Minecraft skulk is so fucked up as a concept. It spreads by consuming dead creatures, meaning it is some sort of corpse-goop that also spreads onto natural matter like dirt and stone. Just imagine how nasty it feels to even be close to it, how it smells of immence amount of death that happened over literal ages... You step into it and feel restless souls creeping up your spine, as they whisper to you to be quiet, to grant them this peace in silence.

Drowned Thoughts
Hello!!! Here's the Drowned discussion post I was talking about before the small break, I have a few things to touch on and a new character to show off!!
Drowned in my canon can be separated into two groups, those that are the drowned people, and those that are the undead. Drowned are a complicated case because we all understand the Drowned in MC are zombies that spawn or are converted to living in the water and of course that happens in my world too!! I wouldn't deny an interesting feature like that!! I imagine water has a lot of magic within it and since its used for potions and such, a lot of magical waste from failed potion attempts or large brewing sessions culminated as pollution in some areas. Even then, I just feel like zombies are susceptible to magic and transformations especially, having a Husk variant as well. Very adaptable species.
However, I have a species of the Drowned that are people who lost their civilization to the ocean many many years ago, more so something like Atlantis, except not hidden. Their world was changed and as a result of Years of evolution, they had transformed into a water dwelling society!! Drowned are able to walk on land as they retain their legs, they are able to breathe air as they are mammals still, having both gills and lungs (though they are under developed). Drowned live primarily in undersea ruins both warm and cold ocean variants. There are differences in their cultures obviously, but they are the same species.
Drowned can form relationships and have children with other mobs as well!! This is shown through Dionysus' friend, Aries!! Who's father was a Witch and mother a Drowned.
Tumblr media
Here's a design of her, very sketchy but the overall idea of color palette, features (aside from facial) and clothes concepts are very much that of the Warm Ocean variant drowned. Darker skin, more green hued skin, glowing/bio luminescent features as well as smaller clothes and more flowing options with gold accents!
Cold Water drowned have a more obvious lighter shade and more bluish tint to their skin along with having more wraps and such covering their bodies, they typically have more bio luminescent features and dark colored scleras!! They typically also have yellow teeth :0)
That's all I have, I'm hoping to talk more abt Aries if people are interested and to eventually make a design of a cold ocean drowned fellow :0)!!!

I’m going to share what I think is the full timeline of Minecraft lore- not like any smp lore or anything, just Minecraft lore, base game.
So like it’s very obvious that there was an ancient civilization that died out for one reason or another, leaving only the things they created in their wake. And this is obvious by the Temples, Sand/Ocean/Jungle, the shipwrecks, the igloos, the mineshafts, all these buildings they leave behind.
Because it certainly wasn’t the villagers who built them.
Ages ago there was this theory that this ancient civilization was driven out by something dangerous and powerful, I think this theory was MatPats?
So here’s what I’m thinking happened. Because of the different architecture style of all the temples and such it’s easy to assume that there were many different cultures In this ancient civilization. And I think it’s very likely that they were at war. The reason being? Creepers.
Think about it- gunpowder is not something that forms in nature, it has to be specifically filtered and put together for it to properly form gunpowder. Take into account that Creepers are completely silent at all times until they’re close enough to you to explode. And they don’t seem to have any conscious thought other than to kamikaze a human. Now there is the possibility that they could have been made by the Pillagers, but they don’t seem to have any scientific capabilities and are more focused on barbaric tactics, so that means there could have been wars going on between the ancient cultures, and that could explain why the only cities we find are the ones that are destroyed in the ocean and the ancient cities underground, they all destroyed themselves leaving only the sacred temples. Additionally Creepers don’t have a will to live, they don’t try to survive, and if they were formed via evolution, they would have a will to live and not solely explode upon seeing a person, further indicating they were genetically created. At some point during this time, they discovered the Nether.
All those incomplete Nether portal ruins you can find, likely remnant of what they built. So they built these portals and traveled the Nether. Discovering all the things it has to offer. I believe they are the ones who built the Nether fortresses, and discovered that Nether Wart and Blaze rods can be used to create powerful elixirs and potions, so they breed the blaze, making them an active part of the temple, and have the little Nether wart farms. And the fact they have been to the Nether would explain why chiseled red sandstone has the Wither carved into it. So we all know that the Piglins and hoglins seem to carry an innate zombifying virus that triggers whenever they enter the overworld.
So after some time of peace, something happens, and a human is infected by the virus that the Piglins carry. The virus is devastating and spreads far too quickly. All the zombies we see in game are very clearly human, and there’s a clear distinction between zombie humans and zombie villagers. So all the zombies we encounter are likely remnants of those ancient civilizations. The portal ruins we see all over the place? They weren’t failed portals, they were intentionally destroyed to try and slow down the infection rate. Eventually there is left with only a few handfuls of survivors, so they flee below ground, down into the depths where they built their new cities. The Ancient Cities that were added in the latest update. I believe they lived here for some time in relative peace just surviving in the depths. But then their newest and possibly oldest foe came. The Warden. The skulk spread incredibly fast and far, the Warden leaving little left alive in its wake. So once more the ancient people had to flee. They fled and built the Stronghold, one final safe haven against the monsters outside. But they knew it was only temporary. Driven by fear and a will to keep going, the people who remained of the ancient civilization fled into the End.
The ancient civilization began building the began building their new home there. Building the strange and towering End Cities and the flying ships we see there. They invent Shulkers as a security measure to defend themselves. There’s only one food source that can be found in the End. Chorus fruit. The fruit that when eaten causes you to teleport randomly. I believe that after centuries of a diet of this fruit and the harsh conditions of their new living environment. The ancient civilization evolved, transforming into what we know today as Endermen.
The more they transformed from human to Enderman, they became enthralled by the Ender Dragon. They go around to the overworld, begging the player to save them, telling them to look for the eye. I think they can’t stand eye contact just because of the pain they feel. You look just like they once did and it enrages them that they can’t have that anymore.

Endermen created the End Portal
I've had this topic covered in a video, but of course I cannot just stop talking about things I've already talked about because this is just so interesting to me and I need more people to know! Many have wondered where the End portal came from. These magical blocks which are required to power to reach the End dimension as well as the end of the game have become so integral to progression yet remain mysterious. Most just chalk it up to humans or something randomly finding their way into the End for whatever reason. Maybe even becoming endermen in the process. This does not make sense, though. Looking at the End portal texture, we can see that it is made of end stone. A material from the End and only found in the End.
Tumblr media
Not only that, but that teal/cyan framing that covers the end stone of the end portal frame is also a material from the End! It's found imbedded into the end stone itself in the Minecraft Dungeons files. Here's a look at some examples of this material found throughout the Dungeons' End:
Tumblr media
Essentially, the materials that the End portal is made of consist entirely of End materials. There's no way that anyone from the Overworld could've made these frames because it is simply impossible to created a portal to another dimension if that same portal requires materials from that world. I mean, you can even take a look at the 'Eye' armor trim smithing template.
Tumblr media
The recipe to duplicate it takes end stone as well. People going to the End from the Overworld should've been an impossible task. Especially for people who would have no knowledge of the End prior to entering. However, this would be entirely possible if it were beings from the End making their way to the Overworld. Then, they'd be able to grant us access by constructing these frames. This paints a very intriguing picture of the history of Minecraft. Also, it's basically confirmed that this happened. lmao

Not even the only villager statue here either.

Here's a theory about the next Minecraft update.
You know how the combat update has been in the works for years now?
Maybe the next update will be "Battles and Builds". It'll be mostly about tools and weapons, with the tools helping us build more efficiently, and a bigger diversity of weapons balancing out combat. The Crab and Armadillo mobs would both fit nicely with this update - do you prioritize building with the crab claw, or battling with your armored wolf? (I'm writing this before the third mob option, so I could be completely off.)
Up until the Wild Update, the devs were trying to flesh out important parts of the game: the ocean, the villages, the Nether, and most of all, the caves. What better aspect of the game to get some care now than tools themselves?

i feel like more people should appreciate the new(ish??) minecraft vex design, not only because it gives them more emotion, character and also looks adorable but it also makes me think about them lore wise (not that i know anything about minecraft lore) specifically to do with allays
the fact that allays are found in pillager outposts is so interesting. why are they in cages?? what are they even there for?? what do the pillagers want from them??
vexes and allays designs are so so similar and that makes me think of three things:
do the pillagers take the allays design and use it to create similar creatures, almost like holograms or poltergeists, used to torment and attack the player. instead of being an actual allay, they are just based off of them and twisted to fit the needs of their creators. meaning they end up more like a distant cousin than a sibling, seeing as the allays would belong to nature and the vexes to science
but what if vexes are actually poltergeists or some kind of vengeful spirit?? minecraft is not a game devoid of the supernatural after all, if they have zombies and skeletons why would ghosts be such a stretch?? they can phase through walls and are ridiculously annoying to get rid of once they have targeted a player, what if every vex was once an allay that died in vain and now they decide they have to enact some kind of revenge?? what if they were similar to zombies?? braindead beasts unable to think for themselves ultimately meaning that they end up being loyal to the things that brought them back to (almost) life
and the last and most plausible thing, are vexes allays but turned? did the pillagers somehow find a way to warp and change an existing creature maybe (this is a whole other ridiculous theory) similar to the way they were changed from normal villagers to what they are now (witches specifically but also pillagers, evokers, vindicators ect) did they do this out of spite or simply because they can??
uhh yeah feel free to add anything if you want to, thanks for reading my little vex appreciation post because as annoying as they are in game i just love these little guys so much!!

i have a theory about the sculk and wardens, about the sculk being a parasite and the warden being its host-turned-protector. wrote up a little creative thing for it, will turn this into an oc.
grotesque descriptions of rot, decay, bone + flesh mentions, suffering. etc, under the cut
STAGE 1 -
the sculk is inhaled. it begins to spread internally, starting in the lungs and quietly branching out. this stage remains largely undetected, but as the sculk piles up the host will begin to cough up its particles.
at this stage, the sculk can be killed by regularly drinking milk or honey.
STAGE 2 -
the sculk reaches vital internal organs - the brain, stomach, and heart. it permeates through each, beginning the process of rot and reshaping in parts of the body deemed unnecessary to it. the host's vision and movement will gradually decline, feeling as if their body has suddenly become too heavy for their legs to carry them. by this point, the sculk should be noticed.
the sculk can be killed by consuming large amounts of honey, and the body should slowly heal afterwards.
STAGE 3 -
the host's hearing and smell sharpen entirely, and instincts of hunting begin to form. all the while, their eyesight continues to worsen, just blurry colors by the time this stage is through. the host has stopped coughing, but instead their skin has begun to darken and blue. it starts on the fingers and knees, then works outwards. horn-like stalks grow along the shells of the ears.
the sculk may be damaged with the consumption of honey and regular warm baths. if successfully killed, which is rare, the body can somewhat heal but never entirely.
STAGE 4 -
the host loses sight entirely, skin grows over their eyes. the body goes through major changes, some parts even shedding skin to reveal bones. these bones shift and swell, agonizingly changing the host's body structure. the vocal chords begin to shift and swell, as well, preventing them from speaking and instead only producing inhuman, sonic sounds. the host feels an empty, indescribable hunger.
this is the point of no return, when the host can only wait for the inevitable.
STAGE 5 -
the stomach sheds open to reveal the host's ribs and sculk-infected heart. their mind is the last thing to go, and thus the host has become a warden of the deep dark.

This is my one and only Minecraft Lore Theory. Listen well and listen good.
I propose that the "Rotten Flesh" item which Zombies drop, actually tastes delicious. Eating rotten flesh makes you HUNGRIER, because its so tasty that you want to eat MORE of it. 'rotten' is just a misnomer, since eating it doesn't actually make you sick
Furthermore, the villagers like to buy it because it's a delicacy to them.

Villager and Illager Thoughts - headcanon
Thinking about the way society works with my silly little MC world...
Villagers probably have large sections of the world where they populate it, some villages are bigger than others and are very valuable trading places, but all villages are far enough away from each other that you'd have to use a horse or minecart to reach them, and even then, it might take a day or two.
I imagine theres wandering traders that group together in caravans, but nothing too big. maybe if you pay them a few emeralds they'll drop you off by a town in a few days. They're nomadic people, hardly ever staying for than a week, if that. They're always happy to see people, any new traveler is a customer and friend. Super friendly. Some can be sleazy, but they'll never give you items you can live without. Important fellows to those that live far away from any exotic places. They most likely know all or many languages, both spoken and written. It's better for business. I think to think they even raid temples at times!!! Maybe going though Jungle or Desert Temples just to leave things behind or take items,,
I think Illagers make plans of the best areas to build their strong beautiful mansions, and look for stable ground to build their outposts. I would think they have a way of communicating with those in the Mansion, maybe the ones that live there are more important or higher ranking. It seems like Evokers have a high status among other Illagers. Pillagers being the bottom of course. I also want to include more Illagers like those that were included in MCDungeons. They seem like so much fun, and different forms of magic usage seems logical. I mean Iceologers, Geomancers, and Wind Callers are all super interesting and really important to magic lore in the MC universe as a whole.
I do not consider Witches, Illagers (and neither does minecraft iirc) They all kinda just vibe and feel like they have their own lives. Not exactly violent, but curious and mischievous in ways that Villager culture clashes with. They all live on their own, but some make deals with Illagers or Villages. Their magic and potions in exchange for protection or resources. I imagine every village that contains a Cleric, knows of at least one Witch they can learn from, even if its gotta be in secret. I agree almost wholeheartedly with RetroGamingNow's interpretation of the Witch, I think its clear and makes a lot of sense, it's what i assumed for a very long time anyways. I feel like Witches are a fairly new source of magic in the world, compared to Illager and Villagers. This leads to them being seen as lesser than and never fitting in with either group. They rally in the ways of excitement, curiosity and overall, being true to one's self and never feeling sorry for being different. Witches are one of the most diverse groups, many of which are highly skilled and dangerous, but wouldn't hurt a fly without reason. Super happy group, some are hybrids or weren't even born Witches. My idea is there are Witches that are born as just that, and are brought up in the culture. The others are folks who practice witchcraft and chose to align themselves with the philosophy. (they refer to themselves as Witches if they'd like, its not required)
I touched on it a fair bit earlier, but, I had the idea that Villagers were also a being capable of magic. I like to think that the Iron Golems they spawn are from magic. villagers can create and build things when absolutely necessary or for their work, but they do not partake in magic since it is a lost art in their culture. However, the summoning of an Iron Golem unlocks a very deep connection with their world, allowing them to create life from (seemingly) nothing. (it actually does consume materials, it just takes those materials directly from the world from random places) A village will usually construct one themselves the physical way, but if under enough stress and fear, one can be summoned. Depending on the threat, it can be a permanent form, or just disappear after the Villager is safe. Illagers cannot do this, their connection with the Golem was cut as soon as they decided their fates. Iron Golems will only ever protect Villagers as Illagers are capable of protecting themselves. Although a Ravager is close to a Golem, I don't know how to fully implement them, as they must be fairly new to their technology.
Those are all my thoughts right now, things are subject to change. But yeah :0)

The Spawn Cycle
Well, well, well, if it isn't a second minecraft lore community I can share my minecraft soul theory with. A truly joyous day. Buckle up, because this theory/headcanon has quite a lot.
Souls As one might be able to tell, souls exist in some form within the minecraft world, and seem to come in multiple parts. This would be whatever souls exist in soul sand/soul soil, and experience. I believe the former is closer related to the true soul, while the latter is literally accumulated life experience.
The Spawn Cycle In minecraft, things can spawn, or are born (which could also be considered spawning), and things die. However, when a mob dies, its soul doesn't simply fade into the void, but respawns instead. I'm not sure whether it would be possible to respawn as a new mob or not. As one can expect, this would logically apply to sapient mobs as well, such as villagers, piglins, and whatever group the player is a part of (I will call them humans for simplicity). But here is where things get interesting.
The Respawn Beds have some sort of anchoring ability on souls who use them. Wherever the bed is, that place is considered home. Humans, however, developed a special ability, the power to literally respawn in current form wherever their home is, defaulting to the world spawn. Uniquely, their experience is imprinted on their actual soul, allowing them to retain memory when they really shouldn't. This resulted in humans being able to outcompete other mobs and achieve a worldwide dominance. However, I consider this ability to be not exactly available to the whole population, as how then could the human society have fallen with none remaining? I also think it may be possible the ability could suddenly just stop working after a while, resulting in a permanent death eventually.
The Immortality Project (Mostly headcanon) As one could expect, someone would make the connection that it would be great if the entirety of humanity were truly immortal through this respawning method. Some performed an experiment in order to grant this onto the rest of the population, which succeeded horribly. As people died, they respawned wrong, their mind broken, their flesh beginning to decay, their souls corrupted. What's worse, this soul corruption was transmissible, and would overtake the entirety of the human population, save those who naturally possess the Respawning ability, as their souls were already able to do so. I think this one has something to do with the ancient cities and sculk.
The World of Undead Now, corrupted souls lurk in every place conceivable within the overworld, waiting for darkness to allow them to spawn again and spread the curse further. It is in this world where villagers live in fear, yet are capable of being cured, and piglins cannot step out of the nether without fear of zombification.
Other neat things I also theorize that the compass pointing to spawn isn't pointing to some sort of magnet, since a magnet has two poles and where would the other one be? Instead I think it points in a direction along which the respawning souls of the overworld flow, journeying to the world spawn and back out into the world to spawn again. The compass is attuned to the journey to spawn.
Lodestones have some sort of property, perhaps related to netherite, that allows them to redirect the flow of souls in a certain area, and attune the compass to that flow.
The soul corruption affects the different sapient mobs differently, with the worst affliction being on the humans, who are nearly universally corrupted and incurable. The second worse is the Piglins, who suffer in strange and unique ways, such as fire immunity (perhaps as a result of their nether adaptations) and are also incurable. The best off are the villagers, who managed to avoid the curse almost entirely, save for direct infection, and even then can be cured.
Potions and their ingredients are likely linked to souls in some way.
Beacons and nether stars are definitely connected to souls, perhaps using the flow of souls to power the effects they bestow.
The wither and wither skeletons are probably the purest form of the corruption, and the wither effect is as well.
Carved pumpkins are able to redirect the flow of souls into certain constructs, which facilitates the creation of golems
Sculk literally uses parts of the soul (experience) to fuel its growth, and those souls swirling in the shriekers and wardens have to come from somewhere.
Tangential side notes: I wish soul sand had more uses in the game. It is literally a block made, in some form, of trapped souls. Forgive me if this sounds a little "dark wizardy" and "unethical" but I want to manipulate souls to create weird and horrifying things, is that so much to ask? Maybe in a hypothetical future magic update. (Pls mojang I beg you)
I feel like I forgot things, even though this is a lot of info, lol.

I got this headcannon that feeds into my greater theory of constructs in Minecraft. Souls are a source of energy, and so I like to imagine that when the Warden kills you it rips your soul out of your bleeding out corpse and shoves it into its gaping, hungry, rib cage. And so it has survived the centuries since the collapse of the civilization it monitors on the few wandering souls unfortunate enough to draw its starved attention. Perhaps the Warden was once a controlled guard, and now it’s grown monstrous from the corruption of shulk and esurience, or perhaps it was deadly from the first moment cursed magics animated a being with an amalgamation of the dead. All I know is now its heart beat rings out through the caverns, desperate to add the players frantically fluttering pulse to its own.

categorizing mobs
hello travelers. are you to gain knowledge on mobs? well your in luck. this post will categorize mobs on what they are, how they look and there purpose. it will add mobs that were scrapped, spin off games, lets jump in shall we? the first category is the simplest. these are the undead. creatures that burn in the sun with rotting flesh or no flesh at all! some have abilities like hunger and poison! the following are these. undead: zombie, husk, drowned, lobber, bouldering skeleton, wither skeleton, bogged, wither, mossy skeleton, stray, frozen zombie, jungle zombie, wraith, phantom, red phantom (pet mob in minecraft dungeons), zombie piglin/pigman, armoured zombie/skeleton, zoglin, zombie pig (pet in minecraft duongeons), giant, zombie horse, skeleton horse, vex, necromancer, sunken skeleton, tower wraiths, vanguard, zombie villagers, bone spiders, skeleton wolf, skeleton horse traps, zombie rabbits, nameless one, wretched wraith and finally the wither storm (?).
some of you might ask why the wither storm is on the list. it is a command block corrupted version of the wither. therefore, undead.
next one has a wild range of mobs. known to be the main villains in the game and have been the center of theorization and fanart, i give you, the illagers. these lovable gray psychos inhabit the world and raid villages. plundering and thievery are there main skills. whats interesting is that some are known to have powers. lets take a look.
illagers: vindicator, pillager, evoker, witch, ravager, illusioner, iceologer/chilliger, tower keeper, guildsmith, powersmith, uniquesmith, enchanter, geomancer, mountaineer, rampart captain, pillager captain, royal guard, tower guard, vindicator chef, wind caller, pillager/vindicator raid captain, giant royal guard, warrior, giant royal guard, mage, arch illager and finally the viler witch.
this category is one of the famous ones. creatures that will help in battle and more. presenting, the golems! (yay!) this category consists of mobs that can be made or summoned. magically and manually.
golems: iron golem, snow golem, love golem, wither, wither storm, copper golem, tuff golem, agent, glowing abomination, jungle abomination, glowing ministrosity, mini abomination, redstone ministrosity, squall golem, redstone cube, corrupted cauldron, redstone monstrosity, redstone golem, tempest golem, mooshroom monstrosity, obsidian monstrosity, jack o lantern (unused minecraft doungeons mob) , mob of me (minecraft earth), furnace golem, melon golem, cobblestone golem, grindstone golem, stone ministrosity, mossy golem, plank golem, first of brick, first of oak, first of diorite, first of stone, key golems, (from now on it will be the minecraft story mode golems) golem in a box, icy golem, magma golem, prison golem, prismarine soldier, larger icy golem, giant magma golem and prismarine collosus
the last one does not have a name yet. lets call this category the sprite/spirit category. some may be undead and others living. its a mixed bag.
sprites and spirits: allay, vex, blaze, breeze, glare, wisp, guardian vex, soul wizards, wraith, wretched wraith, wildfire, build and gather allays.
ok heres a bonus one. a very small category that has one mob only. introducing, the sculkoids.
sculkoids: warden. thats it. this is part 1 of me categorizing mobs. next one will be: animals (uh oh. a lot of them-) insects (cool) and finally, amphibians! (AMPHIBIA VIBES GIVE US SEASON 4 MATT BRALY-)
if you have a suggestion for a theory, feel free to type it in the comments and i will make a post abt it! camel out!
