Sun/Moon Fic
Chapter three is here! ( the first of the 3 stories i finished last week XD ) I had a lot of fun writing it. So hope you all enjoy it to

Chapter Summary:
With a small smile, he briefly reached further back pulling the tail of Moon's hat over his shoulder, before gently holding his face again.
“This...finally feels right, no…more than that it feels perfect.” He softly whispered
To his own amusement, he saw Moon's cheeks start to glow in a lovely brighter shade of red. Before he felt and saw him shake with silent laughter.
“Perfect… huh?”
Or
Sun and Moon make their way to the West Arcade. And get a little distracted on the way. But once they arrive what surprise would be waiting for them there

He was humming along with the song that was playing over the speakers. Rays swaying with every bouncing step. His and Moony’s clasped hands swung back and forth. The fact that they could do that now. That he could feel Moon. Actually, feel him. It still didn’t feel real to him. So he wasn't gonna let go if he could help it.
He felt a small tug on his arm. He had stopped again to look at one of the large signs
“I thought you said you weren't gonna look at every sign”
His counterpart's tone was fond. And he couldn't help the feeling of slight embarrassment. Scratching at his cheek with his free hand. As it had indeed been the tenth sign they stopped at.
“Sorry, Moony. It's just…. everything is so “
He looked around again. He couldn't explain how much better his vision was. He just had to stare at everything. He thought the signs looked pretty before. But now…? He was able to absorb so much more detail. He kept saving images, scared he was gonna lose this again.
Just, everything was brighter. He had more depth. And when they had run through the shadowy tunnels he could just see just as well.
He had never been able to see well in the dark. He had been made to work in the light. Only when tapping into Moony’s feed when he had been in control had he been able to see. But then again. Moon had several different night filters.
Moon's vision was also better. The light wasn't washing everything out anymore he had said. But unlike him, Moony's vision hadn't been broken. Just outdated.
Moon's hand squeezed his own. And he realized he had fallen silent again as he stared at Moon.
Because wasn't he a sight to behold. The fact that he was here in front of him made his rays spin every time he caught a glimpse of him again. When he wasn’t looking all around, He was looking at Moon.
One corner of Moon's mouth tugged up. He wasn't sure If that was on purpose or if Moon was also still getting to know the controls of his new body. But it looked good on him anyway.
“We done staring at El Chip for now?”
He giggled and nodded. Stepping closer as they continued onward towards the west arcade. Making sure their shoulders brushed every once in a while. And Moon was doing the same. Pushing back into his space. It was nice and close. They were passing the gift shop next to the arcade when he saw something.
“Moony!”
His eyes widened and he rushed inside. Moon stumbling along as he was dragged by the hand.
“What? Sun?”
He dragged them past several shelves. Eyes locked on what looked like the Daycares logo.
“Sun?! What did you..? Slow down!”
Moon continued to argue, but his voice stuttered out as he too saw their daycare logo, and they came to a stop in front of the large shelf. A big advertisement saying ‘New Products’ right next to it. And both of them stared at it.
He knew they sold merchandise of the daycare. He had seen it Most of it was in the gift shop just outside the main play area. He owned some of the plushies which they sold.
He had been the one to take them up to their room. Surprising Moon with them. And unlike most of their stuff. Those two plushies hadn't been broken. No. He had taken them up to their room the day they arrived.
They might not have been able to share cuddles. But the plushies could. They had helped with their communication a lot when Moon had gotten back online after the virus. And where one of their most treasured items.
But this shelf. It held more than the simple plushies and the Sundrop and Moondrop candies.
There were shirts with their likeness on them. As well as hats and bags and all the other things you expect. There was also a headband that resembled his rays. And nightcaps like Moony’s.
They even had sleeping masks! But also…the new posters he had seen downstairs.
“They made new ones”
Moon whispered and he nodded. Everything on this was brand new. He can't remember the last time the daycare got a merch update. But most important was what was sitting on the table right in the center. Their new plushies. They were thicker than the previous generation had been. More in line with the plushies of the glamrocks. Like they were now also part of the set.
He took a step forward to gently caress the side of a Moon plush. It felt soft. But with a giggly feeling he realised. Not as satisfying as the real Moon’s fingers still locked between his own.
“I think they look good…what do you think?”
He turned to face Moon whose gaze was stuck to the top shelf.
“Moon?”
He asked following his gaze only to gasp. There, on the top shelf. Where some action figures of them. It was the both of them, back to back in the same poses as the statues in the daycare. But painted in their likeness instead of gold.
Moon reached up, carefully taking one off the shelf. Inspecting it from all sides.
“I don't think this this is meant for little kids “ he whispered.
He nodded in agreement. And it brought a strange feeling to his chest. Almost everything that had been ever made of them was meant for kids. To be played with, not to be displayed. But this…this is
“We…we have a collectible..as if…we are part of a larger set of…”
He started speculating out loud and Moon nodded, the bell of his hat chiming softly as he looked up. Both of them stared at each other before he slowly started dragging Moon with him to another shelf where he knew they kept the Glamrock figurines. He had to know…if they fitted in.
Moon stayed quiet, taking careful hold of the figure as he quickly scouted the shelves.
“There!”
Moon’s gaze followed his outstretched arm toward a shelf with different figures. They came to a stop before it. Slowly Moon placed the one he was holding between a Freddy and Roxy one.
“Looks like it fits right in “
Moon's voice was wavering slightly. And the pumps of his own chest were doubling up.
“Yeah it does”
He held on tighter to Moon's hand as he felt a tremble go through his body. They were no longer seen as just the daycare bots it seemed. Slowly…very slowly. They were getting to be part of the group.
He turned to Moon, his grin nearly splitting his face. Moon still staring disbelievingly at the shelf. And seeing that look between happy and shocked. Well, he couldn't help himself. And leaned forward to kiss his partner's cheek.
Moon quickly snapped his head back. His free hand trailed over where he had just kissed. And it made him chuckle.
“Come on Moony, we gotta go”
Moon crossed his arms, giving him an unimpressed look.
“I am not the one that dragged us in here”
He giggled, as he started tugging Moon along again.
“But you didn't stop me eith-”
He cut himself off coming to a stop. His love almost knocked into him.
“Sun? Hey, is something wrong?”
A few paces in front were some changing rooms for any customer wanting to try on the shirts. And right next to it…was a large mirror against the wall.
He must have walked straight passed it earlier. But now…there was an opportunity here. He still hadn't seen himself…and it would be the first time seeing them together.
His rays were spinning at just the thought. Frozen in place. There was a cold hand on his cheek directing his gaze back to a worried-looking Moon. Making his rays do another spin as his cheeks gained a soft flush.
“Sunlight, what got you so nervous?”
He tried to get his voicebox to work. But the hand on his face was distracting. Just as the soft tone of Moon's voice was sending shivers down his endoskeleton.
He glanced towards the mirror.
“I..mmm want…see”
Moon tilted his head to the side following his gaze. Moon’s red iris widened slightly as his gaze locked on the mirror. And he swore he could hear his partner's fans starting up.
“You wanna look at us…together?”
Moony might not be in his head anymore but it was like he had been able to read his mind just as effectively. And he hurriedly nodded.
Moon's answering laugh was soft. Making his already heated cheeks burn brighter. But that was nothing compared to how they felt as Moon leaned forward to kiss one of them. And he actually let out a puff of steam at the action. Moon gave another fond soft laugh as he pulled away.
Before stepping forward and he was the one being dragged along. He kept his gaze firmly on Moon as they navigated their way towards the mirror.
He was shaking pretty hard by the time they reached it. What if he hated what he saw? Moony was so pretty and handsome-looking. What if standing next to him made him look ridiculous?
Somewhere in the far reaches of his mind, he knew that was ludicrous. But right now he was not being rational. Moon's hand trailed up his arm till it warped around him. Pulling him into a hug.
His own arm immediately did the same. Pressing as close as possible. Moon's other hand went from his cheek to his rays gently tracing them from where they had retracted into their housings.
“You are gonna love how you look” Moon whispered.
Red eyes gentle and kind. Like he could see all the fears playing behind his own eyes.
“It's gonna feel a little strange, but you will. I just know.”
He nodded. His grip tightened and straightened himself. Closing his eyes and started slowly counting down slowly stepping away from his lover and facing the mirror.
Maybe he lingered on zero for an extra second. But when he felt another soft squeeze of Moon’s fingers. It filled him with some newfound confidence.
Opening his eyelids he stared into his own surprised blue eyes. He had been told they were fixed, Moon even called them pretty. But it was still a surprise to see them.
More importantly. He wasn't smiling. His mouth was open in slight surprise and he brought his hand that wasn't holding onto Moon still. To his face.
Tracing it along the silicone of his jaw cheeks everything. Putting visuals to the sensations from when he was doing the same in Parts and Service.
But his thoughts screeched to a halt. As Moon stepped closer arms came up just under his own and crossed across his stomach as he was pulled gently against his boyfriend's chest.
He saw his rays give way for his partner to rest his head over his shoulder. And Moon took the opportunity gladly.
And he couldn't help but stare at the both of them. They were actually standing together. He could see everything that he was doing. What Moon was doing. What they both were doing! It felt so surreal
Moon was smiling happily, rocking them gently in place. And not only could he feel his cheeks heat up. He saw the slight pink flush on the plating in his cheeks as well.
Slowly he rested one hand across the two in his stomach. His other hand reached up to gently run his fingers across Moon's face. Enjoying the feeling of silicone, and the warmth of his blush.
With a small smile, he briefly reached further back pulling the tail of Moon's hat over his shoulder, before gently holding his face again.

“Perfect… huh?”
He hummed in affirmation, gently squeezing the silicone fingers beneath his own as he leaned further into the hug. So focused on those eyes that looked like he was the only thing worth looking at.
He wasn't surprised to see that they were the same height. Made being held all the sweeter. He saw why Moon liked it so much when he held him back in the basement. He didn’t wanna let go. He wanted to stay this close forever.
He raked his eyes over both the forms again. Their colors stood out nicely against each other. The blue and white of moon’s arms across his chest. His yellow fingers against Moon's face. He loved seeing this, he thought back to before having known to ever even the thought of being separated had been suggested.
Before they even were a thing. He had thought he could just live with just having Moon back. And yes, if he had to choose between Moon living inside him once more or no Moon and all. He knew he would have Moon inside of his head again in a heartbeat.
But this. Actually seeing him. Actually touching him. It was fulfilling an ache so deep he didn't know he had. The only thing he missed was the warmth that the Moon's feelings had always given off.
But as his face was titled up slightly and Moon left a lingering kiss just above his eye. He decided that sacrificing that meant everything if they could keep doing more of that.
The rays not resting against Moon were slowly rising in and out of their casings. His partner kept on leaving kisses against his faceplate.
He started to giggle in response.
“Moony! That tickles!”
It didn't really, but the outpouring of affection of his lunar counterpart was leaving him all kinds of flustered. A happy kind, he might squirm, but he didn’t plan on pulling away.
Moon's smile turned sharper and they made eye contact in the mirror.
“Now, it is perfect”
He let out another flustered giggle. Rotating his neck to face Moon in full. And also so that they could keep their hug going. Gently tipping the top of their faceplates together.
“Yeah, you are right, well…maybe one more thing could make it even better…”
His eyes dropped to Moony's mouth for a second. And even this close he could see the flush on Moon’s face get darker.
Both their fans were making soft whirring sounds. Their eyes fell nearly shut, as they leaned closer. Foreheads touching, then noses then…
An alarm sounded and a bright light shined in their direction. It startled them both so much that they jumped apart. Letting go of each other for the first time since they got reunited.
They stared at the entrance where a security bot lowered their flashlight. Let out the alert sound again. Turned to its right. Flashed his light, turning back to them. Flashing his light once more. Before repeating those steps a few more times
“Shit, fuck right, we get it, we get it. We’re coming”
Moon shouted at him. The bot nodded and rolled away.
Right….they were supposed to go to the west arcade. They were probably wondering why they were running late and asked security to look for them.
Moon was looking away grumbling under his breath and he pressed his hands against his face. Feeling the scorching heat beneath the new sensors. His chest motors still pumping in overdrive. As his rays had retracted.
They had almost kissed. They had said to wait until they got back to the daycare. But it had been so perfect! But now…he could feel himself pout under his hands.
“Come on, let's go…I doubt he is gonna leave us alone for long”
He nodded against his hands taking a deep breath. Glancing at his partner briefly before pressing his hands over his eyes again. Moon was still looking away. Look thoroughly pissed off. His hands stuffed in his pockets.
“Yeah…we…we shouldn't leave them waiting”
He mumbled. Whoever them was anyway Neither of them made a move to start walking. He was surprised he had kinda expected Moon to start stomping ahead after his last statement.
What was he waiting for?
“I am…”
Moon started but trailed off and it made him look up. Peeking between his fingers. And Moon looked less angry and more uncomfortable.
“I am not angry AT you….”
He trailed off once more still not meeting his eyes
“Just…at”
Soon let out a frustrated grunt and pointed at where the security bot was a few seconds ago.
His hands dropped from his face, cheeks still felt like they were glowing. His knuckles knocked against each other a few times as he swayed a bit in place.
“Yeah…I…I know.”
Moon glanced at him and looked sceptical bouncing on his feet uncomfortably. And he took a deeper breath. It slowed down his fans finally.
“Sorry, sorry…just still a bit…”
He waved his arm around as he searched for the words
“Rattled?”
Moon supplied and he chuckled slowly meeting Moon's gaze full-on again.
“That's one word for it”
He said with a loped smile that Moon returned before holding out his hand
“Let's get going Sunbeam”
His fans started up again as his rays spun happily as he took Moon's hand.
“Right! Lead the way!”
Moon chuckled before slowly pulling him out of the gift shop. And as he was pulled along by his lunar counterpart. He felt himself start to smile again.
The gift shop is right next to the Fazzcade. But the construction workers had left a couple of forklifts so they had to take the long way. By going down the turned-off escalator.
As they reached the bottom, They silently agreed to start racing again. Both of them took off towards the next one over so they could run back upstairs again. So fast, Until they were sprinting down the atrium once again. It made the giddiness from before return.
He loved the sound of Two sets of footsteps echoing around them. The loud jingling of their bells. And soon their laughter followed again.
Until finally they came to a stop in front of the doors of the west arcade. Clutching the hand he was holding. He patted down his pants, adjusted the ribbons on his wrists, flattened his new shirt, and resetted his voicebox, so it hopefully still sounded like he should. He was slowly getting used to it. But it still felt slightly off.
He glanced to his side to see that Moon had been doing the same. And was now fixing his hat before glancing back at him.
“Ready?”
With another squeeze of their hands, they stepped into the elevator entrance and pressed the Freddy-shaped button. Moon's hand held his tighter as it roared to life and brought them up.
It was because he was holding on tightly to Moon's hand that he wasn't doing his usual knocking his knuckles together. He was excited to meet the DJ. But he wondered who else was there.
Diana said they’d be waiting. Where it the Mini’s? It was likely they were gonna be there. But maybe the Glamrocks? But he doubts they have the time.
He didn't get much time to think as the door slid open they stepped out finding it surprisingly dark. They cautiously moved forward towards the golden statues of the Glamrocks.
But they saw no one. Moon gently tugged on his hand dragging him in the direction of DJ’s main booth.
‘They said the west arcade…right. I don't wanna wake DJ if he is asleep’
He spoke to Moon using their new shared connection so that if he was indeed in rest mode, there was no chance of him waking up
‘they did’
As they stepped onto the dance floor to cross it the lights turned on. The Daycares theme started blasting from the speakers. And all the Glamrocks jumped out from behind the booth
“Surprise!”
They all screamed in unison. And he stared at them slack-jawed.
“Congratulations on your new bodies Boys!
Chica chirped happily. And he let out a flustered laugh.
“You two look damm fine”
Monty bellowed. Jumping from the platform and landing on the floor with a big thumb.
“Montgomery Gator, please be careful with my dancefloor”
DJ’s deep voice said sternly. The big gator sheepishly rubbed his neck.
“As sorry my dude. Got excited”
The other bots were clambering down the booth. Chica reaching them first. Stopping right in front of him and grabbing his wrist pulling them up.
“Oh they really went all out on you two, didn't they?! You are so expressive now Sunshine!”
He giggled her excitement was infectious. And he bounced along.
“I know! I can finally frown! Can you believe it?!”
From the corner of his eye, he saw Monty also complimenting Moon. Moon's face was smug yet flushed from the praise.
He staggered forward half a step as Roxanne clapped his back. With her own approval. And both of them did a little show off of their new bodies for their friends.
Showing off their flexibility. Their new clothes. The way his rays and faces now moved. And everyone was a perfect audience.
It was fun being the center of attention. Moon even called the cable down and did some tricks with his newfound flexibility.
It was also how they found out, that the rings for attaching the cable now retracted into his back. Moon's clothes have an almost hidden gap where it would appear.
But this would mean No more kids trying to pull it. Which would be a blessing on their endoskeletons. He noticed he could call the tether still as well. But he didn't wanna take away from Moon's moment.
Besides his boyfriend was amazing to look at. His love always had the better control of their cable. And when he was still in their head as Moon flew around it always felt so much more freeing than when he did it himself.
“Sundrop, do you know if they gave either of you any other new features”
Freddy asked gently. After Moon stopped his short performance.
“Well, I don't know about Moony. But I certainly got something. But I hadn't had the time to test it. But I think i got enough space here to try it “
He felt a mischievous little smile come across his face.
“What the hell are you waiting for? Show us!”
Roxanne cheered.
“I was planning on. Can you give me some space? “
Moon hadn't detached himself from their cable yet. But moved out of the way. Hovering right next to DJ. Who folded his arms. And changed the sound on the speaker to some drums.
He bounced a couple of times. Feeling the springs in his legs. After a few bounces, he started a short run. Then using the pistons and springs to jump. Quickly soaring, that was way higher than he ever jumped and it made him laugh.
As gravity took him again. He quickly curled up to tumble twice before landing square on his feet. Arms outstretched.
“Holy sh-” Monty was elbowed by Freddy cutting off his swear. Chica was shouting wildly while Roxanne whistled.
But Moon’s impressed fond look was the best reaction of all. Then his grin shifted.
‘Stay right where you are Sunbeam’
Moon's voice echoed inside his head. And his own grin broadened. Moon quickly jumped down, doing a little summersault of his own. Detaching the cable as he reached the ground.
Cartwheeling his way over. Before jumping up himself. He didn't get the same height he got. Not even half of it. But that didn’t matter, he got high enough.
Seeing what he was doing. He crouches down just enough for Moon to place his hands on top of his before straightening once more. Their fingers clenching together in their hold.
Moon doing the handstand on top of him. He tilted his head up with a laugh. As Moon cackled happily.
“Wait how did they?!”
Monty tail was wagging on the floor.
“That's very impressive indeed. I bet the kids would love that”
Freddy's calm voice cut through as well.
But he only had eyes for the bot above him. They both let go of one arm and he shifted to stand on one leg to strike an even more impressive pose. Beaming at their audience, who clapped and cheered for them.
Once they were holding hands securely once more. He thought of another fun idea.
‘Think you could handle a switch Moonbeam?’
‘of course. Will you allow me to scare them a bit?’
He glanced back at the other bots. DJ gave them a thumbs up. The other four still staring at them in disbelief.
‘go for it’
He felt Moon shift his weight and he moved with him. And while he had full control. He knew that it looked.like.they were losing their balance.
“You two stuck or something? “ Roxanne asked
Moon wobbled a bit swaying back and forth. Head turned away so the others couldn’t see his big grin. But he could see it and the joy was infectious. He looked straight up. Probably making it seem like he was paying extra attention. But not in the way others thought. He moved with the momentum.
“Guys! you guys should look out!”
Chica clucked worryingly.
“We could help you if you need assistance”
Freddy offered worriedly and it sounded like he stood up and came closer

Moon announced. And he Swayed him backward as fast as he could. Making it look like he fell off. But their hands were still locked together. And using the springs in his legs. He kicked off the second Moon's feet had hit the ground kicking himself upright.
So now they were in a perfect mirrored position of their previous pose. Both laughed manically at the Glamrocks' shocked faces. As they rotated their heads to face them.
“Did You guys really think Sun would drop me? “
He giggled holding on a bit tighter as Moon walked closer to the others. Kicking his legs back and forth excitedly. Moon not even swaying with the motions.
“Or Moon wouldn't know his own limits?”
He found great pleasure in the wide-eyed stares and amazed faces of their friends.
“You two are jesters all right, scaring us half to death”
Monty grumbled. He let go of one of Moon’s hands to knock at his chest.
“We are quite sturdy as well. A little fall won't hurt either of us. We gotta protect the little ones “
He held Moon's hand again. Who after a soft squeeze then slowly crouched down. So he could swing his legs back down safely. And with a few rotations of his many new joints was standing upright on the ground again.
“Something wrong?”
Moon asked looking at Roxy, who was looking between them with an odd expression. His own hand came to rest across Moon's lower back. Trying not to grin harder as he felt him lean into the hold.
She waves her hand dismissively. Flipping her hair back.
“Nah, just curious. You guys never done any of that together right?”
He cocked his head to the side confused.
“How would we even before today?”
She frowned.
“Yeah, I get that. Not what I meant. More like. It's impressive how well coordinated and performed that was. Like you two knew each other strengths exactly. Like you’ve been doing it for years. Like no wonder, you two are such good partners. Makes a girl jealous”
He felt his face flush and his rays spin quickly. As Roxy called them partners
“Ah..miss Roxy… thank you so much. Yes. Yes. I am really happy we are too”
He was rambling a bit nervously holding Moon a bit closer who was fighting his own blush it seemed.
Partners.
He called Moon his partner in his head. But he just realized. He hadn't really called him that to his face. Not yet at least…had he ever? Had he ever called him that where he could hear?
Or boyfriend…or any other title! He had told him he loved him at the very least. But never a title…it wasn’t really needed being in each other's head. He could feel how his counterpart felt about him. But it still felt wrong, they had been together for over three months. And they really never did? How…
Then with a start, he realized something else…in the few hours since they had gotten their bodies. He hadn’t even said ‘I love you’ to him yet. Had he forgotten in all the chaos and rush of actually seeing Moon? Had Moon said it? He wasn’t sure, but Moon looked so wonderful and lovely. And he had hugged him and spun him around and how could you blame him for forgetting!
But He should. He absolutely should. But not now?! Not with everyone watching them so intently. But it was so very nice to hear that they seemed made for each other.
“Roxanne is right, but now I ask. Is everyone ready to get this party started?”
DJ cut in. Luckily this prevents them from answering the others any further.
“Party?!”
Both Moon and he exclaimed. And the others laughed.
“Of course, this is gonna be a party. Did you two think we just wanted to talk? This is a celebration!”
Freddy walked behind them placing a hand on their shoulders and pulling the both of them into a quick hug.
“Hell yeah, it is! Let's Rock and Roll”
Monty bellowed grabbing his hand and pulling him out of Freddy’s, and Moon’s grip as the music started. Pulling him into a dance.
He was disoriented for a minute or so. Before just letting himself go and dancing with the gator. Chica soon joined them both. While Roxanne and Freddy started dancing with Moon. Twirling the lunar bot between the both of them.
And they continued on like that for several songs. Changed with whom he was dancing with several times.
But when Chica tried to pull him onto the dancefloor for the fifth time he waved her off.
“No no, why don't you dance with Roxanne! Let me watch for a minute!”
He spun her around pushing her direction of the wolf who eagerly pulled her along. And he rested against the booth with a sigh.
His eyes quickly found Moon who seemed to be in some sort of dance battle with Monty that Freddy was keeping score of.
“You alright there Sunbeam?”
He glanced back and turned to Dj’s giant face
“Never better. Thank you so much for providing your arcade for us.”
There was a deep chuckle on one of Dj’s giant hands came down to gently pet him.
“Anything for my two favorite comets.”
He laughed at the compliment.
“Oh, that reminds me!”
He leaned forward to hug the DJ's giant face. And he felt the gentle hand pressing him closer
“And with that, I hugged everyone!. Prepare for more of those!”
“Always welcome. You and Moon are free to visit anytime. “
He nodded leaning against him.
“We know that. But we probably gonna take it easy after this. As fun as all of this is. I still can't quite believe it. I think I need a day to just…process all this ”
There was another deep chuckle.
“I’m sure Moon feels the same. Everyone just wanted to make you two’s first night back special”
His rays spun again. Giggling happily.
“It is. It really is! It's almost perfect”
“Almost huh, do I need to step up my game? I only give the best parties. I won't do with almost perfect”
He glanced at Moon who was now laughing at the gator who seemed to be trying to demand a rematch as Roxy and Chica came over to watch the comotion those two caused.
“You are doing everything perfectly. Just wanna dance with Moony. Hadn't had the change just yet. So unless you can make that happen?”
He looked up hopefully.
“You could just ask him”
The giant bot told him with a snort.
“He is having fun right now! I don't wanna interrupt!”
DJ shakes his head fondly.
“Wanna help to do some sound effects for the next song?”
He brightens up. Almost jumping up on the platform.
“Yes please!”
DJ lifted him up. And he had a lot of fun pressing random sound effects at different moments. His own grin widened any time it made any of the other bots below laugh. Moon had stepped aside for a moment and seemed to talk to Freddy. And he waved at them as their eyes met.
Shortly after DJ even let him mix some songs. He wasn't the greatest at it but it was fun. Then DJ even let him control the lights table! There were so many buttons! He let one follow Moon around when he was on the dancefloor. Switching between yellow and blue.
He made Monty angry by giving him any color other than green. And the one time he did. Roxanne and Moon quickly crowded him blocking out his colour with their own. Starting a chase. That lasted several more songs.
Eventually, he was lowered back to the ground
“Thank you so much, DJ!”
He got another pet and he turned around to get back to dancing when he was faced with Moon. His rays spinning around excitedly at seeing his happy grin. And more importantly, his held-out hand.
“Wanna dance?”
He nodded so hard quickly grasping the outstretched hand and was pulled closer. Moon's other hand landed on his hip. Pulling him close enough to quickly kiss him between the eyes.
During their first dance, Moon took the lead. Pulling and guiding him through the space. The second song was a faster, salsa-like song. And now It was him pulling his lunar counterpart along. Never once it felt like Moon's gaze was leaving him as they slipped from one song to the next. Changing who led every time, Sometimes Midway through the songs.
Enjoying the fluttering feeling of hands across his arms, back shoulders, and everywhere else. Sometimes they got the others involved. But now they had come together it seemed impossible to break them apart again.
The last song of the night was a slower one to wind them down. And he and Moon were just locked in an embrace laughing and swaying side to side. Spinning slowly.
Coming down from their flustered high. Moon's body was warm against his own. Seems the dancing had warmed up his internal temperature. And it was so lovely to hold. He could hear his fans roaring. Feel the plating shift underneath the new shirt.
One of Moon's hands came up and was gently rubbing one of his rays. And it caused a whole new kind of fluttering sensations he had never experienced before. He wanted to stay here forever. He wanted to press closer. He wanted to leave kisses all over his beautiful face. He wanted just to kiss him fully and so many more things.
He didn't think the others would make a big deal out of it. If he did any of those things. But no. Not now, he gotta be patient. He will make it perfect.
But he could do something else. So when the song ended he pulled out of the embrace. Lifted Moon's hand to his mouth and kissed it.
“Thanks for the dance Moony”
There was a beautiful blush covering his boyfriend's cheeks. But they were snapped out of their world as they heard Chica running towards them
“Sunbeam, Moonpie. That was so much fun. We should do these parties more often”
She screamed happily as she pulled both of them into a hug. Which he gladly returned.
“Doing so would be fun yes”.
Moon stated while making eye contact with him making his rays do another flustered rotation..
“We should indeed. If it's okay with DJ of course”
Freddy said turning towards the giant spider-like animatronic.
“As long as I am not left the one cleaning.”
He chuckled good-heartedly.
“Of course, we wouldn't wanna do that to you, my friend”.
Freddy reassured him, and he nodded as he freed himself from Chica’s hold and asked
“Right! Right, it would be awful to leave a mess behind. Do you need our help with clean up?”
“Hell no,” Roxy came over and put him in a headlock that made him giggle
“You two are the guest of honor. No clean-up duty for you two. Besides your guys' room changed yes? You should go check on that”
Oh my god. He almost had completely forgotten. Quickly checking his messages and saw they had gotten the okay from Alex to go to their room almost an hour ago.
Moon freed himself from Chica as well and with the cable floated up to DJ. To face him fully.
“You sure about that. This is your space We really don't mind”
DJ, waved him off.
“It's quite alright. I got four sets of hands helping me out. I think they can manage. “
He smiled as Dj’s hand came to gently pet Moony and he saw him briefly hug it back
“But thank you little comet. But I think you two should go before the lights go out. Wouldn't want to be stuck navigating the construction in the dark if you hadn't come across.it during the day yet.”
He had freed himself from Roxanne and held his partner's hand again the second he came down.
“If everyone is sure. Than okay. We'll be off! Thank you all so much. It was really fun,”
He said bouncing along with Moon's movements
“It was. Truly “
Moon agreed and Everyone smiled at them.
“The pleasure was all ours Sundrop and Moondrop”
Freddy said and they waved at all of them ready to leave. When suddenly Monty bellowed
“Wait we forgot something!”
They stopped and turned around, as the gator came towards them. And pulled them into another hug lifting them both off the ground.
“Group hug!”
The others soon joined. Even DJ warped his hand around them. And the gesture almost made tears spring in his new eyes. Locking his gaze.with Moon who looked equally affected. They returned the hug.
Before they were placed back on the ground. And with a warbled voice the both of them said their thanks. As they stepped back into the elevator taking them down to the atrium.
Waving at their friends until the doors closed. And the machine rumbled alive. He felt himself start to shake.
“Sun..?”
Moon's voice was strained. Looking as close to crying as he felt. And he gave a shaky nod. He waited for the elevator to stop moving and they stepped out. And as soon as they did they both fell into a tight hug. With warbled laughter.
Things were going okay. They were not isolated anymore. It was so hard to believe. But he was replaying the last few hours in fast forward.
It had. And at this point, this entire day was gonna be saved into his special folder. They slowly pulled apart.
“Ready to head to our room?”
Moon asked softly and he nodded tightening his grip on his boyfriend. He was ready to see their home.
“Let's go”

“Ama-chan?” Eri’s soft voice echoed throughout the room as she laid down on the floor, looking up at the ceiling with eyes filled with boredom. Her white hair sat on the floor nicely, being held up with two bright red sparkly bows that matched her red overalls quite nicely.
The elder looked over to the girl on the floor, an anxious look spread across his face - of course, that was his normal face but the fact that Mirio - his boyfriend - had left him in charge of taking care of the kids. ...it made his stomach upset with every thought. “..y-yes, Eri-chan?”
“...will you play with me?” she asked, now sitting up in a criss-cross position, the twinkle in her eyes shining as she looked at him. The blue haired hero’s eyes widened with fear as he shook his head. “...you know, M-Mirio is a lot better at these things...than I am. You should just wait for him,” he said, waving dismissively as he continued to ‘supervise’ her.
Eri pouted softly, standing up - she wasn’t all that tall, but it still amazed him how much she had grown since... that day. “Please..?” she begged, clasping her hands together.
Amajiki only shook his head. “...honey, y-you know I’m...bad at this. You’ll have more fun with Togata, anyways.”
“But I wanna play with you..!” Eri sat down right in front of him, grasping on to the hoodie of his hero costume. Her grip wasn’t strong but it wasn’t letting go any time soon. He might as well just let her be, he thought as he closed his eyes and tried to think of a way to please her.
All of that was cut off when little fingers missed his hoodie and accidentally danced over the nape of his neck. A gasp escaped his lips, almost knocking her over as he went to protect himself from the ... weird sensations.
“A-Ama-chan? D-Did I hurt you?” Eri’s pout had turned to a slight frown, her eyes wide with fear. Amajiki shook his head frantically, a blush creeping up on his face. Petting the top of her head softly, he replied, “no. Y-You didn’t hurt me. Could I call m-myself a hero... if you out of all people hurt me? ..I may not be as strong as Mirio, but I’m... still worth being a hero. It just... er..” the rest of the sentence was lost in a mumble.
“Ama-chan! You have to speak louder, or else I can’t hear you!”
“...y-you just tic...” there he was, incoherently mumbling the rest of the sentence to himself- he almost looked a lot like Deku at the moment but Eri couldn’t bring that up. A bright red blush was on his face, and it was starting to creep toward his ears.
“I think what he’s trying to say is that he’s ticklish, Eri-chan.”
Speak of the devil, the childish blonde had come back with the snacks already - and he had heard everything that they did. Amajiki couldn’t really function after hearing that word - it was like his whole body stopped working with him.
“...what’s ‘ticklish’?” Eri asked, fiddling with her hands.
“...you see, Eri-chan, our dear Ama-chan is very ticklish..”
Mirio went over to the side of the shy boy, watching him curl up in a ball - his heart melted at the sight of his lover. A bright red blushy face, small whimpers coming out of his mouth, hiding himself so that he couldn’t get to his most ticklish spots - what a cute boyfriend he was.
“...and ticklish.. is a feeling you get when someone tickles you. ...it makes them laugh.”
“..laugh? Does it make them happy?”
“Oh, yes,” Mirio teased. “Very happy.”
Eri’s eyes widened in surprise before getting a mischievous glint in them. “..h-how do I tickle..?” she asked, looking down at her hands and feet - the more she tried to find the answer, the more Mirio felt sad and relieved for her. She was finally getting childhood experiences. ...maybe one that’ll stick for a while..
“This is how you tickle, Eri,” the blonde said as he wiggled his fingers in place, watching Tamaki already start to squirm in place. The teasing was starting to get unbearable - the more and more they said that word, the more he got butterflies in his stomach. Eri copied his movements, seemingly still puzzled at what she was doing.
“That’s it! Good job. Now you just have to do it on him.” Mirio applauded her, immediately grabbing his foot and holding it in place. The anxious hero’s eyes widened as he struggled in place - Eri looked almost hesitant to do it.
“He’s... struggling,” Eri commented, worry filling her face.
“That’s what people do. See, tickling causes fight or flight responses - which means they either run away from it or take it like a man. In which case, he tends to run away from it. I’m not hurting him, I promise. And if I do, I’ll apologize straight away. Sound good?” He held out his pinky and she took it with a nod and a grin.
“Now, wiggle your fingers on his foot. Test it out,” he said, holding him very still with both of his arms. The white haired girl seemed very shy about it at first, not really sure if she was doing it right, but when she glided her fingers on the sole of his foot, the reaction they got was instantaneous.
“...h-hold.. o-on! Aaaah-! Ahahaha... w-wait, s-stop! P-please..!” Eri almost seemed shocked at the giggles that he was producing - then again, no one had really heard him laugh. A smile was all they got, and even that was rare for them. “See? They laugh.”
“M-Mihihiro.. p-please! Dohohon’t do thihihis..!” The soft giggles were still pouring out of his mouth, as he hid his face within his hands, clearly embarrassed out of his mind.
“S-So... Ama-Chan’s happy?” Eri asked, never letting up her soft but vicious attack of his foot.
“Mhmm, very happy.” Mirio commented, releasing one of his arms to wiggle his fingers at him. “But watch. I can make him happier. I’m gonna need to let go of him, so watch out, okay?” The little girl nodded as she backed up, watching her hero release his grip and sit on his waist instead. She tilted her head softly, still really new to this.
“Tickle tickle, Amajiki~,” Mirio whispered into his ear, delicately attacking his ribs one by one. His laughter seemed to increase by a little - it was full blown laughing and not just small little giggles. Eri gasped, a smile on her face. “...show the little girl you’re happy, baby,” he said, grabbing his arms and holding them above one hand.
Amajiki was just too pure for this world, Mirio concluded. Hair starting to get all messy from the squirming, a bright red face the color of a tomato, eyes pricked with tears due to him not being able to take so much. ...it was just all too much for him. It made his little heart flutter with joy.
“...so, if I tickle here,” she pointed to her own ribs and then proceeded to poke the side of Tamaki’s, “..I make him more happy?”
“That’s correct. He can’t take very much of this, however, so we need to switch. I know, here!” Mirio pointed to his sides, smirking softly.
“... t-tickle tickle, Ama-chan!” Eri cried out as both of her hands found their way to his sides, making him jolt in ticklish agony.
“Y-You.. guhuhuhys are sohohoho mehehean!!” Tamaki shook his head back and forth as he tried to free himself from his loving boyfriend’s tight grip. “..p-please stohohohop..!” By this point, the poor boy’s laughter had turned a little bit wheezy, in which was a sign to stop.
“Eri-chan, let’s give him a break, yeah? We can’t keep tickling him - but we can after he recovers.” Mirio stopped his attack, and Eri somehow surprisingly stopped hers too.
“...t-thank.. you,” Amajiki wheezed, covering his face with his arms.
“C’mere, baby,” Mirio said as he gave a small kiss on his forehead, leaning against him softly. Eri sat down on the blonde boy’s lap, gaining a hug from him. The blushy hero “reluctantly” leaned back into his boyfriend, closing his eyes softly.
A guy could get used to this..

Shayne walk out of the nurses office, holding the yellow slip of paper in his hand, flicking it a few times as he walked. Normally he’d be excited for PE, but now he couldn’t help but worry about his friend. 
Damien's probably fine. No, Damien is fine. What would even cause him not to be fine? The nurse is a murderer? No. The school would know that they hired a murderer, so I doubt that’s the case. What am I talking about? God, Shayne you’re dumb. Just really fucking stupid. Damien’s fine, he will be fine and you’re just overreacting. Shayne though, scoffing to himself. 
He was just worried, that’s all.
After making a quick stop at his own locker to drop off his backpack, he went straight to the boys locker room.
Shayne pulled open the heavy door, and made his way in the room. After fiddling with the combination for a moment, he pulled open the small locker and grabbed his gym clothes (a pair of basket ball shorts and a yellow-orange shirt with a logo from that summer camp he went to). Shayne took his phone out of his pocket to place it on the bench and began getting changed.

After pulling his shoes back on, Shayne took a quick glance at his phone. He had a new message.
Damien
Not dead gonna nap :) See you at lunch probably
See he’s fine you idiot

Ok see you then :)
He put his phone into his locker along with his other clothes then ran to the gym. 
As soon as Shayne walked in he was greeted by Mr. Moss who was standing near the door.
“Ah, Shayne! You’re not dead, that’s good.” The gym teacher nodded.
“Uh- Yeah, thanks Coach, also I have this,” Shayne said awkwardly, handing over the hall pass.
“Oh perfect, I’ll just take that then-” He took the pass and put it in his pocket.  “-thank you! Now we’re playing dodgeball today, you can be on that team over there, with Tommy.”
Shayne nodded and walked to the other side of the gym and Coach Moss walked into his office. There were a few kids that were already out on both teams, sitting on the bleachers. 
As soon as Shayne joined the game, he caught a ball that was thrown at him. After celebrating to himself, he threw the ball back. Barely missing a kid and making a loud smack as it hit the wall. 
The other team had about 3 out of the 14 people out and that number was going up. Because almost every ball they threw was caught by Shayne. 
Shayne had no time to throw, he was to preoccupied with trying to not get a ball to the face. Or any other part of him, but mostly his face. But once the main throwers on the other team out, he had his chance. He grabbed a ball off the ground and looked for a target. 
He surveyed the team. There were 5 people still in. 2 of which were standing near the door, and the other 3 spread out across their respective side of the gym. Eying the lone 3 players, he quickly came to a decision. Shayne aimed for a thin, lanky boy standing a couple yards away from the wall. And with a new found burst of strength, threw the ball.

Oh god what did I do?
The kid flew back.
FUCK
Like someone kicked him square in the chest.
I didn’t think that would happen!
His body slammed into the wall.
How the fuck did that happen?!
His head whipping back with the same amount of force.
Oh god is he bleeding?
It was like he bounced off the wall.
He was so far away from the wall!
Falling to the floor.
How did he-
Unconscious. 
I didn’t even throw the ball that hard!
Barley moving.
Oh god he’s gonna hate me.
Shayne barley knew him.
Everyone’s gonna hate me!
But soon, everyone would know him.
But it was an accident!
And blame Shayne for everything that had happened.
FUCK HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!
But was it his fault?

Shayne stood there in shock, the screaming kids around him being drown out by his own racing thoughts. 
The first thing he thought to do was run. Run to make sure he was ok. Run to make sure there wasn’t really blood. Run to be the hero.
But also to run away. Run away from any consequences that would fall upon him. Run away from the judgment. 
Before he even fully decided, his legs ran to the other side of the gym. His mind still racing as he knelt down by him and look at the ground. There was no blood. Only the red lines on the ground that dictated the boundaries of the basketball court playing tricks on him. But he also saw the boys chest rise and fall with shallow and spaced out breathes. 
Shayne sighed with little relief. He still didn’t know whether or not he was going to be okay. But the fact that the floor was clean of blood and the guy was breathing made him feel a little better. But only a little.
"What’s going on!?” Shayne whipped around to see, a very distraught looking, Mr. Moss running out of his office. 
He pushed through the crowd of kids that had formed around Shayne and after seeing the scene, immediately knelt down as well.  
He muttered under his breath before asking “Has someone called 9-1-1?” 
No one answered.
“Taking that as a no!” The coach pulled his phone out of his pocket and dialed up the number.
Shayne only heard bits and pieces of the conversation, his mind fixated on the sight before him. He was pulled out of the trance when he heard his teacher yell out to the class.
“Can someone explain what happened?” The coach asked, his phone held towards his chest.
“-threw the ball-”
“-like he was THROWN-”
“-hit the wall-”
“-the whole room shook-”
“OK ONE AT A GODDAMN TIME!” He yelled out to the overlapping crowd, making them go silent. “Much better, now can ONE person explain to me what happened?”
“It was Shayne! He did it!” A kid blurted from the back of the crowd.
Mr. Moss shot him an angry glance before turning to Shayne. 
“Shayne, can you tell me what happened?” The man asked, any trace of anger that was in his voice had left.
“I- h-he was s-standing away from the wall when I-I threw it and then he- when it h-hit him h-he flew back a-and hit the wall and f-fell to the g-ground-I-I’m sorry I didn’t know that would happen I didn’t know I’m sorry I’m so sorry-”
“Shayne! Bud! Calm down! Take a deep breathe!” The teacher said, cutting off Shayne’s panicked explanation. “You’re gonna be fine.”
 The man put the phone back up to his ear and began repeating what Shayne had told him, but in a much more organized manner. He didn’t get everything exactly right, but he didn’t have a lot to work with. 
Shayne could feel the eyes on him. Judging him. Whispering to one-another. He would never live this down. No one would let him. For the rest of his high school career, this incident would follow him. He would be known for this.

Shayne didn’t notice the group of paramedics come in. His mind to deep in itself to truly comprehend anything other than what was right in front of him; the barley moving body of his classmate. 
At some point the class was told to go to the locker rooms and wait. Except Shayne. Shayne was told to sit on the bleachers until they needed him. Shayne panicked when they said that. He thought he was going to get arrested and they were just waiting for the police. But after some time, the kid was in the ambulance and on his way to the hospital when a paramedic came up to Shayne.
“A-am I in trouble? Because I-I swear it was an accident I didn’t k-know that would happen- I didn’t know he would fly back like that I-”
“Woah, kid, you’re not in any trouble.” The paramedic sat down next to Shayne and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. “We just need to know what we’re working with. We were given a vague description on what happened, and something a bit more detailed than ‘he fell and hit his head on the wall’ would really help out.”
“W-well shouldn’t you be helping him? Talking to me isn’t going to d-do anything!” Shayne snapped.
“Well he’s being taken care of by my team. He’s in good hands.” They explained “And normally we have a bit more detail on situations like these. So you telling us what happened would help a lot.” 
Shayne opened his mouth before quickly closing it, then nodded. He explain what happened. Voice still shaky and stuttering, but more collected than before.

“Now when you say he flew back, what do you mean by that?”
“I-it was like he was kicked in the chest. Or like something from a movie. I- I don’t know, it... I don’t know. I just remember him like, bouncing off the wall and t-then hitting the floor.” Shayne explained. Voice wavering as he did.
“Ok, well that’s all I need. Thank you kid.” The paramedic stood up off the bleachers, but quickly turned to Shayne. 
“Also, I know probably should’ve started by saying this, but you’re friend is going to be ok. I’ve seen worse things happened and the person still survived.” They said and quickly walked away.
Yeah that would’ve been nice to hear.
Shayne sat there in silence, hugging his arms and looking at the ground. His head was empty, he didn’t know what to think right now. He wasn’t worried about the possible death of his classmate anymore. He was to in shock to think about what people would think of him. So he just sat there, empty.
“Hey, Shayne?” The boy jumped, pulled away from his empty head by the sound of his concerned teacher. “You can head out, you know that right?”
“Oh shit sorry, yeah.” Shayne stood up and began shuffling to the door. 
“And Shayne before you leave you might need this.” Coach Moss handed another hallpass to Shayne, this time it was red. 
“Oh thanks,” Shayne pocketed the slip. 
“One last thing,” The coach wrapped an arm around Shayne’s slumped shoulder. “You’re gonna be fine. I doubt you’re feeling to good about yourself after what just happened. But I can assure you you’re going to be fine. So is Eric.”
Oh so his name is Eric. Good to know.
“Oh- um, thanks, Mr. Moss.” Shayne said, nodding with a less tension in his shoulders.
“Ah don’t sweat it kid, now go get changed! Head to your next class!” The teacher said, patting Shayne’s shoulder then removing his arm from it.
Shayne smiled and thanked him then made his way back to the locker room.

As Shayne approached his locker, he heard his phone ringing. Confused, he opened up his locker and picked up his phone. It was Damien.
“Hello?”
“Oh thank god!”
“Damien are you okay, did something happen?”
“I should be asking you that!” 
“Wh-I- What?”
“Ok this is gonna sound really weird, but did something happen to you during PE?”
“How did you- what do you mean?”
“I swear to god that when I was sleeping I heard you. Maybe it was just a dream but you sounded freaked out. Like- like someone was hurt!”
Shayne was silent, he didn’t know how to respond.
“Shayne? You there?”
“Y-yeah uh, how did you hear about that? Did the news spread that quickly?”
“What do you mean, what news?”
“I-” Shayne paused ”I’ll explain at lunch.”
“What do you mean? Explain what? Dude what happened? Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. I gotta go.”
“SHAYNE WAIT-”
Shayne hung up his phone, and placed it on the bench. He sat down next to it and took a deep breath. He heard his phone ring again, but chose to ignore it and changed out of his gym clothes.

“Thank you for lunch, Alfred. It was delicious.” Bruce gently put down his fork and placed his napkin on the table. Alfred had gotten up to grab himself a glass of water.
“Glad you enjoyed it, Master B,” he said over his shoulder.
“I think I’m going to go work in the study for a bit.” Bruce stood up to leave. You gave a gentle wave as you chewed the last bite of your lunch. Alfred walked Bruce to the threshold of the kitchen. 
“Alright, let me know if you need help.” Bruce smiled in return.
Alfred watched to make sure Bruce was safe until he was out of sight. He turned around to start to gather the dishes from the table, but then saw you had already swooped in and started to clean them all at the sink. You felt his eyes on you as you scrubbed one of the pans.
“Isn’t the old rule: ‘You cook, I clean?’ Or are you going to be you and help in some way even though I can handle some dishes by myself?” 
You glanced at Alfred to see him let out a tiny huff, muttering a small “you cheeky little..” just loud enough for you to hear, before grabbing the towel that was on your shoulder and settling at the counter next to you. He began drying one of the plates that you had already cleaned, putting it away in its proper place before reaching for the next one that you hand him.
There was a comfortable air around the two of you. No words were needed. A calming few minutes of cleaning and listening to the music in the background, the occasional humming along coming from the both of you. 
While you were more okay than earlier, there was still a sadness in you when you started to think about your situation again. You want to do something. Even just being able to sketch, organize, or do something creative while waiting to hear back from potential employers would be a gold star in your book. 
But it was getting more and more difficult to do basics without help from Bruce or Alfred. It took Alfred checking in on you to get out of bed today. What if it keeps getting worse?
As Alfred put away the last of the dishes and you dried your hands, Frank Sinatra’s “I’ve Got You Under my Skin” started playing through the speakers. Alfred could see by the hint of a frown on your face and your slightly vacant eyes that didn’t seem to be focusing on anything in particular, that something was bothering you. 
He wasn’t sure what came over him, but he turned to you and simply held out his hand, determined that he could help make you smile, even for a little bit.
“What’s up, Alfie?” 
You look him up and down, trying to figure out what he was asking for. He just held out his hand a little closer to you. You warily gave him one of your hands. As soon as he had a solid and warm hold of you, he gently pulled you close and started to lead you into a simple dance around the kitchen. 
The two of you giggling like teenagers as you swayed and followed his lead throughout the entire song. When the song came to its close, Alfred lightly twirled you around and pulled you close, your hands ending on his chest and his on your waist. You both stood there for a moment, taking it all in before you spoke. A small but true smile was on your face, and it lit up Alfred’s heart more than he thought possible after the last few minutes of dancing.
“Who knew that Alfie had some moves in him?” You chuckled out earning a light laugh and good smile from Alfred. 
“Guess I never had anyone to dance with before.” You could see the truth and something else in his eyes as they quickly flicked to your lips, then back to your eyes. You felt your heart pounding out of your chest, aching to just lean in and kiss him; let all of your feelings out, unsure if he felt the same. 
Before either of you could make any sort of move, Bruce’s voice rang through the hall. 
“Alfred, could you come here? I need your opinion on something.”
  You couldn’t help but jump a bit at Bruce’s unexpected voice. Alfred instinctually grabbed you a bit tighter and gave you a very quick look over to make sure that you were okay before closing his eyes and letting out a small exhale in slight annoyance. 
“Yeah, alright. I’ll be there in a moment.” He called back. He then looked at you and slowly took his hands from your waist. “Well, I better.. Um…” 
“Yeah, you..” You gently pat his vest in an attempt to smooth it out and break the palpable tension in the air between you. “You go help him. I think I uh… I’m gonna maybe make some more tea and try to get some writing done.” You step back and start to put another kettle on, even though your heart wanted you to step forward and not let go of him. Alfred gave you a small smile and started to walk towards the study, but then stopped at the threshold.
“You could bring your notepad into the study.” You turn to face him, he was looking down slightly before his gaze found yours. “A change in scenery might be helpful for clearing your head some.” He stopped, thinking he had said something wrong. “But if you would rather not, then that is fine.”
“I actually think that would be lovely. Thank you, Alfie.” You smile and his heart jumps. You both turn to tend to your respective actions, unknowing that the other is smiling big and true smiles.
After letting your tea steep, you gathered your notebook and a couple of your favorite pens and made your way to the study. You could hear Bruce and Alfred talking. The words “enterprises,” “arts,” and “plans” caught your ears as you got closer. 
You knocked on the door before entering, not knowing if you should be in the room when they are talking business. Bruce and Alfred look up from the large desk that was covered with stacks of folders with the Wayne Enterprises logo on the cover.
“Hey. Alfred had the idea that maybe I could try to work here with you guys. But if you’re working on stuff that is hush hush then I can set up somewhere else.”
“You can work in here. The couch is all yours!” Bruce smiled, happy that you were trying to be productive and not isolate yourself. You quietly thanked him and settled on one of the couches that sat perpendicular to the fireplace. There was no fire going since it was too warm, but the aesthetic of the piece was comforting. 
You had been there scribbling out your thoughts and ideas for the last 30 minutes, overhearing some of what Bruce and Alfred were talking about. It was mostly stuff relating to Thomas and Martha’s foundations. Thomas’s was focused on medicine while Martha’s was on the arts. You knew a lot about each of them thanks to growing up with the Waynes.
“The new clinic on the east side is set to open on schedule. So we don’t have to worry about that.” Bruce moved a folder from one side of the desk to the other, then looking at the next folder in their dwindling stack. “This is one that I’m not sure what to do.”
Alfred opened the file and quickly skimmed the contents, a slight furrow in his brow forming as he was trying to come up with ideas for whatever problem was in that folder. 
“Well, we could see if a district-wide renovation is feasible. Theatres like the Geniol, Atlin, and the Ipeta have already been requesting donations from their patrons for repairs throughout their respective spaces.”
“The Atlin is still standing?” You spoke aloud and then instantly felt bad for interrupting. Looking up at the two, you began to apologize. “Sorry! I didn’t mean to--”
“No! It’s alright, (Y/N).” Bruce tried to smile and reassure you. “Yes, pretty much all of the theatre district is still standing. Granted, they’re barely standing, but they’re still there.” Bruce spoke while Alfred still read through the notes.
“Really? When I moved back here and applied for jobs in that area, everything looked deserted. It was like a creepy abandoned carnival.”
Bruce just nodded in acknowledgment as Alfred passed him the folder, still looking over Bruce’s shoulder to try to figure out a solution to whatever problem they were on. Seeing that your end of the conversation was over, you went back to getting your ideas out. 
The boys were nearing the end of their pile about 45 minutes later. Your writing ended up turning into a journaling session, which actually made you feel good. Getting everything out with no judgment was nice. 
Alfred looked over and saw you deep in thought, but not in a bad way. Watching you, an idea popped into his head and slowly started snowballing until he finally spoke up. You were so into your journaling that you didn’t hear the conversation near you.
“What do you think about Mr. Jeffin’s request?” Alfred asked Bruce, pointing to that bullet point in Bruce’s notes even though the boy didn’t look up from the folder he was reading into.
“For an assistant?” 
“Yes.” 
“I’ve considered it. With the arts foundation growing as much as we think it will, it could be a smart move.”
“I agree. Having another mind on the management team could help avoid any future problems.”
“I’ll ask Mrs. Shans if she could set up an ad to put in the papers soon.” Bruce closed his folder, picked up a pen, and started writing this new task in his notebook. Alfred put a hand on the notebook to get Bruce to look up at him.
“You know, Miss (Y/N) does have a background in the arts. You know her work ethic, how adaptable, and how loyal she is. Why not set up a meeting with her and Mr. Jeffins?” 
You were trying to think of a word to describe what you were thinking when you realized that it had gotten quiet. You peek your head up, worried that you had zoned out so much that you didn’t hear Alfred or Bruce leave. Instead, you find them looking at you, something indiscernible in Alfred’s eye. Your head tilted just slightly as you sat up and faced them more.
“You guys okay?” Bruce walked over and sat down next to you on the couch as you closed your notepad. You couldn’t help the slight fear that crept into your heart while thinking of the worst-case scenarios.
“How would you feel about a job with Wayne Enterprises?”

The Clone Wars Finale Part I thoughts:
Ok Listen, I have waited 12 years for the siege of Mandalore arc and the Anakin and Ahsoka reunion so you bet your ass I stayed up till 4am to watch it. What about it?? It also appears that they literally filmed the next 4 episodes as a movie and like just chopped it for 30min episodes which is really interesting.

Ok listen, we all know I wanted a sweet too good to be true reunion between Anakin and Ahsoka and I'm like damn what could have been BUT the reunion was *chefs kiss* perfect. Also the first thing he asks her is if she's ok! Poor Ani was so happy to see her and Ahsoka was just not playing! I didn't get my hug tho so im gonna have to force choke someone but this was all just incredible. Ahsoka is still upset over what happened with the Jedi, and after hanging with people who helped her understand the public view of the Jedi she truly wants nothing to do with them. She views the order as corrupt (which lets be real, it is) Anakin and Obi-wan are still apart of the order who betrayed her. I feel like she was letting her resentment towards the other Jedi get in the way of how honestly excited she probably was to see Anakin again. Anakin is excited and just so happy to see her but I think he's still low-key mad she left and moved on and grew up with out him. Also I think he was so happy to see her he like forgot that the Jedi order literally sentenced Ahsoka to die and blamed a major crime on her without ever hearing her side or believing in her. But this is why I love Dave Filoni, Like everything is so consistent and just makes sense character wise, if they had a happy reunion and Anakin was like “I understand why you left” it wouldn't make any sense cause he's about to turn to the dark side in LITERALLY less than a week. And it wouldn't make any sense because of what we see from the two of them in rebels. Like DAMN it was the perfect mix of heartwarming and heartbreaking and I will continue forever to be sad and loose sleep over Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano and their beautiful relationship and what could have been if the Jedi order hadn't failed them both so miserably. What adds to the heartache is they both think they still have time and will get to see each other later to catch up and so there's no need for a proper goodbye... SO YEP IT WASN'T WHAT I WANTED BUT IT WAS BETTER THAN I IMAGINED!!!
Also how dare they tug on my Obitine heart strings

They did such and incredible job intertwining this episode with ROTS. I literally have 3 more weeks of this. Im not going to make it. I'm stuck in quarantine and all I have is my thoughts. This episode SLAPPED and wow I'm ok I had to wait 12 years cause it was that good! I CANNOT WAIT to see what comes next and I’m NOT emotionally ready for watching order 66 again, on May 4th, with the 501st. Im sobbing!

Ship: Sal Fisher x Reader
Chapter 2 Summary: Feed the boy, woo the boy, romance the boy. That’s only 3 things, how hard could it be?

It was warmer than it had been in the last few days as you stood outside the apartment building. Your jacket was wrapped around your waist instead of over your shoulders, which was fine with you. It'd give a better view of the outfit that you had picked out for the day. You hoped he liked it. You hoped he even noticed it. You weren't one for dressing up at school too much- it was too much work for too early in the morning. 
You looked at your phone to check the time. It was 10 minutes 'til one. You still had a little bit of time before Sal showed up. 
"Hey there." 
Or not. Right, Sally was a good guy who actually showed up early to things like this. It was one of the things you really liked about him- he was never ever late. You smiled at him and looked him over. He was still wearing his usual outfit of a black long sleeved shirt and his ripped jeans but today he had let his hair down and was wearing a beanie today. 
"Hey there." you replied. "No pigtails today?" 
Sal shook his head. "Larry got me this hat, but it's a bit awkward to wear pigtails at the same time." 
"That's ok, you look great." you winked at him. "I'm pretty lucky." 
"Heh, thanks." his voice sounded a little flustered and you couldn't help but feel a little proud. 
"Shall we?" you asked offering your hand, and to your surprise he took it. 
"Let's go!" 
...
The festival was just a few blocks from the apartment building, in the nearby park. It was bigger than you had thought it'd be- from a distance you could see a Ferris wheel, and the smell of popcorn and corn dogs wafted through the air. You thought back to your plan and imagined all the things that you were going to do with Sal today. 
You were gonna romance the shit out of this boy. 
"There's a lot of people here already" Sal commented, looking around. He was right, there were a ton of people here, and a lot of them were dressed up in costumes. It was the Saturday before Halloween and a lot of the parents in town were using this opportunity to let their kids get candy and dress up beforehand, as Halloween was gonna fall on a Tuesday this year. 
"Maybe we should have dressed up." you suggested, feeling a little disappointed that you hadn't thought of it earlier. 
Sal just shrugged. "Most people think I'm just wearing a mask anyway." he turned his head towards you. "You're the one that sticks out like a sore thumb."
You couldn't help but laugh. "And Sally Face goes in for the kill! And just what are you gonna say when some kid asks what you're supposed to be?"
He thought for a second. "I'll just tell them I'm a serial killer. You said it yourself, I'm Jason chic." 
"The Sally Face Killer, huh? Kinda has a nice ring to it, like a good creepy pasta or campfire story." 
"Who do you think I'd kill?" he asked. "If I'm gonna go with this, I gotta make it convincing." 
"Oh you killed everyone in the apartments." you replied matter-of-factly. "You just went crazy one night and totally snapped and killed everyone because of... I don't know... Cthulhu or something."
"That doesn't make much sense." 
"It's a scary story, it doesn't have to make too much sense. You gotta suspend your disbelief." you smiled. 
You two continued chatting as you took your time walking around the fairground. All around you kids were playing pretend, adults were tasting some home brew ciders, and all the colors of fall and Halloween surrounded you. Even with Sal's sky blue hair, he fit in perfectly with everyone. No one was staring at him, well, except for you. 
You watched him closely as you walked around. With his prosthetic and one good eye, he could be hard to read outside of his voice, but that was a small challenge that you loved. Reading his body language had been an important factor these past few weeks. He was a very squirmy and antsy guy when it came down to it. There was always some part of him moving- from tapping his pencil when he was concentrating to talking with his hands when he was especially excited about something. Larry once mentioned that he'd make a great mime if he ever decided to not talk. 
Sal stopped for a moment and looked around, his eye landing on a small booth in the corner. Following his gaze, you spotted what he was looking at- a booth selling fresh made applesauce. This couldn't have been more perfect, you knew for a fact that applesauce was one of his favorite foods. He had confessed that he liked it originally because it was a food that he could more easily eat with his prosthetic on. 
"That smells amazing." you said. "Wanna go grab some?" 
His hand tightened slightly around yours for a moment, giving it a small squeeze. "I didn't have lunch." he admitted. "I got wrapped up in practicing before I realized what time it was." 
"Well, lucky for you we are at a place with a ton of food. Come on, let's get some applesauce, my treat."
There were several different flavors to choose from, the lady running the booth explained. The apples were fresh picked from a few towns over, and some of it was being made at the booth. 
"I've never had warm applesauce before." Sal admitted, before a spoon was shoved towards him. 
"Have a sample, dear." the lady said, not taking no for an answer. 
Sal awkwardly fumbled with the spoon for a moment before unclasping the lower strap of his face. 
"This is really good!" he said with slight surprise. 
"We'll take two." You told the lady, handing over the cash. 
"Thank you." Sal said, as you two walked away with your treats. 
"It's no problem. I gotta show my date a good time." you winked at him. 
He replied by shoving another spoonful of applesauce into his mouth. 
The next few hours were simple, walking around and chatting while stopping at different booths to taste and eat all the different carnival foods. You two compared notes, and had a slightly heated debate on which fall flavor was better. Sal liked apple cinnamon, you were a sucker for pumpkin spice. Though you were generous with buying a lot of the treats that you split, you did allow him to buy you two bottles of water and some crazy straws. You knew he wouldn't have been comfortable if you had been the only one spending money, even if he was a little bit on the completely broke side. 
Phase 1: Feed the Boy was complete, it was time for Phase 2: Woo the boy. 
Wooing in this case meant taking him over to the games and winning him a stuffed animal. You had considered going to the rides first, but after all the food that you two had ingested it was probably a bad idea. 
"What is that?" Sal suddenly asked, stopping in front of a booth. "Please tell me you're seeing this too, and that it's just not me." 
It didn't take long to find what he was staring at- it was a large stuffed cat, seemingly shaped like a specific cartoon character mascot, except the colors were all wrong. It was green and red and yellow with... the Sanity Falls logo on the stomach?
"That is an atrocity against God." You said in awe. 
"I want it." 
As if he needed to ask, really. Within seconds the two of you were seated at the booth, water guns in hand. No matter what the outcome, Sal was getting that stupid, beautiful, ugly cat.
"Let's do this." He said lining up his shot as the two of you attempted to fill the cardboard clowns mouth with water. Had this not been a high steaks mission, you'd make a dirty joke about this, but it wasn't the time. There was a hideous cat to be won. 
Both of your guns stopped working at the same time. Sal had won. 
"You can pick any of the prizes on this wall." The guy running the booth said. 
"What do I need to do to get that cat?" Sal replied, pointing to the other side of the booth. 
"Win three times." 
You slammed a few more dollars on the table. "I'm in." 
"You really don't have to!" Sal replied as he received a small stuffed pink alligator. It was ugly, but you wanted only the most ridiculous for your hopefully-soon-to-be boyfriend. 
"We can't just leave him here!" you said. "Can you imagine that dumb thing stuck here for weeks with no heavy metal to listen to?"
Sal saw that this wasn't a battle that he could win. This was your hill to die on, and he sat back down next to you. 
You won this time, that was a good sign, Sal winning a second time. You felt like the guy should have given it to you by the fourth play through where you won, seeing as it was obvious that the two of you were together but no such luck. You supposed he had to make money some way. 
All you needed to do was win one more time, and the cat would be yours. And by yours you meant his. 
Mid game, Sal caught your eye, his water gun jerked slightly to the left, clearly missing for a few seconds before steadying itself back. 
Sal was letting you win, the smug jerk!
You wanted to be offended but you also wanted to laugh. He was letting you win so that you could get the prize! You doubt he even realized that the reason you wanted it so bad was so that you could give it to him! 
Three minutes later, the guy running the booth was handing you the large stuffed cat. 
"He's even weirder up close." Noted Sal, looking him over. 
"What are you gonna name him?" you asked, handing him the stuffie. 
"Me?" 
"Yeah you, I won him for you, you know." you said with a smile.
"But you're the one who paid for all the games. How much money did you spend at that stand?" 
"Don't ask questions I don't want to know the answer to." You replied with a hand wave. 
"...."
"Hm, if it means that much to you, we'll do joint custody. You get him during the week, and I'll take him on Thursdays or something." You tried to negotiate. 
That seemed to allow Sal to relax. "I think I can live with that. Though I hope Gizmo is okay with me bringing him home a little brother."
You took his hand again, this time lacing your fingers together. "Knowing your cat, he'll be fine." 
...

BlankFace: I think it's going well! I fed him applesauce and won him the best stuffed animal ever!

SallyFace: g2g, about to go check out the stage!

"Come on! I wanna make sure you get a good view!" you said, practically dragging Sally behind you. 
"Why? What's gonna be on stage?" Sal asked. 
"Something that I think you're gonna get a kick out of." you replied, smiling back at him. 
Sal wasn't one to argue with you at this point; you had been doing such a good job at making sure he had fun that he trusted you with whatever plans you had come up with. He gripped onto you hand tighter as you two weaved through the lawn towards the front of the stage. 
"Looks like they're just about to start." you looked over at him with a shit-eating grin as the two person band with acoustic guitars took the stage. They started playing a slow melody before they familiar lyrics played.

Sal froze and stared at the stage for a moment, jerking his head between you and the band in front of you two. 
"No." he said after a moment more of them playing.
"Yes"
"There's no way."
"Oh yes way there is."
"This isn't-"
"An acoustic Sanity’s Fall cover band? Oh yes it is." 
You heard Sal snort from under his prosthetic. "Sanity’s Fall was not meant to be played like this." 
"I don't know, I kinda like it. I can actually understand what they're saying." you teased, wrapping an arm around his waist and holding him as close as you dared. You didn't want to be too forward and made him uncomfortable. To your delight he didn't pull away or tense up.
"You still think I can play better than these guys, right?" he asked. 
"Dude, of course. You fuckin' shred." 
That was good enough for Sal, as he turned his attention back to the stage, occasionally making a comment about how the band had transposed from electric to acoustic or about how one song didn't make any sense unless you can head bang to it. You smiled and allowed yourself to watch him, glad that you were on the same side as his glass eye- it gave you an easier time to watch without him noticing. 
A few songs later and the cover band left the stage. In a weird way, it had been a nice compromise to Larry's original idea of taking Sally to a real SF concert. Plus getting to see all the confused parents and adults around the stage really made it work. 
"So, is there anything you want to do?" you asked him as you both left the stage area. 
"I thought you had all the plans." Sal teased. 
"Oh, I do." you reassured him. "I had to leave room for 'let my date choose something to do', you know."
"So I can pick anything?" he asked. 
"Anything at all."
"I want you to get your face painted."
That surprised you. "Really? I mean, sure if you want me too, but why?"
"I can tell that you feel a little left out that you aren't dressed up for Halloween." he admitted. "I want you to feel happy, too."
That dumb boy made your heart melt on the spot. How was he able to see through you like that? He started leading you to the face paint station, and shoved some money at the lady before you even had a chance to protest. 
"What'll it be?" they asked. 
You took a look at their board, and pointed to a picture of a girl with the top of her face as a pumpkin looking mask. You didn't want a full face, especially something on your mouth. 
Sal watched with amusement as the lady went to work turning you into a pumpkin. Halfway through he snapped a pic and sent it to the group chat.

LarryFace: well me and sally face were talking about dates and he said hed never been on one and i said that she had been thinking about asking him on a date cause she wanted to give him a good first date
AshleyFace: Dammit Larry, don't meddle in these kinds of things! I think you gave Sal the idea that this is some sort of fake date!
LarryFace: oh fuck knuckles

"What do you think?" you asked, smiling at Sal and batting your eyelashes. 
"I think it's cute!" he replied. "They did a great job with the shading." 
"Thanks for doing this for me, by the way. That was very sweet of you." 
"It's only fair, you won me this cat." 
"Then I guess we're even right now. But I'm gonna win."
"Win what?"
"Your heart, of course." you said with an easy grin. You wished you had a better idea of what was going through his head. Normally you could gauge how well your flirting went over by how pink his ears turned, but with him wearing the hat, you didn't have much to go off of. 
The sun was starting to set at this point, even though it was barely 5 pm. Though it had only been a few hours, it felt so much shorter and yet so much longer. You tightened your grip on his hand slightly, knowing that with his singular eye he wasn't a huge fan of walking around at night in a crowd. There were a lot more older people here now that it was getting darker- a lot of the parents must have decided to take the kids home. 
You thought back to everything you saw online about the festival, trying to decide if it'd be better to go on rides now or start looking around at some of the art tents. 
"I've never been on a Ferris wheel." Sal offered, suddenly. It was almost as if he was reading your mind, that or he was trying to change the subject from your previous flirting. 
"Wanna ride?" you asked, wiggling your eyebrows suggestively. He let out a small laugh. 
"It looks like it could be fun."
The two of you stood in line for a good 45 minutes before you were able to get on. You two had discussed tapping out, but both of you decided that you were too invested at this point. It was okay though, it was still a good time to talk and flirt with him. 
Once you two were on the ride, it quickly became apparent at how rickety and unsafe this whole thing felt. There was nothing to stop either of you from falling except for a metal bar and Gods' Will. As your cart went up one to let the next people on the ride, you suddenly remembered something very important, and you gripped at the handle bar tightly. 
"Wow, this thing sure is janky. Hey, are you okay?" Sal asked. 
"Fine." you replied quickly and tensely as the Ferris wheel moved upwards again. 
"You don't seem fine."
"...I may have just remembered that I am not really a super huge fan of being anywhere except for on the ground." you admitted, not wanting to really say-
"You're afraid of heights?" 
Dammit Sally Face. 
"And you know that feeling you get when you're on a roller coaster and you go over a hump and your stomach does that thing where it drops?" you asked, he nodded. "Not a huge fan of that either." 
"Is that why you always decline going on roller coasters with me and Larry?" Sal asked, as you two moved up once again. You couldn't help but nod. 
"Sorry. I lied. I'm not actually as hard core as you two." You gave him a weak smile, going up once more, almost to the top now. 
He reached out and place his hand on top of one of yours. "It's okay. I won't tell anyone." You two were now at the top, the sun shining directly behind Sal's head making him look like an angel. 
What kind of romantic bullshit was this? You were supposed to be wooing him, not the other way around! But still, it let you relax a bit as the two of you moved down one. Everyone was now on the ride and it was time to start spinning for real. 
The first go-round was the worst, but it got easier after that. The whole time Sal pointed out different things that he could make out to distract you, and by the time the ride was over you had found yourself having fun, even if it was on a spinning death machine. 
Your legs were a bit shaky as you two exited the ride, but you were smiling wide. "I didn't completely hate it and it's all thanks to you, Sally Face." 
"I knew you could do it." This time he took your hand, and your heart raced for a moment. 
Together you went on a few more rides. Despite your lack of enthusiasm for the Ferris wheel, you were a master at anything that spun around really fast, though after two of those rides, Sal had to tap out. 
"The applesauce was good going down, but I don't think it'd be good coming back." he said. 
You wished that there had been some sort of fireworks or big ending to the date, but the festival didn't have anything like that. Come and have fun til 9 then leave, was the basic idea. 
It was 7 now, two hours until everything shut down but you could tell that the two of you were starting to get tired and had seen almost everything there was. 
"This was a lot of fun." Sal said as you two headed towards the exit. 
"I'm glad you enjoyed it." 
"And you said this was happening every weekend until mid-November, right?"
"Yup! It's-"
"What are you supposed to be?" you suddenly heard a voice next to you. Some middle-schooler with fake blood coming out of every opening on their face was staring at the two of you. 
"I'm the pumpkin queen." You replied. 
"Not you, that one." the kid said, pointing at Sal. 
"I'm the Sally Face Killer." he replied without missing a beat and you couldn't help but smile. 
"Where'd you get your mask? I want it." the kid replied, still staring intently at Sal. 
"It's a prosthetic." Sal explained. "It protects my face from-"
"So you're like, a total freak under there?"
"Woah, he now kid. Don't be rude." you quickly spoke up. "Come on, Sal let's go."
You started to pull him away, when you felt a slight catch. Sal let out a surprised grunt and you turned around to look at him. 
For the very first time, you were truly face to face with Sal Fisher.

Gateway || KNK  Chapter 1 - Drunken Encounter
“I’ll never go to one of those parties.”

prologue | chapter 2 
"Okay, we're done for the day, you have the rest of the class period to yourself," said my teacher as she waved her hand in a dismissive way. In that very second, everyone in the class pulled out their phone and a low buzz of conversation filled the room.
I pulled out my phone as well, but only for a moment to check for notifications (which i had none of course). I kept my notebook and textbook open, trying to finish as much work as possible so I didn't have to worry about it later.
It was the last class of the day, almost 3 o'clock in the afternoon on a Friday. Everyone around me had already packed their things and were talking about their weekend plans, or making such plans.
And then there was me, sitting in the back of the room with my head low and scribbling away with my pencil. I didn't really have friends in any of my classes, and I liked it that way, because let's be honest, I'm not much of a people person. I mostly just wanted to go home and drink a bottle of wine and binge watch Netflix. I was slightly praying that there wouldn't be a party tonight, because I really wanted to just go home and sleep a lot.
I had finished up the last of the page I was working on and packed my things into my computer bag. After all that, I sat on my phone, looking through different social medias to pass the last few minutes of the class period. Usually the teachers were pretty lenient about class times and would let us leave once they were done, but this old lady was pretty strict and wanted us to stay until exactly 3 o'clock.
I got bored of my phone so I put it down and just picked at my chipping nail polish, and without even thinking of it, I tuned into the conversation going on next to me.
"C'mon man, why won't you go?" A guy said in a slight begging tone, and I turned slightly to see that he was sitting on the table along with a couple other guys, and one guy was sitting in his respectable seat, his head in his hands.
"Ehh... I was planning on staying home tonight so," said the boy sitting in the chair, avoiding eye contact with everyone surrounding him.
"I've been to one of these parties before, they're pretty fun, and the booze is pretty great," another said, causing me to inwardly laugh. Who says booze anymore?
Are they talking about my neighbor's parties? I hope the fuck not. They don't need more people going to those parties!
"Dude, come on! You've been single for a while now. It's time to go out and get laid." One said, causing me to grimace. I thought it was disgusting, using him being single as a reason for him to go to the damn party.
There was silence among them, and I looked in the corner of my eye at the boy they were pestering. His hair was parted neatly down the middle and he had clear, tan skin, cute cheeks and pouty lips. He looked nice, sweet - too sweet to be dragged to one of those parties.
He leaned back in his chair and huffed, "Okay, fine, I'll come tonight," right away the guys cheered, patting on him in encouragement.
Ugh, tonight? I was hoping for a night of silence. I felt bad for the cute kid, but hey, what can I do?
With freezing cold hands and a runny nose, I unlocked my front door and stepped in, a wave of warmth hitting me, making me sigh in relief.
Kira was sitting on the couch with the TV on, but she got up once she heard the front door open.
"I got groceries, help me bring them in," I told her whilst putting my phone on the small table by the door and dropping my computer bag. She didn't say anything, just slipped on her slippers and braced herself for the cold.
We brought in the several bags and set them randomly in the kitchen, recovering from the unforgiving cold that was outside.
As we put away what I had bought in silence, I realized she was still wearing her work shirt. It was a plain, black, collared shirt with a small Starbucks logo. Kira doesn't go to college classes with me, she works full-time at Starbucks that's pretty close to campus. I do too, just part-time. I don't really have to work, I come from a pretty wealthy family and my parents are helping me pay for classes and such, but it's always nice to have some extra money, right?
I tried to figure what to make for dinner, but everything I suggested, Kira rejected.
"Chinese takeout?" I finally suggested, and she smiled at me, nodding slightly, causing me to chuckle.
I was putting away the last of the things, as well as organizing the pantry, and Kira sat on the counter and watched me.
"So," She suddenly broke the silence, "have you heard anything about a party next door?"
"Yeah, I heard some guys talking about it. I think there's gonna be one tonight," I kept my eyes on what I was doing, and she paused a moment before answering.
"... How about we go this time?" I turned to look at her to see if she was joking, but she had a smirk that told me she wasn't bluffing.
"Um, no. I hate those parties. I plan on never going over there." I bluntly rejected her, turning back to the pantry. I finished my organization and closed the door, then leaned against it and looked at Kira.
"Aw, why not? I don't want to just sit here all night, and I haven't done anything in so long." She was vague, but I knew what she meant - she wanted to get laid. I think it's kind of weird, but that's just me. I hadn't had an actual boyfriend in years. So basically, I'm as untouched as a virgin.
I kept my disgust to myself, because she would probably tease me for my innocence, "Then you can go by yourself."
"Oh God, no thanks," She scoffed, making a funny face then jumped off the counter, then looked down at her phone, "So, you want to order food now?"
No more than an hour later, we sat in our dimly lit living room, Chinese takeout boxes littering the coffee table in front of us along with Kira's soda can and my wine glass. I did say I was craving wine, right? Using wine glasses makes me feel fancy, shoot me.
It took us a while to agree on something to watch on Netflix, but eventually we chose to re watch New Girl  for probably the third time.
We didn't say much to each other, just stuffed our faces with food and paid attention to what played on the tv, but then we started to notice the buzz of that horrible techno music. As if that was an alarm, Kira jumped up and picked up her takeout dishes and made her way to the kitchen
"Well, time to sleep," She announced, and I glared in her direction, even though the corner wall had cut her from my vision.
"Seriously??" I looked down at my phone to see the time, "It's not even 10 o'clock!"
"So? I'm tired," She said nonchalantly, thankfully cleaning up after herself. I didn't get up from where I sat, since I was in a little blanket nest with my knees pulled up to my chest.
"Jesus, how do you sleep so much! Teach me your ways!!" I yelled dramatically, causing her to roll her eyes and laugh lightly.
"Whatever. Goodnight," she made a little finger heart towards me and I did the same, muttering a 'ni ni' to her. Once she closed her bedroom door behind her, I reached for the controller and looked through Netflix once again. I chose what I really wanted to watch. I turned the volume down so Kira wouldn't hear the voices speaking in Japanese.
Yeah, I really love anime, but Kira hates it so I don't make her watch it. And she likes to make fun of me when I obsess over it, calls me a nerd.
I may have gotten a little carried away. I had re watched almost all of The Seven Deadly Sins, and drank almost a whole bottle of wine. Because of the small bit of alcohol, I began to get a little sleepy. I had begun to tune out the annoyance coming from next door, aside from the occasional yelling that sometimes startled me.
Are you still watch 'The Seven Deadly Sins?'
Yeah, jerk, I'm still watching it. I don't have a life. fight me.
I reached for the Xbox controller so I could resume the show, sitting in the quiet a moment whilst I waited for the controller to turn on.
But in that tiny bit of quiet, I heard something weird outside. Well, everything I heard was weird, because of that damn party, but what I had just heard was... weird. You know, a different weird. It stood out and I turned my head towards the door.
It was yelling of some kind, but it was closer than everything else, like someone was in front of my house. Usually most people were respectful and stayed away from my house, but this person wandered a little too far I guess.  
But it was a lonely voice, I didn't hear anyone else.
I honestly got really curious as to who was out there and what was going on. So, I finished what was in my glass and left the warmth of my nest, shuffling towards the door and putting on my slippers. I pulled my sweater sleeves over my hands and opened the front door, and saw that there was a flurry of snow in the air.
There he was; in the middle of my yard, tripping around and yelling something I couldn't understand (I'm not even sure if it was in English). I couldn't tell who it was, but it's not like I know a lot of people around here.
"What the hell...?" I mumbled to myself, watching how he wandered alone. I noticed he didn't have a jacket; he just walked around in a white t-shirt and skinny jeans. Jesus, he's gonna freeze to death if he stays out there.
Maybe I should go help him...?
Without thinking it through, I stepped outside and through the grass, treading carefully towards him. In the middle of his weird, random shouting, I think I heard him say a girl's name, but I couldn't be sure.
"Um, h-hey?" I shouted to him to get his attention, and he slowly moved his eyes to me. he stopped walking, stumbled in his stance. "It's really cold, do you want to come inside?"
I couldn't really understand what he said in response, but as I came closer to him and touched his arm, he didn't fight against me, just leaned on my shoulder and allowed me to lead him to my house.
I realized he was much taller than me, and with him relying on me to walk, he was much heavier.
If it wasn't so cold, I would have been sweating. I kicked opened the door in a huff and dragged him to the couch, allowing him to drop onto the upholstery.
I turned the nearby lamp on, and realized - it's that kid from my class today! The one that those guys convinced to go to the party. I didn't know his name, but at least I didn't bring a total stranger into my home.
While looking at him, I noticed his ears and (cute little) nose were bright red, and he was now shivering, his teeth chattering. I rushed around and put a big blanket over him, which he quickly grabbed and cuddled into (which honestly, I found really fucking cute). I went to get a bucket and put plastic bag in it and set it on the floor by his head (because let's face it, throwing up is inevitable). His eyes were barely open and his hair was an absolute mess, little mumbled still falling from his lips. It was very obvious he was wasted, who let this poor child drink so much??
I sat by him to make sure he didn't die or something, and some of his little mumbles were slightly coherent.
"Sophie... Why did you leave me? <hic!> I loved you so much... Why wasn't <hic!> I good enough?... I miss you so much...." His voice was painful to hear, so full of sadness. His lip trembled as he spoke now, and I think I see a little wetness around his eyes.
I didn't really know what to do, but without much thought I scoot a little closer to him and brought my small hand to his cold forehead, soothing his hair away from his face.
As I did the soothing action, his mumbling became quieter, and tears just fell to the couch cushion. Slowly but surely, his skin started to warm up, and he started to stop shivering.
It felt like forever of me just sitting there, but I started to hear little snores and heavier breathing, which made me think he had fallen asleep.
Slowly I moved away, shuffling to the recliner on the other side of the living room.
My first thought was to stay awake until he wakes up, so he doesn't freak out on me. I could at least tell him what had happened and make sure he's okay then he can go home, and then I'll sleep all day.
But then  I had the most intense yawn I've ever had. I looked at my phone, which was almost dead, and saw it was past 3 am.
After that, I don't really remember falling asleep, I slept like a rock.

“Seriously,” Cody said, adjusting his grip on the motorbike’s handlebars and shouting over the noise of the engine, “are you gonna tell me what happened or not?”
John made a noncommittal sort of grunting noise against his back, and Cody got the feeling he was smiling. He’d been absolutely silent about whatever had gone on in the background of La Salle Rouge while Cody had been playing Mia, everything from his detainment up to bursting into Whist’s office with Quadrille and Jacquet. Cody could only speculate wildly - which he didn’t mind doing, necessarily, but he wished he could have gotten a straight answer. Or any answer at all.
He and John had beat a hasty retreat out of La Salle in the midst of the chaos Quadrille and Jacquet had begun, grabbing their clothes from the dressing room and slipping out the front doors. No one had even bothered to stop them. It seemed that most of the employees were against Whist and the high rollers, happy for the opportunity to get their hands on any weapon they could and overturn the structure of life within La Salle. The place was a crush of bodies, everyone trying to run either toward the fight or away from it. In the spirit of things, John and Cody had busted the windows of a few well-maintained cars that clearly belonged to high rollers (and maybe Whist herself), and had stolen a couple of gas cans, some food, and water bottles where they could find them. They’d made off with enough gas to last them until they hit Texas, probably. Cody was surprised they’d just barely managed to fit it all into the bike’s saddlebags.
Cody had looked for Pem in the mess of the main floor, and in the town outside La Salle, and had turned up empty both times. He had seen Cole and Nash, though, escaping the way that John and Cody had, but still wearing their nice casino clothes. Cole had waved to Cody from a distance as the two hopped astride a cherry-red, expensive looking motorbike of their own, and sped off. Apparently there were no hard feelings there. It was nice to know, even if Cody doubted they’d be seeing each other again.
“The woman in charge,” John said, abruptly. “What happened to her?”
“Whist? I dunno,” Cody said. The last he’d seen, Whist had been cowering underneath her desk, hiding from Jacquet and Quadrille without a weapon to defend herself with. It would be surprising if she’d managed to survive - but she had seemed pretty lucky. Only lucky people liked to gamble as much as Whist did.
“Dead, maybe,” he added, trying to seem a little more forthcoming than John had been. “Or she got out somehow. Wouldn’t surprise me if she had secret escape tunnels or somethin’ built into the building.”
John grunted again. There was nothing to indicate what he thought about the idea of Whist getting away relatively scot-free.
“I mean, fuck her. I hope she’s dead,” Cody said, and spat out some road dust disdainfully. “Rich people who put people in debt like that, and use ‘em to do their dirty work, they deserve to get what’s comin’ to ‘em.”
John was silent, but it wasn’t a cold silence. Cody thought he was starting to be able to read the nonverbal cues John gave off, and the way John had relaxed against his back probably meant that he agreed, or was too tired to argue. More likely the former. Still, it didn’t give Cody much to work with, so he fell silent for a while, too.
“You think we missed Friday?” Cody asked, once the thought occurred to him. Friday might have gone straight past La Salle while they’d been inside, never even knowing they were there. That would make meeting up with her even more troublesome than it already had been.
“Maybe,” John said, unconvincingly.
“You think something happened to her,” Cody prompted. He hadn’t been sure before, but he was now.
“Maybe,” John said, again. “Could be nothing. Could be your friend. Ethan.”
The suggestion sent a chill down Cody’s spine, made him sit a little more rigidly. If Ethan had gotten to Friday, had known somehow that she was connected to him, then she was probably dead, or wishing she was. But there was no way Ethan could have known that, not unless someone from the Ace of Spades had gone running to the Dead-Eyes. And there was no reason for that to have happened. The Dead-Eyes were an Oregon gang - no one in Vegas felt any particular loyalty to them. Cody was sure of it.
“Probably nothing,” he agreed. “Maybe she got caught up with work at that nightclub and had to leave a couple days late. Or she lost her nerve.”
John made a noise that said he wasn’t entirely convinced. Cody could’ve argued, but decided to let it lie.
“Ethan’s not my friend,” he added, belatedly.
“Okay,” John said.
They rode on a little farther. Cody kept an eye on the gas gauge, even though they’d left with a full tank, and the other eye on the road ahead of him. He thought he had a few more hours of adrenaline left before he made John drive. Having a gun pressed to his head had really woken him up.
“That guy Pem and I were trying to cheat the house,” he said, when he couldn’t bear being quiet anymore. “He cheated me instead. He and this other gal who I think was probably in on it. Tricked me out of a bunch of silver. Like, ten thousand pieces. Fuckin’ con artist.”
“I saw,” John said, to Cody’s surprise.
“You did?” he asked. He hadn’t known how long John had been standing in his general vicinity during the second Mia game, but now he had an answer.
John made an affirmative sort of noise.
“Well, alright then,” Cody said. He leaned into a turn, and something else occurred to him as he did so.
“Friday’s directions are sendin’ us through Texas, right?” he asked, not waiting for John to confirm or deny before he went on. “Whist said Hemisphere - that’s the big group Ethan’s gang kinda works for - has a big presence there. We should keep an eye on what towns we head through once we cross the state line. I don’t wanna accidentally end up right in their lap.”
“How do we know what towns to avoid?” John asked, which was maybe the longest sentence Cody had heard him say since they’d been reunited. It was a good question, though. One Cody didn’t know the answer to, himself.
“Dunno,” he said, honestly. “I guess ones that’re obviously run by gangs, for a start. And, uh, Whist had this pin on her jacket with Hemisphere’s logo or whatever on it. Like a little H.” Cody wasn’t sure if John knew his letters, but he could always draw it for him later, to show him what to look out for. “We should steer clear of anyone wearin’ one of those.”
“Okay,” John agreed.
“I can drive soon,” he added, after a long moment of what Cody thought might have been contemplation. “If you want.”
“Sure,” Cody said, easily. He wasn’t tired out yet, but if John wanted to drive, then John could drive. It was nice having a second person along to shoulder the burden of the trip with him.
“I’m glad La Salle didn’t, like, have you killed or anything,” he told John, while he was considering it.
“Me too,” John replied. “Glad you didn’t get killed. I mean.”
Cody laughed. He hadn’t been expecting that, but it was...nice. Even if John still wouldn’t say a word about how he’d ended up saving his life.
“Yeah,” he said. “Thanks.”

The Misadventures of Prince Kim - chapter 14
(aka the royalty AU story)
Not sure how I’ve managed to keep up with this for two whole weeks in a row so far...

It was the start of the winter holidays, and most of the students would be going home to their families for these few weeks while the school was shut for renovations and upkeeping. Kim had been asked by his parents to come back home, but he instead wrote them a quick letter informing them that he would be going to stay with Max instead, and left before he could receive a reply. He knew they wouldn’t be happy, but so what? As a prince, surely it was his duty to visit other countries and learn about new places, getting to know other leaders in the meantime!
The journey to Kanté only took two days, unlike the slow week’s travel time it took to get to Lê Chiến. First there was a short trip on an ocean liner, then an overnight maglev train. It was the smoothest kind of train Kim had ever been on in his life.
“Maglev stands for magnetic levitation,” Max informed him while Kim was looking around the sparkly clean insides of the train in wonder. “The train is actually suspended slightly above the tracks using magnetic repulsion, leading to less friction and therefore much faster speeds and smoother travel.”
“Wait a second – do you mean to tell me this train is flying?”
“Well, hovering, yes.”
“That is the coolest thing ever! We need these cool train things in my kingdom too!” Kim ran up to the window and pressed his face against it, looking at the blur of green and yellow outside, passing by too quickly to focus on properly. “How fast are we even going?”
“300 km/h, though there are trains that have exceeded those speeds before.”
“Do you think it’s possible for a human to run that fast too? If they practised really, really hard?”
Max laughed. “Definitely not, Kim, though I know you can certainly run very fast by human standards.”
Reaching the capital city the next morning, Kim was first of all stunned at how tall the buildings were. Not only that, but they seemed to be made out of all sorts of shiny metals and glass, giving a very unique and unconventionally beautiful skyline.
As the train slowed down and made its way through the vast city on little suspended monorails, Kim was able to see that these were not the only types of buildings. There were smaller ones with beautiful architecture, painted in bright colours with mosaic patterns all over them. Max pointed them out and talked about them as they passed.
“That one is the Kubdel Embassy, it has a very stylistic design. That one over there is the National Theatre House, where you can see all sorts of traditional plays and shows. On your left you’ll see the Museum of Modern Art, it’s a very interesting place though I feel like you’re not the sort of person who would be enthusiastic about going there…”
Kim looked down at the street below, which the monorail tracks towered over like a long bridge, and saw that there were cars. Endless rows of cars, in all sorts of bright colours, and people walking around in bright, clear, patterned clothing. He had never seen anything like it. A group of small children looked up at the train and waved, so Kim happily waved back.
“Dude, your kingdom is awesome,” he said to Max. “Like, it’s actually the coolest place I’ve been to, and I thought Bourgeois was nice.”
“You’ve barely even seen this place yet!”
“But it’s so futuristic! You’ve got all these huge skyscrapers, and these magic flying trains, and so many cars there’s traffic, and a city this big it would take days to walk around, and…”
“If you think this is advanced, wait until you see Alix’s kingdom. They’ve got plants growing up the sides of their skyscrapers there. Which is impressive considering that most of her kingdom is desert.”
“You two are the luckiest ever.”
“Not necessarily, I mean, everyone’s kingdom has something special about it. I’m sure your kingdom is a lovely place too. You just like it here because it’s different.”
“Nah, it’s not just that. It looks so… you know, clean. Organized. Like a really nice place to live. Whereas sometimes back home when I’m travelling around by horse carriage I see places that don’t look so good, like I wouldn’t want to live there if my life depended on it. And I want to do something about it, because everyone deserves to live in a cool place like this country.”
“Yes, everyone deserves a nice place to live. Unfortunately this kingdom isn’t without its problems too. Poverty exists everywhere, though we can do our best to help lift as many people out of it as possible. Crime exists everywhere too, and all we can do is try to stop it and prevent it.”
“You seem to be doing a much better job than most other places I’ve been to. Everyone here looks rich.”
“Well, I suppose the city is quite affluent, though I’d say the vast majority of the population are just middle-class…”
The train pulled into the station and slowed to a halt. Kim and Max were ushered down a long red carpet from the train to a waiting vehicle, while porters carried their luggage for them.
“This is such a cool car,” Kim muttered in awe as the chauffeur opened the back door to let them in.
“It’s a limousine, or limo for short,” Max said. “They’re longer than usual cars. As royalty, we get to ride in these by default.”
“Whoa… neat…”
The ride from the station to the palace was fairly short. Stepping out of the limo and into proper daylight, Kim realized that the temperature here was incredibly warm for December, despite being well into the northern hemisphere. He rolled up his sleeves, regretting packing a lot of warm clothes. He wouldn’t need them.
The palace itself was big and painted mostly white to keep it as cool as possible, and the inside was huge and filled with marble pillars, with tiled marble flooring everywhere too. Kim was immediately introduced to Max’s family (who he had met a few times before), then shown to the guest quarters where he would be staying.
Wow… not only did this big, airy room have a brilliant view overlooking this incredible city, but it had an electric ceiling fan. An actual, adjustable, spinning fan that could be controlled by a dial on the wall. Kim spent at least 15 minutes playing around with it, watching as the blades moved quicker and quicker until they were an undistinguishable blur.
Wait, there was a microwave oven in here too??? He had only ever seen pictures of those! He pulled a half-melted chocolate bar out of his pocket, put it in, then closed the door and pressed a few numbers. It started making a whirring noise, and after some seconds it beeped. Opening the microwave door again, the chocolate bar was now a sticky puddle. How awesome!
Over the next few days, it was like living a dream. Max showed Kim all sorts of incredible things that could be seen in this kingdom – electric refrigerators and freezers, sunglasses, clothes made from a strange material called “nylon” (which was somehow a type of plastic, supposedly), and of course, helicopters. There was a helicopter pad on the roof and Max took Kim up to show him this magnificent machine, though they weren’t permitted to fly in it.
It wasn’t just all the modern inventions that made this country interesting. Max also made sure to take Kim sightseeing, though with an armed guard to keep an eye on them and make sure the paparazzi and fans didn’t get too close.
The city had some of the most splendid architecture Kim had ever seen. Many of the more historic buildings, especially the mosques and other places of worship, were so stunning that Kim was tempted to spend all his money on a camera just so he could take pictures of everything and remember it forever. Not just any camera either, but a colour camera, since everything here was so colourful, especially the beautiful robes most people wore.
Max explained while showing Kim around that although most people here spoke French, there were so many other languages spoken too that most people knew at least two or three different ones quite fluently. He also told Kim about how most of this country was either arid or semi-arid, but the rainier areas to the south were used to grow cotton and collect water, while the other areas focused more on scientific research and technology advancements, often collaborating on projects with Kubdel to the northeast.
A few days into the holiday, when Kim was finally getting used to being here, Max sent for him to be woken up fairly early.
“I have a surprise for you today,” he said, as a butler led them to the limousine. “You’ll get to see something really, really cool today.”
“What is it?”
“If I told you then it wouldn’t be a surprise!”
Kim watched out of the tinted windows as the limo set off. They seemed to be heading away from the city, as there were fewer buildings around here and the roads were wide with cars going at high speeds over multiple lanes.
He observed the signs on the sides of the road, and… wait a second, did that one say “airport”?
“You’re taking me to the airport!” Kim gasped. “Oh my gosh, you’re gonna show me what real aeroplanes look like!”
“Yep, that’s it,” Max said, grinning. “You’ll get to see them taking off and landing and I could even show you inside one if you want. And there’s another surprise in store too.”
“I can’t wait!” Kim could barely sit still anymore, bouncing around on his seat and fiddling with the seat belt impatiently.
They arrived at the airport and were immediately taken to the VIP lounge, where there were comfy sofas and a big bar to get drinks and snacks from. Kim, however, ran straight over to the window and stared out of it in amazement.
Those were planes. Those were real planes, right there, parked outside, the ones that flew through the sky like birds. They were huge, way bigger than he had imagined. They had big noses and wings and tails, and hundreds of little round windows dotted across the side, and colourful logos painted onto them…
He watched as one of the planes on a distant runway suddenly accelerated forwards, going faster and faster, tilting upwards slightly, until –
“Max! Max look! That one over there! It just started flying! It’s actually flying oh my gosh –”
“Magical, isn’t it?” Max said, coming to stand beside Kim.
“Yeah! It didn’t even need to flap its wings or anything, it just went WHOOSH and then zoom and then… MAX THAT ONE OVER THERE IS LANDING, ARE YOU SEEING THIS, IT’S LANDING ON TINY WHEELS –”
He couldn’t even express in words how incredible it was. These huge, bulky machines, could actually carry people through the sky! Wasn’t that just the most amazing thing ever? He could stand here for hours, his breath misting up the window, watching the planes going up and down the runway, defying gravity in the most magnificent way possible…
Not too long later, Max tapped him on the shoulder saying, “It’s time for the other surprise now. And, I guess, if you want to see the inside of a plane – a private jet, to be precise – you’ll get a chance to, since it’s just landed.”
“That would be awesome.”
Kim and Max followed one of the airport staff members down a few corridors and then outside. There was a smaller plane here now, with the side of it opened up to reveal cargo crates that were being carried out and put onto transport wagons by staff members.
A portable set of steps had been wheeled over to the door of the plane, providing a pathway to the ground. The door opened and out walked Pharaoh Alix and her pet snake. She quickly waved at Kim and Max and then ran down the steps to see them.
“What are you doing here?” Kim spluttered, suddenly wondering if his hair was okay, was he wearing something sensible, did he have any spots, oh wait of course she wouldn’t care about any of that, but still…
“I flew over with a trade shipment!” she said. “I’m always doing that, I love planes and it means I get to meet up with Max. And you too, this time.”
“Good to see you, Alix!” Max said. “Is your brother here too?”
“Yeah, he fell asleep even though it was only about an hour flight. It takes him like a year to wake up. I mean same, but like, how can you fall asleep on a one hour plane journey?”
Sure enough, Alix’s older brother was just exiting the plane and walking down the steps. He had plastic glasses too, just like Max, and for some reason was wearing a scarf despite the heat.
“This is Jalil,” Alix said. “And Jalil, this is Kim. Kim the Second, I mean.”
“Oh yes,” Jalil muttered, “the one who lost the race.”
“Oh come on, that was ages ago! Give him a break… Anyway Kim, have you ever seen the inside of a plane before?”
Kim shook his head. “Never even seen one in person before today.”
“Seriously?” said Jalil. “Wow Alix, you were right, they are really backwards…”
Alix elbowed him. “Shush, be nice to my best friend!” She started climbing back up the stairs. “Come on, Kim! Take a look at our private jet! Not that all planes look like this on the inside, but the good ones do at least.”
Kim followed her up the steps and into the plane. The inside looked like a modern lounge, with comfortable seats and tables that could be pulled out or stowed away. There were cabinets overhead to store things in and some kind of music was playing, though Kim couldn’t figure out where from. There must be speakers hidden away somewhere.
“Whoa, this is so cool!” he said, looking around at everything. “And what does it feel like when the plane is actually flying? Does it feel like you’re going really fast?”
“Nah, it just feels like normal,” Alix replied. “Unless you get turbulence and it’s a bumpy journey, but otherwise you forget you’re even on a plane.”
“Turbulence?”
“Yeah, like when you’re flying over mountains and stuff and the air is weird and it makes the plane ride bumpy… I don’t know the science, ask Max about that. Or Jalil, he’s an absolute nerd, by the way.”
Kim was barely listening, too busy messing around with the reclining settings on the chair. “Oh yeah, okay. Hey, what sort of trade shipment things were you transporting?”
“Just raw materials this time, nothing too interesting. The good stuff usually goes by train. Speaking of good stuff, they’re working on getting actual televisions installed on aeroplanes next so you can watch movies while you’re flying!”
“What? That’s so cool, and also so unfair.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll get televisions to the rest of the world someday too, okay?”
“I hope so…”
Once Kim had finished having a good look around the plane, they went back outside. Alix and Jalil were accompanying them back to the palace for lunch, and leaving to go back home later on in the day. The limousine was easily big enough to fit them all for the ride back to the city.
“So, do you think you ever want to fly in a plane someday?” Max asked Kim.
“Heck yeah! It looks so fun! When will I get to do that?”
“You could always come to visit my kingdom next holiday, you’ll get to fly in a plane then,” Alix said. “I usually just take the ocean liner from Bourgeois to the northern port and then catch a short flight from there back to where my palace is. If you came along I could show you.”
“Wait, you mean in the spring holidays? Stay? With you?”
“Yeah, if you don’t have to go back home, that is.”
Kim tried not to read too much into that. She was asking him to stay with her for the holidays, it totally wasn’t like that meant anything, of course…
He put on his most casual tone and said, “Sure, that might be, like, a cool idea or something, I guess… whatever…”
“Awesome!”
“Not awesome,” Jalil corrected. “Do you really think dad’s going to be okay with you randomly inviting a friend over for several weeks? He barely let Max stay for two days that one time, remember?”
“It’s fine, he’s warming up to Max so he’ll warm up to Kim too. And plus, that last time was before I was crowned pharaoh. Now I’m in charge so I can do whatever I want.”
“You know that’s not true.”
“Yeah, but I like to pretend it’s true.”
“Are you annoyed that the throne went to your little sister instead of you?” Kim asked Jalil suddenly, but then regretted it the second he’d said it. How tactless was it to ask something like that? Ugh, why did his brain just not work whenever Alix was around?
Luckily Jalil did not seem annoyed at the question. “No, it’s better like this. Ruling a country is a stressful job. At least this way I can choose to pursue careers I’m actually interested in instead. Like studying ancient history.”
Ah, yes. That did sound nerdy. Was that why Alix always got along so well with Max? Did he remind her of her brother somehow? That would explain things.
It was already lunchtime when they reached the palace, so they had lunch together, and then it was time for Alix and Jalil to go back to the airport to catch their flight. Apparently the planes all ran on strict schedules and if someone didn’t turn up in time, they would simply miss the flight. Of course, since Alix and Jalil were royalty their flight would just end up delayed if they weren’t there on time, but it was better not to let that happen or it would mess up the timetable completely. And there was always the possibility of getting caught in traffic in a kingdom like this. It was better to leave early rather than late.
“It was nice to meet you,” Jalil said to Kim. “I guess if you’re coming to stay in spring then I’ll see you then.”
“Yeah, nice to meet you too,” Kim said, though Jalil was already walking off out of the room.
“See you at school, Kim!” Alix gave him a light punch on the arm (or rather, she thought it had been light – it actually did hurt, though Kim would never admit that) and started to leave too.
Kim suddenly remembered something. Was anyone else in here? No, it was just the two of them… well, and that snake on her arm, but Kim the First didn’t seem so scary these days…
“Alix, wait a second,” he said, taking her hand and trying to ignore how flustered he suddenly felt. “I just remembered, um… well you told me to remind you, so… Wait, you don’t still have a cold, do you?”
“Nope.”
“Okay good… so um, remember at the winter party? When there was that mistletoe, and you were ill so we didn’t kiss? I mean, since there’s no one else around I guess we could just do that now… if you want…”
She looked up at him, frowning. Kim started wondering if he had been too obvious that he liked her. What if she was annoyed or something? What could she possibly be thinking about?
“You’re too tall,” she said finally.
Oh, was that it? That wasn’t a big deal, Ivan and Mylène had a height difference too. “I could just–”
Before he could even react, she had somehow hooked her foot round and tripped him over backwards, catching him just before he landed on the floor.
“There we go, that’s better. Now I get to be the tall one for once.”
Kim lay perfectly still, barely even daring to breathe. She was literally holding him in her arms, her face barely a few inches above his own, strands of her pink fringe dangling over his forehead…
She leaned down to kiss him –
– and promptly dropped him just a millimetre away.
“Hey, what was that for?” Kim said, sitting up and rubbing the back of his head where it hit the floor. But then he heard footsteps. Oh, no wonder she had suddenly stopped, but come on! Did someone really have to come along and ruin this right now?
It was Jalil. He popped his head around the door and said, “Come on Alix, what are you waiting for? We have a flight to catch!”
“Yeah, I know, sorry,” she said quickly. “I was just, uh… fighting Kim. And I totally won.”
“That’s not true!” Kim said, jumping to his feet.
“Anyway Kim I’ve really gotta go now so goodbye, I’ll see you at school, just remind me about that other thing some other time, okay?”
“Okay…”
She hurried out of the room and Jalil closed the door.
Kim sighed. He had been so close. He was so sure it was going to happen that time. But still, he just couldn’t figure out her opinion on all this. Did she even want to kiss him? She didn’t exactly seem enthusiastic, but she didn’t seem annoyed either, just… apathetic. Almost as if she didn’t even care one way or another. But how?
He was still thinking about it when Max came to visit him in his room later.
“Max, I was this close to kissing her,” Kim said straightaway, holding his fingers up just a tiny bit apart. “But then her brother interrupted us, so she had to leave…” He lay back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling fan. “Maybe this was what Master Fu meant when he told me not to get my hopes up. That it’ll take a hundred years for it to finally happen.”
Max sat down on the bed beside him. “Kim… why don’t you just tell her how you feel? Ask her out?”
“I still don’t really feel like asking anyone out, Max. Not after Chloé. And anyway, it’s okay, Alix is my friend and I like it that way. I don’t mind. I’m just glad she likes hanging out with me.”
“Trust me, I can definitely understand that feeling,” Max said, chuckling a little. “That’s fair enough. Anyway, I was going to ask… do you want to go bowling? We have plastic skittles.”
“Plastic skittles!” Kim sat up so fast the blood rushed out of his head. “Yes please, that sounds so awesome!”
“Alright then, let’s go!”

Last TV show watched: The very last show I watched before going to bed was “Call the Midwife.” BBC show about midwives in the East End in the late 1950′s. I like it. It’s cute and kinda poignant when it wants to be.

Random: I dunno...I started playing “Horizon: Zero Dawn” last night, and it’s pretty. But I was too sleepy to get really into it. Also it’s kinda tropey, at least in the beginning. 
1. How tall are you? 5′8″
2. What colour and style is your hair? Copper-red
3. What colour are your eyes? Hazel, gray-green-blue on the outside with a copper ring around the pupil
4. Do you wear glasses? Yeah
5. Do you wear braces? Not anymore, but I did when I was 14.
6. What is your fashion sense? T-shirts and yoga pants for home, jeans or jeggings or a dress for going out, a uniform or a rad pant or skirt suit for work.
7. Do you have any siblings? 1
8. What kinda student were/are you? Teacher’s pet all the way through high school. I was high performing student who loved to participate and always wanted to know more. In college, there were some classes I only showed up to if there was a test/quiz, but others I actively participated in (still came out with a good GPA). In law school I was tired, but generally prepared, and I participated a lot. And I graduated with scholastic merit.
9. What is your favourite subject? It was English and History when those were a thing still.
10. Favourite TV shows? Can’t ask me this!!! There are too many.
11. Favourite books? Also too many...I like stuff by Chuck Palahniuk, Douglas Coupland, Neil Gaiman, Janet Fitch, William Shakespeare and dozens of other amazing authors.
12. Favourite pastime? Vidja games, mostly. I’ve been playing some form or another since I was 9 months old and my dad got me a talking parrot game for his new computer.
13. Any regrets? Eh, not really. They’re pointless.

15. Do you want to get married? I am, so...yeah?
16. Do you want kids? How many? Yeah, we want 2.
17. How many countries have you visited? 3-4 (depending on how you count Scotland), but I want to do 3-4 more in one go for our next big vacation
18. What’s the scariest dream you’ve ever had? Usually ones where people are being horribly murdered...I have a lot of those. Don’t ask me why because I have no idea.
19. Do you have any enemies? Probably? I’m an oblivious archenemy I think.

2. Favorite Movie? Too hard a question to answer. It probably falls somewhere between 2005  “Pride and Prejudice” and “The Fifth Element.” But who knows?

Best childhood memory? There are a lot of good ones...the mud fight in the front garden with my little sister, chasing bighorn sheep up the side of a mountain in Alaska, getting chased by a herd of startled elk in Montana, playing video games with my sister and/or my parents, movie nights...I had a pretty good childhood up to a point.
5. What are you most proud of? The life/relationships I’ve built.

7. If you could only keep 5 things, what would they be? My laptop, my phone, my chargers, my dog, and my wallet to buy the rest of that shit back!
8. Most embarrassing moment? Umm...I screamed on the air once while I was talking to units in the field, and about 300-400 people heard me? I dunno, I don’t get embarrassed easily.
9. Your favorite characteristic? A great laugh and great hugs
10. Water, wind, earth or fire? Depends on the day. Sometimes fire, sometimes water, sometimes earth.
