might be a bit of a stupid question, but are the clams used in clam blitz real clams? do you stick them together like lego to make a power clam or are they some kind of flashy tech?

Depends.

Historically, the clams used were real, and often alive. It started as a game where the winners would actually get the clams to eat!

Later on, when it started getting more mainstream and played more commercially instead of with friends, they moved away from real clams and towards either empty glued-together shells, and then to faux clams. This was to maintain uniformity, so there weren't any variances between the clams that might make things "unfair" in big-name matches, and to stop people form getting hurt if they get beaned with them.

This is the current standard "clam", which is usually silicon-coated plastic. They're carried around in a "clam bag", which is a leather pouch held together with a cord or lace.

The "power clam" is just a full clam bag.

PROPAGANDA:

German gamer girl who lives in an alternate timeline New York City and goes vigilante Iron Man style with her CEO father's approval and mech she got for her 14th birthday. Canonically bisexual. Has negative feelings towards furries, but hey, she's like 14. Also an amputee after jumping in front a bullet meant for her dad when she was like 5. Now has a robotic leg and aversion to silence because of this incident. Also has negative feelings toward her mom because of spoiler reasons. She also started dying her hair pink around the age of 5 as well. Her childhood best friend/partner/eventual bf is the braincell of her little vigilante gang. I don't know her role in Law of Talos too much, but in Sleepless Domain, she's a magical girl (still an amputee despite the worlds being very different. Probably lost it to a monster instead?) and MG team is made up of other characters from her webcomic.
