It was so close. Too close for Cucumber to be comfortable with..

He was so close to getting through to Noisemaster. The Master had said it himself! He was sick of this. For 500,000 years this cycle has been going for them. Cucumber and his friends were the latest rag-tag group of kids heroes sent to save the world.

He got them to talk. He could have gotten them to listen to him and find a solution that would mean peace for all of them! He didn't understand what was so hard about that, or why every single force he encountered suggested that it couldn't be done. Why not??? Why couldn't they make amends?

Cucumber was ready to talk. Almond was not. By the time she attacked, he wasn't able to stop her. It set them off again and in turn, so did Princess Piano.

The canon was charged, they were too late. Peace wasn't an option anymore, there wasn't anything they could do.

... but Noisemaster failed anyway.

Cucumber remembered the panic. The talk. The one step to peace and 10 steps backward towards the cycle again. Noisemaster and Mutemaster giving up in front of them... it was all too close.
