have to change up my age-old isolde design bc i started to draw her for round table mecha purposes and then. Realized. what an anime girl with brown skin, no bangs, double buns at the nape of her neck, who wears flowy dresses with loose sleeves and has a sort of cut out on her dress near her collarbones, and is from a piece of mecha media. would INSTANTLY clock as to anyone even vaguely familiar w the genre. whoops.

I'm FGO's biggest hater so you know I'm serious when I say this all began with FGO releasing in English in 2017. No longer could Type-Moon bury their heads in the sand and pretend an international audience for their visual novels didn't exist, not when JAlter sales alone made 3 million dollars.

Anyway, it's actually really cool that we can see Nasu go back and decide an actual intended reading order for Type-Moon works. Mahoyo was written first but never released to the public, Kara No Kyoukai sold like 6 copies on its first release so nobody read it, while Tsukihime and even the original Fate/Stay Night would stay out of mainstream store fronts due to being eroge, leading to readers coming in to Type-Moon almost entirely through (often troubled) adaptations and never the source material.

But it doesn't have to be like that anymore. Mahoyo got remade in 2012 as a VN, Fate/Stay Night got rereleased as a mainstream commercial work on the PS2 with Realta Nua, and Tsukihime got a Remake for consoles.

So it's pretty cool that Nasu used the first official English (and Simplified Chinese, they're an even bigger market tbh) translations of his novels to make something of an actual reading order.

Do you want to get into Type-Moon? Read Witch on the Holy Night, it's simple, has no routes or choices, and lays all the basic foundations of the setting. Tsukihime: A Piece of Blue Glass Moon then elaborates on the monsters and the militaristic Holy Church that Mahoyo introduced. Finally, Fate/Stay Night rounds this out by going back to the mages, getting deeper into their society and while introducing a whole other kind of monster in the heroic spirits that became so iconic to the entire otakusphere.

Fate/Extra CCC English Fan Translation Now Available

Team Iwakura Productions has announced in their latest blog post that the highly anticipated English fan translation patch for Fate/Extra CCC is now available for download.

Entries in the Type-MOON-developed Fate franchise have long since required fan translations for overseas fans such as myself to enjoy. From Fate/stay night to my personal favorite, Fate/hollow ataraxia, fans have undoubtedly been the backbone for iconic Fate-related experiences in the West. And now, yet another game has joined the fray, Fate/Extra CCC.

Initially launched in Japan for PSP in 2013, Kinoko Nasu wrote the story, Takashi Takeuchi handled the character designs, and Arco Wada was the illustrator. The previous entry, Fate/Extra, was released for Japan for the PSP in 2010 before being localized by Aksys Games and Ghostlight in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

A remake of the first Fate/Extra entry, Fate/Extra Record, is being developed for modern platforms. Players can choose different Servants as they experience rock/paper/scissor-like turn-based battles in a Grail War unlike any other. There is no estimated release date.

Fate's depiction of Cu chulainn:

It's an iconic design with the blues contrasting well with the reds and silvers, though it doesn't have much mythological president to the outfit apart from the shoulder armour and the Gae bolg.

Since the weapon is left mysterious and the only descriptions i can find being things like, Devastating spear, and that it's thrown from the foot and sprouts ivy vines inside the enemy much like excalibur it can be left to interpretation.

Changing the Gae Bolg's Thorn effect to an instant win that rewrites reality is very good in the fantasy setting that the nasu-verse has made but it's represented a lot better in Cu Alter's design where spears erupt from the opponent harking back to the myth.

The blues as well despite doing well to make the character stand out Cu in the stories i've read are either a very dark black or a blonde with it usually being long and hanging in ringlets, where once again Cu Alter does a better job at getting this part acoss with his long black hair.

Personally the design is great and i love the character but it doesn't have many things linking back to the original tale other than Gae bolg.

The icon, the goddess, the brain of the planet, and my very own wife (don’t correct me please) Arcueid Brunestud has a umm unique fashion taste…

Her OG version is certainly a drip of all times.. im not the biggest fan but hey who am i to argue with my wife (again dont correct me here)? the granny skirt is well… its a skirt!! and she has a white shirt too!!! What is this; the 50s?

On the other hand, i love her hair and will fight anyone who says different. In fact, her hair here is better then it is in the remake and thats a fact because i said so and my opinion is objectively correct.

I kneel before her. I can see why roa fell in love with her here. Her long hair… beautiful blue dress that simply demands your love and devotion to the princess of the true ancestors.

In other words, Peak. Kino. Fire. Gorgeous. Other words.

Archetype earth moves me on a different level. Her design is the best in the game! Well i mean she didnt actually appear in tsukihime itself afaik (or can remember actually) she did appear in Kagetsu Tohya and that was nice.

This is Arcueid at her best looking and i wont accept any different opinion because again only MY opinion matters here!!

On a side note, damn you altrouge for cutting arcueids hair. Damn you a million times i hope nasu NEVER puts you in the story (im lying pls type moon put her in the story)

This is the airhead that we know and love. This design suits that image of her more then og. While im not a complete fan i find this arc to be terribly cute and my wife (dont correct me on this matter)

The boots and leggings are perfection itself and while i dont like the mini skirt much it still works.

I do wonder tho what is that necklace supposed to mean. DAMN IT NASU TELL US… sorry i know itll be explained in red garden coming out in 2024 in the true arc route.

Overall i give arcueid an arcueid /10 (not biased) and recognize her as peak fiction and the love of my life

Comun works really fast, Aoko's FGO profile is already translated.

Mostly contains information about her social status in the clock tower, or information from Mahoyo or Tsukihime. Two interesting bits:

Aoko's poor money management and constantly robbing Touko both became servant skills

But so did her meeting with Shiki. Aoko meeting Shiki in the Tsukihime prologue was always a narrative passing of the torch (the protagonist of Nasu's unpublished novel pointing the protagonist of Type-Moon's first commercial work towards the future), but it's kinda cute that their meeting was so iconic they had to give it it's own special shoutout in FGO.
