Veranda neighbour Price who smokes his cigars on the veranda of his apartment with a neighbour that shares his veranda behind a partition who is a college student with a plant growing hobby. You always grow too much and when you catch the handsome veteran out for a smoke and a glass of whiskey you offer him some aubergines and heirloom tomatoes. You both make dinner with your vegetables and eat them out on the veranda together. It'll be a veranda neighbour meet-cute.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Humming a small tune quietly as you walk through the forest, you swing the woven basket in your hand back and forth. Your girlfriend has a hand on your lower back, gently leading you through the forest and to your garden. You know the land well after months of spending days out there while she’s hunting, but it still makes her feel better to walk you to the small clearing of land where you grow flowers, herbs, and vegetables before leaving to do her own thing.
“You yell if you need me. If the mockingjays can hear it, I can hear it.” She says as she spins you around to give you a tight hug. You guys stand there, hugging for a few seconds before she gives you a kiss on the forehead and sets off deeper into the woods where the animals like to stay.
She readies her bow by her side with an arrow lined up with it as she walks away, leaving you in the small clearing to do whatever you want. It's about the size of half a football field with trees surrounding it, as if protecting you from the harm of the districts and the capitol while you're there.
Your girlfriend made this garden for you after learning about the flowers your father used to grow, which the capitol instructed peacekeepers to destroy because they can’t deal with any form of joy. His garden was one of your favorite memories, so you basically cried when Katniss nervously showed you the garden. She had gotten some flower seeds from people in the Hob, then you added vegetable and herb seeds to sell and eat. It became your safe haven other than the home you and Katniss share, something only you, her, and her sister Prim know about.
Speaking of Primrose, you place some of the recently growing herbs in your basket so that she can use them in her medicine. She recently took over her mothers job as a nurse in the hospital, but the people who can’t afford the hospital- which is most of the townspeople- just come to your home for healing. You don’t mind, as having someone who’s at risk of dying asleep on your kitchen table is much better than letting them die.
Then you grab some vegetables to sell at the Hob. A few people buy them. One of your favorites is Mrs. Lenton, who buys the veggies to put in the soup she makes for the starving people in town. You always offer to give them for free, but she forces money into your hand every time.
You place the basket down on the dirt as you start planting some new seeds Katniss got you for tomatoes, and that's how you spend the next hour. Digging small holes, placing a couple seeds in it and then covering the holes with dirt and putting some water on them. By the end of the pack of seeds, you have a whole row of planted seeds, and you can finally sit back and admire the plants.
Pulling out the wrapped apple slices your girlfriend gave you this morning, you munch on those as you stare at the garden with admiration. Katniss is the best girlfriend you could ever ask for, and sometimes it feels like you don’t do enough to thank her for that. She always reassures you that you do, but still.
Your gaze moves to the flower section of the garden, which honestly doesn’t stay just there. After these ones were planted, more started growing all around the clearing, leaving very little spots when there aren’t the colorful plants. An idea comes into your head as you look at the plants, and you hurriedly stand up from your seat on the ground to inspect some flowers.
Besides Primrose flowers, blue daisies are your girlfriend's favorite. She would never admit that to anyone besides you and Prim, but it’s true. You grin, gently picking some white Primrose and blue daisies out of the ground to add them to your basket. You don’t grow roses in your garden, knowing Katniss associates them with President Snow. You already live a life controlled by the Capitol, why would you want to bring that into your home?
Your idea is to make Katniss a bouquet. Not a huge one like the ones in the capitol, but a few flowers added together and prettily wrapped up. Your girlfriend isn’t one for “cute” but she is one for romantic gestures. And what's one of the most original romantic gestures? Giving your lover flowers.
Picking up the woven basket, you make your way out of the clearing and back to the fence that borders your district. Katniss taught you not to sell the plants at the regular markets, as they ask way too many questions about where you got the plants. Just like it’s illegal for your girlfriend to go hunting, it’s illegal for you to have a garden anywhere other than in your district. Doesn’t stop you guys from doing it though.
The people in the Hob don’t ask where you got the stuff, just like always, instead just gratefully accepting items in trade for money or treats for your girlfriend and Primrose.
So that’s how you ended up at home, you and Prim standing at the kitchen counter. You're good with plants, but the young girl is good at making things look pretty. She arranges them in a way that makes them look almost market bought, then you guys wrap a piece of thin brown paper around them to hold it all together and tie it off with a white ribbon bow.
You hide the flowers behind your back when the front door opens, followed by the sound of your girlfriend taking off her boots and coat. “Hey girls?! I’m home!” She calls out, walking through the house until she finds you guys in the kitchen. “Oh hey. There you are.” She pecks you on the lips before giving her sister a quick side hug and opening the fridge.
"Hey Kat." You say, your tone going a little bit higher as you get more excited. "I got you something." She spins around to face you, a confused smile taking over her face as she nods. "Okay.....what is it?" Prim nudges your shoulder, and you pull out the flowers to show your girlfriend who stares blankly at them for a few seconds before saying, “They’re beautiful.” She stares at you before she clears her throat and rubs the back of her neck. “What are they for? What did I do?”
Both you and Prim stare at her for a few seconds before you shake your head and hold them closer to your girlfriend. “Do I need a reason to bring you flowers?” She hesitantly grabs them from your hand, as if afraid you’ll snatch them back and tell her you were kidding. “Well….I guess not.”
“You….you’re you. That’s reason enough.” You tell her, watching as all the unsureness leaves her and is replaced by pure happiness and a light blush coats her face. Not many people can say they made Katniss Everdeen blush. Let's see Gale do that.
She sets the flowers down on the counter to pull you into a gentle but protective hug, and Prim huffs as she walks out of the room.
Her hand gently cradles your head against her, and you guys stand there for what feels like forever, just enjoying each other's embrace before she whispers, “No ones ever gotten me flowers.”
You stay silent for a second, processing her words until you whisper back, voice quiet yet filled with determination, “I'll get you a million flowers Katniss. As many as I need to get you to see your smile permanently plastered on your face. And not the fake ones from the capitol or the ones you give to the people in town. A real one. One like the one you give me and Prim. The one that reaches your eyes and makes the corners slightly crinkle and you can't help but laugh because of how happy you are.” You can feel the way her smile grows against your shoulder where she's laid her head, and it makes you feel good to know you're the reason she's smiling like that.
“I want that to. I want to make you happy. Always.” “Well then you're on the right track Everdeen.” You playfully say, grabbing the bag of meat she brought inside to start dinner.
While you're starting to focus on the food, she reaches into the back pocket of her jeans, hand gently squeezing the ring box inside of it.

You mentioned that every kid has their own favorite food, so... What is everyone's face aside from pizza?
Mikey has a major sweet tooth but he is NOT immune to a good quiche. He doesn't really have a favorite just a preference for sweet stuff in general, but if you put any kind of food in front of him he'll probably eat it as long as it has 4+ ingredients. Not big on stuff that only has 1 flavor . He fucking loves asian food because of this, just put a bunch of shit in a bowl and then start munching
Leo prefers simpler food and meals but he's ok with some "fine dining" every once in a while (something with 4+ ingredients.) otherwise he prefers just like eggs or fried rice or a pbj or something. but if he were to choose a favorite food it would 100% be ice cream. He remembers when they finally got a freezer and tried ice cream for the first time , absolute religious experience. That memory always kinda stuck with him . He bites it tho like a heathen
Donnie doesn't have a favorite food although he has been seen saying "god this cereal is so good maybe I won't kill myself" on more than one occasion
Raph just eats snacks n shit. He doesn't have the energy to eat or prepare anything more than that. He just grabs whatever's in the cupboard and starts eating it. His favorite is barbecue chips and oftentimes he just won't eat if there's none in the house so they always make sure to be stocked up for when you he does front. When donnie or some else packs somethin like fruit or vegetables for patrol he won't cut it he'll just bite it like an apple. Mikey always made sure it was precut after a while cause he didn't want a repeat of the Tomato Incident
Also doodled them enjoying their fave snacks ^_^ enjoy

prime bros headcanon- once Nine is exposed to fresh food like fruit and vegetables not from a can or dehydrated or whatever New Yoke had Nine is almost as ravenous as Mangey. Like he'll eat a tomato like an apple and not care, it's better than the crap back where he's from. His brother's find it a little weird at first until Nine brings something back from New yoke and make them try it.
(Love your prime bros stuff btw!)
As Nine is too used to everything being so so processed and artificial and not natural, fresh fruits and veggies are both heaven and hell. They taste delicious but the first time he overeats, it makes him sick because his body is not used to digesting this kind of diet.
Once the bros learn how the things in New Yoke were like, Tails suggest to start slow, like moving to tasty and good packaged snacks and foods and then gradually adding purely fresh things to Nine's diet.
Speaking from experience, a sudden start from packaged food to the fresh, non-packaged one is not that easy. Where we live, everyone uses milk being delivered fresh from the farms. I couldn't drink it (still can't without flavouring) because I was so used to the taste of packaged milk. That also includes every single milk product like yogurt and butter. While we used to buy them packaged before, we now make them at home. They are much more healthy and delicious but it took a while to get used to it. Thankfully we had fresh veggies and fruits and other meals instead of things always being canned or packaged.
Anyways, Nine would be unable to switch so suddenly but he loves it all the same. Besides, it's not like New Yoke's disgusting and dry diet; food and snacks is something he actually relishes now. Though, once he does get used to eating fresh food, you'll see him munching on the most random of things in the most random situation. The baffled, "Where did you get that?" moments are very amusing whenever it happens.
Similarly, Sails doesn't like things that aren't made of seafood or coconuts. The first things he actually likes from the land are chili dogs and fruits.
Mangey can... digest everything. Like a goat.
(Thanks! :D )

Ok this might be trigger since it involves overeating but I noticed my creativity only is there when I eat hence I overeat, any advice on this? To not have to eat when I’m not hungry to be creative?
Creativity Linked to Eating
Here are a few things you can try...
1 - Write during mealtime. If you feel like you're creativity is only there while you're eating, try scheduling your daily writing session to coincide with a meal. That way, you're not eating anything extra. You're just writing when you're eating a meal anyway.
2 - Write with a healthy snack. See if there are any healthy snacks you can munch on while you write. Apple wedges, mixed nuts, celery sticks with cream cheese or peanut butter, kale chips, cucumber slices with hummus, cherry tomatoes with mozzarella and balsamic vinegar, baby carrots, popcorn (without butter and without a lot of salt), a smoothie, edamame, roasted chickpeas, roasted broccoli, dry Cheerios, etc.
3 - Take a walk instead. Exercise is a huge creativity trigger for most people, so try taking a walk around the block before you sit down to write. Even a few minutes worth of jumping jacks and running in place can help. Sit down afterward with a glass of water, and you may find you no longer feel the need to eat to fire up your creativity.
4 - Try a tasty beverage. There's a reason so many of us drink coffee, tea, or other beverages while we write. If you feel like eating and your creativity are tied together, try drinking something instead. My go-to is coffee, but hot or cold tea, sparkling water, water with lemon, sports drinks, and smoothies are other good options.
5 - Try other creativity boosting exercises. The following posts have some suggestions:

rodentkin snacks based off hamster treats i see in pet stores
1. these things because i see a lot of honey/seed/nut/tube things
Tumblr media
2. I’m not sure if yogurt treats are healthy for hamsters, regardless I see a lot of yogurt drop treats, and luckily they make them for babies too
Tumblr media
I’m sure yogurt covered pretzels or raisins would also scratch that itch
3. I’ve given my hamster popped corn on the cob, I’ve never tried to pop full sized cobs of corn so I would just go for normal popcorn, but it would definitely be a fun thing to try
Tumblr media
4. again with the baby food, which I think is a huge plus for pet regressors, is baby puff cereal :) I’ve seen puffs at pet stores that look like you slapped a different label on the gerber puffs
Tumblr media
5. very similar to the last one, cheerios, hamsters love cheerios but can’t eat them very often due to the high sugar content. luckily, you can probably handle more sugar content than a physical hamster, so enjoy being able to munch away. this actually goes for most things on this list so far lol
Tumblr media
6. FRUIT!! VEGGIES!! these are very accessible and very healthy, hamsters love munching on cucumber, spinach, tomato, bell pepper, banana, strawberry, apple, and a lot more
7. a more expensive option than the last, but with a much higher shelf life is dried fruit, lots of hamster treat mixes include dried strawberry, papaya, berries, banana, and a lot more
8. this one might not be obvious but of course hamsters need protein! a lot of it! hamsters can eat tofu, scrambled eggs, cooked chicken, cottage cheese, and freeze dried bugs
9. i do not recommend feeding this to a physical hamster, the high salt and oil content will cause a lot of problems. this is just a personal thing that feels very hamstery to eat- french fries!! I’ve even seen french fry shaped treats at pet stores
10. NUTS AND SEEDS!! this might have been the first thing you thought of when you read ‘hamster snacks’ I would recommend trail mix, due to the similarities to hamster food mix, as well as nuts in their shells like peanuts, pistachios, sunflower seeds, and walnuts. a lot of hamster food mixes have corn in it as well, so corn nuts can be a fun crunchy option.
BONUS! If you want the hamster snacking to be truly immersive and possibly shift inducing, I would recommend keeping a little stash of shelf stable snacks in your room (or “nest”) as this is what most healthy and or wild hamsters do to store food.

Chapter 2
The first two weeks of Elizabeth's employment went smoothly. Harlan did indeed have a taste for sweets. The rest of his palate she worked at learning, but he seemed happy with her efforts. When he didn't care for a dish, he would let her know and she gladly made him something else. Funny enough, the man would ask for tomato and mayo sandwiches, with just a touch of salt and pepper. Such simple requests from such an interesting man.
It was finally the day she was dreading, her first Sunday family dinner with the Thrombey clan. Fran had gossiped about the family with her while she began preparations. She explained who everyone was, their quirks, and entitlements. She had an asshole rating system that Elizabeth found amusing.
Fran found most of the family intolerable, except Harlan of course. “The top asshole, a number 10, has to be Harlan's grandson, Ransom. But don't call him that, ever. He makes the help call him by his first name, Hugh. He's handsome, for sure, but don't let his face fool you. He is a massive jerk and will charm you, use you up and spit you out like that.” She snapped her fingers and huffed.
“Luckily, he doesn't come to many of these dinners. Not that the rest of them are any easier to deal with. Seriously, they should have their own reality show so the world can see them snarl at each other like a pack of rabid hyenas. I suggest you steer clear of them when you can. These nights can get ROUGH.”
“Duly noted.”
Fran smiled before leaving to set the table. “Good luck tonight. And if you need a little mood stabilizer at the end of the insanity, just let me know. I got you girl.”
---------------
Elizabeth's anxiety increased with every new voice that echoed through the large home. She couldn't hear much of the conversations, but was confident Fran would fill her in if she missed anything juicy. So she continued cooking in peace.
Speak of the devil, the brunette rushed into the kitchen, “Top asshole and Harlan’s mother are m.i.a., but the rest are seated. Tell me the app is ready?” Fran already looked so done with the night.
”Right over there. Description card included.”
“Thank youuuu.” She took the appetizers to deliver to the table.
The family was just as she left them. Sitting proper with fake smiles plastered on their faces, while practically seething at one another.  Fran served the table with an equally forced grin.
Richard scoffed at the bowl. “What the hell is this?”
“Richard!” Linda chastised her husband.
Fran swiftly read from the card, “A roasted butternut and apple soup with ginger and coconut milk.”
Linda took a tentative sip and her eyebrows rose. “I see Rosalee has improved.”
Donna followed her lead, also approving of the soup and the improved quality.
Harlan spoke up, “I'm afraid Rosalee has retired. I've hired someone new.” He sent Fran to ask his new chef to come out, greet his family and serve dinner.
Elizabeth pushed the cart out to the dining area. Feeling like she was walking into shark infested waters wearing a wounded seal suit. All eyes were on her as she entered. Harlan introduced her and asked what she had for them.
“I have for you a herb crusted crown roast of pork with a side of carrots and parsnips in citrus butter.”
“Um, excuse me, hi.” Joni raised her hand, pointing to the offending entrée. “We can't eat that. My Meg and I are vegan. Do you expect me and my daughter to just munch on carrots all night?”
Elizabeth nodded, "I have been informed of your dietary restrictions and made you both something separate.“ She placed the extra meal in front of them. ”Quinoa cakes with a tomato-zucchini and chickpea relish, drizzled with a balsamic glaze. But if you would like the citrus carrots on the side I can get that for you as well."
“Dietary restrictions, my ass. It's not a restriction, it's a mental illness.” Walt began to rant, “You know how you can spot a vegan? Don't worry, they'll tell you. They'll never shut up about it. Those douchebags think they're better than everyone else. They look down on us meat eaters, keep trying to convert us. Well let me tell you, eating meat is my God given right. My right! Don't you realize you can't live without meat. Your brain will die. That's why you are all so miserable, you're slowly dying.”
Donna rubbed her husband's shoulder in approval. While Richard raised his glass in salute to Walt's bullshit. Linda pursed her lips, ignoring them and trying to have a chat with her father.
Joni was on the defense, “We are the healthiest we've ever been. It's good for the planet, the environment, which benefits everyone, need I remind you.” She ignored her brother-in-law's snickering. “Let's be real, veganism is the answer to this world's problems. It is. It's the only moral choice. It clears up your skin and makes you feel good inside and out. And we don't have to feel guilty about contributing to the exploitation and slaughter of innocent lives. Animals are just like us.”
“Just like us?” Walt interjected. “Oh really, should we have dad's dogs sitting at the table with us? I tell ya, if Meg was a boy, I'd be calling DCF because you'd be depriving him of nutrients he needs to grow strong and polluting his male DNA with soy.”
“You're the one with blood on your hands, Walt. All those poor cute animals you've killed….”
Richard scoffed, “You've only been,” he raised his fingers in air quotes, “vegan for a damn month.”
“Ya well, I saw the truth and I'm changing. You'll see it too or die with all those animal products clogging your arteries... Plus it's been two months. Thank you very much.”
“I will happily eat my steak and drink my milkshakes all the way to my grave.”
Joni rolled her eyes, “Uck, you are completely hopeless.”
Walt raised his hand to silence any reply from Richard. “Don't bother. It's not worth fueling her delusions.”
That seemed to put an end to that argument. The rest of the meal went well. Although out of the whole family, only Harlan and Meg said 'thank you.' Not even the young boy spoke up. For being so rich and fancy, they certainly lacked manners.
Dessert was served without incident. Tiramisu and a mini vegan version for Joni and Meg. Harlan seemed to be in heaven, commenting on how rich and decadent it was.
After dinner was over, Elizabeth and Fran began clearing the table. Linda poked her head in, “Elizabeth, may I have a word with you?”
“Was there something wrong with your meal?”
“Oh no, no, dinner was lovely. However, I wanted to make sure you weren't making desserts like that for my dad all the time. He's getting up there in years and has to watch his cholesterol, his sugar intake, blood pressure, things of that nature. He can't be consuming food like you made tonight. He needs to eat healthier. I'd like to keep him around for a long time. I'm sure you can understand.”
“I fully understand, ma'am, but there is no need for concern. The food was chosen because this was a special occasion. It doesn't reflect his daily meals.” Elizabeth noticed Harlan a few feet behind his daughter. He winked at her before alerting her of his presence.
Linda clapped her hands, “Delightful. I'm so glad we have an understanding. I will make you a list of approved meals.” She smiled at her father before walking away.
Once Linda was out of earshot, Harlan leaned close to Elizabeth, “I'm not eating that pigeon food. You put her little list up on the message board in the kitchen and ignore it.”
Elizabeth thought she was safe. The family was dispersing out into the night. She turned on some music and began washing the dishes. Her hips swaying to the beat.
Joni snuck up behind her. “Oh I love this song.” She attempted to dance alongside Elizabeth, bumping their hips together. “Don't be shy. I could tell you recognize me. I get it allll the time now. You're correct, it's me. Owner, CEO, COO and CFO of FLAM.” She continued boasting about being a top influencer and her skin care products while Elizabeth stood there like a deer in the headlights.
An unwelcomed hand reached out to stroke her cheek, “Your skin looks so parched. You could really use a hydrating serum. My company offers the perfect product to help. It's an all organic algae blend that feels like the ocean on your face. So refreshing. And there's a vitamin C serum that will bring some life back to your overworked face.”
“Well let me tell you, FLAM is trending right now, it's going to be huge. You go ahead and follow me on twitter or instagram. I'm offering my first 100 followers a 15% off coupon. That will be available once I find the right graphic designer for my website. Those I interviewed so far just couldn't grasp my vision. This is a lifestyle I'm promoting. I have to trust they get my brand, ya know. But hold onto that coupon, it will be honored. So lovely to meet you, Evelyn.”
“Elizabeth,” she corrected.
“Sure.” Joni made her exit, blowing a kiss.
Fran entered and passed over the joint in her fingers. “It's like the fucking twilight zone isn't it.”
“You weren't kidding.”
The Thrombeys were the most insincere backstabbing piece of crap family she had the displeasure of meeting thus far. She wondered if any of them loved or were loyal to anything but money. Doubtful. Thank goodness she didn’t have to encounter them often.

Change for a Twenty
New fic from me. Happy Destiel Day! Cas and Dean have been roommates for years, and friends for longer, but they both hold a secret. Neither is quite ready to confess how he feels about the other.
But all it takes is a two dollar mug and a shared moment to reveal their feelings.  ~~
Cas was heading down the grocery aisle with his cart half full, his list in hand, frowning thoughtfully. He'd just scratched pie off the list with a fond smile and glanced at the clearance shelf. This was the spot the store put things like novelty bowls, twisty silicone straws, or mugs that they needed to get rid of to make room for new stock. Cas had a tendency to just grab cheap items they needed without looking at the designs, which had led to a hilarious misunderstanding when he'd brought home one because it had a large cartoon honeybee on the side, but the script under the sale sticker said 'Father-to-bee.'
His roommate, Dean, had been less than amused at first but found the humour quickly enough. Now it was an ongoing joke between them, because Cas inevitably grabbed a couple mugs on clearance simply because they were constantly breaking them–or he used them for his painting–and Dean would laugh over the new additions.
Finding a handful of brightly coloured mugs that were on sale for between two and three bucks, he grabbed three of them and placed them in his cart before wandering off to get the ground chuck Dean had requested.
Cas hoped it meant burger night…
His stomach growled, and he quickly finished his shopping. Grabbing an apple from the bag, he munched on it as he walked back to their apartment, enjoying the crunch of leaves underfoot and the crystal-clear, cerulean blue sky. There wasn't a cloud to be seen anywhere, and it was warm enough in the late afternoon that a t-shirt was enough, despite it being early November. Finishing his apple, he lobbed the core into the bushes for a lucky bird or squirrel to enjoy.
Cas opened the door awkwardly, still licking the apple juice from his fingers, and found Dean in the kitchen, slicing vegetables.
Onions, tomatoes, avocado, ooh, a chunk of brie.
It was definitely burger night.
"Hey, Sunshine," Dean greeted him fondly. ~~

Lettuce
Pairing: Hyejin/Jeno
Series: NCT Additional Unit AU
Genre: Fluff
Synopsis: Just some healing talks
Tumblr media
"I know we call you a bunny but..,"
Hyejin looked at Jeno, an annoyed look on her face as he pursed his lips. Things were still a bit odd between the both of them, nothing had really been said.
"Why are you eating plain lettuce?" Jeno asked.
She lowered the leaf from her face, sighing, "I'm trying to keep in shape, I lost a lot of weight during hiatus, this group makes me fat,"
"But you were never fat," Jeno stated, "Although Yuta, Mark and Chenle do like to feed you sugar,"
A small smile cracked onto her face as she continued to munch on her lettuce, Jeno shifted a little bit closer, keeping his hands by his side.
"You can't just eat lettuce," Jeno explained softly, "You need to make a balance diet or you miss out on a loud of vitamins that you need,"
"How do you know this?" Hyejin asked him.
"I go to the gym and I looked into it a bit," Jeno smiled, "I can help you,"
"Fine but I'm not eating tomatoes," Hyejin stated stubbornly, "There disgusting,"
"Have you seen Sophia eat them like apples?" Jeno asked.
Hyejin shivered as she nodded, "It's horrible, she's an alien,"
A laugh left the both of them before silence fell into the room. Jeno tapped his hands on the couch for a moment before he looked at Hyejin, who looked back.
"Are we okay?" Jeno asked, "I know I messed up a lot but.., I am sorry for all of it,"
She exhaled, "A lot of what you said hurt, it did, you and Chenle were the first two friends I made in this group and I never expected you to turn around and say the things you said,"
"It was horrible of me," He whispered, "I was pissed off but it doesn't excuse it,"
"You have a right to your feelings," Hyejin smiled softly, "And I do forgive you for it all now,"
Jeno smiled back at her, "I hope you know I never meant anything, I never wanted you to leave the group,"
"I know," Hyejin whispered, "I don't think I could ever leave, even if you wanted me too,"

Greetings from Bar-sur-Aube where we currently have 4c and sun. Typically, I am going to be cooking soups and some apple puddings.
Can you believe that I have never noticed this house, until yesterday, a change of parking places meant I was able to admire it. Isn’t it wonderful that, after five years, this town can still surprise me.
There is a strike in France (oh yes!) not sure if it is tanker drivers but cities/towns and villages have run out of petrol and diesel.
My goodness it has been another busy week, I went to a concert in the church in a nearby village, Anie invited me and I drove her and her friend Monique. When I got there I saw Jeannette and Eric, she would have liked me to sit with them but realised I was with friends. Typical church the wooden pews were not made for large posteriors and I was glad when I could stand up! Later in the week it was a concert by the young people from the conservatoire. A little girl aged seven was very good on the piano as was an older girl. The violinists, which included some very young girls, were also very competent, not like me who never progressed due to the Elastoplast being removed from the neck of the violin, this was to teach me placing my fingers for the notes, once the gooey bit wore off I was terrible. I think the only thing I remember playing was Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, I wasn’t much better on the piano either 😂. There. We’re clarinetists, trumpet, trombone, and flute, it was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and talent.
After the rain that fell last week, I was beginning to think that not only autumn but winter had arrived, however we have had some wonderfully sunny days even if there has been a mist every morning. I managed to get into the garden and cleared out the cherry tomato plant, tidied up the strawberries, the planter I made earlier in the year and cleared out some of the bolting lettuce and keeping my fingers crossed that the beetroot will start to grow a bit bigger.
I was invited to the home of new American friends who live in town. I took a little cream rose and a box of macaroons to have with our tea. Three hours just flew by, we talked, laughed and talked some more.
Someone, I have no idea who, called at my home one afternoon as I was dozing in the chair. They left me a book (English) so I now have something else to read.
After the closure of the cinema, I wondered if I would ever see Sara, one of the co-operatives, again. She used to take one of the French classes that Jony and I attended and she had always been very friendly to me. Well yesterday I saw her talking to Françoise (the regular cinema attendee who munched on chocolate bars) I spoke to them both then asked Sara if I could speak to her in English, apologising to Françoise for the change of language. I had expressed how sad I was at the closure and as I was preparing to leave, I hugged Sara and wished her well with whatever she did next.
The CT scan is now out of the way there is only the ECG next week and then we can see what if anything has shown up.
“The Paralegal” has missed the poetry , so here it is back by popular demand, I hope you like this:
Excerpt from “Leaves” by Elsie N Brady
“How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colours gleaming in the sun.
My gorgeous grandson has started with the cold that “The Daddy” just managed to get over, “The Mummy” is starting with it too. I am not the only one with hospital appointments, my gorgeous granddaughter is going to hospital this coming Friday.
There was another market in town yesterday, by the time I got there, after lunch, there were not many stalls left. I did, however, stumble upon the stall that has sewing and knitted items. I can’t resist lavender bags so I bought some more, plus there were felt Xmas tree decorations and I purchased a couple of those too. I wandered down to the bar, met Yves on the way and we had a little chat, he was saying about the arthritis in his fingers, he always has a smile though and walks a lot to help his circulation. The bar are now offering cocktails, I asked Christophe if he had honed the moves for mixing cocktails and we had a little laugh as he showed his moves. Then it was home to cut the grass, turn the compost and then have a nice relax.
Hopefully I will be back with my knitting workshop ladies next week.
When I was in the UK I bought some small lavender bags, some I saw were £4.99 each (they were tiny), these two cost me 3€, the lady just handed me this bag, which has a fish shaped bag, (fish are the great Tunisian good luck symbol) and you must admit the other does have a little “tartan” effect so represents north of my birthplace.

Bon week-end.

If you have trouble eating due to depression/ED/nausea/food issues/etc.
It's okay, it's not a personal failing, it's just a thing that happens sometimes
Have a list of "safe foods" that you can almost always convince yourself to eat. At the height of my food issues, mine were apples, baby carrots, canned tomato soup, and green tea
Portion size. If a full plate is intimidating or off-putting, make the food bite-sized. Depression made me hate opening my mouth very far, so if I couldn't munch on it, I didn't want it. Cut large food small. You can have the same food, but portion it out like snacks, even on multiple plates of you'd like. Or put it on a serving platter. You'll trick yourself into eating more
Protein is your friend. If you can't stomach a regular meal, find a powdered protein shake that you can mix into a glass of milk (nondairy if regular gives you issues). If you like peanut butter, try to incorporate it. I like melting a spoonful of peanut butter into oatmeal to sneak in that protein
Try following a sickie diet for a while. Toast, clear beverages, cottage cheese, noodles, tea, etc. Food that's fatty, spicy, greasy, fried, or has a strong smell might come back to bite you, especially if it's the only thing you've eaten that day
Try to find one thing in each food group that you can handle. One vegetable, one fruit, one dairy, one protein, one grain. Getting a little variety will help you feel a little better and prevent the chances of getting a nutrient deficiency on top of everything else
Canned soup is a godsend. Just heat it up and it's good to go. Smooth soups like tomato can be sipped from a thermos if you want. If you need to chew something, soups like chicken noodle are familiar and have a consistent flavor without being completely liquid
Distract yourself. A lot of nutritionists say that you shouldn't eat in front of the TV, because you'll be focused on the show and not pay attention to how much you're eating. Ignore them, because mindless is what we're aiming for. Portion out your food beforehand, sit down, and turn on something to watch. It could be a show, a movie, or a long YouTube video. By the time you're done, you might've eaten more than you thought you would
I hope this helps whoever reads it

Chicken salad sandwiches are a classic summertime favorite, beloved by many for their perfect mix of creamy avocado, crunchy vegetables and juicy chicken. But what is the real reason why they are so popular? According to nutrition experts, one of the biggest draws of these sandwiches is the fact that they offer a healthy, balanced meal in one convenient package.
Packed full of protein, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats, chicken salad sandwiches provide an optimal combination of nutrients for sustained energy and fullness throughout the day. The lean protein in the chicken helps to build muscle and keep you energized, while the healthy fats and complex carbohydrates provide you with long-term fuel. Additionally, the crunchy vegetables like lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers add a delicious texture to the sandwich while also contributing important vitamins and fiber.
Another great aspect of chicken salad sandwiches is their versatility: throw in some dried cranberries for a sweet-tart flavor, or some nuts for added crunch—whatever your preference! They are also a great vehicle for getting your daily servings of fruits and vegetables: try adding some thinly sliced apples or pears or munch on some leafy greens alongside your sandwich.
These tasty sandwiches are more than just delicious, they are a quick, balanced meal that can fit easily into any on-the-go lifestyle. So enjoy your summer days with a healthy, flavorful chicken salad sandwich and nourish your body while indulging your taste buds.
