I cleaned up the character backgrounds so people can make their own Neverafter Ocs:)
Also currently trying to export a interactive pdf with the fonts.  Just using GIMP, because I've never really done anything like this before.
So far I found using Aqum 2 Bold for names and character info, and a mix of Versica Serif and Mr Anteater Fill for the character name are the best.
Original background and character design is by Giuseppe Lama

I'm still hoping against hope that Gerard and Elody might be able to reconcile just because Gerard loves her so much--- but realizing that if they don't I can totally pull in Iron Heinrich from the og story and give Gerard a boyfriend as loving and loyal as he is cuz darn it he deserves it (and I always thought the Prince should have ended up with Heinrich in the actual story anyway. The man wore iron bands to keep his heart from breaking when the prince got cursed, darn it!
Give me Childhood Friends to Lovers Heinrich who never gave up that his best friend Gerard (who he had a little crush on) was still alive out there somewhere and is so relieved to find he is even if he's stuck as a giant frog now and doesn't have a name anymore. Heinrich still loves him regardless.

This is Camille! A character based on the protagonist in "Diamonds and Toads" as my piece for "Witches, Warrior, and Wolves", a Dimension 20's Neverafter OC zine as part of @d20zinejam 2023! I particularly love this story because how absurd it is to consider vomiting jewels as a blessing, (wouldn't you bleed? wouldn't people ignore everything you have to say? how about the economic disaster of all this diamonds and gems, oh no you are ruining the wedding ring industry, which is great i guess? anyway) but hey, you do you, mysterious fairy.
Get this zine! • Witches, Warriors, & Wolves Zine • D20 Zine Jam 2023 Bundle

ok here’s my pitch for a Neverafter version of Dorothy Gale, because the part of my brain that likes to make Ever After High-style OCs will never die
Dorothy blew in from some world unknown to most of the Neverafter, to the region of Oz, when she was about 12. in some loops she’s returned home, but in others, she’s stayed. sometimes by choice, sometimes not.
in this loop, Dorothy is now in her late twenties
she’s an oathbreaker paladin, formerly in the service of Glinda the Good
as a girl, Dorothy was guided on her journey by the two good witches, and was promised that if she found the Wizard who ruled Oz, she could go home. she traveled through Oz, facing much danger, but found friends along the way - a Scarecrow who wanted a brain, a Tin Man who wanted a heart, and a lion who wanted some courage
of course, the Wizard of Oz turned out to be a charlatan, an ordinary man from Dorothy’s home, with no real power, ruling Oz with nice-sounding lies and parlor tricks
in kinder versions of the story, everyone got what they wanted anyway.
not this time. this time, they were just stuck with what they had.
Dorothy’s friends promised to shelter her, and they did. the four retreated back into the unruly and wild world they’d traveled through, resolving to carve out a life for themselves.
when she discovered the Wizard’s lies, Dorothy’s love of the Neverafter was tarnished, and her trust in what she’d been told began to decay
Glinda the Good Witch of the South, possibly out of pity, kindness, or ulterior motives of her own, took Dorothy under her wing, teaching her magic and combat. Dorothy took an Oath of the Ancients and became a paladin under Glinda
as she grew up, Dorothy tangled more and more with cruel and even violent witches and fairies, and began to turn her back on the “good” witches of the North and South.
eventually, Dorothy met Ozma, a young woman who was the true ruler of Oz, kidnapped at birth and raised by a witch named Mombi (possibly with influence from the Stepmother)
quickly becoming friends, Ozma and Dorothy vowed to take the world back from the oppressive forces controlling it
staging a coup in the Emerald City, they killed the Wizard and officially cut ties with the witches, with Ozma taking her throne back and Dorothy taking on the role of the Wizard, officially going oathbreaker
as the new Great and Powerful Oz (she feels weird when people insist on calling her that), Dorothy works to grant the wishes of her and Ozma’s subjects, learning all the magic and alchemy she can to try and protect them and make them happy
eventually, she and Ozma fell in love and got married, technically making Dorothy queen consort of Oz. just “Dorothy” is fine, though. “the wizard,” if you insist on being formal.
Dorothy and Ozma now rule an increasingly-crumbling Oz together as a power couple, with the Scarecrow as Ozma’s advisor and The Tin Man and Cowardly Lion leading their army. Ozma’s own companions, Jack Pumpkinhead and Tik-Tok, are in her own royal court.
Ozma is an artificer, with Jack and Tik-Tok both being warforged
Dorothy prefers to wear simple clothes that harken back to the clothes she wore on the farm of her childhood, but for special occasions, can be spotted in somewhat masculine emerald green formalwear (she leaves the dresses and jewels to Ozma). the only exception is her choice in footwear - heeled silver boots, which provide her protection from most magic.
she still has a small scar on one of her cheeks, from where one of the good witches kissed her. if she gets too close to anything too dangerous, the mark burns.
she has a broomstick (taken from the Witch of the West - rumor has it she picked it off the crumpled remains of her body) and an alliance with the flying monkeys
Toto, due to the magic of the Neverafter, is still alive. he’s the spoiled, happy little lap dog he always was, always at Dorothy’s heels. however, he’s also a useful familiar, as Dorothy will sometimes use him as a spy, looking through his eyes and using Speak With Animals to talkto him about what he’s heard and seen
meanwhile, Glinda and the other witches are starting to want their kingdom back...

INTRODUCING :: YASMINE AL-RASHID in NEVERAFTER
Princess Yasmine Al-Rashid grew up believing she was the daughter of the Sultan of a faraway Kingdom and his wife, a beautiful woman by the name of Scheherazade. However, when Yasmine turned eighteen, her kingdom went to war with a neighboring nation, a man who had styled himself as a Prince Ali of an unknown country known as Ababwa. Her father’s vizier and adviser, Ja’far, did all he could to ensure the safety and prosperity of their kingdom, but with his disappearance and the death of the Sultan, Yasmine was left with no other choice. Using her mother’s book of stories, Yasmine approached Prince Ali and proposed a wager.
If he could stay awake enough to recall the facts of her mother’s stories, she would surrender and her kingdom--including its Princess--would belong to him. Prince Ali promised to kill the Princess after taking her virtue, but he would never get the chance.
This wager lasted for One Thousand and One Nights, during which time Yasmine and her people were able to sneak into the enemy camp and discover the source behind the invasion, a rusty oil lamp that contained a bright blue djinn who granted the bearer wishes. She stole the lamp and on the One Thousandth and First Night, Prince Ali and Yasmine were married and his true identity as the thief, vagabond, and her brief acquaintance Aladdin were revealed.
It is unsure what happened next, but sources have claimed that Princess Yasmine was seen fleeing the kingdom with a black satchel as a power unforeseen in this world rent it asunder. Official sightings of the Princess have not been seen in several months, but some have claimed a woman bearing a strong resemblance to her was seen with a caravan en route to Shoeberg.

Finally made some Dimension 20 ocs! I know it’s not really a fairy tale but Alice In Wonderland has been used so much in horror without ever really getting at the part that I found to be actually scary. (Which is what coming back after wonderland would be like)
I remembered in the book (which I read super long ago) that there was at least one other girl Alice talks about (who she thinks is very stupid) and so I looked back through the text and found that she mentions at least two other girls, Ada (who has curly hair) and Mabel (which is the one that Alice thinks is dull) I remember being fascinated as a kid by the idea that she had classmates she would be returning to, and so I pulled these names from the book.
In my Neveraftery version of things Alice comes back after like a year in Wonderland to discover that the place where she lived has undergone the same fate as most of the other Kingdoms in Neverafter, many people have died, and those who have not are fearful and on edge. Alice eventually bonds with some of her classmates, and sensing the need for a story, tells them about her adventures (leaving out anything grim). They latch onto the stories, at it gives all of them (Alice very much so included) an escape from the world around them. Eventually their town is pretty thoroughly destroyed, and they hop caravans performing various plays based on Alice’s stories, which are generally received quite well. Alice however, is beginning to feel like leaving out the dark parts of her experience was a bad idea, the fact she hasn’t told anyone about it is eating at her, and the fact she keeps reliving Wonderland doesn’t help.
ID under cut for this one.
[ID: A drawing of three girls in a forest, all wearing kind of dingy dresses. The first is Mabel, a girl with pale skin, brown eyes, and red hair. She is wearing clothes inspired by the white rabbit and the March hare, including two sets of rabbit ears. The second is Ada, a girl with medium brown skin, dark brown eyes, and black hair in an Afro. She is wearing clothes inspired by the mad hatter and the queen of hearts. The third is Alice, who is a girl with pale skin, black hair and black eyes. She is wearing a blue dress and holding a briefcase.]

My NeverAfter OC (warning spoilers up to ep 6ish)
Princess Catrìona
 Sister of Kate Crackernuts
(Kah-tree-nah) The Scottish Gaelic name for Katherine (Kate)
The story of Kate Crackernuts
"Kate Crackernuts" is a Scottish fairy tale collected by Andrew Lang in the Orkney Islands and published in Longman's Magazine in 1889. The tale is about a princess who rescues her beautiful sister from an evil enchantment and a prince from a wasting sickness caused by dancing nightly with the fairies.
In the original version, both sisters have the name “Kate” and are the same age.
First Neverafter (Ep1-3]
Closely follows the original tale, with the dark times coming after their story ‘ended’
Both grew up in a Small forgotten kingdom bordering Jubilee
Catríona is the daughter of the King and Kate Crackernuts is the daughter of the new Queen (The Stepmother)
The Hen-wife and the Stepmother on the third try trick her into losing her beautiful head and switching it for a sheep’s one when she is 18
Kate grabbed Catríona's human head and they ran away to fend for themselves, where they came upon the kingdom of Jubilee
Kate finds that one of King Cole’s sons is sick, and goes on to watch him for three nights, following him to the Green-hill where faeries force him to dance the night away
Over three nights Kate gets the cures for her sister and the prince
Kate Crackernuts reunited Catríona with her human head and healed King Cole’s sick son from the wasting
The sick, now healed, son marries Kate and the good son marries the ill, now healed, Catríona [Their Happily Ever After]
As the war came to Jubilee they fought alongside their husbands and died on the battlefield at the age of 24
Present day post merging of the two lives:
The faeries of the Green-hill bring back Catriona into the new world
as something (the Stepmother) has reached Kate first,
they didn’t want to summon either of the princesses, but the princes have disappeared, due to Jubilee not existing, in this new version
the Mother Goose putting Old King Cole in the book, and his kingdom disappearing from the Neverafter [fairies and Catriona don’t know this]
in this world the Stepmother has stolen her human head and locked Kate away somewhere, stopping them both from escaping together
The second world Catriona had left her father’s castle on her own scared of her Stepmother who stole her head and of what the people would say of her sheep head.
Neither sister completed their set stories
Fairies task Catriona with finding the source of the stories going missing and bring it to them, for Catriona and Kate cannot have their happily ever after if their princes doesn’t exist
Throughout her journey in her second life, she has started to doubt the sincerity of the fairies, but for the major part still sees them as the preferable side and an opponent to The Stepmother
Returned around the same time as PCs despite dying much earlier than the group, the faeries were reluctant to employ a princess and spent more time trying to find other methods, the reluctance is noticeable to Catriona when she is in the in-between with the faeries of the Green-Hill
we'll see what happens in Tuffeton, but I think she would be tailing the party after hearing news of the disappearance of the massive spider that had taken the village previously
Her new body/skills
the stepmother still has her human head and in turn, Catriona now has the head of a ewe with curling horns she can use to ram her opponents. [Minotaur reskin]
she speaks with a sheepish lisp as she had to reteach herself how to speak common as she initially could only bleat when her head was stolen
she can speak to any type of sheep, and understands some goat tongue
This Catriona has been wondering the Neverafter after running away, studying magic as a force to rescue her sister, and combat the Stepmother [3rd level Fighter Eldritch Knight]
Break down of her Image
The head is of a Scottish Blackface sheep, where the ewes also have horns The armour is believed to be dated around 1515 from Greenwich, England, and belonged to Henry VIII The sword is a European sword dated around 1400AD The page is from a 16th Century manuscript written in Latin, Scots, and Gaelic
Again all original art and character designs are by Giuseppe Lama

Neverafter OC
Saw someone make a pitch for their idea of a character in neverafter and I wanted to do one of my own. I love Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, so even if it’s not technically a fairytale I wanted to do it.
Alice Pleasance
(she/her)
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Wild Magic Sorcerer
Alice grew up in Elegy, in a small village near both the border against shoeberg and the black wood forest
In some stories she is from other kingdoms, but almost always lives near a border to the black wood forest, or some other similarly primeval spot of untamed wilderness.
In this loop’s version of her story, Alice was almost 8 years old when she was playing with her kitten, Dinah, out near the borders of the forest. She at some point had accidentally stepped into a deep rabbit hole, twisting her ankle. She struggled to get it out, but the more she struggled, the looser the dirt around her got, until suddenly, the ground beneath her gave out. Downward she fell, deep into a pit of unknown, much more odd and bizarre than just any old rabbits hole in the ground.
She found herself trapped in a universe, one of nonsense and chaos, where even the laws of physics would change from time to time
She desperately searched for away out of this confusing and scary place
On her journey she met many strange beings. Few were helpful, some hostile, most were annoying, all were disturbing and off putting.
In some versions of the story, she never escapes, in others the land is much more forgiving
In this one, it’s more off putting and creepy, but she is able to escape, but in doing so she has let wonderland fallow her, forever tainting her essence within neverafter
She is able to bend some of it’s chaotic magic to her will, letting wonderland use her forever altered being as an outlet into the ‘real’ world
While she can filter most magic, controlling it and turning it into spells, she will sometimes slip up and let unintended wonderland chaos make its way through
The magical affects are random, a card could appear, come to life, then slowly and painfully die over the course of a minute due to its lack of vital organs. Boiling tea could spill out from seemingly nowhere covering the ground around her, or her skin could turn blue, or just about a hundred other things
Since her time in wonderland, she has realized how dangerous she is to other people, and after killing her sister by summoning a living cauldron filled with black pepper that sneezed and exploded into a ball of fire, she was ran out by her parents and other nearby village folk
At this point in the story she is about 15, 7 years after getting trapped and then escaping wonderland. Well, at least her mind is 15. Her body has fluctuated back and forth in terms of age and size so much that it’s hard to pinpoint an exact age on it
Now She is wandering around alone at this point, sheltering herself with whatever she can. She tries only to use magic in small amounts and only when she needs to, though in the always darkening times of neverafter, that need continues to grow.
She doesn’t really know what to do at this point. She wants to know how to get rid of this curse that taints her very blood and flesh, but doesn’t know where to look, or even if it’s possible to cure

I can’t draw so I can’t art this but I think my neverafter OC would be an ugly duckling explicit trans metaphor with a little bit of swan lake thrown in to round it out.
I think she would go from a swan in its first molt (before she is aware she’s really a swan), to Odette, to Odile in her final form.
I think she’d be based on an aarakocra monk.
If Tim is the golden goose, perhaps she would be afraid of becoming the gander (even though she never will) because she sees him as who she’s suppose to be and that scares her.
