The thin line between already being close friends with someone and officially dating them is an interesting question when it comes to byler. other than, like, making out and doing more lol, what do you think the main subtle differences will be between established byler and current byler? it's a little tricky in ways isn't it, because in s4 they really were behaving like couples do, just standing closer or turning to each other in group situations.

I think the biggest differences are really going to be about intention. and behaving unapologetically both with each other and around others! they won't feel like their actions are "too much" for a friendship because it becomes unrestricted.

their friendship is romantically charged, which means there's a LOT of tension, and shifting into a relationship means there'll now be a lot more relaxed energy about them. They settle more into who they really are and can be, they'll appear a lot brighter both bc of their romantic relationship and from the acceptance of their sexualities. I think we'll start to see that right after the confession with the relief that comes from it 🥺

It's nothing we don't already know will happen, but I agree there's a very thin line in differences to happen with byler specifically. I honestly almost think it's just about putting a new label on what they already are 😂

When you have a connection that close, you can naturally get flirtatious too which is what happened in s4, and why I say the difference is about the intention and purposeful behaviour!

I guess actual examples would be in their touches? Right now we have them physically close but still not crossing the line between them, whereas in a romantic relationship they'd be touching in some way during deeper discussions, or at least offering it. An example being mike placing his hand on top of will's, or on his shoulder vs him holding will's hand and rubbing his thumb across it soothingly (something that can be platonic or familial too, but between two boys in this context, it's romantic)

in terms of their life there's the future planning: they may have little things about each other that they find annoying or don't agree on, or discover they will, but the difference is that with friends you can mostly just accept it because you're (usually) not living with them, or can criticize lightheartedly. The difference for mike and will is communicating they don't like something a certain way and finding middle ground because they plan to spend many years together.

you've got primacy and how maybe mike and will may have tried to divide attention between all the party, or sit next to them for movies etc, but once in a relationship they'll have reason to pick each other in those moments without feeling bad.

But that's also why I find it fun that byler are together in a friend group, because I like thinking about that development and how they will have moments dustin and lucas express they want time with them individually or together, but obviously byler would make it work easily and it's no problem. but lucas and dustin will adapt to the fact byler are officially each other's person now and it's not platonic "favoritism"

the spicy side again is intention! there are no accidental glances, or innapropriate touches, no guilt for enjoying the view, or perceiving things as suggestive and getting turned on. mike can stare at will's ass and then actually tell him how much he loves it

They're going to have sides of their everyday life reflect in there too. will feels comfortable to ramble as long as he wants without judgement? will's going to become comfortable expressing his pleasure and show another version of himself by being a little slutty in bed or whatever the vibe

As for what we could get on the show? I think a lot of the differences will actually come through in eye contact and held gazes. Definitely more touches and going back to that s2 physical closeness (ex. mike's arm around will's shoulder). and scenes where their priority is officially each other, even a little dramatically to get that point across. OH and a hug, but this time nuzzling into each other's necks and their hands having movement wherever they touch

I'd love any other examples others can think of, because I really had to wrack my brain, they're already behaving like such a couple 😭 but sometimes it's hard to define anyway because some friends have sex and some couples aren't super physical!

I can't share the 30-some pictures I did with my FB post, going from last December to this December. So I'll just use this one - which I just took after a quick harness training session in which she bounced across half the couch to meet me & wagged for the first 15 seconds, and before she made me put my phone down for a bout of snuggle scritches. 😭🥰

This is such a long post, I'm going to put it under a cut. But today is the 1 year anniversary of Emma coming home to us, and I am FULL of emotions over this little dog. So if you want to read my rambling & think with me how far my baby has come in a year.... read on!

One year of my Emma. 💙💜 I didn't really expect to love this dog so much, velcro dog and all. She is definitively My Dog, and I never had a choice in the matter. I think that was just gonna happen, ever since I first saw her adoption post 1 year & 9 months ago. Every time I saw her posted again, I wanted her. It was meant to be! 🥰

And now I look back on the year & think about it all. We changed a bunch of things in our household for this little dog, and all year, we kept adjusting & improving where it was needed for her & the other animals. I love my family so much, and I'm so grateful to have found these other people who love animals & are so willing to adapt as needed for their happiness too. Everyone in the house agreed to take on a project dog, and everyone stepped up to help her settle in.

It's weird too, bc it often doesn't feel like we've DONE that much. But when I tell someone new about her, or spell it out for myself, I'm reminded that we've done the work, even if it mostly didn't seem like work. And we gave her what we knew we absolutely could, what she needed most - time and space. We went at her pace, let her lead us, and it's been truly amazing to watch her over this year.

Emma has gone from being very worried to terrified about any & all human movements, unable to be pet or touched, quick to be on guard at any small change in position. Terrified of loud noises and too much activity. Barking at Joel to try and make him go away. Pottying in the house on pee pads because outside is scary. Only laying in a lap if the lap was covered with a blanket.

All of that.... to a dog that spends 98% of her time relaxed, happy, and ready to be involved. She greets us with alert barks instead of guarding barks, tail wags, bouncing, and licks (okay, mostly me for some of that but still). Everyone in the house has been able to pet her. She actively loves to be pet by Jack in bed & me anywhere when she wants snuggles. She plays with her dog siblings and with me. She discovered the joys of yard zoomies early on & never looked back - she potty trained faster and better than Spring!

She knows and likes our household routines. She LOVES food, and it's the quickest way to her heart! 😂 But she's learned some manners too, like not snatching food with any opportunity! She's gotten more comfortable being on the floor. She still likes to chew more than our other two, and has gotten really great at managing big emotions by redirecting to a Benebone!

We're not the best at active training, but even so, she makes us & me look good! She's interested now, when the treats come out, and wants to see what to do to get some. She interacts with new objects, she is doing great with harness training.

She has opinions now!!! And she will tell you!!! Especially if they involve dinner time! 😂 I still can't believe she demand barks now, and it's been too cute for us to bother stopping for the most part.

I've thought about goals for her over the next year, and I definitely have some big ones. Continue harness training until I can put it fully on her & take it off. Leash skills & comfort with them. All of that slowly, so slowly leading up to trips out of the house - to do vet happy visits, check out some SniffSpots, and go visit her sister at foster mom's house. I also want to introduce some pattern games to help with all of that.

And we plan to start having people over to the house again! Not sure how often or how many, and we may have to alter pace based on how she does. But she's so often surprised us with her resilience, so I think we'll do okay! (And obviously all visitors will be required to follow rules around my pup, or face the mama bear wrath 😂)

But mostly....I just can't wait for another year with this extremely sweet, loving, exuberant little dog that is working so hard to find her confidence. We're all so very proud of Emma, and love her so much. 💜💙

I also included a thank you to both rescues & Emma's foster mom, for all of their time, work, and hoops to ensure that Emma would be safe. They genuinely gave us all the information we needed to make sure we were prepared, and I am even more grateful for that after seeing how rare our experience is in my fearful dogs group.

But then the tags make it seem like that was sarcasm, and the person who screenshotted this is saying don't interact with you bc of that. So I have to know, is this accusation true? Kim is my favorite character but Chay is the most special™️ boy in the universe :p that’s why I keep thinking of an AU where everything is mostly the same except that like in the Sandman there are anthropomorphic personifications of the fundamental concepts of the World (they are: Dream, Death, Destiny, Desire, Delirium, Despair and Destruction) and Chay is casually besties with Death, most people don’t know they even exist and the Mafia fam knows that there’s some kind of magic in the world but nothing more than that.

This comes out when they’re “casually” talking about some horrible thing that Korn did and Chay just looks at Kim and asks “if there was a way for him to die and have nobody be responsible for it, would you want him dead?” And he’s like “yeah, obviously” and Chay is like “okay! :D” and like two days later Korn just dies out of nowhere and nobody can prove it but everyone knows that Chay had something to do with it so Kim just asks and Chay just tells him he asked a friend to do him a favor and Kim is like “???” until Chay is like “yeah, that friend is literally the anthropomorphic personification of the concept of Death :D” everyone else is for some reason also there.

Chay doesn’t tell anyone this bc they would lose their shit if they knew but they met Death when they died accidentally when he was like 4 and when Death came to collect him, they just told her very politely that he couldn’t go with her bc that would made Porsche sad, she found him adorable and let him stay alive! They have been friends ever since.

Tankhun kind of knew that the personifications existed but never told anyone, he met Despair & Delirium when he was kidnapped :) to be fair he thought he was hallucinating.

Chay!!! as besties with Death!!!! Death a common friend to all but the deepest connection with CHAY. I love your day dream, I had in fact immediately pictured Korn's bloody ruthlessness being in part an effort to court Death for his own nefarious purposes, and Chay's like "oh? do you want to meet her then?" and Death arrives and gently tells Korn he's always had her attention, he never had to try to catch it, and Korn feels very smug about this until she holds out her hand and Korn realizes he's just dead and she means she knows everyone who passes through her lands eventually, he's not special.

but oh mannn, I'm right there with you in that Kim is my favorite but Chay is my most specialest boyTM, and I have a silly day dream for them too actually! I'm not sure if you've ever heard of the Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire? it's a novella series centered around the concept of portal fantasy worlds, with a bunch of children who had gone to different alternate worlds and are now back on earth, trying to make a life after and several waiting/hoping to return to their worlds. I had actually first had a weird mashup of that series and bad buddy, but then kp came out and I fell down that rabbit hole and my brain shifted the day dream to accommodate Chay going to a different world where he'd gotten literal wings before he was returned to earth (reason typically being for Porsche). and something-somrthing happens, the exact reasons for this next bit change, but somehow he and the other boys are in danger, Chay's door opens again for him, and he drags all thr boys with him for safety and they all learn our boy is MagicTM. Kim is 😍 x100 obvs, he doesn't really care about the specifics he just cares about Chay lol. Porsche's reactions vary but usually around I THOUGHT THIS WAS JUST A GAME WE PLAYED AS KIDS, and Kinn and Khun are just. Baffled. Mind blown. What the fuck is happening, this is very cool but still WHAT?!

Jhin is Actually Kinda Good pt. 1

Now that I caught your attention I thought that I'd make a giant thread about the Zed comic, what I've gleaned - I'm going to talk about Jhin mostly, what may be his main goal and about his character design! It's going to be full of wild guesses but if any is true... Lore and Ionia fans are in for a treat.

Let's start with my Artistic Spirit theory, how Hwei's ability names, Disaster, Serenity and Torment are the three state of artistic mindset. However these names indicate that they went wrong, and I predict that once they were Inspiration, Clarity and Empathy.

Inspiration is tied to acting and theater; Clarity is tied to music and community; Empathy is painting and showing - think of it as in Activity: acting, talking and drawing. But in the big picture, these three are the Ionian version of the media.

I will continue to call them the Media Spirits. Now their names indicate that they got twisted, and we have to think about the why, when and how, and at what event were they twisted/muted - and I think Jhin is trying to show what happened in the comic, in his own fucked up way. 

Each of the three Ionian artists match with these Media spirits, Jhin being Disaster/Inspiration, Sona is Serenity/Clarity and Hwei is Torment/Empathy. One is a psychopath, one is abroad and mute, and one was a shut in with depression... This could indicate the state of Ionians, even before the war started.

And so we should read the Zed comic with this in mind - knowing that Zed is an unreliable narrator, who lies all the time. He lies right on the first page, saying he killed Kusho, who was alive until the end of the comic. Then we have to look at Jhin's "art installations" as indications what Kusho may have done.

Because Master Kusho is the worst thing that could happen to Ionia - he wanted civil war, with the motto of "there is no greater power than the ability to kill". But due to Jhin's machinations, Zed realised his true intention and finally killed him.

About Jhin's machinations. We have to realise that by being the Worst, Jhin is serving the greater good, or the balance - Shen, as he became the Eye, somehow realised this and forbids Zed to kill him. Bc I think if Jhin died, it would be disastrous in some way😂

Let's take a look what Jhin did for the balance. The latest, he inspired Hwei to go out and realise his potential as Empathy, which is a pretty big feat. Before that, Jhin liberated the city of Quayanvi, this is shown by his LoR cards - Jhin did a reenactment of how the Noxians took over the city.

They first did a surveillance, and then came the sweet talk, the mind control and then total control. These four steps are symbolised by the bird, the clawed gauntlet and the two types of flower. Jhin, with this guerilla attack, sacrificing only a priestess, managed to take over.

In the Zed comic, Akali also learns that he stopped the weapon inflow from Zaun to Ionia. With this and Kusho being dead, that's 4 events he directed that made sure Ionia becomes a better place. Which is immense, and may not sound like Jhin at all - and YET these are the things he aimed to do and achieved.

I'd take a look at one of his LoR followers, the Maker - her design is one of my ultimate favorites, because she's this old forest witch but also she looks like a guardian spirit tree. She makes the weapon design but it's Jhin's magic which gives them power. 

And Jhin's using Spirit magic, which is really unique, only Karma and Vastayans that have this sort of magic. The proof here is in the comic; his magic is similar to that kid Zed mentions having Vastayan magic. So Jhin is on the Spirits' side as a human lol

Now how the heck is Jhin using Vastayan magic? I only have a wild guess, and that is that he was made into this. It has to do with the scalpel and spirit sword Zed and Kusho has. What if they did a Demacia, as in splicing human kids with a Vastayan spirits? It would be really interesting lorewise IMHO

Let me talk about shadow magic, which may be corrupted Spirit magic. Much like how the Black Mist came to exist, something horrible must've happened in Ionia, as in a huge amount of human suffering has been released. I think this is what Jhin tries to act out and implements even on his own costume.

Let's take a look at his character design - with his winglike cloak, and birdlike boots, he's dressed like a Vastayan. He wears black, skintight leather that could easily pass as him being covered in shadow ichor. He also wears a porcelain mask that is similar what the Kinkou has worn some time.

So... This makes him look like a weird "chimera" person, who's half Vastaya covered in muck and half a Kinkou student. This is my presumption, but if this is what's implied by his design… oh that would be a great story beat.

By the way, if he's a man with Vastayan magic, he gains the thickest plot armor one can have - the local authorities think him he's demon or Vastaya(so he doesn't get chased down like Yasuo), but then the Kinkou can't kill him because he's just a guy Kekw

Jhin was also called the Golden Demon, but he has no connection to that name whatsoever - Zed very much does, tho. His mask has golden horns, red eyes and a skull motif goming on. And I think this mask was made by Jhin becase it also resembles a dick with that random hole😭😂

Hi Laura! No need to be sheepish. 💖 Thank you so much for the ask and for indulging my ramblings. I think it's incredibly sweet that you've asked about @lyranova's pairings. They're lovely! I'm honestly a little feral about Zerilliam, and I rambled about that and about the pairings in general in this response to Lyra's ask. ^^

I would be thrilled to share my Fuelara thoughts with you here, especially since, at this point, I am so invested in this pairing that I have to constantly, consciously remind myself that Solara is not a canon character. She just exists in the world of Black Clover in my mind now, and whenever I imagine or think of Fue, she is right there by his side.

I have to be honest that before I found your blog and we became friends, I really didn't think that much about Fuegoleon. I always liked him and had a lot of respect for him, but he wasn't really a character I just sat around and thought about too much. (His brotherly relationship with Leopold is just too functional. Let's blame that lol😂 I promise I'm only joking, and I adore them! Vermillion Bros for the win!!) But you write him with such depth and such nuance that it really gave me a new appreciation for his character. That one shot you wrote about his feelings of inadequacy after his injury has stuck with me to this day and remains one of my favorite fics I've ever read about anything in any fandom. You and your incredibly powerful writing made me love Fue, and as I was coming to really love him and becoming so much more invested in his character and his story, I found your absolutely incredible Solara who is truly (and this is probably intentional on your part but needs to be said) perfect for him.

Fuelara is everything a canon character x oc relationship should be in my opinion. I hope it goes without saying that Solara is such an incredibly strong and compelling character in her own right and I love that you've given her her own story beyond just being Fue's love interest, but even beyond that, she fits so seamlessly into the world of Black Clover (and I know you shared with me in the past that that was something that was really important to you while creating her, and I think you have succeeded in that in every possible way). Like I said in the beginning of this post, I really do genuinely have to remind myself she isn't canon. She just feels like she belongs there. I can't tell you how much the way you've meticulously crafted Fuelara and weaved them into the world of BC has been a personal inspiration for me. (Apologies in advance for the tangent but) my big passion project right now is a very ambitious multi-chapter fic for another fandom which I'm co-creating with a friend of mine, and it involves an OC x CC relationship (that I'm mostly in charge of 😅) so I actually find myself thinking about and talking about Fuelara as kind of this blueprint and inspiration for everything I can only hope my own ship will ultimately be. Even though the world of that story (late 90s/early 2000s suburban America) and the world of Black Clover couldn't possibly be more different, I'm sure Sprinkles could tell you that I have specifically mentioned Fuelara (specifically their relationship's seamless integration into the existing world and story) and what an inspiration it is for me personally, so many times while working on this project. It is truly so impressive, and I want to write like that. (Side note, I have definitely been using your tips and suggestions for OC integration throughout this process, so thank you again for that!)

Beyond just how well Solara perfectly fits into the world (which I've rambled about a lot), she also perfectly fits with Fuegoleon to the point that it's actually difficult for me to imagine him with anyone else at this point. I'm honestly really surprised I have made it through these ramblings without any random, unsolicited music references, but you're about to get one. There's a song called "We Go Well Together" by Goldheart (Spotify; YouTube) and here's a few lines, "We're just like kids up on a swing/Finger and a wedding ring/We go perfectly/It's so easy." That's just Fuelara to me: It's so easy. That's not to say that it's easy for them--they've certainly had their struggles and been through so much together, but their relationship dynamic, their love for each other, and their interactions are just so effortless. Of course Embers is fantastic, but I think I love your cozy little one shots about them most of all because I just adore how they interact with each other. They're so comfortable with each other, and it feels so real and so genuine. There's really no need for me to suspend belief or to try to create some buy in into their relationship. They just talk to each other and I'm immediately convinced they're deeply in love and just perfect for each other. One of my favorite things about them is how they are both such strong people, but they can be vulnerable together, and I love these really tender moments where they encourage each other that they don't have to carry the weight of the world alone. I just can't get over how supportive they are of each other, and I just adore that.

Gah, this ship is just so good. It's canon. It's honestly better than canon in a lot of cases, and I really can't get enough of it. I think I've said this before, but I'll say this again. Thank you for this pairing! I love it. ❤️‍🔥

OH hello yes thank you for asking!!! I have several OCs but most of the time I simply Do Not Explain on here; I have lots of ideas and doodles but I make it mostly for myself and don't think to share — doesn't mean I don't want to tho! exhibit A: this absolutely massive post I'm about to make lmao. putting it under a read more bc Oh Boy, the floodgates have been opened

most of my OCs are for two different projects I have: The Visitors and my D&D Dark Star Campaign.

The Visitors is just a lil worldbuilding project I've been chewing on for.... oh wow, over a decade at this point??? I love all the OCs I have in there very very much, but they're definitely never intended to go in an actual story, I just enjoy the speculative biology and character / world building process.

Val is one of my oldest OCs, and she's changed SO MUCH over the years! nowadays, she's a sort of insect/dinosaur mashup alien who uses gravity warping magic and a very large axe to hunt demons. a huge issue for magic users of her species is keeping cool, as magic generates heat and can literally cook you from the inside out, so you'll notice the multiple vent-like spiracles across her body for this purpose. she was born blind and so relies heavily on her best friend, Django, to be her eyes and keep her safe. fortunately, Django has Too Many Eyes. he's a dragon genetically engineered by those in Val's species to be the perfect vessel for storing and releasing massive amounts of mirror-based magic. this kind of magic gives him many abilities, including seeing around corners, creating illusions, or multiplying attacks when applied in different ways, and he acts as Val's seeing-eye dragon. in battle, she likes to get up in the action while he holds back and gives her cues on what's happening, only jumping in himself if she's in major trouble. she's very friendly and excitable, and loves to get into the culture of whatever planet they're visiting, while he's more interested in observing and snooping. there's a lot of espionage and hijinks.

these are some of my most recent sketches of them, tho I'm sure the designs will changes in the future. specific colors don't matter at all, it's all about vibes! not pictured in the halfway colored one is Val's big iridescent black cape thing that has a slit down the middle for her rigid tail, nor her weird arms since I wanted to figure out where the torso vents could go.

Duke is another Visitor who visits planets and solves problems, but his path to get there was a whole lot different! I made him up as a coping mechanism when I was 12, and I'm still very fond of him.

he started life as a human video game speedrunner and modder prodigy. in a "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" situation, a devil (very distinct from demons!) struck a deal with him, challenging his gaming abilities with his soul as the stakes. he won despite the devil's cheating, but that's where the resemblance to the song ends. in this world, a devil winning your soul allows them to fuse with you and gain total control over your body, mind, and actions; but if YOU win, the control is reversed! and like any 14 year old who suddenly has the power to rival minor gods and a chaotic creature living in their head.... he goes off the rails for a while. Val and Django eventually find him and help him cope. his powers include electricity, glitching reality, flailing his glaive around, and being a menace to evil overlords.

you can't see it very well in this picture, but his eyes and the segments between his tail glow lime green! I'm not a fan of drawing clothes, but in my head he's relatively fashionable for a teenager and refuses to wear anything other than black. also, he decided to tell me he was trans a couple years ago, thanks for letting me know buddy 😂

my other project does actually get to see the light of day, if very slowly — I'm running a homebrew D&D campaign for my irl friends called the Dark Star Campaign! none of em use tumblr so WHEEEE I get to post all the spoilers I want! there's a kinda staggering amount of lore behind it and a ton of minor OCs, but the two I rotate in my head the most are Anya the Timekeeper and The Master, aka Armageddon.

Anya the Timekeeper is a chronomancy lich from an alternate universe! she used to help Armageddon travel the multiverse and gain power, but she's decided she's tired of being evil, and now hides in a mansion on a tropical island where she breeds dinosaurs for fun. though she's now very determined to help the party, they'll eventually have to kill her past self to prevent a paradox. her familiar is a little archaeopteryx named Trix who steals hats!

Armageddon is the BBEG and he's SO EVIL and SO MUCH FUN. he's an ancient amethyst dragon who, up until a while before the campaign's beginning, was steadily finding alternate universe versions of himself, killing them, and eating their souls to gain Unlimited Power™. unfortunately, his partner in time (hah) Anya told him to fuck off, so the quest for Unlimited Power™ has been kinda slow lately. fortunately, a D&D campaign started, and he cheated his way into existing at the players' table as The Master! my players can ask to talk to him sometimes, and I'll put on a mask of his head I made specifically for this purpose — very useful for not breaking character when the character is supposed to literally be the one sitting at the table talking to the players. I don't try to hide the fact that he's evil and they all know it, the fun is in giving them little hints and tidbits of lore to munch on. right now he's being very docile and helpful but things will get very very interesting eventually as more of his nature and plan is revealed..... =)

I'm still playing around with what he looks like as The Master, but I really like this recent design I did. his eye glows dark and menacing. I haven't found a design for his dragon form I'm really pleased with yet tho :/

I need to go fix a lot of my tags bc I couldn't remember what I have posted about it, but mostly I did a few posts during Yeehawgust and that was it. XD

Ok so.

Several years ago I was binging episodes of Bonanza (I was also depressed ok), and stumbled across one called "The Avenger" which introduced this soft-spoken, genteel drifter who shows up just in time to stop some of the main characters from being executed for a crime they didn't commit. When they finally ask him why he cared enough to endanger himself with the real criminals, he explains his father was wrongfully killed and he's seeking the men who did it - yet the episode shows him going out of his way to avoid killing, even when up against some of the men he is after and him being a deadly-excellent crack shot.

We aren't given the man's proper name in the story, but he's from a town called Lasater, Kansas, and so Lasater is what the townfolk call him.

The episode was intended to spin off its own series, about Lasater, and another show, Outlaws, featured an episode starring the same actor with loosely the same story. This man was given a name, but it was imho a silly name so I stuck with Lasater. (I think he was loosely inspired by the Zane Grey character Lasater, which is probably why they gave him another name later.) In any case, the spinoff never happened, and Lasater's story remained unfinished.

But I loved him. I have rewatched that episode multiple times since. The character is just so....??

He befriends and protects a young boy in town. (He has a real soft spot for kids in particular, and in the Outlaws episode he allows an older boy to become his partner after similarly protecting and befriending him.)

He spoils his horse.

He's a loner by mission but you can tell he really likes people and enjoys having company.

He wears his hat adorably back on his head like a little kid.

He's really concerned with cleanliness, it's noted in both episodes lol.

He's kind and refuses to be provoked by hotheaded men.

He is moved to empathy for but not swayed by the damsel in distress.

He has a sense of humor drier than the desert.

He's dangerous in a calm sort of way.

He defeats the bad guys by compassionately but firmly convincing a scared woman to tell the truth (and then of course there is a shootout but he actually has very little to do with it).

I loved the character and the hints of his story (his lawman father hanged by outlaws, his town burned, his mission to bring the villains to justice - that justice being a jail and a court trial) so entirely, that when I found out the episode had entered the public domain, I dug in to write the rest of his story.

In my continuation, Lasater and his new young friend Sonny are on the trail of the remaining outlaws (it would have made a good mini series, but not a long-standing one probably, so I can tie up all the loose ends in a novel lol), and the trail leads them to a small town that wants nothing to do with trouble, but where they must make their final stand against the murderous gang. I get to turn a few more tropes on their head (like what roles Lasater and Sonny play in the climax, and a love interest who is not a love interest) and... Yeah. Couple of cowboys came and stole my heart.

Ended up writing it for last year's NaNoWriMo project and I'm trying to get up the time and energy to begin rewrites.

For now, the story is still called Lasater, Kansas. It may get a proper name someday. 😂

i am less... concerned? wary? of sabine as ahsoka's apprentice than i was before we started. idk, given all the visual emphasis on sabine avoiding these two "opposed" poles (avoiding the jedi by not going to ezra's memorial, avoiding the mandalorian by shoving her armor away under the table) i am curious to see how this plays out. it feels like a natural evolution from her rebels arc of choosing her new family in the ghost crew, but inverted? which i'm interested in. idk. feeling hopeful, tho

there's an interesting motif of seeing things through (and failing to do so) in these first two episodes. obviously ezra says that to sabine almost verbatim, but there's also ahsoka walking away from both anakin and sabine before training was completed, there's the new republic failing to fully eradicate imperial sympathies (sometimes deliberately so), and there's something there too, i think, about failing to confirm thrawn's death. or account for his return? anyway. i'm interested

but truly, highlight of the premiere is huyang being like good god you are bad at this

Hi hello how are you coping after finishing lost? Please feel free to come scream at me about it

i'm trying so hard to cope lol thanks. but the real question is, there are people who watched this show years ago, how are they coping years later??? i really need to rewatch it a few times to understand better but overall i've never seen anything like this, well executed plot, the character developments, the easter eggs, such a mystery that you'll never be able to solve even after years... the first thing i did was to open lostpedia fandom and read all of trivia and facts and errors and stuff, and then i read all of your tags on my old lost gifsets 😭 i've been waiting this moment for 4 months 😭 and sometimes i open lost's soundtrack and look at my past gifsets and start crying as if i don't have enough reasons to cry 😂 the ending was a mystery like the series itself. this finale definitely needed a reunion, although it seemed to me a little bit forced, but this was the most logical ending they could come up with, so i'm not complaining. after the finale i've learned there was an extra episode which includes benjamin and hurley and it was a big relief for me! bc my fav character is benjamin linus, and i thought his ending was really sad, it's like i shouldn't pity him bc he's the worst person ever but this is why i love lost, because benjamin still makes you cry in the end even though he killed hundreds of people in cold blood :') after watching it, i thought maybe it could've been the finale instead bc it's kinda more positive... or maybe a spin-off? THAT WOULD BE SO GREAT, i'm pretty sure everyone thought about the possibility of a spinoff, that would've been really great because it has the potential *sigh*... i'm gonna keep making gifsets and explain my thoughts as i go along, there are too many characters and events, so i can't focus on every one of them at once. when i finished better call saul, i needed to distract myself so i started lost and now i started person of interest to distract myself from lost 😂 (mostly because of michael emerson my beloved <3) so i wish i could erase lost from my memory so i can experience it again...

ok so this is obviously on different levels but i remember in your review for tsitp you mentioned how belly and conrad wanna make some kind of “big” impact of off these moments of silence and just staring at each other, and how it falles flag bc they don’t have chemistry.

And even though it’s a completely different project and theme with like, arguably the greatest actor of all time starring in it, i did notice that a lot of phantom thread relied on scenes like them just staring at each other and not saying anything, and overall the idea of passion through an understated display, and i wondered what your take on it was? did it work for you in the movie? i felt like daniel day lewis was giving more than the girl but i also think that’s what it’s supposed to be like?

It's interesting that you use the word passion because I find Phantom Thread to be quite dispassionate, but I also find that with any of the PTA films I watch, there's an inherent distance, but what also makes Phantom Thread interesting I suppose is that the reveal is that they love each other while we spend the movie watching them try to control one another so that contextualizes the stares they have.

Like, if I'm watching Conrad and Belly, or a relationship like them, it's supposed to be cosmic and weighty and intense

it's supposed to be things unsaid, it's supposed to be history, it's supposed unfulfilled desire or desire deferred, it's supposed to be longing, it's supposed to be pining and aching and angst and heartbreak

and have them feed off each other but you need a specific kind of chemistry for all of this and for someone who has grown up on 90s and 00s and 2010s dramas,

Belly and Conrad were laughable.

And then with Phantom Thread, watching them stare at each other is more like an exercise, is watching how control shifts in their relationship, considering a major theme in this movie is control and power dynamics so the stares are posing questions: is she simply a muse that he will use and discard? Is she an object? Is it love? Will she succumb to his rules? Will she be suffocated by them? Who has the control in this moment, in this scene?

and that worked for me because I thought they executed that well. I don't think I was supposed to watch them and see passion simmering between them in those moments, I think the first time they meet, we're supposed to see that flirty, awkward kind of chemistry and when they're horrible to Barbara we're supposed to see how giddy they are together but I find that the passion is mostly directed outward, in food

in Alma's indignation over Barbara 'mistreating' Reynolds' work, in her literally poisoning him,

as opposed to their stares, which is a chess match.

Apologies if this info is somewhere on your blog already, but I'm a huge nerd and want to know all about the trap situation! Is the moth trap purely recreational or part of a study? You mentioned counting them- what sort of data are you recording and are there any interesting implications you've noticed? Have you played around with variables like position of the trap or proximity to certain plants affecting counts?

No problem. The moth trap I use is a modified skinner trap from AngLeps. Best birthday present EVER! It uses an actinic bulb to attract moths. It's for my own interest not part of a study, but I do record all the visitors (beetles, bees, hemipterans, wasps, caddisflies, and non-biting midge species as well as moths.) I use iRecord to input data for our county moth recorder, & I'm part of a group that uses iNaturalist too. I record which species and how many show up. Then I release the moths away from the trap bc birds are usually hanging around the trap shelter looking for a mothy snack!

I live in an urban area, and while I'm lucky to have a decent garden, there are houses on all sides. So I can't move it around much without pissing off my neighbours bc the light is very bright. That's my main restriction - most of my neighbours are understanding but no-one needs to be kept awake by a bat-signal-like moth-beacon 😂

Most of my garden is filled with what I'd call wildflowers but most ppl call weeds. I manage them so no single species dominates, and have more than 30 species that are mostly moth food-plants. So they do have their preferred plants nearby.

Here's my trap - the garden chairs block the light from shining in my own bedroom window!

Re implications from the data... Last year I recorded a third of the moths as the year before, and so far this year? Moth numbers are depressingly terrible. This is probably because last summer's drought killed off a lot of plants, and that had knock on effects. Also we had a very cold spring with late frosts. So locally moths are having a hard time. But that's all the more reason to grow weeds and talk about moths so that more people love them and try to help grow food plants for them 🦋🐛🌿💖

24. Thoughts on flashbacks/flashforwards.

I love them, but I don't use them very often bc I don't think I write them very well. I use flashbacks more than flashfowards, mostly because my plots tend to change as I write, but my flashbacks are usually pretty short and less a flashback and more information conveyed via word vomit 😂

33. Give your writing a compliment.

I like to think I write character relationships really well. I also think I'm good at filling in the gaps in canon, but the jury's still out if people like my headcanons lol
