All right so I haven't been active in the Julie and the Phantoms fandom in a long time, and although I know there are definitely still people creating and reblogging in the fandom it tends to be a much smaller handful of people than it used to, which for me felt disheartening and was part of why I've backed off from it. I'd love to see new stuff more regularly and start recirculating older things just to remind myself and anyone else who needs it how much I love this silly little show.

All this to say, I am putting out feelers to see if anyone is interested in a blog that runs consistent, casual event-type things for the fandom to try and revitalize interest in jatp fanworks, like featured weeks for individual characters here, fic rec events, etc. I'm toying with ideas to inspire people to pick up their wips, spark new stories, and highlight older content that didn’t get much attention or would just be nice to see again. I’d like to create a community space to liven the fandom back up for people who miss the show or got into the fandom after the hype died down. Does that seem interesting to anyone?

from the POV of someone who's been around the aro community since ~2013-2014 on tumblr, the only time i've seen folks start to say that qprs couldn't include sexual components has been when

they've learned an incorrect definition of QPRs, or

in one particularly notable case, the individual proposing it turned out to be quite sex negative and upset at the mere thought that people could think that qprs could include sexual activity. this individual suggested an alternative term for individuals desiring sex in QPRs in a rather explicitly alloarophobic measure. when gently called out from what had seemed to be a genuine attempt at coining a new term, the above came to light. smaller cases of this pop up every once in a while, but this one got some notoriety.

queerplatonic was always meant to mean "queering the idea of a platonic relationship", "queering the idea of what a relationship means", and by explicit definition, has always been broadly and radically inclusive. any relationship, so long as the partners involved agree it is a queerplatonic one, is queerplatonic. no exceptions. this can mean it involves romance, sex, traditionally platonic elements, and anything and everything those involved desire out of it.

tldr; the word platonic is in queerplatonic to say it is counter to the idea of a restricted "platonic" relationship.

Man, I still remember participating in one of the many jjba zines that I took part in and how my piece was placed as the first page (for the second time) and how one of my mutuals/artists that I’ve always admired, hit me with the “oh… you’re on the front page again… 😅…” like man, that kind of killed me lmfao. technically I don't think this follows our submission rules as nothing's explicitly neurodivergent-related (outside of this being a common experience for some of us), but my relationship anarchy-aligned beliefs couldn't help but want to give unsolicited advice lol.

Like yes this sucks and it can feel terrible going against the mold or not getting what you need out of your relationships. but if you have friends you'd want to hold hands with, and you don't think they'd respond with extremely rude/mean comments, then might I suggest just explaining it to them and asking if they'd be okay w/ platonic hand-holding themself?? You'd still have the problem of some outsiders assuming romance (but you can never fully control what strangers think so I'd try not to worry about it too much), but some people are alot less strict about amanormativity and the "platonic vs romantic" divide, especially w/ hand-holding that I've definitely seen some groups/people put in both sections personally.

You could continually add fics as the inspiration strikes.

General rules would remain the same (no AI fic 😑)

You would NOT be able to add new prompts, you would only be able to claim.

Leaving it open for posting AND reopening prompts would mean:

All of the above minus #4.

You would be able to add new prompts in addition to filling them.

The challenge then functions as an ongoing prompt meme for Baseball RPF. So if something happens in this postseason or in future seasons, and you want to prompt your friends or internet strangers or whoever, you now have the mechanism to do so.

You would regularly continue seeing posts from this blog with gentle encouragement to publicize the prompt meme so that new and old fans are aware.

I would probably run a comment challenge once or twice a year for this prompt meme going forward so that all the works receive positive feedback.

Why do this? Well, the feedback I received is that baseball rpf as a fandom is quite small, some of the prompts were quite complex, and that a lot of fun new narratives have developed this season since prompts closed in July. I also know of several people who are struggling with completion under the deadline, but many of them still really want to participate and are frustrated that they will be unable to do so. I also heard from a couple people who came into the fandom towards the end of the regular season and now feel very bad about missing out, which is not a feeling I love to inspire as the person running the challenge.

My biggest hesitation in this is that we have people who have already posted fic and have been waiting patiently for reveals and I do not want to be unfair to how hard they have been working the past two months. If the poll results are overwhelmingly (70/30) weighed towards yes, I would unreveal and de-anon all works immediately, and will offer my apologies to those creators! I know you have worked hard to get your works posted on time and I want to honor and respect that.
