I really don’t want to make a huge issue out of this, but the SCM fandom is a really tiny, so I feel like y’all will be more inclined to listen, especially since this isn’t just my problem.

My art was being used by someone without my knowledge and I’ve noticed one of my mutuals had something they created snatched as well and I wanted to address the entire fandom about why this isn’t a polite thing to do to people who put time and energy into creating for a fandom.

I’m not calling anyone out by name, just live and learn, please. I’m trying to be nice about it, but it’s serious and I don’t want it to escalate because I’m sure there was no harm intended. But taking things without asking is why creators leave fandoms and I don’t want that to happen in such a small fandom like SCM. We have great people here and I want everyone to be respected all the same.

I’m a nice person and if someone asks me for something, I’m typically not going to say no without a very good reason behind it. But someone used my art without asking. It was just a sketch, so my name wasn’t on it, but even if my name was on it, I wasn’t asked for permission to use it at all.

If I was asked, I probably would’ve said yes, it’s fine to use my art for a meme(I probably would have requested my name be put on the sketch before use though), but I wasn’t asked if someone could make their own thing out of my art. And I’m not in a good mental place, so maybe I’m a little blindsided and more defensive than I’d usually be, but I’m kind of put off by this.

I’m not obligated to draw or write for this fandom or any other fandom; I do it because I like it. I’m speaking for myself, but I’m sure other creators would be inclined to agree.

Again, I’m not trying to stir things up, I’m just bringing awareness to it since this is what was brought to my attention:

I’m not saying you can’t save things for personal enjoyment, but the minute you use something for likes without permission that someone else created, it takes the fun out of it for us. Because I drew that picture. She made that meme. We spent our personal time to do these things and they were just sort of yoinked. (I’m not a memer so I’m not sure how serious meme snatching is, but art snatching is a problem in a lot of fandoms and I was hoping SCM would have avoided it with how small we are.)

You’re lucky Gemini was here to keep me calm, because I’m at such a low right now I wouldn’t have been afraid to slander the entire universe because of this slight inconvenience.

Also, regarding the post I saw, I won't give away what it was, but in regards to it, I want to clarify my thoughts on it.

I don't want to invalidate that post at all. I do get the desire to see more content taking characters seriously in fandom, but at the same time, at the end of the day it's just people having fun.

Obviously, they don't seriously believe characters are that way in canon, they're just goofing around because it's funny.

The key to solving this problem would be very simple, actually. Put the character in question in more serious fic to balance out the memes.

But don't fault the memers, okay?

Mint choco was FREEZING. He thought he was going to get hyperthermia any second now. Yet the only thing that crossed his mind was that, it was terribly hard to practice playing the violn in this condition.

"I'm here with hot Cocoa!"

Thank the witches for Cocoa. Both of them in fact.

"Oh you must be freezing! And all of your hand warmers has gotten cold."

"T-thank you Co-Cocoa"

"Hush hush!! You need to drink it!"

He could never understand how Cocoa could function normally in the cold. Nevertheless he was incredibly thankful.

"My I can only imagine how cold you got!"

Mint choco laughed a bit, putting down the half drunken Cocoa.

"You wanna feel? Your Cocoa warmed me up a bit but I'm still pretty cold. Come!"

She walked over to him quickly, not only to feel how cold he truly was, but to also take the opportunity to snuggle up next to him.

That was, until, she felt how cold his hands truly were.

"OOOoo! Your so cold!"

She jolted her body away from the freezing cold one, trying to warm her on body with her hands, my she didnt expect his hands to be that cold! Mint Choco attempted to laugh, which in his current state was a little hard without shivering.

"Told y-you!"

As Coco jolted back, so did her warmth. Her addicting warmth that came with her body..

He wants her back.. he swore he could feel the heat radiating off her.

"You might need more Coca! I have leftover, I'll make more for later than."

Maybe just a small hug? Just to warm up his body a bit.

"No! No! I'm not, well not yet at least. B-but that's not the point. Could you come here?"

"Like, closer?" She asked, before actually getting closer to the freezing violist.

As she got closer, Mint Choco reached out his freezing hands to grab her, quickly shoving them up her shirt to touch her stomach.

It was just like a few seconds earlier, her body warmth was incredibly warm enough for the violist to melt.

He was so busy melting, to the point he didn't hear his girlfriend squealing and trying to escape.

"Ohohoh Shoohoht! MIIIINT!! YOUR HAHAAHANDS!! IHIHIH CAHAHAHA"

He could care less at the moment, his body was finally getting warmer and it was the only thing on his mind.

Lost in laughter, she gave up, hoping soon she'll get out of this tickle agony.

Focusing.

Mint Choco had a small problem with focusing.

He tries his best to place all his attention to the violin while practicing, but the slightest movement would grab his attention causing him to miss a note or play the wrong one.

It was frustrating to say the least.

He would stay up on free days to train himself not to loose focus. But there was no progress done. He would either get distracted with the window being open, a couple kids playing outside, Vampire chanting something, or the bar door opening.

He swear he's tried everything to keep himself focused but nothing seems to work. That is until Cocoa suggests somthing..

"Are you sure this will work?"

"Mhm! Just start playing!"

"And your not going to tell me what your doing?.."

"It's apart of the exercise! Now come on!"

"Alright Alright!"

Doing as she asked, he started playing the first melody that came to mind. He had it memerized he wouldn't need to worry about forgetting notes.

It seemed to be going just fine, small distraction here and there but it wasn't anything bad enough for him to completely mess up the song.

That was until he felt a poke right in his stomach.

"H-Hey! Your supposed to be helping me-"

"I am!! Now focus!"

"But-"

"Mint Choco!!"

Not wanting to argue with her any further (not like it would go anywhere) he continued, this time being more alert.

Cocoa, noticing this, started to run her hands down his body to ease his nerves.

"Calm down! Your so pent up how are we going to get through this if your so tense!"

She was right, he was never going to get through this if he kept this up. At this moment, all he needed to do was trust her and let whatever happen, happen.

Even if after a few minutes of playing, the pokes made there way back. But this time, Mint Choco tried his best to stay calm.

"NgH-"

"Shhhh!!! Focus Choco! Focus!"

"Ihihm sorhohry! It tickles!"

"Focus!"

After a while Mint Choco got a little used to the small pokes he got at random, even though there were times where his body would completely jolt or the sensation was to quick so he'd accidentally play the wrong note or the whole note would sound like a cat was plucking at the strings of his violn.

He was doing better than before!

"It sounds like your doing better!"

Too focused on the violin, he didn't answer his encouraging girlfriend. He never felt his mind so focused before, all he wanted to do was get this all over with and play the right keys. He felt so tense, but at ease at the same time. He never felt like this before and he wasn't complaining.

Well, she could lighten up on the pinching...

Wait- why us she pinching?

Nevermind that! Why is she scribbling!??

"W-wahahit, cohoho"

"I was trying to encourage you, and you ignored me!"

"You weren't sorry when you ignored me!" She protested, now scribbling into his upper ribs, not giving him the chance to explain himself.

"Hyungie! Hyungie! Hyungiiieeeeee!!!", Beomgyu called, bouncing in his place on the carpeted floor where he was seated, cross legged in front of the large television screen. It was proving a bit difficult to understand and play his favorite game while little, but he couldn't give up yet!

"What?! What?! What?!", Yeonjun popped another seasoned potato chip into his mouth from his spot on the couch without looking up from his phone. He'd stayed behind with his little Gyuie, while the others went out for some fun so he could spend the day together with his favorite little brother after a long week of promotions. But this also proved to be a challenge since they didn't always have a lot in common while Beomgyu was regressed. So there they sat, Beomie playing his game and Yeonjun alone on the couch, watching over him.

"Wanna play with Heeseungie but I don' 'memer how...", the red haired boy pouted, hair flopping a bit when he tilted his head, his pink controller falling to his lap in defeat.

"C'mere bub.", Yeonjun smiled setting his unfinished chips on the table to the left of him. The problem was so simple yet so difficult to his sweet Gyuie's four-year-old brain to figure out. Yeonjun often found little Beomie's innocence and naivety refreshing at times like this. Yeonjun crossed his legs so Beomie could take a seat in his lap, assisting him with the controls so he'd know exactly what to do next time.

"Thankie", Beomie crawled back onto the floor once his friend had been added to his team.

"No hug for Bubbie?", it was Yeonjun's turn to sport a fitting pout. Giggling, Beomie stuck out his tongue before he continued playing his game.

"You're lucky I love you, brat.", Yeonjun crumpled up his now empty bag of chips and tossed it at the boy's head with a chuckle.

Beomgyu could be the epitome of the word 'stress' and the name 'brat' was VERY fitting in Yeonjun's opinion. But he loved his favorite little brother anyways and would care for him until the world crashed and burned even if he lead him to die of a premature heart attack. (Not over exaggerating). When Beomgyu first started regressing, opening up to the members, Yeonjun found himself naturally taking the role of caring for his best friend. While it seemed like a heavy responsibility, he wouldn't change a thing.

Not too long later, Beomie was pouting and throwing a fit. The worst part about his favorite game were the amount of hackers and cheaters and the little one just couldn't comprehend the unfairness.

"Oh, says you, you little cheater.", Yeonjun snorted, absorbed into his phone again. An obnoxious, insulted gasp left the red haired boy's mouth as he whipped his head around toward the big brother he'd surely be disowning.

"Oh? So you're telling me I'm lying?", Yeonjun gave a crooked grin, happy to poke fun at the brat who always did the same to him.

"I never cheat like that!!", Beomie insisted, trying not to giggle and break character, "not as bad as Hyuka...", he mumbled.

"Was that a confession???", Yeonjun smirked, eyebrows flying up. Beomie fidgeted in his spot, ready to take off the instant Yeonjun stood from the couch.

"That's ten minutes of tickling for you!", Yeonjun jumped from his seat but not fast enough to catch his little one who bolted out of the room and down the hall.

"Don break your back, old man!!", Beomie cackled like the gremlin he was, locking himself into Yeonjun's room. Huffing for air when he reached the door, Yeonjun fiddled with the handle.

"So you won't be mad if I order tteokbokki... and eat all of it for myself, right?", Yeonjun listened to the giggles behind the door suppressing his own laughter, “Cause Bubbie can do that easily, ya know-“. Sliding his back down the door as Beomie had done, he found himself a little frustrated by the brat that had locked him out of his own room. Though not long after, the lock quickly clicked and Yeonjun was falling back on his bedroom floor with an “Oof”, the door opening behind him and a fluff of red hair peeking out.

...Christ I hate this Humpty-Dumpty "‘When I use a word, it means just what I choose it to mean" shit people use when talking about and universalizing "fandom".

I do not know how to tell you that; say; the MST3K fandom or the Doom fandom is not the same as fucking Bakudeku shippers or Breaking Bad memers, or that the treatment of toxic behavior as inherent to what fandom means is a great way to sanctify it in the way the worst elements of fandom also want.

Like, glibness aside I understand the concerns, but I’ve also seen people talk about these concerns in a way that isn’t Like That, and it says a lot that so many people just universalize this shit rather than focusing on the actual fucking problem.

If you hate; say; shipping culture or Beige Blank Slates or a percieved stagnation of tastes, just say that! Stop trying to redefine words!

I have a few headcanons for those two separately + their friendship/dynamic

Edd:

Edd is absolutely toxic and I love him for it, he's the physical embodiment of gaslight, gatekeep girlboss. he's such a smug little twat I would hug him til he pops(affectionate). he's a memer, loves quoting memes and probably has a tiktok tbh. he's like a theatre kid and a band kid in the body of an art major. he's a cat person, though he loves dogs too, he's afraid of spiders, bugs and rodents.

I also hc he has ADHD, he's medicated but forgets to take his medication places in case he needs it so is almost never on it. he drinks cola because it seems to help him be able to focus when he needs to and it tastes good. lots of his stims are vocal and are memes, but some others include ruffling his hair, hand flapping, foot tapping, jumping, and snapping his fingers.

he's pansexual and possibly polyam though he's more of dipping his toes in the water, not fully sure yet. it took him a while to figure out his sexuality, he went from thinking he was straight, to questioning being bi once Tord came out as such, to finding the term pansexual and feeling it fit him much better. he's got no gender preference though he loves muscle studs all around.

he has super messy curly hair, he never brushes it though he does wash it, in fact he feels uncomfortable with being dirty and washes every day, sometimes even twice or three times depending on the activities he does that day. he has two moles (that I almost never draw cuz I forgor), one on the side of his neck and one on the back of his thigh. he's insecure about both of them but pretends not to be. he is quite confident otherwise, thinking he's the best and putting himself on a pedestal while pretending he's "super down to earth". though one other thing he's insecure about is his weight, he's naturally chubby from genes from both sides of his family but was bullied for his weight for years. he's not super insecure because his ego is ginormous but he likes to imagine himself with a more muscular body(mostly cuz he thinks muscles are really hot). he likes to make fun of his friends(especially Matt) because it makes him feel better about himself. definitely the friend to force hug you when you tell them not to and do stuff like punch you really hard on the arm for no reason.

Tom:

Tom is non-binary, first of all, with they/he pronouns, they mostly use they/them but are cool with and some days exclusively use he/him. they don't necessarily hate being called masculine terms(man, boyfriend, gentleman, etc) but don't exactly love it either, they prefer androgenous terms(person, partner, etc). they're also demisexual, only being attracted to those they have a close relationship with, of any gender really with no preference. they make indie ska music with their own little covers drawn by him in marker. they don't look amazing because he's not exactly an artist but they like the style of them. I obviously headcanon Tom as black and usually I draw them with their canon hairstyle but recently I draw them with their natural hair more, they bleach and straighten it to give it his canon look but takes little breaks Inbetween to let his scalp breathe a bit. Tom is rather short for an adult, being 5"5, at least shorter than all their friends who are at least average height. everyone obviously makes fun of them for this.

Tom definitely goofs off more than the fandom believes, they're a total goofball, a silly goose, a funny lil fella, they just take a more negative and pessimistic approach to situations. they have major self doubt about pretty much everything and make it everyone else's problem. they probably enjoy a good walk around the London streets with their headphones in, taking in the sights and window shopping. Tom is a dog person but Ringo is his favourite animal, she's too cute to resist. they're afraid of taking things too far and being unloved, also geese because geese are horrifying.

their relationship:

Edd worries about Tom, Tom worries about Edd, though they'd never admit that to each other, they both know the other cares about them. Tom does show Edd more affection and open compassion, more than he ever would with Matt or Tord, than Edd does with him. it's not that Edd doesn't like Tom, he just feels sometimes that their drinking can get in the way of their friendship and make things a lot more stressful for Edd. though it could be said Edd takes advantage of Tom's kindness in their friendship, they both poke fun at each other and mess with each other a bit. a little prank from Tom to Edd, a stab in the arm as payback from Edd to Tom. totally fair and balanced (/s). Edd and Tom have been friends since they were incredibly young children, about 4 or 5, since their parents were friends, Edd knows pretty much everything about Tom and Tom knows pretty much everything about Edd. most of their fights aren't serious and usually end in laughter, though the ones that are more serious are usually dropped pretty quickly. they totally gang up on Matt all the time, especially after Tord left and it was just the three of them 😭 dude picked the wrong life to be ginger tbh but secretly they both acknowledge Matt's really hot lol they hate him so much for it. Tom probably also loves cuddling on Edd's stomach while they watch TV, they're very physically affectionate and almost act like a couple, even going to fancy restaurants together, though at least for the time being, they're just friends.

1. Back To December

The song that all of those "Maybe I'm The Problem" memers conveniently forgot in 2013, despite the fact that it was a single and was accompanied by a beautiful music video. Can we talk about how the fact that there isn't an HD music video in the year of our Lord 2023 is an absolute travesty? That we can't see it snow in her bedroom/everything is wrong/it snows when he's here and it snows when he's gone, or the male actor walk through the snow in sub-zero temperatures in 1080p??? Let's internalize that for a moment.

It's just a beautiful, gorgeous song. The little details make it work: the last word of each verse going up and down, the slight reverb effect on "so good to me, so right", and most importantly the fucking STRINGS and PIANO and OTHER INSTRUMENTS throughout the entire song. The mood is set up for the profound sadness and regret that permeates throughout the song, like you're watching snow fall outside your window and you just start feeling more and more remorseful.

(SIGHS) I'm leaving Tumblr (probably permanently)

I know I just came back and I'm leaving again well I'm really sorry about that but the truth of the matter is it's just posting on Tumblr is much more of a hassle than it used to be and even back when I still was posting on my phone I wasn't having as much fun as I was when I started you could see me not having as much fun and trying to be as respectful as I possibly could because I was getting older I still have my beliefs and I will still fight for what I believe is right but I just I can't do this anymore it's not fun I started this account because I was having a lot of problems at school and at home now those problems are dealt with I'm in a much happier state and I want to focus on being a colorist getting better and better with each passing day sure I'm still the lazy cat that I always have been and I still am a colorist, memer, shipper the way I always was but the truth of the matter is I'm doing great without using Tumblr I'm much happier obviously I love all of the people who supported me and were still there for me even when times were tough obviously I got into a lot of controversy I fought adults with what I personally believed what was right looking back those adults were idiots the moment they heard I was 15 years old they took everything I said as a naive kid but if they knew I was a naive kid then they should have just left me alone and that's what I told them to leave me alone I'm not entirely sure but I'm pretty sure you can block people on Tumblr they chose to get into a fight between a kid now that I'm older ( by two years not that much I understand that but still) do I still ship the controversial ship that got me in a lot of controversy yes but it's definitely different now much more than it was before but does it really even matter everyone doesn't cares about you once you hit to 18 everybody's like you do you I don't give a shit like obviously they still care about you but not as much as they used to and but my point of view is if someone were to tell me that I like something controversial in fiction I would tell them this. so you're telling me if I like let's say the joker I'd like a mass murderer in real life if I like Lucius I like a fascist in real life that's you're logic🤨 obviously whatever I like in fiction stays in fiction and it's actually very dangerous for people not being able to make the distinction sure there are the morally righteous but then there are the people who are the groomers who are like you know creepy about it I understand that kids are influenced by what they see that is an undeniable fact I was influenced by what I saw that is true but even then only a real living being can really use that type of content to groom children I personally will always make the distinction between reality and fiction I will not make that type of content between real people because I find fetishizing real people creepy unless you know them it's kinda weird to me I can find someone attractive but I cannot fetishize them in my personal view it's like kind of violating to me (not that there's anything wrong with that but it's just that's how I view it alright) anyways I still have my Twitter it's a safe haven and I don't do anything controversial or anything of any type really because I want it to be a safe haven for everyone sure I have a little jokes here and there but nothing too off putting or offensive I do have a pinterest account where I'm as big of a degenerate possible but even then I am just saving other people's art so I can look at it later now I do have quite the following count (despite me being a degenerate) but yeah that's basically it
