This is from my TK finds out Carlos doesn't have a favorite movie and sets out to find him one fic (it has a potential title but I'm too ashamed to share it lol)

“Are you forgetting that we’ve been together for four years?” Carlos asked. “I’ve seen every movie you’ve shown me. In fact, I bet I’ve seen every movie Brad Pitt or Patrick Swayze ever made”.

“Ah, Swayze”. TK smiled dreamily, briefly distracted by this new thought. “I would have loved to see movies where he kicks ass or teaches dance as an old guy. So unfair. Wait,” TK added, coming back to their conversation. “Babe, are one of those movies your favorite?”

Carlos shook his head. “I don’t think so, baby. There are some I don’t mind revisiting”.

“Okay”. TK nodded. “Let’s go the other way. Is there one that’s your least favorite?”

“Twelve Monkeys,” Carlos answered without missing a beat.

“Bet you’re regretting volunteering now,” he says sadly, gesturing at the window and using the storm as a cover for himself. “Or even coming to Antarctica this season to begin with.”

Carlos’ head bows slightly while TK waits for an answer. When one doesn’t come, TK fills the silence, “You know… I didn’t know if you’d ever come back here.”

“I figured,” he mutters to himself and TK’s suspicions are halfway to being confirmed before Carlos shakes himself out of it and gives TK a more standard response. “My family thought it was a good idea.”

“I mean it, Carlos. I really didn't think I was ever going to see you again,” TK insists.

And it broke my heart. I understood why you left, but it broke my heart to watch it happen.

Carlos’ expression softens. “I know, TK. You didn’t do anything wrong.”

So Tech is alive- probably in the hands of Hemlock(bitch) which isn't GREAT but it's the best we have-

How do we explain the broken goggles?? Only the glass is shattered

An easy explanation is "He fell!!!! He obviously broke them in the crash" which is- fine, I guess, but its not really accounting for his the fact that his entire body fell- probably back first which means the straps would have snapped no questions asked

(and realistically his neck would have broken and he would have died but since that's Not What Happened we're ignoring that)

But they didn't break. The actual lenses themselves are in almost perfect condition, look-

I know it's a pretty grainy picture, but the goggles are intact. The little blinker he always has on to record things hasnt even got a dent in it. There's no way the fall did this.

So what happened? How did they break? How did Hemlock get his hands on them?

My running theory is he managed to survive the fall, but was later hunted down/found by TK troopers and in his state couldn't fend all of them off. Bet he took a few out before his shit got rocked, though

My other theory is Hemlock was the one who found Tech, and given he has a different(probably prosthetic/metal) hand, he probably got knocked tf out. I'm imagining that like Thrawn in Rebels, Hemlock isn't just a scientist who relies on guns and gasses. I bet he could throw a punch or two

He could probably swing hard enough to shatter glass, especially if his gloved hand is metal

But really if Tech is alive, he's most likely going to turn into a faceless purge trooper and we'll never really know what happened to him. Or worse, we just get little references about how his body was used for science, pushing Echo's (final) arc further along.

TBB specualtion based on that leak, so since this is concrete-ish I'll cut

So, this is looking more and more like my earlier speculation that it's Crosshair who gets out early and Omega who remains behind may be the case. This is interesting for a few reasons:

It plays into the 'you left me behind/we don't leave our own behind' push and pull. If Omega sacrifices her freedom to let him get away, which would track with scenes of the doggo we see them with at the crash site attacking a TK trooper, then Crosshair will now see things from Hunter's perspective.

If we assume Tech wasn't actually intending/expecting to die but instead was tossing aside his own immediate safety for a riskier plan, this is Omega following suit. Possibly she's figured this out by now, or realizes/knows it.

This allows for a reconciliation between Hunter and Cross which is in effect mutual forgiveness; 'I wish we hadn't left you' 'I wish you hadn't needed to', which is ultimately where this needs to go. Neither of them was wrong, or right. It was a bad situation with no good choices, which Crosshair, possibly faced with the same, may now realize. (Hunter, similarly, will have the same realization when he hears what Omega did.)

This also allows for everyone to be insanely mad/happy when Tech turns back up. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING we're so glad you're alive IF YOU EVER DO THAT AGAIN I'M KILLING YOU MYSELF!!!! better late than dead etc.

As much as I want her reunited with them earlier, I bet that won't be happening until the end (or nearly the end) of the season. Cross and Tech will come back Sooner; Omega will have to wait.
