AT LAST IT IS COMPLETE...

Originally inspired by @koryabeebee when they drew everyone's version of the jse egos, I decided to do the same, but with Actor Mark instead ! It truly was a blast for me to do, and I want to apologize for taking so long with this, I feel like I learned a lot trying to understand everybody's style,and I'd LOVE to do this again but with darkipleir instead, maybe this summer after Artfight ? What I love about Dark and Actor and their feud is that they're both the villain. They've always both been villains, neither of them was ever a hero. But it's not as nice or simple as the Actor wants it to be, as he tries to force it to be; neither one of them is the protagonist, neither the secondary adversary, neither pure good nor pure evil – they're each messy accumulations of hurt and revenge, imbued with ambition and self-importance, shaped into something ugly by one another's obsession and hate.

It's very messy and complicated and I love chewing on it.

9. What are your file name conventions

umm.. i'm on Untitled_Project_137 in terms of Photoshop files my dude. bUT i do name the exported images that i upload here, just so i don't accidentally put the wrong thing. but they're really boring, like the last actor piece i posted was called "actor_coffin" i believe

god i am so in love with @/ braisedhoney's art here on tumblr. the painterly and lineart-less style could NOT be further than my own but its just SO nice to look at. tickles something in my brain.

along the same lines, @/ meo618 stuff is just skjhdfskjfhs i've always been captivated by those slightly abstract + painterly styles theyre so cool in my opinion

I headcanon that all of then are in their later 30s or VERY early 40s (William). So that it's realistic for Damien to be a mayor and for William to be a (Lieutenant) Colonel.

Celine is an edgy queen. I don't like her much as a character (sue me) but I've thought about her outfit.

It. Is. Full. Black.

For that time period black was still seen as a funeral colour. It first became popular through Coco Chanel in 1926! Vogue called it "Chanel's Ford". So the Little Black Dress (LBD) came into existence. It's a black evening or cocktail dress.

In short: Either Celine was in grieving (I don't think of her that old fashioned. She might have been born during victorian times but I can imagine her as a suffragette) or she was simply ahead of her time and a bit edgy.

I feel it also symbolises a bit her not wanting to fit into her role. She and Mark might have had a picture perfect relationship, but it simply did not fit her personality. She always bucked the norm.

Makes Dark more interesting too imo. Celine's still part of Dark. Being pushed into the designated role as villain without fighting wasn't going to happen (see DAMIEN).

I didn't like Celine much either, tbh. I feel like her characterization could've gone in more directions than witchy/occult (that being the ONLY direction her character went in until DAMIEN, where I really liked that she was displayed as a protector/ruthless).

Her outfit could be considered an outward projection of her association with the occult, a visual aid for the viewer, since the average viewer probably doesn't know much about fashion. I like your analysis of bucking the norm, though. It provides some depth to her character in separating from Mark (normal, successful, actor) and going to William (eccentric, though still arguably successful) barring the obvious fact of how divorce worked back then.

Damien, outside of his emotional turmoil once shit hits the fan, seems to me to be the more tempered, calm side of Dark. Being mayor, I definitely think he can be manipulative and people-savvy (source: politicians throughout the ages), but he seems overall kind. Celine, to me, is the ruthless, angry side of Dark. She is DEFINITELY manipulative. DEFINITELY angry (she already knows how Mark works, whereas Damien came to the party thinking Mark was still a friend) and let's not forget Damien was kept for months if not years in a pocket dimension of Celine's design. Maybe some of her rage and magic rubbed off on him.

But here's a heads-up for my non-existing fans: I've got my master's degree! I'm a Theatre Studies Expert now! With honours!

So that's mainly what happened, and a few other things, like the fact that I haven't written even a single letter of fanfic since about March. Oh well.

It's not that I don't want to, I want to write something more and more, but… Life is a funny, dense thing.

On second thought and because of a lack of prompts apparently,

Author and Actor with "This isn't open for discussion" or "Please turn the light off"

The Actor's job is to pretend to be a corpse, then grab the subject's ankle like a bad prank.

Prompt: “This isn’t open for discussion.” / “Please turn off the lights.”

“Is it time yet- What the hell are you doing up there?” The Actor stood in a dingy room much resembling a jail cell, staring up into the slats of an air vent. 

From within the dust confines of the air vent, the Author glared back. “I can’t control you,” he said, his voice ringing through the vent. “So I need to watch.”

One of the Actor’s perfectly plucked eyebrows arched, like it’d grown a mind of its own. “Kinky. Can’t you do literally anything else?”

The Author scowled. “This isn’t open for discussion.” He shifted uncomfortably and the vent groaned; debatable whether it’d hold his weight, but this was the best alternative to standing in the doorway like a creep. If the subject saw him, all hell would break loose.

The Actor, however. “Shut the lights.” He ordered, taking one last moment to study the scrawled writing occupying the yellowed pages of his leatherbound notebook. “It’s almost time.”

The Actor did as told. The cell plunged into darkness, but as the Author’s eyes adjusted he could see the Actor flop into position, doing a stunningly accurate job of pretending to be dead. His eyes were glazed over and half-lidded, and the air smelled like must and something sickeningly sweet.

“You can’t remember your name,” the Author muttered to himself, and in his mind’s eye he saw his subject sit up, brush dirt off its arms and legs, briefly panic. “You can’t remember anything. You don’t know how you got there. But you know what you have to do. You get up and walk around, eventually reaching the adjacent room, where a dead body lies on the floor.”

He smiled as cautious footsteps approached the yawning doorway. As a pale face poked itself in, then the rest of a gangly body followed. The subject looked toward the fake-dead Actor. “Come in." The Author crooned, and wrote something down. "Look closer.”
