I am supposed to be on vacation, not studying the physics of glaciers and icy lakes and snowstorms as they relate to how meta!Len's powers would work. But hoooboy am I getting IDEAS.

Listen. Wentworth Miller doesn't like to play straight characters. He has said that he played his Earth 1 Leonard Snart as pansexual (even tho on screen we are only confirmed that Earth X Leo is gay). In the Arrowverse E1 Len only ever shows interest in Sara, a very woman-loving bisexual who is fierce and energetic and good but willing to play in the gray areas... Who else has those qualities? Barry Allen. A man who inspired Leonard, first to up his game and then to be a hero. And Wentworth Miller is very thoughtful about his characters. So I absolutely believe there was intentional attraction and maybe even love from Leonard's end toward Barry. Like the chemistry between them is unreal and stronger than it is between Len and Sara. So I think unrequited Coldflash is canon and it doesn't take much tweaking to make it two-sided in fanon lol. Just make Barry bisexual instead of Irissexual and we get there. Even Grant Gustin has said there's probably a lot more to the Coldflash relationship than we got to see. Ty for coming to my Coldflash Ted talk that is probably 9 years late at this point.

been driving myself crazy lately thinking about coldwest and all the things they have in common because there's actually some really interesting ground to cover there. like. there's quite a few commonalities or at least overlaps in their life experiences and yet those experiences vary in such interesting ways
they both come from cop families, but whereas iris really seems to have faith in the institution to the point where she wanted to become a part of it, len is so obviously vehemently against the police force and everything it stands for (clearly the superior take, sorry iris), and both of their worldviews have been influenced by their fathers. lewis was a dirty cop who had the system work against him, whereas joe was a huge believer in that system up until season... 7? 8? i lose track, whatever season it was that they had him quit the CCPD
then there's the fact that both len and iris had a parent who was an addict—again, it's affected them both in very different ways. lewis was in and out of len's life, generally for the worse, he was actively abusive and physically hurt him, i believe it's implied largely due to his alcoholism? meanwhile, iris's mom was actively neglectful on at least one occasion to the extent that she put both their lives at risk (also this defo contradicts canon but i headcanon that iris knew damn well that francine didn't tragically pass away due to illness—six years old is more than old enough to remember a seriously traumatic life-threatening event like having to call 911 to save her overdosing mother during a potentially lethal housefire).
again, that's a very different trauma to having a present abusive father with a violent streak, but. neither of them had a mom growing up. we do love mommy issues, i know the show focuses more on len's daddy issues but he defo has mommy issues as well. i wish they'd addressed even vaguely what happened to both len and lisa's moms—the most obvious explanation is that they both left to escape lewis's abuse, but then neither of them tried to take the kids? len also briefly mentions a grandfather in one ep—i believe the grandfather played a more prominent role in his life in the comics, kinda wish they'd gone more into that relationship in the show as well
i feel like there's more but these are the main things that are rattling around in my brain right now (aka i'm shoving them into a fic that probs won't see the light of day for years), will report back with whatever else comes to me

Rereading your work, and in both black on black and turn the lights off carry me home, len mentions quitting smoking six times. Is there any particular reason for it being six times that remains consistent across fics, like his pineapple allergy or did you just pick a number?
hehe i’m so glad the pineapple allergy is also on the list of my consistent len lore <3 and also honored that you noticed the smoking number carry over between fics! so i’ll happily share that secret with you: it’s not about it being six so far, it’s about it not being seven yet
i will say first, i do like six because it fits well with his age, extrapolating from how many times my friends in their late 20s and 30s have quit smoking so far (around 4 or 5 times on average, with successes lasting longer the older they get)
but moreso, and excuse me while i check my own ao3 listings to confirm this….. yep! i give myself away on the real reason in “black on black:”
“Quitting had been a bitch the first six times; he wasn’t eager to give lucky number seven a try.”
i really like len’s obstinate insistence that superstition is for suckers, and he’s not fate’s plaything, and the show’s cheerful insistence that he’s wrong. like, there’s literally a good luck/bad luck meta, and len’s attempts to go back and change his childhood in legends end up having no effect because the timeline just course-corrects over what he tries to change
so when i’m dealing with post-oculus len, or any len that sticks around past season 2 and sees how ridiculous the rules of the world have become, i like to give him that little superstition about smoking and the number seven—conscious or not—as a tell that he’s not quite the same person that he was before barry and the events of the flash happened to him
i don’t think len is exactly sure of what he thinks is going to happen if he starts smoking again—whether starting for a seventh time means he’s never going to quit again, or if quitting for a seventh time means he’s never going to start again—but either way, i think he’s reflexively apprehensive about it because either outcome would be committing him to something potentially outside of his own power and agency
of course, that’s probably all superstitious bullshit and just a sign that he’s losing his edge… but he’s not about to give fate the satisfaction of making that decision for him if he’s wrong

Leonard Snart for character ask game
one aspect about them i love
How much he loves his sister. Len has a lot of vulnerability beneath his tough guy, criminal exterior and of course so many of us saw him having a blast being a super villain and looking giddy over being given a super villain name (and the fanbase went collectively 'fellow nerd!!!!'), but I think it's how much he loves Lisa that calls to me the most about him.
They clearly enjoy working together and Len sees her as his equal, but he's never going to get over being her big brother. He'll do anything to protect her. If that means working with their abusive father, then Len will do it and damn his pride. If that means killing their abusive father, then Len will do that and live with the trauma of it afterwards. If it means freezing his own hand off...
Well, Leonard Snart would do anything to protect his sister.
one aspect i wish more people understood about them
He finds Iris just as interesting and attractive as he does Barry.
Len finds out who Barry is, which points him at the Flash's long time and obvious crush on Iris West. He probably didn't expect to find her interesting in her own right, but he clearly does. Len follows her writing and is willing to ditch the Legends - his own personal quest to determine who he is without his father - just because Iris is in danger. Nothing Len gets out of that personally; Barry says Iris is in trouble and Len just drops everything for her. Someone he's barely interacted with in person.
Yes, Iris is important to Barry and Barry is important to Len, but I think if Barry had mentioned Joe or Caitlin then Len would have hemmed and hawed and made Barry work harder for his help. (Cisco probably would have been an immediately agreement too, but more for Lisa's sake than Len's own investment.)
one (or more) headcanon(s) i have about this character
Len enjoys classical music. It's not cluttered up with lyrics and can display impressive timing, which make it easy to have as background noise when planning heists. Though he doesn't often play music while plotting, just when there are other noises he needs to block out in order to focus.
That said, Len is a fan of rock music - ACDC, Nine Inch Nails - but also some country... mainly Johnny Cash. Whenever he's in jail and Lisa or Mick (or Barry) visit, he tries to fit in at least one reference to Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues. Mick and Lisa are annoyed with this by now, but Barry is new enough to this quirk to be absolutely delighted.
one character i love seeing them interact with
Barry. They are both so clearly in their element as villain and hero and there is no denying they were both looking kinda giddy at the train showdown. There's this energy between Barry and Len whether they're antagonizing each other or working together with teeth-clenched teamwork or realizing that, actually, they do enjoy teaming up together.
one character i wish they would interact with/interact with more
Lisa. We did not get nearly enough Sniblings content before Leonard died and Lisa was just... never seen again. Their dynamic was so great, it seems a shame that the last time they're both in an episode... we never see them interact. Lisa's all about saving her brother from their dad and Leonard is all about saving Lisa from their dad but... I don't think we see them interact at all in that episode. And it's such a shame.
one (or more) headcanon(s) i have that involve them and one other character
Len's been Iris' anonymous source on at least one article she wrote while still with the CCPN. It resulted in his favorite investigative piece she's written.

In case you were wondering, watching Len flirt horribly with Sara (clear sign it’s legitimate) and then DIE does not, in fact, get easier the more times you do it. It sucks just as much as the first time.

Punk Hazard pt 2
Part 1
"Clocky...what's wrong with me? What did they do to me?" It hurt so much, so much. Something was wrong! Wrong Wrong Wrong WRong! "I do not know Daniel...but you can not stay here any longer."
Danny, now Punk Hazard, was not expecting to be sitting in a safe house, what looked to be a refurbished warehouse, and to be fussed over by various of the older members of the Rogues as Captain Cold called them upon introducing them to Punk. Yet, here he was sitting on the couch as James, who was apparently the Former Trickster, fussed over him while Captain Cold, or Leonard Snart as he was told to call him, bustled around the kitchen with Heatwave. Killer Frost had dipped after they escaped the heroes and Mr. Snart talked about introducing him to the Rogues. Maybe he should have done the same. But, Mr. Snart had promised him non-reanimated food.
Though he had looked rather concerned when Punk asked if it was going to try and eat him. Apparently food didn't do that here. Good to know.
James seemed content to know that his scars while glowing an eerie green/blue weren't hurting him and that he had no injuries after his tussle with the Flashes. Glider was amused when Punk commented that James was rather motherly for a former villain, "Yeah, he's just like that. Think fussing over us keeps him from relapsing at times."
"Definitely not used to an adult caring for me...Usually, they want to rip me apart molecule by molecule." Punk commented only to blink in confusion as the warehouse went silent, even the kitchen was silent as Heatwave and Leonard stopped to stare at him. "Guessing that's not normal?"
James made a strangled noise while Glider pats his shoulder to calm the man down, "No?!? Who does that to a kid?!" "I think you need to start from the beginning, kid," Captain Cold sighed as he handed the mixing bowl to Mick. He probably shouldn't be holding anything for this.
Twenty minutes later, Leonard wondered if Barry would forgive him if he froze a few government facilities solid. Probably, the guy was just as soft-hearted as he was when it came to kids. "Okay, let me get this straight...see if I have all the facts.." "...Pretty sure chair arms aren't supposed to bend that way."
"Your parents were mad scientists and worked with an evil government agency-"
"Not necessarily mad-"
"Found out you were a meta-"
"Technically I wasn't-"
"And decided to work with said government agency to rip you apart and find out how you tick-"
"Viviscected is the correct term for it."
"Along with other experiments which fucked with your biology and powers even more. And now you are on the run after ransacking their labs."
"Yeah pretty much.."
"Right you are one of ours now-"
"I'm not sure that's how adoption works-"
"Do you need a new name? I think you need a new name. Not just your rogue tag."
"He's not listening is he?"

New meta!Len suit for my Sparks in the Ice verse~
Micro-break from the nuttiness of life and juggling writing projects to rediscover art.... and voila! There was bound to be a new suit for Len in A Rare Arctic Thunderstorm so here we go. Consider this the spoiler for the upcoming Ch8. ;)
Tumblr media
This was totally an exercise in “how would Hartley and Cisco collab on a suit?" and an upgrade from the version I made last year for When Lightning Hits Ice. A certain scarlet-clad speedster very much likes the new look.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course I had to do the flipped down/frost-free and coatless versions again too.

Author: @coldtomyflash
Note from submitter: Think this was the first big coldflash fic. A classic

I made this post about Captain Canary, since he is one of my favorite ships from The Legends of Tomorrow, but hey...
When I first saw season 4 of The Flash and when I first saw the character of the daughter of Barry Allen and Iris West. Nora then it occurred to me to think that if Leonard had survived and if in doing so he had become Meta-Human with ice powers... bone as his cons in the comics and in doing so both he and Sara would have been able to stay together. I would have liked them to have also said that both in the future they had a daughter together and their daughter, as well as Nora, they would also have traveled to the past to be able to spend some time with them.
Tumblr media
It occurred to me that your daughter's name could be Lucille "Lucy" Tanya Lance Snart. And so that they knew the names, they occurred to me. Since Leonard Snart's mother is never mentioned, it occurred to me that if Leonard had come to have a daughter, he would have liked to name her as his mother Lucille and the middle name occurred to me at random.
Tumblr media
And if it occurred to me that Leonard and Sara's daughter could look like both of them. Since Leonard is clearly brown in his hair color, it occurred to me that his daughter could have dark blond hair like her parents but that she could have brown eyes like Leonard's father and mother just like Lisa and that's why it occurred to me that her daughter could have the same eyes as her aunt and her paternal grandparents.

{The particle accelerator... The thing that I naively believed would be the jump start to my career as a scientist, but in reality, it was the source of nothing but loss, regret, and heartbreak, in my life. The night the particle accelerator was turned on, everything started out as we had planned, and in a split second, it all went downhill from there. It became unstable, exploded, and as a result, a lot of people’s lives were completely turned upside-down. From the scientific perspective, my career and reputation were tarnished. None of that mattered to me though, because that was the day I lost the man I love... The man I had planned to spend the rest of my life with... My Ronnie. I thought with tear-filled eyes as I left the coffee shop, where I met Iris to discuss her findings on the meta known as, “The Burning Man.” For the last several weeks, I felt like someone had been following me. Then during a brief visit to the mall, I caught a glimpse of the impossible in a reflection of my car window as I approached my vehicle in preparation to leave the mall} Ronnie... {I murmured out in surprise, but as I no sooner turned around to face the familiar reflection in my window, he was gone; leaving in a burst of fire, of all things. I actually thought my head and mind were playing tricks on me... or at least I did until I saw Iris post something in her blog about, “The Burning Man.” I knew the thought of Ronnie still being alive sounded impossible, but look at what happened to Barry, and the other meta-humans, as a result of the particle accelerator explosion, so who’s to say Ronnie didn’t survive the explosion too. I thought optimistically as I left Jitters with my file folder of information Iris shared with me in hand. No sooner unlocking my car though when I felt a rush of coldness and ice brush past me; forming a thick layer of ice around my car. Slowly turning in my now fearful stance before coming face to face with Leonard Snart} “Caitlin Snow... You have to see the irony of a name like Caitlin /Snow/ and being attacked by “Captain Cold” with his cold gun. Too poetic to pass up, when you think about it.” {Leonard Snart murmured out with his dry tone, but on the off chance that he was so distracted by the sound of his own voice, I decided to take this opportunity to make a run for it. E for effort, I thought to myself as I heard the whirring sound of his cold gun chime out once more, just before I yelped when my feet were unexpectedly met with an icy ground below me. A wince, groan, and a pained yelp following as I slid on the ice; falling to the ground with a hard thud as my feet lost their grip, due to the icy surface beneath me. What made matters worse was when I fell, the file Iris had given me on, “The Burning Man” slid out of my hand and then under my car} Ow... {I murmured out in pain as I laid on the icy cold surface on the ground as Leonard stood over me with a smirk} “Try that again, and it won’t be the ground hit with the cold gun.” {He threatened before adding} “Let’s make a deal... If you cooperate with me, you might just survive this, with all of your limbs fully intact, but if you try to run again, I’ll turn you into an ice sculpture, one limb at a time. Do I make myself clear?” {He said in a droned tone, but before I could respond, he placed electric tape across my mouth to force my silence, lifted me up from the ground, and then tossed me over his shoulder; carrying me toward the back of his van and then tossing me in the back} “I told you I would pull it off without having to cause her physical harm... Well, long term harm, at least, but it’s better than nothing. Now zip tie her hands and feet, so we can get out of here. Part one of of plan is officially in motion, Mick.” {Snart aired out to his partner in crime before walking away from the back of the van. His partner muttering inaudibly under his breath as he used zip ties on my hands and feet; keeping me from any chance of freeing myself and getting the hell out of here. I thought to myself as I laid motionless and afraid in the back of their van; watching Mick leave the van before he forcefully shut and locked the door behind me. Moments later the van started, and within a short time, it moved into life; feeling every bump and turn as they sped down the roadway toward wherever it was they were taking me to as their apparent hostage... Now I just wondered what it was they wanted with me. I thought to myself as the fear continued building within me. The only hope I had now was that Barry and the team, or someone, at least, would find me and come to my rescue, before it was too late}

A fic every month for the rest of the year? We will be FED 😫🙏🏻🎉 (begging the universe for nothing to go wrong)
🥰🥰 aaaa thank you!! i already picked out which fic it's gonna be for august and started writing the scenes it still needs, i'm feeling really good about this goal! (<- classic day one goal thought but still)
i keep going back and forth on whether to say which one it is, because on one hand accountability, on the other hand, i love changing my mind <3 ...okay, i just read that back to myself, and obviously accountability wins. so! new snippet of the beginning of the 'coldflash babysitting temporarily de-aged!lisa' fic below the cut :)
The meta wasn’t technically de-aging people, as Harry Wells had been reminded everyone for a week straight. But understanding that “technically” required more knowledge of cell biology than Barry had been willing to keep in his brain since college, so he (and everyone else) had just taken to saying “de-aging” more quietly, and only after making sure Harry wasn’t standing behind them, first.
Even if Barry had wanted to wrap his head around the details at some point, he’d missed his chance. Because earlier in the week, the question had been academic. But as of that morning? They had bigger problems.
Or, smaller problems, depending on how you looked at the situation. And Barry had looked at the situation a lot of ways. He’d been having a hard time looking at much else, actually.
Admittedly, Leonard Snart hanging around STAR Labs had that effect on Barry on a normal day. (Which, was just practical, alright? He’d steal something if Barry wasn’t watching him. Or take all the screws out of Cisco’s chair. Again.) But more to the point, it wasn’t a normal day. And if it was normally hard for Barry to look away when Leonard was poking around the Cortex, then it was impossible when Leonard was sitting on the floor instead, cross-legged and patiently teaching a knee-high bundle of curls how to cheat at Go Fish.
Lisa could barely hold the hand of cards Leonard had dealt her, but she shuffled through them clumsily in her lap, then looked up at Leonard with a defiant lift of her chin. “Gimme another card.”
Leonard dropped an elbow to one knee, then rested his chin in his hand. He hadn’t been de-aged a day; the early streaks of silver were still prominent in his hair (moreso, in the two years since he’d been back in Central City). No one on Team Flash had bothered asking why the meta hadn’t de-aged them both, even though they'd been together when it had happened; no one had needed to. The answer was ten feet away from Barry: Leonard, sitting on the floor of the most secure building in the entire city, armed to the teeth with at least eleven weapons (at Barry’s last count), and playing card games with a five-year-old. Two pieces off the board for the price of one.
“And why would I give you another card?” Leonard's question was more of a prompt, his tone indulgent.
Lisa wasn't moved. “'Cause I have to have six.”
“I dealt you six.”
Lisa held her cards up with both hands, inexpertly fanned. “Nuh-uh. You gave me five.”
When Leonard reached for her cards, she rocked back and hugged them to her chest.
“No cheating!"
Leonard’s lips tugged up into a smirk. “Wouldn’t dream of it.’
Lisa broke, giggling, and Leonard pretended not to notice.
“Well, fair’s fair,” he said. “You do need six.” He revealed the deck in his other hand with a magician’s flourish, then held it out to her.
Lisa put her cards face-down on the floor, going serious again, her full attention on the deck in front of her. She put one small hand on the deck, squinted as she placed a thumb and pinky on opposite edges of the top card, then glanced up at Leonard.
Leonard was making a show of looking off to the side at a nearby computer monitor, which had been cycling through a screensaver for at least an hour. So Lisa made her move, slowly picking up her hand, her grip wobbling as she tried to keep the edges of the two cards she’d just lifted off the top lined up with each other.
Without so much as glancing in her direction, Leonard murmured, barely loud enough for Barry to catch: “Don’t get greedy.”
Lisa frowned down at her new cards. She turned them over to check the numbers—Barry had been wrong, there were three, and he had to pass a hand over his mouth to hide a grin—then put two down on her pile on the floor and returned the third to the top of the deck.
“Okay. I got six now.”
Leonard looked back at her and cocked his head. “No. You’ve got eight.”
“Do not!”
Leonard swept her pile of cards up off the floor before she could slap both tiny hands down on top of them. When he held them up to her accusingly, Lisa crossed her arms and refused to look at him.
Leonard waited her out, amusement barely held at bay behind a mask of cool patience.
Lisa gave up after a few seconds. She looked over the cards Leonard was holding out, then looked up at him, expression victorious. “Told you! That’s not eight. It’s seven.”
When she reached out to reclaim them, Leonard caught one of her wrists, feather-light between two fingers. A request, not a restraint. Lisa scowled but held still, and Leonard pulled another card out of her sleeve.
“That’s eight," he said, then tapped her on the nose with the ace.
Her affronted expression was too much; Barry laughed. Two identical blue gazes flashed his way, wary and watchful—a pair of wild animals that Barry had just spooked with a loud noise.

An Honest Thief
Chapter 8: I Believe In You
Leonard Snart/Iris West
Read on AO3 here
Chapter snippet:
The part of Iris that was close to Barry, once, wants nothing more than to slide in next to him on the big armchair and coax him into giving her the rest of the story. Even if Thawne’s offer is a terrible idea, she wants to be the one to tell him so.
But they don’t share their secrets anymore.
”Okay,” she says gently. “As long as you’re sure.”
”I’m sure,” he says, with a soft smile back at her.
Leonard coughs. “So you need a solution to your evil speedster problem, is what I’m hearing, Barry. Guessing you don’t want to keep him locked up in that cell much longer?” He gives Barry a look that says he’s not prepared to countenance that. Iris hides her smile behind her coffee mug.
“No. Joe is already making noises about the Geneva Convention. That’s half the reason I wanted you to get the metas out of town in the first place, Len.” Barry’s whole body is tight with rage, as if he’s holding back the urge to run. “But it’s one thing for you to release Mardon and Peek-A-Boo into the wild. Thawne is different. We can’t just let a serial murderer go free.”
“Correct,” Leonard murmurs. He’s got that dark, compelling look on his face again, and Iris knows he’s planning murder. She wouldn’t care, except that this time, it’s going to get him killed.
”Leonard,” she says firmly. “This is not some game you’re playing with the Flash. Thawne will squash you like a bug, if you even try to get near him.”
“Agreed.” Leonard turns to her with a sudden, delightful smirk. “We’re going with your plan, Death-Wish West.”
Iris is so tempted to rip all Leonard’s clothes off, right then and there. Barry be damned. “Oh yeah, we are.”
They beam at each other.
”Uh,” Barry says, his blank expression shifting from Leonard to Iris. “What?”
Leonard reaches out to pat Barry on the shoulder. “We’re gonna let Iris take point on this. She’s gonna fool Thawne into thinking he’s got a future - make him believe you two are getting married. And then you’ll give him his damn portal, Barry. Right when you’re on the verge of sending him home, you and Cisco are gonna send him… somewhere else. All the way out of this universe, if you can figure out how.”
Barry’s eyes are full of fire that belongs to the Flash. “Even if I knew how to send Thawne somewhere else, which I don’t, there’s a thousand things that could go wrong with that plan. Starting with Iris getting herself killed, if she doesn’t completely fool him.”
“Barry,” Leonard says, “I think you can trust the woman who was significantly better at hiding things from you than vice versa, to lie successfully to a man who thinks she’s nothing but a brainless little girl.” He gives Iris a look so proud, she has to bite her lip hard, or she’d be right back to thinking about tearing his clothes off, which is a little distracting when they’re trying to make plans. “He underestimates you, Iris. That’s gonna be his undoing.”
Barry doesn’t look so convinced. “What if he tries to kill you, Iris?”
Iris tilts her head in Leonard’s direction. “Like he said.”
”Like I said,” Leonard growls in agreement. “Death-Wish West versus the monsters? I’ll take those odds.”
