Adventures in Levena is a queer urban fantasy series, beginning with Phantom and Rook. Each book focuses on a different couple and aspect of Levena, but they're all interconnected.

There are currently eight books planned, including two prequels. Can anyone guess who the third one is about with a few emojis? 🩸🌑🔭📚

Phantom and Rook is the story of when an immortal falls in love with a witch, and has cozy fantasy vibes. Think of this one as an introduction into Levena and the main crew.

Matsdotter and Adrastus is the story of when a human falls in love with an archdemon, and has dark academia vibes. We get a deeper look into demon and angel culture in Levena in this one, and world lore.

When Witches Sing is a Yuletide novella, taking place after the events of Phantom and Rook. It's half short stories and half 'current events' and introduces some new characters.

“Most people don’t have a great whirlwind romance that’s an end all, be all. Or maybe they did, in the beginning, but for one reason or another it didn’t work out. But that doesn’t … that doesn’t make those relationships less important. A person’s first may not be their last, but that doesn’t take away from the impact of that first love.”

“Like a stepping stone,” Elochian says quietly, watching me.

“Right, yeah. That’s the bit I was working on last night. I don’t have all the pieces, just a vague idea. A character, kind of. I don’t know, I think we need more stories that focus on the big picture. The stepping stones, and the person they bring you to.”

Elochian smiles, then looks away. The movement hollows me out, and I have no idea why. When he looks back, there’s that safety guard. He’s still paying attention to me, but there’s … I don’t know, distance. He says, “I like it. I think you’re onto something.”

And then he changes everything. His fingers twitch, and his black painted nails trace against the back of my own fingers.

Working on the sequel to this beauty today, and I have some news! ✍️📚

The cover for Matsdotter and Adrastus is ready for lettering and I'm hoping to reveal it in the next couple weeks ! It is GORGEOUS, and I am so grateful to @foxglovefaun for bringing it to life. If you aren't following her yet, you really should be, her OC Ross is my beloved, that's all there is to it. ✨❤️🎨

Also, we have a full title, but I'll be saving that for the cover reveal. 😉

I do have some unfortunate news, but I've been doing a lot of thinking and decided to be kind to myself. I'm pushing the release date back one month, to January 2nd 2024. With that being said, I will be still using the original date of December 5th to send out ARCS.

In the past few months I've suffered a few bouts with depression along with other things, and it really set me back. I don't want to rush through this story, as I've done that before and regretted it. I always felt like I was falling behind, losing in a competition that doesn't really exist. But the indie author community, and the readers who read indie, are nothing but supportive, and understanding. We hold each other up, and recognize that we are in fact humans.

I want to provide the best story as possible, and I'm so excited. This is really a deep dive into Levena, and we're going to see different sides of the characters we know and love, meet new ones, and answer questions from the first book.

Quentin waves to me with a gloved hand, jogging down the wet street itself instead of dodging business owners and residents clearing out their places. My heart leaps upon seeing his boots slap against the road doing its best to fight the storm.

What if it’s not thawed all the way? What if the temperature dropped and there’s black ice forming? What if someone tosses a shovelful of snow into the road, and there’s rocks in it and they hit Quentin and—

He makes it to my side and I swallow the emotion built up in my throat, attempting to choke me out. “Be careful.” I snap, then stiffen against the realization of what I’ve done. My wings tremble finely and I grit my teeth against the sensation.

Quentin scratches at his chest and glances back at the way he came. “The road’s better than the sidewalk.” He smiles. “Don’t worry, I’m pretty good on my feet. Hey, Michael. He making you brave the weather?”

Michael chuckles, straightening from the lamppost. “Something like that. Sent home early, hm?”

Quentin shrugs. “Yeah, I don’t even know why they bothered.”

“I wasn’t worried, by the way. It would just be an inconvenience if you broke your neck on such an important day, that’s all.”

Author vs 2023

I published three books, each one in a different series, crafted two special editions, released the Phantom and Room audiobook narrated by Kirt Graves, and the Realm of Giants audiobook narrated by Jacob Buchholz.

I worked with some fantastic artists, including @foxglovefaun who did the Matsdotter and Adrastus cover, Fantasy Sprite Studios who did the special edition covers of The Eternal Machine and Realm of Giants, and some Lysander fan art. Another year and more gorgeous @gagakumadraws to add to the roster, including The Rebel Foxes cover, Silas art, and chibi stickers of Quentin and Elochian. Last but not least, Thatch Phantom art by trxvonn_ on IG, which I love with all my heart.

I had the opportunity to work with some other great creators that I currently can't name, but you know who you are 👀👀

I connected with SO MANY fellow authors, began work on a collaborative project, and had the privilege of seeing my books fill up library shelves and take space on Libby.

And my dear readers. Where did you all come from? Whether you've been here since the beginning or you're brand new, I appreciate each and every one of you. You make it all worth it.

I'm planning on releasing two books next year, one in early summer and the other in late fall, and sprinkling short stories in between. I've been running full speed since I began this journey, and it's about time I slow down. I'm always afraid I'll fall behind, that I won't be relevant because I don't release as quickly as some authors. But that's not the case, and to give the best stories that I can I've decided slow and steady is the way to go.

No matter what we do, each night ends the same way.

Laying in bed together. Our hands clasped between us, legs entangled and lips ever so close. We talk about everything and nothing, breathing in each other’s words. And then, one of us falls asleep. Most of the time I succumb first, I can’t help it.

But sometimes, I get the rare pleasure of watching Elochian lose his battle. I love the way his lashes flutter and quiver as his eyelids finally shutter closed. The way his fingers twitch as he falls into a deeper sleep.

The way he pulls me close to him, groaning a little when our bodies finally align.
