalantly saying “First time?” to all that screaming and kicking Luca did, and I think Alberto, as a thief, has actually capitalised on this fear because why else would he disguise himself as a human with the diving suit and harpoon when searching for stuff to take underwater?
He’s either 1: making sure no sea monsters go near “his” stuff like Luca did, or 2: he’s also stealing from sea monsters occasionally, which would maybe help explain why he never went to try and live in the village. I wouldn’t put it past him either as he just so casually stole Luca’s shepherd stick without a second thought.
And you know he wouldn’t have cared about not giving it back cause he only gave it back after Luca was nice to him and when he knew Luca would be coming back to the surface anyway. It’s like a trade almost, “you be my (boy)friend and you can keep your stick” 😭
Like after Luca says “Good day” to him, he looks down at the stick and ROLLS HIS EYES before getting up to give it back to Luca. I know like what an inconvenience Alberto, having to give back the thing you STOLE 🙄 /lh
also he uses the stick later in Ciao Alberto, I know it’s a cute Luberto thing, but also I think Alberto just really likes that stick and is happy it’s now “his” 😭
Check out Part 1 of my ongoing series below. It originally was going to be a stand alone story, but I had to split it up due to the length. It’s longer than I thought.
I did @ sheechu_ ‘s (On Instagram) DTIYS! I just drew the happy dancing part because my heart can’t handle angst at the moment. 😂 Might try my hand at drawing deep sea Luca later! I love this AU!
So cute ☹️ they're literally just shopping and looking at stuff together at a market, but that is everything to me.
They'd definitely be the type to touch and look and everything, but not buy anything. OR they would buy a bunch of stuff that they think is cool, but really don't need 💀
(Found this off pinterest, this is from an activity book where they're trying to find the perfect gift for Guilia !! )
I think I’ve got a pretty good estimate of the swim speed of a sea monster from Luca
First thing I needed was some way of determining how fast they were able to go at a certain time. Thankfully Luca has fish that his family farm. While these fish themselves are not a real species, there is a very compelling substitute: The Gilt-Head Bream.
This fish is very common all throughout the Mediterranean, it eats plant material (like we see Luca’s fish do) and it lives around 0-30m deep and near seagrass beds (exactly where Luca lives) it also is quite popular to eat so that’d explain why Luca’s family farm them, and while not too important it also looks like Luca’s goat-fish
Now the problem with determining Luca’s speed is that most fish speeds are really only estimates. So finding speed references for the gilt-head bream was a pain in the ass but I found a study putting them at about 2.448km/h (the study didn’t have a massive sample so take that with a grain of salt)
That sounds slow, until you compare it to the average human, who is estimated to have a swim speed of 2.1km/h and the max speeds the best of the best can reach unassisted is about 8-10km/h
As for our sea monster max speed, I decided to compare to similarly shaped animals and the most similar in my opinion, is crocodiles.
I decided to be realistic and go with one of the slower ones, the saltwater crocodile, who has a max speed range of 24-29km/h. I also decided to lower the sea monster speed just because 1. They’re rounder so not as good at cutting through water and 2. They also don’t really need to go quite as fast since they’re not hunting.
So my estimations for a sea monster swim speed is anywhere between 2.448km/h to 20km/h.
Meaning even if he wasn’t really trying, say putting in as much effort as jogging, Luca would easily win the swimming aspect of the portorosso cup.
I said it before, fanfiction really unlocks new metaphors and similes for me and I’m sure for other people. This is from my last chapter of Part 1 of my fanfic To The Ocean And Back.
