Count us In
The theme for the 2020 Count us In campaign is to advance participation in HTC (Hard-to-Count) populations across Baltimore city. The Count Us In Challenge invites #NHENT members and non-members to submit a 60-120 second video discussing what full participation in the Baltimore city 2020 Census should, could, or does look like in neighborhoods and communities for citizens. Participants should explain how their recommendations would advance full participation in Baltimore city response rate for the Census. Lastly, #NHENT is looking for talented and well-rounded acts with unique perspectives.
GOALS
The Count us In Video Challenge has several goals. Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori - Horace . Today we will hold dear to our hearts those who gave their lives to serve our nations. . . Papaver rhoeas (common names include common poppy, corn poppy, corn rose, field poppy, and others) is a common field weed. . The Poppy became the symbol of lost lives in Great Britain and the Commonwealths on November 11, Remembrance Day, inspired by Canadian John McCrae’s poem of grief. In Flanders Fields. . In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. . We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields. . Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. . . In the United States the American Legion adopted Poppy Day the Friday before Memorial Day to serve to honor the fallen. . The disturbances made by trench warfare during WWI gave fertile ground for this early summer wild flower to thrive. . Poppies make a remarkably high amount of pollen, though it is not wind born - so not an allergen - it provides important food for pollen grazing insects. . We sowed these poppies in the ground last year and I am surprised at how glorious their blooms and how touched I am to see them every day, keeping in mind, Horace’s simple admonition. . It is sweet and noble for you to die for your country. . . . #memorialDay #poppyDay #poppydayphotography #marylandBlogger #marylandLife #chesapeakeBay #memorial #inflandersfields #poetryandphotography #botanyphotography #flowersymbolism #botanylovers #goldenhourphotography #sunsetlight #goldenmoments #poemsofinstagram #flowersofinstagram #flowerstagram #wildflowersofinstagram #meadowflowers I wrote this last year, and I am proud of the thoughts I put down here - Leah (at In Flanders Fields) https://www.instagram.com/p/CeMfCVOJnkE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
