using the actual companion relationship likes/dislikes from the game (with help from the pillars fandom wiki):

i think Axa would favor Autonomous, Anti-religious, Impassioned, Pro-animancy, Dutiful, Progressive, and Worldly dispositions, and she would disfavor Animal cruelty, Piety, Skulduggery, Pride, and Racism.

as for Vaargys, he'd favor Lighthearted, Worldly, Piety, Skulduggery, and Resourcefulness, while he'd disfavor Dutiful, Stewardship, Traditionalism, and Anti-religious.

using my own personal characterization:

Axa likes people who are passionate, honest, open-minded, intelligent, well-read, well-traveled, progressive... and she has a soft spot for the downtrodden. she dislikes people who are dishonest, manipulative, arrogant, greedy, thieving, merciless, and prejudiced.

Vaargys likes people who are clever, funny, interesting, generous, patient, adventurous, and inquisitive. he dislikes people who are willfully ignorant, stubborn, predictable, stuffy, unnecessarily aggressive and/or cruel, incurious, and aloof.

11. who are your watcher's least favorite companions?

Axa: Maia. Axa doesn't like being tricked, manipulated, or lied to, and Rauatai's best sharpshooter attempts all three on top of having what Axa feels is a grating personality (she's got that "overly familiar playful rudeness" that really rubs Axa the wrong way). plus, Axa doesn't support the Rauataian navy in general or what they're doing in the Deadfire in particular, and she also doesn't care much for birds (funny, considering her fondness for Pallegina and her own avian godlike brother, Tico). incidentally, Axa considers Maia's brother Kana a dear friend. she also doesn't care much for Xoti (religious zealot, picks unnecessary fights with her bff Pallegina). i'd say she doesn't like Durance either, but he was never really a companion because the first and only time they met he insulted her grievously enough that she and her party saw fit to beat his ass and set his beard on fire. trust me, he deserved it.

Vaargys: Pallegina. too serious, too certain of her convictions regarding what he feels is an impermanent and imperfect kith institution, too disparaging of the gods he credits with saving his life and making it worth living. he convinced her to make her own trade agreement with the anamenfath in PoE1 and subsequently got her exiled, and when they meet again in Deadfire he tells her he never really thought much about her after they'd parted, earning him a very scathing and vulgar rant from her in Vailian, which he thinks is probably the most significant (and entertaining) thing she's ever done. he also has a love/hate thing going with Aloth because while Vaargys finds him fascinating and admires his intellect, he also resents the wizard's prigishness and steadfast refusal to think outside the box and cut loose. he likes Iselmyr alright though 🍻

12. what does your watcher think about the gods?

Axa: before the Big Reveal, she regarded the gods as forces of nature, little different from the weather, although admittedly a tornado is a little harder to placate than a god. her mother is very religious, primarily venerating Hylea (as befitting an avian godlike's mother, although back when she was a slave in Readceras she was known to whisper prayers to Skaen). despite being a chanter and a linguist, Axa always preferred Wael over Hylea, partially out of spite against her overbearingly pious mother (an artisan who would guilt Axa's brother into plucking himself bald so she could use his feathers in totems and amulets for wealthy clients), partially out of sympathy for her brother (who she had to watch get pushed around all his life by their mother, priests, teachers, opportunists posing as friends, etc.), and partially out of fealty to her father (a Waelite and cartographer who vanished while out on a job when Axa was 12). after the Big Reveal, she regards the gods as abominations of nature forced on an unwitting, unwilling world by a bunch of arrogant, paternalistic egotists, and the biggest extant obstacles to true freedom and autonomy for all kith. still, she tries to understand and even empathize with them– because she doesn't know what a computer program is, she can only describe the gods as being similar to sapient books or scripts written untold centuries ago, unable to say or do anything not already scribed in their pages, no matter how incomprehensibly outdated their content may be compared to the world of today. while pitiable, this is also unforgivably foolish and dangerous in an ever-evolving world.

Vaargys: before the Big Reveal, he regarded the gods as (probably) aspects of the soul of Eora, and Wael as the greatest of these aspects. a Glamfellen from the White That Wends, Vaargys was the product of his clan's priest of Rymrgand and the priest's young acolyte, a union that was unspeakably taboo and utterly forbidden. even after his acolyte died in childbirth, the priest vehemently denied siring the babe and refused to take responsibility for his upbringing. effectively orphaned, Vaargys was begrudgingly passed from hearth to hearth until he could walk on his own, whereupon he quietly slipped in wherever he could until he was inevitably turned out again. understandably, he grew up with a heavy disdain for Rymrgand, the god who apparently demanded he never be conceived in the first place, who deprived him of a mother and commanded his father to abandon him. he would often wander off into the snow alone, sometimes suffering debilitating injuries or terrible hunger, but somehow, no matter how bad things got for him, he would always survive. he didn't know why he'd been born or why he was still alive, and in the end that question is what triggered his first glimpse of the Hundred Visions. Wael touched his mind and rescued him from his life of loneliness and despair by supplanting the oppressive certainty of Rymrgand's end with a sweetly whispered, "but maybe...?" after the Big Reveal, his opinion of the gods didn't change much. upon learning the gods were created by kith, his first thought was probably along the lines of, "wow! how'd the gods manage to convince them to do that??" Vaargys knows that one question answered only leads to ten new questions asked, and the revelation of the gods' true nature was interpreted by him as less of a betrayal by the Engwithans against all kith and more of a sneak peek into the grand design of the universe, the will of the soul of Eora herself.

Do you think Turo and Sada knew/were friends with other Pokemon professors?

I think at least they had a friendly relationship with Sycamore, seeing as Kalos is neighbors with Paldea and Mega Evolution is similar to Terrarestilizing(?).

Maybe Professor Juniper as well- she's around the same age as well.

Maybe Sada discussed ancient/prehistoric Pokémon with the Rock type gym leaders, like Brock and Roark (let her be bffs with Rock and Ground type Gym Leaders okay?)

Did Turo talk with Electric and Steel type gym leaders about the technology they used in their gyms?

As they were Champion rank Trainers, did they know the other Region Champions?

If yes, then I feel like Arven maybe spent time with all these people when he was young, before his parents split and his mother/father became consumed with their research. That the other professors had no idea what they were up to, or that they were neglecting their son. Because I doubt Oak and Elm and Birch- fathers and grandfathers themselves- would be okay with Turo and Sada just leaving their kid to his own devices. Hell, it seems like Clavell (a Pokémon researcher and Sada/Turo's friend/mentor in a sense)- with what little he knew of the situation- wasn't okay with it (why he left Arven all alone despite possibly knowing what was going on is something for a separate post).

I feel like Oak, being the most senior after Rowan, would lose his shit, seeing as he not only raised a kid, but possibly raised his grandkids (we never see Blue and Daisy Oak's parents, and it's implied Daisy raised her brother, at least partially. Oak could've neglected them, but seeing as Blue eventually starts studying to be a Professor, possibly to replace his grandfather, I'm not sure as he seems to admire Oak, only resenting him as a kid/teen). Elm and Birch, who canonically have kids- hell one of them is your rival's dad!- likely would've lectured them, scolding the one who left for ditching their son with their partner who was becoming progressively obsessed with Paradise to the point Arven raised himself. And if they were friends with Gym Leaders and Champions?

They'd be ripped to shreds. Hell, Bryon and Roark- two Sinnoh leaders- are father and son! Norman is your dad (not necessarily a good one, but still)! Alder has a grandson! Leon has a little brother who he possibly raised (haven't played SW/SH, only getting this from the wikis/my own mind)!

TLDR; Turo/Sada possibly had an entire support network of Professors at least to turn to but didn't and instead left their son home alone

i can't believe it's finally happening.

in early 2012, i picked the hunger games up off the shelf at my school library on a whim. my eldest sister hates reading, but i remembered that this was one of the few books she'd actually enjoyed, so i figured it couldn't be bad. not long after i finished reading, i learned that it would be adapted for the big screen.

on a school trip in april, me and so many of my classmates were caught up in hunger games mania. we tried our hand at being katniss with archery and pretended to be tributes in the woods. i wrote a couple chapters of some horrible self-insert fanfiction that's been lost to time, where my oc was bffs with some of my favorite characters: annie cresta and finnick odair.

throughout middle and high school, i made note of the release dates for every hunger games film, and i went to see catching fire and mockingjay part 1 in theaters. i revisited the series with a keener eye when i was a little older, and i began to understand the true literary genius of it.

for my last high school english assignment in 2018, we were allowed to do anything we wanted. earlier that year, our teacher had said something disparaging about the literary merit of the trilogy, so i decided made a short video about the series, fan films, and 1984.

on june 17, 2019, i learned for the first time that suzanne collins was working on a prequel, set to release on may 19, 2020. i learned at the same time that a movie adaptation was already in the works. i was skeptical when i heard it would be about president snow, but this series had captured my heart seven years prior, so there was no way i was passing this up. i preordered the book as soon as i could.

when it came in the mail on my twentieth birthday, i read the ballad of songbirds and snakes in that single day, for twelve hours straight. when i finally put it down, i'd managed to give myself a nasty eyestrain headache, but i was so, so happy.

i followed the production of the film with interest, as closely as i could with information made publicly available by actors, producers, and fans. i was always excited to share what i'd learned with my parents, and eventually, we were calling it my movie.

last year, in the last few days of august, i embarked on a mission to write a canon-compliant fanfiction about another one of my favorite characters, johanna mason. i posted the first chapter of "as long as i'm burning" in september, and i would write nearly 150k words between then and this past march.

although the fic has been on hiatus since then due to my copious mental issues, alaib and the canon series have been at the forefront of my mind all year. i started to regularly edit the hunger games wiki in may, and i've made over 2000 edits since then. last month, i even made my own private wiki for alaib on miraheze.

i cannot express how much this series means to me. the book release for tbosas genuinely kept me alive in some of my darkest days, and the movie is keeping me going every day even now. i love the world, its characters, and its commentary on our world. i love its message of hope and recovery in such cruel, dire circumstances. i love its love for kindness, freedom, and justice.

and i love that i get to share it with all of you. because even though i had nothing to do with its creation, tbosas feels so deeply personal to me. in my heart it's my movie, and i can't wait for everyone to be able to see it.

i've queued this over a week in advance because i don't expect to be nearly so coherent the day of. at time of posting, i should be heading into the theater, and the hunger games: the ballad of songbirds and snakes will be beginning any minute now.

this has been such an incredible journey. i'll see you in a few hours.

Hi hello! Preliminary disclaimer: you ship what you want, its none of my business. Also i dont know how new you are so if it feels like im overexplaining im sorry

Now im gonna get into the reason why most longterm comic book fans who dont stick to the batfamily usually dislike ja/roy.

First, lets look at why this ship exists at all. It stems from the comic book red hood and the outlaws (2011), where Jason, Roy, and Kory are all on a team together. Ignoring the fact that a lot of the New52 has been retconned since, though Roy and Jason being friends was still canon as of red hood and the outlaws 2016, that lineup originally didnt make a lot of sense. Pre-crisis (before the first DC reboot in 1985), Jason was a 12/13 at the time where the Titans were all somewhere between 18 and 20. He did hang out with them a few times, but wasnt in any way childhood friends with Roy or any of them. Very much a kid hanginh out with his big brothers friends. Post-crisis, that was almost entirely retconned, making roy and jasons interractions very minimal before rhato2011, where theyre suddenly bffs.

Second, it kind of does a huge disservice to Roys character. Bear in mind that while ive read a lot of Roy comics, it was a while back, so some details might get lost in the sauce. Mostly, he would not fucking do that lmao. The pillars in his life have always been Donna Troy, Dick Grayson, and Lian Harper, his daughter. Before n52, he just. Didnt give much of a shit about Jason Todd. They also retconned his history of addiction to have something to do with Jasons death, which, in my opinion, takes away from the real reason it happened, and his relationship with Ollie. On top of that, a petty nitpick I have is that theres no way in hell Roy would get close to someone who threatened his sister at gunpoint.

In RHATO, it honestly kind of feels like Roys just there to be Jasons best friend. (Side note: jason DOES have a childhood best friend. Outlaw Eddie Bloomberg,,,,,,my missed opportunity,,,,,)

In conclusion, Ja/roy isnt like. A problematic ship. If you want to read about it, good for you. Its just kind of very obviously written by people who dont care about Roy as a character, and potentially only skimmed the wiki article to get the gist of his story.

Though there is way more that MC is aware about, they ain't new to this.]

My first edition of Tristan had the nickname Trix, fc of Laura Harrier, and was a lot more jittery, stiff and serious, and likeIy to hide behind Viktor. Tis isn't -- confrontational but xe is Tired and not looking to run. Xe's an Adult and xe isn't going to go looking for xyr past but xe is not going to not face it if it comes xe's way. Xe has a mixture of Mature and just Done approach [but there is a deep latent teasing that Theo can draw out ... at the cost of poor Viktor.] That said, xe is also not that social [though xe isnt against a fun time].

I think xe knows xe is absolutely so so so into Viktor. Viktor [and maybe Theo] is probably the only one who doesnt know qwerweq2e. Xe is just fond of Theo -- ofc! Bc Theo is a loyal bff, even if she is a pain in xe's. Nothing else there! [pfft]

Xe is also very loyal to Viktor's famiy.

I haven't actually played with Neela yet. But I had the aesthetic and the possible ship [Penny!] and went from there. She is my cringefail child. My angry, cringefail womanTM. Bitter, bitter, bitter. Where Tis is Over It [highly very numb], Neela is seething to the point of corrosive. And probably violence. She's gonna make the besties squad WORK to love her, but in turn they will have her axe fist and not at all pithy comebacks. She is very protective of the little she has left.

I think she loves Viktor's family --- she just doesnt trust anymore. She has lost A LOT. She makes me cry and sad 12q3w4erew lol. Ima cry for her.

She is exhausted 25/6 and took the jitteryness of og Trix, except its less jumpy and more this caffiene and energy drink isnt that effective/is a chihuahua. It's the rage. But over ALL that is glitter and FUN!

Leland, the Chessmaster (CPC wiki)

I make this post to make sense over Leland, the main antagonist of the CPC story that cleverly written by LambCat to not make us not aware how horrendous bad he is until the end of season 4 part 1 (the gala fiasco 'not so nice' plan) and cuz... Ughhh I am not that good at chess game so...

basically calling out @cpcwiki for maybe intake 'bout him

I want to expand his personality section on his page, we're lacking informations but I feel a simple sentence from wiki could be expanded more (feel free to reblog, gives reply etc about this post! That'll immensely helpful to anyone espc to me as wiki editor - the one that bad at chess as always lose on simple early rounds to my friend hahahah)

Personality

Leland is a mercurial figure. With his sons, especially his youngest, he is generally harsh and overbearing, although he seems to genuinely consider this as "training for the harsh realities of life". This behavior extends from the relatively innocuous habit of forcing his sons to perform push-ups at the merest hint of failure to implied murder[2]. Much of Leland’s actions and behavior, especially towards his wife and sons, are abusive. -> S4 part 2 makes us learns how abusive it's actually is, it's very subtle yet frighteningly so scary - it could happened to anyone IRL and the worse thing is the victims not notice until too late. In nutshell, the mother (Isolde) ripped from her own sons since baby so the Plaid Princes trained as "the royal way" (implied to groomed them up so each prince matching personality of each princess) - this makes the princes to never realizes what's actually a motherly love is in their childhood that makes each of the son believes that their lives solely depends on what's their father (the Plaid King) wants [Lance mentioned that at, ep 156 iirc?] and that's make them suffers in their own respective way: Blaine soughts to perfection as the eldest golden child that constantly on the edge and believes to should climbing to the 'top of the mountain'. Lance as the middle child believes that the only way he could do is supporting his team which is do what Leland wants. Frederick the youngest as the effect of his accumulation of 'misfortunes' (born small, can't do like what Leland wants designing him to be, etc) deemed as the black sheep/scapegoat of the family. That's totally messed up and I could gladly to explain more but we're in summary

Lance canonical quote, uhh ep 156 likely! This the nail of the coffin that Leland truly abusing his own family and Lance know about it - but until invasion arc kinda brushed it off

"He controls everything about us. And everything always goes his way" -> if that quote isn't scary, idk what else

Despite this attitude, he seems affectionate of them, and wishes to see them happy. He is noticeably more lenient in terms of restrictions than his best friend, King Jack of the Pastel Kingdom, with whom Leland has an apparently close bond. -> this make entire of very confusing and ambiguous relationships between Leland - and literally everyone espc Jack (his BFF, but messed up in the fandom as becomes a ship 'JaLand' hahaha). I won't talk about it more as it should go on the relationship descriptions, something that me as someone that not as emphatetic will have hard time to relate

+ my biggest question on this paragraph, what's and who "them" refer? The previous paragraph where just writes the very concerning sentence about 'he abuses his family'? WTF. Who kind of abuser that wants the victim to be 'happy' where they are literally the reason of the victims to be unhappy?

That paragraph need to change but for now I am not sure, maybe starts with clear reference of which 'them' refers to. I blame whoever that writes that first sentence but if one thing that I hate is to checking this page to search someone to blame, because at the end it doesn't matter. The current wiki only has 3 active editors and whoever originally writes it prob gone inactive (?) - and I am waiting for a certain episode to be free so I could tell certain plot point to flesh out his personality as that particular episode is the main crusher and enforcer about a popular fandom question "Does Leland thinks Leelathae | Lilyth and by extension Gwen, beautiful?"

Once that ep free maybe the personality part of him could be added in following suit. Also maybe adding characters to be relate to him, priority is the Pastel Queen cuz they're meet

and uh the current relationship description need to changes espc from his own quotes throughout his interactions

Leland has a fondness for chess, a passion he shares with King Jack. -> this the original main reason I make this post

So uhh I am not remember the exact episodes, but he clearly loves chess as: at the amusement park arc he played with Jack while pastel-plaid kids go to the town, when Fred didn't come back in time and his brothers wondering about his whereabouts - in his hand he has chess-related book, and at the gala basically he has round of chess game which he wins with the move of - the serpent's gambit

^ Leland explains his "Serpent's Gambit". The biggest foreshadowing imho that the Giant Serpent of Frederick's recurring dream is 99.99% likely to be Leland as his own father. The Plaid King that canonically at the episode 133 depict real people of his world as chess pieces by creepily crafting characteristics of them - the hair, the color motif, even the thread between Jack and the late Leelathae

In nutshell, this panel shown that Leland consider the people of his plan (Blaine, Maria, Lance, Lorena, Frederick, Gwen, Jack, Leelathae | Lilyth) as his chess pieces. For his years grand plan [explanation after this] - and in that chess game, he forgot/not aware to consider important variables that wrecks his plan somehow: Isolde (his 'wife' and the Plaid queen), Jamie (Gwen's twin brother as the first genuine shipper of gwenderick), and the CPC as the entirety. The first two, Jamie and Isolde + Leopold unexpectedly became important reason for the major 'chess piece' Frederick to breaks free from his plan which to make Fred stucks at the hole 'until the Plaid troops come back to bringing the kidnapped Pastel Princesses'. The 'chess piece' that warns the role of supporter in the CPC story, the CPC itself as entirety to hurry saves the princesses of the Pastel Kingdom

All of the 'pawns' involved not aware that they are merely pawn pieces in his plan. The quote on that panel in my own retake honestly tragic. Leland with his fickleness of his heart's sky not truly understand what love, what true love is actually... He thoughts that love is simply meeting someone on the opposite gender (if his HC being repressed gay is the truth, so he try to make heterosexual pairings as WARNING FOR MINOR FP EP 162 SPOILER When Jack happy for the incoming playdates of their future 'daughters', Leland instantly tells that he will get lots of sons) of three princes as his sons bethroted to marry Jack's daughters of the rule of three (somehow - that likely making the plaid-pastel pairings has bonding interest, the oldest is music-the middle is army and sports- the youngest books) fall in love and 'live happily ever after' but like Prez said, no one can't define what's own happiness is except oneself... Prez is happy to be aroace, Gwen is happy to could be with Frederick romantically - and that's totally valid source of happiness.. no one can't say otherwise, not even themself

A character to me depicted by themself (espc from their actions and inner thoughts) and by others (as relationships to anyone they're interact, their family - friends - collagues etc). And Leland is truly a very complex character to cipher, to put his description on the wiki. I am afraid as I might be too subjective if writing about him... and I think I desperately need another's opinion + this an OPEN CHALLENGE to delegate the impossible wiki works, with writing about Leland from the canon hints that I spread on. Just rereading the CPC guys, you become horrified when knowing the context of Leland's abuse that actually clear since ep 16!
