“Black Panther Wakanda Forever” has a supporting cast of actors and actresses, without whom the story may not have been as effective. Sure, our main leads and the secondary characters are cool and awesome, and the story is amazing, but it’s people like the ones above who play small but very important roles in the story.
Having a young boy witness the trauma of his people be subject to horrors no child should be privy to, and hold on to that fear and rage with a grip so tight it transforms into vengeance that burns within a god-king hell-bent on protecting his people… little Manuel Chavez may not have been onscreen long, but his presence very much informed the charismatic K’uk’ulkan who is both filled with rage and kindness in equal measure.
Like Manuel, Irma-Estel LaGuerre and María Mercedes Coroy may not have been onscreen much, but their portrayal of a mother who, for the sake of her unborn son, must ingest a concoction to save both her and her people from the raging fires of colonialism resonates with many. In the film, K’uk’ulkan wonders what it is like to be a people in a pristine land who never have to leave. His mother loved him, cared for him, and wished for him to bury her in the land she loved so much, even if it was being desecrated by people who most certainly did not belong there to begin with. LaGuerre and Coroy portrayed a woman who had so much love to give, yet lost so much; it is to nobody’s surprise that her son adopted the name “Namor”, itself shortened from “el niño sin amor”, the child without love.
Without Josué Maychi, there may well not have been the inclusion of the Yucatec Mayan language in the film. Maychi’s role as the shaman who was guided by a god to retrieve a plant grown in Vibranium-rich soil to heal his smallpox-afflicted people is very important to the story, as without him, Talokan is as good as nonexistent. It is thanks to the shaman that Talokan was able to thrive as we see it do in the film.
María Telón Soc portrays a Mayan elder in the film. Her role, though small, is crucial as she is one of the guiding forces who help convince K’uk’ulkan mother to ingest the herbal drink to save her and her unborn son. Like the other actors and actresses mentioned above, she may not have been onscreen for long, but her presence informs the decisions we see the other Mayan-Talokanil make.

Sheridan: well, to be honest, I’m a hetero guy, but I really try to be a good ally- and it ain’t no secret, lemme tell you why-
Sheridan: it’s because I love my wife, and my wife is bi.
Sheridan: also.
Sheridan: everyone on this station is SO gay. just. SO gay. all the time. my first wife? gay. my second wife’s false persona? gay. my wife? gay. the rest of the command staff? gay. ambassadors? gay. their attachés? even gayer. telepaths? gay. Rangers? gay. that Morden guy? gaaaaaaaay.
Sheridan: for the record, I mean that lovingly. just to be clear: I do support gay rights. and gay wrongs. just not from that Morden guy. or Bester.

Mayans Spoilers
So....
Angel and Ez never found out Miguel was their brother
Miguel never found out the real reason why his mother died
Emily never found out why Miguel tried to kill her
Angel never found out Luisa was killed
They killed off a pregnant woman
Letty hates MCs but joined one apparently?
Everyone else in the club presumably died
I’m probably missing a lot more things but my brain feels liquified after watching this
I should’ve never given this show a second chance after they killed Coco

I was bummed that they moved Ironheart to 2024 because I was hoping Manny would do promo for it and get asked about Good Girls. I want to know what Manny would say about Christina. I want to see if we get any new crumbs!
Oh, wow, I hadn't realised it was taking that long for Ironheart to come out! I know there'll be a ton of VFX, but two years in post feels like a lot.
It'll be interesting to see how much press he does for it. He's billed for all six episodes, but I suspect he's likely supporting as opposed to a lead given the press focus so far has been more on Dominique Thorne (of course!) and Anthony Ramos. As for whether or not he's asked about Good Girls - maybe! I can't really see him giving anything but a generic answer. He tends to be pretty professional on press tours; he saves his more pointed comments for podcasts and social media, haha.

Okay, was anybody going to tell me that Namor is in the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer, or was I just supposed to find out by actually watching the trailer myself?

Tonight! I’m grateful to share my directorial debut of @MayansFX with you. I’m grateful for our stalwart, creative, resourceful, brilliant and hilarious crew. I’m grateful for an ensemble of actors who pay the price, elevate the moments, live in the present and are profoundly generous and inspired artists. I’m grateful to Elgin James, a discerning, patient and giving mentor, who allowed me to pick his brain, look over his shoulder, shadow him for multiple episodes and gifted me a beautifully complex and poetic script. I’m grateful to @fxnetworks @disney and @20thcenturystudios for this  opportunity and for their unwavering support of our show for four seasons. For all of those who contributed to this episode and to those who’ve indulged my curiosity for storytelling along the way…thank you. It was my great good fortune to help tell this story. Hope you enjoy our Episode 408, familia. Let’s ride!

remember that teenage rebellion is a necessity for societal growth, just as reflection is a necessity for societal growth. and in those actions, joy may be found, if not made.

When Tenoch Huerta hugged and kissed a Latine reporter’s head after bringing them to welling emotions when he said:
“The only thing I want is the next time little boys and girls [in Latine countries] see themselves in the mirror, that they feel proud of that reflection. That they see that there was never anything wrong with them, but rather in the eyes of those who judged them.”
When Tenoch Huerta of Nahua and Purépecha Indigenous ancestry said this in a cast interview for Wakanda Forever:
“...We have in Latin America, two main roots: which is the Indigenous roots, of course, and African roots. The food, the customs, the music, even our way of life has a strong influence from African cultures. So for me it’s important to see it [in the movies]; I mean this character [Namor] comes from Meso-American inspiration, particularly Mayan and, of course, is an interpretation of those cultures. But at the same time, we can feel close [to it] because all the process to get us “mixed” is just a way to erase our Indigenous heritage and they taught us to feel ashamed of who we are. For 500 years!”
When long-time actor--since 2006--and advocate, Tenoch Huerta published a book (paperbacks set to release December 13 but digital copies available now!!!) titled Orgullo Prieto (Brown Pride) that is a reflection on racism and colorism in Mexico. He has also gifted his voice for the audibook narration of these books: La sombra de Miztlán [The Shadow of Miztlán]; Las Venas Abiertas de América Latina [The Open Veins of Latin America]; and Los Narcos Gringos [The Gringo Drug Traffickers] (Spanish Edition).
And when Tenoch reiterated:
“It’s not common in Mexico, in Latin America that a brown-skinned guy could be the main character and have a lead role in movies. And then I jumped to the U.S. and I did it here [with Wakanda Forever] and it’s powerful and deep, and I hope the kids in their homes can feel identified. And I’d just say to them never, never in the life was nothing wrong with you, it was in the eyes of the people who was looking at you. But not [as in nothing being wrong] in you, not in your skin, not in your roots, not in your blood, not in your history. So please, babies, feel proud.”
He is also a mental health advocate and champion for the sciences. He has said all the YouTube channels he follows are science, historian or philosophy-related. If this man didn’t already have me in a choke-hold I swear to fucking god-
